Day 2: Crown (12 Days of Writers Self Love)
I couldn’t decide which of two ideas I wanted to do more, so I did them both! Apologies if this got a little long. I really did enjoy writing these, this challenge is turning out wonderfully! Many thanks to @writeblrfantasy for creating it!
1. Hermitcraft Season 8, White Wings AU (main story here) 2. Hermitcraft Season 9, Third Life SMP
1. HC Season 8, White Wings AU
Tommy had seen many crowns in his lifetime.
The gem-encrusted crown of the SMP, first worn by Eret, and then George.
Ranboo’s humble diadem, studded with rough-cut rubies and emeralds mined by hand from the depths of the earth.
The golden spikes adorning the top of Sam’s Warden armor, fused to the mask he had worn more and more often.
Techno’s simple golden circlet, twin to Phil’s silver one, relics of an empire long past.
But he had never worn one of his own before now.
False measured out a length of copper wire before presenting it to Tommy with a wink. “It’s easier if you start with this.”
Gem taught him how to weave stalks of grass together, how to twist and braid the fragile stems around the wire until they formed something resilient, stronger. Something complete.
Stress regaled him with the meanings of different flowers, what made them grow the best, which ones were good for tea or scents or dyes. Under her careful eye he worked Queen Anne’s lace, lavender, daffodils, and yellow orchids into the strands of his masterpiece.
Iskall chuckled as he swept a lock of Tommy’s ivory hair away from his eyes. “Ready?” He asked, his organic eye twinkling with warmth as it darted around Tommy’s face. Tommy nodded, expression implacable, and Iskall placed the completed flower crown gracefully among his curls. The Swede examined his handiwork for a moment, tucking hair or flowers into place, before nodding in satisfaction.
Iskall picked up his own creation from the ground beside him, sporting purple asters and orange orchids, and crowned himself with a flourish. Tommy tilted his head, judging through squinted eyes. After a few seconds a small smile rose to his face, and he nodded in approval. It's good. I like it, he signed.
A small noise made them both turn to where Xisuma was seated on the soft grass, his crown of blue bellflowers and pink dahlias resting crookedly on top of his helmet. He was struggling to right it, but the mechanical axolotl gills on either side of his visor made it so that the woven headress kept slipping. “I guess I’m just not made for crowns,” he said good-naturedly when he noticed them looking, giving up the fight and leaving the flowers slightly off-kilter.
Perfect, Tommy signed to him, and the admin let out a surprised laugh. “Perfect? I suppose it does suit me. I’m a bit of derp even on the best of days.”
Tommy leaned back, and let the sun hit his face. Laughter danced in the wind as the Hermits delighted in the carefree summer day. He had never felt so far and yet so close to home.
-----
// Yes, I know these flowers wouldn’t all exist in the same climate as each other. But honestly this is Minecraft fanfiction so lower your expectations and let me have my dramatic flower symbolism :’D
// I really like that trope in fiction, I wish people did more of it. And can you tell I’m a sucker for found family? Lol
// Not me giving my headcanons for the DSMP crowns and forgetting all about the MCC champion team crowns. 💀 MCC is only sort of canon to this universe.... we can chalk it up to ww!Tommy never participating in MCC before, that’s only for the really famous competitive types like Technoblade and Grian. Yep. Definitely no plotholes here.
// Flower Meanings vvv
Tommy:
Queen Anne’s lace (safety, sanctuary, and refuge)
Lavender (purity, silence, serenity)
Daffodils (rebirth, new beginnings)
Yellow Orchids (new beginnings, friendship, joy)
Iskall:
Asters (love, wisdom, trust)
Orange Orchids (pride, enthusiasm, boldness)
Xisuma:
Bellflowers (affection, constancy, unwavering love)
Pink Dahlias (elegance, grace, kindness)
2. HC Season 9, 3rd Life SMP
Kingmaker. That’s what they called him.
Ren rolled the chess piece between his fingers, relishing the weight of the solid obsidian. It made a satisfying clack as he placed it back in its spot on the board. The black queen.
If he was the king, the ruler over the entire Hermitcraft server, then Bdubs would be his queen. He certainly wielded enough power; it was through Bdubs’ support alone that Ren won the crown. Bdubs was the one who built the Crastle for him, who was his advisor, defender, friend. His second-in-command, his right… hand….
Ren frowned, unease rising in his gut, a sudden chill burning the tips of his fingers. He curled his hands into fists on reflex. Something wasn’t right.
He rose from his throne with a growl and swept down the stairs from the royal dais, his cape billowing out behind him. His paws made no noise on the plush carpet running down the center of the throne room, keeping away the chill of solid stone.
“Sir BdoubleO? Your king summons you!” Ren called, his voice echoing through the empty stone halls. He waited a few moments, but only silence answered.
“Bdubs? Where are youuuuu….” His words bounced eerily off of the cavernous ceilings, echoing back as if mocking him. He hesitantly ventured down a hallway, turned, and was faced with an identical hallway. He followed it, but that only yielded another similar looking passageway. The next was almost exactly the same. And the next. Ren frowned. He hadn’t remembered there being quite this many corridors in his Crastle.
He followed more turns, traversed more corridors, calls going unheard and unanswered, until he realized he was well and truly lost. Ren stopped at a four-way intersection, glancing down each hall. They all felt familiar, but was that because they looked the same or because he truly recognized them?
Ren pulled his cloak tighter around himself, shivering. And when had it gotten so cold? He needed to tell Bdubs to install some sort of heating system in the castle, like magma blocks behind the walls or something. These were not livable temperatures, certainly not for a king.
Ren’s breath had begun to fog the air by the time he reached something that certainly didn’t belong: a set of arched glass doors, metalwork spiraling intricately across their frosted surface. The metal handles were bitterly cold, but they turned without protest as he pushed the double doors open.
Beyond lay a courtyard, dead branches hanging like corpses over flowerbeds full of dried leaves. A few inches of snow was dusted over everything in sight, drifting heavily in the corners and on the trees. Ren’s trepidation spiked. It was supposed to be summer on the Hermitcraft server, after all. And the Crastle didn’t have an interior garden.
He stepped out into the courtyard, bracing himself against the freezing gusts of air. His royal cape was woefully equipped to protect him from the full wrath of a winter’s wind. The harsh blasts died down into a biting breeze as he neared the center of the courtyard, snow crunching beneath his paws. Ren scarcely minded the cold as he stared wide-eyed at the centerpiece of this unnatural display.
A large stone altar rose from the ground, more of an elevated platform than anything else. Ren ascended its steps, captivated by the rough, indecipherable runes hewn deep into the surface. Lines had been cut straight across the top slab, radiating out from a shallow, bowl-like indentation at the middle. Blood channels, Ren realized with a growing horror. Blood channels that had clearly already been used.
A sudden growl had him tensing, ears lying flat and lips pulled back into a snarl. The sound seemed to emenate from every corner of the courtyard at once, circling as one would stalk prey. It was more than a threat. This was the hunting call of a predator.
Ren scanned the courtyard wildly, but there was nothing to see except a slate-gray sky bordered by gargoylic crenelations and the first few flurries of snowfall. The rumbling grew louder and louder, until the very air trembled before it. Oh, little wolf, the voice purred, smugly satisfied and impossibly deep.
“Who are you?” Ren shouted at the sky, hating the way his voice had gone high-pitched with fear.
The voice merely chuckled, the sinister whisper of a blade pulled from its sheath. Winter is coming, it intoned. And the crown weighs heavy.
Ren spun in place, breaths coming sharp and cold biting at his lungs. The voice was crushing him from all sides, pushing him down to his hands and knees on the cold, stone altar.
Do ye have what it takes to be KING, Rendog?
And Ren woke in his royal bedchambers, gasping for air and sheets soaked in sweat. His hands didn’t stop shaking for the rest of the day.
-----
// I am just now getting into the 3rd life fandom (yes, a year late) and holy cow I love the Red King so much!! Big kudos to dog at the door by fluffy_papaya and iamsolarflare for getting me hooked on Ren’s lore, it’s one of my favorite fics ever.
// For the voice, have you heard the voice of the Old God N’Zoth from the Warbringers short? Yeah, that but with a hint of Scottish accent. Very dark and powerful-sounding.
Deal? I like deals.... *eldritch laughter*
- N’Zoth the Corruptor

For your Georgebur royal au, I always had this thought of George teaching Wilbur archery flirting
MY GEORGEBUR ROYALTY AU?? I didn’t think people still knew about that or cared enough to actually send an ask,, oh my gosh, okay, okay. Gnf teaching Wilbur archery (to flirt) handshake Wilbur teaching gnf ballroom dancing (to flirt) so we’re gonna try to do both of those + an added something :D mostly cause it fits their characters but also kinda fits their roles in the story? Wilbur is the antactic prince from this long bloodline and his family is probably very regal meanwhile George is a prince, yes, but a prince of the forest. Complete different vibes
send writing prompts pspsps
“I’m no good with weapons.” Wilbur isn’t sure how their conversation had lead to this topic. It’s often that their conversations seem to follow no rhyme nor reason. One moment they could be talking about their childhood, the stars, the next; doubling over in laughter over shared experiences with prickly old nobles at balls.
George frowned as Wilbur continued, “That had always been something that was more of my brothers’ nature. We’re all trained with a sword, of course, but it never felt right in my hands the way a quill or an instrument does.” He flexed his fingers lightly, grazing the tips of his fingers.
“I think I might disagree.” George, who had been laying with his back against a mossy rock, sat up, arms flexing as he propped himself up. Rid of his outer coat, complaining of the sun rays that beat down on their skin at the clearing which they found themselves in, he sat in a simple tunic which revealed lean yet toned arms and a collarbone powdered like the cream-colored spores on top of mushrooms. Due to George’s unblemished countenance and thin figure, Wilbur had once thought him to seem more elegant than particularly strong. Not once did he think that again after watching the same man who seemed as delicate as the stars take down men twice his size with ease, laughing with his twinkling smile all the while.
“Do you fathom know me better than my old swordsmanship teacher then? Who I brought to tears the last time I tried to wield a sword and nearly cut my little brother's head right off?” George smiled. He knew of the story. Wilbur had told it to him once before, miming the way his sword clumsily soared through the air and then out of his slippery grasp–he always seemed to have loose lips the same way around George–and barrelled right at poor Tommy, bright-eyed and waiting for the day he would be allowed to wield a sword like his strong big brothers.
Needless to say, Wilbur’s lessons stopped there, and Tommy’s were delayed for some time until he could trust being around swords again. Not that it hindered his natural talent for the art in any way. Perhaps it is his confidence, and Wilbur’s lack thereof, that made the difference.
“I think that they simply gave you the wrong weapon and that your strengths lay elsewhere.” George hummed.
“Yes, dear, they lay with the words on my lips and the chords at the tip of my fingers.”
George shoved him lightly, rolling his eyes. The brown and blue hues seem to twinkle. “That too, of course. You know I mean something else.” Wilbur stayed silent, so he continued. “Have you ever tried wielding a bow?”
“I can’t say that I have.” There were some bows in the armory back at home, but Wilbur had never trained with them. Swordsmanship had been the bare minimum for their curriculum, and he didn’t even pass that. He knew that Techno and his father were adept, while Tommy, though talented, had no care for it.
“Would you like to try?”
“When done properly, wielding a bow should not just use the arms, as many might think, but the entire body. Your back and your core especially.” George’s hand trailed from Wilbur’s shoulder down his back, making him shiver.
“George,” he said at length, fingers clenching infinitesimally against the string of the bow. He can almost feel George grin behind him as he pulls his hand away to move more towards Wilbur’s side, judging his stance.
“Tight here, loose here.” George’s fingers fall naturally against where Wilbur erred, correcting him bluntly with his words yet gently with his actions. He flinches as George’s hands fall on his waist, and George merely raises an eyebrow up at him. “Keep this part forward, and your feet shoulder length apart.”
“Do your people normally teach in this manner or is it just you?”
“In what manner?”
“So… touchy.” Wilbur’s used to having things demonstrated for him, or to learn simply by doing and having his errors beat out of him, more or less. Still quite tactile and hands-on, but in a much more different way.
George hummed, stepping back to look at Wilbur’s stance once more. “Which answer would you like?”
“The honest one?”
“Deep breath. Shoot when you feel ready,” George replied instead. As Wilbur felt the crisp air enter his lungs, he thought that George would not give him a proper answer. Instead, as the arrow whizzed past his cheek, George whispered.
“Maybe it’s just because it’s me, and you.” Wilbur’s arm jerked, and the both of them watched as the arrow embedded itself just slightly left of the bullseye.
“Does that feel better than wielding a sword?” A callback to their earlier conversation.
“You did that on purpose.” Wilbur huffed. Again, with no rhyme or reason.
“Maybe so.” George walked over to pull the arrow out of the target.
“I’ve found that there’s something quite more satisfying with landing a successful shot than a successful hit. It’s a lot more technical, but in a way, there’s also something melodic about the way that your body moves almost in tandem with the bow and arrow. Like the string of a violin, or the beat of a drum.”
Or two hearts writing their own melody.
“Is that why you always seem to disappear during this time of the night?” Wilbur mused, reminiscing the first time they met. It had been a starry night just like this one, and they are atop the gazebo from back then too, which has now become something of a special place for them both to get away to.
George shrugged one shoulder, but his smile said it all. It’s awkward in the way it always is when there’s something George doesn’t want to admit but has left out in the open for people to assume anyway. “Just like you never saw a reason to learn to fight-”
“I tried, still,” Wilbur interjected, though he is right. There has been enough bloodshed in the Antarctic Empire’s past to ensure that at least the dynasty of Wilbur and his brothers’ generation will pass mostly peacefully, and if they play their cards right it will hopefully stay the same for the next generation, too.
“Yes, of course. Just as you tried, and failed, so did I when it comes to dancing.”
“But you seem so graceful.” Graceful. Elegant. A number of other synonyms for the words flash in Wilbur’s mind.
“Graceful in battle, that I’m sure of. But when it comes to dancing I literally seem to have two left feet. Trust me, countless have tried to fix my wrongs. I’d say the one who’s gotten close to making me seem at least somewhat presentable while dancing was Dream, but–”
“What about me?” Out of nowhere, Wilbur blurted out. He regretted the words as soon as they left his mouth, George’s dual-colored irises shining curiously, but he couldn’t help the words from escaping when George mentioned the countless others who have attempted to dance with him that made Wilbur realize that they have never shared such a moment.
“What about you? You want to teach me how to dance?” Despite asking it as though it were a question, George was already beginning to slide off the roof, the answer known but unspoken between them. He landed gracefully, as always, and held up his hand to help Wilbur down. Not that he needed any assistance, but he took it anyway, if not just to pull George close to him once both his feet are planted firmly on the ground, their shoes squeaking on the marble floor as he brings them to the center of the gazebo.
George stumbled a little, and Wilbur couldn’t help but laugh. “I’ll step on you, on purpose,” he threatened.
“Shh,” if they were quiet enough, they could almost barely hear the music playing all the way from the ballroom. It’s even fainter in Wilbur’s ears, drowned out by his heart beating louder as George tilted his head up towards him. Their lips came together for just a moment, Wilbur allowing himself the reprieve of smiling against soft chapped lips before he moved them into the proper positions.
“You know the steps?” A nod, bashful. From the kiss, maybe, or the prospect of what’s to come. George had never liked making mistakes in front of Wilbur, though he loves him even more both despite them and because of them.
“Try leading me, then.”
“What?” George snapped, but Wilbur just smiled, ever so patient. He moved George’s hands and waited for him to move. He did, a few moments later, hesitantly.
“Don’t think about it too much,” Wilbur advised, his voice a murmur as to not break the moment. He didn’t seem too successful as George’s mouth still twisted in displeasure as he took the next step and the next.
“Easy for you to say. How many ladies, is it, that you’ve danced with just like this during balls?”
“Jealous?” George rolled his eyes, turning them. Wilbur fought back a smile.
“Like you weren’t jealous at the prospect of me dancing with someone else, either.” Wilbur couldn’t even find it in him to get mock-angry as they stumbled a little on their next turn, George’s face flushing with the mistake before they right themselves and continue on.
“I’d neither confirm nor deny that statement. Only if you tell me if I’m doing a better job at teaching you than all the rest of them so far.”
“Careful, or your feet mind end up worse than theirs.”
“I’ve never let someone else take the lead, if that makes you feel better.” George’s hand twitches where it’s situated on the small of Wilbur’s back.
“It doesn’t.” It does.
“I hope perhaps you’ll still allow me the pleasure of being the only gentleman you’ve danced with whom you didn’t ruin the shoes of.” George ducked his head but brought it back up upon the insistence of Wilbur’s knuckle underneath his chin. They smiled at each other, fond.
“We’ll have to see.”
On some other night, Wilbur’s knuckle would find itself brushing high against George’s cheekbone as his eyes flutter, both tired and bright at the same time.
“I’ve never seen eyes quite like yours.” Wilbur would murmur, into the space between their lips. Into the space between their souls. Ice blue eyes against brown and blue. George would only hum in response, and in an infinitesimally small gesture, lean closer into Wilbur’s touch.
He knows the other must have heard the phrase more than enough, but Wilbur could write poems about his eyes’ hues. Already has, in his mind, more than enough times. Not just the mismatched color, both the earth and the sky at the same time, but the depth, the expression. It’s like a renaissance painting that transports you to that time period, except its two portals that transport you to a world where everything just seems right, with no preamble. Somehow, Wilbur finds that he’s already living in it.

How many of you know what Dress Up Niki is? Because I’m making a Dress Up Niki AU.
Tubbo:
A simple boy from Lilith, as far as the group is concerned.
Prefers Warm and Pure styles. Typically with some sort of nature or animal theme.
His default outfit is a pale yellow sweater with three thick brown stripes, and scrunched sleeves, over a soft green button-up shirt that's collar pokes out, brown shorts with green thread and a single bee embroidered onto each side, pale green socks, brown sneakers with green accents, a braided yellow/green bracelet with a bee charm, and a yellow and brown bee-themed backpack that he carries his stuff in.
There's a strange bee plushie that he only uses in emergencies, style wise. It's very soft, and smallish. It's wings are gossamer, and it's eyes are amber. Sometimes, it seems to move on it's own, though nobody's been able to prove it. Seems to have very potent Pure and Cute attributes.
Skills are Smile, Charming, Picky Immune, and Cinderella.
Tommy:
An orphan from Apple Federal who ran away and now is traveling the world.
Prefers Simple and Lively styles. Usually something sporty, and easy to move in.
Default outfit is a white long sleeve, a red short-sleeved hoodie, light brown cargo pants, red and white sneakers, white socks, brown fingerless gloves, and a brown satchel that holds his stuff.
One-third dark elf-one third forest elf, and otherwise human. Due to this, he can see easily in the dark, has more energy at night, overall has high magic stores, and is really good with animals.
Feels a strange draw to Phil, though he can't pinpoint why.
Skills are Picky Immune, Gift, Clock, and Charming.
Wilbur:
Hails from the Republic of Wasteland, Windvale Tribe. Having always longed to study the styles of other nations, he finally left to do so after an argument with his brother, Fundy.
Prefers Simple and Gorgeous styles. Usually something with an 'old-fashioned' flair.
Default outfit is a pin-striped button up shirt, with rolled up sleeves, brown trouser, suspenders, white socks, a pair of laced boots, an brown, yellow, and blue arm-band peeking out from under his shirt, and a golden bangle bracelet on his wrist. Carries a briefcase bag to hold his stuff.
Very good with music, and has an easier time directing magic through it.
Always has his guitar on hand. It has very potent Lively and Gorgeous attributes.
Skills are Smile, Charming, Critical Eye, and Picky Immune.
Phil:
Comes from Cloud originally, but moved to the North Kingdom as a teen. Nowadays, he travels the world with Techno.
Prefers Elegant and Simple styles. His clothes will be influenced by the area, as he is a survivalist at heart.
Default outfit is dark green kimono top, with a red heart stitched into the breast, over a simple black shirt, black pants, sandals, a striped white and green hat, and a leather pouch around his waist that holds his items.
Part forest elf, and as such, has a pair of large bird wings on his back, which he uses to fly quite often.
Skills are Smile, Charming, Picky Bounce, and Sleeping.
Technoblade:
Former general from the north, he went rogue and became a mercenary at seventeen.
Prefers Mature and Elegant styles. Regal, but not enough to hinder him in battle.
Default outfit is a white poet’s shirt, dark red sash around his waist, black pants, knee-high Cavalier boots, a dark red hooded cloak that reaches his knees, numerous golden accessories, a leather pouch attached to his thigh to hold his stuff, as well as a dagger beneath it, and a sword sheath at his hip.
Immune to the Curse of Blood, for reasons unknown-possible descendant of Nikki.
Skills are Charming, Critical Eye, Cinderella, and Gift Bounce.
Plot:
Prince Tobias is the third prince of Pigeon, after Prince Dream, and Prince Eret. As the eldest, Dream has taken the throne in wake of their mother's passing.
Shortly before her death, the Queen gave her children each a special gift to aid them in the times to come.
Dream was granted a special mask, made of porcelain, and baring a simple smiley-face on it's surface. The mask is enchanted, hiding the wearer's emotions and weaknesses from everyone around them. Perfect for diplomacy.
Eret was given a coat, of deep red and golden thread. It granted it's wearer confidence, drawing attention to them, and giving them the strength of leadership. Perfect for leading.
And Tobias was given a bee plushie, warm and soft, that gave it's holder hope, and reminded them of memories of joy and childhood. Perfect for a boy who'd have to be a hero.
When Dream took the throne, he started changing. Acting colder, and more power hungry. Uncaring for his people. His siblings soon realized that the mask had become corrupted, not merely hiding emotions and weaknesses, but making them vanish all together, turning their brother into an unfeeling tyrant.
After failing to get the mask off of him, Tobias fled the kingdom, desperate to find the mask's maker, or anything to tell him how to fix it and save his brother. Eret remained, determined to help the kingdom as much as they could, and do damage control. Though reluctant to allow her little brother out alone, he realized it would be safer out there than in the kingdom at the moment, and helped him flee.
Very few had seen Tobias’s face, due to the late queen's insistence upon not dragging her children into kingdom affairs until they were of age, so it wasn't too hard for him to vanish. Eret sent a family friend his way, Jordan Sparklez, who helped him into Lilith, and established a cover story.
Tubbo Sparklez, a Lilith student returning home after traveling abroad to learn more about himself, just as his father had.
He soon meets Tommy Innit, a runaway from Apple Federal.
Tommy had always been an easy target for the other kids. He was always a bit too loud for the caretakers, and annoying to the other children. Not to mention his strange habits. Needless to say, Tommy often found himself being blamed for things he didn't do, and punished for them. At fourteen, he was fed up with it.
So he ran. Packed his few things and bolted. Eventually found himself in Lilith, where he quite literally crashed into Tubbo, and despite the rough start, the two became quick friends.
Though Tommy still planned to travel, he decided to relax for a bit, and hang out with his new friend. Those plans were thrown astray when Pigeon attacked the town, and the two fled together.
The terrifying experience led to them agreeing to stick together and protect each other. Tubbo confesses he was searching for something, because his brother was in trouble, and Tommy decided to help him out. After some deliberation, they decided to head to Cloud, hoping to find some clues there.
From there, they meet Wilbur Soot, and eventually, Philza and Techno. The three end up sticking with them, all soon wrapped up in a complicated adventure as Tubbo searches for a way to save his brother, and the rest of the group find themselves facing things about themselves they never knew, and learning where they belong in this vast world.

If Twisted Wonderland gets character songs
I saw talk about how nice it'd be if each character eventually gets a solo that represents themself as a person and I ended up making a thread on it, so I thought I'd put it here as well! All the characters are under the cut since it's gonna get long haha
Heartslabyul
Riddle: Using a music box-like tune to feel almost dreamlike? (because Alice in Wonderland) I definitely want it to showcase his character growth, like how he was able to break out of his isolation and rigidness, which could be expressed through a simple music box melody swelling into something more powerful as the song progresses
Ace: Either something like playful, old-timey Broadway show tunes (a reference to his magic tricks haha) or straight up penis music <3 Ace is youthful yet rational, considerate yet has a mean streak to him as well... I think something that could portray all of these sides of him would be nice
Deuce: I want the song to show how earnest and awkward? he is... Please listen to Seiten no Sinker from A3! I feel like the melody of it fits Deuce so well, though I wouldn't mind a more chaotic song either that captures the emotions Deuce might feel as he gets caught up in the whirlwind of school life! Basically, I want a song that shows our boy is really doing his best!!! A song that makes you think, "I'm rooting for you!"
Trey: He's so straightforward it feels hard to pin him down tbh.... But I think it'd be fun if it was a song about him baking or something,, down to earth in the Trey way :] Lyrics that walk you through how to make the perfect cake, maybe with a verse like "and of course, oyster sauce to taste-- I'm only joking though"
Cater: I either want an upbeat song like Summer Time Love (also A3. listen to A3 music.) or something that shows us the sides of Cater he doesn't reveal often, like a song that covers the way Cater feels about his persona that juxtaposes with his true self. We've seen in stories how he's not actually the super bright and peppy persona he puts out and I wanna see more of that
Savanaclaw
Leona: A song that shows his inner struggles and maybe about why he chooses to be lazy instead of facing his problems head on? It would also be good to show his more ambitious side buried under all of the apathy. I'm thinking of a song with the mood of Just For Myself (also from A3, it's gonna show up a lot more from here on out as well)
Ruggie: A lighthearted song about the plights of Ruggie's life as he does errands for Leona wouldn't be half bad I think, haha. I'd want the song to almost feel like you're running alongside him as he moves through his day!
Jack: You all probably saw this coming but a song like Loner (Juza A3) would fit him so well! Jack is incredibly strong but he never uses that strength for bad purposes. It's also endearing how he's honest, almost to a fault. I think a song that can capture that would be good
Octavinelle
Azul: JAZZ. If it's not jazz I'll be a little disappointed I am not going to lie <3 I want a swinging 1920's vibe song with a flashy blare of brass that feels like you're being ushered into the Mostro Lounge VIP room! Also wouldn't it be neat if the music is super bright but the lyrics are a little concerning? Agreed? Agreed.
Jade: Something that portrays his perfect butler attitude, with a sudden flash of his twisted side that disappears as quickly as it comes. Either that OR a song dedicated to his love for mushrooms, the obvious superior option lmaoooo
Floyd: Penis music. I want the song to swing back and forth between a beautifully constructed melody to what can be called nothing more than glorified piano keysmashes with jumbled and dissonant sounds, much like Floyd's own temperament.
Scarabia
Kalim: LOUD!! BRIGHT!!!! A feeling like you're in the middle of a parade on a brilliantly blue summer day. A song that makes you want to smile and dance would be wonderful I think, it's what Kalim would want!! :]
Jamil: His song would probably feel like someone's standing behind you, almost like a snake slithering. Liberal use of a zither, and soft drumbeats to emulate the soft fall of footsteps. I want Jamil's solo to give you the feeling of anxiety that listening to Saturn from Holst's The Planets suite does
Pomefiore
Vil: An elegant and regal song that combines classic instruments and melodies. It'd be so nice if they incorporated a harp into the music somehow, and maybe choir vocals as well! Maybe also a shift from a major to a minor key within the song to signify the motif of poisonous beauty? Anything for you queen💓💓
Epel: Probably the song with the simplest melody out of the Pomefiore members!! Maybe it would be about carving apples! Epel explaining how to peel the skin and cut the fruit to create beautiful shapes :] It's either this or Epel's hot hit single "Let Me Join Savanaclaw"
Rook: A song about either his devotion to beauty, to hunting, or both! An ample use of French phrases in the lyrics, and it kind of sounds like you're being chased
Ignihyde
Idia: Definitely techno of some kind, maybe incorporating a synthesizer or 8bit? I want it to be about him gaming just like Gamer's High (also from A3, thought you escaped didn't you) where tons of gamer lingo is used!
Ortho: Also a techno type melody but like, cute? Listen to Synchronism from Utapri you'll know what I mean (Ai and Ortho even have the same seiyuu ahhaha) Maybe a song about how he wants the best for Idia ☺️💞
Diasomnia
Malleus: He's skillful at playing stringed instruments so they should make the most of it by incorporating them into the music! (This is another way to say I really like violin and cello) Tbh throw a pipe organ in there too let's go that extra mile <3 It'd be cool if the melody had baroque vibes almost?
Lilia: DEATH METAL. SCREAMO. If your eardrums don't bleed a little bit what's the point baybee!! I want a recreation of whatever he sang during club orientation day come on disney don't be shy
Silver: A bit like Traumerie to Kuuhaku (this is my periodic message to listen to the A3 discography) where it feels like you're between a state of sleep and conscious? A song that's like a lullaby would be fitting for Silver :]
Sebek: Like the equivalent of a trumpet blasting in your ear; if Silver's puts you to sleep this one will jolt you back awake. Something that requires a super strict tempo, like a march, would be fitting for him! The entire song would be about Malleus-sama of course <3
Congrats to everyone who made it to the end of this proud of y'all mwah mwah

Weekend Briefs - 17 July 2020
Hey Everyone!
I can imagine the relief and happiness when a lot of my colleagues type “ Weekend is Here” followed by emoticons of dancing men and women on our WhatsApp conversations. I experience the same joy when I write a new edition of the Weekend Briefs, and the weekend only begins when the publish button is clicked.
Anyways, the week as usual has been filled with unexpected surprises and the bare mention of paper sizes below A4 can tip off my colleagues. Amidst all the chaos & confusion , novelty filled playlists, light yet touching words of encouragement, the afternoon rains , and good food has helped me muddle through the weekend. Without much adieu, lets move onto our reading lists for the weekend...

King without a Kingdom in a new republic
I have been reading a near personal and heroic narrative of V P Menon , the sidekick to the great Sardar Vallabhai Patel, who was a tough negotiator and got all the princely states to agree to accede to India. However, many of these princely kingdoms were annexed by the British and plundered to be mere sources of income for the British Raj and the departure of the British could have signaled a reign of autonomous rule for these kingdoms but those plans were foiled by the Patel-Menon duo resulting in an India we see today. Interestingly, one such kingdom was the Kingdom of Oudh in Lucknow, which was annexed by the British but had much regal splendor and fame in the United Provinces back in the day. Now, imagine a royal descendant turns up at gates of the Government of India and announces all the royalties and titles taken away from them to be restored to them. NYT’s Ellen Barry captures an interesting tale of an eccentric family of desposed royals who lived in near isolation and obscurity in Delhi’s Malcha Mahal. The family still believed they were royals in every sense of the term and how equally tragic their life was. Read this extremely engaging and informative piece about a family and a king without a kingdom. To be honest, this was one of the finest pieces I have read in recent times. You can read this here.

WE CONQUERED THE MECCA OF CRICKET!
For the Indian cricket fan, nostalgia of a bygone era involves some fine moments in the history of the game. Sharjah 1999, Eden Gardens 2001, Lords 2003, Multan 2004 and many more. Here was a new team with a nice mix of young and experienced, under the agile captaincy of Sourav Ganguly, shrugging off the blemishes of a match fixing and corruption scandal and playing directly to the hearts and minds of a billion people. All of the above mentioned moments are uniquely special but if there is an image to show India had truly arrived at the cricket scene, it is the image of a defiant Ganguly swirling his jersey on the balcony of the Lord’s Cricket stadium. 18 years have passed since that memorable evening at Lords, and Indian cricket has changed way beyond recognition. Indian Express takes a walk down the memory lane with Mohammed Kaif, who was the unsung hero of the run chase. You can read his interview and listen to him recollect those fond memories here.
P.S If you wish to revisit the Lord’s victory ( what ECB even calls as ‘One of the Greatest ODI Matches ever’ ) you can watch it here.

In a world for/of men, the woman stands out !
The world is now opening up to the revelation, how the world is designed by and for to be used by men. Look around at every single utility ever designed. The dimensions of a cell phone are designed so it fits into the palm of a man, desks are made believing the end user is always a man. In several silent ways, these daily inequities play out against women even though proven research says women do much more unpaid work than men and have to muddle through to a career while rearing children, making a home and many other chores. This week NYT’s Program launches a unique column titled, “ In Her Words ; 7 Days, 7 Issues “ highlighting the many inequities women face in 7 beautifully illustrated and concisely written articles. What struck the most with me was the following few lines from the first issue written by Emma Goldberg.
“Researchers at Boston University and Microsoft found that a software program trained on text from Google News was also more likely to link women with domestic activities. When asked to complete the statement “Man is to computer programmer as woman is to X,” the program responded: “homemaker.”
You can read the entire series here.
Enough of the readings... Tell us something to watch
Taking a cue from the above, imagine if a movie spoke to you about gender abuse, fused it with a few supernatural occurring and set in the pre-independece era India. Bulbbul ( Streaming currently on Netflix ) does this concoction of themes quite poignantly. Directed by Anvita Dutt Guptan, produced by Anushka Sharma, Bulbbul boasts of an ensemble cast of Tripti Dimri, Rahul Bose, Paoli Dam who give riveting performance to make this an engaging watch. With just over 95 minutes and soaked in a visual palette of crimson, Bulbbul is a quick and promising watch. Several scenes are beautifully composed and the soundscape of the movie captures the elegant yet scary forests where the movie is set in. Watch it for the brilliant performances of Rahul Bose and Tripti Damri.

This 6-minute mini, is enjoyable, effable and an elaborate Apple product placement video. The bottom diagram shows how the height of the the outrigger changes the angle of the line game fishing knot as it hits the water. The height of the rod and outrigger tips on larger boats achieves a much higher angle of entry. This will compensate for any sag or belly in the line. Unfortunately, lures run off of smaller boats have more leader dragging in front of the lure. You can still troll lures from a small boat with no outriggers. You just need to select the right lures, and position them correctly to compensate for the propwash. The basic spread shown in the diagram is a good starting point. If you fish from a smaller boat, you may want to opt for longer riggers, or try mounting them on a T-top or further up on the side of the boat to achieve a better angle of entry. In this video, Peter Pakula demonstrates how to prepare your lures for trolling and the best way to set out a spread of lures for big-game fish.
