Well, like any other kink or -philia, terato is something you get to define for yourself and chose to identify with or not. I can't decide what counts as teratophilia for you. I think the core aspect is, what do you mean by "creatures", and how human are these creatures that are objects of your attraction. Cause terato is attraction to the monstrous and non-human. But like, humanoids and human-look-alike monsters have a huge following too. Some humanoids lovers would consider that terato, some wouldn't.

Like, let's say someone's super into the idea of a shapeshifter creature. If the shapeshifter only shapeshifts into different humans, is it still a creature? Is it non-human enough? Do we ever see the "true" shape of the shapeshifter, does it even have one, or does it always need a human vesel, and if it does, is it monstrous "enough"? The concept of "enough" is up for you to decide. Some people would say loving a shapeshifter is terato by default cause monster; some would say it only is terato if it has a monstrous shape too or if it shifts into monsters and not just humans; some would say if it shifts into humans at all it isn't terato anymore. That's 100% subjective and for you to decide.

If you wanna give me examples of what these things you view as creatures are, I can give you my opinion, as in, would I define that as terato or not for myself, but I can't answer for you. (that being said, if you also just wanna share the objects of your monsterfucking attractions for the sake of sharing them and getting hype over them with someone, my inbox and/or DMs are ALWAYS open for some creature loving!!)

Now! as far as your other questions:

I have no personal experience with solo poly, because I have a life partner and I have only been in the non-monogamous lifestyle within the context of this anchor partnership + other partners that want to share my life and/or my partner's life in various ways. So I cannot comment on the solo poly experience on a level that would be satisfying or well informed enough for my standards. I,m sorry! That being said! I'd recommend getting in touch with your local poly comunity. Yes I guarantee you there's one where you are, even if you live in a small town. At the very least a bigger town nearby will have a local community, and you can reach your local people online. Us non-mono folks are everywhere. Google or look up on facebook for local poly groups; or reach out to your local queer community as we tend to have ties with the non-mono community as well; or reach out to your local kink/BDSM sommunity if you're involved in that as we also have strong ties with the non-mono community and often share sexual diversity spaces. There will be people there who can give better information about solo poly than I can.

Btw, i was wondering, how did you find about teratophilia? I learned about it mostly through your blog and had that awkward realization that it was following me since my teenage years...

I actually found out about it on this hellsite!

I don't remember what matters or queries I had typed in or tags that I clicked on, but I do remember seeing someone tag their work as 'teratophilia' and I was prompted to research the term and break up the word into its roots= 'terato' for monster or monstrous, 'philia' for love or appreciation of and the rest was history.

I was just happy to have a word for it since, like you, I had been attracted and intrigued by monster/nonhuman characters from my preteen to teen years all the way back to the Beast from BatB, Goliath from Gargoyles, Kisame from Naruto, and more.

Okay, I tried, I persevered, but this is too much.

Tumblr is already a memory-eating, sluggish, heavy website. New Xkit has an extension that supposedly speeds up tumblr, but it got outweighed by the other, heavier but necessary extensions. Now you put them under VPN and it’s like...early 2000s internet again. A lot of images don’t load, making the simple looking at the post a chore.

So, like many Indonesian tumblr users, I will run to Twitter. The problem is...I don’t know if there’s any terato twitter...

Does that mean I’m abandoning this blog (and therefore, my other blogs as well)? Maybe. Possibly. Depends on the ban being lifted or not. Look, I don’t want to abandon ship either; I haven’t been in a good place for the past few months, but this blog along with the terato community kept me going. The terato community has to be the most positive fan community I’ve ever been in. Perhaps because the word ‘philia’ is in it---it means love, and so this community is solely driven by love (and lust, to some extent lol). The love for monsters, love for loving monsters, love for being loved by a monster. And so it’s proven to be really helping for me.

But now my harmless positive drug is ripped away from me and I’m already feeling like I’m spiraling down to shitdom. That’s why I’m turning to twitter. It might not be the best place for writer, but I can post my writing on my barren Wattpad, so that’s okay.

I remember stumbling around tumblr and the internet one day and while I had an inkling of appreciating monsters/nonhumans being a thing, I never knew what term to use or what tag to type in. 

It wasn’t until I realized that I just needed to look at latin root words and start combining (’terato’ for monstrous and philia for, well, love, lust, etc) that I stumbled upon the community on this hellsite back when this hellsite was good. 

... And then @staff decided to be a bunch of idiots and nuke any tag heavily associated with nsfw material, people within the community started causing stupid slap fights (’myeh, teratophilia is ableist; I need another word for it’ No it’s not, shut up.), so that happy little creative period came to a crashing trickle.
