i keep coming back to 'i was a functioning alcoholic til nobody noticed my new aesthetic' because i do distinctly remember conversations about how taylor seemed to be drinking a lot more and getting drunk at like every awards show she went to. and those conversations were coming from a place of concern and of hoping that she was alright and that this wasn't a problem.

so to then say 'ugh i can't believe no one noticed this problem i had' when i know that people definitely did, and on the same album say that fans who are genuinely concerned about a new relationship that you are in are just 'bitching and moaning'? what do you want from them? you're talking about so many people who do at least believe that they are coming from a place of care and concern, and you are totally dismissing them on both ends of a scale!

not to mention that her implying that since nobody (???) was noticing her ~aesthetic~ drinking problem she just stopped having it is a bit of a kick in the teeth to people who do have drinking problems and can't just stop having them, since that's not how it fucking works.

Little drabble based on a song from Taylor Swift. I had Bucky Barnes in mind for this one but as per usual there’s no name so it can be anyone you want. Nat’s a girl’s girl enjoy🫶🏻

He’s always traveling, mission to mission. I understand that people depend on him and I feel selfish for needing him back so bad. But it's not fair, I need him too.

He hangs up and you’re left with your thoughts. You're too needy. You eventually sigh and decide to give up staring at your phone. You call Natasha and ask her to take you to get shitfaced. She takes you to her house, and you smoke a couple joints and drink a lot. Ending up on her porch drinks in hand just talking about him.

“I just- I don't know. I need him! He’s never here. I am dating the love of my life but I'm sleeping in an empty bed every night.” You look into your glass of scotch on the rocks, for an answer it doesn't have. You sigh and drink the rest of it in one shot. She filled a shot glass with tequila and handed it to you.

“Hon you do not deserve this shit! Drink up babe.” She says pouring another shot for herself but you swipe it from under her hand and throw your head back, downing it before she can say a word. You set the shot glass down and look up at her with a sly smirk. “Alright let's go!” Nat laughs and lines up four shot glasses before pouring the tequila over them all until they are full. You watch her stand there and down each of them without taking a break until she puts away the 3rd. You stare wide-eyed in awe of what you just saw. She smiles and slides the last one over to you, you shrug and nod before taking the shot. “That’s it!”

“Holy shit! Okay also just objectively, that was super hot! Seriously the next time you walk up to a guy in a bar, do that shit!” You say plainly, she cackles and doubles over before covering her eyes with her hands. She is so confident and strong until you compliment her, then she crawls into her turtle shell and feels awkward. You smile, raise your hands up in surrender and shrug “Hey, I’m just letting you know! Seriously though, if you try that and it works, text me immediately!” You laugh softly and go get two water bottles.

You both stumble to the couch and sit down, deep sighs pour out of both of you. “I miss him, Nat.” you say with a tear forming in your eye. “If I could go with him it wouldn’t be a big deal but they can’t bring partners on any missions.” You take a deep breath and Nat doesn’t say anything letting the air stay tense as you take a moment to collect yourself. “I’ve talked to him about retiring. He’s not old, but due to his extensive trauma, he can retire early from this job! Sometimes I think he loves being in the field more than being with me.” You feel a tear run down your cheek but don’t wipe it away. “He’s told me he doesn’t. But the way his face lights up when his boss calls is, well it's how I wish he looked at me.” You’ve poured your heart out and realize you’ve been talking for a long time. “Oh my god, I’m sorry I’ve been talking a lot.” You cover your mouth with your hands.

“Hon.” Oh no…her tone, bombs are about to drop, you think to yourself. “This sucks but you have no control here. You can only ask him to choose you.” She shakes her head, her eyes welling with tears. “I’m so sorry, I wish I could make this situation better. But I am going to be here no matter what he chooses.” She says sniffling her tears back. [She definitely has experience in this situation which is why she’s responding with the same emotion] You sigh and nod.

“I know.” You smile a bit. “Fuck!” You throw your head back and stare at the ceiling “This fucking sucks!” You pull one of the pillows to your face and scream into it, to get it out of your body. “I’m gonna text him, one last time.” You say letting your arms fall to your lap.

“What are you gonna write?”

“I have everything to say to him, but he knows all of it already.” You open your phone to his message thread, his cute face squished at the top of the screen made you smile. You take a deep breath, Nat places her hand on your knee to comfort you, after staring at your phone for a minute. You type “Come back, be here”

“Oh fuck” Nat reads it and inhales sharply. “That’s it?” She says and in response, you hit send. “Alright.” She chuckles as you throw your phone away from you.

“I need to sleep, mostly so tomorrow comes faster and hopefully he changes his mind by then.” You rattle on as you reach for your bottle of water and stand up. “I’m gonna take a swig of Nyquil and pray for sleep.” You pick up your phone and walk up the stairs.

“Text me if you need me!” She yells up the staircase.

“Will do!” You shout back.
