Evelyn, who is tired and most likely half asleep: Well, I don’t think much about such Patty, but maybe. Depends really.

Patrick: Do you think about how Tim is a natural blonde?

Evelyn: Um.. not to the point it’s keeping me up at night, no?

Patrick: Well I do.

Evelyn: Don’t think too much about it sweetie, if it’s keeping you up at night - Patty you need your sleep.

With that, Evelyn let’s out a short yawn before drifting to sleep. Patrick, on the other hand, stays awake thinking about the fact his coworker is a natural blonde. He is stumped. Curious. Intrigued.

Undoubtedly, Patrick stayed up more so then he thought he would. A blonde Timothy haunts his mind at work.

Sometimes we have some topics we would like to share, but they might not provide enough fodder for a full podcast - so we are starting BoPL Musings to collect these ideas together. This is the first of these podcasts. In this first Musings, we talk about The National Theatre Live's production of Nye, staring Michael Sheen. We also discuss a quote from John Green's Crash Course lecture on TB (Tuberculosis). Later, we talk about Twenty One Pilots' Clancy album, and The Hobbit graphic novel. Additionally, we had a great opportunity to see Neil Gaiman in person with Art Spiegelman. We conclude by discussing what we're reading now, among other things.

We really hope you enjoy our first Musings.

Not sure why I flubbed these as they were in my notes! I guess I was so excited to tell you about Nye, my brain just forgot. But, the NHS is for the United Kingdom – not just England.

Ta mas todos nós temos q concordar aq (não precisamos, só é algo q me veio a cabeça e eu achei legal) q se o Philip fosse alguém sã da cabeça, n tivesse matado o irmão, ou até mesmo tentado, e n tivesse todo aquele ódio por bruxas q ele tem, se ele ficasse c o Caleb e tivesse contato cm ele e tals, e fosse um cara d boa no geral, ele seria aqueles tio cachaceiro com barriga de chope(n q ele seria cachaceiro, mas acho q deu pra entender-)

Ele tb provavelmente (quero acreditar q sim) iria, em um certo ponto, organizar uns churrascos (o Caleb tb mt q faria isso, principalmente ele) todo domingo

Ele com certeza faria aquelas piadas de "é pavê ou é pa come?" e ia ficar se achando o máximo (influência do Caleb, q agora faz aquelas clássicas piadas de pai)

A e ele provavelmente enxergaria o(a) filho(a) do Caleb e da Evelyn como meio q filho dele tb de certa forma e tal

Eventful Chinese New Year 🧧

On the first day evening, we drove up to Melaka, had potluck with the family and drove back to muar on the second day afternoon, it being a Sunday and we had duty in church. Grace happily stayed back in Melaka to spend more time with Ah Yee, Porpor and her cousins.

On the third day morning, we drove up again to Melaka, picked gracefully, Ah Yee and Porpor up, then headed to Semenyih. After a simple ceremony at Grandpa and Pa’s graves, we stayed the night at Ah Chim’s place in SS14. Ah Jek took us on a long walk to see a small but beautiful garden in their neighbourhood.

The next day, we visited Gideon, Evelyn and baby Giovanni before we met Jiu Jiu and relatives at Secret Recipe nearby. After lunch, we drove to his house to chit chat further. At about 3pm, we drove home, though at first ma wanted to visit David’s place.

The moment we reached and parked the car at Novo8, Leslie realised he had left his laptop in Jiu Jiu’s house! We were filled with disbelief! We didn’t want to drive back up, what with the traffic jam and our exhaustion.

So the next day at 5.30am, Leslie and I took the bus up to TBS (my first time). We then took the MRT/LRT to Jiu Jiu’s place, then managed to reach Melaka at 3pm. Then we visited Julie. Grace didn’t follow though because she wanted to watch TV with Ah Yee.

We spent one more night in Melaka and drove back to muar on Thursday morning. Phew!

Today I cleared the house, it being vacant for three days had accumulated a lot of dust and dried leaves. In the afternoon, Grace spent the afternoon with Ivana and they drew a funny comic.

Then at night, we attended Gabriel’s birthday party until 10pm. Grace had fun, although most of the kids were two years older than her. Pan Zi and Yew Boon really put in a lot of effort to organise the basketball themed party.

So my brother introduced Brian the cat to our parents on zoom. And when he logged on and we were all able to see each other, he was holding up the cat, close to the computer like its Simba and just went ‘everybody, meet Brian.’ And then turned the cat to like “look” at me and went in a fake voice ‘we already know each other…however ‘ and then like maneuvered the cat to “look” at our parents and went ‘we however, dont. The name is Brian. Nice to meet you’ and he like fake shook his paw as if they were shaking hands. And then he held it like a baby while talking to our parents. And our mom went ‘brian? What happened to fluffy or mr fizzles? Or some other shit like that?’ And he goes ‘he came to me after an episode and we have been bros since. And its because i couldnt figure out a cool name with the word kinney. Plus Brian just sounds fancy. He sounds like he’s judging every other cat that lives on a street’ And then my dad just went ‘i cant believe that this is what i worked my ass off to raise for 18 years’ And my poor mom tried to be on my brothers side and went ‘could be worse, he could’ve been addicted to drugs’ and my dad goes ‘but instead he is addicted to a 20 year old tv show and in love with a man that doesn’t exist who is probably 60 at this point, who’d probably get a restraining order if he met him in real life. Thank God, it’s not drugs.’ (That was all said with extreme sarcasm) and then my brother goes ‘see, when you say it like that, it sounds like I’m either mentally ill or actually on drugs’ and my dad went ‘i think that’s the story you should start going with because nothing about this *waves his hands at my brother who is wearing TB shirt and holding the cat baby style* is normal’ and the whole time, I’m dying inside because none of them know about the chaos I’ve accidentally started on here (except my cousins and friends who find it hilarious) and how there’s a group of people that weirdly find this normal. So that was his human interaction for today. I hope. Oh and I can’t believe I almost forgot, we continued our normal family conversation and then my dad casually goes ‘naming a cat Brian, is dumb. Would’ve been better if you stuck with kinn-whatever the fuck the last name is’ and now there’s a big debate between them what’s a better name for a cat: Brian aka ‘fancy but judgmental of other stray cats’ (he even quotes the Noble quote) or Kinney aka ‘brian is a human name dumbass’

The perpetual debate - which is worse? Having a grown child get addicted to drugs or get mixed up in the world of fandom?

Look, I obviously come down on the side of "Kinney" is a fabulous cat name. But the drawback is that it sounds a lot like "Kitty" and who wants to be thought of as someone who names a cat "Kitty?" I do love a human name for a pet - which is why my other pets are named Olivia (cat), Evelyn (dog), and Harvey (dog)... and Emmett (cat) for Emmett Honeycutt.

I do love the idea of Brian the cat looking at other strays and thinking "there's nothing noble about being poor." Kinney the cat would never, however.

If I’m being honest, I kept thinking to myself Evelyn was some dark haired brunette, with wavy - short hair. I don’t know why, I knew she was some blonde. Just curls that cup her cheeks, complimenting her face, but especially her eyes. Doe eyes really.

It’s like I switched up Price and Evelyn’s hair color, it’s quite funny. Weird to compare how I see them from reading the book to seeing how they look in the movie. Hmm.
