also, the hypothetical 'devo peggy-sues to the start of ethersea' fic is just a long string of devo thinking to himself 'ah yes, i will fix this thing we did wrong' and taking some sort of action that inevitably leads to everything becoming a million times worse. for example,

immediately calling the chaperones on guthrie instead of going along with his little sea portrait heist. good: beck doesn't end up orphaned! the paintings don't end up destroyed! bad: guthrie now has a major grudge against them. amber now thinks devo is a narc.

depression talk ahead

whenever i play a game with a story/characters i love and become deeply invested in, i get depressed in real life. this is because i can't bring myself to do anything other than play the game. Every other thing in life is sidelined. EVERY other thing.

This doesn't make me regret playing the game, because i love its characters so much. But I do wish it didn't happen because everything SUCKS

“She’s just so hot and nice and fun and funny.” Jainia presses her cheek to the table and does her best to melt through it. 

“That’s Moonie.” 

“I asked her if she wanted to go to coffee with me.”

“You finally asked? You’ve been trying for months.” He sounds excited, she hates to ruin it, but…

“I panicked and said “as friends” before she could answer.” Hardwon’s hand drops, dap abandoned, as Jaina groans and shoves her arm over her head. 

“My brain vacates my skull every time I try to interact with her. She asks me to help spot her or check on her form at the gym and I can’t even form sentences let alone provide guidance. I’m just some creepy pervert stood next to her, staring and not saying anything!” Oh no... fuck, is she just some gym creep? Jaina raises her head, grabs Hardwon’s collar and looks him dead in the eye. “You have to tell me if I’m a pervert.”

There’s a long beat of silence where Hardwon tries to work out which answer saves him from losing another wrestling match. “Look, Moonshine loves perverts. She lives with me and hangs out with Mav! Plus there’s that weird jeweller guy she’s engaged to.” Hardwon smiled beautifically, clearly convinced the words that had just come out of his face were somehow reassuring. 

Jaina was going to expire. “Why didn’t you tell me sh…. Why didn’t she tell me she was… not that she has to. I mean… fuck. So she’s engaged?” She lets go of Hardwon’s shirt and took a deep, defeated slug from her stein.

“I think so? It was a whole thing. Wait, hang on, was it two guys? Look, it’s hard to keep track of this stuff, you know how it is, but we haven’t seen them in a few years.” Jaina sees the moment Hardwon finally realises he’s adding to the panic, not assuaging it. “She didn’t like them or anything.” He adds reassuringly, patting Jaina on the shoulder.

“Moonshine’s currently engaged to two men she doesn’t actually like, but it’s fine because she hasn’t seen them in a while?”

“Yeah!” He replies happily, clonking his tankard against Jaina’s. “Want another?”

She groans, nods, and hopes her head doesn’t hurt too badly in the morning.

Yuria's eyes wander to the shelves on her right and on her left. She never thought this place has so much info. It makes sense why Jujutsu Society is a well-kept society.

"Of course!" Nobara didn't mind but it would give her a chance to see the library. She was leading the way but was not going too fast for Yuria. Miko saw the two leave but she looks seeing Kisho happy that she smiled as well.

"Thank you..." she bows her head then thinks. "He's been teaching me to work on my cursed energy. To summon it and trying to shape it. I'm still learning more and more about other things that and working on some thing for me to use it for." she said.

"And I will Kisho.." she said happy to him.

I really do need more bird protagonists, but making this one a honey badger seems obvious

for a year or so i've been kicking around the idea of a protagonist in a different universe from the usual stories, with magic (still contemplating whether it would be better to only give them access to magic, or to have it be commonplace). disaffected, full of contempt toward the rest of the world, hungry for power and a touch sadistic, they decide that they'll become this world's god by killing the current one and they succeed. the majority of the story would be about what happens after that. imagine an accidental baby from a one night stand between the homunculus in the flask and light yagami, but stupider than both of them. that's my vision--

This ties in with an idea that I think nowadays that good art is moral and bad art is immoral: i.e. if a story is good it must somehow be beautiful on the moral scale. We go looking for why the art we love is moral even if the art we love is a donut.
