This is the most momentously stupid take I have ever seen.

Sure, CLAMP is going to throw their entire story, plot, narrative, foreshadowing, themes and previously established characterisation for some random Mary Sue that spontaneously popped out of the ether.

Even putting aside the fact that they’re big believers in The One True Love, it’s just terrible writing.

Also, Subaru and Arashi have interacted for approximately 2 panels in the entire manga.

I am baffled by how many posts on here I see which go alone the lines of "This character from this media is so toxic and acts so awful, and this situation is so wrong on so many levels, how can people justify liking this". This often goes hand in hand with trashing the author for not realising what terrible people their characters are, which must mean the author is a terrible person, too. The last one of these was someone smugly having a go because JK Rowling wrote Harry being a moody teenager, annoyed at Cho crying all the time, when he's the one also losing his shit all the time and dealing with anger issues in the same book. Because god forbid Harry, a fictional 15-year-old boy, shows a lack of maturity that's actually pretty spot on for his character in that moment. No, no, it's JK Rowling being a terrible writer and a bad feminist.

How has it become too difficult for people to comprehend that the point of telling stories is to hold a mirror up to society? To show the good and the bad, the ugly as well as the pretty. A story is NOT A FUCKING INSTRUCTIONAL MANUAL on how to be a good person living a perfect, virtuous life. Because that would be boring as fuck.

We safely live through terrible situations by consuming media in which those situation happen. Authors are not immoral, awful people for writing flawed characters.

I'm one of 8 people who will defend "The New Mutants", because you can see the layers of studio Tomfuckery which went on in it. The film isn't good, but it's got a great core idea: the director wanted to make "Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors", and the studio went: "Horror won't sell, make a Marvel." So reshoots. Trailer for "It" comes out. "Oh man, horror is BIG! Make it a horror!" I can then only imagine the director sarcastically fawning: "WHAT A BRILLIANT IDEA! I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT!" So reshoot after reshoot after reshoot happens.

And yet, the core concept, when the film comes out, is good! 5 kids with super powers locked in a building, confronting their nightmares and each other. The whole thing is encapsulated by the scene between Da Costa and Cannonball: The former is doing laundry, and about to throw his shirt away, the latter notices, asks if he is going to do that, and the former gives it to him with a smile like it's nothing. Done. Character's established. LITERALLY the next scene: "That's Guthrie, he grew up poor, that's Da Costa, he's rich." Come the fuck on, movie! The tone's fucked, from layers of meddling. Like, had you told me it was about a nightmare bear doing battle with a fire man, a human cannonball, a teenage werewolf lesbian and her girlfriend with dream walker powers and a Russian magician and her pet pterodactyl, I'd be like: "FUCK YEAH!" But then, the tone is "we're a Marvel movie and a horror movie and a romance" Fuck me. I defend it, I'm one of 8 to do so.

Terrible radfem takes..

As much as I'm getting used to the inability of people online to engage in any form of critical thinking, there's a noticable trend in the radfem posts the algorithm keeps suggesting as something I'd be interested in.

Honestly, 90%+ of these radfems (even the non-TERFy ones) just make it obvious they don't know what they're talking about, and when you stop to think about what they're saying, you realise how little they actually care for women's rights, or anything that could actually be considered feminism. These people aren't interested in gender equality, or even women's liberation, they're trying to enforce a hegemony of their own social philosophy wherein men are mindless violent sex pests and women are either faultless and virtuous crusaders or brainwashed idiots.

This is a subject that really interests me because I (28 years old) had computer classes in grade school where learning how to efficiently type was a big focus. As a result I have a very high WPM (words per minute) count and am an excellent touch typer.

However, I've heard that they started phasing out computer classes in a lot of schools because it's assumed that kids/teenagers already know how to use a computer in this day and age. But smartphones are more popular than computers now, and as result a lot of Gen Z/Gen Alpha kids are able to text very quickly but their typing skills aren't as good.
