i'm still tempted to make a meta-ish post about emmrich's romance with a grey warden rook because it's honestly been so fulfilling and everything i wanted from the game.

from emmrich being excited to meet a rook from such a venerated order - and one who has been to the anderfels no less, to learning that little emmrich admired the statues of warden heroes and daydreaming about griffons in flight. a timid child, growing up on those heroic stories.

to emmrich being absolutely horrified about learning what being a warden entails, how both davrin and rook suffer at weisshaupt, so close to an archdemon. how wardens die like any other.

to emmrich being even more shocked to learn that becoming a warden hero has a price. they have to give their life to slay an archdemon.

to emmrich being infatuated that a brave grey warden, facing down darkspawn in the distant anderfels, would be interested in him.

to emmrich bringing up the calling in his romance, how he fears for them dying, even though he firmly believes he will still go before them.

a grey warden rook, who has seen so much worse things than what others in the lighthouse startle at when they meet emmrich and get to know his and nevarra's customs.

and a grey warden rook, who fears death, who fears the calling, but finds comfort in emmrich's beliefs, in how he views the journey of the soul and death.

another interesting piece of exchange between mhin and leander that caught my eye 👁

indeed, it seems baffling that leander, our reliable man, our nice guy, the nicest of the nicest, just forgets to warn mc about such a tiny little detail, easily forgettable for sure — that eridia's streets are unsafe at night 💀

he quickly covers it up by flirting — and boy, can i wait (can't, need this game right now) to see more of such instances, because he seems to master this craft, and it is working on most people, — hinting at mc's beauty and/or the intimate (and it is intimate for mc, whether you like leander or not) moment they shared.

but do you know the most important, tasty nuanced thing this tiny, blink-and-you-miss-it dialogue reveals? leander doesn't care about mc, about their life and safety; he's niceys, it's all just an act. sure, cap, you might say, we already know leander is a manipulative titty shit, what's new? but look at it another way: we know this because rss kindly backed us up with all this additional info and content so we don't starve to death while waiting for the release (rss, i would have gone through content drought anyway. this is not a shade, take your time, i love you). now imagine playing this game for the first time without a pile of lore stacked at the back of your mind and seeing these discrepancies in his behaviour (check out my previous post on this), foreshadowing that he's not as good as he seems and his path might be dark and gritty as hell.

and now, my fellow leander girls/gays/whoever else is there, imagine how it would feel when leander cares (faints).

So this is the Leander result for the official Valentine’s Day LI quiz. I think it gives…a lot of insight.

1. Leander’s attempts to kill Ais are all fun and games “until they’re not” according to his relationship chart. And I think we can see how the conditions under which they are not can be achieved.

2. Leander hunts for your opinions on the other LI’s and talks them down if you like them, something unique to his solo time at the end of the demo.

3. When Ais offers to buy you the drink he promised as repayment for scaring you, Leander is VERY insistent he both make and pay for your drink instead.

4. Leander needs therapy.

5. He’s my fav lil mystery weirdo man.

Seriously considering the fact that either Ais (with the Seaspring's followers ) or Leander (with his Bloodhounds) will grow in strength and begin to threaten the Senobium. And the Senobium will use their greatest weapon to end the uprising - Vere's unwilling obedience.

welcome back i can't stop talking about a "green-themed man" and mc's curse, here's what happened in previous episodes: part i, part ii. i was wrong about a couple of things there, but i'm gonna taunt you and reveal it in my next post 😋

anyway let's talk about how leander's protective magic works!! observation #1: when mc touches him for the first time, we see him conjuring a protective (?) spell:

but it doesn't happen the second time??? he just flexes his fingers, and that's it (on the screenshot).

i have a few possible explanations, whichever is up to your liking:

the protective spell is still there: he doesn't need to cast it twice, and it's kind of long acting — plausible, depends on how the magic works in ts universe;

the description of magic is just omitted, but still implied by leander flexing his fingers — the most feasible explanation;

he does cast the spell for the first time, but doesn't do it for the second — questionable, why wouldn't he? he couldn't have forgotten about it (slides before the second touching scene confirm it). the curse can't hurt him anymore? he has it under control (for now?)? i call this possibility questionable because that's kind of galaxy brain storytelling, but who knows right? i find this detail quite fascinating 👀

the spell wasn't protective at all, it was just some trick to manipulate mc into revealing the curse's nature — while i personally don't buy it, i felt the need to point it out, considering leander-is-already-dead theories — the spell would be like a poultice for a dead man, as they say in my native tongue 😈

observation #2: we see a flash of magic across his palm only. does it protect his whole body or just a part of it? looks like the latter is not true, since mc is freely touching his forearm and his face, but i feel the need to point it out as well .

anyways what do you think about this 👁

Random amalgamation of Leander theories and thoughts not big enough for a long post:

- Leander apparently hates sleep. He is also associated with the magician arcana, representing both life and death, and the cycle thereof. Thus also associated with rebirth. Did Leander once die or come close to dying? If so, does he hate sleep because it reminds him of that death or near death?

- Was Leander booted/left from the Senobium and that’s both how he acquired his arcane skill and why he hates them? Or does his magic have something to do with his possible rebirth/death

- Kuras brought us back from the brink of death, and also has been watching out for Leander since he was a child in Lowtown. So is Kuras the one who brought Leander back if he died/almost died? Was he the one who cared for him after whatever incident gave him his scar?
