Guyyys. I've got an idea for a tetsuwan atom AU.. hear me out (art included in post)

Okay, so. You know how there's a lot of stuff about Atom's heart in the plot, yeah? Well, what if said heart was a separate entity, like a second "mind" of sorts, except that entity is in charge of everything instinct and emotion. I call this: the Deviant Heart AU No one would know about it until something happens in the story, which results in them finding out that there's a guy in there! I imagine them just floating inside what is essentially the virtual representation of the inside of the heart. A sorta hum-like heartbeat echoing from the walls, one wall being like a whole screen which allows him to see through Atom's eyes. He can hear everything too. Atom in this instance would be considered the brain/mind. Able to filter out some of the intensity of whatever the heart is sending for the most part. The heart is unable to use any of the computery processes, bro can barely do math. He's kinda academically stupid. My stupid little boy... anywayy That's kinda it for now. Here's some art of little heart guy!

Bonus default color palette version. For when he inevitably takes over for X reason. You can tell it's him just by the highlights and the sudden shift in behavior. He's also very clingy.

Ok sooo Astro boy Phantom of the Opera (kinda) au ✨

SO. Since 03 Tenma pretty much IS the Phantom (and I started shipping the old men real bad) I started cooking this

The story is that Ochan is a medic and Tenma a cientist. They're old friends, but then Tobio dies (as he does) and Tenma isolates himself and makes a pact (with a demon or spirit ig?) to trade half of his soul to bring his son back (which leaves some scars or stuff hence the mask)

The half soul is used to make a new soul for Tobio's body, restored with mechanical prosthetics by his father. But the new soul isn't Tobio. It's a new life, a new person, who just carries his memories. Tenma acts overprotective and possessive of him, hiding them from the world, so the kid eventually runs away and finds Ochanomizu, seeking help. Ochan names him "Astro" since he loves the sky and stars so much and cares for the kid.

Anyway cut to Ochan spending like 80k words knocking some sense on his problematic boyfriend's head, Tenma ruins everything then learns to value his son's life etc etc and I hope they all become a happy family the end

[ I liked the idea of ​​what would have happened to some of the characters if they had survived. I already have some developments with Tobio, but I haven't even thought about this guy. And it's more likely that if Tobio had survived, Daichi would have survived too. I think so. in this matter relying more on the 2003 manga. ]

Now to the ideas. I can’t speak with 100% certainty yet, because everything is very raw.

1. Dr. Tenma never lost his son, so he never sought to replace a human with a robot. Neither Astro Boy nor Atlas were ever created.

2. Daichi is serious injuries after Katari pushes him off the highway but survives. He is quickly found and taken to intensive care. Advanced technology and his father's money save his life and guarantee an almost complete recovery, even if some body parts and organs had to be replaced with artificial ones.

3. A serious talk with his father is inevitable. Eventually, he will have to take responsibility and become the president of the Tokugawa company.

This is where the character background ends, and then the main plot (which is in development and in disarray).

then there was the design. uhh, up until that point I didn't really have a clear idea of ​​what exactly I wanted to achieve. maybe after a while I'll have a better idea, but for now we have what we have.

Here Daichi is about 26 years old, and his father passed away a few years ago. So Daichi finally has a little more freedom, which he no longer knows how to use. He does his job well, even if his methods are... unconventional. and even if he himself jumps into the thick of things, risking burning out completely.

Characters: Atom, Umataro Tenma

Warnings: Major character death, discussion of suicide

Synopsis: After all is said and done and Bora is defeated, Atom contemplates on his second revival, and wonders if there is any place for him in Tenma's life, or if his presence is always bound to hurt them both. He finds his answer as he explores the many ways that Tenma might have lived in a world without Atom.

Author notes: This was somewhat inspired by a discussion from a pluto server that boiled down to "what if Tenma got therapy" and came to the conclusion that Atom simply would never have been built, in that case. I ended up taking a somewhat different approach where it's more about Atom exploring various other ways Tenma could have dealt with Tobio's death, therapy!Tenma just being one iteration.
