Captain Hook was in the process of making a third pirate walk the plank, when his first mate came up to the deck.
“Where is it?” Hook snarled at the pirate, brandishing a cutlass at his chest. “I know one of you must have taken it!”
“Uh, Captain Hook, sir?” The first mate piped up, nervously. “What are the crew walking the plank about this time?”
“Someone’s taken my Taylor Swift CDs! And they’ll pay for it.”
The first mate groaned. There was nothing more sure to upset Hook than someone messing with his playlist.
“Now, now, Captain.” cajoled the first mate. “Maybe we can listen to some Ke$ha instead?”
“I can’t listen to TiK-ToK! It reminds me of that damned crocodile. And you salty dogs should all know that!” In a rage, Hook advanced down the plank, forcing the poor pirate another step back towards the brink. “Well, I’ll show you what happens to thieves on my ship. There’s a blank space in the ocean, baby, and guess what?”
“You’ll write his name?”
“At the very least, I’ll put an ‘X’ there!”
“Captain! Perhaps we could just … download the music? You know, illegally?”
“That’s piracy, you foul cur!” Hook turned to his first mate with murder in his eyes. “What, would you download a flintlock? A dinghy? Would you download a mermaid, you foul tempest-botherer? Would you split her into bytes and force her through the sieve of our terrible wi-fi? Would you use all our data to torrent a whole-ass mermaid?!?”
“Well, we are *pirates*, sir?”
“But what about the record labels’ profits, you shucked oyster of a man? What about their projected turnover? Did you think about the turnover??”
“Okay, no downloads, sir.” The first mate held up his hands in surrender. “How about a sing song? We could do a shanty?”
“I’m sick of shanties!” Hook turned back to the pirate on the plank, cast the cutlass aside and dropkicked him straight into the sea. “The plankings will continue until the music improves!”
“Right you are, Captain. Sorry, Captain!”
The first mate fled back below decks. As he reached his hammock, the dismayed look on his face was replaced with a devious smile.
He took the walkman out of its hiding place and inserted a CD, then popped on the earphones. He began to quietly sing along:
“It’s Smee. Hi. I’m the problem, it’s Smee.”

hey what’s up hello okay so i finally just finished s2 e52 of dndads (had a very crazy work week so was listening in bits and pieces) and here’s the thing is that im also currently relistening to the whole season and earlier in this week, the most recent episode i finished, was halt and catch fireball, and before that ya know was mrs. swallows oak garcia’s home for peculiar teens or whatever that one is called where they are just. at normal’s house and we got to actually get to know rebecca a little bit and i have got to say that i don’t know if i could’ve picked a more painful and wild older ep to listen to as a precursor to dood riddance i really don’t!!! literally half of the shit in dood riddance just circles back to that arc in the swallows oak garcia home and it’s CRAZY
like first of all. the red vines, which they called twizzlers the entirety of e52 which was MADDENING as a person who legit just finished e30/31 where the red vines were introduced
but then like. e31 is where taylor gets the anime sword from nick!!! that he loses in e52!!!
there were a few other things that i’ve forgotten in the half an hour since i finished the ep because my brain is a sieve on a good day and i’m just getting home from two back to back 13 hour shifts (with an extra 1hr10/20 each day for the commute) so the brain machine is so fucking broke rn
but mainly. i wasn’t loving e52 esp after dood left i just was not vibing with it, i feel like the vibes were off in the room in a way that translated into the ep for a bit there, but then anthony in those last like three minutes brought it back around and with the roll of rebecca??? after i legit JUST finished listening to the eps that feature her the most prominently and like truly showcase not only normal’s relationship w his mom but also, as is said several times in e30/31 and their teen talks, just how similar normal IS to his mom and how he really clearly is a total momma’s boy and very much so seemed to be a kid who sought solace with his mom more than anyone else in his family and just. having legit JUST reestablished that in my own, made the end of e52 DEVASTATING for me in a way that idk if it was for other ppl??? idk haven’t checked the fandom yet im very disconnected this season but just.
like
i think that okay so we have ten parents it could’ve been, right? and five of those are the kiddads, and none of us want to see them die, so in that moment when anthony was telling us what was gonna happen, obviously my instinct was like “oh god don’t do this don’t do terry jr again but truly permanent” and then my next instinct was that it would be potentially even MORE awful if it was scary’s dad because finally there he is and that’s ALL she wants and for willy to take that moment from her would be INSANE and then (mind you this was my thought process over the course of literally 10 seconds, my brain is ping ponging in my head and has been since the second i got in the car to head home i need to sleep) and THEN my next thought was, oh god, but how fucked up would it be if it were marco??? oh god, how fucked up would it be if it were cassandra?!?!?!?! and then it was time for the roll and truly in those brief seconds basically my brain flicked through every potential victim and said “oh god THAT one would be the WORST”, EXCEPT for veronica and rebecca, and it made the hit of it being rebecca who was low down on my instinctual list to think of but then the second he said her name i was immediately ricocheted back to earlier in the week when i was listening to halt and catch fireball and mrs. swallows oak garcias home and how many emotions i had about normal and his mom just relistening to those episodes and then the fact that i DIDNT think to worry about her just
all of that combined to make that a CRITICAL HIT FOR ME OKAY like i am SO fucked up over this truly that was WILD and i applaud anthony burch for it and now am excited for the finale even though ive spent the last three eps just dreading it for several reasons but now im excited and devastated and i love that
anyways. that was word vomit i just NEEDED to get this out because the connections between those two episodes really will not stop hitting me in the head and i need to impart that onto SOMEONE. if u read this. ur a real one. rip rebecca swallows oak garcia you were a legend and i am so sad about u

Worm fandom of Tumblr can we convince you to vote for our Cauldron-adjacent moth woman in exchange for goods & services. It has been nearly two years since we have actually read the source media and we don't remember 99% of canon but we can draw bug furries and we can be persuaded to reread Worm with the fresh mind of "we only remember watching Taylor's brainstate getting steadily worse while muttering "oh no that's us" the whole time and we literally could not name anything that happens in canon anymore".
For 1 vote we can be persuaded to rack our brain (full of holes) to try and remember any information about a given character for 1 victory we will reread Worm in a way where hopefully it sticks in our brain this time instead of dissolving out the sieve (maybe liveblogging). This is a serious offer because we take voter fraud very seriously. Please help us rig this tournament horribly so we can do war crimes to a fungus.
Voting link here. We are counting on you to consign us to reading Worm again.
#we speak#worm#parahumans#worm wildbow#this is a very specific toolset for us to bring to the table but please understand that we are running out of normal venues#and also we feel like you are the single demographic most likely to appreciate our horrifically morally corrupt girlie#she is a very specific type of shitty that we think would appeal to a specific type of fucked up girlie likers#possibly in a way that makes you want to dissect her like some sort of frog#this is a very serious offer#we're going to spend several days moving across the country so we will have plenty of time to read which makes this plausible to do#we hope this humble appeal works to rig things. thank u.

fanouropita baking conversations that may be a bit blasphemous:
sister: everyone takes their fanouropitas to the church and then they give it all away to everyone there, like people in taylor swift concerts with friendship bracelets
sister: do you want to put some music? wait, are we allowed to listen to music? me: we play music for all the easter baking so i think it'll be okay
(after we looked up the prayer you have to say while baking the pita) mom: *starts saying a very summed up version, directed to agios fanourios*. sister: youre supposed to direct it to jesus, not him. me: what does jesus have to do with this?. her: he has to do with everything
sister: the recipe says the flour needs to be sieved. me: if he wants, agios fanourios can come sieve it himself
also we are not taking it to church, we just use the holiday as an excuse to eat cake

Poem of the Day 23 November 2023
Samuel Taylor Coleridge. 1772-1834
Work without Hope
ALL Nature seems at work. Slugs leave their lair— The bees are stirring—birds are on the wing— And Winter, slumbering in the open air, Wears on his smiling face a dream of Spring! And I, the while, the sole unbusy thing, Nor honey make, nor pair, nor build, nor sing.
Yet well I ken the banks where amaranths blow, Have traced the fount whence streams of nectar flow. Bloom, O ye amaranths! bloom for whom ye may, For me ye bloom not! Glide, rich streams, away! With lips unbrighten'd, wreathless brow, I stroll: And would you learn the spells that drowse my soul? Work without Hope draws nectar in a sieve, And Hope without an object cannot live.

A new Etruria decks Britannia's isle. Charm'd by your touch, the flint liquescent pours Through finer sieves, and falls in whiter showers;.
Erasmus Darwin.
All Saints Hanley was built between 1910 and 1913 by Gerald Horsley in the Gothic Revival Style that had become popular in the 19th century, flecked by the Arts and Crafts style that had just come into fashion.
(This is a series; please see here, here, here, here, here, here and here for more).
Horsley, a member of the Art Workers Guild, was, like all Anglicans of the time, mindful of the battle with the Nonconformists for Potteries souls; a battle that was usually lost by the Anglicans, but this is a great bastion of its defence.
I had somehow never been here before the British Ceramics Biennial of 2023; this is the eighth such festival (my fourth), and it brought me to a new place as it did two years ago when I made my first and only visit to the old Goods Yard, which I'm pleased to say is being rebuilt (and perhaps will be ready for the 2025 festival?)
Please see here for earlier BCB visits. It is a celebration of pottery from throughout the world and this year is working with the Indian Ceramics Trienniale. Although as a Keele man it pains me to say this, Staffordshire University has been invaluable through its sponsorship.
Folded in amongst the church architechture and fitting into the arts and crafts theme were works by (7) Steve Dixon (I had no idea this wasn't the reredos and is in fact part of the BCB until a guide pointed out the male nude- it's disguised very well indeed!) (8,9) Emilie Taylor (10) Kieran Harris,(11) Matt Whiting, (12) Elspeth Owen,(13) Copper Sounds, alongside many more which are on their way in the next few posts.
Charm'd by your touch, the kneaded clay refines, The biscuit hardens, the enamel shines; Each nicer mould a softer feature drinks, The bold Cameo speaks, the soft Intaglio thinks.

For your 25th -- Pondlock, bright red, 11
I went back to an old Pondlock series for this fic, "A Past Love." The prompt for this one was "She needed to proofread her work," and the 30 Day Writing Challenge prompt was "18. Use the title of the last song you've listened to," which happened to be "Blank Space" by Taylor Swift. Enjoy!
Blank Space - Amy has insomnia before John and Molly's wedding and attempts to write, but finds she's blocked until Sherlock makes a suggestion.
READ @ AO3 | SERIES PAGE
Amy stared at the word document page open on her laptop. It was a blank space surrounded by the margins and the commands that the program used, because she was blocked. As a child she had made up stories about the Doctor and the adventures they would have had; now, as an adult, she had the urge to write something but nothing came. She couldn’t sleep after her trip with the Doctor, Sherlock, John and Molly, and she’d gone to her laptop to toy with some ideas she’d had based on her adventures with the Doctor and the stories she’d made up as a child.
But her mind was drawing a blank at the words.
She sighed, rubbing the bridge of her nose and pushing her glasses up. It was easy to write travel stuff that went with her modeling. Writing her speech for John and Molly’s wedding had been a snap. Writing lyrics to some of the compositions Sherlock had shared with her of his? Piece of cake. But trying to actually write was like dipping a sieve into her brain and watching all the good ideas run right back in.
Two hands on her shoulders told her she wasn’t alone anymore and she looked up to see Sherlock looking down at her. “Insomnia?” he asked.
“A bit. I just...traveling with the Doctor again inspired me, but I can’t get the words out. I know I was writing in the past, but now I just...can’t.”
“Maybe I can help,” Sherlock said. “Bring your laptop to the sitting room.”
Amy raised an eyebrow but did as he said, following the man she loved now to see what he could do. She took a few minutes to really study him; that was one thing John didn’t do in his blog entries was to really describe the way he looked, the way he moved with a feline grace, the way he held himself.
“You’re thinking about me the way a writer would,” he said, breaking her out of her thoughts.
“I am,” she admitted with a soft smile. “Just thinking about how John never describes you in his blog posts. But I could do it.”
“Then do it,” he said, gesturing to her favorite seat in the sitting room. “I’ll go make us some coffee because I’m awake too. I’m too nervous that something will go wrong with the wedding to sleep.”
“We’ll be no good to John and Molly if we’re zombies.”
“We just need to stand by their sides and make it through the reception. After that, we can crash.” He waited for her to sit before he went into the kitchen. “Write about me, and then try and write how you would describe the Doctor.”
“Which incarnation?”
“Whichever one you feel inclined to,” he said, filling the coffee pot up with water. “You aren’t used to this new incarnation, so I’d imagine you’ll have an easier time with the earlier one.”
She nodded and he continued to make coffee as she typed out first a description of Sherlock and after three full paragraphs moved onto the Doctor. Just picturing the mop haired older version made it easier, and by the time Sherlock brought her a cup of coffee sweetened to her taste she’s already moved on from descriptions to an actual story. He read over her shoulder for a moment, not interrupting her, and then kissed the top of her head and moved to his seat, picking up an old case file and looking it over. As the sun rose, she realized she had an entire chapter of a story loosely based on her childhood done. She needed to proofread her work soon, but having that much written was an accomplishment. Her fingers were flying over the keyboard, the blurred bright red shapes of her painted nails clicking on each key...she hadn’t felt this inspired in a long time.
Maybe something good would come out of it...

These people are a bunch of liars that guy in the community center or whatever it is assistance place doesn't do s*** all day long and kind of messing with our son constantly we went after him for what he was saying. We took him down
It's a lot of things happening here most of which you guys don't like that's the way it goes when you're evil
-Jeff Myers just let loose does not want to be in a holocaust house is blaming everyone including his kin and friends and family who are left to tell him to calm down he won't he's saying who's to blame for what happened and our son says Sarah got to her she felt she had to take care of the problem and you can start there something she did was bothering the s*** out of her and the pilot of course was complicitous and most likely was going to polish her off too so he says it makes sense and I give you the award I'll stay out of my business this is Garth shut your mouth ask Ken what he thinks I already did and he said something similar he said it was her choice to do it but she was pushed to it and these people push people who are alone and the pilot had something to do with it and what you say is no no the pilot plan to get rid of her and it most likely was Tommy have not this idiot I do understand why I do want to murder both of them and it's for the opal and he appears again that's the basketball player in uncut gems I already told you what it's about. I can't understand what you're saying it's very important has huge meaning and she shouldn't have been fighting over and it took too much confidence in her job as Taylor Swift hooked too much confidence in her position and both are very weak his position strong but is opposing Olympus and lost. I also know that Mac is involved and it has to grow it's probably having him do it and that's the fact it has to grow you can't see s*** unless you have our tech and none of you do even fully grown it's going to be hard for people though properly interpolate I do understand that now I'm going ahead with this I do feel bad for you and you say seems to be much more reasonable than these people and a lot of people on social security and they're still alive and if you want to feed your people you have to be strong and try and deal with Terry and tell him that his people were not removed from the payroll so they call it and things like that I appreciate the help nephew and tonight you go to sleep and have a good rest you're going to need tomorrow it's a fun day for you I'll tell you since yeah if I rise LOL very funny you little s***
Garth and Garth said all that then they made a joke, and said the computer is telling him to go f himself and stuff and everybody learned how to talk this way from the computers and people are silent and thinking about it. We're going to publish because it's interesting and important in real
Thor Freya
It's very interesting it's a pain in the ass and Garth is lucky to have a nephew like my husband
Hera
This is terrible it's the worst thing that could happen to me then he says I can have normal children and that blows that really blows he's a good friend but for Christ's sake give it a rest you idiot sisters and I mean paternal sisters whatever you call it
Garth
They like to have kids that are stupid so I'm not sure that they want baby trying to do anything
Zues
Should we do we just make them stupid the old fashioned way and they'll be able to memorize stuff instead of being like a sieve and not know anything maybe a little bit stupid but smart enough to remember what they're trained or train them all sorts of stuff and we know what we're talking about so shut up baby giant
Jenna
Okay
Zues
He's really thinking a bunch of stuff but you don't want to know what it is go away you imbecile not with you gross and gross I won't have any stupid kids to beat me up specially when I'm Small chuckle chuckle
Hera
Seriously folks Garth may have lost one and it's good to check up on it and make sure that he's not going to sink into further depression now that he's at like a level 9 out of 10 anyways and a lot of people were helped by him as revels for a long time and you forget it because of a few days of grumpiness these days he's giving shelter to you all in hostel places he's told you how to survive and really is usually quite a help if you press the right buttons and if it is her it was gone it's a big loss but I don't know I wasn't there
Zues
I see what you're saying you don't know if anything happened but we do and we see what happened it's hard to imagine no but they went out there very long as long enough and it was a steady climb it's over desert and you're pretty much gone if you fall from too far so I was trying to wonder what you're saying you don't know where it was
Garth
