My tech director named me stage manager like 10 minutes before the first rehearsal. He was then mad at me for not knowing the play.

*screams in sleep deprivation*
Ok fellas this is my first ever edit (so pls don't judge how choppy it is 😭) but these lesbians have had a vice grip on my brain since the season ended and this song is sooo good for them (maybe one day i'll do a full version- maybe i won't. who's to say.) Song is Dancing After Death (Stripped) by Matt Maeson and all clips/art belong to Dimension 20! Pls enjoy

music-related injuries I would have deemed unlikely to occur if I had not sustained them anyway, in order of increasing obscurity:
✅ stabbed by a mandolin string on more than one occasion
✅ stood up directly into a suspended cymbal
✅ run over by a sousaphone
✅ hit in the head with a theorbo

hey exposure and accessibility to theatre is incredibly important btw. theatre teaches people so much about empathy and compassion for others btw. professional theatre sure but also children’s theatre, high school theatre, community theatre, all of it deserves attention and love btw. theatre is a very powerful force for humanity btw. just! by! the! way!!!!!!

watching the cast do mic checks and they all have amazing voices, I love seeing rehearsals like this but also my voice does not sound good and it makes me sad
I love theatre, but I'm a horrible dancer, I can't act, and my voice is shit :(

Francine Boyle as bearing witness
(hi! I’m writing this for TOTA takeover. There will be some minor spoilers for the show, but I’ve done my best to keep them vague)
A really neat thing that I love about Francine Boyle’s character is that she’s *incredibly* observant. She functions as a witness to events in many episodes (you can see this multiple times when she watches everyone dancing in the hall outside the radio station), and I think that that’s part of the reason that everyone else trusts her, even if she hasn’t talked to them that much. She *knows* how people and things work—what makes them tick, so to speak—to an extent that I don’t think any other character does. She’s the first person we see who acknowledges Eddie’s alcoholism, but she doesn’t push him to recognize it before he’s ready. While we don’t see much of her friendship with Fergus (though I sorely wish we had seen more), she seems to understand him and his situation the most, even more than Campbell who’s his roommate.
There’s also her fondness of McTavish and later her kittens—first off, as far as the audience knows, she’s really the only person at St. Jude’s who’s noticed McTavish, and she also notices when she and her kittens are in danger. Even before then, though, Francine’s awareness is part of the reason that her insistence that McTavish *isn’t* pregnant is so unsettling to both Eddie and the audience; it isn’t something fits in with what we’ve seen of her.
This also works really well with the themes of the show, where Francine’s perception of the world is often *more* clear than the “sane” characters’, and ignoring that in-universe would often be disastrous, as demonstrated with McTavish.
It also connects with Francine’s arc, which is centered around her *finally* being genuinely seen, and allowing herself to be that vulnerable. I think that all the instances of her bearing witness is part of the reason that her ending feels like such a triumph—she’s finally being shown the kindness that she has given to those around her.

as someone who had a rejection sensitivity panic attack because of a shitty theatre teacher in high school that was so bad that my mom sent me to a psychiatrist, I would like to thank Chappell Roan for dedicating "my kink is karma" to the theatre teacher who kicked her out of drama club in highschool at acl tonight 💖

So when the amdram group did Peter Pan last year, Peter and Tink did a big dramatic duet of I Know Him So Well when Tink gets banished...
And we, as the Lost Boys, were sat on the stage off to one side for this, conveniently just on the edge of the dramatic spotlights.
So, having picked up every single word of the song from hearing it in rehearsals so often, we decided to melodramatically lipsync it, just for the benefit of anybody who happened to glance over at us.
I don't think anyone in the audience ever noticed, but it was way more fun than what we were directed to do, which was just to sit there looking pensive/sad about Tink being banished.
