when blake caught her voice it was ragged and worn, trembly like she was forcing herself not to cry.   ‘   i wouldn’t have done that if you’d told me.   ’   she didn’t feel like she needed to clarify   ;   had ilia chosen to reveal her affections, their sequence of events might have turned out a whole lot differently.   ‘   you can’t keep holding what i didn’t know against me.   ’   felid was afraid to look at her now, memories transported back to her time in their troupe. bad memories full of bad decisions. there had been no end to the bloodshed, the murder, the transformation into the part of herself blake despised. she wasn’t thinking clearly anymore, because despite how far she’d come, paranoia held blake’s neck in a vice grip and refused to let go. she still had so much work to do in order to atone.   ‘   did you think about me the same way the rest of the troupe did too   ?   did you believe i was sleeping my way up the ranks because they all believed my papa was incompetent   ?   ’

amber eyes narrowed, lips pressed into a thin line to stop them from wobbling. she stared off into the distance the same way ilia did, internally screaming that she shouldn’t have been pulling apart one of the best things that had come out of all the heartache menagerie wrought. there had been merit to what the members of the white fang said while they thought she couldn’t hear, or even when she could. blake’s ideals had been flimsy. she wanted equality and peace, but had turned her back on that notion when her parents left. after that, she’d turned her back on the notion of equality through force when it was made clear adam didn’t love her like she’d once wanted him to. those summer flings had been momentary escapes, but in the end it just added onto her unreliable persona. they believed her a cunning and manipulative beauty who could sway the hearts of those she touched with but a flutter of her eyelashes. maybe it would have made her life easier if it was.

blake brought a hand to her mouth, face scrunching up in pain when she realised the accusation that had passed her. ilia had been the only one that didn’t isolate her, how could blake even entertain the thought    ?

What in the fuck. Do people ACTUALLY think CRWBY has either the balls or the tact to portray a topic like pedophilia? Like... noooo loves, they're just fucking idiots that can't maintain a timeline so they screw up things that should be concrete like ages. And RT is so heavy-handed with sensitive topics, you'd KNOW if the supposed disparity between Adam and Blake's ages was intentional.

They can't even write racism and abuse properly, are we seriously gonna say that this team of idiots could write something as serious as paedophilia.

Also Blake has NEVER shown anything about sexual assault. The time it would've been a good time to show it if the writers intended it was the talk with Yang in the Brunswick Farm shed, when they were talking about Adam. All that she said?

That he made her feel small, that canonically, no matter how much we may hate it and feel that it diminishes the racism storyline by having an abuse storyline override it, Adam was emotionally and mentally abusive to Blake. Add onto their attempt at gaslighting in the short, that Adam went after her family and tried to isolate her again, and he was an abusive partner.

But there has never been any attempt of Blake to talk about something as serious as sexual assault. Not even to Yang. This was not intentional writing, but because the writers hate giving ages and the FNDM keeps taking VA headcanon as canon, Adam and Blake's relationship has unfortunate implications until his age is confirmed.

Until then, canonically Tauradonna is not a pedophillic ship. You can talk about how it's an abusive relationship, but let's not start talking about something as serious as this when most do it just to further trash on Adam.

I think the fans did not like that Adam was a black villain because until now he and his group, although not in the correctly way, are the only ones who have drawn attention to the discrimination as a problem to solve. The rest of the faunus and the series themselves make it appear that this is one more aspect of life and justified in an understandable fear of someone different and that what must be done is to adapt until they respect you.

The discrimination in RWBY is not the axis of the story and the series does not have the time, but until now they only have given to us forgettable and fleeting scenes, especially considering the effort that R.T. posing in make the W.F. (and only the W.F) the great and pure villains of the problem.

I like to found someone who can talk about Tauradonna without sticking bile .I understand that you believe that the redemption or defeat of Adam should not only revolve around to Blake as a couple. I agree since both represent two contrasting positions on an old social problem.

But I do not know if I would like that both to return as a couple (instead of just fixing their relationship) after the damage they have done to the other. As well as make Adam appear as a guy who “came out of nowhere” and is purely evil without a social context or background.

Yeah, it got to be a complicated subject (as it usually does with this sort of thing).

The realistic part of me realizes that Blake & Adam are never getting back together in Canon. There’d be too much fan backlash and RT tends to cater to the fans a bit. She’ll probably end up with Sun, since that’s where 90% of the romantic hints have been heading.

The hopeless romantic side of me who loves Beauty & the Beast however, will continue to ship Tauradonna to my little old heart’s content on the sidelines. XD

I do look forward to more of Adam as a character. He had a magnificent villainous breakdown in the series and I’d either like to see him come back from it and be redeemed, or get 100x worse and give me the yandere sociopath we all know he can be! (’cause I like those sorts of villains).

Adam Taurus’ Character Allusion

Now I'm not here to argue about Adam’s portrayel , whether he was poorly or amazingly written.

No, frankly there is something more pressing I need to get off my chest.

So by now I'm sure people know Adam is supposed to allude to the Beast like Blake alludes to Beauty, but for some reason there are people who deny it. I don’t whether it because of hating the Tauradonna implications, not liking associating Adam to the Beast due to nostalgia(I understand if it’s that I certainly don’t like associating Cinder to Cinderella), or something else but honestly it’s kind of annoying especially when people try to change it either by

A) Saying Adam is Gaston(Which is like the stupidest thing ever it’s like saying Winter alludes to Elsa)

B) Saying either Blake herself or Yang is the Beast(I’m gonna ignore my desire to go off on a rant about Bumbleby because I’m tired of that being the focus)

Look regardless of your ship and even if you just hate Adam that’s not the point, the point is that Adam alludes to the Beast and that’s final. Really even if we didn’t know already we could make the assumption I mean his name is Adam, his motif is a wilting rose, and he has horns.

So the last thing I want to say is this, if you can’t stomach the idea of Adam Taurus alluding ot the Beast becuase the reasons I mentioned then look at it this way. Despite how much I love Beauty and the Beast, I choose to see Adam as the Beast who lost, the Beast whose rose wilted away, the Beast whose Beauty left because he never changed, the Beast who remained a beast regardless of meeting Beauty or not. In the end it doesn’t matter if Tauradonna hadn’t been abusive, if Adam had a choice, if he could have been better because Adam Taurus is the Beast that never learned to love, that remained seeing Beauty as a way to get rid of his curse.

I hope this helps you see Adam’s Character allusion in a differently light and maybe just maybe accept it.  I am honestly surprised I wrote this much I don’t think I’ve ever willingly wrote this much. Oh and by the way did anyone else think of the Beauty and the Beast song Evermore upon finding out about the Volume 6 end credits song being called Nevermore, because I did and it’s what finally made me make this post.

I'm going to be honest with you, one of the reasons I don't really Bumblebee all that much is more of the implication of that it's potentially Oedipusal. The similarities between Blake and Raven are there. Some could say I'm overthinking, but considering Yang's issues with her mom that are not handled well, I can't help but feel uncomfortable with this pair.

And that’s fair. Unless someone is shipping something like tauradonna, rosewick, fallen petals, enabler, or any other pedophelic/abusive/incestuous relationship, I don’t judge them based on their ships. I might judge them based on how the act about their ships, but never about the ship itself.

I apologize for Renora shippers but...

I don’t really see Renora as Canon. Yes they may have “held hands” a touching moment in V4, but those don’t really confirm any kind of relationship. Same goes for a lip-lock kiss, those gestures don’t really confirm a pair as “canon”.

In fact, I’d argue Arkos wasn’t canon in any way, we don’t have any way of knowing that Jaune returned Pyrrha’s feelings. I guess one-sided Arkos was confirmed canon.

Really, Renora may have had huge implications but wasn’t in any way a confirmed pairing.

Ren and Nora care for each other but the only characters who had been confirmed to have romantic affections for another character would be.

some reminders ( just in case  anyone’s on mobile or is time -- restricted or anything );

my adam is very, very headcanon -- based. he’s the result of me working on him since the release of the black trailer, with much of my work coming from between volumes one && the end of two, meaning the vast majority of what i’ve done && what i imagined was essentially thrown out of the window after volume three but has absolutely existed prior to it.

my adam is canon -- divergent. he isn’t an abuser or in any way somebody who wishes to hurt others. he literally keeps to himself && goes above && beyond to avoid conflict of any kind. before leaving the white fang, in which he wasn’t a high -- ranking member && much less a leader, he grew to despise the corruption within it && had believed that when he joined, which was during an incredibly vulnerable time in his life ( when he was literally like 11 -- 14 years old ), that they weren’t going to fight fire with fire && despises himself for every time he was pushed to attend every god awful && counterproductive mission. as understanding as he can actually be, he knew there was a difference between acting out of desperation && being just as bad. he’s very much on neither side. knows both have done awful things but also knows not to assume everyone on either side does.

i ship tauradonna only in relation to this whole story. in it, adam && blake met during adam’s darker years ( so, again, that 11 -- 14 timeframe ) && were dating way before he turned eighteen. both consented to it all && their relationship is as healthy as they can make it, given their circumstances. adam cares for her deeply, truly loves her, && wants only the best for her.

even so, despite being the opposite of how it is in canon now, i will still tag any instance of it, be it blatant or mere implication / suggestion. people deserve to feel comfortable, so this isn’t an issue for me at all. if i ever miss something, which i pray i don’t, please let me know && i’ll fix it as quick as i can. my tag format is “ x cw “.

i also don’t follow blakes because of me shipping tauradonna. yes, tauradonna plays a significant part in my adam's story but me following a blake is not me silently hoping they’ll roleplay it with me or anything like that. goodness, no. i’d love to write it but only if someone approaches me about it && expresses total consent && a wish to. the blake in this story isn’t necessarily anyone’s blake && any threads involving other blakes will take place in an altered story where the blake && all things pertaining to her are removed from the story && replaced with the story of the one being interacted with wherever it can be fit in. if i ever appear like i’m pushing it on anyone or suggesting it should happen, i’m so sorry, && i’ll make sure to stop doing what was giving off that impression.

tl ; dr -- i’m not a fan of canon adam && canon tauradonna myself ( all the love to anyone who is !! you do you, bud <3 ) && i’m maintaining all this alternate story stuff since it does make me very happy, makes a lot of sense to me, && it’s years of work that i can’t easily throw away but my happiness is not more important than someone else’s. please, please, please do what makes you comfortable && don’t feel obliged to tolerate anything that doesn’t. i make sure to also send any blake && any other character who has any notable negative interactions with adam in canon who follows me or i wish to follow a message asking if they’d be comfortable with me following but if needed, i can start doing this in general with any rwby character.

Someone Missed An Opportunity Somewhere

Okay so I know everyone in the fandom thinks (and I fullheartedly agree) that Adam Taurus is a fucking asshole who deserves nothing good in life whatsoever, but, cliche as it sounds, I was in the shower earlier thinking about RWBY, and a thought occurred. That whole scene in Volume 3 where he's about to chop Blake up and he's all like-

Adam: And as I set out upon this world and deliver the justice mankind so greatly deserves, I will make it my mission to destroy everything you love.

-and then he spots Yang running past and he's like-

Adam: Starting with her.

-and that's good and all (Bumblebee shippers, rejoice at the implications), but I was suddenly struck by the realization that if the creators had been a bit more interested in probing the canonically abusive-shitstorm that is Tauradonna (Is that their ship name? Is that how it's spelled? Am I hip enough to all these things?) that they could've had Blake come all out of left field, like staring up at him wrathfully (maybe some artistic betrayed/broken tears in her eyes) and going-

Blake: You've already destroyed yourself, so what is there left to take?

-or something along those lines. Not that I really ship the ship, but it'd show that his anger was consuming him (which it was/is) and turning him into something dark (which he is/was) and that Blake realizes that, and tells him to his face that the Adam she knew and liked (to whatever degree she liked) is dead, not only to her, but even to himself. It'd further the implication that Adam's becoming more and more of a monster with each scene he pops up in (let's all be real here), which is apparently some symbolism that RT is interested in keeping.

I mean, he always has his White Fang mask on, and if you probe deeper into the visual symbolism the White Fang has going on you'll notice that the characters only wear their masks (and yes I know the background White Fangers always have theirs on, but I bet dollars to donuts its to save budget, so shh, we're talking about the named people only) when they're doing bad things. Blake never wore one ever. Ilia basically only wears hers when she's doing White Fang bidding; usually when she's talking to Blake or otherwise showing vulnerability and integrity, she takes it off. Even Sienna Khan, the leader, doesn't wear hers in the one scene we get with her (rest in peace, my queen), nor does she seem to have it anywhere on or near her person. And remember waaaaaay back in "Painting the Town…" where Blake mentioned to Sun-

Blake: The masks are a symbol. Humanity wanted to make monsters out of us, so we chose to don the faces of monsters.

-and the whole thing with Adam's character symbolization being the "Beast" from Beauty and the Beast. Honestly the only way they could more blatantly say "THIS GUY'S A FUCKING MONSTER" is to put it on his shirt. (Wouldn't that solve so many problems? Just picture it in your head. Look at it. Smile.)

And I mean if Blake said that to him I would bet you at least five bucks that maybe it'd back him up just a little. Maybe for two seconds. Enough to her to pick up Yang and get the fuck out of dodge. 'Cause having other people call you a monster, yeah, whatever, having your former…person of affection (work with me here, this is a hypothetical situation only) call you a monster, at this point in his going-darkside that probably wouldn't affect him much, but having her say he's a monster WHILE implying that she USED to like him AND that she has nothing left to lose after he's gone darkside would prooooobably make even our resident stab-happy flaming pile of douche take a step back.

Hmmm alright i can't resist answering hahaha but it got long so im putting it under a cut. Long story short very few and the way/time i think it would take for these ships to potentially happen varies a lot.

I want to premise that RWBY has proved me wrong on ships many times and in the years i've been watching the show has changed a lot. For example in the beginning i didn't trust they would deliver main LGBT characters but that has changed now clearly. There's also many levels of "canon", for istance i can consider Neptune x Weiss canon because there was canonical romantic interest that was mutual even if there was no relationship, Jaune x Weiss also have canon romantic sub-plot but it was unilateral. Soooo to me "canon" means canonically aknowledged feelings/interest at least on one side. For example these are the pairings that i already see as "canon" to some degree: iceberg, whiteknight (one sided), arkos,renora, catmeleon (one sided), blacksun, tauradonna *ugh*, bumbleby aaaaand im very close to adding one-sided rosegarden (on Oscar's part) and emercury after V7/8.

Now, as for those ships that i think could get real by the end of the show or in the future.....

the inner shipper in me has identified five pairings with potential to get "in a relationship", please this is based on canon in some points (mostly bees and renora) but its still just a lot of speculation:

• Bees, mutual relationship. I think this one is kinda obvious now. I saw the signs early on (V3) but i believed, quite frankly, that it was childlish to hope for two main LGBTs and that blacksun would probably be the preferred pairing. I don't know if this pairing was planned, but there was something in there and now its pretty obvious they will get in a relationship by the looks of it.

• Renora, break up (reconciliation??). OKAY hear me out i know Renora are probably just gonna find each other again and kiss and be happy and have babies BUT someone left this annoying bug in my ear that screams "nora wants to find out who she is and being with ren means that she can't, so they won't end up together romantically" im not sure whats gonna happen but i could see either endgame Renora as mutual relationship and/or breakup renora.

• Emercury, open ending??? If their relationship was to be romantic (i hope so but also don't take a couple of looks as proof) i'd expect Mercury to be the one doing the pining?? I don't have any solid argument to support this its just a vibe i get and it's definitely the forementioned inner shipper doing the work. STILL my personal theory is that both will be redeemed and eventually they will find each other and build a new life together. I believe the best we can get with Emercury, realistically speaking, is an open ending.....

• Nuts and Dolts, blurred undertones. Alright i don't think they will kiss realistically BUT i think Nuts and Dolts shippers have a point. I believe.....(again inner shipper at work)..... it is possible to get in a position where there's like a kiss and Penny is not fully aware of the implications and just knows she loves Ruby very much. Realistically i believe Ruby ATM is aro/ace so i am not sure what her reaction would be. I don't think this will happen but i'd see where its coming from if it did. And i would be very much okay with Nuts and Dolts, nothing in it seems off to me. It's a good freaking relationship. Though after Fairgame i've decisely stopped seeing every shippable interaction as inherently romantic in canon because...self care :/

• Rosegarden, possible late endgame. Admittedly!!! This is the only Ruby relationship that hasn't been automatically BROTPed in canon. Jaune, Weiss, Penny all labelled as friends, besties and best friends to Ruby, Oscar hasn't. Mind you that alone doesn't have to mean much but it is....suspicious, to me. The parallels with bees and their little interaction last volume leave me kinda convinced of the fact that if Ruby is really getting a canon love interest, then it would be this one. The narrative seems to place their role in the plot very close to each other, and with how much RWBY has valued plot relevant duos in the past, it is entirely possible they'd sneak romance between these two. Of course it would be very later on in the show, as i don't think CRWBY would ever attempt anything with Ozpin still invading Oscar's head. However it must be said that this is the only popular Ruby ship that stands a real chance in my opinion, because their dynamic is different, is the only one that is not being framed and labelled as "best friends". To this day the most interpretable-as-romantic interaction Ruby has ever had was with him and was a direct parallel to another canon ship.........this is my explaination as to why i think Rosegarden is a likely option. But we'll see how that goes. Like i said, i believe Ruby isn't interested in romance right now, but she could be in the future. Most of the juice in rosegarden comes from Oscar's lowkey crush and the framing of their moments. This could mean something, but it has to be a little more explicit to be considered canon.

• Last observations in regards of Weiss. I think Weiss will stay single. The only chance i see at a Weiss romance includes a revamping of her old romantic subplots: so iceberg and whiteknight. But objectively i don't think CRWBY has the time or energy or ability to handle so many romances so i definitely don't see this as a super likely possibility. Whats for sure is that i don't believe they'll ever bother giving Weiss a new romance that starts from 0. And my Sunflakes heart is in absolute pain over this knowledge alcnsmxnndndnd but i am just being real here

Uuuh aight thats it. these are just some guesses so yeah. All things condered i think only renora/bees are almost guaranteed, buuuuut i think we'll get at least one of the other mentioned pairings. Thanks for the question! :)

This fandom is wild, specifically on the shipping side because it doesn't understand the difference between what they want to be canon and whats actually canon and as such is expected to happen.

You'll have people that will unironically claim weiss/ruby are endgame despite being told "no" every season, you turn around and someone will say jaune/ruby should have happened because they were "set up romantically"(???), turn around again and another corner of the fandom is actually expecting nuts and dolts kiss any moment because they hugged a lot, meanwhile canon Ruby is......literally uninterested in anything romantically and is about to have a serious breakdown over thousands of people that are going to die...............like 😬

blake’s i love yous come in the form of promises. she doesn’t make promises she knows she can’t keep. she has great intention with her words, despite a lofty plan when it comes to establishing her goals. one example of that is the “i’ll protect you” said to yang in the recent episodes. although it was said naively, and ill received by yang, blake fully intended to keep that promise. because of her elusive and reckless nature, as well as past trauma small acts of kindness and allowing someone to see facets of her vulnerability count as i love yous, such as the kiss to sun’s cheek in the beginning of volume six, or how blake places a blanket over weiss’ shoulders at brunswick farm. that is all, however, speaking platonically. another platonic way of saying “ i love you ” from blake, even unintentionally, is assigning someone an associated word, like she has her teammates, and adam ( because she did love him at one point, even if she doesn’t now. ) romantically, blake has not figured it out yet. she has never, truly, been in love before.

Some peoples' insistence the Beauty and the Beast allusion is for Bees rather than Tauradonna, Yang being the BEAUTY instead of Blake, and Blake being the BEAST instead of Adam, is gross to me. It again dehumanizes the ONLY Faunus in the relationship as an animal. It's less gross if the Beast is Adam in a Faunus+Faunus relationship than Blake being the Beast in a Faunus+Human relationship. So yay for more Faunus racism!

Yeah, that's what gets to me to. Adam and Blake were built together to be Beauty and the Beast (Ignoring that I will die on Esmeralda!Blake hill), and are both the in-universe minorities in this relationship. Same with Blake being both, she's a Faunus so it doesn't have the unfortunate implication.

This changes when it's Yang being heralded as Beauty and Blake as the Beast. RWBY has shoved down our throats that comparing the Faunus to animals is racist, so having the Faunus in a mixed relationship as the Beast, as an animal, while the human is the fair Beauty is not the serve that shippers think it is.
