Random Soldier Headcanons

He has had every job ever - and worked them for many years

He hears voices but actually likes them - unless they start going on about boring morale choices

He is uncomfortable with direct eye contact

He can withstand servere torture but crumbles under soft touches

Doesn’t remember much from his past - but he sometimes know the way around places he seemingly has never been

He’s incredibly muscular from his intense training - but he eats like trash so he’s soft around his chest and stomach

He has difficulty distinguishing emotions. If he’s sad or hurt he will probably interpret it as anger

Romantic Headcanons

He can’t remember if he has been intimate with anyone before meeting you

He likes a partner who takes charge in bed and is gently with him. He’s always in charge and hyper-attentive so he enjoys when his partner takes care of him and makes him feel safe and loved

His love language is quality time and gift giving. He wants to go everywhere with you even on missions. But don’t worry, he will protect you and make sure you never get hurt.

His gifts are inexplicable but the way he just beams with joy as he presents you with a broken radio he found on the street melts your heart

The love language he prefers receiving is touch and words of affirmation

Soldier hc part 4: Self-destruction.

Whenever Soldier feels stressed he'd rather exhaust his body so he can feel "productive", and also distract himself from his thoughts.

He's grown with the "take it like a man" mentality, so when he's not, he starts to destroy himself mentally.

I missed 'draw your faves with your disability' month by a while, but I hope you'll still accept this snippet. Some context and thoughts below the cut if you're curious!

I will project my disabilities onto anyone, but Soldier is the first character I've so heavily headcannoned as d/Deaf. The way he speaks so loud at all times, and he misunderstands the things people say to him as though hearing them wrong, and the way he's viewed as stupid for doing so, it reminds me of being in school as a HoH person. It's hard to explain to someone who hasn't experienced it. Think the 'so it ain't me noggin it's me peepers' Simpsons clip. He was also in near a war, and many soldiers lost hearing from bombs and the constant gunfire.

Pyro's mask would make it very hard to sign considering the lack of expressions to read equates to a huge loss of grammar and sentence structure. Engie designed an LED screen that replaced the material in the eyeholes, and they have a few default expressions to use for emoting, including ? for a question , ^^ for happiness and positive emotion, ◡◡ for sadness or negative emotion, etc. It responds to the actual expression Pyro is making inside the mask!

Headcanon: Soldier and Scout

Soldier is like a brother to Scout but not in a cool older brother way.

More like in the way a child will confidently talk about subjects that they are only slightly more knowledgeable than someone a bit younger than themself.

Ice skating ❄️⛸️

Warnings: cursing

Mercs: scout, sniper, medic, demo, engineer, soldier

Scout

He fucking sucks at ice skating, I'ma be honest with you 😭

Probably falls on his face every 10 to 20 minutes if he's lucky

He's really trying, I promise

He'll either cling onto the nearest wall or hold your hand so he doesn't bust his ass on the ice 😭

Medic

He's a show off.

He's actually really good, so he'll just skate around casually

He'll do little spins and shit

He'd probably make fun of you if you fell down, or if you didn't know how to ice skate

Sniper

Kinda like Scout, except not as bad

Still probably falling down a bit but he gets the hang of it

WILL hold your hand, just so he doesn't fall down (but if he does he's bringing you down with him)

Demo

He's usually always drunk, so he's tripping and falling every 1 minute

When sober, he's probably just an average ice skater

Like he's not terrible, but he can't do any tricks

All he knows how to do is turn, and go straight

Engineer

Like demo, he's an average skater

Knows the basics of skating, and he isn't tripping and falling everywhere

Probably attached a little gadget to his skates so it's a lot easier to not fall on his ass

Soldier

DO NOT LET THIS MAN GO ICE SKATING

He will find a way to break the ice. Like all of it. The entire rink

He also has no clue how to skate
