“Nanamin! I didn’t think you would show up!”
Gojo’s tall form stood out in the crowd of the izakaya, sunglasses covering his abnormally bright eyes.
Nanami normally didn’t do this kind of thing. At least not as frequently as Gojo and his coworkers. But after the stressful week and being ‘forced’ by Yaga to participate in this last event to close out the summit, a whiskey (or three) seemed to be the only incentive for getting this night over with.
“I had no choice. And stop calling me that.” Nanami sat himself down at the large table that was already crowded with his coworkers.
Gojo slid a glass of liquid toward Nanami, the contents dark brown and the smell already hitting his nose with the promise of an escape.
“I got you the most expensive whiskey on the menu.”
He took a small sip, lifting an eyebrow in surprise as the Nikka whiskey hit his lips.
“Thank you.”
“Nanami, you’re looking exceptionally fed up tonight.”
Like Nanami and Gojo, Geto Suguru rose to the status of Director of Research and Competition within a few years of joining the company. He wasn’t as loud and annoying as Gojo, but for some reason they stuck together like glue. While he didn’t have the alien beauty like Gojo, he was unique in looks in his own way. An unusual purple hue painted his irises, sharper facial features, long black hair that was either half up or pulled back into a bun and bangs that never seemed to be in control. Geto didn’t have to loudly boast about his intelligence or prowess at work, his efforts spoke in the things he produced. And even though both him and Gojo were probably certifiably insane, Geto provided some sort of moral compass to Gojo that Nanami never really understood.
He gave Nanami a relaxed smile, eyes closing before he threw back a shot of sake.
“I know you’re probably fed up with this summit. Most of us are.”
“Something like that.”
“This entire week has been fucking annoying.” Gojo spoke around his straw before taking another long sip of what looked like a stawberry—most likely virgin—daiquiri. “Team building exercises don’t help your work improve if your IQ is already in hell.” Geto snickered, elbowing him playfully before turning his attention to people watch. “The branch from Sendai are the only ones who made it fun.”
“Do you even know their names besides Omelia’s?”
Even though Geto’s eyes were elsewhere, his comment still made Gojo choke on his drink, blue eyes blinking rapidly and cheeks flushing before he began arguing with his friend.
As they fought with one another, Nanami pulled in a long sigh, pressing the cold glass to his lips and taking another long gulp. The alcohol stung in a good way as it slid down his throat, soothing away his discontent and slowly providing a thin veil over his irritated nerves. More of their coworkers filtered into the izakaya, ordering drinks and yakitori and plunging the large table into a loud hum of socialization.
Shoko Ieiri, while not a coworker, was a lifelong friend of Geto’s and sat herself next to him and immediately began complaining about her day of work at her clinic. Her eyes held a naturally sleepy look to them, a permanent expression of boredom unless she was smoking a cigarette.
“Stop smacking me you fucker.” Geto’s naturally low and soft spoken voice chastised him around a chuckle. He fluffed Gojo’s hair, intentionally rough as he tried to fix the naturally messy snow white locks. Gojo whined, smacking his hands away. “Let me fix your hair. Omelia is coming over and you look like a whore.”
“Maybe she likes whores.”
Geto snorted, pulling off Gojo’s sunglasses.
“If she did, you would be with her by now.”
Nanami watched as you and Omelia walked into view. Shoko called for you immediately, pulling your body into the empty seat next to her and asking you a barrage of questions. Shoko was a physician and when she wasn’t at the clinic up the street from the office, she would eat with Geto and Gojo during her lunch breaks. You and her had formed a quick friendship and like everyone else in the office, seemed to be taken with you immediately.
The hum of the izakaya grew louder, salarymen and salarywomen filtering in from their long days at work and ready to start the weekend.
Yuji’s loud and playful voice called out to you as he took the last empty seat next to you, beating Omelia to the punch. Megumi sagged in the seat next to Nanami, offering a soft greeting before turning away to listen to Kugisaki ramble.
The fact that there were no more empty seats next to you was Gojo’s defense that he gave to Omelia which caused her to roll her eyes and sink into the chair next to him.
Yuji, as angelic and optimistic as ever, gazed at you innocently. Even at twenty-two, he held a childlike demeanor that could do no wrong no matter how ill someone treated him.
“You look so pretty, y/n!”
It wasn’t like he was incorrect. Your normally curly hair that was pulled into a low bun hung down your back, cascading over your shoulders and shining in the low light of the room. The long sleeve black dress accentuated your curves, a high slit on one side that exposed the creamy expanse of your brown leg. Dark brown eyes were touched with a simple wing of eyeliner, your full lips dressed in clear lip gloss.
The effect of everyone turning their heads to you at the office bled in the public eye as well.
Nanami took a large gulp of his whiskey, draining the contents and using the burn in his throat to look away from you. He flagged down a waiter for another.
This was going to be a long night.
He should have known that you would be trouble when he met you in the conference room that day. Everyone seemed to gravitate towards you in whatever way they could, trying to have you on their team during events at the summit, offering to have lunch with you, and even going out of their way to openly flirt. You didn’t seem to recognize the flirting, as it seemed the only thing you could think about was work.
That’s all you talked about was work. Creating brand messages, communicating about projects with other agencies and branches, wanting to spearhead almost every activity.
Trying so, so hard.
Just like the others who used this asinine week-long event as a means to move up the ranks. It wasn’t like it was bad to network and get one’s foot in the door. But in Nanami’s experience, almost everyone would use whatever they could just for a promotion. Year after year, a junior level associate would walk into his office with the same shy and reserved look on their face, uttering the same request to work alongside him to gain new experience.
He gave each of them a chance. If others could see his work as potential to learn more, he would do what he could to help them out.
But their secrets always unraveled eventually. Nanami may seem aloof to others, but he was far from it. As the only director in Marketing Operations who had a strong personal and professional relationship with the VP of the department, Nanami was the best route to make their way to Yaga.
One on one meetings with Nanami started out innocent, their eyes bright and ready to prove themselves. But within days those eyes gave way to their true nature; greed, deception, and lust.
I really think Masamichi-san would love this proposal I’ve been thinking about, would you be willing to give it to him?
I really think Masamichi-san would work well with our VP in Osaka. I can relay a few ideas to him if you schedule me in a meeting?
I’m free tonight, want to get dinner? I have some ideas that I really think Masamichi-san would like?
You look like no one has…taken care of you in a long time. You get me in a conference room with Masamichi-san and I’ll make it worth your time.
They were all the same and it came to a head last year. An associate from Nagoya who Yaga had insisted work with Nanami throughout the week, took pictures of documents on his desk when he was not looking. Weeks work of project planning. It was the first project that Yuji was allowed to take control of, and he so worked hard, poured himself into overtime almost every day to draft everything from his own hands. All those documents suddenly appeared slightly changed during companywide presentations before Yuji could officially release his work. All of his dedication, wasted. Nanami had no way of proving who it was without launching a full investigation that didn’t have definitive evidence. He wanted to. He was prepared to pick Nagoya apart. But Yuji insisted that it wasn’t worth it, that the fight meant nothing when he wasn’t even a full-time associate anyway. After watching Yuji’s confidence waver, Nanami vowed to never allow it to happen again. Would never let his guard down and give others a chance. He got to his position on his work and his work alone. Entertaining deceit would no longer be tolerated.
You were just like the rest when you walked into Nanami’s office that first day. Manicured hands clutching a manila folder of documents as you uttered the same words as everyone else year after year.
You were hesitant and shy, quiet in your own way as Nanami pulled up his walls to make you uncomfortable.
You didn’t take his words well, your face displaying a varying amount of emotions as you professionally called him out for his rudeness.
But the minute Nanami downgraded your prowess—a small offhanded comment insinuating you knew nothing—you were immediately angry. Those brown eyes were stormy with rage and disrespect as you told him off in what was possibly the most professional way he ever imagined.
Don’t look so put out.
Saying it twice doesn’t make you sound smarter.
You were curt and biting with your words, the sound of the door slamming only making Nanami gape openly at no one. His stomach had simmered with a feeling of regret, small enough to make him feel as if he had overstepped but not insistent enough to apologize.
This was better. To keep you away as much as possible and keep everyone out of Nanami’s hair.
The second glass of whiskey had Nanami’s body warm, the fuzziness of a nice buzz making his skin tingle. You were talking animatedly with Yuji, showing him memes on your phone that had him red in the face, his giggles echoing in the air.
“Nanamin!” Yuji called out to him, his body shaking around giggles. “Look at this meme! I know you don’t laugh much but I think even you would like this. Show him, y/n!”
You faltered, your small hand clutching your phone before you slid it to Nanami’s still form. His eyes lingered on you for a moment too long, your eyes catching his before they narrowed and you looked away. Nanami glanced at your phone, offering a small noise before you pulled your hand away.
You avoided talking to him for most of the night, choosing instead to socialize with Yuji and Shoko who were more than enough stimulation for even the shyest person. Despite your extroverted nature in the office, you were great at avoiding Nanami at every chance you could. Group activities had you on opposite teams, and when you did have to work together, you were exceptional at talking to everyone as if he didn’t exist.
Not that he cared. Someone who was only focused on work made no sense to him.
Nanami didn’t particularly like his job, but he was good at it and the pay was exceptional. It was the best chance for him to retire at an early age and enjoy the rest of his life in wealth and peace. But he was steadfast with his boundaries. Clock in at 8am, work hard throughout the day, and clock out no later than 5pm. No more and no less. Working overtime suited no one but the higherups who were relaxing at home while their colleagues slaved away in an office.
It was pointless to give all of one’s energy after the clock into something that no one would appreciate unless it was to make themselves look better.
You with your smiles and your wit, offering suggestions that went against the grain of normal routine drove Nanami insane. He refused to entertain proposals that targeted clients outside of what was discussed, going out of his way to openly oppose during summit events. He hated the thought of analyzing data that focused on something completely out of scope and was sure to vocalize that at every opportunity he could before even reading what you suggested. Your glares only fueled him, made him work harder to shoot your ideas down. Because every other person before you did the same thing and it never worked. It never fucking worked. You were completely turning things around.
But everyone ate it up, even Yaga who did nothing but shower you with praise.
It drove him mad and he couldn’t stand you for it.
It didn’t help that you looked the way you did; chocolate, creamy brown skin and deep brown eyes. Long curly hair and soft curves that filled out every outfit you were. It was maddening that the person who worked so hard for everyone else smelled like Black Opium when you walked through the halls. Your sharp and loud laugh should have made his ears bleed, but he hated how quickly his stomach clenched at the sound, fueling something he didn’t want to acknowledge.
A frustrating and unnecessarily hardworking woman wrapped in the most alluring body he had seen in a very long time.
God, he couldn’t stand you. And it was your presence that made Nanami drink harder.
After his fourth whiskey, Nanami had reached a point he swore to never be at again since his freshman year of college. Geto was more wild back then and because Gojo never drank, Geto compensated. One party, the only party Nanami decided to entertain and he was so drunk that he woke up naked in his bathtub.
He swore he wouldn’t do it again.
But the warm feeling in his veins was wrapping around him like a blanket, relaxing his normally stoic features and tinting his upper chinks pink. The heat of the room made him shed his jacket hours ago, his long sleeve shirt clung to his skin and showed off muscles he normally kept hidden during work.
You weren’t fairing any better, the heat making you pull your long curls atop of your head into a messy bun. Too many shots of sake had you laughing throughout the night with Yuji and Shoko, your own cheeks a slight color darker from the effects of alcohol.
“You’re so smart, y/n!” Yuji had sputtered the same compliment for the millionth time that night, his hands nursing a water that Megumi had forced him to have. “You re-remind me of Nanamin. He taught me ‘verything I know.” Your features softened as you rubbed Yuji’s back before forcing more water down his throat. “But Nanamin, you need to listen to y/n’s ideas. Sh-she’s damn smart. I wish she was at our br-branch.”
“I’ve heard all of her ideas, Yuji.” Nanami’s voice was loose, his normal title of Itadori-kun gone after his second glass of whiskey.
“And you don’t like them!” Yuji’s blubbered at Nanami; his eyelids heavy as he pointed an empty chicken skewer in his direction.
“You’re right, Yuji. I don’t.” Nanami watched as your drunken expression morphed into anger. “Reworking a system that has been nothing but efficient makes no sense, wastes resources, and does nothing for no one.” He picked up his glass, languidly sipping on his drink as he watched your expression grow darker and darker. “I don’t mean to hurt your feelings. I’m sure you worked very hard trying to assert yourself this week. Yaga definitely noticed.”
“Nanamin!”
You clutched your glass of water, small fingers flexing and contemplating dumping the contents onto Nanami’s face. But instead you stood up abruptly, alarming everyone at the table before collecting your purse and storming from the izakaya.
Nanami sighed deeply, finishing the contents of his glass as Yuji fussed at him.
The cold air from outside brought a small shock to your system as you stumbled into an alley behind the izakaya. You were drunk. Incredibly and uncharacteristically drunk and the brick wall you slumped into seemed to provide stable ground for your vision to stop swimming.
You shouldn’t have drunk that much, especially around so many people you weren’t familiar with and Omelia across the table who was unable to scold you into sobriety.
But being across from Nanami, watching him talk casually with Megumi, Shoko, and Yuji only made you angry. Because while his tongue loosened and his serious expression melted away into relaxation, you only thought about day after day of his snide remarks. Of his offhanded comments that slid off of you around everyone else but hurt to a degree that made your eyes sting. They were simple suggestions, but still suggestions you had spent months analyzing and putting together with Jin. You worked hard and hoped to make an impression during the summit and everyone else loved what you brought. But not him. And it was hard to get anything rolling if one of the most important associates in the room disagreed.
Fucking Nanami Kento with his perfectly combed hair, odd glasses and sharp features that had your stomach curling in arousal and distaste.
You had never felt more stupid than when he was in the room. And he was a crush?
God you needed therapy.
The anger simmered in your gut as you tried to get your thoughts in order, your mind swimming.
The hotel was only a block away, walking could sober you up a little and spare you the pain of having to see anyone else’s face to ask for a ride. But you needed to text Ome. You opened your purse, reaching inside to fish for your phone before the strap slipped from your fingers and your purse spilled its contents on the cold and wet ground.
“Fuck!”
You wobbled onto your knees, your dress getting wet as you drunkenly fumbled for the contents that were askew on the ground.
You worked so hard. So fucking hard. And the one person you thought would be even minutely impressed had been nothing but cold, heartless, and so very mean. So unnecessarily mean.
Your lip began to wobble, eyes filling with tears and chest clenching tight as you willed the feeling to go away. Just get to the hotel. Lock yourself in your room, stagger into a hot bath, sob into the sheets and worry about the hangover later.
Your favorite tube of lipstick rolled away from you, skittering on the uneven pavement as you pressed further on your knees and fumbled to grab it.
Your blood ran cold as a large pale hand reached down to grab it instead.
“What are you doing?”
You tried to ignore the butterflies in your stomach from the deep timbre in his voice, snatching the lipstick from him.
“Do you care?”
You struggled onto your feet, ignoring the hand outstretched to help you as you sagged against the wall behind you. He didn’t speak, looking down at you with an expression you couldn’t quite place. His usual perfectly parted hair was slightly ruffled, a few strands falling in front of his face and adding a roughness you wished didn’t affect you. He had forgone the glasses for tonight, giving you a clear view of brown eyes, which didn’t help because it only made his face more real, more mystifying and more handsome.
Your stomach did another flip, unsettling you to a degree that had your mind scrambling. You made a mental note to call a psychiatrist as soon as you landed in Sendai.
“Like I said, I didn’t mean to upset you.”
Pulling in a slow breath, you glared at him harder, hoping to convey that even in your drunken stupor you would smack him in the face if you needed to.
“What do you want, Nanami?”
He didn’t remark on your anger, choosing instead to gesture to the door behind him.
“You should come back inside. It’s cold out here.”
You scoffed, the desire to slap him growing more incessant by the second.
“Why? So you can make it seem like you apologized? Make Yuji feel better so you can go to bed tonight with a guilt free conscience? I don’t want you offering me half-assed help to make yourself feel better.” His eyes narrowed, foggy irises melting slowly. “You don’t know anything about me. You haven’t tried to learn anything about me, and you’ve been nothing but rude and nasty to me at every opportunity.”
He walked closer, tall form encroaching your space that made you press your back against the wall. The rapid beating of your heart was pounding in your ears as you refrained from showing any sign of want.
“Why do you care so much about my opinion?”
“I—” You opened your mouth to retort, falling short as your foggy mind tried to formulate a sentence to throw him off.
Because he’s the most efficient and hardworking man you have ever met.
Because you’ve climbed the ranks with no help at all and you would give anything to gain experience from him.
Because he's hot as hell.
He sighed heavily, a large hand pressing against the wall behind you, towering over your form as he looked down at you. You were used to his stiff stature, clipped responses and stoic demeanor. But right now…right now Nanami was radiating something that made your core clench. You pressed your thighs together, doing everything you could to stave off the arousal that was flaring dangerously. The alcohol wasn’t helping, you could have easily shot him another crude remark and walked the other way.
“You’re drunk.” You tried to slow your breathing as you spoke, heart rate soaring as the subtle hint of cologne wafted up your nose from his body. God what scent was that? Not too strong, but potent enough to notice the warmth pulsing between your legs.
“So are you.”
“You’re a piece of shit.” You cursed inwardly as the words slipped from your mouth, drunk and loose and angry at his unwillingness to just…apologize. “This entire week has been hell because you’re fucking stubborn and you would rather do the same thing over and over than give new things a chance.” He lifted an eyebrow in response.
“Is that all?”
“Well—” You swallowed loudly, fingers digging into the brick wall behind you as you felt him lean in closer, his cologne slowly making you delirious with lust and more drunk than you already were. Maybe he had come to his senses and would be ready to apologize and beg for your forgiveness. That would be more than enough, and you could go back to Sendai to lick your wounds in peace.
The press of his lips against yours, however, was so much better. You should have pushed him away, slapped him in the face for using short words to worm his way further into your wet dreams. But it was hard to even think about that when muscular arms wrapped around your waist, pulling you flush to his chest and overwhelming you with his smell. You curled your hands into his chest, the soft fabric bunching between your fingers as you felt the hard planes of his chest and pulled him impossibly closer to you.
Just one kiss. One fucking kiss and you could pull away, slap the shit out of him, and stumble home.
But the feel of Nanami biting your bottom lip, prying your mouth open with his full lips before sliding his tongue into your mouth had you shaking out a whimper you should have been ashamed of.
This was much, much better

So, tomorrow morning I'm going to put on my big boy pants and I'm going to go to Mass and I'm going to stand up, sit down, repeat every single damn prayer because those are burned in the back of my memory and I cannot forget them not even when they legally change them all, and I'm going to fucking sing along when I'll have too. And probably I'm going to spend all the omelia trying to get the kids to stay quieter for a little longer, just to make everybody happy and I'm going to try not to be too much of a drama queen about the whole ordeal. Even when I could have used that 45 minutes to watch Arcane or do absolutely anything else in my life.
But it's for the team, for the kids and to avoid having to spend another year listening to that man yapping away about the one time they asked me to go to church and I didn't.

Perfect Family - Halloween Day
Heyy Omelia-Fans :-) I hope you all are doing well! Here's a new fanfiction about the Omelia-Family. I had to write this on my phone, so I’m sorry, if the layout is a little strange. But I hope you'll like it!
„Good Morning.“, Owen greeted Leo, when he showed up in the kitchen. „Morning dad.“, his son answered and yawned. „I made French toast.“, Owen winked at him and Leo grabbed his plate immediately. He loved his dad‘s French toast, but often Owen didn‘t have the time to prepare it. But today was Halloween and Owen and Amelia didn’t have to go to work and also the kids were at home. So they would have the whole day together. They had decided to carve pumpkins and in the evening Meredith and Maggie would come for dinner.
Since Owen knew that Amelia and Evie would get up late,he and Leo had their breakfast together. And as he had suspected, Amelia entered the kitchen at 11am with Evie in her arms. „Look who‘s here.“, Owen teased them but earned an evil eye from his daughter. „Okay, we’re not in a good mood today. At least your evil face goes well with Halloween.“, he noticed, but his daughter didn’t answer. Amelia put her on her chair, where she rested her head on her hands rebelliously. „I slammed the door accidentally and she woke up.“, Amelia explained. „Oh that was that noise.“, Owen replied and laughed a little, „I thought Poltergeist would have payed us a visit.“ But it explained Evie’s behavior. She was really grumpy when she was woken up. When she had to go to the kindergarten, that was a big problem, because Owen and Amelia didn’t have the time for her complaining. But today they were able to cheer her up with Owen‘s French toast. „Why can’t you make it every morning?“, Amelia asked her husband. Owen raised his eyebrows and grinned. „If you want me to get up at 4 every morning. But then I won’t be available at night.“, he whispered into her ear. Amelia tilted her head. „Convinced.“, she said, „Don’t make the French toast.“ Owen laughed. „Then you can enjoy this all the more.“, he winked.
„Soo... are you ready to carve pumpkins for Halloween?“, Amelia asked when the breakfast table was cleaned up. „Yes!“, Leo and Evie answered excited. „Okay, I’ll get the pumpkins.“, Owen said. 2 minutes later he came back with two big pumpkins and put them on the table. „So I would say that I help Evie and you Leo?“, Amelia proposed. „Yes, come here daddy.“, Leo called to him. „Let’s compete. The team, which finishes the pumpkin first, wins.“, Evie suggested. „Okay. Come on Leo we’re gonna do this!“, Owen said. Amelia raised her eyebrow and looked at Evie. „They think they’re going to win, but they’re so wrong“, she smirked and Evie nodded affirmatively. They started to hollow out the pumpkin and when Owen and Leo finished, Owen grabbed a knife. „Wait, we wanted to use this knife.“, Amelia stopped him. „What, why?“, Owen replied. „Because it’s the best one for this.“, Amelia said and folded her arms. „That’s not true, we have thousands of other good knives.“, Owen stated. „Fine, then give it to me. You can take another knife.“, Amelia said and held her hand out. „Don’t be childish.“, Owen answered and began to carve a mouth into the pumpkin. „Ha, you know that this is the best knife and you took it, so that you can win! That’s so unfair!“, Amelia complained. „I think that you just want to distract me and Leo!“, Owen countered annoyed. „Mommy, we don’t need this knife, let’s continue.“, Evie said, which made Owen laugh. „And I thought that Evie was the most stubborn member of this family.“ Reluctantly, Amelia gave in and took another knife.
„Daddy, I messed up the eye!“, Leo told Owen. „Oh, let’s see what we can do.“, Owen said and helped his son. „Now he looks really wicked, but it’s Halloween, right?“, he stated after they had corrected the eye. „We can name him Jafar. Like the villain in Aladdin.“, Leo answered. Meanwhile, Amelia and Evie finished the mouth of their pumpkin face. „We need a name, too.“, Evie said then. „Yeah, but let’s finish the face first. We want to win, right?“, Amelia replied and Evie nodded. But in this moment she didn’t look at the knife in her hand and cut her finger. When she saw the blood, she began to cry immediately. „Oh no, let me see.“, Amelia said and examined her daughter’s finger. Also Owen stopped to carve the pumpkin. „It‘s okay, it’s not a deep cut.“, Amelia tried to calm her down. „It hurts.“, Evie sobbed. Amelia stroked her head. „I know... it will pass soon.“ „I‘m gonna get a patch for you. With unicorns, who will make the pain disappear.“, Owen said compassionately and rushed to the bathroom. He came back after a few seconds and put the patch on Evie‘s finger. „Is it better now?“, he asked and Evie nodded. „Can we continue?“, she said then. Owen and Amelia smiled. „Of course.“ „But you have to carve the pumpkin, mommy.“, Evie instructed her mother, who nodded. She grabbed Owen‘s knife on the other side of the table. „I should’ve known this!“, Owen said amused and shook his head. „Hey, don’t complain, you two have almost finished your face!“, Amelia said. „Fine. You know that we will win. You cannot catch up with us.“, Owen grinned. „We’ll see.“, Amelia answered.
„Done!“, Leo exclaimed after some minutes. Amelia raised her head and looked at the Owen’s and Leo’s pumpkin face. She grimaced and continued with Evie‘s and her pumpkin. „What?!“, Owen asked. „I didn’t say anything.“, Amelia answered.
„You made a face.“, he replied.
„I didn’t.“
„You did!“
„He looks creepy.“
„It’s Halloween!“
„It’s Jafar.“, Leo said proudly.
„You are distracting me!“, Amelia rolled her eyes. „But...we’re...Done!“, she added while she made the last cut. „Show me.“, Leo said and Amelia turned the pumpkin around. „He doesn’t look that evil.“, Leo noticed. „It’s a her.“, Evie corrected him. „She looks...great.“, Owen admitted. „Made by the hands of a neurosurgeon. No surprise.“, Amelia stated folding her arms. „But we won anyway. We were faster.“, Owen said and smirked. „Let’s say both teams won. Our face was more difficult.“ , Amelia suggested. „You just can’t lose.“, Owen replied amused. Amelia pouted her lips and stood up. „I’m gonna get two candles for the pumpkins.“, she said. „Can I light them?“, Leo asked. „Okay but be careful.“, Amelia answered. When the candles were lit, Owen turned off the lights and the two bright pumpkin faces stared at them. „Wow“, Evie said. „We did a good job.“, Amelia smiled and Owen sidled up to her. „They fit together well.“, he noticed. „Let’s put them outside.“, Leo said. „Alright. And then I have to set the table for the dinner.“, Amelia stated. Fortunately she didn’t have to cook, because that was Maggie’s task. When everything was prepared for the evening, they waited for Meredith and Maggie to come. Punctually at 7pm the doorbell rang and Leo and Evie rushed to the door to open it. „Auntie Meredith, auntie Maggie!“, they exclaimed. „Hello“, they greeted them back. „Who made this pumpkins, they look great!“, Meredith asked. „We did them all together“, Leo said proudly. „Come in.“, Amelia said and Maggie put the dinner on the table. „Are you ready for spider-burgers and mummy-meatballs?“, she asked. The kids grimaced but nodded. „I’m starving.“, Owen said, „let’s eat.“
After everyone had finished his dinner and a lot of scary stories had been told, it was time for Leo and Evie to go to bed. Also Maggie and Meredith wanted to get home, so they said goodbye.
„I want to sleep in your bed.“, Evie said to her parents. „Sweetie, you know that we have to get up early tomorrow...“, Owen replied. „But what if a wicked Witch or a ghost comes into my room.“, Evie insisted. „They won’t.“, Amelia told her, but her daughter wasn’t convinced. „You can sleep in my bed. I’ll protect you!“, Leo offered her and Evie nodded. „Fine. Let’s go and get ready for bed.“, Amelia said. When Evie and Leo laid in Leo’s bed, Owen and Amelia came in. „Have you brushed your teeth, are yourpajamas on?“, Amelia asked. Leo and Evie nodded. „Very good. We love you both!“ „We love you too!“, the kids answered. Then Amelia gave them a kiss on their foreheads and Owen whispered: „Sleep well. And don’t forget to check the room for monsters.

Grey’s S15
So... I pranked myself like I always do, and I decided to do a mini grey’s rewatch of seasons 12-15. To be completely honest, I didn’t watch season 13 or 14 entirely, and I wanted to understand this past season better. (I lowkey also wanted to see Deluca’s character development b/c I want to understand the man that Mer just said ‘I love you’ to). So here is a review of Grey’s S15, what I hope to see in S16, a rant on some comments I have seen on the internet about. I just need to let my thoughts out.
First of all, I am a big Grey’s Anatomy fan. Although I roll my eyes every time I say it's been running this long, this show has a special place in my heart. I started watching the show during my formative years, Cristina Yang basically raised my teenage self. I started in middle school, and now we are here, a year away from graduating my undergrad at UofT. I don’t want to discredit the amazing women that raised me, but I also don’t want to not mention Shondaland and its influence on who I am today. Overall, Grey’s is kind of like my bible, I rewatch it every time I need to feel comfortable, validated, and reasonable. Its storytelling has allowed me to understand so many things, such as addiction (s/o to Private Practice and Amelia Shepherd), family issues, loyalty, love, empowerment. Its most important lesson is that life goes on. No matter how hard it gets, it just keeps going, and that's the beauty of it. We all can take whatever it throws at us, and come on the other side, stronger and wiser. I hate it when people say that they miss the old Grey's, that they miss Derek or Cristina. It’s all very valid, I miss them too. However, that is life, people die, people move across the globe, and you just have to deal with that and move forward.
I really enjoyed this season because of its attention to detail. I know this sounds very odd, but, after watching S12, 13, and 14, I feel that this season was packed with references. It mostly stayed true to the characters' storylines and amended some plot holes from previous seasons. I love that the Mer-Tatcher storyline had a conclusion, I always wondered what happened to him after Lexie died.  I also enjoyed meeting Alex’s mom, she is honestly a sweetheart. Benley’s story was so exciting, I am never concerned about them because they are perfect, but it is good to see them going through hard times. They brought back Teddy, which allowed Owen’s character to move forward. I loved that they gave Amelia a chance, we got a better explanation of why her family was not there, and her story became full-circle. There is more reference to the Mer’s kids, making us remember that she is a mom LOL. Finally, although he is a more recent character, I love Schmidt so much. He cracks me up, and his story is so underrated.
In this part, I will focus more on my favorite characters of the show and what I liked about them this season:
Meredith: I have to admit, I always thought I was Cristina Yang, but the more I reflect on this, the more I realize that I am more of a Meredith Grey. I am so proud of how far she has come, professionally and emotionally. She is a warrior. I love how happy she is this season. It's partly because of her new relationship, but also she is very stable now, with her kids, her award, her friendships. She is always working really hard to be a better person, and it takes a courageous person to admit that you need to improve and actually doing the work to be better. She understands her past and moves forward, motivating the people that love her the most to do the same thing. She has changed, for good. And, people may say that she is not the Meredith Grey she was in season 1, and I say that this is a good thing. She has grown up and learned from her mistakes (some of them, she was still afraid of I love you’s and committed insurance fraud, but some things don’t change lol). Cece was such a central character for her storyline, I loved how she allowed her to believe in herself and in life-after-love (yes, this is a Cher reference), which is why Merluca is a thing now. I high-key believe that Cece intentionally created the Link-Andrew-Meredith love triangle for Deluca to step up his game and show her how much she wants to be with her. After all, Cece was there when they talked about the kiss, she saw something, and finessed her way into making it a reality. I can’t help but smile at the fact that Mer is smiling like a teenager again, it fills my heart. I too loved Derek, but he died. That happens, it sucks. But, Mer has every right to move on and fall in love again. She deserves finding love again.
Alex: Alex as chief was my favorite thing this season. I love how he just got the job randomly, but this job allowed him to prove himself what he is capable of. Don’t get me wrong, I love Bailey as chief, but we all knew that she was going to be a great chief someday. I always root for the underdog, and in this particular situation, he was the underdog. My favorite part is when Bailey and Weber realized how good he was at the job because he understands that delegating is a thing (lol). I liked meeting his mom, that storyline just re-states how pure he is. I love how he doesn’t realize that Merluca is a thing, he is just completely oblivious. It broke my heart to see him freaking out about Jo because it made me realize how much Izzie scared him. He is the Most Improved Character of the show. Period.
Amelia: I love Amelia so much. She is often very misunderstood by some fans, but you all need to watch private practice to understand her better. I liked this season because it made justice to her and her journey. We learned a bit more about Christopher. We saw her being a mom with both Betty and Leo. We saw her helping Betty through her addiction. We saw her standing up for herself and end a relationship that had become very toxic. We saw her talk to her family and, more importantly, talk to her mom. We saw her rise above her love for Owen and let him be happy with Teddy. She has grown so much and this season allowed her to do that, which I am very grateful for. After rewatching S15, I now am a full Amelink stan. I love how they start their first significant interaction with Link word-vomiting his feeling about the overdose wave. He talks a lot, just like her, and he is willing to listen to her talking. One reason why Omelia didn’t work out was that Owen didn’t talk and Amelia felt that she shouldn’t talk either, leading to significant miscommunications. I also love that Link understands addiction a bit better than Owen, which is already a sign that this relationship has potential. I loved Omelia, they had a very awkward, sometimes funny, sometimes dark relationship and helped each other in very dark moments. They did love each other, in their own twisty way. However, I think that it kind of became an addiction for them to be together despite all the red flags, which is not healthy.
Jackson: I love Jackson, he has such a big heart. Kind of salty about Japril not being endgame, but we gotta move on. I loved how supportive he was with Catherine during the tumor surgery, their chemistry is so good. Like. It’s hard for me to believe that they are not actually mother and son. I love that he is a high-key Merluca shipper and how much he respects Richard Webber. I hope he doesn't die.
Deluca: OK... so I just going to say that I want him to be in peds so bad, he is the SOFTEST character atm, I am in love. He has also grown this season. I think its partly because the writers want us to believe he has now that he is dating THE Meredith Grey, but we stan this evolution. People always complain about how he didn’t want to date Maggie b/c she was his boss, and I would like to disagree with that to an extent. Yeah... the problem was that she was his boss, but the main issue was because he was afraid of the favoring situation, meaning that he didn’t love Maggie because was not willing to put up with what others would think about them. Sigh. Anyways... I enjoy how much depth his character is getting, learning about his family was important because we now understand the difficulties he has faced. He has shown that he is no longer an intern. I cringe every time people try to invalidate his character by pointing out how immature he was. No one on Grey’s is their intern self. Look at Alex, Mer, Bailey, SCHMIDT... everyone has grown out of their intern mistakes, so why should we just bring up Andrew’s to justify why Merluca shouldn’t be a thing? (and so what if he is not as mature as Mer? Mer wasn’t as “mature” as Derek, and no one batted an eye... double standards am I right?). The being beaten up by Alex storyline really shook him. He did say some irrational things, but how are you supposed to be 100% rational when you went through a very untenable situation? He deserves the benefit of the doubt and a second chance. Don’t tell me you all have never said impulsive things or had inappropriate crushes. Smh.
What I want to see in S16
Meredith in jail and her village supporting her.
Jo and Alex dealing with Jo’s depression in a compassionate and empowering way.
Teddy and Owen being parents and being in love.
I want a Towen wedding, just because I want everyone to look pretty AF.
Owen and Amelia being good friends. As much as I think Omelia is no longer a viable love relationship, I really like their chemistry, and I would like to see them becoming good friends.
Merluca being domestic with the kids and talking about their past. I want Mer to tell him about her losses, her feelings, her fears. I want them to talk about the age difference in a positive way. I honestly don’t see Mer getting pregnant, but like I always think about Ben and Bailey and how Ben just became Tuck’s dad and he loves him like his own son. I can see Andrew loving Mer’s kids in that way.
Andrew choosing peds and Alex mentoring him, just like Arizona. Team Peds 2.0?
I want to see Carina more, more insight into her character. She is always someone’s lover or just Andrew’s sister, but we don’t get to see her by herself.
Andrew just dealing with the sister trifecta. I want funny, light, comic relief interactions.
Knowing where the fuck Jackson is. I am ready to see him go, but I am also not prepared to see him go.

15x11: Subtle Brilliance
I might be in the minority here, but I really loved 15x11. Absolutely loved it. I thought it had a beautiful way of subtly showcasing the characters’ personalities and vulnerabilities, particularly Amelia and Tom. So without further ado, here’s my deep dive. Thanks to @omeliasource for allowing me to use their YouTube clips in this post.
youtube
This was the first scene that I really loved. It was such a lovely, in-character way of handling the nerves for Amelia and Tom. This was the beginning of this episode’s exploration of Tom’s “arrogance” and what function it really serves in his life. The way he openly acknowledged that he was failing to achieve his usual level of outward cockiness illustrated how much he relies on this for coping with stress and anxiety. He is an extremely talented surgeon who knows how skilled he is, so in most procedures, he probably is very confident that he will achieve a good outcome. However, just like anybody else, he experiences nervousness and doubt. His chosen way of handling that is to present a facade of over-the-top confidence that convinces everyone around him that he thinks he can do anything. When he steps into that character, it’s a signal to his brain that it’s time to push aside the nerves and perform. In this scene, we see the first failure of his air of over-confidence to pull him out of his emotions.
Then we have the part about Amelia’s rambling. The fact that Tom even suggests it shows two things: that he understands Amelia well and that he affirms her ways of working through intrusive thoughts and emotions. He says it so casually, but it has so much meaning behind it. This is one of the things I love most about Tom’s character: that he conveys such deep and meaningful messages in understated ways. In a show that often deals heavily in long-winded, passionate rants, it’s nice to also see meaning presented more subtly. I enjoy the tear-filled monologues as much as the next Grey’s fan, but it’s just not realistic to have all of the moments of revelation come in such spectacular fashion. Most often, life reveals poignancy to us in the form of seemingly mundane words and actions. Capturing that well is where the art of film and television goes from good to great.
Lastly, I loved how Tom’s “Amelia word vomit” starts out as an expression of concern about the men whose penises won’t be saved if they don’t succeed in Catherine’s surgery. This is something Tom and Amelia share: a tendency to deflect tough situations and emotions by cracking a joke or saying something crass. Amelia calls him on it, and then he gives us a glimpse of where his thoughts are really at. This was a lovely scene from start to finish.
youtube
“Could you call it something else?” “Like what?” “Literally anything else.” That exchange had me rolling. Amelia and Tom’s banter is legendary, and that alone is reason enough for me to want Tom to become a permanent member of the cast.
The conversation in the last minute of this clip was fascinating. The way they communicated was so uniquely them. They were talking rapidly and in a way that would make seemingly no sense to an uninformed bystander, but yet nobody batted an eye. I think this speaks to the camaraderie and understanding between everyone at Grey-Sloan. They understand each other, and they understand the relationships their coworkers have with each other. Everybody knows how Tom and Amelia work, and they all trust and respect them enough to step back and let them work through things in the ways that work for them. Amelia’s final remark, “For the record, I do not like you,” was also a brilliant inclusion. It was a way that was unique to their style of communication to say: “I know you’re right, but I hate that this is the only way.” It was the perfect way to say many things with few words as well as keep from saying things that shouldn’t be said in front of Catherine’s friends and family. But more on that later.
youtube
This was my favorite scene in the entire episode. I word-vomited to @omeliathehurricane about it last night. This was the best example in the show of doing so much in small ways. For the first time, we seem Tom Koracick falter heavily. He saw Catherine’s face and struggled to continue with the procedure. Amelia had the most perfect response for so many reasons. It was a way around the issue to allow them to continue with the procedure. But it was more than that. She knows exactly how Tom’s mind works, so she knew that the best way to bring him back into himself was to simultaneously remove him from the difficult moment and give him an opportunity to pull out his arrogance as a way to quell his doubts and emotions and move forward. She respected his coping mechanism and subtly gave him a way in which to utilize it.
But her handling of that situation was merciful to more than just Tom. She was also looking out for every other member of the surgical team. Everyone knew that the stakes were high and the procedure would be difficult. If the nurses, scrub techs, anesthesiologist, etc. knew that the surgeons were having difficulty even moving forward with the procedure, that would introduce a whole new level of stress into the room. Amelia found a way to draw attention away from Tom’s struggles and protect the rest of the surgical team. She also protected Bailey and Webber. Her quick and discreet way of dealing with the issue kept it from being visible in the gallery. If Bailey and Webber had detected Tom’s difficulty, the whole situation could have devolved and gone down one of many not-so-good paths. Amelia was faced with a potentially massive problem that could’ve created a domino effect of issues, but she was able to come up with the optimal solution within seconds. That short little exchange showcased her ingenuity, her emotional intelligence, her understanding of the people who she cares about, and her ability to see the whole picture. This was an incredible example of a small, easily missable moment that contained a massive amount of nuance and meaning.
youtube
“To be present enough to have felt every terrifying, exhilarating, imperfect moment.” That is such an important note. Life rarely gives you moments of pure perfection. On rare occasions it does. And when it does, you should hold onto those moments and savor every second. But if the only moments you can appreciate are the perfect ones, you’re going to go through life chasing a high that you’ll never find. The key to living a fulfilled life is to find and embrace the beauty in imperfect moments. Moments that are challenging and heartbreaking and not the way you pictured them, but are nonetheless filled with wonder and joy. Amelia encapsulated that so well here, and it really resonated with my own personal experiences of finding joy and hope.
I’m so glad Richard was there too. There’s the obvious connection that he is Catherine’s husband, but to me, that’s not the biggest message from his presence at this meeting. He was there with Amelia in the moments when she was struggling to find that beauty in imperfection, so it seems rather fitting that he was there when she fully embraced and appreciated it.
Okay, I think that’s about it for my extremely long-winded thoughts on this episode. As you can tell, I loved it, and I found it deeply thought-provoking. Yes, it didn’t have any Omelia in it, but that’s okay with me. I love Omelia, but I also love Owen and Amelia each individually, and I love exploring relationships they have with other people and aspects of their characters that are showcased outside of their relationship with each other. This was an amazing episode that beautifully showcased the relationship between Amelia and Tom as well as many aspects of each of their personalities. Caterina and Greg did breathtaking work bringing the subtleties of this episode to life.

Omelia in every Grey’s Anatomy episode
14.03 Go Big Or Go Home
So, how do we do it? How do we save lives when ours may be falling apart? Well, for one thing, we never perform surgery without an assist. We look at the case, we gather the team, and accept we don't have to go it alone.

I don't trust KV too that's why I believe Omelia are done for good.
I have never trusted anything she has said, but even though she is the showrunner there is also a team of writers that help decide the direction of the show. I am remaining hopeful for Omelia

Was there anything with the B team in the preview for the next episode?
noope. ctv didn’t give a preview for us canadians last night unfortunately. and i see that the promo is out and as usual, it’s about merluca and omelia/betty/britney
i do sometimes wonder what the general public thinks: are they really into the whole deluca/meredith/link triangle or omelia? i personally am way more interested in the betty situation than merlunca (unless it actually turns into merlinca then i am IN).

Grey’s Anatomy 14x13 Final Thoughts
Oh my goodness, what was that?
was anyone else…uncaptivated by that episode? Honestly, there was something missing that is essential to a typical Grey’s episode, and although I don’t know what it was, I could definitely feel the difference tonight. A lot of this is going to be ranting, so feel free to just scroll to the end for the things I liked :) Let’s get started.
First of all, April. The writers just can’t help themselves when it comes to not giving us any info about this girl, can they? Nearly everything we saw was through someone else’s position -- Jackson and/or Arizona’s.  Two episodes ago, I never thought that her storyline would end up…like this. I wanted it to be more central, more explored, just, more than what it is right now, which is a random hodgepodge of scenes that are totally out of character and don’t seem to play any role except collectively raising the blood pressure of anyone who ever cared about this girl. As for April herself, how on Earth did she not notice her boss, the chief resident, and the most talkative intern ever running around the hospital trying to arrange a deal with an old man in Mexico? And coming to work drunk isn’t just out of character, it’s plain dangerous. And where the hell is Owen through all of this? Not only is he her boss, but he’s also a very close, older-brother-like figure to her and he should have noticed something as well. Grey’s isn’t exactly known for its continuation, but this is a really big mess.
On the other hand, I’m glad Jackson is trying to help April and trying to be there for her. It’s obvious he cares about her a lot, and it’s very sweet. As for Arizona, this girl is coming out to be a terrible friend holy shit. Last season she ruined her relationship with Webber (for a very annoying character at that), and now she’s pushing April away and ignoring the signs that her “best friend” may be at the point of no return. She did seem to wake up in the last scene or so, but that’s no excuse for how she’s been treating April. She should have realized this sooner.
The other huge problem with this episode was Ben Warren. The “I switched jobs and now I want to go back” thing is really, really overdone. The first 2 times he tried to sneak in to see his patient, I put up with it. After that…well, it got old, quickly. I must confess that I didn’t watch the final scene with Ben and Bailey because that man was driving me up the wall for an hour and I couldn’t handle any more of his idiocracy. I was super pumped for Station 19, but if this is going to be a huge plot point, I’m not sure I’ll even watch.
There were other little bits of things this episode could have definitely done without: Koracick, for one, did not have to be such an ass -- he is a doctor after all, and also had no right to treat Alex the way he did all episode. Hellmouth is getting more and more “ugh” each episode. Qadri removing her Hijab to close a wound was actually a nice scene, but her final scene where she puts it back on in public was in poor taste -- although I am not Muslim, my best friend is, and she mentioned that she has to observe Hijab around any males, except for relatives… I’m pretty sure that ER was full of men, and Dahlia wasn’t trying to save a life or anything at that moment. Also, that Jolex scene was a little random and slightly weird. Maggie didn’t seem to have any real purpose this ep except to make Jackson jealous. And besides Amelia/Alex and Meredith/Jo, where are all the other contest participants with their work? Are they (esp. Carina, who didn’t even make an appearance today) proceeding well? Finally, the whole emergency-worker-has-arm-in-body-cavity-and-now-gets-to-go-into-the-OR thing was done ages ago. Did the writers really think we wouldn’t notice? And if it was intentional, then they really should have had some flashback dialogue or something to connect the two eps. Seriously.
There were some nice things about this episode though :) For starters, I loved seeing all the children again (since when was Ellis so big??? And Harriet is freaking adorable omg). Herrera was quite badass and she and Mer make a good team. I can never get enough of Bailey putting her colleagues in their places, and I’m glad she’s back to her usual self! Alex and Amelia are developing a really close friendship, and I like seeing them bonding -- both of them obviously care for Kimmie a lot, and I’m glad they’re sticking up for her even without proper funding.
As for the preview for next episode, I’m not looking forward to the Jaggie bits, but I am wondering if Mer will get a new love interest (😏) given her lines in the preview, what the new gossip with Clive is, and if Owen will ever find out about Amelia/Koracick (also maybe something happens with Omelia too? 😏😏😏). Also, if Jolex doesn’t get engaged by the end of this season, I might throw my TV across the room.
Anyway, that’s all for my thoughts for this week. Hopefully I didn’t miss anything. What did you guys think about it? (Also, let me know if I accidentally offended or said something wrong about Islam and the Hijab above; if I did, I’ll remove it immediately.)
Until next week!

Hey :) I’m curious thoughts on that poorly written, no sense, gross, insulting season finale?
hahaahaha I like your definition!
I think the feeling that the season finale has left me with was the confirmation that when it comes to this new team of writers, anything is possible. Anything. Literally, which is sad because when it gets to a point where sentences like “there are some lines they just wouldn’t cross” (and I am not saying this only in relation to Omelia) don’t apply to a show anymore, it loses touch with reality. I will explain this later.
For weeks now I have been talking about my initial hope that the change in the writers room prior to s14 would help improve the quality of writing, and how it has actually turned into a bigger problem considering the lack of consistency, continuity and correspondency to reality we’ve seen throughout season 14. Initially, the seeming nonsense and crazy ideas were okay and I was keeping my expectations high because I thought they were just bringing the house down to hopefully come up with better quality stuff, but especially after the winter break, the lack of depth in storylines and how they simply decided to rewrite history and ignore a lot of things (not just for Omelia but for the show as a whole) was really unsettling in the sense that with a few exceptions, this new way of making things was hardly making the show enjoyable for me.
For example, in the past, even when Owen and Amelia (and other characters) had their ups and downs, I always had this feeling that I knew eventually justice would be done, things would be properly addressed and in the end, everything would be fine. I was very much hoping that KV and co would take over and maintain that peace of mind at the same time they would improve the pace and fix the angsty vibe of the show (which was our main criticism for last season).
But it’s not what happened at all and this season finale for me was like the final confirmation that being truthful, consistent, righteous and fair to characters (and to the audience) might not be a priority. It actually might not even be in their plans. I waited and I gave them the benefit of the doubt. When, three weeks into it people were like “this is not gonna end well”, I was like “let’s just wait and see”. I waited until the very last minute, I saw hope in every spark and I tried to read into every situation but the season closed, nothing was resolved and sadly, I think the brilliance, charisma and charm of yesterdays, things that really keep me hooked just aren’t something this new team can actually deliver (either they can’t or they are not interested in doing it).
The impression I got honestly was that at the beginning of this season, Omelia took ten steps back and maybe we took two forward? And now there is the potential of things getting wrecked out of proportion.
Now, what I was saying about the show losing its touch with reality:  Call me overdramatic but I honestly can’t see the line between drama and fantasy anymore. It’s one thing for a drama show to take a poetic license and use a situation that might not be so realistic or truthful with the purpose of telling a drama story (Greys does this all the time with medical conditions and that’s okay, I even spoke about this once, it’s not really an issue because the show needs drama, right?). But the problem is that when things like this get done ALL the time with absolute no regard for any sense of realism, it just becomes insane. We’ve seen a LOT of that this season, with episodes in a row. At times I wondered if I was really watching an ABC prime time show.
This season, they abused of things like that. And you can refute that they did stuff similar in the past (Oh yeah, there was a plane crash, a bomb inside a body cavity, Arizona lost her leg, a shooting, etc, etc). hell, yeah, chances of all those things happening to the same group of people are small but at least when these stories were told there was a fine balance between depth, consistency, continuity, character development and a sense of closure. When an arc was brought up, it was properly dealt with and once it was over, things weren’t simply left for interpretation. Everything in season 14 was like: event, event, event, event. Over. Next event. No time for properly interpreting what it means, no time for emotional exploring, nothing. Let’s just wrap a super complex arc in 2 episodes and jump onto the next one and they didn’t even need to be remotely realistic. (I get one or two not being over the course of the season, but in every episode we had something insane happening).
I take old arcs that were brilliantly done in the past and I compare them with things like Megan’s return and exit, Paul Stradler’s reappearance and ultimate demise, Harper Avery’s scandal, Alex’s mom background story. Compare what these arcs I just mentioned have brought in terms of emotions turmoils, stripping off a characters’ soul, emotional battles, ultimate impact and personal growth to everyone involved when compared to stories like Meredith’s mom reappearing with Alzheimer’s, George’s father’s cancer, Herman’s tumor’s arc, Derek’s death, the hospital shooting, and I don’t know, a thousand others. These are just from the top of my head. I will let you guys make your own conclusions.
just honesty, I really can’t wrap my head around a writer who takes on a freaking domestic abuse storyline - which is like a feast for creativity - that had been building up for two seasons and ends it in a couple of episodes with the crappiest closure ever. Same for Megan’s storyline, to be honest. It’s too much for me and I was waiting for the moment she would turn the table around and prove why she was chosen to be the captain of this boat but I guess merit wasn’t it.
Tumblr media
So to sum it up (because I have written more than I should, probably), my thoughts on the season finale are that it was a perfect representation of what season 14 was and what Krista Vernoff has brought into this show: It had all the potential to be great but due to the writer’s mediocrity, was simply boring, predictable and not at all inspiring :)

Jealous of Him
Owen’s jealous thoughts. I wrote this after 14x06 and than I didn’t post it, but I thought why not. Just want to say I am still Team Omelia, but I do think Deluca is insanely hot.
Friends. I didn’t realize exactly how many other guys were interested in her until she was available.
Friends. I knew she was hot, like drop dead gorgeous hot, but I guess I forgot that other people may act upon it now that we aren’t together.
Friends. It seemed like a good idea, it seemed like a good idea to take a break and even try and date other people.
Friends. However, I didn’t expect this green-eyed monster to take over, every time I see a guy flirting with her; especially Deluca.
Friends. What a stupid idea.
I’m not in my twenties anymore, I’m not straight out of the army with muscles the size of Thor. But he is, he is young, and attractive, and all his shirts seem to show off his insane muscles. And I know she notices them, and I can’t blame her because come on; even I know that he’s hotter than me.
Amelia is loyal, even during our hardest times, I never questioned if she was cheating on me or even if she would. But it’s different now, we aren’t together, we agreed to see other people. Stupid, stupid me. I don’t want to be jealous, but I can’t help it, I keep noticing him checking her out. He isn’t even subtle about it, I’m certain she knows, but it doesn’t seem to bother her, in fact I think she likes it.
I know this is my fault, I let my sister convince me that my marriage with Amelia was the reason I was unhappy. I made a rush decision and ended things with her, she took it so gracefully, far better than I expected. Especially considering she gave me an option to be free, she told me we could wait to figure this out, once I had time to adjust to everything. But I didn’t want to lose her again, so I quickly told her to come home. And she did, because she knew how she felt, she offered to give us time to figure everything out, not for her, but for me.
It’s not fair that he gets to be around her all day and I don’t. That has been one of the hardest adjustments, with this separation. Sure, we are “Friends” but it’s not the same, I don’t get to be around the Amelia that gives me the eyes that bring me to my knees. Even when we were fighting as terrible as that was, when she would look at me, I could still see all the love in her eyes, along with pain but at least there was unmistakable love. God, I miss that.
But now she is laughing at what he says, she is giving him quick flirtatious eyes and remarks. And I can’t help but be jealous and wish that was me. And to make matters worse, I invited him, Deluca, to live with me, so I see him all the time, I can’t escape my jealousy. To make matters even worse, the rare times Amelia does come over to hang out as “Friends,” he is there, with his stupid good-looking face and his young insanely built body, smiling and flirting with my Amelia.
I can’t do anything about it because I agreed to this, I agreed to just be friends, real friends. Friends who talk about who we are dating. Except I didn’t expect it to be this hard, to watch her smile at someone else the way she use to only smile at me. Sure, I’ve had a few flings since we separated, but that was more to distract myself from missing her. Plus, I thought it would help with the being friends’ thing, if I could maybe picture myself with someone else, or at least not think of her when I am thinking about sex. It didn’t work though.
I’m really struggling with this “Friends” thing, but I think I can manage to not kill Deluca at this stage. I mean all they are doing is flirting. And to be fair I have slept with his sister… so I don’t really have any ground to stand on, so I can’t kick him out. I don’t have any real reason to. But to be honest if this thing between him and Amelia, my Amelia, goes any farther, I won’t be able to handle it. For now, I am just hoping that nothing more happens between them, because I don’t know what I would do if it did.
