➤ I don't quite remember if I've ever talked about it on Tumblr. I know I've talked about it somewhere. Just don't remember what.

Anyways, Teresa doesn't want to be remembered on the same level as Shepard. At least, not my portrayal for my Ryder. She may have became a Pathfinder and a leader, but she doesn't see herself having such a reputation like the commander. The only thing she wants to be remembered by as that person who is at your side. The person who saw you through the thick and thin and who helped you get out of a stick situation. She wants to be remembered as someone who is kind to those around them and inspired others to be the same.

This stems from the fact that she didn't have high expectation she will become the next Pathfinder. Everyone thought Cora would take over the role. Of course, Teresa will eventually find herself as a leader of some sort. Where she would end up, she's not sure. It didn't matter if this is before her father's involvement and interest with A.I. got the family to step down from their careers or after. So, she chose to be that type of person who is inspiring and kind. She knows she's not going to do anything life-changing or breaking history. No matter how much she dreams of these kind of moments, she knows it'll be foolish to do so. She knows she can do change, but again, nothing that breaks history and have her name go down in history.

That is until she became the next Pathfinder. While her sight on what she wanted to go down remembering as didn't change before and after, she just added onto it. She wanted to do what's best as a Pathfinder. To be someone everyone can look up to. And she's not the type to follow the rules down to the T. No matter how hard she tries, Teresa can never follow a rule to the exact depth, which everyone will learn - or already learned - this by now. It's why she is a bit different than most Pathfinders you see. Seeing someone like Avitus Rix, who didn't expect to be a Pathfinder himself, looked to her for inspiration gave her hope. It made her strive for what she wanted to do originally in the first place before she took over the role. To be inspiring and to be kind. She understands how someone like Avitus Rix feels where they didn't expect to get into a role they never thought to be in and wasn't sure if they were ready. She felt it like he did.

  "So how's civilian life treating you?" Shepard hopped back onto the desk. Some of the datapads that had been barely hanging on before now clattered to the ground. Shepard ignored them. She pinned Ryder with a strained smile as if hoping she would ignore them, too.   "Uh, I'm working with my dad, so 'civilian' is probably not the best word for it."   "So, you two've made up."   Ryder shuffled her feet, twisting the beer bottle in her hands before basically ripping the top of it off and taking a long pull. "Yeah, sorta mom's last wish, I guess."   Shepard flinched. "Yeah, I'd just heard about that before…I'm sorry."   "Thanks," Ryder nodded, forcing herself not to look away. "What about your family?" Aside from numerous cousins on Earth, Reese had a mom, stepdad, older brother, younger half brother, and a niece. They had mostly been close at some point. "Have you heard from them? I mean, you were technically dead for two years."   "Not technically," Shepard rubbed the scars on her face. Her eyes looked off into the distance. Ryder just waited for her to come back to the present, trying to not think about what Shepard meant. "Anyway, mom and dad visited just after I turned myself in. They were relieved to see me, at least. Nolan hasn't responded to any of my messages. Cameron sent me one message. That I was not his sister and I should never speak to him or Lily ever again."   Ryder's heart broke for her friend. "I'm sorry, Reese."   Shepard shrugged. "He's always been mad at me since I took our stepdad's name. Just trying to find an excuse to cut me out. I guess I should be relieved it only took murdering three hundred thousand people for him to do it."   "If it were that simple, they would've already had a very public trial and execution," Ryder said.   Shepard narrowed her eyes at Ryder. "Is that why you're here? To get the scoop."   Ryder snorted. "I'm not a narc or a journalist. I came because…I don't have a lot of friends and there wasn't much time left."   "What do you mean?"   "You heard of The Andromeda Initiative?"   "That insanity of Jien Garson's?"   Ryder laughed. "I'm not sure you're one to talk, L.T."   Shepard's eyes widened. "You're not…"   "They're calling my dad a Pathfinder. My brother and I are on his team. It'll be our job to find a permanent settlement for humans in Andromeda. Launch is next Friday."   She leaned back on the desk. "Well, that's a Merry Christmas."   "Yup…," Ryder tapped her fingers on the beer bottle. She needed to explain, but it was hard.

➤ As I've mentioned this in an ask before - as well as another post - Teresa isn't a firm believer she will break history or make a huge name out of herself. Not in the same level as Shepard. The only reason why Teresa holds a bit of reputation - and now, more because of her being a Pathfinder for humans - because of her father. Her father used to be part of the N7 program. So, I have no doubts he made a name for himself. That and with what he has been doing with SAM.

Anyways, Teresa never thought of herself to break history. She never thought she'll have a big reputation going on for her. Again, not on the same level as Shepard. She secretly wanted to, but after a while, she came to a realization she may never get to that level. Up until she became Pathfinder. I know I always keep bringing that up, but for my portrayal for my Ryder, it's a big game changer for her, stepping from helping with the Protheans studies and research to becoming a leader. One that is helping those around her. The same one she secretly thought about becoming. It's no wonder she is struggling to be a great leader.

hmm okay there are two i’ve been thinking about recently since i finished me3 again.

the first is that fandom makes a bigger deal out of the whole “cheating” thing re: not being loyal to kaidan in me2 than necessary! in the first convo with him the dialogue is described as “I wouldn’t cheat on you” but it’s just shorthand, shepard doesn’t actually say that and anyway Kaidan is like “you’re lying but i still love you” which is fantastic drama and i only didnt go with that bc mercy wouldn’t lie lol. then during the romance lock in he says shep cheated which is annoying sure but based on the way everyone talks about it i expected much worse. i was actually hoping for more drama lmao

the second is that i find the main discussions about the endings to be annoying lol. i don’t like the end but i think there’s good and bad in it. but i also find the “if you thought this was going to end happily then you weren’t paying attention” half of the discussion to be very condescending which annoys me more!! i don’t see why we must declare it perfect or completely irredeemable!

okay about real housewives i’m gonna do nj since that’s what i’m watching but. i do not understand the love of teresa lol like i know she’s the face of rhonj but i don’t find her endearing like other ppl seem to!

I find this particularly wonderful because Mal and Reese are the characters I think are the most well adjusted of my ocs, which may not mean a whole lot

25 What are somethings they find difficult to do? Or say?

Reese finds self care difficult. It's not so much her forgetting meals or sleep, but she always feels like every kind of trouble is her responsibility to deal with and if she can't she takes it very personally. So she tends to work herself into the ground.

Mal finds it difficult to show her darker side. All her friends recognize her dark sense of humor and sarcasm, but it's hard for her to show her grief or anger.

30 Do they dwell better in chaotic situations or more linear situations?

Chaotic, both of them do their best work and are happiest in cheerful chaos. There's just something about chaos that thrills them both.

38 How does your character unwind after a long day?

Reese does one of two things. When she still had one, she played guitar. Like soft classical guitar. Other times she meditates. She'd never call it meditation, but she puts her work aside and stares at the wall just focusing on breathing until she feels like it's time for bed.

Mal plays with Scout (her mabari) until they both sort of pass out in front of the fire. Often times she gets Anders involved and he's never sure how she's convinced him to get on the floor and let Scout jump on him.

39 What's your character's guilty pleasure?

I'm not a big believer in any pleasure being "guilty", but

Reese loves old black and white movies

and Mal hides "trashy" romance novels. Varric started Swords and Shields to tease her.

42 Does your character celebrate their birthday? If not, why?

Reese does and doesn't. Her family was never one to not celebrate anything any chance they got, and they were always good with the parties. As an adult she likes to at least get some acknowledgement of it but she's also in a situation where it's the last thing on her list to worry about.

Mal doesn't celebrate anymore. After they left Ferelden there were just so many other things to worry about and by the time she got breathing room in Kirkwall birthdays were just reminders of who wasn't there anymore.

47 What is your character's reaction when someone does something nice for them?

Depending on how nice, Reese says thank you and possibly hugs them.

Mal gets confused and embarrassed. She's the one who's supposed to be taking care of other people. She'll stammer a thank you and 'you really didn't need to' and tries to disappear at the first opportunity.
