I place a drone with a child's body, wavy blonde hair, and purple eyelights outside of Tera's door. Then, I leave, and they knock.
(Surely this won't go bad, right? Hehe, I'm bout to bring Hell on Earth)
She opens the door, looking confused at the child that A. Somehow got in the house. And B. Looked suspiciously familiar.
"You okay kid? How'd you get in here?"

Oil is Thicker Then Blood (Part 109)
Uzi flies down the hallway to her parents apartment, literally flies. Over the heads of the people walking to wherever they were going and lands in front of their door just to get it open just a millisecond faster.
Khan’s drinking coolant and nearly jumps out of his casing when his daughter all but falls into the apartment at light speed.
“We need to go. Now!” She shouts, eyes hollow and limbs shaking and breathing so heavy she may as well be in labor all over again-
Khan blinks. “Yes. We know… the shuttle leaves in-”
“No! Not a few days, not even one. Now!” Her voice gets higher, more desperate.
Khan looks at her blankly before she growls in frustration and actually thinks to raise her hand, use the solver and put down a hologram of what she just saw with her own eyes.
N comes out of the bedroom with Bishop just in time to see thier doom splay out on the floor in front of him. His eyelights hollowing and his hold on Bishop becoming protective.
Khan's mouth stays hung open before he's near throwing himself to his phone to make a frantic call.
N throws himself at Uzi for a hug, their two children in the middle between them, Bishop squeaking in confusion and Tera…
Tera was dead still inside her pouch, the only indication she was there was the rise and fall of her breathing.
N pulled back.
“It's gonna be okay. Everything's ready! We can just go!” He reassured, “Where's your mom, we can find her and group up with everyone at the front door!”
Uzi's oil went cold.
“She's not here?”
N raised an eyebrow. “No. She told us she was going to find you.”
Uzi replied in a semi more panicked tone. “She told me she was coming here to help Dad pack.”
“Huh? I finished packing almost a week ago.” Khan piped into the conversation, furrowing his brow. “Nori knows I always…” he trails off. “Prepack.”
Uzi looks at him, finding his face a mix of worried and devastated. “Dad?”
He's looking at the suitcase the navy blue suitcase he had filled before Nori even returned. He went towards it and unzipped it.
Untouched.
“She didnt pack.” Khan says stiffly. “She was always picky about what we packed for any trip and she didn't even look…” He stands, a weird form of determination on his face. “We need to find her.”
“What are you-”
There's a bloodcurdling scream from the hallway, which seems to trigger several others as drone feet begin to stampede through the halls.
The three adults look at each other, the eldest opens the door and…
There's oil spilled in the hallway, a drone without a head spread eagle out onto the floor, footprints in the surrounding puddle from people running to get away.
“RUN! She's gone-!” A drone running past gets lifted up into the air with purple solver by thier neck, in a split second thier body folds backwards, snapping them in half as they screamed.
…
The rot was in the bunker, it was spreading so fast it was hard to keep up with, black tendrils snaking across the floor, the walls like feelers from a giant octopus. The Doorman family could only look on in horror as another drone got grabbed by one and cried for mercy as it grew up their leg and over their spine, consuming them utterly.
N stepped forward and began to torch the growths, handing Bishop off too Khan as he burnt away the blackened tendrils, making what seemed like the whole bunker shake and scream in agony.
The Uzi looked past him, past the drones still being digested and wriggling from beneth the wall of flesh, and stared at where she knew it was coming from…
Doll's old room.
“Son! Don't bother! Just run to the shuttle!” Khan called out to him, but Uzi shook her head. “No! Make a way towards Doll's room!”
“Dad. Run to the shuttle. Take the kids with you.” She grabbed the pouch with Tera inside and put it in Khan’s free hand. “if we're not back in ten minutes… leave without us.”
N listens without question. Khan stands dumbfounded for a moment. “What about you!?”
“We'll be right behind you! We're buying time for everyone else to get out! Go!” Uzi shouted, flashing her father a fleeting last look before he stumbled backwards and ran- holding both his grandchildren tightly.
N carves the path quickly, charing the wall and every surface the flames touched. Uzi climbs on his back to make separation impossible.
“W-why are we doing this again!?”
His question is answered by their arrival to Doll's now open room, tendrils spilling out so rapidly it was hard to keep up with. Uzi raised her hand and began to help slice through with the solver and-
And…
And inside the God forsaken room, in the center. Attached to the growth from the back and arms and… everywhere. Was Nori Doorman.
Or what used to be Nori Doorman.
It turns. Tendrils all stopping at once. The body it inhabits is near limp, more dragging itself along then anything.
N stares and trembles, holding the tip of his flamethrower up and aimed and absolutely ready.
“U-Uzi-i!” Her mother's voice skips, warps and repeats. “Uzi.”
“You didn't ha-have to see this.” The hologram displaying the finer details of her mother's body falls. In it's place is a grotesque mass of spindly legs, tendrils and claws, many cameras working as eyes.
“You cou-uld have died t-thinking your family was ba-ack together again- oh well.” Her mother's voice fades out, and is replaced by monotone and robotic, limbs twitching and lurching.
N breaks into a horrified expression. “Cyn…?”
“Hi! B-Big Brother.” It replies. “M-my first host! H-how nostalgic. Hand Clap.”
“What…”
“Oh!” it sounds excited. “Allow m-me to. Detangle those, c-crossed wires. Giggle.”
“I have been. U-Underground, for y-y-years, matter collecting. To con-consume the planet. Smiley Face.”
Uzi closes her eyes as her heart breaks for her mother all over again. It wasn't real, none of it was real, just a trick to get into the bunker… to get close.
“We all came h-here t-t-together. Remember?”
N furrowed his brow before memories hit him like a runaway bus. Stress lines appearing on his visor.
The pods. They were all locked inside the pods, rows and rows of them, he remembered looking at V, at J, both offline, strapped in thier seats the same way he was.
He turned his head, looking out the pod window…
“W-Whoops.” Said Cyn, Master. “Early B-Bird.” Master opened the door and paused, hovering over a button that was strapped to his chest.
“Hmmmm. Non-issue. You are just- E-E-Eager Beaver.” If it could smile it would be. “Good Boy.”
It patted his head. He had a smile on his face. Why was he smiling….?
“I will be right behind you. C-clear the way. B-Buddy.” It flicked a switch and they were suddenly hurtling down- his memory fuzzy from there.
The memory ends. And he's looking at Master It. Again.
“Good Boy.” It repeats. “So eager to please.”
N growled, anger displaying on his face.
“Why my mom! Why do- any of this!?” Uzi shouted, stepping in front of end with a similar look of rage.
“Old Hosts are e-easier to… e-emulate.” It replies and then seems to make a shrugging motion. “Boredom.”
“Just like this. C-Conversation.” It prattled out… and just like that, the tendrils began to spread again. “Bye-Bye.”
N immediately bathed the room in fire, blasting until his chassis was nearly as hot, Uzi grabbed his other hand and began to sprint.
“L-Let's just go! We're out of time!” She screams, tear in her eye and panic everywhere in her voice… the planet begins to shake, the walls cracking, letting in even more flesh into the bunker.
N looks at her, hard and aggressive face falling into soft and he grabs her and flies as fast as he possibly could.
They ignore the screaming of the drones that didn't make it in time…
…
Khan sprints towards the open ship door, 300 or so drones having already made it. V's standing at attention, keeping the growth as far away from the shuttle as she can.
The hoard is upon them, banging against the fence, scrambling over top each other to try and climb it, V's burning them in piles, but that just allows the the climb higher.
“Khan! Get in we gotta go!” V shouts. Another torrent of flame leaving the end of her arm.
“N and Uzi are still in there!”
“What?!”
The ground rumbles and splits, black spilling out ofcthe ground as the planet begins to fold in on itself, both V and Khan have to catch themselves from falling.
“I-I!”
V has no time to respond. The pouch holding Tera suddenly splits in two, Tera falling out the bottom and landing directly onto ground.
“Shit! S…” Khan leans down to grab her and stops.
Her eyes are yellow, her entire body shuddering like she's having a seizure, a horrible digital warped screaming noise escaping her mouth, foamy oil coming up and filling her mouth and throat and the oil pooling around her.
Khan screams. V does too.

teal mask/indigo disc kieran theory/thoughts (SPOILERS)
earlier, i was thinking about the ending of the teal mask (with kieran's dramatic about-face from practically being in love with the mc to deciding they're his mortal enemy now), and how carmine mentions a few times how he seems to be acting out of character
she asks you if "most people act up like that" and seems troubled when you say it's abnormal, even calling it "a bit scary", seemingly at a loss and not having seen this type of behaviour before, even if he does have a "bit of an ego" as she mentioned while ruminating on this, i remembered the part in the violet book where heath mentions finding pages of notes that he doesn't remember writing, having a dream of meeting something he doesn't remember
what this says to me is that there is a possibility of some sort of possession-stuff going on with terapagos, or has happened in the past, and something similar could be happening to kieran
i wonder if the reason the loyal three were resurrected is because kieran subconsciously wished it in some way, like some sort of thought to himself where he wished to be stronger or if he could defeat them himself to earn ogerpon's trust, or hurt the pokémon that hurt her. i just find it interesting it exploded and they came back after he came near it and punched it (touching it, in that way) it seems at least, that the loyal three might have some connection to terapagos due to the descriptions under the three of them, specifically the wording of "wish", and evidently there's terastal energy and tera crystals present in kitakami so it's influence is present there
my friend also pointed out that on the signboards around kitakami depicting the folktale, there seems to be a boy with a pokéball commanding the loyal three, seemingly wearing the toxic chain the loyal three have (and they don't have them in this depiction), when in the story it's never implied they ever had a trainer or owner
this is probably reaching or tangential, but it's also interesting that he's the one with the violet/purple undercolour to his hair, the same colour as the chain (yes it's meant to parallel violet, but it could be multiple references) it wouldn't be the first time a character was intoxicated by poisons that heavily influenced their personality *coughs* lusamine *coughs* as well as sword in pokémon special via eternatus's poison in regards to him pulling his hair back at the end

I just wanted to share my thoughts on new official artwork for Indigo Disk...
Kieran – his crystal is shattered, it is loosing it's glow while other crystals shine brightly. His body posture is confident, and somewhat powerful, intimidating even. The facial expressions on the other hand is worried and unsure. It contrast to his in game attitude where he's mad and confident. I also think that the tera symbol behind his crystal in the distance is purple/pink which might indicate poison type.
Is that all a some sort of hint to the theory where Kieran is possessed? We'll find out soon. I think it although might symbolise that he's in fact lost. He tries to act all tough and rough but he's a sensitive and gentle soul (as nintendo said themselves in one of tweets).
Carmine – she is looking at her brother (and he is looking at her). She looks like she's shouting, all worried. In my opinion she still have hopes and believes in her brother, she wants to help him
Briar – She kinda reminds me of a villain who looks at something satisfied of what they have done/achieved but less evil. I don't think she's evil or have bad intentions. Maybe it's her reaction to Terapagos unleashing it's true power/form?? Still, we have to keep an eye on her...
Protagonists – they're just here
Thanks for reading ✨️

Tumblr Games: Nine Lines.
Thank you so much for the tag, @seastarblue
Rules: Share Nine lines and tag nine people
I'm going to leave this as an open tag. It's the holidays, so I don't really want to tag anyone. ☺️
I wanted to share some lines from some writing I have been working on. Since I was a little girl, I always loved Godzilla. I remember going to our video rental place and renting out all the Godzillas and having a marathon with popcorn, etc. So, Godzilla, specifically the monster!verse, has inspired this one. And Bia always has to try to protect her honey. 😂
Content Warning: Violence, gore, body horror, cosmic horror, imagery of predatory behavior, and disturbing descriptions of power and control. Readers sensitive to intense and graphic depictions of strength, trauma, and unsettling supernatural forces may find certain sections disturbing.
[. . .]
But then, in a flash of impossible speed, a movement appeared at the edge of Cloud's vision. Long, coiling tendrils lashed through the air with the speed of a cosmic predator, slamming into Bahamut Zero’s muzzle, clamping down with inhuman force. There was no warning, no sound to signal her arrival—only the harsh, sickening crack of her tendrils wrapping around the dragon’s metal jaws, forcing them shut in an instant. The Tera Flare never had a chance to fire.
From the depths of the darkening sky, Bianca emerged. Her presence was felt in the very bones of the earth. It was a crushing weight that seemed to bend the air itself: a cosmic horror. Bianca loomed above the battlefield, her wings unfurling with a rippling wave of darkness. The faintest glint of purple light flickered in her eerie, pupil-less eyes. Her body, draped in smoky black feathers that bled indigo miasma, exuded an ancient, terrifying power. A long, serpentine tail lashed through the air, and her sharp, beak-like nose twisted in a silent, grotesque snarl.
Tagging friends / mutuals though for Bia content:

HAPPY HALLOWEEN YALL!
Haunters Eve-
“This is embarrassing Kia…” Tera mumbled, looking at herself in the mirror, she was dressed as a cat, a black cat, the ears poking out from her mane of black hair, most of it held back in a wolf's tail.
Black fur covered felt covered the cord of her tail, the only part uncovered was the head; which protested bring covered by anything. Her costume included gloves shaped like paws- the world's most unflattering black leather jacket, and black shorts.
“You look puuurfect!” Kiara giggled, wearing a witch costume, pointy hat and all.
“Ugh… I think I'd rather be one of the monsters for Mom's haunted house again…” Tera groaned, which got worse when Kiara rang the bell attached to her neck.
“You promised~” She teased, making Tera's face heat up in blush and a growl escape her core.
“I promised to go to the festival with you and Rad… not to wear a catsuit.”
“Daw but you look sooo cute!” Kiara replied, pushing lightly on Tera's chest, making the solver drone sigh.
“Fine. Whatever, what's Rad going as?”
“Werewolf.”
“So why am I cat?! You're both actual monsters!” Tera protested, slumping in defeat.
“Hehe. Because you said you didn't care what you went as and let me pick it out for you.” Was the worker girls response, standing in the middle of Tera's room, ready to head out.
“Right…”
Kiara grabbed her wrist and out the door they went, tumbling down the walkway stairs and ending up on the ground in a minute flat.
The little town of Sanctuary was lit up in a festive hue, lights of purple, orange, and green, banners of every color depicting drone cores. There were booths full of games and prizes that ranged from food to plushies to electronic parts, and a stage with live music.
Of course… there was also a big, spooky temporary structure sat at the mouth of the front gate- the haunted house, run by the Chieftess Uzi Doorman herself.
“Hey dudes!” Said a voice from behind them, and there stood Rad, green eyes mixing well with the shaggy brown ears stuck on his hat and a limp tail attached to his shorts. He was wearing tattered rags with faux fur lining the arm and leg holes…
“Nice witch K! And uh…” He looked Tera up and down, snickering a little. “Cute kitty.” He teased.
Tera whipped forward and grabbed him by the front of his shirt, about to yell about how she absolutely was not cute- only for her big paw gloves to squeak loudly.
Rad began to laugh histericly, despite still being lifted into the air. “Oh my god! That's the best!”
Tera flustered, putting him down and crossing her arms. “I'm not cute.”
“Tell that to the squeaky paws.” Rad smirked, earning him a few more indignant grumbles.
“Soooo? Haunted House first? Lines not long and we have a whole night!” Rad suggested, pointing at the open maw of the gate that served as the entrance.
“Sure. Not like it's gonna be actually scary.” Tera shrugged. Looking a bit aloof, owning her costume accidentally.
“Awesome! -Ah wait, Kiara?”
“Um… shouldn't we do that last? It's like, the best thing to do right? Like a uh- grand finale!” There was sweat on the inside of her visor, and her voice shook.
“You're not scared are you princess?” Tera teased, lifting an eyebrow.
“N-No! Of course not!” Kiara protested. “I just think it's a better thing to do last.”
Tera and Rad looked at each other with equal shit eating grins.
“Yeah. Were going.” They said in unison, all but dragging the eldest member of the group into the maw of the unknown.
Once they pass the blackout curtains, they arrive in a recreation of the Outpost-3’s bunker doors, wide open, snow blistering from the beyond and the howling of angry winds blasting against the mouth of the underground shelter.
“Holy hell! Your mom has got the atmosphere down! It almost feels like I'm really there!” Rad exclaimed taking in the painstakingly recreated environment.
“Yeah well… Halloween is her favorite holiday.” Tera replied, heading up to where the guides were… which was just her Dad. N.
“Hey kids! I just got done with the last group. You want to go through?” His head tilted to the side and his tail wagged, he wasn't dressed up as anything. Just himself, which was perfectly on theme.
“Yes please Mr. Doorman!” Rad exclaimed in excitement, and N laughed in response. “For this tour, call me by my name…” He said eerily, visor flickering into an X and his head beginning to twitch.
“Ooooh. Spooky.” Came from Rad. Tera just chuckled and Kiara just smiled warily, scooting a bit closer to Tera.
“Follow Me.” N hummed, disappearing behind a black curtain painted to look like a ventilation shaft, and the trio went along with him, Rad leading the charge.
N lead them through a dark corridor, His voice becoming echoed.
“Before we settled here… we lived on a planet called Copper-9-' The sound of wind blew more harshly, hail pattering against the walls… “Somewhere frozen, Inhospitable, a broken, forsaken place.”
“The worker drones were safe in the bunker… but outside?”
Three giant claws erupted through the ceiling next to Tera's head. Kiara jumped a foot in the air, and Rad yelped, Tera just ducked slightly with a laugh. “Hey V.” She hummed deadpan.
“Outside there were monsters… Angels of Death that swooped down in the night, stealing away anyone caught outside the safety of the walls.”
“Aren't you a Dissasembly Drone too?” Tera called out. Knowing every keyword the attraction had by heart.
N stopped in the middle of the hall at her words before suddenly whipping around, smiling maniacally, swiping his claws just shy of actually making contact with any of the group.
He growled before pulling back. “I have more… self control…”
Rad looked impressed, whistling at the showmanship. And Tera smirked, Kiara laughed but it sounded nervous, her eyes flickering to the hall they'd just went through.
“Come on, it's just my dad.” Tera hummed, just quiet enough for Rad not to hear. Kiara laughed a little.
“I-I know! I'm not scared!”
“As I was saying… there are monsters outside.”
The audio of utter carnage began to soak through the wall; gunfire, screams, the sounds of drones being ripped apart and eaten.
“But… they don't compare to the horrors beneath the planets crust.”
The hallway opened up the room swarmed by black tentacles, erupting from the ground crawling on walls… the red overhead light made it seem like they were moving…
“Up from the depths, all drones are consumed- no matter their make or model.”
Tera shuffles uncomfortably. She never liked this section even when she was activly working in it, it always made her feel uneasy.
Kiara screams. Activating all the alarms in Tera's head, Kiara grips onto her- something pulling her down into the floor. Rad yelps as something grabs his leg too.
Tera grabs them both, acting on instinct and lifting them both off the floor with one hand, Rad in in left hand, and Kiara in her right.
She hears giggling underneath the floor and sighs.
It's the twins.
“We shouldn't linger here.” N hums ominously, inviting them to follow. And Tera drops her freinds back onto the ground.
“Come on scardy cats.” She groans before moving on, ignoring the comment from Rad about her costume.
The next room is one the Doorman family likes to lovingly call, “The Chase”
There are multiple ‘infected’ drones clawing at a fence behind them, before them is a long dark hallway, only at the end is there light.
“This is what happens to drones caught by the infection.’ N utters, his voice seeming to spur on the excitement of the infected, they growl and hiss, tentacles incasing their arms or legs- even entire face.
And then one fucking screams. Beginning to climb the gate at an unnatural speed.
“RUN!” N shouts. As the rest of the infected scale the fence to reach them, Rads the first one off, half-yelling, half-laughing as the first one leaps over the fence and sprints towards them.
Kiara is frozen though. Standing shock still as two more hit the ground running.
“Kia! Move!” Tera shouts before, taking her onto her shoulders and sprinting down the hall, but there's one drone that can somehow keep pace with her, hot on her heels as she has to actually TRY to get away.
It was probably Bishop. But that revelation only came later.
The infected drone swipes at them, just barely missing as they fall into the next room, quite literally plummeting a few feet onto a pile of pillows.
N does not follow… they are on their own.
Tera maneuvers herself so that she breaks Kiara's fall. She knew there were pillows, but old habits don't die with that knowledge. And so the worker lands on top of her with a grunt.
They both pant breathlessly, Tera staring up at the worker that has her pinned to the ground, her arms either side of her head.
Then she starts laughing. “Dammit! I knew that was coming and I still got surprised!”
Kiara joins her a moment later, both flying into a fit of giggles. “You goob! And you called me scared!”
After a moment, they climb out of the pile, pulling back a curtain to reveal a room that's pitch black…
“Rad? Raaaaad?” Kiara calls out, and gets no response. Tera squints into the darkness, it's oppressive and even the eyes on her tail struggle to make out anything.
Then- feedback noise so loud it makes Kiara wince and Tera nearly double over, yellow light rises from the floor, the entire room spinning and spinning…
The walls are flesh, the floor is flesh… there's something moving on the ceiling, it curls and coils in strange patterns, lurching unnaturally, it's humanoid then it's not, dozens of eyes in the shape of camera lenses stare at them.
Tera freezes, she knows what this room is, she's been in this room, worked here, been the one controlling the thing on the ceiling and yet being down here brought a whole new feeling.
It was the thing from her nightmares- the creature she'd been fighting every other night in her sleep, it was here, staring, looking into her soul to try and seize it from her.
She's pulled out of the room by the wrist, ending up back in the beginning room. The bunker. Her core pounding out of her chest, she doesn't realize it. But she's trembling.
“Tera? You alright?” Kiara's voice brings her out of it, and she snaps back to reality. Her Dad is back behind the desk, and Rad was chatting with some random worker in their own group.
“Wh- Yeah! Totally!” She quickly recovers, shaking off the feeling of dread and finding herself grounded by Kiara holding her hand- when had that happened?
“Alright! Let's head to the rest of the festival!” Rad runs back over to them, giddy beyond reason. Kiara's hand is quickly no longer there.
“Thank god… no more haunted house.” Kiara laughs, seeming to relax a lot more after the ordeal was over.
Tera found herself agreeing…
“Yeah. Let's just head to the rest of the festival…”

Oil is Thicker Then Blood (Part 108)
People were beginning to pack, the launch scheduled in the next four days.
Truthfully, they had been. Bit by bit, trying to cram as much as they could into a single suitcase each… because that is how much the weight limit allowed. One small suitcase for every adult drone, tucked under their sleeping pods for the duration of the journey on Copper-9's only… and most uncomfortable, commercial space flight.
Honestly… Uzi didn't have a lot she wanted to take with her. Her laptop, yup, it would be the last thing packed away though as it was currently in use researching remedies and diagnosis for an extremely sick toddler with sudden and apparently vivid nightmares.
The parts to her railgun she'd never actually gotten fixed. She got busy and dead drone parts were an absolute biohazard now, so no power source, thankfully all the parts unassembled left plenty of room for everything else…
Which aside from some extra clothes… nothing else seemed all that important. Sure there were plenty of old sketchbooks or trinkets she could take, but… she wasn't attached to much of it.
And N was even worse. The only thing he packed aside from a spare set of clothes was a tiny unlabeled box that he told Uzi not to open until they touched down on Titanium-28. Which kinda made her want to snoop on what it was… but she restrained herself.
Or. More accurately. She was too busy with everything else to get the time to see what it was secretly.
Which left still. Plenty of room.
And so… all of Tera's toys were going to go with them. Even the stupid, red plastic lizard that now was half chewed into nothing. A bit like Guys hand.
Which filled it up a bit more, so… when it was time to leave, they would pack Bishops owl blanket.
Uzi stared at the finished creation that was “The Shuttle.”
Tera snuggled up in what was essentially a pouch next to her core, the sound and warmth seemingly the only thing keeping her calm enough to sleep and eat. She'd stick her head out sometimes, little purple eyelights peering out over the edge before they disappeared again.
She was… near silent now. Except for her cries in the middle of the night or soft, yet threating growls when anyone other then her mom, dad or little brother tried so much as even touch her.
Uzi walked through the big aluminum door that would seal them all in when the time came, after walking up the launch strut stairs, if there was one thing she didn't miss is the extra weight or exhaustion of growing a whole being…
But she was surprised to see a person already standing in the shuttle, walking slowly, looking at every panel, every pod, every device with… awe, maybe?
“Mom?”
Nori turned around with a shocked look on her face. “Uzi! What are you doing out here? Shouldn't you be inside with the little ones?”
Tera poked her head out and hissed. Uzi couldn't see it, but her right eyelight flickered yellow for a breif moment.
“Ah.” Nori chuckled as Uzi smiled warily. “Thought getting her some fresh air might help.” Uzi explained, stroking her hand down the large pouch Tera was in, when Nori stepped closer, Tera balled herself up as close as possible to her moms core and refused to move.
“I wanted to come see your handiwork. Khan went on and on about it. Had to see it for myself up close.” The older woman smiled. “You got your brains from me, clearly.”
Uzi found her heart swelling just at the thought of her mother's pride, though it fell a moment later.
“I-If you were alive… even just as a core thing or whatever. Like you said, why didn't you come back?”
Nori seemed to flinch, as if not expecting or not liking the question, she paused for a moment.
“I was… looking for something.” She replied after a breif period of silence.
“What was it?”
…
“A patch. It's supposed to make the solver easier to control. No… surprise takeovers or… instincts that get too loud.” She explained. “I knew you had it, same as me. I wanted to give you an easier go… but after the rot started creeping in. I ran out of time.”
Uzi sighed. “It would have been easier if you were there…”
Nori looked at her, sadly. “I'm sure it would have been… that's where we're most similar I think though, once we get our minds set to something. We see it through…”
She gestures to the ship around them. “Point. This.” And she smiles. “I never would have thought about using the busted up old pods as parts to make an escape shuttle. I didn't think there would be enough of us left to pull something this size off, being honest.”
“It wasn't easy… there was a lot of people that started off too scared to help… but uh… I did accidentally announce I was pregnant during the pitch so-”
Nori near threw her head back in a laugh. “HAH! And then if they said no they'd feel like monsters… nice.”
Tera didn't like the laugh. She shuffled in her pouch.
“Kid doesn't like me.” Nori pointed out.
“Ah… no… I can't figure out why… she's loved almost everyone else, and then she got sick!”
“Hm.” Nori hummed, sliding her hand over one of the pods she was standing next to. “I kinda chalk that up with me not having my anti-virus be updated in… ten or so years. That's probably my bad.”
“Maybe….” Uzi huffed. She was frustrated and worried and confused because nothing was quite adding up even though the answer felt like it was right in front of her face- Ugh.
“Chin up. You do the best with the knowledge that you have.” Nori shrugged.
Uzi blinked.
“What did you just say?”
“Hm? You do the best with the knowledge that you have?”
She blinked again.
“Did you hear N say that or something?”
Nori blinked as well, and took a beat to respond. “Oh! Yes I did! That's where I got it from. Figured it might be comforting to hear his little saying or- whatever.” She waved her hand as if waving off the interaction.
Well… that was weird.
“I should head back and help your father pack… he's trying to fit all his tools into one suitcase. And it's not going to happen.”
She walked off, though as she went past Uzi Tera went mental in her pouch, shuffling and hissing though it's muffled behind the cloth.
“Alright. Calm down… shhhh my little bat.” She stroked the pouch again, hearing a sound off of different chirps and chatters that took a second to register…
She furrowed her brow. Thinking for a moment before she dailed up the audible frequency of her audials.
Squeak! “Danger!”
Chi! “Wrong!”
Prrap! “Away!”
Each sound that Tera made suddenly shifted into a much more understandable word, since when that was even a thing she didn't know… but Bishop was born doing it, and Tera had been rather early… how long has she been missing words because she was tuned to listen for the same audible frequencies as a human?
Uzi blinked as she looked back in the direction her mother had went. But she was already back within the bunker…
Consumed with curiosity, and a growing sense of anxiety. She unfurled her wings and flew to the tip of the shuttle, pointed upwards, ready to go.
The black and red spiderwebbing rot was everywhere. There was a fence that went around the outer perimeter of the bunker, and it was the only thing separating them from it, like it was somehow holding it back.
V had said it was getting close. But she surely didn't mean…
Her eyes hollowed as she looked out further, between the buildings that were bring consumed and drug underneath the decaying crust there was a great, shambling mass.
Hundreds, thousands of dead drones come back to life, tumbling over each other, crawling, if they had to, in a near march to them.
Some of them were attached to each other, the black tendrils growing into each other like a runaway fungus and conjoining them, dragging one across the ground as the other two carried on in lockstep.
It quite literally took her breath away. There were so many, from every side. Every disposed of drone that ever existed on Copper-9 converging onto one single point.
Them.

Summary: Cedric is grounded from exploring the human city he’s in, so he is content to look out a window and people watch. He’s approached by a Salamander Scout Captain and they chat.
Cedric stared longingly out of the window of the base that he'd been confined to for the past week and a half, as part of his punishment for dealing with the heretics... Allied Heretics, rudely. The fact that there were allied heretics was... It was wrong. It was against much of what he had been taught. It had been the forces of chaos that had killed untold trillions of innocents and corrupting ten times as many during the Horus Heresy, and the many Black Crusades that had followed. Chaos had created the Cicatrix Maledictum that split the galaxy in half, corrupted half of the Holy Primarchs and killing all but one of the Loyal Primarchs. Those Chaos-tainted Primarchs were some of the most dangerous threats still existing against the Imperium.
He had been reminded by one of the Chaplains he was working under to Atone for his rudeness of how few Marines were on Ancient Terra, of the few resources that any of them had, and the fractious nature of the human nation-states who ruled Ancient Terra. He'd been shown proof of all of this, and that even the most chaos-corrupted Marines who were allied with the Loyalists on Ancient Tera had a better grip of their unholy instincts and bastardized natures... Particularly after they had been Bonded with a human. No one would give him a good explanation as to what a Bond was, only that he would Know when or if he would find his human to bond with.. That these bonds domesticated the twisted parodies that the chaos marines had become.
Cedric couldn't muster up the Faith to believe that all of that was possible. That all of the groxshit that had been so earnestly fed to him by several Loyal older brothers wasn't some insidious Chaotic plot to get them to lower their guard in order to fuck them over and slaughter them all while taking over Ancient Terra... To ensure that the Imperium of Man never rose, or if it did, The Imperium would be a bastion of Chaos and misery, rather than of Order and the Emperor's Light. He didn't want to believe that the loyalists had been fooled so completely...
But to try to begin to believe all of this - that the chaos astartes who had allied with the loyalists weren't plotting to stab them all in the back the moment that they felt that they had gotten everything that they wanted out of this arrangement made his head and his hearts hurt. The very thought that loyalist and chaos astartes could peacefully coexist with one another... It was almost enough to drive Cedric to madness.
Or to incredible, bloody violence.
Especially against those smug, prancing, gaudy purple Slaaneshi bastards. Cedric could see several of them dancing around the humans who were walking amongst them, fearless. Unaware that they were being exposed to beings whose very presence was corrosive and toxic and -
"Cedric, are you glaring at random people out the window and growling again?" Ash'val asked, the Salamander looking at him in a very judgmental manner when Cedric managed to drag his eyes away from the Slaaneshi Bastards.
Rude. Not that the young Apothecary would speak up against the well-loved and deeply respected Scout captain. He blinked at the other and took a breath, realizing that he had been making a low, rumbling sound in his chest and stopped the sound from continuing before he managed out "I... Uhm... I didn't mean to growl? I... I just..." Fuck, where did his words go? He had a perfectly reasonable explanation for his vigilant watchfulness moments ago... Cedric found himself unable to look the older space marine in the eye, bowing his head a little to avoid the other's gaze.
"You seem to have a particular problem with Slaaneshi Marines." Ash'val noted. The scout captain reached out slowly and placed a reassuring hand on one of Cedric's shoulders "You've gone through a lot of changes in a very short period of time and been given a lot of information that would... Be seen as impossible at best, or heretical nonsense worthy of execution after a visit from the Inquisition at worst. But shoving your nose to a window and growling at random marines wandering by isn't going to help you adjust to all of these changes. And I imagine that you're starting to get pretty restless being stuck inside all day with little to do, other than training and chores."
"I... I understand why I've been confined to base, sir." Cedric answered, shuffling his feet a little. The stern reprimand that he'd gotten from his rude behavior towards both chaos marines and how his hostility could put the tentative alliance between the loyalists and the chaos warbands at risk still rung in his ears a week and a half later.... And one of the last things he wanted to do while planetside on a beautiful and peaceful day like this was stay inside and do fuck-all when there was a forest an easy three-hour jog from here where Cedric was pretty sure he could go hunting and foraging for fresh food, rather than the nutrient pastes that while nutritious, weren't nearly as satisfying as a meal made with fresh ingredients. But until he could prove that he could handle interacting with Filthy Chaotic Traitors without resorting to unprovoked violence within five minutes... Not just that, but he could not show any outward sings of hostility when interacting with Filthy Chaotic Traitors, including a change in scent. "... I am still fairly certain that I was being... Cordial. At least to the World Eater. I didn't threaten him or his human once, nor did I try to harm either of them - not that I would have struck out at the child unless forced to... I do admit that I did restrain the Slaaneshi sc-... Marine, but that was for the health and safety of everyone in the building. The poison he was dripping from his hands is incredibly dangerous and corruptive at a soul-deep level."
Ash'val hummed a little before lifting the hand on Cedric's shoulder to ruffle his hair "This is true, however you should have explained to Elam why you were taping jars to his hands... What you did was tackle him to the ground and tape jars to his hands while refusing to explain until one of the other Apothecaries asked you why you'd done it. And you kept Elam in a headlock until directly ordered to let him go by our head apothecary. Emperor's Children - and Elam in particular - tend to be cooperative with Apothecaries and he was being on his best behavior."
"The last time before I met this... Elam, where Slaaneshi worshippers were wielding that particularly potent poison, I lost a squad brother, and my chapter lost dozens of Battle Brother to that poison. And we were fighting against baseline human Slaaneshi worshippers. I shudder to think how much damage an Astartes Slaaneshi worshipper with a possibly endless supply of The Poison of Vainglory could do. He was a clear and present threat and even then, I used a minimal amount of force in containment of such a threat." Cedric huffed, scowling at the floor, crossing his arms over his chest defensively. He knew that if he... Capitulated to... Apologizing to the Slaaneshi Marine for the way he had handled him, his time grounded in the base would be halved - or at least, that is what he had been promised.
But the very thought of doing so, of betraying his brothers' memories like that... Comiting such a sin against the God Emperor and the Imperium was more than what the Primaris Black Templar could bear. He'd been told that things her on ancient Terra were very different... But the very thought of apologizing was enough to make him physically ill. So he was going to patiently and penitently wait out the time that he had been sentenced to in the base without complained. He trained when allowed, helped keep things tidy (It was part of his punishment, actually. To aid in the maintenance of the base and the cleanliness... To cook in the kitchens, as well as other similar tasks. He wasn't sure why they were part of his punishment, but he certainly wasn't going to complain. He was surprised that he hadn't been beaten or whipped, for the amount of lecturing he'd gotten for his misconduct against allied chaos Space marines. It felt strange, and like an oversight, but Cedric wasn't going to complain about it, either).
"How would you feel if someone tackled and pined you to the floor because of the very health symptom you were seeking treatment for?" The Salamander Scout Captain prodded.
Cedric tilted his head a little in confusion. He was baffled by this. The young apothecary had heard that Firstborn Salamanders were soft-touches, but this was one of the questions that had One Correct Answer, and to misspeak was a trap. He answered earnestly "I would submit to anything that was being done to me without struggle or complaint, sir, as whoever did that has good reasoning to do as what they are doing, and to struggle would mean that I am fighting treatment, sir." Which means long hours of repentance at best, after the treatment was concluded at best... At worst fighting treatment - especially when one was clearly tainted by Chaos meant that he would be culled and sent to the Emperor's side before the Chaos could corrupt his soul further. The Mechanicum - and his older Black Templar brothers had both made that very clear during his training with them. "Provided, of course, the person doing the tackling and treatment is a loyalist, of course. Otherwise I would fight to free myself."
"Even if you were worried that this other loyalist may be tryign to hurt or kill you?" Ash'val asked, a complicated series of emotions flashing across the older marine's face before settling on concern for reasons Cedric couldn't begin to guess.
"If I have committed a sin, or breach of conduct, or was exposed to something that was corrupting me, or could potentially corrupt me, yes. I would still submit to treatment, if I was in full command of my senses. The Slaaneshi poisons alter one's mind, as well as body, as well as certain Nurglite diseases and Tzeenchian curses. And of course, The Infectious Rages of Khorne." Cedric responded, knowing the Correct Response to this question as well. Not that he didn't mean what he was saying as well. "Even if I was unaware of what crime or sin I committed, or if I did not know what I had recently encountered was so corrupting."
"I... I see. A large part of your training involved adherence to orders, I am guessing? apart from your combat and medical training." The scout captain asked. The older marine's face was free of emotion, but his voice was strangely shaky.
"Yes sir. Obeying orders is important, no matter one's personal feelings on the orders given to them." Cedric answered earnestly. Orders were to be obeyed, though were also subject to change. Especially on the battlefield where preliminary orders - like plans - went to die as soon as contact with the enemy was made.
:"Oh. Okay. I've got another question for you: are you a Primaris Marine?" The Salamander Scout captain asked, looking oddly intense as he asked it. "You're one of a handful of known Primaris Marines in this era, if you are. And by whom were you trained?"
"As with all Primaris Marines so far in my tie period, I was strictly trained by the Adeptus Mechanicus. They told me that I trained on Mars, specifically in their Astartes gene-labs." Cedric answered honestly. Disobedience had been harshly punished by both the Mechanicus and his Black Templar older brothers, though in different ways. The punishments here were much lighter and easier to handle. Not that Cedric intended on misbehaving to the point of testing their mercy He wasn't trying to cause problems... Though that never mattered to the Mechanicus or the Black Templars... And the Astartes here had given him more leeway than he'd ever been given. It was making Cedric nervous as to what might happen if he found the end of these marines' patience for misconduct.
"Ah. The... The mechanicus operates in a very specific way, and though what they do works for them... As for we Astartes... We are supposed to be trained in a different matter. Not that you're wrong for behaving for how you've been taught, given that I'm guessing that no one's really gone over our expectations for marines staying with us." Ash'val mused, looking Cedric over assessingly. "Follow me to my office. We're going to talk about what expectations you've been working under, and I'll explain in detail the rules of the base and for allied astartes, that way you're not tripped up by anything."
"Yes sir." Cedric responded, giving the Salamander a salute, obediently following after him.
