I am torn between two headcanons:

Scout is a picky eater. He comes from a low-income family and has 8 brothers. There wasn't much to eat then and he would get sick if he ate too much. Probably malnourished as a kid.

Scout can and will eat anything he finds. As a kid he learnt to eat first, think second. He has fished out food from the rubbish bin before and would probably do it again. He would eat things that are burnt, overcooked, undercooked, expired or just plain disgusting (and has probably eaten mold or worms accidentally). Food poisoning doesn't affect him anymore. This man eats a lot and is still a skinny fuck.

Either way he has an extreme sweet tooth and can eat as much sugar as he likes and his metabolism and physical activity will take care of the rest. His teeth are destroyed but he doesn't care. Spy would never admit it but he 100% gets that from him.

See, my first thought was Soldier because for better or for worse, Christmas is a quintessential American holiday. But then I thought about it more and realized Soldier wouldn’t do that because he’s too American to make a mistake like that.

My second thought was Scout. It started with him accidentally saying ‘Merry Christmas’ a bit too early in the year, but seeing how annoyed it made the other mercs, he started making a habit of it.

He's drawn to it just because it's Australian. You know how you get drawn to things just because you're related to it socially? Yeah that's him.

He really, really likes the show though he just won't admit it because he's not supposed to like cute things.

He resonates a bit with Brandy.

If you're watching it around him, he's going to stick around to watch it with you. Just gets sucked in, can't really look away.

No, he will not get you merch of the show.

Scout

You cannot get him to even LOOK at the screen when he's with you.

It's not that he doesn't like it! Far from it, Scout likes Bluey! He really, really resonates with Muffin! He just won't!! Admit!! It!!

You bring it up that you want to watch it with him and he says "no way! That's for little kids."

But the more he hears you talk about it... The more his intrigue grows. So he watches it by himself. And well. Well he loves it.

He will fight actual children for Bluey merch for both you and himself.

Medic

Yeah he doesn't really care. He will let you watch it as he does his work but he does not care.

He may or may not find Bingo more amusing than the others but he finds it silly kids media and mentions Sniper might like it more.

He does think it's cute that you like it though! He may or may not get you a dog based off of the Heeler family.

He actually can appreciate the score of certain episodes, like Sleepytime.

He knows too much about Bluey because of you and wears that information with pride. Thinks it's cute you're so into it, loves it, and loves you!

Engineer

Oh he just adores Bluey. Thinks the show is adorable, appreciates the subtle adult humor and how it's got some great lessons.

He's a healthy mix of Bandit and Chilli, and those happen to be his favorite characters as well! He thinks the show is a tad beyond its years and wishes he had something like it growing up.

He will talk about the show in the sense of theories and what not! Dell LOVES to talk about that kind of stuff.

He's always gotta cuddle with you when the two of you watch it. Finds it much better that way.

Yes, you two both get emotional over certain episodes. He will cry with you.

Who Is Scout's Ma?

She's a character we know extremely little about, however when you stop to consider the IMPLICATIONS of what little we DO know, things start to get interesting:

1. She lives in the roughest part of Boston ("if you were from where I was from, you'd be dead") but dresses quite elegantly.

2. She had 8 boys, all of whom she raised BY HERSELF, and yet somehow she finds the time to maintain this impeccable appearance.

3. Scout clearly loves and admires her to a point where it's one of the few things he'll drop his "tough guy" act for, and dialogue in the comics like "Ma's gonna kill me if she finds out" implies he also still fears her disapproval, despite being a fully autonomous adult.

4. Spy, despite what he likes to pretend, is clearly head-over-heels for her. He even had her likeness engraved on his fanciest gun! (Note the distinct hairband & hoop earrings) For a man who avoids attachment to the point where he never lets anyone see his face, that's an unusual degree of infatuation.

5. None of Scout's brothers left Boston while he was growing up, despite a few of them presumably being adults by then. Not only this, they were still all getting into fights together, implying they were both continuing to live with or near their mother and brothers, AND had reasons to brawl with others beyond just some adolescent street scuffle.

My Theory:

Scout's Ma is the matriarch of a Boston-based crime family.

It explains her elegant appearance, how she and Spy were able to meet, why their bond clearly goes beyond a one-off fling, why she was able to be in Scout's life so much despite the financial burdens of being a single mother of 8, and why all of said 8 were continuing to get into fights with other locals. They weren't just some street gang, they were enforcers. It also explains why/how Scout got into mercenary work, his many mafia-themed weapons, and why he continues to fear her ire even as an adult.

Plus, take a look at this unused angle of the last photo from Meet The Spy:

You'd THINK a single mother from the rough side of Boston wouldn't appear so in-her-element on a fancy date with The Spy, and yet her appearance and demeanour here just SCREAM "confident and in control."

Scout's Ma is Boston's Godmother, and I desperately wish to see someone draw her as such.

Silly Scout Headcanon

I 100% believe that Pauling is a lesbian and the only reason Scout can’t accept that is because she’s his favorite person.

Like, yes, a bit of it is ego, but most of it is unregulated BPD.

Pauling probably eventually goes to The Admin and RED Medic about it because she literally gets to a point where she can’t handle it, it’s effecting her ability to work. Scout eventually actually gets help with his symptoms and learns how to cope with his BPD and accept the fact that she’s definitely not into him and will never be.

(This totally isn’t based off experience idk what you’re talking about)

A part of me wants to say that like, he actively scolds you and another part of me says no, not at all, he's joining! I like it both ways.

The part of him that tells you to be careful is pretty,, y'know like "oh no, don't" but he wants to see what happens because it's funnier that way. Unless you're like, really going to get hurt.

he is kinda your partner in crime for everything else depending! He's a bit unhinged, and that's putting it lightly so be prepared lmfao.

The two of you have almost been banned from places together.

Scout

He's just as silly as you! Dangerous too, but like, he's pretty street smart at times? So the two of you always have a way out or a loophole.

There is no voice of reason between the two of you. Just one bad idea after another. It's,,, certainly something.

Date nights between the two of you can get quite chaotic. But the other silly things?? I think that endears him to you.

I think Scout is the best one for a silly SO tbh.

Sniper

He's an odd mix between enjoying you being an opposite to him and not really having it. It's not that he's opposed entirely or wants someone so similar to him, but I think it makes him feel like an old man despite being like, 28.

He can be endeared to it because it reminds him to smile, and not take everything so seriously!

But at other times, it becomes a bit much and he doesn't really crave the silliness or the danger you might occasionally bring. Takes some serious conversations, if I'm being honest.

But y'know, any relationship requires some healthy, good communication in order to thrive.

Engineer

Another weird mix, but I think he's a tad more endeared to your silly behavior than Sniper. Like, he's much more likely to laugh and go along with it.

Though, there are moments you need to hold back. Largely, he likes it!

If it's dangerous, he might need to accompany you or just,,, ensure you don't get hurt? Like that's his biggest concern. He's like a mama hen, of course he's going to worry about you.

He does really, really enjoy listening to the things that you get up to though!
