Ego in his sugar daddy era???
Tumblr media
“How’re you, Ego-San? I hope that you’ve been eating well for the past two weeks since I wasn’t here to cook for you.” You grinned kindly at your boss, entering the high tech office. Placing your handbag on the table, Ego doesn’t look at you and continues to immerse himself in important data.
“What’re you my mother? I don’t need you to look after me.”
“If I don’t look after you, who’ll make Japan win the World Cup?” You sassed. Approaching the table the looked at the holographic data floating mid air. You still wonder to yourself how much money went into this and how high tech this all was.
“Anri-San told me over the phone that I should come back a few days earlier than the players, when I tell you that those boys-”
“Ah, ah.” He raises his hand over to your mouth, stopping you from saying anything and you huffed, sitting on the tables edge. “Alright, tell me-” A holographic screen slides to your direction, revealing the information before you.
“The third phase of this match is called the Neo Egoist League. Where players pick a team that matches their skills. This phase will introduce a variety of investments, including high salaries, various offers from different teams all over Europe to play in their leagues, and so many more,” you click on the icon, Germany and saw the familiar face of the one who beat Messi in a match from three years ago.
“Noel Noa…?”
“Oh, yeah. The teams the players will choose are England, Germany, Italy, France, and Spain. Each European team is an S-class team led by the most exceptional strikers…I think you already know them.” Cue for the familiar faces of famous football players to come into the screen. Chris Prince, Lavinho, Noel Noa, Marc Snuffy, and the familiar face of Julian Loki.
“After the players pick their respective teams, they will be separated into different stratums or buildings. Anri-Chan will be sending you the rest of the details. Don’t embarrass yourself when you’re up close with them.” He says, giving you a side eye as you stare at a picture of Snuffy. You immediately snapped back to your senses and swiped away the image of the Italian footballer.
“I-I won’t! What makes you say that?!” He huffs and pushes you off the table.
“Unpack your things and help the other staff with room preparations. You will be preparing for five teams with twenty plus players. Go away.” You huffed at him and fixed your clothes. “Can’t you be more gentle?! Geez!”
“What’s this?” You looked at the white box, wrapped with a black bow that Anri handed to you, she looks very excited you took notice. She beams at you as you placed it on the dining table.
“Open it! Ego-San got it for us.”
“That Vector look-a-like got us something? Are you sure he’s alright? Should I call a doctor?” You worried turned to the older woman. Cue for Ego to smack you on the back of you of your head with a file.
“Ow!”
“Be grateful, you waste of talent. I’m pretty sure you don’t have anything decent to wear.” He hissed, pointing at your working clothes and you gasped dramatically.
“These are my working clothes, asshat! I can’t run around working in a mini skirt.”
“Oh, come on, Ego-San. (Name)-Chan just got back and you’re already picking a fight with her!” Anri scolds the two of you, pulling both her boss and colleague apart before they tear each other apart. “Just open the gift and tell me if it fits. Don’t approach me if it isn’t your style.” Ego spoke, going into the kitchen to prepare himself yet another instant ramen packet.
“If it fits?” You thought a bit confused. Did he buy you clothes? Or maybe it’s a new staff uniform, either way, you pulled on the strands of the ribbon, making it come undone. You then lifted the cover and saw some white paper covering, Anri was squealing excited next to you. Moving away some of the wrapping, you soon realized that Ego had bought you a designer dress.
You took out the dress from the box and looked at it with eyes peeled open. Ego, your harsh boss, had bought you a dress that was totally your style and in your favorite color? Is the world ending?
“Omg, Ego-San, it looks beautiful on her, definitely (name)’s style!” Anri gushed at the man who didn’t respond. As you continued to admire the dress and its intricate appearance, Ego cleared his throat.
“Do the two of you have any jewelry?”
“I only brought a few earrings with me, nothing special.”
“The ones that I’m wearing, I don’t change into anything different unless it’s a special occasion.” You and Anri answered. You wondered why Ego bought you an expensive dress and asking you about jewelry, all he ever talked about was football not fashion.
“Ego-San, what’s with the dress? I don’t think I can wear this to anywhere and this must’ve been expensive!”
“Is that really what you have to say…?” You shut up and looked at Ego and his unusual behavior. He sounded a bit disappointed as he slurped on his noodles. You grinned at the realization and brought the dress to your chest.
“Thank you, Ego-San, truly.” You could’ve sworn you saw a smile on his face. “Are you smiling, Ego-San-?”
“Being delusional has its fucking limits, kid.”
“I may be delulu but my eyes aren’t lying, c’mon admit it, boss!” You continue to tease as he continues to deny your claims. Anri smiles at this interaction. For once you weren’t spouting insults at each other or trying to kill each other.
“Shut the fuck up and take this.” Ego had enough and tossed you and Anri small bags of yet again designer, products. You then looked at Ego and then at Anri. “In all seriousness, why’re you gifting us these and where did you get the money of all of this? Last I remembered, we ran out of funds cause of the second selection.”
“After winning the match, sponsors came flooding in to support the project. Hence the brands and how we’re able to afford those teams to collaborate with us.” Anri explains. Looking at the Selim Mouzannar box in her hands with bulging eyes. You had a similar reaction as her as you look at the Azlee brand necklace on your hands.
“You didn’t really have to buy us so much…”
“I wonder how much of this costs…”
“I only bought you both heels. The dresses, jewelry and makeup were gifts from the coaches.”
“…are they looking for a sugar baby?” Anri and Ego smacked you on the back of the head.
“You look so beautiful, (name)-Chan!!”
“Have you seen yourself, Anri-San? You look like you’re going to the met gala!” The red-haired woman blushes as your compliment. She wore a red satin floor length dress with off shoulders. You looked at yourself in the mirror and saw a different person. You looked even more beautiful with the makeup on with lips were colored in lipstick. Your dress hugged every curve of your body and the jewelry made you look mature and expensive.
All in all, you look like you were going to a ball. Like a Princess.
“You look like you’re going to throw up.”
“I… I’m scared I’m gonna ruin this dress, like, what if I accidentally spill food or drinks on me?!” You continued on with your nervous rant about possibly ruining the dress, she sighs and grabs you the shoulders, pushing her face closer to yours. “(Name)-Chan, nothing is going to happen to you or the dress! They gave you this dress and it’s your choice what to do with it.”
She reasons and you nodded tentatively. She smiles and picked up her handbag, so did you.
“I’m amazed Ego-San wanted to host a welcome party of the teams.”
“I was actually the JFU who arranged this occasion.” You looked at Anri as if she grew a second head and laughed uncertainly. “Ahaha… really?”
“Really.”
“Like… really, really?” She nods and you scoffed. “Now that he lost our little bet, he’s sucking up to us? Serves him right for doubting us.”
“Oh, you should’ve seen how Ego-San reacted when the president told him about hosting a welcome party!” Hand in arm, the two women were immersed in their conversation as they walked down the dystopian-core hallways of blue lock and exited the premises where a wagoneer jeep waited in the entrance.
“I think Ego-San is indulging himself a little bit too much.”
“That car was sent by the JFU, dumbass.” Ego sighs as he walked out from the glass doors, clad in a navy blue suit with a bolo football tie. He didn’t look all that much to different from his usual getup. The suit was reminiscent of the one he wore in the U-20 match.
You immediately noticed at the bolo tie was a little loose and went in front of him, taking a hold of the tie. Ego seemed surprised at the sudden closeness and pulled away.
“What the hell?”
“Stand still, your tie looks sloppy…” You murmured, tightening it. Ego sighs and lifts his head a little to give you space, Anri smiles in amusement at this rare moment between the two of you. Like a daughter fixing her fathers tie before he goes off to work. It was adorable in her opinion.
You pulled away and looked pleased with Ego’s appearance with a smile. “Let’s go?”
“Let’s.”
You looked at awe at the building where the welcome party was taking place. You initially thought it was going to be at blue lock but apparently JFU didn’t deem your building fancy enough and held the welcome party at a five star hotel. As you wrapped your arm around Anri’s forearm, you peered through the city of Tokyo from the glass window of the elevator. It looked like a sparkling jewelry box from up there. The doors open and Anri pulls you along with her.
Anxiety emptied your stomach as your hands grew sweaty around Anri’s plushy arm. The older woman looks at you with a gentle smile that made your worries go away. You then looked Ego who had his hands on the large doors in front of you three, he looks at the two of you and you nodded confidently.
Ego pushes the doors open and you were welcomed by a flood of overlapping chatter, elegant women dressed in designer clothing and men stood tall and erect in their identical-looking suits. The hall looked massive with a balcony on the right side of the room.
Everyone stopped with what they were doing and bore their eyes into the three of you. Now you felt like you were going to throw up if they continue to stare at you any longer.
“If it isn’t the mastermind behind this amazing project!” You heard a boisterous voice boom your ears. You looked up and saw the fat rodent that is the president of the JFU waddling his way towards your direction. The feeling of nausea was replaced with disgruntled feeling as you held on Anri’s arm a little tighter.
“Chairmen, thank you for arranging this welcome party for the teams.” Ego thanked the bloated tanuki. He was uncharacteristically polite. Your brows furrowed deeper and the corners of your mouth tilts down as he glanced at you and Anri, he gulps and looks back the bull-cut-haired man.
“I-it’s the least we can do. Because with blue lock, I know we can win the World Cup with your guidance!” He spoke and the others in the room erupted in praises and applause.
“We’ll be doing our best to do so. Thank you for financially supporting our project.” Anri replied with a light bow and so did you, “I’ll be supporting the players as best as I can since I’m the manager and all of that.”
The chairmen then usher the three of you to the rest of the JFU members for some reason. You didn’t talk all that much and looked around the banquet hall, “tell me, (name)-Chan. How the players generally act?”
“Generally act?”
“What’s their behavior towards the other players? I’m quite curious.” One of the members asked. You tried to think of an answer without revealing the fact that everyone is at each other's throats, “well, they remain respectful to each other, off and on the field,” that was a bit of a lie considering Isagi calling Baro a donkey mid-game.
“They work hard and dedicate themselves, body and soul to the sport. They accept defeats to grow better not only as a player but as a person.” You replied truthfully this time, fiddling with the fabric of the dress. They took your word for it and seemed intrigued by your answers with nods and hums.
“And how do they act towards you? Since you’re one of the many female managers after all.” They smirked with suggestion. You sucked in the corner of your bottom lip to avoid snapping at him. What was even going through their sick heads? Do they want this project to end with just one sexual speculation?
“Respect… we maintain a distance that is manager and player. We don’t have a rather close and intimate relationship with each other.” That was a bit of a lie. The players acted relatively close to you but still maintained a respectable presence with you.
Aryu runs his hands in your hair while complimenting your makeup and outfit. Chigiri would ask you to play with his hair. You were terrible at it, but he didn’t mind. Otoya would constantly flirt and ask for your number. Karasu and Yukimiya would save you from him. Baro, Kunigami, and all the other boys would try to pitch in to help you. Bachira would always hug you whenever you entered the room. Nagi trails behind you like a lost puppy, along with Reo, who would talk your ear off about the stock market and ask you to go out on a date with him once he’s out of blue lock.
And so many more, the boys acted like you were friends at school which made you feel comfortable with your stay and you really appreciated the boys and their behavior towards you.
“Is that so? Nothing-?”
“Hey, shithead. Do you think it’s a good idea to ask a girl who's 18 if she’s having intimate relations with a bunch of guys who are 18 and below? That’s fucking disgusting.” Ego spat in a whisper to the man as he pulled you by the wrist and hid you behind him. Your eyes widen as well as the JFU member, and he stammers out an apology that Ego didn’t take so kindly.
You looked up at Ego as he glared in disgust at the man. With your heart beating against your chest as if it wanted to break free, sweat pooling into the palm of your heads, you pulled on Ego’s cuffs, and he turned his attention towards you.
“Ego-San, let’s not cause a scene…” you whispered lowly, gesturing to your side. Spectators were turning their heads at the three of you, who were drawn to what you were discussing. Ego looks at you, then back at the man. There was an unreadable expression on his face before he clicked his tongue and gestured for you to follow him.
“Don’t show your putrid face to me or my staff.” He hissed before walking away from the man with eyes following your every move like owls, but one look from Ego, and they returned to their conversations.
“Ego-San… thank you for doing that. I greatly appreciate it.” You spoke, pulling on the mans wrist. He stops and looks at you before flicking your forehead. “The hell?!”
“Be more careful next time when you encounter nosey pigs like him-”
“So you do have a heart in there, Jinpachi Ego.” You heard a voice state amused from behind. You couldn’t understand what he was saying. It sounded like German. You whirled around and saw the mystery man.
It was Noel Noa. Clad in a suit and bow tie. He had a stoic and serious expression with an ever-present frown on his lips, gold eyes dull into Ego’s obsidian pair of eyes before he shifted his focus to you and then back to him. When both your eyes met, you felt your heart rate go faster than ever before.
It was the Noel Noa. In the flesh! The greatest striker in the world, standing in front of you!!
You have seen this man in your television or phone but seeing him in the flesh was whole new experience.
‘Omg, omg, omg, omg, omg, omg-’
“What’s that supposed to mean, you stoic robot?” Ego hissed in German. You looked back and forth between the two. They seemed to know each other, you observed as they casually conversed with each other. “Seeing how you stood up for your female employee is out of character. I thought you weren’t Ego when I saw you.”
“Do you know each other, Ego-San?”
“In a way. Wear these. You’ll need it when communicating with the other coaches.” Ego fished out a small black box that had Blue Lock’s symbol on it. You took it from his grasp and opened the box. There were black wireless earbuds.
“Earbuds?”
“Reo Mikage’s family had decided to sponsor Blue Lock and give us one of their products. That being translator earbuds, it’s light and won’t come off no matter how much you move around, and it’s hardly noticeable.” You wore it, and it almost felt unnoticeable. You then turned to the striker and slight bow.
“What is Ego Jinpachi like at work, Ms.Manager?” You were a little shocked, hearing him speak so clearly in Japanese with a believable accent. These earbuds are something else.
“O-oh, well. He can very harsh and would constantly criticize you for the littlest thing.”
“That’s accurate enough.”
“You damn brat.”
“I’m (name) (last name), Mr.Noa. It’s an honor to meet you.”
“I’ve heard many things about you from Ego.”
“Good or bad?”
“A bit of both.” You sighed hearing his quick response.
“Although, he often notes how you go above and beyond with your work despite being so young,” Noa mentioned—taking a sip of his champagne. You worked up hearing his statement and looked at Ego, who didn’t meet your eyes.
“Ego-San sometimes shares with me his instant noodles and such.” On occasion, when you would be busy with your work, Ego would always make you some instant noodles for a snack to go with your work. It touched your heart as he did care for you after all. (Before he berates you for doing absolutely nothing)
“How… amusing.” Noel glances at his friend, whose eyes softened by a fraction. The striker was quick to take a champagne glass from a waiter's tray and hand it to you.
“Ms. (Last name), you wouldn’t mind if you left your boss and me alone for a while? So we can talk a little about this passion project of his.”
“Of course, have fun.” You whispered before walking away from the two men, placing a hand above your beating heart, and your lips formed a shaky smile—excitement and adrenaline running through your veins. You did your darn best to keep your smile under wraps in favor of showing a calm and professional side of you to the man himself.
“I need to tell Anri-San about this—!” You spun your head from left to right to find the red-haired woman, but you saw her surrounded by sponsors, with Anri conversing seriously with them.
You decided to calm your excitement down and walked around the ballroom. You had to admit, this was something you would see in a movie. The piano was playing in the middle room; you were drawn to its alluring melody, and before you knew it, you were in front of the grand piano while admiring pianist playing.
“Are you into classical music, Miss?” A man purrs into your ear from behind. You recoiled away upon feeling a person's hot breath against your ear. “Haha! Didn’t mean to scare you there, lovely.”
The man had short, curly blond hair, sapphire blue eyes and a mole in the corner of his right lip. He had a well-built body, the suit fitting snuggly in his body. He was taller than you, your head level with his chest.
“I don’t think it’s good manners to suddenly whisper into someone’s without even introducing yourself.” You retorted lightly at the man, and he raised his hands in a playful gesture. “Sorry, miss. I thought I saw a diamond in the corner of my eyes.”
He confessed with a lazy grin. You sighed softly at his attempt at flirting, and you looked back at him. He seemed familiar like you’d seen him before.
“Maybe it’s because of my necklace.”
“I wouldn’t think that if I were you, lovely.” He winks at you, you left a bit uncomfortable with him. “Umm, I just turned 18, I’m not that to comfortable with someone older by a few years older than me…”
“Ahahaha!! Just wait until the fans see this, Chrissy!” A boisterous voice boomed from across the room. A man with tanned skin and wild blond hair, swung his arm over to Chrissy. He wore a black suit with a gold blouse, some of the buttons undid to reveal his chest tattoos.
“You were the one who told me to do it! Miss, I am truly sorry.”
“No, he’s not. He was, like ‘dude, check out that girl with in that dress, she super fine, ‘m gonna go talk to her and hold my drink.’ Basically.” The man matter of factly. Chrissy’s jaw dropped and looked at you who was trying to process this information.
“Lavinho, you’re this worst!”
Wait, Lavinho? As in that famous Brazilian dribbler? Whose representing the Spanish team Barcha?
“You’re… Lavinho?” You spoke and the man turns to you before grinning ear-to-ear. He took your hand and bowed.
“In the flesh, pretty lady! Man, am I lucky to have gorgeous woman like you to know my name. It’s an honor.” He boasts to himself before he grabbed his friend by the arm.
“By the way, this is Chris Prince! But call him Chrissy, though, it’s cute right? Chrissy, Chrissy~”
“Oh my gosh, can you stop? You’re embarrassing me in front of her!” Chris Prince, commonly known as worlds no.2, whispered harshly into Lavinho’s ear, who blew raspberries into his face.
“Oh my gosh, are you immature!” You couldn’t help but laugh at their shenanigans. You never expected them to be this carefree in person. It was fun!
“Let’s calm down now.” You cooed at them, trying to stop Chris from pulling on Lavinho’s collar. “What the lady said, Chrissy. Calm down.”
“I am calm!”
“Says who?”
As Chris was about to strangle Lavinho, you hurriedly took him by the arm and tried to anchor him down with your body weight.
“Let’s calm down! We wouldn’t want to attract too much attention now, do we?” You stammered nervously as the crowd’s eyes were on the three of you. How many times has it already been since the attention was suddenly focused on you.
“You heard the lady, Princey-”
“That includes you, Mr.Lavinho.” He looks at you with shock and Chris glanced at Lavinho with a victorious smirk.
“He’s such a wild person, isn’t he, lovely?”
“A little bit.”
“What?!”
“But not in a bad way.”
“I knew I could trust in you, pretty lady!” Lavinho laughed as he slamming his palms on your shoulders making you wince.
“I hope you can forgive me for that initial greeting, miss?”
“Oh, right. I never introduced myself! My name is (name) (last name) and I’m the manager of Blue lock. It’s a pleasure meeting you both, Mr.Lavinho and Mr.Prince. And it’s alright, Mr.Prince. You didn’t do anything if offense anyway. You briefly introduced yourself with a bow and a smile.
“Oh~! So you’re the woman glasses mentioned we would be working with! Nice to meet you too. Hope we can work together soon!” Lavinho grinned as did Chris.
“Are you a model by any chance? I mean, you have the potential one.” Chris asked curiously. Your posture and beauty were very much similar to models. He would know as he posed with some female models in the past.
“I actually did some modeling jobs when I was 16. Although I’m currently on a break.”
“Ha! I knew it! A beautiful girl like you would be scouted sooner or later. Hey, how about we do a shoot-?”
“She told you she was taking a break from the cameras, Chris.” Another man reminded to the English man with a sigh as he came from behind you and smiled at you apologetically. He had short blond hair and large emerald green eyes with a very well defined nose.
“I’m so sorry about him, Ms.(name). Please don’t let him bother you.”
“It’s alright. I don’t mind doing a shoot with him.”
“See?! It’s almost impossible to say no to this handsome face.” Chris laughs. Pulling out a hand mirror and admires himself, smiling at the mirror and winking at himself.
“Is he… usually like that?”
“Sadly.”
“You seem to know me.”
“I happen to overhear you introducing yourself, my name is Marc Snuffy. Call me Snuffy. It’s a pleasure meeting one of Blue Lock’s beautiful managers.” Snuffy grinned kindly at you making your heart skip a beat.
“Beautiful? Now, I think that’s a stretch!”
“Not what the posts say about you.” He laughs lightly, pulling out a phone to reveal screenshots of a Tiktok comment section filled with compliments and love towards you.
“I must say, the media quite likes you after those little videos with you and Pablo Cavasoz dancing.” You glowered in embarrassment as you remembered the famous baby-face Argentina player, who was mysteriously drawn to you and dragged you to Harajuku with you to film Tiktok dance video’s in the middle of the street or inside the stores and to go shopping.
Never again were you going to be bribed with food and a promise of manicures.
“I-I’m honestly flattered that you think that way, Mr.Snuffy. Thank you. You’re Uber’s coach, right?”
"Correct and I hope my team wouldn't be too much of a trouble to deal with." He jokes lightly making you laugh.
"Have you seen my players? They would be at each other's throats if I look away for a couple of seconds! Like my Rin and Isagi for example."
"Considering the fact that your no.10 dodged a hug from 11... I'd say that their relationship is..."
"Rough? Absolutely."
"We all have those friends." You and continues to conversed at one another about your teams along with his. Snuffy is quite the gentleman you noted. Very polite and respectful.
"Yo, Snuffy. When're we gonna go back to the dorms, 'm tired." You heard someone complain. A man with messy black hair with purple tips and dark purple eyes, laid his head on the Uber's captain's shoulder with a sigh. You rubbed your eyes to wear off any drowsiness as you thought the man had gold teeth for a second.
"It's only 10 pm, Lorenzo and button up your shirt." Snuffy scolded Lorenzo who groaned but stopped midway as he saw you. "Who's this pretty lady, Snufs?"
"Her name is (name) and she's Blue Lock's manager. Be kind."
"Isn't she on the news one time? Like people thought she was Pablo's girlfriend or stuff." You sunk on the floor in embarrassment, remembering the countless news articles that you were his girlfriend. You even got a call from your father who was pissed at you for keeping your not-boyfriend a secret.
"Erm, I'm actually not his girlfriend... hehe, it was an misunderstanding."
"Huh, really?"
"Yup, the media assumed that we were dating just from a few videos of us dancing and doing some sightseeings around Harajuku."
"I see. So yer gonna be our new manager?"
"As far as I know, yea."
"Let's be friends then! Snuf, 'mma borrow her real quick." Lorenzo immediately went towards you and wrapped his arm around your shoulder and waved goodbye at Snuffy who told the two of you to have fun.
"Names Don Lorenzo but just call me whatever you want since we're gonna be friends and all."
"Alright, Mr-"
"And no Mister and all that title shit, just call me Lorenzo or whatever- oh! Snuffy does call me Donny at times."
"So is Lorenzo alright with you?"
"Totes." Lorenzo was quite the character. He's friendly and a laidback type of guy, you felt at ease just by being with him as you started to slip from your professional mode. You were enjoying yourself with Lorenzo as the two of you conversed with other topics other than football.
"By the way, are this gold grills on your teeth?" You asked curiously. The two of you were seated a couch with a plate of crackers, cheese and caramel popcorn. He stops eating the popcorn and pulled on the corner of his mouth to give you a full view of his gold teeth.
"These babies? Nah, before all of this, i was some homeless kid on the streets of Italy, begging and robbin' people of their money until Snuffy came into my life askin' me if I wanna play football with him,"
"I was like, 'what's up with this dude? He crazy as fuck,' so then I was like 'replace my rotten teeth with golden ones' and do you know what he did afterwards?"
"He immediately dragged you to the nearest dentist and had it replaced with gold teeth?"
"Exactly! You're so smart." Lorenzo praises, throwing popcorn in the air and caught some with his mouth while also missing some, which you then picked up from the couch and ate it so it won't go to waste.
"Who knew that Mr.Snuffy is such a kind man."
"Kindest in the world. He's the type of person to not give up on others just cause." The player says fondly. You grabbed your champagne glass and felt it was unusually light, you then saw that it was empty. "I'm out of champagne. I'll go grab some more."
"Nah, I'll do it. You sit your pretty self here."
"Thanks but I can handle it, Lorenzo." You pat his shoulder before taking off with your empty glass and towards the bar for a quick refill.
You arrived at the bar and leaned against the counter. "Excuse me but can I get a refill in champagne? Non-alcoholic if there is."
"In a second."
"Can I get a martini?" Someone ask beside you. You glanced at them saw the familiar fluffy hair of brown to purple beside you.
"Are you... Alexis Ness from Bastard Munchen, by any chance?" The man beside you perks up upon hearing his name and turned to you with a nod and a kind grin.
"Yes and you're?"
"(Name) (last name). One of Blue lock's managers. It's nice to see you this evening, Mr.Ness."
"Please no need to call me Mister, just call me Ness and the pleasure is all mine.”
“Ness it is then. About that match with (club name), you did a good job out there.” You praise the player. You watched his match with (club name) a few weeks ago and was amazed at Ness’s clean assist and passes to a star player in his team.
“Really? I didn’t do all that much, it was all-”
“Why would you say that? Your assists were clean and quick. Not even the other players knew you would do it.” You interrupted Ness, and you meant every word you said. He looks at you in shock before red soon blossoms on his cheeks.
“You really think so?”
“Yea, although… I do have a tiny teeny problem…” Ness frowns upon hearing your last words. He had hoped he would gain a fan after all his hard work, but it seemed his efforts-
“That you didn’t score any goals!” Now that left him confused.
“E-excuse me?”
“You’re obviously a great player with amazing dribbling and passing skills, so why don’t you use it score your own goals? I mean, seriously, I hoped you would score that last goal before you passed to number 10.” You went on a little rant, and Ness stood there in awe with your words.
You weren’t focused with Kaiser but instead your attention was on Ness and even wanted him to score goals!
His heart started to beat even faster when you were praising his work and sets of skills. Ness looked up and got a good look at you, he had to admit, you were very beautiful in that dress.
“Kaiser is Bastard Munchen’s Ace so we dedicate all of the goals towards him.”
“But isn’t that letting your own skills go to waste? You’re hindering yourself just so that your number 10 can win. How about this?” You grabbed Ness by the arm and sat him on the stools, and you sat across him. Leaning towards his shoulder, you narrowed the distance of your lips to his ears. Ness’s heartbeat grew increasingly erratic as you drew closer. He felt your hot breath against the shell of his ear and smelled the perfume in your skin, blending with the champagne you were drinking.
“Your ace knows that you would be passing to him for every game, no?”
“Yes…”
“And I’m also sure that the rest of your team along with Mr.Noa would be aware of this fact. What I’m trying to say is that,”
“When trying to pass to your beloved Ace, change course and score the goal for yourself. I’m sure the opposing team would also know about your play style. Therefore, they would surround your ace to prevent a successful pass from approaching him.” You explained with a mischievous smile after seeing Ness’s shocked expression. Gone was his ear-to-ear grin as it was replaced with an open mouth.
“B-but Kaiser-”
“So what about him? He can score his own goals if he’s your so-called ace. Ness, you’re an amazing player, but you lack the independence of one or, rather… the ego of one. Omg… I’m starting to sound like Ego-San.” You pulled away from Ness and seriously contemplated your words. Ness, however, was silent as he let your words sink deep into his consciousness. You looked at Ness’s blank face, and yours swelled in embarrassment.
He probably didn’t understand your rambling. Even when you thought you sounded cool saying it!! You stood hastily after the bartender finally refilled your drink and cleared your throat.
“I probably wasn’t making any sense. This is more on Ego-San’s department. Forget I said anything, Ness-”
“No… I was hoping you could explain more about this ego. Please… I want to learn more about it, Ms.(name).” Ness took hold of your wrist and slightly tightened his grip on you. His tone… it sounded like he was begging you.
You stared at the B.M player with a conflicting mindset as you looked between your drink and Ness.
“So this is why my drink has been taking a long time. I didn’t know you were busy flirting with a girl, Ness.” A man purrs condescendingly as he struts towards you both. Ness reluctantly lets go of your wrist and looks shamefully to the side. “So-”
“And who is this lovely lady keeping you company, hm?” The man in front of you grinned at Ness. He had blond hair styled into a long mullet with blue fades. He wore a dark blue suit and matched it with a tie. Something was peeking from his collar, but you couldn’t determine what it was, probably a tattoo or something.
“(Name) (last name), one of the managers of Blue Lock, and I take it that you’re Kaiser?” His smile grows as his name rolls out from your tongue, and he takes your hand, fluttering his lips over your knuckles before he firmly presses his lips on your knuckles.
“Micheal Kaiser, das Fräulein. Star player of Bastard Munchen.” The Ace says matter-of-factly with a grin, and you smile at him uncomfortably, looking at the area where he kissed.
“Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew.” You repeated in your head as you tried to pull back your hand, but Kaiser gripped you as he incoherently conversed with Ness.
“I take it that you know Blue Lock’s Ace: Isagi Yoich? That plain looking guy.” Your lips turned into frowns hearing him describe your friend.
“Yes. Is there something you wanted to ask him?”
“Oh no, I was just making sure that you were his specific manager. After all, I would want him to look at your face once I humiliate him.”
“Excuse me?” You honestly expected Kaiser to be a prideful person. That was for sure. But for him to straight up admit his intentions in front of you? Now, that was a bold him.
“I think you heard me, (name). I plan to make Isagi Yoichi, the hero of Blue Lock, an obstacle for me to overcome. Make sure he’s worthy of that title.” Kaiser requested you like it was a normal thing to ask. As your glare towards him hardened, Kaiser couldn't care less. You slowly exhaled, placed your glass gently, and pushed yourself towards him.
“As you wish, I’ll make sure Isagi Yoichi will be an impossible obstacle for you to overcome.” Now it was his turn to be annoyed as he took his vacant hand and roughly grabbed your upper arm to pull you closer. His face was nearing yours with a cocky snarl.
“Is that a threat?”
“A promise, rather.”
“To think that Blue Lock would have such a feisty manager, I wonder how Jinpachi Ego leashed you.”
“Leashed me? Do you think I’m some kind of dog?!”
“Oh, I know! You’re the character who blindly placed her fate into the clown who thought of himself as the main character, but that’s going to change once I step into the field,” he removes his grip from your upper arm and clasps his hand around your jaw to pull your face even closer to his. You instinctively tried to tear away, but his strength proved greater than yours.
“I could just imagine what dear Isagi’s face will look like once I humiliate him in front of his pretty manager.”
“As if that would happen.” You rasped, trying to pry his hand away from your face. As Ness was about to intervene finally, Lorenzo came into sight, taking hold of Kaiser’s wrist with a deadly grip, his gold teeth shining against the light, and the Italian let out a whistle in amusement.
“Damn, Kaiser… never you would act like a dick if a girl don’t wanna be with ya.”
“Where did you come from, you damn zombie?”
“Wonderin’ where (name) was at, said she was goin’ to refill her drink. Didn’t know you were holding her hostage.” The two-star players glared at each other in disdain. Kaiser started to feel the blood being cut off from his hand and he rips away his grip from your face. You stepped back and massaged your jaw.
“Are you alright, (name)? I’m sorry I couldn’t-”
“It’s alright. I expected he act like this. Fucking prick.” You huffed, drinking your champagne as Ness looks ashamed.
“Honestly… I should’ve intervened when he grabbed you by the arm. I’m so sorry-”
“Ness, Ness, baby, love.” You sweet-talked and grabbed his jaw gently. (Unlike someone) “It’s alright, I get it. We all freeze sometimes, even I do. So you don’t gotta worry about it, okay?” You smiled. Expecting him to agree with you and let all of this be over with. He tentatively nodded, and you let go of his jaw before turning to the bartender. “Actually, can I get the bottle?”
Before the bartender could hand you the bottle, Lorenzo snatched it from him, took you the waist and led you away from the bar, making a mocking face at Kaiser.
“See ya in the field, naked emperor!” The Italian player laughs as he waves and pours you a drink. You turned to Ness and gave him a smile and wave, which he returned. You met Kaiser’s glare and returned it with a glare and a middle finger.
“Is he always so arrogant?”
“24/7, babe. 24/7.” Lorenzo sighs, patting your shoulder. “Hey, your lipstick… Kaiser must’ve smudged it.” He stares at the colored streak nearing your jaw. You placed your finger on it and saw the colored stain on your finger. You hissed at the sight and covered the lower half of your face.
“Damn that rat. Lorenzo, I’ll be back. Need to fix myself.”
“Sure, I’ll be on the couch!” He removed his arm, and you speed-walked through the crowd towards the hallway where the servers were going in and out. You swiftly dodged the waiters that’s were carrying snacks and drinks, you saw a waiter who seemed to be on break, seeing that she was on her phone.
“Excuse me, miss. Where’s the bathroom?” She looks up from her phone and points at the direction where to go.
“Second to the last door on the left.”
“Thanks.” And with that you immediately took off.
During the trip toward the bathroom, you recalled your rather eventful evening. A JFU member asking disgusting questions, Ego saving you, meeting Noel Noa, Chris Prince flirting with you, Lavinho laughing at Chris, Marc Snuffy appearing, Don Lorenzo whisking you away from the night, meeting Ness and getting harassed(?) by Micheal Kaiser.
And here you thought you would be the loner who escaped from the party to the safe haven that was the balcony. So much for that, at least. As you wiped the stain away, you were quick to reapply a new batch on your skin but before you exited the bathroom, you took a few photos of yourself for good measure and sent a few to your brother to let him decide which ones should you post as you were indecisive.
[You sent 15 photos]
You: which one of these do I look the prettiest?
Little demon: none
You: what if I tell Ma and pa?
Little demon: Your alrd pretty tho but for me 1 4 9 and 13 are the best ones
You: I know I’m pretty. I’ll be positing these soon after party
Little demon: don’t post. Dress is revealing. I can see your BOOBS
You: only a little :(
Little demon: what if I tell Ma and pa?
You: I hate you
Little demon reacted: 👍
You huffed seeing your younger brothers weak response and before you could text something back, you bumped into someone’s side.
“Sorry- (name)?” The man spoke, and you looked up to find the black French player in front of you wearing a suit paired with a bow tie. You lit up seeing the player and tucked away your phone to give him a big hug.
“Loki!! Oh my gosh, how’re you?”
“I’m fine. It’s good to see you again after a couple of weeks. Mr.Pablo has been bombarding me with texts asking for your socials. That man won’t give up.” He sighs as he pulls away from you, and you laugh.
“You might have you endure that for a little while longer, Loki dear.” He sighs again and you took him by the arm and dragged him down the hall.
“I heard we’ll be working together again. Good luck to us then.” Loki says, patting your hand before giving you a kind smile, which you return. The two of you reentered the ballroom and went your separate ways. Loki said he couldn’t leave his team alone as they would likely cause a scene without him there.
“I’ll see you at work, peace maker.”
“Have a fun evening, (name).” Then you went back to where Lorenzo was sitting, spending the rest of the evening with the Italian, joking, judging other people, talking about your respective counties and your experience with football.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Copyright US Postal Service (which issued a stamp with the image and quotation).
The image is by Josef Albers, one of the most influential teachers of art in the US in the 20th Century. The image is part of his “Homage to the Square” series, an extensive study of color and light. The text on the poster says, “Learning never ends.” The poster is signed by Shirley Hufstedler, who served as the first Secretary of Education from 1979 to 1981.
The poster in this image was Shirley Hufstedler’s personal copy. I purchased it at a charity auction on the promise that Shirley would sign it.
I mentioned several weeks ago that my close friend and former law partner Seth Hufstedler passed away at 102. Shirley Hufstedler was Seth’s wife. For several years, Shirley, Seth, and I were partners in the same law firm, although I knew Shirley my entire professional career. Shirley passed away in 2016.
On Monday, my wife Jill and I went to our storage locker to drop off Christmas decorations. Jill reminded me that we had the poster signed by Shirley. It hung for many years in my wife’s office when she was a professor of education at LMU in Los Angeles. The poster went into storage after Jill retired. We are now giving it to one of our daughters, who was just admitted to the bar and will be practicing in education law.
Shirley Hufstedler was a trailblazer. She was the first woman (or among the first) in nearly everything she did: attending Stanford Law School, serving as an editor on the Stanford Law Review, becoming the only woman in the 119-judge Los Angeles court system, serving as the first female judge on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, and serving as the first Secretary of Education, appointed by Jimmy Carter.
Jimmy Carter intended to nominate Shirley as the first woman on the US Supreme Court. (I have seen Carter’s handwritten note to Shirley stating his intention to do so.) Carter lost, and Shirley returned to the private practice of law.
During her career, Shirley served as a leader in many capacities, including serving on the governing boards of Cal Tech, Stanford, Harvard, West Point, the American Bar Association, and the California Bar Association—to name only a few.
Shirley told the story of her first day on the job as Secretary of Education. She was ushered into an office that contained a desk, a chair, and a phone. She had no staff, no office supplies, and (I believe) no convenient restroom for women.
But she persevered and built the Department of Education from the ground up.
As a sign of her broad worldview and commitment to education, she commissioned the poster pictured above. The image is subtle—which is the point. Josef Albers was born in Germany and began his career as a schoolteacher. The message that “Learning never ends” describes Shirley’s lifelong intellectual curiosity. She wanted to pass on that commitment to lifelong learning to others.
Shirley Hufstedler was eminently qualified to found and lead the Department of Education. She was placed in that position of trust by President Jimmy Carter, whose state funeral will take place on January 9, 2025.
Eleven days after Jimmy Carter’s funeral, a man who has promised to dismantle the Department of Education will be sworn in as president. He will nominate a woman to lead the Department of Education whose main qualification consists of promoting fake wrestling matches in an organization plagued by claims of sex abuse. The nominee, Linda McMahon, has been sued for allegedly enabling the sexual exploitation of children in the wrestling industry. (She denies the allegations.)
Linda McMahon’s primary connection to education is that she falsely claimed to have earned a degree in education. She did not earn such a degree and now claims to have been “confused” about whether she did. See Newsweek, Linda McMahon Lying About Education Degree 'Disqualifying': Attorney.
I doubt Ms. McMahon would authorize a similar poster extolling the virtues of lifelong learning. Or use a work from a German émigré who created a multi-year study of light and color entitled “Homage to the Square.”
In the span of forty-five years, we have traversed the landscape from Jimmy Carter and Shirley Hufstedler to Donald Trump and Linda McMahon. But here is a hopeful thought: Neither Trump nor McMahon have a clue how important the Department of Education is in the lives of millions of schoolchildren and their families. But they are about to find out—a real-life demonstration of the adage that “Learning Never Ends.”
Ronald Reagan tried to dismantle the Department of Education—but failed. In three short years, Shirley Hufstedler and Jimmy Carter gave the department deep roots that survived the efforts of stronger men than Trump to dismantle the Department of Education. I believe it has a good chance of surviving this latest adversity.

thinking way too hard about things that probably do not need this much thought
In lieu of tfc merc brainrot, I have decided to do some historical research and character workshopping to shape out the details of everything needed in ficwriting. I have nothing else to post (my art is not going well) so I might as well scream about this
P1: TF2 alternate history bullshit
Abraham Lincoln inventing rocket jumping before the existence of stairs, the entire thing with Australium, so on. Despite TFC having modern kevlar (as opposed to looney toons weapons, but a bit about that later) and a more serious/gritty tone, the setting is still within the TF2 universe; which means having a weird fusion of irl history and vaguely reasonable fantasy absurdities.
To clarify, I am not a bona fide history nut who knows absolutely everything (ffs my own country's history doesn't even play much in western incidents). I've just been doing research thru online articles, videos, and talking to other ppl who know more than me, so my brain can lack a bit for certain things; do correct me if I get anything wrong.
Tumblr media
By the 1850s (estimation) Australia became a tech giant due to discovering Australium, making insane progress in basically every field (and also making their population very jacked). Newfound inventions also require raw resources, and this page confirms that australians pick their leader mostly based on pure strength, which begs the question; are they still connected to Britain? Would there still be a benefit for them to be linked to Britian the way they are?
There are many cases where nations plunder other nations just for natural resources; Britian is one particularly infamous force with many colonies, which makes me wonder if Australia ever resorted to snatching them just to afford all the material components that their tech requires. Australia was part of the British Empire up until 1901 irl (not too far from 1890), but the question about resources and sovereignty(even if symbolic) still remain (Britain likely wouldn't like a territory growing at terrifying and eventually unmanageable rates, and at that rate I doubt Australia would settle for middling trade margins)
(Well, apparently Saxton owns England. But that was when he discovered the internet)
Tumblr media
There's also the ensemble of first gen mercs. RED and BLU recruit progressively less important mercs as time goes on, starting from important historical/media figures, to modern militant professional-lookin dudes, and finally to the current crop of crackheaded TF2 mercs we know and love. The Original mercs I mostly want to focus on are Abraham Lincoln and John Henry.
I'm not exactly sure if John Henry is even a real person, but he was a symbol for labor movements and the civil rights movement; the fact that he IS a real person in TF2 lore is p vital methinks, especially since him and Lincoln seem to be on the same team. Mercs are paid a lot, even the "bottom of the barrel" tf2 ones: scout has his merch collection to show for it, medic has his exotic animal parts, heavy has his gun ammo (and also casually gave a child 7k dollars), etc; could John Henry have spearheaded civil rights movements not just in America but also other territories (like africa) with the bread and merits he got for the job? Does he have a legacy with rouge merc groups (armed unions?) that fight against imperialism? Maybe even effect/radicalize Lincoln about some things??? Unethical business practices still persist even in Saxton's era (hell, he's an example) but maybe the (hypothetical) challenges to Britain's grasp on its colonies and evolution of munitions would give the people an edge.
I have no idea how a drastically colony-less Britain would affect the timeline of WW1 (esp in less popular side-wars like in South Africa where Britain was very much involved, which may be problematic since my interp of cmedic is FROM there but anyways) (btw they only won that bc they out-attritioned Germany, but by that point maybe the dutch or the americans would take over), but surprisingly enough WW2 ends at around the same time it does irl, despite my initial thought that a roided-out Allied Australia would be more than capable of turning the Axis Powers into a skidmark. The likely explanation for that is that the finer details were just not important for the tf2 comics that took place AFTER (fair enough), but as someone planning to write the 1930s mercs . Pain . My working explanation is that seemingly unaligned private contractors can get ahold of weapons easier than Certain governments, which makes mercs more popular than national soldiers for carrying out certain missions (plausible employer deniability baybeeee).
P2: Conflicting class meta - CHeavy edition
Onto something less heavy, another part of ficwriting is figuring out how characters are...characterized. The TFC mercs dont have much canonical info (I've already turned two of them into straight up ocs because I am NOT going to write p3dos from start to finish of a longfic) so I settle for looking at other things, like gameplay and ingame roles.
The first I focused on was cheavy, the leader of the group. Grouchy, but a surprisingly tolerant team player.
Tumblr media
This IS reused from a previous post (im lazy) but the first bullet basically says "otherwise, offensive heavies are frequently looked down on and the power of the other team's defense will have you dead in no time". Gameplay-wise, CHeavy is considered the simplest class and the easiest one to master; most tfc gamers think its a common noob pick. His total health is pretty good, he occupies a big space so he can block narrow paths, and the way he attacks is simple; but he's slow even when b-hopping (grenades cant boost him either) so he can be outrun/picked apart by other classes, which really shows in tfc's most popular game format: capture the flag.
I've seen about a handful video of tfc gameplay that WASN'T ctf (or the slightly diff gamemode with a defense system), and even if the 4th bullet point is right, those two classes are usually doing more important things during ctf. My main point is that despite being the leader, he isn't the type of class to lead the charge.
The most reasonable thing I can think of is that he's just . Really good at strategy and can keep track of his team while reliably holding down a position. That, and his superior bulk makes him shine more outside of the gravel pits. Whatever it is, it does make more sense to me now that I revisit the comic panels where he is VERY spiteful that his teammates got killed (rather than calling them weak, they fr matter to him bc otherwise, he isn't getting shit done)
(Ik the reason hes the boss is bc big scary dude and karmic ass-handing via other heavy who actually respects his doctor but shh the fic demands reasons)
P3: Conflicting class meta - Cmedic edition
The contradiction I can immediately clock is the fact that cmedic never gets mentioned despite his omnipresence in his original game. Most hc's I've seen interpret him as the exact opposite of the current medic, which is a dedicated doctor who also happens to be a sweetheart (with very rare exceptions), but may I propose the theory that all mannco medic mercs are bastards? I'm 99% sure that the original medic was sigmund freud. TF2 medic is just a menace. Post WW1 most moral and noble medics would bust their asses at hospitals rather than sign up to a contract tying them down to just healing 8 other people and killing other people over and over, but that's just my hc (we're all making shit up, might as well have fun with it).
The most common citing for cmed's hidden menace energy is his virus weaponry, but I think his ingame role also shows it pretty well. Practically taking the scout's niche and making it less punishing by having straight upgrades of his two weapons, giving healing utility AND also being able to sniff out spies like a cscout (he can't diffuse bombs or trail caltrops, but he's already powerful as is). Imagine being cscout, having to compete for flag capture points with this guy who practically has everything you have but better (instead of leaving behind super visible spikes he has a college degree). This isn't even like the modern sniper vs spy debate where it can still be debated that spy has a unique niche with his mindgames, cmedic just straight up took copied his homework, 98% percent matching on the plagiarism bot.
Cscout and cmedic beef is very likely, but if cscout is a literal god at what he does then there won't be much issue, since the best cscout is ultimately better at flagrunning than cmedic. Its likely that cscout is simply human tho, so that's some drama that can happen.
Funnily enough the tfc class that gets the most weight and hate on its shoulders is sniper. This is because servers have a limit on how many snipers can join, and if a shitty sniper took up the slots, the rest of the team would be pretty pissed. Meanwhile, a competent sniper is the bane of every player's existence; a missed shot can still slow someone down until a medic cures them.
P4: cmedic backstory building hell - barely organized nonsense
Last one I swear. My drawings of cmedic explicitly portray him as a person of color- more specifically a cape malay, from the cape territory in South Africa; he even curses in malay in one of the posts. Ig I wanted the cast to be more diverse, but it did make his backstory somewhat harder to write.
Mann co is situated in New Mexico, far from SA. How and why did he get all the way there? With the fanon worldbuilding I set, what is stopping him from simply joining a nearer merc group? Probably heard of it through the grapevine, and travelled for fat stacks; wouldn't be uncommon for doctors (or mercs) to be highly motivated due to money. I wondered of what would set him apart from all the other hypothetical medic applicants that probably graduated from upstanding colleges like harvard, then I recall all those common hcs.
1)Most applicants assumed that the job would consist of primarily healing, without considering how bloodthirsty their company would be, and/or 2)the BLU team has been getting genuine medics and chewing them up like gum (and spitting them out utterly mangled, I suppose). There's also the possibility that some margin of these medics actually had some weapon training, but at that point a lot of time has been spent (also some conflicting motives there, I can't imagine the perks that a deadly merc job has over a hospital job unless the guy got a kick out of it).
My next idea was to make him a ww1 vet on the side of the British (australian? american?) colonies of SA, having joined midway after finishing his education. However this would clock his age during the current 1970s timeline to be around 81, pretty old; most of the tfc mercs would be 70s max around that time. Cmedic is visually the youngest of the mercs too, you can compare his smooth eyes to the more sunken cspy's eyes and there is a notable difference. This is really just an issue of me being on the fence about fully oc-fying him (a friend of him suggested making him a vampire, I am almost tempted to make it so).
In the case that particular hurdle is overcome, there are more details I have to iron out. I figured that his motives either come from wanting to financially help out his family after the war's sheer devastation, or just . a general resentment for the way things unfolded, and he swapped to merc work in the states to get properly paid for his work and (attempt to) fill the void in his soul. Maybe a mix of the two. An outlier in his community for being a godless man and having very material and tangible masters (science and money), he abandons the lofty ideals of nationalism and sides himself with the highest bidder in the private market. Also developed an insane immune system (trenches and exposure are no joke).
(Certain classes have shared characteristics across gens, like the demos' deranged smiles and engies' wholesome vibes. With sigmund freud, tf2 medic as the archetypal mad doctor, and tfc medic as the archetypal capitalist doctor, there are now three gens of doctors with dubious machinations.)
He'd probably be a great medic, respecting merc code and all (funfact tf2 medic mentions tfc demo by name, implying that he knows his real name and putting a dent in my theory that being on a first-name basis is a big deal actually , my countertheory to that is that grey mann gave him the team's files and tf2 medic wants to spite them). Cmedic also reverse-engineered the medkit and made a new version for non-gravel war missions, since the usual has several hard drugs (heals to full instantly and gives adrenaline boost, sounds sus especially if you read jarate's side effects) since he ended up somewhat caring about his pack of rabid animals

Additionally, many countries host job fairs and recruitment events that target specific professions, making it easier to connect with potential employers.
Key Considerations Before Moving
Before packing your bags, it's essential to understand the visa requirements, local job market, and cultural norms of the country you're aiming to work in. Preparing a tailored resume, understanding the necessary language skills, and familiarizing yourself with local business etiquette will give you a competitive edge.
Conclusion
Working abroad can be a fulfilling experience that enriches both your career and personal life. It's not without challenges—like adapting to a new culture and managing financial logistics—but the rewards are often well worth the effort. Whether you're looking for better job prospects, higher salaries, or the excitement of a new adventure, a foreign job could be the perfect opportunity for you.

The Trixer's guide. (warning. While real life events are mentioned- this is mostly a fictional story. I am not a professional nor should be considered one. Read at your own discretion.) CW: Lots of swearing and death. (===================𝒞𝐻𝒜𝒫𝒯𝐸𝑅 [𝟢]==================)
It's 1973. Czechoslovakia had just signed a treaty deal called "Treaty Prague". A nice treaty to go buddy buddy with the neighbouring country: Germany- a couple of decades after a devastating world war in the 40's. It was a huge wake up call for the whole country, but most sincerely, for the Machovek family too.
It was a dawn of a new realisation- a push to seek more throughout the world as German imports fuelled a roaring economy- inspiring hope in Pavel, the father of Mia- to search for grander opportunities across the seas. Across… America.
And by 1984 (when Mia was 11) they travelled all the way to California, and then finally resting in Bellwood.
And- well, that was it, really.
The Machovek family sought out a life where their dreams could be fulfilled, and mainly, to have a fruitful life. The "American dream". Unfortunately for them, their dreams laid in an open coffin, dug by uncle Sam himself.
And that's what it would be for Mia- serving countless hours in schooling and training- up to the point that she donned her blue hat and vest, and started working at a local warehouse as a courier. Serving her glorious country with honour and pain medication for her bad back...
This didn't really bother her though. Not many things did. Growing up in the isolation that she had- she mainly focused on what she wanted out of things, often introverting herself in most situations- but when she wanted to do something, she would do her best to do it.
She was smart for her age group- mostly focusing on things that filled her curiosity- such as the wonders of machines and learning- as well as being able to understand how logical functions worked in real life. Something that- would guide her into becoming versed in mechanics- taking apart old remotes and toys in order to make her own circuit boards. She was truly brilliant.
However, that didn't really apply to her grades…
Due to her hyper fixations- it landed her in major trouble with superiors who often glossed over her gifts- putting her in developmental training in order to focus her attention towards the "finer things in life". Which of course was- the neurotypical way of saying "put that down, do the boring stuff."
Landing her in the position where she is now.
An objection to authority, but one that can tolerate it when needed. And a burnt out mentality from being declined her curiosity- doomed to sink into the capitalistic ringer that will perpetuate her dread.
Though… This… Would not last forever. It's 1993 and the sun looms into a sunset- Mia, now 20 years old, would be just finishing up her shift, maybe some overtime if she wanted to store some money for the piggy bank. However- her boss had different ideas. Instead of the usual overtime work she was meant to deal with- she was given a request to run an errand. She was tasked at investigating what was going on in a barren warehouse that hadn't been used for a couple of months. It was much cheaper to ask Mia to briefly take a look than it was to hire a crew to see what was going on- especially since there's some type of lock that's preventing the doors from being open…
However, Mia being overtly cunning- she manages to find a way inside via the use of a broken window- sheepishly covered by a burnt and discarded metal plate.
-Good lord... There's... So many wires and tech. Who the hell squats here? This seems so shady...-
Wires hung from the ceilings, drapes tapered the walls of the warehouse. This scene somehow makes a regular warehouse look clean and liveable. Though, that wouldn't be the only thing on Mia's mind… As she explored deeper through the hung wires and discarded litter- She bumped her noggin directly on what appears to be… a container? Something so large- yet couldn't be identified through the mountains worth of cables and machinery that were hung from the ceiling- and circling the base of the room.
"This place was made by a fucking lunatic…"
"God, who could live like this?"
"how… Could someone make this? Without anyone noticing?"
These burning questions would circle through Mia's mind- enchanting her with a spell to uncover more, and that- she did.
Mia did circles around the perimeter of the room- managing to counting on how many containers there were. "three... And they're all boxing something in." Mia put her hand against the container. "Something... warm."
That was until she went around again- clocking something that caught her eye. It… Looked like a regular home computer, but it was definitely stripped of most of its parts… Just bordering on the metal mesh wireframe that kept it all together- all hidden under a plethora of wires.
Making way through the abundance of cables- furthering herself into the deeper parts of the techno jungle- she found the terminal. It was dusty, obscenely old- even for how long this warehouse was abandoned- so much so that by Mia simply scraping the wires off of the top of the box- it puffed a fresh dusty cloud into the air, inviting Mia to cough over the machinery.
The computer would already be on. Dimly lit by ulterior backlighting, requiring Mia to shine her torch on it:
[][][][][][][][][][][]
𝔻𝕆 𝕐𝕆𝕌 𝕎𝕀𝕊ℍ 𝕋𝕆 ℝ𝔼𝕊𝕋𝕆ℝ𝔼 𝕆ℝ𝔻𝔼ℝ?
ℝ𝕌ℕ, ℝ𝕌ℕ, ℝ𝕌ℕ- 𝕐𝕆𝕌 𝕊ℍ𝔸𝕃𝕃.
𝕎𝔸𝕃𝕂, 𝕎𝔸𝕃𝕂, 𝕎𝔸𝕃𝕂- 𝕐𝕆𝕌 𝕎𝕀𝕃𝕃.
𝔽𝔸𝕃𝕃, 𝔽𝔸𝕃𝕃, 𝔽𝔸𝕃𝕃- 𝕐𝕆𝕌 ℍ𝔸𝕍𝔼.
𝕎𝕀𝕃𝕃 𝕀𝕋 𝕃𝕆𝕆𝕂 𝔻𝔼𝔼ℙ 𝔽ℝ𝕆𝕄 𝕋ℍ𝔼ℝ𝔼?
𝕎𝕀𝕃𝕃 𝕐𝕆𝕌 𝔹𝔼 𝔽𝔸ℝ 𝔸𝕎𝔸𝕐?
[][][][][][][][][][][]
(𝕐/ℕ) (0/1)
_/
How crude.
Such an esoteric ramble. Like a poet that carved their ramblings onto potatoes after facing a lobotomy. Something so- utterly absurd for this to exist the way that it does.
Mia would face this adversity with curiosity- beginning to try and see if there were any secrets around the terminal that could lead her in a better direction. Under the terminal was an array of cardboard boxes, all stacked up and barely keeping itself together. It's simply a miracle that nothing has caught on fire yet. However, this search yielded no results… Not until Mia peeked at the back of the terminal, spotting something dulled and aged clipped into the side of the computer.
Picking it up, it revealed itself to be a note. Yet unlike the thing it was stuck inside- it was relatively clean and new. Maybe even just printed?
What relayed on it was just this:
"40.64058388203853, -73.98397614822532"
"Be quick, be fast, but most importantly, move."
"For I yield in my dark tunnel, to crumble from time- I hold one key to my survival…"
"I continued."
End of note.
"Guh- this is so insane!" Mia would say, as if she wasn't entirely enthralled by what she has uncovered.
What was a hoodlum or squatter checkup- turned into one of Mia's favourite things: A mechanical puzzle, dreamt up by a mad man (or to be presumed.)
Now, with new insight- Mia gandered her options, looking down at the keyboard that laid on top of the improvised desk- scowling at it… Like she was interrogating the computer with her eyeballs.
Grabbing a box, she sat down, looking down to the paper, and to the terminal, only to be scared to death by her walkie talkie, requesting for status of the errand.
"Hey there… What is the -KKRRRTH- (sta)tus on the warehouse?"
Mia would fumble the walkie talkie out of her pockets, hoisting it in her hands and clenching down the button. But as she does, she stops herself.
She looked towards the terminal, and the surrounding jungle of wires that tapered around her- humming to herself as she layed her options.
"Ms Machovek?"
“Y-yeah, sorry. Uh…” She briefly looked at the contraptions before her, looking down back to her radio. “Yeah there’s- something up here. I dunno. It’s all so hard to explain- I think we have a squatter?”
"What do you mean -KRRTTH- (th)ink? Oh- whatever. I’ll send some cops over- we don’t want a repeat of that knife guy ages a-KRRTH- (o). Get moving back to the main warehouse. I need you to lock up. It’s not that far away.”
“Yeah…”
And with that, her radio fell silent. What was left was the backlight of her radio screen, and the reflection before it- Mia's wavering thousand yard stare.
“Far away…”
“!”
Then the answer hit her, looking back to the computer- revising over the lines.
"run, run, run…" she began to mumble the text before her. "hmm…"
"the questions… They have to be what I'm answering to."
"Will it look deep…"
"Will it look far away…"
"Of course!" She bapped the cardboard desk- doing a cringey fist pump in the air and looked at the note. "Be quick, be fast… But most importantly… move."
"it has to be this." And with a click of the N and enter key… Summoned aching piston-dry… An ache of metal ripples through the warehouse walls- clanking and writhing through every part of the structure, ending near a cut into the container- unfolding an improvised door that leads inside the metal box.
“Oh god… This looks so sketchy…” Mia says in full confidence, taking strides inside.
And what laid before her was almost indescribable. Every surface… Covered in tech galore… The heat slapped her in the face as she pushed onwards into this terminal haven.
Tracing her eyes across the space, she summed up most of the equipment to be relay points, where all of the wires from before were beginning to connect to. All connecting to a suspended apparatus, trailing it’s own set of cables around itself and onto the floor… Heavily overcrowded with improvised plug sockets, tacky copper wires with ripped endings.
“This is… So out of my pay grade.” Mia said, deceiving herself- for she would pay to explore this personification out of her cold, hard-earned cash. Barely containing herself- Mia ogled at the machine before her and every dis-organized mess of papers that laid on the floor- intrigued at the crazy theorems and manifesto writings- darted all across the crazed floors.
As Mia was engulfing herself into madness… The sounds of machines and turning cogs didn’t seem to stop. Kunk, Krr…. Krank-dunk… And then fell silence, the apparatus in the middle of the room tingeing a blue hue.
Then… began the hum…
“-Hummmm….-Tik-Tik-Tik- Hummmm……KURTH-DUNK-” The machine said, as if to engage in conversation.
“-KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK-” Whispered a terminal.
“-bap-” A folder loudly exclaimed, as it fell to the ground.
And soon enough… Communication was made. Over… And over… It was as if the room itself came alive.
“This is…Wow…” Mia spoke breathlessly, looking deeper towards all of the instruments before her- staring every so often at the apparatus in the middle… Watching it begin to move it’s own parts, building itself.
It started off as a flat hemisphere… Crudely built with rectangles, indented plating and crude wiring… Then, blossoming into a higher form- resembling much of a pill form… The plates opening up to reveal a space inside- a… Landing pad of sorts.
The machine tilted, gyroscoping itself towards the roof. It hummed… hummed… hum… humm…..hm…..
A light.. A brief- brief light- appears in the centre… Sparking, leaving residue where it presented- beginning to bolden and generate itself into a basking glow- blinding Mia to the point of having to turn around, starting to light the concrete below her till a sudden- BANG- screamed through the entire nearby area, pushing Mia into a couple of old VCR’s and and bundles of wires.
When Mia lifts her weary head- her eyes lie on the explosion before her… The machine that was supported to the thick roof ahead of them- was now cracked, and offset from it was a hole- one that was burnt and degrading with time… Pouring a warm light that cascaded across the dungeon.
Thankfully, Mia was fine. Whatever that type of explosion was- it must’ve been a result of an accident, one that wasn’t intended to kill.
She stands, looking towards the fallen machinery, dragging herself through the mist of smoke that was beginning to pool from different sides of the room as a side effect of the impact- but one thing started to show itself more and more… A faint glow that peered through the rubble of metal and wires… A faint sound of metal crinkling can be heard- like robotic ants sawing their way through a metal house. It continued… More and more as Mia approaches the rubble- moving it aside as she peers inside, now beginning to ignore the sounds of her radio that screamed for attention… But it was now mute under Mia’s new found curiosity.
She pulled the last bunch of wires off, now seeing the source of the illumination and noise, and what laid before her was something out of a straight sci-fi… as it looked like what any ordinary human would call a bracelet- but it changed it’s form effortlessly, trying to assume three different shapes, all either long, short and with a variety of textures and patterns. But as if it was like it could see it being viewed- it twisted and contorted- and leaped onto Mia’s arm- ever startling her and having her fall on her ass.
A terrible singe started to burn into Mia’s skin- her long sleeved shirt being replaced by this crude and cruel piece of technology- eagerly burning through her skin. But before Mia could even begin to scream- the pain stopped, forcing her to take a breath and… briefly panic.
“A-GAH-! GET THE FUCK OFF ME-” She screamed- as she began to whip and thrash her arm against a variety of services- even using her legs at one point to apply heel force to get it off, all leading to nigh results.
Once Mia had toned herself down- still in a state of panic and fidget with the new device on her wrist… She glances towards the top of it, looking towards an emblem that sprouts and forms out of it, before digging into itself again… An hour glass symbol forms, and everything suddenly stops. The whole device resuming it’s new form- which was tacky, bulky and to be described as looking: tacky.
But before Mia could conjure any hypotheticals from her observations- the emblem turns and boldens. A ring replaces the emblem, and a dot appears like an electron on an atom… Blinking ominously.
“MIA MACHOVEK” Screamed from her hip- startling her.
“Y-yes?” Mia says, skittishly picking up the radio and clamming the sender button. “S-sorry. I don’t know what happened. I think- I think I need some help-” she continued.
“We’re already outside! We’ve been trying to get your attention to let us in- Are you okay?”
“Y-yeah, I think I need some help- somethin-” But before Mia could complete her sentence- her hand threw away the radio, smashing against the wall and screaming amongst the myriad of wires.
“What the hell-?” Mia tries to get up, only to look like she had been pushed back down. “What is going on-” Her arm rose, looking towards her wrist- the dot now glowing more and more urgently. Before she could even rationalise what was happening- it was like her legs were taken over as they began to walk for her out of the area. “w-wOAH- STOP-”
Her legs were controlled like an amateur puppet- doll walking through her past steps towards the entrance she walked through- tripping over and falling on her face into a pile of garbage that laid a few feet from the tacky entrance.
“Ugh… Please… Please stop-” She begged, but the device did not hear- for it forced her to get up and walk. But before she could walk another couple of steps- she spots her colleagues standing out front of the warehouse, both still trying to get in- but also seeming to be waiting. Mia pulls herself together- taking a deep breath to shout but was silenced by her own hand…
And that’s when she suddenly stopped- being forced to hunch but watch the warehouse.
She pulls aside her hand with her other- breathing heavily. “What the hell?- what- do you want to go, or not?!” She gritted her teeth towards her watch, but continued to watch.
A man steps out of the warehouse, joining the rest of the group. They talk. It’s obvious that they’re concerned about the where-abouts of Mia, and also explaining what they had found inside of the warehouse. A black limo appears, kicking up dust through the massive lot of buildings that occupy the land.
Two men step out, one stays by the car while the other goes to talk with the men- visibly well put together, and intimidating despite Mia’s distance from them.
“ugh..., I wish I knew what they were talking about. If only I could tell them- W-wait… They- they… don’t look like cops?…”
The man conversing with the rest of the group seems content with his answers- as he no longer puffs his chest. If anything… He looked… sad.
An omen, really.
He walked to the driver side of the car, getting in but his companion did not. Instead, he stuck his hand into his inner suit pocket, and drew a gun- shooting all three of the workers on the spot with maximum precision, all of them falling to the ground in a heartbeat. Mia uncontrollably screamed- bewildered by what she had just witnessed- only to feel the whiplash of the companion’s eyes meet hers- freezing her into a cold shock.
She breathed and breathed- her sudden collapse of reality hitting her like a ton of bricks- and there’s no reasonable way to cope with such a reality break. But now was the time to act- and if anyone in this situation knew that, it was the device on her hand. Because even though Mia didn’t know how to move, it did.
Parking lots, flat grass, trees and then eventually the city- Mia would run- now taking control of her own body- dodging and weaving people as she sprinted across town- not daring to shout and reveal herself to anyone more than she already was- all leading to her stopping at a coffee shop, completely and utterly exhausted.
“Hi! How can I get ya? You seem to need it, haha.” A voice interrupts her panic- lifting her head to see the barista of the shop look at her… And… She looked dazzling- but Mia couldn’t say anything.
“Are- are you okay?” She said, concerningly- only to jump at Mia clambering to the bar.
“S-sorry, uhm- I’m currently in a bit of trouble- right now. I -” Mia glances in a reflective picture frame- reflecting outside onto the side-walk, briefly catching a glance at the man that laid waste to her colleagues. “I- I am being followed- I-” She gets out of her lips, only to cry a bit inside as she watches the man pull out a badge. A… cop badge.
“A-actually- uhm-” Mia coughed- visibly sweating very hard- she looked at the name tag of the Barista, Zizi. What a beautiful name…
“S-so- sorry. I have tourettes- I say uh, some wacky stuff sometimes- I forgot my meds.” She said, knowing she is just making an egregious comparison- all at the cost of covering her ass.
“I have a cousin with tourettes.” The barista replied, seemingly unimpressed. “A-ah, well- you know, uh…” Yeah, there was no coming back from that one. “Do you know where the toilets are?” Zizi points towards the end of the restaurant, giving a very stern expression. “Please, knock yourself out.” She said, seemingly charged with harsh intent- Mia reflecting back with a sheepish smile.
-click-
“Oh… What the FUCK have I gotten myself into?” Mia said, staring into her reflection, feeling her face. She prances around the bathroom stall. “What am I going to do? Did- he really get shot? What the hell is going on?” Mia tried to rationalise the situation, clearly putting herself into a deep panic.
“Fuck… They’re going to recognize me. They’re going to recognize me! I- I need to do something, like- change my hair or appearance-” she spoke fast- taking off her jacket and wrapping it around her waist, taking off her employee pin and throwing it in the sink. “I…”
Just then, the watch on her wrist began to blink. It started slowly but sped up quickly to a point that it began a hum. Mia looked towards it, confused and startled- before she felt a tingling sensation go across her body and her head. “What- what is-” Mia managed to shiver out- as she looked towards the mirror and dropped her jaw to the floor.
A light would begin to glow from her skin... Perforating each miniscule crack in her skin... Her fingers starting to contort, merge...
-knock knock knock-
The sound instantly silenced Mia, holding her mouth as she darted her eyes towards the door.
“Hey, miss?” the sound of the prior cash manager’s voice emanated from outside the door, scratching and seeping through the door. “You good in there? You’re doing a lot of shouting.”
“Oh… I am so boned…” Mia whispered to herself, looking back at the mirror to see the transformations begin to slow down and stop. Mia can only star gaze at her new appearance. Her face was without pimples or grease, her skin felt incredible- and her hair… It looked practically impossible; now featuring a long long length all the way down to Mia’s ass, and boasting thick and unbrushed sections that stick out like a cow licked it.
“Ma’am?” The cashier asked again- bringing all of Mia’s attention back and instantly replying:
“Y-yes! I’m good! Just- uhm- I’m on my period and I uh, I forgot to take some pain medications-” She made a half assed excuse, praying to whatever god would accept her plea- wincing and cringing at her own pathetic attempt to divert attention away from her, only to end in something shattering.
“Look, ma’am. Sorry to break it to you, but we have police officers outside. You match the description. We’re going to need you to leave the premises.”
-knock knock-
“Hello?”
-knock knock knock-
A loud sound emanated from the inside of the toiletries- sounding like a sci-fi door opening at two times speed- and a purple light illuminated from within. “Oh fuck, I think they’re doing something!”.
Zizi backs up and gets pushed aside by the federal agents, who position themselves with their gun unholstered- one of the two going up towards the door to attempt an entry, but before they could do that-
-BWAMP- Went the door-  Instantly hitting the face of the prior agent- smacking him a couple of feet ahead, and just like clockwork- the other agent quickly pointed his gun around the corner, only to have his hand be grabbed and his person be instantly flown into the air by a dashing blue blur- resulting in the man falling from the ceiling and down to the ground.
What stood before Zizi was something she will never be able to unsee. Because- before her stood something she deemed impossible, a work of fiction- something she had dreamed all of her life: An alien. They stood there, tongued feet wrapped around shiny black spheres- lanky velociraptor looking legs and admittedly a pretty chubby build. Either way, truly- a sight to behold. The alien spoke:
“I’m- I’m sorry- I’m sorry I’m sorry-” They began to apologise, ushering their hands in a frantic motion as they looked morally conflicted on what to do. But before they could try and damage control the situation, their legs appeared to gain control- turning them around and turning them into the same blue blur as before. And just like that, it was over.
Zizi’s eyes were fixated on where they left off, her eyes unwavering- as if her reality had just been shattered, and then built back up again.

Today Israel confirmed that Germany is buying the Arrow air defense system. The overall cost is thought to be around $4 billion. Israel and Germany had been in talks since last year. The system was developed by IAI with support from Israel and the US. This system is designed to defend against the top tier of long range threats, such as ballistic missiles, the kind of missiles that are exoatmospheric.
This is a big purchase. It follows Israel selling David's Sling to Finland. What this means is that Israeli defense tech is now increasingly integrated throughout Europe. Hardly a week goes by without another announcement. Elbit, for instance, has a series of recent deals, including an EW deal in Germany announced this week for helicopters. Greece is getting Rafael's Spike missiles. Central and Eastern Europe is a big market.
As European countries empty inventories to send to Ukraine they need new and modern systems. Israel is well placed to provide systems that are proven. Also Israel exports are not an all-time high for defense products; a total of $12 billion last year. Of this around one quarter went to the Abraham Accords countries.
Israel is now more than just providing "weapons", these are systems and system of systems that help integrate radars in central Europe to countries defenses; and also provide multiple layers of defense tech. Israel also has strategic partnerships in India, with a lot of partnerships for India's local production; and with Azerbaijan and increasingly in Asia/Pacific. In the US Israeli companies partner with major US companies such as Lockheed and Raytheon; and unique Israeli defense products, such as items that protect against drones, or the Trophy system for tanks, are being outfitted to US forces. The talk and critique we hear sometimes of "the US should end aid to Israel" has no basis in reality. The R and D partnerships and deals are so deep and complex today that the critics have no idea what they are talking about.
Here is Israel's statement*
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, the Israel Ministry of Defense and Israel Aerospace Industries welcome the German Ministry of Defense and the Bundestag’s Budget and Defence Committees’ approval of the commitment to initiate the necessary steps to acquire the Israeli “Arrow 3” air and missile defense system.
The professional teams led by the Director General of the IMOD, Maj. Gen. (Res.) Eyal Zamir, the DDR&D’s Israel Missile Defense Organization (IMDO) and Israel Aerospace Industries are continuing discussions with their German counterparts to finalize the procurement contract. Israel Ministry of Defense officials maintain ongoing communication with the American administration to ensure the necessary sales approval.
The German commitment letter will be signed after the American administration grants approval for the sale.

2023 Trends in the Services Offered by the Best Study Abroad Consultants
Studying abroad offers a profoundly rewarding experience to individuals. It opens up a world of possibilities that let students and professionals widen their horizons, gain enriching experiences and immerse themselves in different cultures. In an era of increasing globalisation, the world is becoming more connected, and aspirants have more opportunities at their disposal. New destinations are coming up, costs are stabilising, and educational institutes are adopting a hybrid model, making the experience accessible to a broader audience.
English-speaking nations are actively seeking alternatives to attract more students and minimise language barriers. The other factors that influence students' choices are environmental sustainability and social impact.
In this blog, we will discuss 2023 trends that have been observed in the industry by the best study abroad consultants.
1. Mainstreaming hybrid overseas education
Hybrid, sometimes referred to as 'blended' learning, has been in the system for a decade, but it became popular only after the epidemic. The pandemic has made educators realise that a certain amount of flexibility is necessary for both the current situation and moving forward into the future.
This method involves teaching and learning both face-to-face and through online activities. Hybrid courses allow the student to align with the changing dynamics of the modern world, where digital skills and adaptability are increasingly crucial.
It helps students living in remote areas to progressively transition to self-motivated learning, where they can learn at their own pace while under their teachers' direct guidance. A number of international educational institutes are offering the option of hybrid model courses to make education accessible and cost-effective.
Mainstreaming hybrid learning is a positive transformation in the way education is delivered. MSM Unify is one of the few abroad education consultants in India who have a hybrid model operating, with esteemed colleges on board.
2. Integrating AI into education
Artificial Intelligence is a rich technological advancement that has entered into every industry, including the education industry.
By incorporating AI into the educational systems, educators can unlock new avenues for student engagement, optimise learning resources and create tailored learning experiences that cater to the unique needs of each student.
2023 has seen the acceptance of AI and how it has gradually changed the impartation of education. Therefore, institutions are now planning to include AI in their course.
3. Other trending overseas education destinations
Canada and the United Kingdom have always been popular for Indian students to study abroad. But abroad education consultants have seen 2023 has seen a rise in the demand for courses in destinations like Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, and others.
4. The STEM demand in India and overseas
STEM education encompasses four critical disciplines: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. It encourages critical thinking,problem-solving skills, innovation, and tech-ready individuals. It requires students to use logical and analytical thinking to solve complex problems.
STEM jobs have been in high demand and are expected to continue in the coming years.
5. Saving time with integrated programs
Integrated programs are becoming popular as they empower students to explore two academic disciplines in less time than usual. Like traditional learning, which takes four to five years for a bachelor's degree and two for a master's degree, Integrated Program lets students pursue both levels of education in five years. It expedites their academic journey and opens the door to multiple opportunities, making it an attractive choice for forward-thinking students.
6. More colleges and universities
The number of private colleges and universities has increased the competition among institutions, which has led them to adopt forward-thinking strategies. Consequently, there will be a proliferation of private colleges and universities in the future.
MSM Unify is prudent in its selection of partner colleges. It ensures that institutes with exceptional faculty are welcomed on board. This commitment ensures that students have access to the best educational opportunities and the support they require to achieve their dreams.

More than a decade ago, the German government made the deliberate decision to kill the ability of the Bundeswehr, Germany’s military, to fight a conventional land war in Europe and strip it of the equipment, manpower, and resources to do so. In 1990, as the Cold War was ending, the then-West German Bundeswehr alone was still able to field 215 combat battalions in a high state of readiness. Today, Germany has around 34 battalions, and the word “combat” is a bit of a misnomer. They are at such a low state of military readiness that when the 10th Tank Division conducted an exercise late last year, its entire deployed fleet of 18 Puma infantry fighting vehicles broke down.
The decrepit state of the Bundeswehr now stands in the way of the German government’s stated intention to play a greater role in European security and deterrence against future Russian aggression. Berlin’s offer last month to permanently deploy a full combat brigade in Lithuania may reflect the beginnings of a shift in German strategic culture, but it is unclear whether the Bundeswehr can pull even this task off. It took the German military two years of preparation for one such brigade just to be ready for exercises in Norway in 2019, when Germany led NATO’s Very High Readiness Joint Task Force, the alliance’s first responder to any military crisis. Germany’s pledge in 2022 to be able to deploy an entire division, or up to 30,000 soldiers, for NATO’s territorial defense by 2025 also remains doubtful. Even stripping other Bundeswehr units of equipment will likely be insufficient to adequately outfit an entire division.
There is, however, one bit of good news that might help Germany overcome this epic security debacle. While Germany just about killed the Bundeswehr, it did not kill the German defense industry. One of the world’s largest and most technologically advanced, Germany’s defense sector would have the products, technology, and manufacturing know-how to meet many of the Bundeswehr’s modernization demands over the coming decades. But to realize the modernization of the Bundeswehr through the German defense industry would require Berlin to have tenacious political will, a strong commitment to long-term financing plans, and a willingness to slash bureaucratic red tape in order to expedite and professionalize procurement processes.
With 135,000 workers inside Germany alone and some $30 billion in annual revenues, German defense companies are already among the world’s most important producers—and could indeed close many of the Bundeswehr’s existing capability gaps. The German defense sector’s key products include air defense systems (mobile, short-range, and medium-range); ground-based electronic warfare systems; loitering munitions; precision-guided munitions of all ranges and advanced artillery rounds; artillery systems, main battle tanks, armored personnel carriers, and next-generation armored vehicles; diesel-electric submarines (and perhaps large uncrewed underwater vehicles in the not-so-distant future); digitally encrypted communications; and networking and cloud capabilities for modern battle management. All these are systems the Bundeswehr desperately needs.
Rheinmetall, for example, is not only one of Europe’s largest makers of munitions, capable of producing up to 450,000 rounds of heavy artillery shells per year—a crucial capability even in a 21st-century war, as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine war has shown. The company has also developed a host of high-tech systems needed in a future high-intensity war. This includes the mobile Skyranger air defense system fitted onto a Boxer armored fighting vehicle, as well as a new main battle tank, the Panther KF51, which the company wants to sell to and even manufacture in Ukraine. Rheinmetall has also developed a whole family of autonomous ground vehicles that can be armed under its Mission Master program. A Rheinmetall subsidiary has also developed a precision loitering munition system, the HERO, which the Bundeswehr has not yet ordered.
When it comes to enhancing the Bundeswehr’s ability to conduct precision strikes, two German defense contractors are currently working with the German subsidiary of MBDA, the French-British-Italian missile-maker, on ground-based cruise missile and support systems. Their Joint Fire Support Missile will have a range of around 300 kilometers (about 186 miles) and may be procured by the Bundeswehr, but no contract has been signed.
Although the German defense bureaucracy has been slow, some modernization efforts are already going on. Rohde & Schwarz, an electronics group, is in the process of equipping the Bundeswehr with digitally encrypted communications, while Blackned is providing the technology for ground forces to link multiple platforms and weapons systems into battle networks. German artificial intelligence defense company Helsing has been working with the Bundeswehr to integrate existing platforms, such as armored vehicles, into AI-enabled battle networks to enhance their combat capabilities.
Furthermore, the Bundeswehr is also in the process of procuring a number of U.S.- and European-made systems, such as drones, fighter jets, transport planes, maritime patrol aircraft, helicopters, and anti-ship and land attack missiles, to meet its modernization demands. German companies are important component suppliers in all of these products. The Bundeswehr also funds a number of joint European research and development programs, including the Main Ground Combat System and the Future Combat Air System, both of which involve leading German defense companies.
If the potential to harness Germany’s world-class defense industry is there, Berlin is not exploiting it to the extent it could. There are four main obstacles holding back the German government and Bundeswehr.
The first obstacle remains money. Since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Germany’s political leadership has been eager to signal to allies and partners that it plans to take defense more seriously. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised to make the Bundeswehr the “best-equipped force in Europe” and meet NATO’s defense spending target of 2 percent of GDP. Germany’s land forces are currently using a special fund of 100 billion euros (about $107 billion) to procure new military hardware, including 35 F-35A fifth-generation combat aircraft. But given almost three decades of systematically starving the Bundeswehr, the fund will not suffice. To close capability gaps faster, the regular defense budget would need to be increased by about 20 percent to reach 60 billion euros annually, according to German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius. Yet current budget proposals cap German defense spending at 50.1 billion euros for the coming years—in essence, a shrinking budget given the currently strong impact of inflation.
Second, German defense companies have a capacity problem. They cannot sustain a fast scale-up of production. In part, this is because they often specialize in complex, multipurpose platforms whose production is not so easy to ramp up. There are supply chain challenges as well, including in semiconductors and some raw materials. Most importantly, however, Berlin has kept German defense companies on a tight leash. It has been excruciatingly slow to issue multiyear contracts, insists on repeated renegotiations, and now seems to expect that German companies prefinance the expansion of production lines without firm orders in place. The companies, understandably, have balked.
Third, there is a massive issue with red tape. The German government in general, but particularly the agency in charge of military procurement—the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology, and In-Service Support—is where defense programs usually go to die a slow, bureaucratic death. Bizarre examples are legion: German pilots have been waiting for a decade for new helmets, and the ground forces have been trying to replace faulty rifles since 2015. Procuring these items should not be rocket science.
Germany’s dysfunctional procurement bureaucracy also delayed signing a new contract for a much-needed mobile short-range air defense system. Obstacles include overly extensive specifications set by the Bundeswehr for individual systems and platforms, strict European Union rules on tenders, and political capriciousness where a change in government can overthrow procurement plans and cancel programs. Tenders also get canceled and reissued, leading to paralyzing legal battles. Reforms are currently underway. Last year, the government approved a new, simplified procurement procedure, and Pistorius replaced the procurement agency’s head to underline that he means business. The jury is still out on whether any of this will bring real change.
Fourth, a cultural shift needs to happen if Germany wants a modernized and combat-capable Bundeswehr. At the core of it has to be a new societal consensus that military force can be used for good in the world and to advance legitimate German national interests. This may prove difficult given the common perception among the German elite that war is a dirty business far beneath the Germans’ superior stage of moral and intellectual development—and better left to others. Indeed, the German political elite gets especially queasy about many of the modern battlefield technologies that are already defining the future of war, including uncrewed platforms such as combat drones and loitering munitions. Advances in AI will, at some point, make these platforms capable of relatively autonomous operations. If they want to live up to their promises of turning the Bundeswehr into a 21st-century fighting force, German policymakers will have to learn to be comfortable procuring and deploying armed, remotely piloted platforms and loitering munitions today—and embrace developments in battlefield autonomy. Right now, much of the public debate does not even distinguish between uncrewed and autonomous, conflating the two into one bucket of unpalatable technology.
For now, AI projects for the Bundeswehr are primarily related to so-called C4 (command, control, communications, and computers) or ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance). What is most urgently needed, however, is long-term financing of projects to team up humans and machines, which will be key to future military effectiveness. Autonomous ground vehicles, especially, could be a major new field for the German defense industry, which is traditionally strong in vehicle technology and production. There are some German defense firms already doing work in this area, but the lack of a clear German industrial policy on defense AI, as well as the country’s reluctance to embrace autonomy, is a major impediment.
This cultural reluctance could have concrete consequences for platforms already under development. For example, the platforms that will eventually emerge from Europe’s Main Ground Combat System and Future Combat Air System programs would likely be deployed by the Bundeswehr without their full technical potential for autonomy. This could endanger the lives of German soldiers, who will have to take over dangerous missions that other militaries might delegate to uncrewed vehicles. Disagreement over defense AI and lethal autonomy on the future battlefield also complicates German defense industry cooperation with other countries. Indeed, contractors such as France’s Thales and Britain’s BAE Systems could take advantage of Germany’s self-imposed constraints and gain market share in autonomous aerial and naval systems or autonomous/semi-autonomous precision-guided munitions. Germans will find it extremely challenging to overcome their reluctance to embrace platform autonomy and other aspects of defense AI, but failing to do so could have severe long-term consequences for the Bundeswehr’s ability to fight a high-intensity war in the coming decade.
As these challenges illustrate, it is not enough for a country like Germany to have the technological know-how and industrial base to deliver cutting-edge weapons if there are restrictions on how a military can profit from these capabilities. Of course, bureaucratic inertia, capacity problems, and financing issues are not unique to Germany. But a cultural aversion to military power is, and it continues to undermine the industry’s potential and future standing. Germany’s defense industry not only has the potential to play a larger role in modernizing the Bundeswehr, but it can play a similar role for other European militaries. It could, together with France, Britain, and other defense industrial powers, become Europe’s arsenal of democracy. For this to happen, however, the Zeitenwende announced by Scholz has to be more than just an intention for Germany to do more on defense. A real Zeitenwende in the minds of Germany’s leaders, opinion-makers, and society would need to occur.

There, that's marxism 101. Top material analysis. I wanna add something to it, if you'll follow my reasoning.
It might be discomforting to compare Israel and South Africa bc SA was a minority white settler colonialist regime which could have, if the ANC, the MK, Mandela etc. had put a bit more pressure on, been expelled like the FLN did with the French Algeria, leaving the country freer to determine a truly decolonized and socialist future (material conditions, errors and outside pressures didn't make that last for more than a few decades in Algeria, but that's another matter, and those few decades were incomparable progress for the Algerian people). Israel, by contrast, is a settler colonialist project of the US (but also Australia, Canada, Nazi Germany, etc) type: the ethnic cleansing one. The Israeli want a State of (preferably white) Zionist Jews, and this means continuous immigration, either of Western Jews or converts. That's why, for example, Israel does not allow gay marriage but recognizes those that happened in other countries. You'll see most Israelis holding 2-3 passports and relative citizenships. It doesn't just want bums, either, it wants professionals to work in its tech sector (one of the pillars, if not THE pillar, of its economy), and the bums can go swell the ranks of its proletariat so it can have a labor force thoroughly domesticated with the simple premise that "at least they're not treated as bad as Palestinians". Now you might think: wait, Leegend, whites helped the ANC too! The South African Communist Party was headed by a white man and helped Mandela! Yeah, but once again, whites were a minority in SA. This made it far easier for the SACP to put pressure on the white proletariat to realize their colonial nature and their "buffer" role in the settler colonialist project. Same in Algeria, with the role the PCA played. But already we have another key difference: the FLN won power through armed struggle and managed to get France to take most of the settlers back, and expropriated the bourgeoisie. The ANC cut a deal with SA's bourgeoisie to dismantle apartheid and get into government, renounced socialism, never expropriated the bourgeoisie, just tried to build a black one. Therefore, SA's white bourgeoisie continued to keep wielding its power among both the white proletariat and the black one. Israel is only able to keep disarticulating any revolutionary Palestinian movement inside its borders because there's a lot more Israelis than Palestinians, in there. Were it to annex Gaza and the West Bank before expelling all Palestinians or exterminating them, those demographics would reach parity, and then the efficacy of the repressive apparatus would crumble. The Communist Parti of Israel-Maki (which is one of the few legal parties in Israel to agitate for Palestinian statehood and is quite heavily repressed by the Israeli State) would be forced to stop advocating for a "non-racist Israel" and a two-state solution and "keeping calm" among Israel's Palestinian populace and either start organizing and advocating for anti-colonial revolution (be on the ANC or FLN lines) or be exposed as a reformist, collaborationist sham.
