Random Scogue/Headcanon Trivia: Scoguelings! Pt. 3!

Is obliviousness to romance an inherently male Summers’s trait?

Christopher Summers: told his sons when they were little that he worked hard to become a dashing, calm and collected pilot of the U.S. Air Force with the rank of Captain so he could successfully impress the daughter of his father’s business partner who co-owned the cargo airline company the former ran and ask for her hand in marriage, otherwise she never knew he existed. Katherine Anne later informed her sons that she had already been interested in him from the moment he tripped over his feet and fell flat on his face when their dads first introduced them to each other.

Scott Summers: had genuinely no idea Rogue harbored romantic feelings for him since their high school years. It was long after he and Jean ended their relationship to figure out what they both wanted, and during a mission he and Rogue were participating in, he had realized he was in love with the latter. After trying to rationalize with himself that he only thought he was in love with Rogue because of the less than ideal break up with Jean, and him and Rogue having to pretend to be a couple for their cover wasn’t helping, Scott came to the conclusion that his feelings for Rogue were sincere (regardless of when they started blossoming), via an accidental love confession that escaped while he was trying to comfort her after an especially harrowing moment in their mission. But there was absolutely no way he could even dream she’d ever feel the same way, since 1) she was incredibly cool in his eyes, so he was obviously not her type; 2) she had only recently broken things off with Remy as they both hit a snag in their relationship right when he was going to propose, and Scott didn’t feel it was right trying to insert himself in a situation to add to Rogue’s discomfort as she took time to figure things out; 3) She had been in his hs drama/theater class and in a play, so obviously she is good at acting like she’s in love with him while they pretend to be a couple for their mission….right?

Alex Summers: had thought Scott was dating Madelyne Pryor the whole time Scott and Rogue were trying to figure out/were actually in a relationship. Had spent several years trying and failing to convey his crush and love to Maddie…only by the time he gathered the courage to successfully do so…:

Alex: I…I’M IN LOVE WITH YOU!😣❤️

Maddie: I love you too 😁

Alex: ?! You do?!😳

Maddie: Of course! Hence us dating these past few years.😄

Alex:…😶

Maddie:…😀

Alex:…😦

Maddie:…you WERE going to finally propose after that confession…right?🤨

………

Alex:…we were DATING?!🤯

Maddie: We WEREN’T?!🤯

Greta* Wagner, Nightcrawler/Kurt’s daughter through his deceased wife, Amanda Sefton, certainly seems to think so when she tries to convince Kirby Paquin-Summers (Scogue’s eldest child and only son) of the ✨vibes✨ between her long widowed father and close family friend Katherine “Kitty” Pryde.

Greta: They make a cute couple, huh? *nods towards Kurtty, who are OBVIOUSLY blushing and making eyes at each other while they talk/flirt*

Kirby: *sees Kurtty chatting* They certainly are standing next to each other.

Greta:…

Kirby:…

Greta:…you are SUCH a Summers Man 🙄

Kirby: 🤨❓

*Greta is short for Margarete, who I am headcanoning for my AU is the namesake of Kurt’s adoptive mother (since in the comics, his adoptive mother’s name was Margali Szardos)

Kurt’s father is named Kristopher (in the comics, Kurt’s surname came from Baron Christian Wagner), and is no way in any shape or form connected to any mean anti-mutant barons sharing the same last name.

Random Scogue Headcanon/Trivia: Scoguelings! (<-reminder of what they look like as I make myself gradually evolve the wip into an official image 😅😭)

Their first two kids (Kirby and Roberta)’s mutations include being unaffected by the negative side effects of their mother’s mutation at least or completely immune to it at best.

When Rogue learns this after Kirby is born, she has a hard time trusting the news at first because what do you MEAN she can touch someone via skin to skin without any negative consequences without having to consciously regulate her emotions/hearbeat/etc ,but after the initial hesitancy, hardly a day goes by where she isn’t absolutely all over her baby boy, giving him smooches and kisses all over his chubby cheeks and tummy and feet and touching his grubby lil’ fists to her face.

Scott likes to tease her and tell everyone else that their two kids get more kisses from their mother than he’s ever gotten from her since they started dating and within their married life.

Their last and youngest child, Morrow, is actually the most openly affectionate kid in the family.

Unfortunately, the Inhuman’s terrigen mist temporarily (?) shattered Rogue’s fortified self-control and instinctual ability to depower her mutation during pregnancy, nearly killing Morrow by destroying whatever mutant genes she had while still in her mother’s womb and nearly having her life get snuffed out almost within a blink of an eye, and almost causing her to be legally considered stillborn while an emergency c-section had to be performed.

As a result, even though she is able to grow up to be a healthy and happy baby so far, the very nonmutant human Morrow is rarely able to experience physical contact with her own mother unless there are sufficient layers of fabric or clothing between them and poor Rogue is confident enough to rebuild her self-control of her mutation from scratch.

Random Scogue Headcanon/Trivia: Scoguelings! Pt. 2!

Rogue once lent Roberta ‘Bertie’ Anne (the eldest daughter and middle child (11-13) of the kids) her collections of her favorite books as a teen upon request for a book report.

Bertie: *At one point in the midst of reading through the pile of books* Momma, has Daddy (Scott) read any of these?

Rogue: Hah! Of course not.

Bertie: Why not?

Rogue: Oh, no reason. Just didn’t want him to think my taste literature was corny, and by the time it didn’t matter anymore and we bonded over other things, I just never thought about bringing them up. He reads his stuff and I read mine, and we’re just fine with that ~

Bertie: Hm. *resumes reading and note-taking*

Kitty made sure to let Rogue know a few days before the official book report presentation, much to the latter’s mortified shock, that Bertie submitted to the former a massive essay detailing how if her mom had bothered sharing any of her books with her dad, either 1) she, Kirby, and Morrow might have been born earlier and/or 2) had more siblings because the majority of the leading men in her books were almost carbon copies of Scott Summers in terms of looks, roles, personalities, etc, etc.

*recalls that he willingly became her Goblin Prince during Inferno, did it again and grinned like a doofus as she violently slaughtered demons and stuff in the newer comics*

……yes. Yes he would.

Don’t know when I’ll have Jean x Scott break up in my headcanon or when/if the X-Men: Evo writers where going to sink that ship since they planned for Scott x Rogue to finally be canon, but for me it will be before Dark Phoenix manifests.

Months or so after Jean’s death and the Dark Phoenix’s defeat, Scott confided in Alex his guilt about falling in love again despite all that happened. He did genuinely love Jean, but so many things happened that led them into breaking things off. If there was something he could have done differently, maybe Jean wouldn’t have become the Dark Phoenix. Maybe she wouldn’t have died along with all the others that perished during the arc. Maybe…

Alex is encouraging. He didn’t know Jean for long, but he is right to suggest that she wouldn’t have wanted Scott to deny himself or whoever he was now in love with the chance of happiness.

After some more time with most of the X-Men/Mutants/Morlocks managing to rebuild their lives and attempt to move on from the traumatic tragedy, Scott tells Alex he is ready to tell him about the girl he is falling in love with. The ‘Mysterious Goth Girl’—who at this point in my headcanon has now befriended both Scott and Rogue + becoming one if the few human allies to the X-Men—, happened to waltz by. Scott introduces Alex to her. She enthusiastically greets the younger blond Summers brother, recognizing him in his surfing videos. She lists all of her favorite vids of him (almost all) while gushing about how amazing his technique is, connecting his movements to flying (since I’m still going to have her learn to be a pilot despite additional interests and skills).

Mysterious (to Alex at this point) Goth Gal: Oh! Hold on, I’m rambling and I haven’t even introduced myself. 🤪 Sorry! I’m Madely—

Alex: *having already fallen head over heels* HII’MALEXANDERSUMMERSWHAT’SYOURNAaaaa-er…

Dead silence. Alex babbles about needing to wax his board (even though they are nowhere near a beach) and runs away in mortification.

Scott:…

Maddie:…he seems nice ✨😄✨

Poor Alex spends some time suffering from the guilt of crushing on his brother’s new ‘girlfriend/crush.’

Scott doesn’t help by how vague he is (either he and Rogue have no idea the other is also in love with them, or they know/have confessed by this point but are willing to wait for each other and figure out their feelings while they focus on helping the survivors rebuild their lives.), with all of his loving praise and description of Rogue being misinterpreted by the younger Summers to be for Maddie.

Is very confused by Scott’s nonromantic interactions with Maddie despite the former’s supposed affection for her. Insists to Scott to step up his efforts if he wanted to make things work (not realizing Scott is interpreting his comments for pushing him to do more if he genuinely wanted to be with Rogue)

It isn’t until he happened to witness Scott and Rogue reunite after their current missions were completed that Maddie approaches him and gushes about how Scott x Rogue were such a cute couple / conspiratorially invites him to help her get them together that Alex finally realizes that Scott x Maddie weren’t romantically entangled.

….Alex has no idea if he is gobsmacked that Scott was never interested in such a cool gal like Maddie, embarrassed that he misinterpreted everything, or absolutely thrilled that she’s not taken.

Random SCOGUE headcanon because I need to vent and don’t feel like writing coherently I’m sorry 🥲

Angel’s Wings

You know how Rogue and Scott were in that Music Store in 5th Avenue when they overheard some customers talking about Angel?

And Scott was listening to something and seemed into it before Rogue nudged him?

Well…*cracks knuckles to share stuff no one needs or wants to hear*

She was sharing with him her favorite goth alternative music.

Performed by her favorite musician:

GOBLIN QUEEN.

Scott had never heard of her. Rogue then explained that GOBLIN QUEEN is less of a mainstream artist and more of an underground/indie/anonymous one. She goes on to gush about her favorite songs (ex. A Nothing Being in a Nowhere Place) and albums she managed to buy/burned onto cds (ex. LIMBO and ANODYNE), but laments that she’s never been able to find the one called INFERNO.

By sheer dumb luck (aka contrived coincidence à la me), Scott manages to find an authentic copy of the album INFERNO later on. Did he get another cd Rogue liked by another goth band she liked beforehand for her? Of course he did. But he saw how her eyes sparkled and how animated she was talking about that singer. Also, the music he had heard was pretty cool. So he was always on the look out for it.

Unserious (?) sub-headcanon based on what Josh Whedon once said about Buffy Summers from Buffy: The Vampire Slayer:

Scott and Buffy Summers are cousins on his Dad’s side.

They probably were initially on “Christmas Card” terms with each other (maybe their parents had a falling out (Did the series ever mention if Buffy’s surname came from her mom or dad?) or something and that’s why they didn’t reach out after the plane crash that killed Christopher and Kate and separated Scott and Alex or they only took in Scott for a little bit before giving him to foster care.) and barely speak.

He probably reached out again via a video chat during some holiday occasion (some time after the events of Apocalypse), both of them going the usual ���how’s life? fine, how ‘bout you? same old stuff. cool, cool…” (bc she doesn’t know he’s a mutant and he doesn’t know she’s a vampire slayer). He offhandedly mentioned the INFERNO CD by GOBLIN QUEEN that his friend really wants and joked that his current Christmas wish was to find it…only for Buffy to comment that one of her friends had that album. Cue Scott begging Buffy for more information on how her friend got it, and he successfully obtains it for Rogue.

At this point, Rogue is dating Gambit (are they serious? is it casual? do they both genuinely like each other but are both knowingly distracting themselves from their unresolved feelings for others?) , while Scott and Jean are either still together (happily or is it strained bc they are starting to want different things in life and each other but are hoping to make it work regardless of each other’s clearer and conflicting focuses) or have quietly broken up.

Scott finally either found a lead via the previosly mentioned sub-headcanon or something else. Either way, it leads him to a random goth girl who looks oddly familiar, though he cannot for the life of him figure out why.

Scott: *trying to place where he has seen this girl before despite most likely never having met her in his life*

Mysterious Goth Gal: you’ll have a better chance of asking me out if you actually use your words instead of thinking them, chum 😜

Scott: ?!

He noticed she is has a tattoo that says GOBLIN QUEEN. He pointed it out and asked if she liked her music. Is unsure why when she answers yes she is grinning at him like she knows something that he doesn’t. She asks him if he’s a fan, or if there was a pretty goth girl he was trying to impress, winking at him.

Cue Scott talking about Rogue, anything and everything about her (save the mutant part), partially how she introduced him to the GOBLIN QUEEN’s music, but then evolves into how even the little things that she does or says he muses about with quiet admiration and fondness.

Mysterious Goth Gal: …*already jumped ship from making moves on him to shipping him like crazy with this girl he’s so obviously in love with like what*

Scott: *mid unconsciously simping for Rogue* and I wish I could find that INFERNO Album for her, but—

Mysterious Goth Gal: WAIT RIGHT THERE I CAN GET YOU A SIGNED COPY.

Scott: Huh?

Rogue was dumbstruck and ecstatic when Scott presented to her what he jokes is her belated Christmas gift when they meet up, asking multiple times how he got it.

He mentioned that it was autographed, so she opened it:

GOBLIN QUEEN: To Rogue: -insert obligatory autograph stuff- + PS. I wanted to give this to you for free, but your boyfriend insisted on paying full. What a boy scout. I’m rooting for the both of you! ;D

Rogue: ………………

Scott: ? What did she say?
