I like The Inhumans, but learning about them makes me uncomfortable. I've complained that Captain America's Super Soldier Serum feels like Eugenics (and I won't budge on that), but now let's discuss the Inhumans. Because they're a bit nasty too. And again: I still like Medusa and Black Bolt and Gorgon and Karnak and all them. But their people's history is disturbing.
To skim the wikipedia page: The Kree made the Inhumans more intelligent than regular humans. Then they left shortly after. During that time, the Inhumans discover the terrigen mists and learn it gives them hideous deformities that sometimes manifest into superpowers. So then they employ selective breeding and eugencics to make themselves into the perfect civilization. Which, I don't know. Considering their king can't talk for fear of killing earth, the king's brother went mad and dreams to coup the throne and that one of the king's cousins can't survive outside of water due to these mists, I think it's safe to say The Inhumans are more messed up than humanity.
Also, The Inhumans have slaves called Alpha Primitives. That's kind of sick and messed up. Really, The Inhumans need some severe aid to combat their history of eugenics. All you need to do is destroy the terrigen mists. Get rid of them and the suffering stops. So that'd be my step one. Get rid of the terrigen mists! For Christ's Sakes!

At some point, I feel like you’d need a medical bracelet or something to let people know that sometimes you switch brains with a dinosaur when you’re experiencing overwhelming emotions. Feels like this would solve a couple of problems.

How do you feel about revolutionary era cyclops? Both in premise and execution?
A fascinating premise fatally undermined in execution by contradictory editorial and writing choices.
Tumblr media
To start with, Revolutionary Cyclops was a completely logical extension of where Cyclops’ character arc had been going ever since Utopia and AvX and the Phoenix Five. All his life, Scott Summers had been Charles Xavier’s perfect soldier - not his favorite student or his most trusted student, by the one that Xavier could count on to put the mission above himself no matter the cost. And for many decades, that’s who Cyclops was, to the point where it destroyed his first marriage and caused his second to founder under the weight of his repression and trauma. But after the Decimation, Scott had to move past that, to take up the mantle of independent leadership for mutantkind - something he pursued with unflinching pragmatism and ruthlessness, before it culminated in the ultimate Oedipal rebellion. So having completely severed himself from the legacy of Charles Xavier and his dream, Cyclops had to find a new purpose, a new direction for his life, and he found it in revolutionary politics. I think that’s a quite compelling arc.
Where I think the execution got messed up was that editorial clearly wanted to portray him as being in the wrong, another well-intentioned extremist in the vein of Magneto (who not coincidentally was increasingly loyal to and admiring of Cyclops as time went on), but Brian Michael Bendis never quite agreed. We would keep reading stuff about how Scott was going too far, that his ends couldn’t justify his means, and so on - but when it came to actually showing on the page what he was doing, it wasn’t anything more extreme than the X-Men had done in their “outlaw” era, and arguably much less morally questionable than the stuff he did when he was running Utopia and was coded more consistently as heroic. (This reached its peak of ridiculousness in the post-Bendis era with Death of X and IvX, where turned out that the thing that had convinced the world Cyclops was “worse than Hitler” was to make a big psychic projection of his head and destroy one of the Terrigen Mist clouds that were threatening to wipe out mutantkind.)

Not sure how closely you're following Ms Marvel but- did they ever explain how Kamala can be a mutant-Inhuman hybrid with both Inhuman and X-gene powers, even though the whole thing with Luna was that they cancelled out so she COULDN'T be a mutant? And I just. Missed the explanation.
Well, Luna is no longer relevant to this conversation because-- and I feel I'm tapping the sign from that Simpsons meme every time I say this-- the Maximoffs are not mutants and have not been mutants in canon, or treated as mutants by editorial, for a literal decade. Come this autumn, it will have been a full ten years since the AXIS retcon, and there have no signs that Marvel intends to change it back. I know it wasn't a popular decision, but I think it's silly that people are still pretending it didn't happen.
Anyway, like I said, the Maximoff retcon happened nearly ten years before the Kamala retcon, so any precedent Luna might have set had already fallen by the wayside a long time ago. My no-prize explanation is that when Luna was born, everybody misinterpreted her situation because they were working with false information about Pietro's genetics. Therefore, we should just disregard it as bad science.
As for Kamala, it's been stated a few times that because she underwent terrigenesis before her mutation had a chance fully develop, the terrigen mists basically suppressed her x-gene. She still has an x-gene-- and she still registered in the Cerebro system, which is why they resurrected her on Krakoa-- but it's dormant. So far, Kamala still hasn't manifested her mutant powers.

Iron Man and Magneto VS Stark Sentinels, Nimrod and Feilong
Iron Man, Magneto and even Feilong are figuring out on what to do in shutting down the Stark Sentinels and the AI takeover on Orchis. Iron Man, Magneto and the reluctant Feilong team up by taking the Sentinel Buster with them to the Sentinel Factory. Magneto and Iron Man pilot the Sentinel Buster by having the former (Magneto) pilot the through the chest core while the latter (Iron Man) pilots through the cockpit. Feilong reluctantly teams up with them as he is needed to help in shutting down the Sentinel factory. Their Sentinel Buster destroys the factories and the Stark Sentinels around them until Nimrod comes charging in and knocks down the Sentinel Buster with a punch. Iron Man has to hold the train to stop it from falling into the hole, leaving Magneto and Feilong to deal with Nimrod. Magneto tries to crush Nimrod in the coils but he gets gassed by Terrigen Mists as the killer robot claims that it knows the mutants' weakness to Terrigen Mists. Fortunately, Iron Man comes in to blow away the Terrigen Mist gas from Magneto. Thus, Iron Man and Magneto team up to take down Nimrod by using Mysterium and pure energy. As Nimrod is finally defeated, Magneto leaves the tied up Feilong to Iron Man who punches him in revenge for ruining his life.

So, the X-Men nod at the end was explained by the comics written by the showrunner and Iman Vellani. Like, the main Marvel Universe comics.
On Earth-616, and presumably on Earth-199999/MCU as well, Kamala is both Inhuman and Mutant. But she can't have both powers at once, they both work against each other.
On Earth-616, exposure to Terrigen Mists activated her Inhuman abilities and forced her Mutant abilities (which has been confirmed to be the hardlight) to be dormant.
So, presumably, on Earth-199999/MCU, the Negaband energies instead activated her Mutant abilities, while rendering her Inhuman abilities dormant.
Basically, the difference between each version of Kamala's powers is down to how each universe has played out, which is neat in my opinion.

While we still don't know what Kamala's mutant powers are yet, I love how although Emma Frost reveals that Kamala's connection to said-powers has been temporarily severed due to the Terrigen Mist unlocking her Inhuman abilities first, she not only has the ability to eventually reawaken them, but that once unlocked Kamala will be able to choose of her own free will whether or not she wants to maintain both sets of powers!
Tumblr media
Also, Kamala FINALLY got her Pakistani family heirloom bangles back! Apparently Spidey held onto them after Kamala temporarily died (uuuggghhh...) and then later gave them to Emma so that they could be returned to Kamala once she was resurrected on Krakoa? Bit weird, but still I'm glad she has them back! They make her costume feel more complete!

I'm a sucker for found family, Mortal Kombat and Spider-Man.
So, I was wondering if I could ask for a reader who's similar to a Tarkatan, with the mouth being all toothy, being friends with Insomniac Peter? I think it'd just be funny to have Peter be like 'yknow we've been friends for a while, you can take off the mask' and they just sit there like.

Ooh interesting, very very interesting. Let's give it a shot *cracks knuckles* word count: 811
It all happened so fast, one minute you were in San Francisco looking around the new West Coast Avengers base. The next, half the city was destroyed and people were infected with the terrigen mist. Turning them into Inhumans. Now you didn't develop right away. But when you got home in New York. That's when you develop your powers. Enhanced strength and reflexes but it developed abnormalities. Your bones seem to come out of your arms and turned into sharp spears. Not only that... Your mouth turned into lipless razer sharp teeth.
You were a monster, A living breathing monster, seeing the sight in the mirror made you scream in horror. Tears spilling from your eyes, You rushed to the A-day specialists but they said there was nothing that could be done as there was no cure for it. Spiraling into a week's depressive episode, trying to work around everything, specially eating food with razor-sharp teeth. When you do go out in public, you never leave without wearing a long-sleeved shirt to hide the spears and a surgical mask to cover up your teeth. It seemed to work, you looked like everyone else.
But when you met Peter at Doc Ock's lab when he and you were working as interns, you two quickly became close friends. Always never seen without the other. Peter made you feel slightly normal after everything that had happened. But to this day you never showed him your face. Fearing he'll scream in horror and run away. Never wanting to be friends with you ever again. The fear of that happening haunted you.
But one night, when you and Peter were hanging out in his apartment. He noticed you were still wearing your mask inside. It kind of confused him why you were always wearing your mask.
"Hey y/n can I ask you a question ??"
"What's up ??"
"It's been a few months since we met and that, But I've never seen you with your mask off. Your not gonna get sick inside here" He tried to joke. But seeing you shift on the couch uncomfortably made him realise this is serious.
"Hey... what's wrong ??"
He tried to place a hand on your forearm in comfort, but you held it against your chest so he didn't feel the bone. Tears once again sting your eyes. He was gonna find out. Your best friend was going to think you're a monster. Might as well get this over with.
"Peter... If I show you... please don't freak out"
"Y/n, your my friend. why would I ever freak out ??" He smiled comfortingly.
You then began to take off your jacket and rolled up your sleeves, revealing the bone spears. Then taking off your mask, revealing your teeth to him. You didn't even look at him. Waiting for his scream in horror, waiting for the fear in his eyes. All the anxiety and insecurity creeped back and it made you cry.
"Hey hey... it's ok y/n"
"No, it's not Pete !!! I'm a freaking monster, Look at me. I'm terrified of myself. I'm hideous. There's no cure for this..." You spoke through your sobs.
Peter didn't respond, he just let you let everything out. Letting you get all the frustrations out. Once you got everything out, Your voice was raspy and you were shaking. Peter then gently got up and walked to you, unexpectedly to you. He wrapped his arms around you, pulling you into a comforting hug.
"I'm so sorry that this happened to you y/n. I really am, But I'll tell you this now. I wouldn't trade our friendship for anything. You as a person matter more to me than how you look. Your my best friend y/n.. my best friend."
You started to cry again. This time from the overwhelming amount of love. Wrapping your arms around him back and holding him tightly.
"I'm a monster..."
"Your not a monster, Your y/n."
You chuckled at that. Feeling the anxiety and insecurity slowly subside and feeling the weight lifted of your shoulders.
"But I guess... since you told me this, I guess I have a secret to tell you too"
"What do you mean ??" You pulled out of the hug and looked at him in confusion.
He then stepped back and jumped, Jumping to the ceiling and pressing his fingertips on it, Sticking to it and then began to crawl around. You saw this before.
"Your... Spider-Man ??"
He gently nodded and then hopped back down onto the ground.
"But my point still stands. Your you and only you, I wouldn't want to change you in anyway possible" He smiled at you.
You smiled with your eyes. For the first time in a long time, you felt loved, accepted and secure. Your best friend wouldn't change you because you were you. Nothing more nothing less.
A/N: Terrigen Mist and Inhumans were plot points from the Square Enix Avengers game.

This weeks Ms Marvel was so beautiful. Kamala visualized her mother as she goes through the terrigen mist. The Arabic in the background is Ayatul-Kursi (a Muslim prayer). And we see her mom and her share the red dupatta. It connects them. And her mom calls her meri jaan. Iman used Kamala's religion, culture and inhuman side for this moment. And she punches her way out of the cocoon and is reborn inhuman once again. Love. Her first time through the mist was 🙄.

"This happens with John Byrne a lot. Most fans have just accepted that Byrne has one idea of continuity: his. If he returns to a book (such as The Avengers) that he previously wrote, expect all of the characters to immediately return to the characterizations and stories he was writing when he left, as if all of the ensuing continuity and characterization had simply not happened. Whether this is a good thing or a really terrible thing generally varies on the title, how Byrne wrote it originally, what happened since he wrote it, and whether you're a big fan of John Byrne or not.
When John Byrne took over Star Brand back in The '80s, he proceeded to launch one Take That! after another at the departing figure of ousted Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Jim Shooter. Star Brand was one of the Shooter-initiated The New Universe titles, and was the one that Shooter himself wrote personally. Byrne not only took ad hominem shots at Shooter personally, but had exposition characters hang lampshades on how implausible the events of Shooter's run was, and how stupid the protagonist Ken Connell had been. Early on in Byrne's run, Connell's girlfriend (a major cast member) got killed off; Connell later broke down and tried to get rid of his powers, destroying Pittsburgh (the hometown of both Connell and Shooter) in the process. This was referred to slightly in the Untold Tales of the New Universe story "Tales of the Mulletverse".
In the '80s, John Byrne had grown tired of Magneto's status quo as an Anti-Hero, and wanted him to fall from grace and return to a life of villainy. To achieve this, he and Walt Simonson wrote a story where he did indeed turn back into a villain, and released the New Mutants from his tutelage to boot. Chris Claremont was not at all amused by this, so he responded by writing a story that revealed Magneto was only pretending to be a villain so that he would draw negative attention away from the other mutants of the world.
One reason there's bad blood between John Byrne and Peter David has to do with Lockjaw, The Inhumans' dog. As created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Lockjaw was just a very large, mutated dog with a normal canine intelligence level. Byrne later wrote a Thing issue in which Lockjaw spoke for the first time, begging that baby Luna not be subjected to the Terrigen Mists, since their effects weren't always pretty — implying that he was a full-fledged Inhuman like the others, and the Inhumans had always treated Lockjaw as an animal solely because he looked like one. Thus Peter David revealed that Lockjaw's "speech" had been a prank on Ben Grimm. (As he tells it, this was a request from editorial; David himself didn't have a problem with the scene and wrote his retcon so that it was possible it was Quicksilver that was lying.) This fixed the problems with Byrne's story, but now the Inhumans were Jerkasses for a different reason: pranking Grimm in the middle of an important debate, at Lockjaw's expense. Fans of the Byrne story remain sore about this... and others remain sore about the Byrne story.
When John Byrne took over as writer on the West Coast Avengers, a title previously written by Steve Englehart, he proceeded to undermine four years' worth of characterization. Hawkeye went from confident leader to sidelined jerk. The Vision and Wonder Man relationship, that had evolved into a bond of close fraternity, returned to one of jealous contention. Tigra went through almost the exact same story arc of losing control of herself and succumbing to her feline side that Engelhart had put her through and seemingly resolved. And the Vision and Scarlet Witch marriage... was altered. After the Vision lost his emotions, their children were discovered to be pieces of the devil, after which The Scarlet Witch went insane. For some reason Byrne decided to hit the Reset Button and return the characters to a status they had outgrown in over a decade of stories. Some have accused Byrne of wrecking a title that Englehart had arguably made a success out of resentment over how Englehart had written the Fantastic Four, a title John Byrne had made a hit, although it is just as likely a case of Creative Differences.
On the other hand, Byrne's portrayal of Iron Man in Avengers West Coast (and later in Shellhead's own book) stayed fairly close to how Bob Layton and David Michelinie had portrayed him, although he did remove the weapons-testing aspect from Tony's origin story. He also kept team newcomer U.S. Agent pretty much in line with how Mark Gruenwald wrote him in Captain America.
Byrne & Chris Claremont had a feud of sorts in the 1980's, which started when Claremont wrote X-Men #145 where Arcade basically punks Doom and the X-Men force him to apologize, followed by a later story where Lilandra of the Shi'ar gives Reed Richards a "The Reason You Suck" Speech for saving Galactus' life. Byrne responded by later revealing that the Doom that dealt with Arcade was Actually a Doombot, and had Doom admit that the X-Men weren't even worth his time. Later, in FF #264, Reed was on trial for saving Galactus and was told by basically every cosmic being in the Marvel Universe that yes, he was 100% right in saving his life."
