Four Men and a Ghost AU Extreme Ghostbusters edition:

(Advance warning: This is a LITTLE darker to fit the vibe of Extreme Ghostbusters whereas the original post was meant to lean a little more towards the slightly sitcom-y vibe of The Real Ghostbusters.)

Relationships and characters:

Kylie is like an older sister to Ginette, always up to talk about spooky stuff and often joins her at Ray’s bookstore. Will gladly murder anyone who messes with Ginette. Definitely double teams with Egon on the “Protective family squad”. Loves having a ghost as a little sister. 100% encourages Ginette to embrace her spooky side and use her powers. Ginette often teases Kylie about her relationship with Eduardo. Kylie has occasionally let Ginette use the proton pistol behind Egon’s back. Kylie once tried to do a seance with a ritual from a book she got from Ray’s store to speak with her great grandmother Rose and accidentally summoned Ginette, after calling a panicking Egon and Janine and confirming that Ginette was alright the two ended up having a sleepover and tried again with the seance. Kylie absolutely loves Ginette’s Terrordog Elvira.

Roland is the chill big brother Ginette never had. Whenever she wants to get away from the craziness at home she always visits him and listens to opera with him. The two of them work on the Ecto-1 and proton packs together, they make a good team as Ginette keeps the mood light while Roland keeps her on track. Ginette and Roland occasionally work together on ghostbusting equipment that’s keyed into her ectoplasmic signature so that she can use without getting hurt in secret. Ginette often helps babysit Casey. Roland is slightly protective of Ginette but mostly supports her when she has a crush on someone, but does definitely have a “good cop, Kylie cop” routine whenever a guy tries to ask her out just like Winston. Believes that Ginette should be allowed to decide what she wants to do with her powers without interference.

Eduardo is Ginette’s sarcasm buddy, despite his similarities to Peter she actually gets along with him well. The two of them have a friendly sparring relationship, occasionally exchanging jokes and jibes. Eduardo occasionally asks Ginette for help with his homework in Egon’s class (once using her to do the work but he got caught by Egon and Ginette didn’t talk to him for a week because she felt betrayed and he never did it again). He also occasionally asks for advice on Kylie in exchange for his help hiding her secret ghostbuster training. Eduardo secretly looks into EVERY GUY Ginette mentions and gets super protective of her but acts like he doesn’t care.

Garrett is Ginette’s ghostbusting mentor. He thinks that she shouldn’t let the fact that she’s a ghost stop her anymore than he lets his disability stop him. He trains with her at the gym regularly to build enough muscle and endurance to use her equipment. He treats her most like an adult and encourages her to do what she wants, whether her family encourages it or not, including being a ghostbuster. Thinks Ginette has every right to do whatever she wants with her powers, destiny be damned. Garrett calls Ginette Gin-and-Tonic after an event with a ghost who didn’t know Ginette’s age that resulted in her getting drunk.

Egon is a LOT more protective now. After an accident in which Ginette got sucked into a ghost trap and burned by a proton pack he has absolutely forbidden her from ever getting involved in ghostbusting beyond answering the phone. Ginette helps occasionally in his class if she has time between her after school work at Ray’s bookstore and her last class. Egon insists on escorting her to the store. He still runs tests with her regularly but is a little more cautious after the accident. Ginette is no longer allowed to work on experiments with him. Egon definitely doesn’t trust Ginette’s terrordog Elvira but let’s Ginette keep her under the conditions that he be allowed to run tests to make sure she’s safe and that Ginette takes her out every night before bed.

Janine is a little more protective of Ginette after the accident but doesn’t agree with Egon’s decision to bar her from ghostbusting. She helps the new team train Ginette and make tech by sneaking them results from her tests, stating that if Egon has a problem he can take it up with her.

Ray still runs the bookstore and is still very much Ginette’s dad but since it was his proton pack and trap that caused the accident he’s much more tentative with her. Ginette definitely misses their close relationship with him. Ray is tentative about Elvira but accepts her since she makes Ginette happy.

Winston has a slightly strained relationship with Egon and Ray, blaming them for bringing her on the job that resulted in the accident. In his mind they pushed her into coming by glorifying ghostbusting to her. He and Ginette still have a very good relationship, still going out for pizza every Friday but he and Egon’s strained relationship makes these outings somewhat difficult for her. Winston has on multiple occasions tried to convince Ginette to come live with him and put all of the ghostbuster nonsense behind her. Is accepting of Elvira on the condition that she be house trained and kept at a safe distance from him.

Venkman is still the same in terms of personality. He provides therapy for both Ginette and the extreme ghostbusters. Definitely HATES Elvira’s entire existence and refuses to have anything to do with her.

Dana is the same, occasionally has discussions about music with Roland who is a massive fan. She absolutely does NOT want anything to do with Elvira and refuses to set foot in the Firehouse as long as she’s there and refuses to let Oscar go either. This puts a slight strain on her relationship with Ginette because it makes her feel isolated at the Firehouse.

Ginette is about 16 and feels more isolated from her family after the accident. Egon is significantly more protective of her, as is Janine which she finds slightly suffocating at times. She misses how close her family used to be before the accident and wishes things could go back to how they were. She still wants to be a ghostbuster and thrives off of the encouragement from the new team. She adopted a terrordog pup and named her Elvira when she was about 15 and absolutely loves her. Elvira is basically her emotional support demon and she loves having her around. Ginette has taken on a bit of a goth vibe because of Kylie who she looks up to the most. She really enjoys helping out with Egon’s class and feels like it’s the best way to bond with him now. She has a scientific theory that if she can create ghostbusting weapons that are in sync with her ectoplasmic signature she can go out in the field and help out. She is a little more willing to use her powers and the encouragement from the new team helps her learn more about what they are.
