All of a sudden, your entire life changes.

You realize you're trapped in the past, stuck in the old idea you still have preciously stored in your head of how they used to be.

Y/N felt like she was losing a part of herself now that Harry was gone.

It was five years together after all. Five years of ups and downs, of laughter and tears, of happiness and anger, of dreams and nightmares.

But as much as she tried to find the butterflies she felt at the beginning in every detail of him, when the young woman looked at her long-time partner she could only see traces of what they once were.

Y/N quickly wiped her eyes with the back of her black long sleeve, putting on a forced smile. "Alex, hey! Oh, it's nothing, I'm okay. Don't worry."

"You were always a terrible liar, you know that?" The boy leaned against the wall, his eyes still fixed on hers. "You can talk to me, Y/N. I promise I'll take your secrets to the grave. Scout's honour!"

The young woman laughed. She knew that the driver was someone she could trust. After all, he had been a constant presence in her life for many years now through George, even if she was never that close to him.

"It's so... Stupid, I feel ridiculous." She confessed, looking up at the open sky and letting out a sad sigh. "Harry is seeing someone new."

"Harry as in your bore of an ex Harry?" She rolled her eyes but nodded yes. "Damn, already? Do you think... Do you think he was already seeing her before you split?"

"No, he wouldn't." The girl spoke. "The thing is neither of us was happy in that relationship, and I know we made the right choice, but... It doesn't hurt any less to see the person who was with you for years move on."

Not knowing exactly what moved him to do so, Alex let his hand run along her soft hair in an act of comfort. Y/N found herself feeling a familiar feeling in her stomach, although she wasn't sure what it was.

"Alex Albon, what an amazing motivational speech, who knew you were so poetic!" She made him laugh and then hugged him from the side, resting her face on his arm. "But really, thank you. I needed this."

"Anytime, little Russ." He rested his face on the top of her head momentarily, only to push away almost immediately. "So, ready to see your brother get his ass kicked today?"

Y/N felt her palms sweat as she walked next to the boy on their way to her brother, still confused about the sudden effect Thai had on her.

It's just a moment of weakness, it won't last, she tried to convince herself, he's your brother's best friend for God's sake.

From that moment on, and for some reason mysterious to both of them, they seemed to seek each other out whenever the occasion presented itself.

Y/N would purposefully extend her path to Mercedes on race days in hopes of passing Alex by Williams to wish him luck.

And boy, if Alex didn't make an effort to spend as much time outside the motorhome as possible praying that the girl who he couldn't get out of his head would show up, even if she always had George next to her.

In the middle of all their yearning, the two had started an unspoken tradition during the weeks that followed, which made them feel all warm and fuzzy inside in true puppy love fashion.

On another Sunday like all the others, Alex was lost in conversation with Lando in front of his team's motorhome when - to his shock - he saw the girl about to pass by him... Alone?

Leaving his friend behind with just a few words and a confused look on the British driver's face, Alex hurried over to her, putting his arm around the girl's shoulders.

"Well, well, well... What do we have here? A rare sight of Y/N without her bodyguard?" He spoke with a mischievous smirk.

"Yeah, looks like I got left behind today." Y/N chuckled, eyes twinkling in his direction.

"I never seem to get you alone around these parts. Is Georgie really that controlling?" Alex laughed, knowing full well that his friend had always been very protective of his sister. 

Yikes, if he only knew the way his best friend thought about her now.

"So you wanted to get me alone, unh?" Y/N teased the man, without controlling the flirtatious energy with which her question came out of her mouth.

Alex was taken aback but didn't hesitate to respond with the same tone. "And what if I wanted to?"

"Didn't know you were such a flirt, Albon!" She said, teasingly. "My brother, on the other hand, might not be very happy that his best friend is trying to make a move on his baby sister." The girl stated with a serious look, although her mouth still revealed a smirk.

"He doesn't need to know." The driver said as he started walking back to the building, but not before turning to her again and speaking. "If you don't have plans tonight, let's do something. What do you say?"

"I'll think about it." She said, grinning from ear to ear. "Good luck, lover boy."

Uh-oh, I'm falling in love, she realized as her heart pounded in her chest.

Y/N really thought of not going. 

It would've spared her the inevitable heartbreak she was going to go through when her brother eventually found out that she had feelings for Alex.

But on the spur of the moment, the young woman chose to worry about her fears later and take her chances, as she stormed out of her hotel room towards the driver's.

Y/N knocked on his door nervously and it only took a few seconds for Alex to show up, with only his shorts on, his hair dishevelled and his toned chest on full display.

"Y/N, you came," he said, an obviously surprised look on his face. "I thought you had bailed."

Oh great, he has someone in there with him, she thought as soon as she saw the strands of his golden hair all tousled. "Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't know you had company. I'm going to g-"

"What?" He asked lost until he realized the state he was in. "Oh no, no, no! I ended up falling asleep when I realized you weren't com- Or rather when I thought you weren't coming. Please, come in."

The girl entered the room, studying her surroundings while Alex put on a sweatshirt.

"I honestly had lost all hope that you were going to show up," He chuckled timidly. "But I'm so glad you proved me wrong."

After some discussion, the two ended up settling on ordering room service and rewatching The Office - obsessed with the show they had seen it dozens of times over the years - while they ate their late dinner sitting on his giant bed and talked to each other about everything.

"Why did you guys go cycling into the middle of the forest... If the brakes on the fucking bike didn't work?" Tears were now streaming down the girl's eyes, she was laughing so hard at the story Alex was telling her.

"Hey, stop laughing! I broke my collarbone!" The driver already felt stomach pains from laughing so hard and he pushed her until she fell backwards onto the mattress. "And you should know I saved your brother's ass! I gave him the good bike and that's how the universe thanked me!"

"Stop, stop!" She remained laying on the bed, arms hugging her stomach. "I can't laugh anymore or I swear I'll pass out."

Lying down next to her, Alex looked at the girl with passionate eyes. "I'm glad me breaking a bone at least made you break a smile."

At that moment, lost in his gaze, Y/N knew she was in too deep and there was no way back.

Now that the two had already crossed the line and they had spent time one on one, the two friends - or so they liked to call themselves, their feelings still hidden from both parties - were inseparable.

Whenever they could they found themselves together: whether it was within four walls late at night just enjoying each other's company, or exploring cities around the world after getting rid of George with a lame excuse.

So, when Y/N received a message from the driver inviting her to dinner, she wasn't surprised or questioned anything.

It was at a restaurant where the two had already been several times in Monaco along with other friends, so the girl just assumed that the same would happen this time around too.

However, hours later, when she questioned George about his plans for that evening - convinced that her question would spark a debate about rides to the restaurant - the words that came out of his mouth quickly made her realize that she had the wrong idea all along.

"I'll probably just stay home and play with the boys. Well, other than Alex, apparently he has a hot date today with some girl he's been all mysterious about."

A d- d- date. Was this supposed to be a date?!

"Oh." She felt her face go white in shock, something that thankfully went unnoticed by her brother as he was glued to his phone. "I- I'll be right back."

The girl ran upstairs to her room and grabbed her cell phone to reread Alex's message.

what do you think about dinner with your favourite guy tonight at blue bay, 7pm? 👀 

All of a sudden, her palms got sweaty, her heart rate started to increase, and she started to feel apprehensive.

Of course, she had already come to terms with the fact that she had feelings for him but him liking her back?

Surely it was nothing more than a misunderstanding and tonight was nothing more than a dinner between friends.

The hours passed and she found herself dolled up in a simple long blue dress on her way to where Alex was waiting for her completely alone and more beautiful than ever.

It was a date, there was no question about it.

Alex held out his hand for her to help her out of the taxi and kept it in Y/N's as he looked at her in astonishment. "Jesus, you- You look... Incredible. Fucking incredible really. Shall we go in, little Russ?"

With the simple use of the nickname he always used, Y/N closed herself within her walls as she remembered how wrong she was for going after Alex on her brother's back.

And with that remembrance alone, the date was already ruined before it even started.

For a couple of hours, the two sat at a glamorous table making small, forced talk. Even Alex gave up trying to keep the conversation going when he realized she wasn't feeling it.

The driver felt like the dumbest person on the planet at that moment: not only had he broken his best friend's trust, but he had done it just to have his heart broken in the end.

The silence continued on the ride home, with Alex offering to drive her back like a true gentleman even after the whole dinner fiasco. After a few torturous minutes, he stopped the car and she put her hand on the door handle so fast his heart only shattered more.

"Well, thanks for dinner." She said, her eyes glued to her lap afraid to face him. "I- I'll see you soon, good night."

Alex saw her get out of his Mercedes but unable to accept that this was it, the driver jumped out of the driver's seat towards her. "Wait!"

The girl turned back, coming face to face with the dishevelled image of the boy rushing towards her.

"What went wrong tonight?" Alex asked distraught, letting his hand run through his hair. "I thought I was pretty clear that I cared a lot about you. Hell, I thought you felt the same way. Did I misunderstand things between us that badly all these months we spent together?"

Oh no, I'm falling in love again, she thought to herself and dread filled her from top to bottom like a shiver.

"I'm sorry, Alex," She said, still unable to look at him, especially now that tears were threatening to fall from her eyes. "But I just can't do this right now."

And without even answering, Alex simply walked away.

After spending months on end talking every day, it all became radio silent.

Y/N couldn't help but blame herself for ending up hurt. He'd put his heart on the line and confronted the undeniable feelings between them, only for her to let fear drive her and ruin everything.

She was the only one responsible for the sudden lump she felt in her throat, for the heaviness of her heart and for the wave of sadness that hit her.

It only got worse when a week later she saw his misery-written face on yet another race weekend, as she got choked with tears, thanks to the painful distance now set between them.

One week turned into two and those feelings of hopelessness and melancholy were still in the air, something that did not escape George's watchful eye.

Taking his place on the sofa next to the girl wrapped in a blanket drinking tea, the elder Russell sat down without much care and let out an exhausted sigh.

"Crikey, what's up with everyone? I swear you've all been in a bad mood lately." He said, without getting a response back. "Did you and Alex plan to get all depressed together or something? Jesus."

The girl gulped at 'her and Alex' and 'together' being in the same sentence, as she tried to keep her concentration on the movie that was on TV.

"He's been all upset since he went on that date I told you about. Apparently, it was a complete failure and now I'll never know who the girl was." George laughed, shaking his head. "I never understood the secrecy. It's not like he went out with you or som-"

Unconsciously, Y/N turned her face towards the large glass window embarrassed but quickly realized that her reaction had given her away.

"Oh, my God," George spoke slowly, trying to accept what he had just realized. "It was you?"

"It doesn't matter now." She finally seemed to get her voice back. "It was a silly decision but it's over anyways."

"What happened?"

"It's over, I told you. I never should have even developed feelings for him." Y/N looked into her brother's eyes, tears forming. "I knew he was your best friend and I still didn't put a stop to things. I'm so so sorry, G."

"Y/N…" The driver leaned against the back of the sofa and brought his hand to his forehead. "Please tell me you didn't break his heart because you thought I would be bothered by you guys going out."

The two sat silently contemplating each other's words until George spoke. "Little sis, I'm sorry to break it to you but I think things have gone too far just by looking at your broken faces these past days."

Oh, he's right, I'm definitely falling in love, she finally accepted.

"Alex is one of the best people I know and I trust him with my life. I couldn't ask for a better person to be by my sister's side if you guys love each other." The man said, his hands resting on each of her shoulders. "Go for it and get him back."

Speeding as if her life depended on it, Y/N reached the house of the boy who had her heart and knocked incessantly on his door.

"Calm down, who the f-" Alex opened the door, ready to argue with the person on the other side until he realized it was her. "Y/N."

"Before you send me away, please listen to what I have to say." Y/N pleaded while Alex observed the girl. 

She was in his doorway, still wearing her pyjamas, fluffy pink slippers on her feet, with a beanie and a scarf that she at least remembered to grab on her way out or she wouldn't have survived the cold.

"I was a complete idiot for letting you go that night. What I should have done was run after you, begged for a second chance and told you that I'm falling for you and have been since the day you found me crying in the back of that motorhome."

"I was at my worst and you still managed to put me back together and turn it right around. You are literally the man of my dreams. You have everything I want and need in a partner, and I never should have let this drag on for so long in the first place. So please, give me a chance to show you how happy and great we can be together."

The two seemed frozen at the moment, with their hearts on their sleeves and eyes filled with love and hope for a happy ending, until they heard someone from inside the house clearing their throat.

Turning to face his living room, Y/N now noticed the group of drivers - and unfortunately friends of her brother as well - with sly smiles on their faces. "Oh God, please kill me now."

"It was quite the speech, Russell, but maybe we should go." Lando spoke, grinning at the girl, as he, Charles, Pierre and Carlos left the apartment.

"I will never show my face in the paddock again." She said to Alex, covering her face with her hands.

The Thai affectionately removed her hands, intertwining them with his, and approached her, with a smile the size of the world. "I don't know. I agree with Lando, it was quite the speech indeed."

Without thinking twice, and before he could change his mind, Y/N placed her lips on his in a kiss that both of them had been craving for months.

And the moment their mouths met, they both discovered what it was like to feel that one person was their home.

"What about George?" Alex questioned, pulling away slightly from her.

"He almost pushed me out of the house to come here and make things right." The girl laughed, circling the tall boy's waist with her arms.

"Well, little Russ, looks like I'm going to have to buy Georgie dinner as a 'thank you'." He chuckled, grateful for his best friend. "Or should I say, my future brother-in-law?"

"Calm down, lover boy. I've been here for a few minutes." They laughed together, wrapped up in each other. "We have all the time in the world to think about the future."

Sometimes it only takes one painful heartbreak to help us see we are worth so much more than we're settling for.

AH OMG ANON TRUST I'VE BEEN DYING TO POST IT! thanks so much for asking about it!

this is my sub!logan fic title, and it's a line from the movie bones and all! with loml taylor russell as maren and timothee chalamet as lee. plus it's also directed by luca guadagnino, who's one my favorite directors ever!

spoiler alert even though it came out like two years ago lmao, but the two main characters are both cannibals and lee says that line to maren near the end of the movie.

i tweaked it slightly, the whole thing is “I want you to eat me. I want you to feed. It's the easiest thing, Maren, love. Just love me and eat me, bones and all."

i felt that this fit the vibe of what this fic has turned into over the course of like two days haha, because what started as a little exploration of logan’s softer, more submissive side somehow got wrapped up in this dark, messy passion—hence, the "just love me and eat me" part.

the whole fic plays with this raw intensity and that sense of desire that kind of burns at both ends. it’s a mix of logan’s vulnerability and this hunger, emotional and physical, that just needs to be fed.

let me quit yapping...but it's such a good movie! i highly recommend watching if you think you can stomach it :)

His grip on your waist finally tightens, fingers pressing into your skin just enough to feel that edge of need—the need to let go. “You’ve been taking care of me all day,” you murmur, scratching your nails along his scalp softly. “Now let me take care of you.” You feel him shudder, a weak groan bursting from his slack lips. His hazy eyes search your face, pupils blown out and seeping into the warm hazel color like an oil spill over a lake. You tilt your head, lips grazing the stubble on his jawline, moving slowly, deliberately, until you can capture his mouth in a kiss. It’s soft at first, gentle, but you feel him melt into it, the sharp edge of his restraint crumbling as he kisses you back with a kind of hunger that fuels you. Logan’s hands slide up your back, fingers curling into the fabric of your shirt as you take control, deepening the kiss, coaxing him further into the moment. His mouth is warm and urgent against yours, the scrape of his teeth along your bottom lip sends a thrill down your spine.  His lips move over yours with a reverence that makes your chest tighten, as if each slick glide of your lips is an apology, a promise, and a plea all rolled into one. So, in response to tags on this post re: a Daniel Henney/Navarre Ladyhawke scenario, I have been thinking for DAYS on who else one would cast.

To make it fun you really want to set boundaries. Stick to a) people you can cast now (it's not open choice eg you can't cast Gene Tierney then with DH now, it has to be both here and now), and b) be of an equivalent career profile (aka you can't cast some rando from an advertisment), and c) stick within the general vibe and age range of the original narrative. However point c) has really challenged me, as I looked up the ages of the original cast for comparison and it has not satisfied me re: contemp. casting.

For example, Rutget Hauer was 41, and Michelle Pfeiffer was 27. Daniel Henney is 44, so far so good, but then when I went looking at actors in the 27 year age bracket I get like the Ella Purnells and Daisy Edgar Joneses and Anya Taylor Joys of the world? I get that people who notably played teens on screen recently are not actual teenagers, i do know this... but the idea of casting, like, one of the flashback Yellowjackets vs Daniel Henney (44) bores me to tears. BORES ME to TEARS. Navarre/Isabeau, despite sharing very little screentime, have a feeling of being adults of an equivalent experience/confidence/capability, perhaps because they are both the Adults when compared to Philippe's Youth, and the Bishop's and Imperius' Age. Phillipe has to seem like a teenager to her, but he'll be a mid-20's actor already so like I'm not super keen on casting gorgeous models who have yet to see the fun side of 30.

But also like Zöe Robins is in her early 30s and the vibe they have in WoT seems dynamic and interesting between them, so I'd not averse to ZR as Isabeau for for funsies, and just have a WoT LadyhawkeAU. However, I scouted around by going up a decade for the hell of it.

Front runners are: Jodie Turner Smith (you definely go 'holy shit that is the Face of Love', and she can play a quiet dignity combined with a 'i do what i want' vibe); hard to miss Keira 'queen of costume' Knightley (you KNOW she could do it, and she does 'pining and pissed off' so well); but my fave is Sofia Boutella - Isabeau does a lot of no-dialogue scenes of her Looking and Reacting to things, rolling her eyes at Phillipe, thinking about things silently, and Pining, and Boutella is a spectacular no-dialogue actor. She has a dance background, so no surprise I guess. I mean she's been in a lot of action-heavy stuff with minimal/expository dialogue, and you can SEE her feelings. She can do angry and vulnerable and quiet in combination. She can rock a 'i cut my own hair off' look like no problem.

Imperius is Simon Russell Beale. I just like to see him in everything.

Casting Phillipe the Mouse is impossible. IMPOSSIBLE. Ladyhawke is essentially a 2-hander, times 2, because Isabeau and Navarre can't interact due to the uhhhhh central premise of the movie. That means the actual on-screen chemistry has to be between Isabeau|Phillipe, and Navarre|Phillipe (| or / depending on your chemstry preferences I guess).

Due to the age range, you're looking at bascially the kind of people who get cast as one of the kids in Stranger Things, and I recoil. Broderick's entire brand is built on having so much Ferris Bueller youthful rocket-fuel charisma he literally defined the man-child archetype at 23. I cannot think of anyone working now in that age bracket who I would not immediately tell to STFU anytime they were on screen. Idk, find some kid who is live on stage as Billy Elliot or in Matilda right now somewhere, that's probably your best bet

Him being so public.. I think the messaging is that if he is hanging out with younger/looking people then he looks or seems younger next to them? I have to admit that’s going to be hard for him since time has not been kind to his face or hairline. It’s obvious he’s super eager to be seen as youthful nowadays. But the stank vibes he’s giving off is that old dude who hangs around high schools waiting for girls to graduate.

i think he wants to be seen with "cool" people and get his name in the papers for "good" reasons aka being seen with women. he doesn't have a life or do anything besides so this is always a PR moment for him.

i also think he likes being seen with women because it underscores that he's no longer with a previous woman that he was with. you know those taylor russell having a baby tinhats are having a moment.

I have my playlist for Finn, of songs that remind me of her as a character and person in the world of fiction, but often wonder what music choices she would enjoy? More specifically, is she a Swiftie and if so, what is her favorite album/era? 

I tend to lean on the notion of her being a big time Reputation girlie. For obvious reasons. Even though Bad Blood is on 1989, it is a strong contender for a song that fits her personality and outlook on life a little bit too well. Ready For It, Endgame, I Did Something Bad, Don’t Blame Me, Look What You Made Me Do, Getaway Car, This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things, I mean, the titles alone just vibe with everything Finn was, reckless, trouble making, followed by semi apologetic behavior but oftentimes, no regrets, no fucks given, the whole shebang, etc. The order of the songs sort of tells a story that fits Taylors narrative, but Finn’s as well. If she was listening to these songs, if these worlds collided, fiction and reality, would she see herself in Taylors music? Would she enjoy it? Buy the CD’s and merch? I’d like to believe that’s a hard yes. 

But there’s a softer side to Finn that can be reflected in the songs featured on albums like 1989, Lover, Folklore, Evermore and the rest. She would absolutely tear it up to Shake It Off, she would feel deeply for All Too Well, Exile, Willow, Lover, etc. She would have many strong thoughts on the topic of The Man, because fuck the patriarchy, don’t even get me started on Vigilante Shit in the context of CSI on Fire and other previous rule breaking jaunts, maybe a bit too relatable babe. My highlights from a reading in Taylor Russell and Harry Styles yesterday, Nov. 14:

He’s starting to see her negative or dark side. (So, essentially leaving the honeymoons phase).

Vibes from Harry toward her are stable and calm.

He sees her as a good friend and he’s seeing the relationship clearly, as in not fantasizing about it.

The reader sees that he’ll try to influence or change or mold her somehow, to his lifestyle, values or moral compass. She’ll be resistant to this change and try to prove her point.

She sees him as husband material and hopes for a family or thinks it might be a possibility.

She has a lot of feelings towards him, some that she hasn’t really explored. She’s wondering if it’s true love. It feels different from her past relationships.

The next phase of their relationship involves arguments.

Right now they’re traveling and making plans together.

They’ll keep going out and developing their relationship slowly. They may act more like friends.

She may walk away from him because of these changes she’s revisiting, whether temporarily or forever remains to be seen.

Bones and All

Maren, a young woman, learns how to survive on the margins of society, and Lee, a disenfranchised drifter, embarks on an oddyess to solve her craving for human flesh.

Who would have thought a forbidden love story between two cannibals would be so heartfelt? Besides the explicit body horror and consumption, this film is surprisingly tender. Bones and All explores the morality and conflict of cannibalism through our main protagonist, who hates herself for committing this horrible act. Even though she is partially a victim because it was passed down to her and caused her immense suffering with each bite. This was entirely unexpected. However, on the other side, Guadagnino does not hide the horrors of cannibalism of those truly messed up in the head. I was expecting a body horror, but instead, I got a very human story.

Taylor Russell gives a fantastic performance as she navigates the harsh reality of her "condition." She masterfully portrays her character's inner conflict in an incredibly touching manner. Timothee Chalamet is again tremendous in this role. Like Russell perfectly portrays that inner moral conflict. However, I think my favorite performance came from Mark Rylance, who is undeniably creepy in this role. His performance sent chills down my spine, and having only a few minutes of screentime, gives the most memorable performance that might sneak him in for an Oscar nomination.

The cinematography of this film is absolutely gorgeous. The Kodak film was dazzling on the big screen. Easily one of the best-looking films of the year. The score's ability to switch from calming acoustic vibes to unsettling horror was brilliant and further added to the film's theme of cannibalism.

Overall, Bones and All was not the film I was expecting. I was expecting a cannibal horror movie with a twisted love story. However, I got a story of the human condition.

I am giving Bones and All, an A-.

I have people in mind for the cast of my WIPs, but I am fully aware that they might be too old, or not tall enough, or any other manner of obstacles. The following are my 'head canon cast' - the people I'd put in a gifset in a 'movie magic' kind of casting.

For the Adventures of Sitora Lux:

Sitora - Dianna Agron

I have had such a hard time finding an actor who has the youthful, unassuming joy that I picture in Sitora. Dianna has it. The main thing that I'd look for in casting Sitora would be her smile. Never mind that she's 5'5" and Sitora's a cool 6'. That's what movie magic is for 😂

Raelynn Thenorin - Danielle Rose Russell

Saw a gifset on Tumblr and just thought "That's my Raelynn". In particular, her bone structure just makes her look so much like how I pictured Rae. ❤️

Lance Marrowstone - Malachi Kirby

Just look at my boy! Lance is a major sweetheart and a badass fighter, and it was important to me that I choose a Black British actor for him.

Trix - Brenda Song

Brenda is who I pictured when I wrote Trix, and she's just got that glamorous, superior look down pat. She's older than the character is supposed to look, but we have time powers here.

It's very uncool how much Timepiece Chardonnay suits my protagonist: he's got that baby face and the typecasting of being a brooding lil guy. But part of me really does want to see him go completely feral and murder a 300lb Viking.

I was agonising about the casting for Matthew when I realised that I literally named him after Matthew from Downton Abbey. Is it any coincidence that Dan is the perfect fit? I've been on Pinterest literally staring at gifs of my blorbo for days now.

I don't know how to tell you that Silas Chrissie is somewhere near the midpoint of Aaron Taylor Johnson's 2012-2022 detwinkification process. Also, Silas is NOT meant to look this good with a moustache.

Jacques de Éloïe - Louis Garrell

A jawline built for angst. Big brown universe eyes to get lost in. That's my boy!

Loretta Cramps - Helen George

Can rock a period look? Check. Can rock a bob? Check. Totally nails Loretta's down-to-earth, smartest-person-in-the-room vibe? Yes!

Amanda Suffolk - Jessica Chastain

Absolutely frothing at the mouth for Jessica Chastain in any period pieces. The only problem with her taking on Amanda as a fairly small role is that she would totally steal the show.

Look, this whole exercise does make me a little uncomfortable. Am I going to get cancelled in the future if any of these actors end up being problematic? Maybe. Is this an official 'author's endorsement' for casting my stuff? Hell no, this is just so my followers can see who I see in my head. A small part of me does find this desperately creepy too >_< but also it's been fun.

Bones and All - Review (Spoiler Free)

So I’ve taken a couple days to really process what I’ve seen and now I’m ready to talk about Bones and All!

I love horror, and I love Chalament so a horror film with Chalamet? Sign me the fuck up! I was really excited to see this movie. Like couldn't wait for the release excited, so I started looking up festivals that were playing it to see if I could go to one and see it early excited. I got lucky and found one near-ish bought tix and was counting down the days to see it. And my screening had a Q&A with Luca, a bunch of the cast and the composers (pic below) ! The movie was also getting overwhelmingly positive reviews , so all of this combined with my anticipation should have set me up to really love this film right?  Right??

Unfortunately, no.... No. It did not. I did not enjoy this film. I really wish I did, and maybe I’ll like it more after a second viewing, but my initial thought was “what the fuck did I just watch”

See there’s a big difference between hearing a movie is about cannibalism and seeing a movie about cannibalism. If its unclear to anyone reading this , they are definitely straight up killing people and eating people in this movie. And there are many, many close-up shots of characters eating hunks of flesh off a recently deceased or still living body. To be fair, to sum the movie up to just being about cannibalism is incredibly reductive. More broadly its really supposed to be a love story about finding someone who loves and accepts you as you are and how that can change your life, but I'll talk more about that that later.

Putting the cannibalism of it all aside... I will say that because its a Luca Guadagnino film, predictablity the film is beautifully made. There is something so arresting about the contrast of such a beautiful film with such violent subject matter. Also because it's Luca, he can get incredible composers like Trent and Atticus to make a fantastic score on a small budget. And again, because its Luca, and he’s able to get some of the best actors in the world to work for him on a small budget. The performances in this movie are all top notch. Not a single weak link. Mark Rylance  plays a really creepy, almost endearing, older man that takes an incredible turn. Timmy is classic Chalamet in this; vulnerable, charismatic, a little awkward at times, incredibly sexy in others, emotional and ultimately utterly devastating. Taylor Russell is just stunning. The camera freaking loves her and she has this uniqueness about her, unlike any other actress I’ve seen lately. Like a quiet power, a kind of commanding meekness? I don’t know how to describe it. It was giving me strong early J-law winters bone era vibes.

Back to the romance bit. My main issue with this film is the Taylor and Timmy pairing. I just did not get romantic chemistry between these characters. The movie doesn't give you much time to see it blossom, we're just meant to believe that it happened and it's like "oh they're in love now". There was more chemistry between Timmy’s character and another character in the middle of the story than there was between these two, and I think that is one of the reasons the movie didn’t work for me as a whole. If the movie is really about finding solace and through love and connection despite your flaws, then audience really needs to buy the romance. Because cannibalism is a one hell of a flaw to overlook. But I wasn't invested in their romantic relationship at all. I would have been more, dare I say sympathetic to them eating people lol and down to ship it even if I was. But since I wasn’t invested I was left feeling like "uhhhh is no one going to arrest them??? They're dangerous!!"

I will definitely be going to see it again when its officially released in theaters, but as of now I am left scratching my head. What is everyone else is seeing that I am missing? This should have been right up my alley so I went in expecting to be fed, but I left feeling famished.

Roberto's Spooky Season Binge 2024: Bones and All

I'm back and boy am I pumped about this one! HORROR ROMANCE! Ahh!!! Yes, I'm a sucker for all things bloody and romantic, so when I stumbled upon Bones and All I was very excited. Cannibalism and angsty young romance? Any lover of the macabre would tell you they go together like peanut butter and jelly, and this is simply one of the latest in a long line of stories that plays with these themes. My spoiler thoughts and review below!

Okay so I have to make one thing clear before we move forward. I'm VERY partial to the themes and narratives in this movie. This is the kind of fucked up tragic romance that I fell in love with in high school, and even now at 30 years old I can't get enough of them. That should give you somewhat of an idea of what kind of vibe this movie is going for. It's VERY emo, idealistic, raw, and disturbing in the ways Stephanie Meyer could only hope to aspire to when she wrote Twilight. So if that's not your cup of tea, this movie will likely not change your tune on YA horror romance. But for fans of the genre, rejoice! This is a superb addition to the canon!

The film is beautifully shot, capturing the sprawling country roads in a dreamy haze throughout this road trip flick. The cinematography works along with the subtle writing and delicate performance to give an almost poetic feel to the whole film. And my god, the performances. Taylor Russell is SCARY good in this as Maren, so good in fact that she even manages to outshine her always magnetic co star Timothy Chamalet, who himself puts on a fantastic performance as Lee, her love interest. Their chemistry is key to this films success. Without the deep connection and genuine love, the story becomes too grotesque to stomach. Make no mistake about it, this is a disturbing movie, but it seldom feels that way due to its sweet protagonists and their growing love for one another in their desperate search for meaning.

Maren is a cannibal who is abandoned by her father shortly after her 18th birthday. The viewers introduction to her, um, condition is shocking, but before we're given much time to react, Maren is almost immediately left alone to fend for herself. All she has is some petty cash, her birth certificate, and a tape recorded by her dad telling her the truth about her condition. Themes of self hate and a desperate search for meaning are nothing new to the YA romance genre, and the correlations between cannibalism and youthful strife draw themselves. The metaphors at work here are nothing new, but where this film succeeds is in its self identity, it's core relationship. And that's where Lee comes in

It's easy to understand why Maren and Lee are almost immediately drawn to one another. Their both sad, loner drifters who hate themselves because of their cannibalism and ,like, they're both attractive kids. So duh. But the film also makes it easy to root for them. Their conversations are crooked and awkward, but also dreamy and dripping with longing. Again, one must highlight the insane chemistry between the two actors. Seeing Lee break down shaking in tears after admitting to eating his father while Maren takes his sobbing face and kisses him deeply until he stopped shaking was intense and beautiful. And don't get me started on my favorite quote of the whole movie:

For me, the climax of the film was Maren finally meeting her mother. I'll be brief on this because I don't want to spoil much, but holy shit that was INTENSE. Seeing what became of her mother, who is also a cannibal, was GUT-WRENCHING and also easily the scariest scene in the whole movie, at least to me. This was Maren's last hope of trying to find answers from those who were supposed to love and care for her, and what she found was horror and a life not worth living. But instead of having this kill the hope inside of her, it only strengthens her relationship with Lee, who she soon comes to realize is the only person in her life who has ever treated her like a person and not a monster.

And now for my least favorite part of the film, Sully, the creepy old stalker cannibal who attempts to befriend Maren early on. Obviously insidious, but confusingly jolly, it's hard to get a good read on old Sully when we're first introduced to him. As a viewer, your immediately suspicious of an old white man trying to lure an 18 year old girl into a house, but I don't know, maybe something about the performance makes it hard to see what the film is trying to go for with his character. He is terrifying, though, and him calling Maren a cunt towards the end I guess firmly cements this confused looking old cannibal as a vile creep. Perhaps he's better fleshed out in the novel this film is based on, but unfortunately I feel like his character distracts from the otherwise great drama. Having him be the reason this tale becomes a tragedy is somewhat underwhelming, but it ultimately serves it's purpose. Of course Maren and Lee couldn't live happily ever after, so having Lee be fatally wounded during Sully's attack on Meran seemed like a logical catalyst for the tragedy of this tragic love story. And I guess I shouldn't be too upset, because holy shit what a way to end it. "I want you to eat me Maren. Bones and all." THIS IS CINEMA.

Final Rating: 9.3

This kind of horror romance is definitely an acquired taste and some may find it cheesy. But for me, this movie hit on nearly every level. Beautiful mixed with grotesque visuals, great writing, and picture perfect performances solidify this movie for me as a can't miss and is a perfect choice for a spooky date night!

How do we know if they are dating and not just working with him in the studio some way? The only thing that makes me think they aren't dating (apart from the fact the sun’s source was a fan) is that she is only 25 and Harry isn't one those younger. Kendall and Taylor Russell were the only ones younger (Taylor Russell only 5 months younger).

But what Harry is into, is bringing new fresh artists into his work to open them up to a bigger following, so that seems like a possibility as well.

25 is really not THAT young lol? Harry’s 30? And she’s been working professionally since 2017 so she has a pretty established vibe going on actually like it’s not like she released her first song earlier this year. She released her first LP last year and it went to #4 in the UK but she had multiple EPs before that and had charted prior to that. Like, she’s very much got her own career going on lol: she just played Glasto on the pyramid stage, she’s in the middle of a completely sold out headlining world tour (obviously not a stadium tour but!???), has been nommed for a Mercury Prize, has three Brit Award nominations in big categories tbh and ELTON JOHN has done a s/o to her? I didn’t know about her until this morning but that speaks to my lack of musical knowledge lol and nothing else because she’s very much not some obscure ass person lol he found on Spotify? Harry has famously never collabed in his solo career thus far - he gets new people in to help write and produce but I doubt she’d write for him since she’s very much into her own music/the female perspective etc and I doubt he’d write for her because she writes all her own stuff and he has found obscure openers but her vibe isn’t really an “opening for Harry” vibe and besides which he’s not planning to tour at the moment?

I don’t think they are planning a wedding or anything like that at all but I would say they’ve been on at least one date (the one we know about), maybe a few more (they both do go undercover), and are seeing where it goes? She’s had to leave the UK for the Asian leg of her tour so we won’t see them for a bit unless he goes there to see her which would make it more serious than my current guess would be at.

The only real reason to deny this is if you’re a Tayruss widow (who very much exist but I’m ngl like I feel like I relate to a few anons who say they just can’t gaf about Joe now that they broke up - I think Tayruss is lovely and very pretty but I see no reason to widow that relationship lmao because even when I tried to find stuff out about Tayruss it was quite challenging and I learned more about Olivia in one morning than I learned about Taylor in the entirety of the Bones and All promo period and her rs with Harry) or a Larry lol.
