He leans in, hand cupped around the side of his mouth like he's gonna impart some deep secret. "If you've got a cruuush, I'm totes down for giving you wuv tips~!"

actually actually… buckle in for some more unnecessarily detailed baseless speculation*. because it’s fun and there’s still 2 weeks to go (*stop accusing me of TJLCery i’m going to cry)

so, since rogue is the pre-finale episode… as a pattern those tend to begin in the manner of your average doccy who story, but finish with a devastating plot twist denouement to segue into the two-parter at the end. best examples of this are utopia and (gotta hand it to s12 here) the haunting of villa diodati. “it’s a celebrity historical! byron and the shelleys are here! oh and oops… what’s that? that’s the sound of the doctor making a fatal mistake that will inevitably lead her to the narrative climax…”

now what i’m getting at is. what if we’ve all been looking in the wrong place and rogue, not TLORS, is the episode by the end of which the doctor figures out that they’re stuck inside a TV show that’s been remixing old stories from their former adventures? “bridgerton! regency era! jane austen! flirting! ballgowns! dancing! oh and oops… what’s that? that’s the sound of doctor making a tragic discovery that will inevitably lead him to the narrative climax…”

here’s how this ties in to the popular “jonathan groff = recast harkness” theory. now, i USED to be an ardent proponent of it, but i no longer believe he’s actually playing pre-TEC/TDD captain jack, or any era captain jack at all, really. what he is playing, or so i gather apropos of crumbs and wisps of information, is a remarkably harkness-like character. just alike enough to make us (and the doctor!!) wonder: am i getting deja vu?? has rtd devolved into a hack who’s been reusing his old ideas and hoping we won’t notice?

no. look at the sneaky incorporation of The Doctor Dances’ title in the DWM paragraph above. he’s hoping we do.

it’s been pretty much confirmed by ~inside sources~ (read: leaks on reddit from ages ago) that groff’s playing either a time agent or former time agent — judging by the description above, it’s “former time agent turned bounty hunter”. charming, handsome rizzlord fella from the future (what’s that blaster in this hand? could it be from the villengard factories?), adept at blending in with a british historical period despite sounding noticeably american, actively involved in the social life of that historical era, morally grey and antagonistic towards the doctor at first, yet strangely alluring… sexual tension heavily implied… we’re supposed to feel like we’ve seen all this before. this man is a Not-Harkness.

change the doctor’s life forever is the key sentence here. as the doctor realises how remarkably similar groff-“rogue” is to jack when he first met him, and how the circumstances of their meeting almost rhyme too, he’ll notice some more odd things.

he’ll notice. he’ll notice how ruby looks like clara, waited for him while she aged like amy did, called her mum from a future space station looking down through a panoramic window at a planet like rose had, how their relationship is a best friendship/sibling-esque like with donna … he’ll notice how many of their adventures together seem to retread steps already walked. and then the puzzle will click into shape and it will “change the doctor’s life forever”: he’ll discover that this is a puppet show and go searching for whoever’s pulling the strings.

Not-Harkness “Rogue” Groff is the catalyst. the final straw.

today i'm thinking about tdd era samatoki forgetting ichiro's birthday except in the opposite direction. like not missing it but accidentally thinking it's in june instead of july. so getting him a present (nothing special really, a box of strawberry milk or something) way too early

and when ichiro's like "but my birthday isn't until july" rather than admit he got it wrong samatoki's like "what. shut up. i knew that. this is just. the start of a countdown to your real present"

so then every day for the next month samatoki gets ichiro a little something every day (like a candy bar, a cola, a little capsule toy from a gacha machine) because even though he knows ichiro wouldn't actually mind that he was off by a month, he's not about to admit his mistake now

(of course when samatoki isn't around ramuda's like "you know he just forgot right" and ichiro's like "yeah i know but i want to see what else he'll get me (pien) he's so cute (pien)" and ramuda's like lol fair enough)

then as ichiro's actual birthday approaches samatoki is having a hell of a time trying to figure out what ichiro's 'real' present should be. even on ichiro's birthday samatoki still hasn't thought of anything

but turns out he doesn't have to because ichiro comes to him on that day all "samatoki-san can i ask for something specific for my birthday?" and samatoki outwardly is like "greedy little brat" while inwardly thinking oh thank fuck

once samatoki gives him the go ahead to ask, ichiro goes "can i ask you to forgive me for knowing all along that you just mixed up june and july and letting you get me a present every day anyway? (pien)"

after a minute of sputtering half-coherent denials, samatoki huffs and marches over to the nearest vending machine and comes back with another box of strawberry milk for ichiro. which is enough of an answer for both of them to know all is forgiven (there was nothing to forgive)

'Kay, so game verse and anime/manga verse are kind of different. Even the game name says "alternative rap battle" instead of division rap battle.

It was another mundane day of your life. Pillows surrounded your figure, as you flipped pages of the manga (online or not, up to you). Your drink of choice nearby you, ready to be drank and yet, you are too preoccupied with a manga that you recently found out about. This past months, you've been listening to drama tracks, the songs and reading the manga. The storyline is quite complicated in the beginning, but the more you read, the more you understand. You felt so many emotions during the reading process. Sadness, anger, happiness, love. You were so hooked on it.

Unbeknownst to you, figures inside the said manga were having an existenal crisis. Nothing really new to Ramuda, but you get me. The days have been going as they used to. Rap battles went well. Nothing seemed out of place except for the strange feeling. The feeling of being watched. No one understood why did they feel this way. It was not a stalker was it? They became paranoid, until they started hearing voices. Who is it..?

Everyone finds out or accepts it later, then the characters I listed.

I think some of them hated you, some didn't mind you, while others ignored you. They thought you would leave after a while, and yet, you stay. Why are you watching them?

For some reason they can somewhat feel what you feel towards them. Perhaps their universe is intune with your emotions? Would...would they all die if you stopped liking them?

Their world seems to constantly change as well. Why? Some days you were watching them, and sometimes talking. Other days you..sang along with them? Tried to help them sing better? Helped them during some battles..? (Game moments)

It certainly took everyone a good while to warm up to you. Some warmed up quicker than others (Dice and Jiro, they thought you were some guardian angel or something. Like- you're helping them fr)

I have been thinking about something bc of a fic I'm writing, and then this came into my mind so I wanna request it bc it would be a little... Funny?(I think :'D)

Okay okay, hear me out: Ichiro and his s/o are dating since his TDD era, but he remembers that she used to be a little rude to him at the beginning and it made him sad at that time, so Ichiro asks his s/o if she hated him when they met and why.

She then says that they actually met a little before the H era, when they bumped into each other and he was so rude to her that she held a grudge against him for a long time until they met again(plus she fell for him) and Ichiro didn't recognize her before bc she had changed her hairstyle after the incident. Both of them are embarrassed after this, Ichiro is sorry for his behavior back then and s/o says that they were both young and immature and she also feels sorry for being rude to him too :VV

-He's one to believe that any 'fight' (if you can even call it that...) can be resolved through a talk and apologies. So when this gets brought up, he can't help but feel like he should have mentioned it before rather than kept it for all these years.

-Although embarrassed, he does feel bad for his behavior and apologizes to no end for it even though he doesn't even remember it... He does expect you to do the same though! Please apologize, don't leave him looking like a dejected puppy...

-He visibly pouts about this for a few days after too, continuously apologizing to you about it even after you've said that you forgave him long ago. He can't help it!

honestly, as a dedicated rebirth+bunker fan, I barely visit the dark descent tag. maybe amfp, maybe justine. but the dark descent? nah. I mean once a month I look for it on Tumblr and I’m like « oh, headcanons. Oh, juliabeatrice animations. Oh, Alexander or Daniel. cool. see you next month ». And it’s over. it’s just a bit weird. my entire group of fandom friends usually sends the dark descent related posts in the chat and I’m like oh? something happens here? it surely does ofc. it’s just so weird to find yourself so uninterested in… like, the main amnesia series game, the first and the most popular one. it’s just so weird that back in 2015 I knew only Alexaniel stuff, memes with Grunts and Peediepie, and now I barely follow the tag of my current game series hyperfixation. Like I never even expected there could be amnesia game I love more than TDD. back in 2015 I was like « yeah Justine is short and AMFP is sad and not meme-able, so TDD it is, yaoi angst letsplays memes material », and now I’m like « what? There are other games besides Rebirth and the Bunker? What? There’s someone else than Leon de Vries? » lol. Its just surprising how much can it change for you as a game series fan in… ten years, who am I kidding, this game is a relic. I mean, in modern terms, when a mainstream dies in a week. Well, to conclude, it’s a pleasure to be in the same fandom with you guys who still make stuff about Alex, Daniel, Agrippa, Mandus and Justine, after all these years. I may seem like I’m a newbie (and it’s not bad honestly, I’m happy to see amnesia series receiving a new wave of hype after the Bunker’s release) but I’m actually here since 2015 and I’ve waited patiently for Rebirth’s release since the trailer, because I remembered how good was TDD and AMFP. and how good was the internet around these two games ten years ago. Maybe now it’s not the same and it won’t be the same, we won’t have impact shitty memes with Rebirth and Bunker’s characters, we won’t have funny Pewdiepie videos (man has a BABY, he became Rebirth’s protagonist himself lol, congrats tho), but we have a completely new era of fandom stuff.
