This isn't the first time I presented a chapter not as intended, and I have a feeling it won't be the last. This chapter 15 (which was supposed to be the last chapter of ACT I ), was cut in 'half' - a bit because of the size of ch15, and a bit for my own sanity. As the Bake Off saying goes: "Started making it. Had a breakdown. Bon appétit."

Also, there's an image in this chapter, I've never tried to place an image in a chapter on Ao3 before, but I think I got it right. I'll probably keep trying to adjust and fix it over time. Thank you for your patience ;w;

✦ Royal Stars ✦

The 4 royal stars are Dusk and Blackthorn’s “friends”, let’s say. They’re from the Crystaltale world, called Monstre Lucifent. Of course, Dusk and Blackthorn do not have any memories of their past lives or most so they don’t know that they’re supposed not to engage them as they’re often regarded as a parasite to the host. They’re poor souls that meddle with dark magic for their own desire, turning them into a Monstre Lucifent.

In the end, they befriended them and as the leader, Dusk name them like the old story of stars from the Ukarimu Kingdom. The legend of the 4 Royal Stars. Royalty is his favourite so he will name them based on what he likes. Each of Monstre Lucifent are a black mass creature with disfigured body parts but are capable of attacking someone. Each of them glows differently from their previous host’s soul trait.

✦ Tascheter

Tachester is a bull Monstre Lucifent with emerald colour as its light. It’s most likely that it was a Kindness soul trait user. Its head is similar to a bull but its mouth has sharp teeth like any Monstre Lucifent trait. Tachester is mostly calm but has a bad temperament. Once it’s angry, no one could stop it except for Blackthorn for an unknown reason. Perhaps they have met somewhere in their previous life? Either way, this made Dusk a little bit jealous but he throw away that feeling. After all, he owns Blackthorn and by so, he owns it too.

✦ Venant

Venant is a lion Monstre Lucifent with ruby colour as its light. Most likely that it was a Determination soul trait user. Oddly, it has long bunny ears along its smokey mane. Dusk finds it odd and...cute. Venant is the most active amongst the 4. Brash and sometimes childish. He doesn’t really mind it all. It’s like having a cat but big and dangerous. Blackthorn wanted Venant’s attention as he, what he would describe, has an odd attraction to felines. Not to worry, Venant’s likes both of them but Dusk usually likes to tease Blackthorn with it.

✦ Satevis

Satevis is a Scorpion Monstre Lucifent with blue colour as its light. Most likely that it was an Integrity soul trait user. Despite being called a Scorpion, it’s actually only its tail that looks like it. Its head is deformed and has sharp teeth just like other Monstre Lucifent. Satevis has a cunning personality, it often teases other Monstre Lucifent, Blackthorn, and Dusk. With Dust as its favourite. Dusk disliked this but he has no other choice than to...order Blackthorn to deal with it. You immature child.

✦ Haftorang

Haftorang is a Fish Monstre Lucifent with purple colour as its light. Most likely that it was a Perseverance soul trait user. It moves like a fish surfing on water but instead of water is a fog of dark magic. Oddly, it’s the only one that’s coloured light and not dark like the other 3. It seems to be conscious of its appearance. Meaning that Monstre Lucifent may have some intelligence and awareness other than their lust for souls. It usually doesn’t like attention and wishes to be alone but Satevis always bothered it. Often they fought and Blackthorn has to separate them.

Unfortunately, they did not last long as cannot sustain themselves without soul nor dark magic. They tried to resist the urge to kill both of them but their last moment showed the opposite. In every each attempt, Blackthorn has to kill...no...protect his master. Only Haftorang does not try to attack them. Soon, when the opportunity arises for them to escape and rebuild the world they envisioned, Dusk honour them as the 4 royal stars in the sky to be worship for.

hey, goofballs! I just wanted to ~officially~ make a post about a webcomic I’m working on with @mickeyschwartz. It’s been in development for a while and for whatever reason, I’ve been kinda quiet about it, so i figured now would be a good time to spread the word!

Seekers of Infinity is an intergalactic treasure hunting adventure featuring Emma Tascheter, an archaeologist with a lot to prove, and her crew.

We anticipate launching sometime in the winter, so for now I’ll be sharing concepts and progress pics. So today I’m sharing some stuff from the character sheets of Tasch and her rival, Alistair Morning.

Aldebaran The Follower. The four Royal stars Aldebaran Regulus Antares Fomalhaut are the brightest stars in their constellations appearing to stand out from the other stars in the sky and among the 25brightest stars in the night sky having a magnitude of 1.5 or brighter. The Persians considered these four stars to be the four guardians of the heavens. They marked the seasonal changes and marked the equinoxes and solstices. Aldebaran whose Persian name is Tascheter is the watcher of the East and is the Royal Star which marks the vernal Equinox. A pale beauty and the Follower of the Pleiades and the dominant star in the Taurus constellation. The Taurus constellation containing notable stars and clusters include the Hyades and Pleiades fixed the Spring Equinox from approximately 4000 to 2000 B.C. During the Age of Taurus a central form or ritual activity were the cults of the bull. The Apis bull of ancient Egypt was an actual creature chosen to serve as the earthly vessel of the spirit of Osiris. Aldebaron marks the red eye of the bull and is probably linked with the term hitting the bulls eye and was equated with the Persian god of light Ahura Mazda and is said to endow integrity and to engender the test of honor. Aldebaron marked the Vedic lunar mansion which as Nair al Dabaran the BrightOne of the Follower. In astrology Aldebaron has been thought to be eminently fortunate foreshadowing future riches and honor.

This had been a gift from Beril's parents, from family they'd never known, and it is the most precious item they possess. Even after this long: its surface is flat and smooth as still water.

A thin line of hot red cuts across the foot of a lavender sky. The shine of a barely waking sun covers the room in a scarlet tint. Witnessing its rise from atop a swirling cloud is the robed Tascheter, visible only as hands and brilliant eyes peeking from the indigo billows of his garment. In his hands rests the infant’s form of pure white. Pyxis snores softly. His eyes wore rings of purple from sleeplessness. It was in Tascheter’s arms that he was most at peace now.

He opened an eye for a peek at his younger brother. The red of the sun illuminated his eyes like fire, and the pale pink strands that always escaped the giant god’s turban wafted as dreamlike clouds. Pyxis struggled to understand the crippling shyness that Tasch had developed, the desire to hide as he did. To him, Tascheter was beautiful. He wanted to remind him of that every day. After the incident at scholar’s birth, it became Pyxis’ duty to ensure that he knew.

Tasch flicked his gaze in time to catch Pyxis’ stare. His look was knowing; Pyxis saw the sheepish grin on the corners of his scarlet eyes. The giant lifted the infant close to his veiled face and removed a bit of the garment. Pyxis pat his cheeks, his puffy eyes looked as if he was going to cry. Instead, the dwarf pressed a tender kiss to the giant’s forehead.

“It’s okay,” Tasch said softly. It had happened so long ago, it was now a non-issue. Pyxis mistook him for a senior star and abandoned him shortly after his birth. It was a simple mistake, one hastily corrected and long forgiven, but Pyxis couldn’t let it go. Tasch soothed him in his place. He nuzzled the child with his nose.

The sun peeked its groggy, red face above the horizon.
