How did you get into the series?

I played the first game as a 6-ish year old, basically, and the rest is history LOL. I'm not sure who bought/asked for it (if anyone did?) or generally just how it got in the family PS2 library, but in any case it fell into my hands, I played it, and well.......both it and I never really left!

Also had the bradygames strategy guide for it at some point which IDK if it's, like, around but shredded with age or if it got lost at some point, I'd have to look for it. But I remember reading it a lot and it's probably the biggest reason I got as far as I did. Still don't remember beating it as a kid tho - I got to the final door but couldn't get through all of Ansem's phases. KH1 quite possibly could be the first game I looked up the ending for on youtube once it was a thing that I had awareness of. And found out about the (at the time japan exclusive) secret ending also which was crazy. Who else here remembers the age of "Who is BHK?" even a little bit?

Favorite world?

I like a lot of the worlds for different reasons so my "favorite worlds" list is in perpetual flux and has no ranking system, but I'm going to choose Wonderland (at least this time), because I'm delighted any time it shows up and just generally enjoy it's world design. Also DR throwing in the 'Walrus and the Carpenter' bit was really good, both thematically and I like imagining it as a diegetic song and dance number happening in front of YoungNort and friends.

Aside from anything like "improved women" and "more skin tone diversity that isn't concentrated on bad guy(s) pleaaaase......", which I think people have rightly pointed out as being issues before and probably isn't the spirit of this question anyway... uhhhh.... Aside from little things here and there that I think In My (Unprofessional, Subjective) Opinion could be improved in regards to like information conveyance or just being fun things that I know for sure I'd enjoy seeing, overall not awfully dissatisfied with canon enough to want to make hyper radical changes? I'd have to think on this way more, and also remember more stuff to really be like "oh yeah huh yeah this could be better, here's how i'd change it!" for specific developments.

THAT SAID my first pick is probably something to do with un-pandemic scrunching and expanding Dark Road a bit more, like on giving the upperclassmen some more general development and let the mystery/thriller aspects go on for a little longer, and I thought the whole mystery reveal was a little too fast but, again, it was forced to end early (in addition to some delays) so it's mostly just unfortunate because what IS there is pretty damn good IMHO. Hopefully ML gets more of a chance to tell us all of what the writers want us to see? Fingers crossed...

Hazbin Hotel Songs Analysis

Aka Rei has a new hyperfixation and has to talk about it or he will explode

Since I basically grew up on Musicals (it's in my blood) and I do appreciate a hell centered cartoon/animation, of course my new fav is Hazbin Hotel.

Since the first episode I can't stop listening to the songs and well... my theorist brain is doing overtime. So here's a layman analysis of the music.

I will get to my theories about the story and such at some later point.

Let's go! Spoilers ahead, duh.

First of all: Sam Haft is a genius. Alex Brightman is amazing. And every character has a genre or at least signature instrument. And obviously a lot of my own opinions.

Happy Day in Hell

We basically get hit in the face with a classical Musical Number and get to know Charlie's dream and her musical style. Plus some small hints at Vaggie's background.

The music and the style is very reminiscent of Overtures from modern Musicals, which is very fitting.

Hell Is Forever

At first this song seemed so random, but well. Now it makes sense.

When Sir Pentious starts singing, in the background there's a guitar mimicking snake Rattles.

Again a very Broadway song. I cannot get over that this again is Alex Brightman!

Carmilla's theme is obviously Latin with a Spanish guitar. And Velvet's Hip Hop or at least something similar, not sure because not my type of music.

EDM seems to be Angel's genre which is so fitting.

Once the cannibals join in it gets more old-timey, which fits the period the Town is in. Really sounds like a cheery war song.

Rosie and Alastors dynamic is amazing, just two queer besties being their true self.

This song also gets us excited for the final battle and stills shows Charlie's anxiety.

More Than Anything (Reprise)

This was torture. Normally a Reprise is very telling, example Hamilton.

I was so scared for Vaggie. Still amazing song, good representation.

Finale

What an ending! I was in tears.

The little callbacks amazing, Lucifer being there for his daughter. Everyone supporting her now. It's really a perfect Finale song.

Alastor's part reaks of foreshadowing. No, Alturist is probably not his surname. And no, he doesn't really care about Charlie and Co, he is there for power.

So to the surprise of absolutely no one,here are my first impressions of each Fly With You!! solo song on the new Nijigasaki album :] (listen I’ve been waiting for this for SO LONG like…how many times have I referenced wondering when Nijigasaki’s 5th / 6th album to come out??)

🎀 “Walking Dream” : 7/10 - Ok,so the song itself is super pretty,it feels like I’m sitting on a cloud with the light + dreamy feeling it has,but here’s the thing…I read somewhere that the English lyrics were “interesting” and as someone who isn’t a big fan of yandere Ayumu memes I really didn’t want to believe it…but MAN did they run with it in this song,like she is way more aggressive this time like here’s some examples: “I want you to be trapped in me forever” “Who are you looking at? Don’t do that” “The private account you have, the secret hobbies you have - As long as it’s about you I know everything” - Like hello? Hi? Is it just me reading too far into this or what?? Because it looks to me like this was done on purpose 👀 idk it’s started to grow on me more now that I’ve heard the whole song,it’s not like my FAVORITE Ayumu song but it’s very pretty and I like it even if the lyrics are a little questionable cndjdj

👑 “Senobi Shittate” : 8 or 9/10 - Not gonna lie,I don’t think the preview did this song justice bc I wasn’t sure about it at first BUT the full song is definitely better,I like that they’ve been giving Kasumi more “mature” sounding songs bc while the cutesy idol sound works for her too,this sort of slower dramatic guitar song also fits her image a lot too :0c idk it’s a nice balance,we have songs for bubbly cutesy number one idol Kasumin and songs for the less confident shyer Nakasu Kasumi it’s a nice balance ^^ one of my favorites so far

💧 “Koakuma LOVE ♡” : 10/10 - Ok so my first impression of the preview still stands now because…um…HUH???? This does not sound anything like any other Shizuku song we’ve heard - it’s very fluffy and cute,she’s using onomatopoeia like “kyururin” and “doki doki”,she even talk-raps at some points…wait a minute…this isn’t a Shizuku song at all,this is a Kasumi song! It’s like Mia sent these two the wrong songs on accident,but they didn’t notice and went with it anyway chdjdj but I love it,it’s still one of my favorite songs on this album for the sheer silliness alone it’s fantastic,tbh she never makes a bad solo song in my opinion

👠 “My Shadow” : 10/10 - KARIN! NEVER! MISSES!! I’m just so happy that she finally has a jazzy funky song,it’s a sound I’ve always wanted her to try and now that she has one it’s AMAZING! It really suits her,one of my favorite things about Karin is that she never does the same concept / sound twice like there’s something for everyone and I love it,I love this song it MIGHT be my one of my favorites on the album and my favorite Karin solo it’s SO good

👏 “Request for U” : 7/10 - Well…I like that they slowed it down this time for Ai,plus the funkier trumpet sound is nice idk how to describe it’s not BAD,like it wouldn’t be an instant skip for me but I’m not going out of my way to listen to it ykwim?? For me I like her other solos a lot better,but it’s a good listen regardless

🐏 “Cooking with Love” : 12/10 - YEP! This one is my favorite,I knew it would be just from the preview but this did not disappoint like we know Kanata can do EDM bc of Butterfly - but they took it to another *level* with this song,it’s so sweet and sugary but then the DROP??? The drop near the end blew my mind,like I definitely didn’t see that coming that at all,it was amazing I love this song so much omg - to think Kanata would be the second Nijigaku member to have a kawaii bass-ish song along w/ Rina is a little bit of a surprise,but definitely a welcome one ^^

🎙️ “Cherry Bomb” : 9/10 - First of all,Hayamaru is a SPECTACULAR Setsuna like she captures the feeling of the character while also doing her own thing if that makes sense I think this is a great debut song for her,usually I’m pretty 50/50 on Setsuna’s songs but this one is really good :0c I love the drums and how high energy it is,it’s definitely up there on my favorite songs on the album and favorite solos of hers

🍞 “Koisuru Sunflower” : 8/10 - …ok so I mean this in the nicest way possible,but this song kinda sounds like the Coconut Mall theme in Mario Kart not fully but a little bit ok cndjdj anyways smth I like about Emma’s solos is they always have this warm comfy feel like they’re just hugs in song form - this one feels like I’m chilling on the beach,watching the sunset w/ a fun little drink in hand and it’s really nice :] not much else to say,I just like this song a lot which isn’t surprising because all of Emma’s solos are pretty good

🛜 “Watashi wa Magnet” : 6/10 - Well…this may be the first Rina solo that isn’t immediately one of my favorites,it’s kind of like Ai’s where it’s not bad but I’m not gonna seek it out ykwim?? It’s a cute song but not really my style,it’s a little slower than I expected it to sound ig

🔖 “Koufukuron” : 5/10 - Y’know,I was REALLY hoping that they just previewed the wrong part of the song but…why would you give this girl outfits with names like “Royal Skeleton” and “Undead Celeb” if you’re going to give her a generic pop ballad?? It’s not like. The worst song it’s fine but it’s definitely my least favorite Shioriko solo 😔 which makes me sad because I love her so much…maybe it’ll grow on me but for right now it’s my least favorite solo on this album like again it’s not horrible but I’m a little disappointed because imo her outfit choices built it up to be something it isn’t ykwim??? Maybe that’ll change but for now it’s kinda meh imo :/

🎩 “Lemonade” : 7/10 - So we’ve gone from a Taylor Swift song in 2006 to Avril Lavigne song to Avril Lavigne b-side and now we’ve circled back to a b-side on a Disney pop star’s album,honestly I’m loving Mia’s song journey chdjdj but this is probably my favorite out of the slower songs,it’s just cute and boppy Mia has one of my favorite voices in Nijigaku + I think she can pull off a lot of different concepts w/ this being no exception - not much else to say,it’s just a nice song (and I’m glad that they’ve dialed it back w/ the weird lyrics for her…for a second there she always got the slightly suspicious lyrics but this time it’s decent)

🪽 “5201314 (I Love You Forever)” : 10/10 - WHOA!!!! Lanzhu bringing in the HEAT after all of the slower songs before her,oh my g o d this song is amazing :0 I like that she speaks Chinese more,I like that it sounds like video game BGM,this might have topped Ye Mingzhu for me when it comes to Lanzhu solos like…that intro alone slapped me in the face but in the best way possible WOW this song is awesome,as expected of the queen herself to end this set of solos with a bang

🌈 “Fly with You!!” : 9/10 - Usually Nijigaku’s group songs aren’t really my thing,but this one is nice :] it makes me think of like…Hirogaru Precure for some reason even tho I haven’t seen a single episode of any Pretty Cure series cjdjdj it’s a little orchestral but also a good cheer up song idk what it is,but it’s probably one of my fave group songs now

Finally making a post about the Sick New World festival with Sushi 😭❤️

This was such a long ass HOT ass day LOL I’m normally not built for any sort of festival settings, I’ve been to a K-pop festival back in 2011 in NJ (which was my worst ever experience in a festival setting ever LMFAO) and then an EDM festival in Ohio (and that’s music isn’t even my cup of tea), and now a rock one.

So we got there around 1pm because of FLYLEAF! While I don’t know A LOT of their songs, Sushi and I wanted to hear their most iconic songs live especially since they had the original singer. But as she was singing… her voice kept cutting in and out and we didn’t know if it was the mic, but then when she was talking to the crowd after the songs, we could hear her clearly! Unfortunately… that performance was a disappointment. So my initial impression on the rest of the acts we wanted to see was in a dire state…

But then Papa Roach was next and to our surprise they were AMAZING??? Sounded just like how they did in their recordings, knew how to rally the crowd, and for one of their songs they brought out a singer from Hollywood Undead which was such a HUGE throwback? LOL When he started to have the crowd make mosh pits, we saw this one shirtless guy BOOK IT to the pits LMFAOO as if he was waiting for that moment his whole life!! Then Sushi made a comment how that would be Jowa running into the crowd excitedly to join in the moshing LOL Goro would say he looked like a slut because he’s all shirtless 😒 LOL

Tbh the day was such a BLUR because it was SO HOT. Everywhere I turned… burnt bodies everywhere… when we got drinks after Papa Roach, I swear that Liquid Death was the BEST thing I ever drank… and it was just cold water LMFAOOO. Idk why I got the 21+ wristband because there was no way I was going to drink especially since it was so hot, plus I didn’t want to go to the bathroom a lot! Speaking of bathrooms, I was actually REALLY surprised that the bathrooms weren’t outhouses. There was a lot of stalls and it moved quickly— also it was CLEAN LOL. Only thing was trying to get INTO the bathrooms??? IT WAS SO CROWDED, I kept looking back if I lost Sushi just because there were SO MANY people, there weren’t set lines so people were just going in and out.

The other performances we saw were Chevelle, Incubus (lead singer wore a snoopy shirt), Evanescence, Deftones, Korn and System of a Down, and they sounded GREAT too! Like when Evanescence came out, I felt my body get chills hearing her sing because she sounded SO good. During the middle of Deftones’ performance, we decided to sit on those grassy areas and watch from the screen since we don’t want to be squished in the huge crowd… it was also during the time where the sun was setting and it was becoming cooler… let me tell you… I ended up enjoying that time where we were chilling on the grass and watching the performances on there only because we were on our feet the WHOLE day and it wasn’t HOT LOL. Anyway they sounded so good, I believe the later acts had longer set times, which was nice because we were able to listen to a lot rather than a few.

The reason I wanted to go to the festival in the first place was for Korn!!! They were my favorite because— I mean they’re one of my favorite bands and I LOVED the purple sparkly Adidas jumpsuit Johnathan wore. I did not know he wore that adidas tracksuit since he was younger… me fake fan. I was able to hear so many songs I loved live!!! I wished they played Liar too, but tbh just witnessing live was already more than enough for me. I want to go to a solo concert of just Korn and Deftones one day! We then saw System of a Down and again, they were great too— that’s what I can really saw because it’s true! So many of the performances we saw were REALLY good! It’s just that it was SOOO FUCKING HOT LOOOL

I was actually kind of scared that because it was so hot, my Tamagotchi 4U would be fried… I kept thinking “NOOO GORO’S DYING!!!!” But he was fine LOL it was just so bright outside that we couldn’t see the screen at all.

Tbh we could’ve came so much later for Evanescence or even Deftones, and that would’ve sufficed for us LOL We were also able to buy merch when there was barely any lines! Majority of the day it was so crowded, so that was lucky. Anyway, for the first time, I got sun burnt a bit on my shoulders??? And I realized LATER that my forehead was slightly darker than the sides of my face LMAOOO it’s a lot better now but I didn’t even notice until I was in Sushi’s bathroom with my face close up to the mirror. We ate Q Bistro for a late dinner, but it was unfortunate that they didn’t have the Sweet potato pizza!!! 😭 But the fried chicken and omelette rice was super good… next time…

It was definitely an experience and I’m glad to say I went to one with Sushi! Though yeah, my body not built for standing in one place in the heat LOL (no one is). But smh I saw that there was a weekend festival where Slipknot and Polyphia (and more) were performing and I was like “no way.” BUT I WONT BE SWAYED… SOLO CONCERTS ONLY LOOL

Ok, fresh thoughts (might change later because you know, fresh emotions are never the most reliable in the long term but still)

OOTD: well........ It's a disappointment. I mean you can find a bit of their rock signature but it's not doing for me for various reasons. Ironically Scream is my favourite TT and it's arguably their least Rock song, but their signature is still here. But here the song sounds messy. Why are music producers nowadays unable to give us a well structured song anymore???? I mean I know the answer, it's the tiktokification of music but I'm not gonna start that debate now, just no. The singing part are very good thoug, and I know now why they chose this part for the medley, because it's the best part. I love Yoohyeon and Handong parts, they honestly slay it and it's kinda new for me to find anyone having better "rock parts" than Siyeon. Anyway, I understand the need to do different stuff and renew yourself, and I'm probably too negative but usually when you renew yourself it's to do something different. And the problem is that while it's different for Dreamcatcher, it just sounds plain basic for the mainstream Kpop scene. Like sorry but many groups have done this. I'm not gonna say it's bad because taste is subjective (also I do listen to bp so I don't think I'm legitimate to say what's good or bad djdjdndjdns), I just don't expect this for them. And the lyrics.... That's the worst fucking part. Tbh it's not a surprise at all. When I saw "OOTD" I knew it was gonna be cringe. I just kept my mouth shut because I don't like giving an opinion on a 30 seconds snippet. Also I find 90% of the English lyrics in Kpop cringe, it doesn't stop me from listening, I just pretend I don't understand lmao. Also, Everglow could have pulled something with these lyrics tbh (no shade, I love Everglow, it's their signature brand and they do it better than anyone else imo). The MV goes well with the music so yes it's not mindblowing, and I was expecting something more after the hype they pulled before the comeback. Gotta say the editing is absolutely insane and whoever worked on it deserves more recognition. Also it's visually way more pleasing to watch than Maison or Vision. And no matter what the concept is, the girls are always pulling it flawlessly. They are genuinely so good at adapting to whatever they have to work with it. Also the choreography is interesting. Anyway, what I'm saying is that it's pretty basic and I guess that's the curse of loving an artist, it's that you always have higher expectations for them than anyone else.

Rising: I said it and I will say it again. It should have been the title track. I know there's little chance they will ever have a rock heavy song as the TT again because now they are more popular and they have to cater to the general audience and their sensitive ears. I mean Kpop, American music or whatever, heavier songs are always ignored by mainstream audiences. So yeah it's not a surprise that they decided to choose a sound that's already familiar for a general public, with just a bit of rock underneath to satisfy everyone and called it a day. At least I can listen Rising ten times a day if I want.

Shatter: I don't really have an opinion on it. I just don't have any comparison in DC's discography or my own music to say anything. They tried something different and I appreciate them for that.

We Are Young: they just are so good with nostalgic EDM songs aren't they???? I'm gonna need it when I feel down.

Anyway, overall the album is good, proof that the producers do in fact produce good music when we let them do so, I just think the title track is more made for general audience first. And I mean, it's a very competitive industry, if you want to survive you have to adapt to what the public is able to digest. What I really mean, is fuck capitalism.

Now that I've complained a lot, you are about to witness the biggest hypocrite move from me because of course I'm gonna reblog everything, gif everything and being always lovey dovey from them. You need to understand that my rational brain and my fan brain are two different entities lmao

Bleed Magic: I found this track years ago when it had just released, entirely by chance. One of the better ones on that album, really. We love Date-Rape-Song in this household. Also, did you catch that this is the only track on the album that uses the "Turn The Page" sound effect they told us to be listening for? I think that's cruel, personally. Points for not recommending "Choke", though, I'm kinda getting tired of that one.

Wayne's World 2: Two? Why is it "Two"? Is there an earlier version? Is the first version objectively better, like "Saint Bernard"? Anyway, I think the most interesting part of this song is whatever that string is in the background. Is that a fuckin'...Mandolin?? Ukulele? Somethin weird. The instrumentation is what stops me from calling this "Generic", because it is sort of generic, but it's a really unique way of exploring something generic, y'know? It's sort of like subverting a trope, or at least that's how it sounds to me. Making the cliché interesting again. This is a song I would listen to for a day while it was stuck in my head and then get tired of it and want nothing to do with it ever again. And then I would keep seeing it in my feeds because the algorithms would be like "C'mon Sophie, you LOVED this track, you played it for 12 straight hours!!" and then eventually I'd probably start liking it again because I'd keep hearing it. That sounds hyperspecific but I swear it happens all the fucking time.

Already Dead: This reminds me of the exactly one Falling In Reverse song that they keep re-releasing with different words, if Falling In Reverse were EDM instead of like...rock or...w/e is wrong with FIR... This song has a lot of allusions in it, and it really seems like it's about an actual struggle that's actually happening (which puts it miles beyond FIR), but I don't know if I can say I like this song, either, because it's just too peppy for a song that seems to be about contemplating suicide, at least at first glance (there's probably more to it that I don't see yet, but I'm dubbing this Rockstep-Suicide-Song for now).

I'm just answering these because I want to, and skipping the ones that wouldn't be relevant or I don't feel like answering lmao

01. How many fics have you worked on since January? Hmm, five? I finished the Noct & Gladio one, I've been working on the rewrite of the aftermath one, I started the one inspired by @quartzguts fic Lost Signal (go fucking read this if you haven't), I did some more backstory for the college au, and I edited the secret one.

02. What’s something new that you tried in a fic this year? I've been trying to do a sliiiightly closer POV than before. I think it came out nicely enough in the Noct & Gladio fic. Definitely a challenge for me though.

05. What ships captured your heart? Ignoct still has my heart forever and always, but I've definitely had a growing fondness for Gladnoct. More platonic than romantic but I don't mind the romantic.

07. Did you write for any new fandoms or ships this year? I mean I guess the Noct & Gladio fic is the first time I've written a fic centered on the two of them. I thought about writing a fic for Sword AF, and for Breath of the Wild, but I didn't. I'm unlikely to for either fandom, tbh. Too many for ffxv to focus on.

08. What fic meant the most to you to write? Aftermath fic, even though I'm not finished with it. I've been basically writing it since 2019 and it's the most in-depth fic I've ever written and I've put so much fucking work into it and it's over 600K I'm super proud of it even if it's slowly killing me and the fandom will be 100% dead by the time I'm done.

09. What fic made you feel the happiest to work on? college au, my self-indulgent beloved. I have no idea if I'll ever successfully write you, but I love you nonetheless.

10. What fic was the most satisfying to finish writing? lmao I only finished the Noct & Gladio one so I guess that by default.

11. What fic was the most difficult to write? the one inspired by Lost Signal. I have it all plotted out and I'm excited to write it but fuuuuck when I tried back in the summer it was not cooperating. and then writer's block just came knocking in general. I've got one finished chapter and I low-key hate it so I'm trying to ease back into things with working on my rewrite of aftermath fic before I attempt this fic again.

12. What fic was the easiest to write? I mean the Noct & Gladio one was pretty easy to write once I kicked my own ass and stopped procrastinating on the battle scene lol.

KMFDM, Assemblage 23, Lost Signal, Neuroticfish, Rotersand, Seabound, Lionhearts, Covenant, Wolfsheim, Acretongue, Michael FK... I also listened to Linkin Park and the Ori and the Blind Forest soundtrack.

15. What was the hardest fic to title? only two fics got titled this year... the secret one I ain't sharing lmao and the Noct & Gladio one, which was actually hard to title. Ameliorate. It fits but I kinda hate it ngl. I couldn't think of anything better. I still can't. It's whatever.

16. What's your favorite title of the year? the secret one. I'm so mean for it but as soon as I was done editing I knew I HAD to make that the title. I'm sorry my beloved blorbo. it was just too perfect lmao. one of my mutuals knows what I'm talking about XD it's all good.

21. What's something that surprised you while you were working on a fic? Did it change the story? my ass in 2019: I already wrote a lot of Noct dissociating in Under Grey Skies, I don't need to do it in aftermath fic. my ass in 2024: huh, Noct doesn't dissociate enough in this fic. soooo I guess now that's gonna be a thing. it has very much changed the story, several scenes have been changed/added for it and I'm not entirely sure where I'm going with it yet but that's why I'm writing without posting for now. wasn't expecting to do it but we'll see what happens.

22. What writing programs did you use? Did you write by hand? no to by hand, I only sometimes do that for notes/plotting. I use scrivener <3333 I bit the bullet at the start of this year and used the money I had left from selling my car/after buying a freezer to upgrade to scrivener 3 and though I miss some things from scrivener 1, I mostly like it. I've gotten a lot more into the organisational features and it's been a godsend for making the rewrite of aftermath manageable.

25. How did you recharge between fics? Killed myself 100%ing breath of the wild. including all 900 fucking korok seeds. and then started playing tears of the kingdom with the intention of 100%ing that too but fuck me upgrading the armour was such a fucking slog even with duping diamonds for rupees and I still don't even have all of the sets collected and the koroks are more annoying this time and hhhhhhh I went back to fic to recharge from that fucking game.

28. When you're not in the mood for EDM, what do you like to listen to?

I keep looking for a movie that'll scare me like that. The newer horror films seem to be more into shock value. I like the movies that make me have to watch a classic cartoon after while cuddling in order to fall asleep. 😂 (I always make it seem like it's not for my benefit though. Like, here, let Daddy protect you, as if I'm not jumping at every sound too. 😂🤣)

I'm glad you like it so far! Yeah, I'm sure it would be great on shrooms, but it's great in all states of mind haha. What songs stick out to you on the album?

And honestly, I'm never not in the mood. I legit don't listen to anything else, music wise. I use to be into rock, but that was ages ago. There are so many sub-genres that fall under the EDM umbrella, that I can always change it up and not get sick of it. I bounce from Experimental Bass, Riddim, Some House, Psytrance, Drum and Bass, and more that I can't think of at the top of my head. And if I'm not listening to music, I listen to podcasts! My Favorite Murder is my most listened to podcast.

And LMAO I always need a good pallette cleanser after a scary movie 😂 relatable affffff. But yeah, newer scare movies just don't hit as good as stuff from the late 90s/early 2000s. The stuff now is a lot of same storyline just made more modern? Idk, I haven't watched too many new horror flicks to make a lot of judgement hahah.

And honestly, it really depends. I'd want the date to be something both people enjoy, so that would have to be up for discussion once common interests are established! But tbh, a rave is a great first date 😂😂😂

Tbh I wasn't even surprised like everyone else because this release is very jungkook imo 😆 I'm glad you brought up 'Stay' because that's exactly what this release reminded me of and that was a song that was meant for his mixtape. It also reminded me of 'please dont change', which are 2 songs that also took time to grow on me. I'm just not a huge edm fan.. Now after streaming, I do enjoy it a lot more and find the lyrics so sweet ♡ but it has joined 'Dreamers' and 'closer to you' as songs I'm meh about 😅 do you have any JK solo songs that you feel meh about?

I also saw you and other anons talking about the producers, but I thought the producer who worked on this is someone in-house. I saw that he produced bts songs and a song on Face, but I could be wrong 🤔 if that is the case, then I also feel similarly with you about preferring the Golden producers. NLG felt a little dated imo and not to get too off topic, but this is one of my fears with the new BTS album. I fear that they already have the album finished and it'll feel very dated once they release it 😕

Overall, I'm a huge fan of Golden and I really hope jungkook keeps working with the producers, writers, and dancers. I just hope that next time, since he'll have more time, maybe he could help with the song writing even if that means translating the korean lyrics fo english since that's the direction he's going in. I was the anon who sent you the ask about 'I wonder', and the reason I brought that up is because even though it was jhopes song I started to notice that jungkook is primarily singing in English even if it's a collab so that makes me think that he might make his whole solo career primarily English. I'm even more convinced now because even his festa song is all English when it was just for fans and not supposed to be a promoted single with a mv, visualizer, or lyric video. So it just seems like we'll be getting mostly English tracks going forward, which I'm not against because I love singing along to golden

I don't think people were surprised by the genre or lyrics, but rather the overall delivery. My You is pretty basic - more basic than NLG, even - but prettier. NLG does remind me a bit of Stay, My You, and Please Don't Change, but all of those songs are better produced imo. NLG sounds like a Jungkook song that's somehow been distorted. It lacks that sweet, sentimental JK flavor - yet, the more I listen to it, the more I hear JK in it. Please Don't Change also grew on me. I think watching Jungkook perform it live helped. I like it a lot now (well, as much as I like any Golden bside, which is to say, I can't fully connect with any of the songs; It's weird to explain, it's like their Jungkook's, but not at the same time).

That's so funny!! Those are some of my favorites! Closer to You is my 2nd favorite Golden bside (1st is Somebody), and I love Dreamers - both songs had to grown on me though, but that's normal for me lol. Personally, I'm meh about Too Sad to Dance. The lyrics are pretty cringy and the melody is a bit childish, yet the song is very pretty too. (it'd be prettier if it wasn't written for an American country singer rather than a Korean). Shot Glass of Tears is the same. That producer just has cringe lyrics. I love Shot Glass of Tears though - but some of the lyrics pain me... I'm a bit meh about L&R because of CP's voice. I would love the song if it was just JK. Too Much is also a banger, but the lyrics...

Sorry that I'm replying to you like this, but I wanted to address all your points! He worked with a number of people. The KOMCA credits list that circulated on Twitter made it seem like the in-house producer and Jungkook had produced the song, but if you go on Spotify the song's producers are supposedly Bak, Sim Fante, star boy (ie. 2nd producer tag), and Outtatown (ie. 1st producer tag). I think in-house producer and JK did the vocal production and arrangement, but not the overall production? I don't know enough about music to say... The production doesn't feel dated to me, but rather very low quality, in an unfortunately typical BH/Hybe way... I mentioned Closer Than This had the same low quality production, even with entirely different (and equally outsourced) producers...

You really think BTS already recorded their new album? I really don't think so. Joonie made it clear he was in a slump, BTS wise, and it was hard to write even the new tracks in Proof. He didn't know what BTS was supposed to be or represent anymore, so I doubt they recorded a whole album before the hiatus got announced. RM wouldn't just record whatever without participating in the lyrics and deciding the album's message and concept. I also disagree that it'd sound dated. 3 years isn't enough to date a good, well-produced album imo. A lot of artists release songs that are 3 years old that sound good still (like the Pharrell Williams collab, if we ever get it!!!)

I get what you mean, but Jungkook didn't choose to sing his part in i wonder... in English. I think most of the members see the appeal of English lyrics because they can reach more fans, and the reason they don't sing more in English is because it's too difficult (especially rapping). I don't think they sing in Korean because it's their mother tongue or because they like the language better. I think that's one of the reasons, but another, perhaps smaller reason, is because they don't speak English well. Since JK has sung so much in English, Hobi probably felt comfortable (and grateful) giving him simple English lyrics which are easy to understand by everyone.

Jungkook did an entire album in English, so, whether by choice or because he feels it's expected now, he's still making English songs. I'm not sure it's a conscious choice, or just a matter of convenience. I also wouldn't be surprised if he made his solo career in English, particularly since he's making American pop. Jungkook explained that he wrote My You half in English, half in Korean so i-Army could understand the lyrics, without leaving k-Army out... Imo, I'm used to his English singing and accent, but he sounds way prettier, polished and more matured/skilled in Korean. It depends on the English lyrics though. If they're snappy and match the beat of the song well, he sounds great (STNY, 3D, Seven, etc.), but if they're too wordy, he can sound a bit clumsy... (NLG, My You, Closer to You, etc.)
