This time, I want to introduce two minor characters from my game, Teleny, who are largely my own creations: Leonell des Cestreviel and his sister, Marquerite. So… who are they?

Marquerite and Leonell are the infamous aristocrat twins. They're odd, sarcastic, and sometimes teeter on the edge of outright hostility. Yet, beneath their prickly exteriors, they share a deep, unshakable bond and will always come to each other's aid, no matter the situation.

Marquerite is loosely inspired by a character from the original Victorian novel The Reverse of the Medal. In fact, I combined several minor female characters from the source material into her to give her more depth. As I've mentioned before, the book has a habit of introducing characters in a single sentence, only to never mention them again. Marquerite became one of my favorite ways to fill those narrative gaps and bring something richer to the story.

Leonell, on the other hand, was initially created to help flesh out Marquerite's character, but somewhere along the way, he took on a life of his own. While he has a grimmer outer appearance than his sister, he is, in fact, the gentler twin. This might be hard to believe at first, as he also comes across as harsh and inapproachable. Despite this, Leonell's true nature is evident in the way he quietly protects and supports those he cares about.

The two rely on each other in different ways. Marquerite often uses Leonell as her „shield“ sending him to places she cannot access as a woman in victorian society. Meanwhile, she helps him navigate social situations where, as the neurodivergent-coded character he is, he struggles to blend in.

Without giving away too many spoilers, I'll just say this: While Leonell isn't a love interest for the main character, he's a bit of a secret storyline. Players can choose to ignore him or dig deeper into his background to uncover his secrets.

Hello there,

This is my first post on Tumblr, so I thought I’d start by introducing you to the main character of my current project, Teleny—a romance simulator inspired by the victorian novel The Reverse of the Medal.

Meet Camille des Grieux. He’s a shy young man who has spent his adult life keeping his desires hidden, completely in the closet at the beginning of the game.

I knew early on in his development that I wanted to create an outfit that reflected this aspect of his personality, not just for the intimate moments but more importantly for the everyday ones. Camille usually dresses in a rather modest outfit, complete with gloves and a scarf, and he only starts to shed these layers in situations where he feels safe and protected.

In addition to the main artwork, I’m also sharing a younger version of Camille. His character changes after his father leaves the family, and you can see that his childhood self carries a tad bit more carefree energy compared to his later years.
