Ok I think it’s safe to theorize that the rat grinders were involved in Lucy’s death, but hear me out: what if only some of them were and the others aren’t?

Buddy is probably innocent. He only joined the team after Lucy’s death, and he’s a devout Helio worshipper so I don’t think he’d be onboard with channeling a dead rage god. I doubt he knows much, if anything, about the circumstances of Lucy’s disappearance.

I want to think that Oisin and Maryanne are cool. Aloof, but cool. Maybe I’m falling for the ruse by thinking that but in terms of what we’ve seen so far, they’re both competent at their roles but not malicious. Are they just good at hiding it, or are they legitimately unaware that one of their friends may have been killed by another friend?

Ivy, Kipperlily, and Ruben are the most suspect so far. I’m not sure if Ruben’s closer to being a pawn in all this, but there’s no way he was totally unaware of the powerful bard magic he was engaging in at the Frosty Faire Festival. Ivy is openly hostile and Kipperlily is so conniving, I’m so excited for/dreading what’s happening with them moving forward.

Maybe they’re all in on it, but think of the drama and tragedy that would arise from the rift within their adventuring party if only some of them were fully aware of what happened to Lucy. If the Ratgrinders are foils to the Bad Kids, maybe they’re so dysfunctional as an adventuring party and friend group that they’re keeping secrets like that from each other.
