I love your rumble and frenzy so much, they have so much personality and character it’s refreshing in a way I can’t even describe. I also love your soundwave and would like to know more about it if you’re willing!
Thank you so so much omg! I'm so glad you like my versions of them!
SOUNDWAVE LORE DROP!
Soundwave was built in The Deck (Cybertronian city I made up for my fan continuity) and was actually not designed to be a tapedeck but rather an audio based demolition minibot, small in stature and equipped with a high powered audio system. Despite its love of art and music, it was pressured to go into the job its frame was best suited for: demolition. However, its memory, vision, and overstimulation problems meant its work was extremely dangerous and terrifying for it. Eventually, after it was nearly crushed by a collapsing scaffolding, it was taken under the wing (BAT PUN) of the cassette Ratbat to pursue data collection and entry instead. And it enjoyed this new work so much it also developed a love of collecting in general. After meeting and bonding with Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage, and Laserbeak, it made the bold and rare (especially for a minibot) decision to get modified to function as a tapedeck after the cassettes said that they could and would help it with its disabilities even more if it decided it wanted that attachment. Later, it met Enemy and Flipsides and struggled to bond with both at first, finding Enemy to be cold and withdrawn and Flipsides seemingly actively disinterested. Eventually, they both warmed up to it though and disclosed neither of them had...great experiences with tapedecks in the past but Soundwave was not like the tapedecks they knew at all. And that they both appreciated Soundwave's deep respect for their personal space and privacy and boundaries. And it started bonding over and helping Enemy with her collections of toys and getting his help with its own. And bonding with Flipsides over a deep love of media and art and self expression. Soundwave is kind of a shithead, very much willing to join Flipsides in particular on pulling a prank or stealing shit or vandalizing things or some really petty revenge stunts, often coming up with clever plans itself. It also doesn't talk much and hardly at all to anyone outside its mix of trusted cassettes, all of whom it loves so incredibly much. Presently, it is the best data collector in the Decepticons and responsible for protecting and maintaining team communications with Flipsides.
Thanks for asking!

send me 3 emojis and I’ll make an NPC based on those for my muse’s world/lore
Verla, the Rusalka old-school music afficionado!
Rusalka's, a water-attuned type of Demon, are mostly known for their craftsmanship and art. While Verla is not an artist herself, her store - Old School Tunes - is a love letter to the art forms of old.
Verla fancies herself a bit of a preservationist, as most traditional Rusalka music is passed down generation by generation. Her store not only serves as a way for people to discover new music, but also to appreciate it in its original medium.
Her store carries not just Vinyls, but also records, CD's, tapedecks, and more! Though she also keeps a private collection on-site with the top-50 songs of all time per type of medium!
So the top 50 songs ever released on vinyl, the top 50 songs ever released on tape, etc.
Aamon has run into her once or twice, since her store borders next to his Auntie's, though all he really does there is buy one or two collector's edition vinyl's when they come out once every couple of months!

i am now actually sitting down and listening to the downward spiral in full tonight (surprising i haven't) cause i'm in a music mood. so witness my live track by track filled with a lot of imagery. that's just how my mind works. okay here we go:
damn. mr. self destruct already has my entire attention and has me by the throat. the electric guitar breakdown at the end...... just jfc that song feels like my heart is a misshapen record with scratches and it's being played with an icepick.
piggy makes me feel like i'm in the middle of the summer and walking through one of those massive drainage pipes until about minute two. and then a summer storm rolls in and i'm about to drown. and listening to trent reznor inhale in the play out is doing something to me.
heresy HOLY SHIT feels like i'm driving at night in a car that has a conversation in the front that you really want to hear but the bass boosted speakers against your back are rattling your teeth in your head so hard you can't hear anything but your bones clicking. but then you're in a car crash. also the lyrics are so wes-core i feel like this is just my brain draining out of my ears after said car crash.
march of the pigs is like you're playing a mario or sonic level from hell in the middle of a berlin nightclub while on a mixture of drugs that will have you raving for weeks. i fucking love it. the switch that feels as sudden as a tapedeck clicking on the lyrics of 'now doesn't it make you feel better?' with the piano.... if there is a way to make audio moments physical so i could fit them inside my mouth and chew? yes, that is one i would like to have.
closer.... need I say more. this is one i have heard before (you would have to be dead to not have heard closer) but now that it's in the atmosphere of the entirety of the downward spiral, it's only better. yes i want you to fuck me like an animal mr reznor. this lava lamp type of electric sound & marriage of bass is a physical presence and it is perhaps fucking me.
that transition into ruiner WAS CLEAN!!! i feel like i'm in the middle of a mosh pit that is somehow in like. idk dracula's castle. that entire section (you know the one in this) is indeed a dick metaphor. and then when the tortured guitar that sounds like it’s about to snap every one of its strings played by a resurrected jimi hendrix that really hates you in particular comes in it just is. so much. hearing the wetness of reznor's mouth as he breathes in and out is.... i shan't say.
oh WOW that cut off from ruiner to the becoming had me pausing and going wait. that's insane. anyways the becoming. teheheh i beat my machine. ALRIGHT ALRIGHT. i'm in the middle of the nightclub featured in the collection (2012). and i'm absolutely jamming to the screams while reznor's voice is carrying me by puppet strings. the switchup after the line 'but it's all clear' feels like i'm now on the floor slowly bleeding out, and then i'm being torn apart by dogs. goddamn this noise inside my head, indeed.
i do not wait this, but yes, yes, i really do want this. please keep speaking directly into my head yes. the music is scratching an itch i didn’t know i had. the entire last minute of the lyrics is #mood. hearing trent pronouncing 'fuck' in that way makes you think about the meaning of the word.
ooooo funky noise and drumbeat that has me immediately bouncing my leg. yessss big man with a gun. this is pure machismo and makes a gun the tool of sex. (meme voice) oh wow.
a warm place. just. is me floating facedown in a saltwater pool filled with water from the dead sea. i feel so cradled and light. glorious. completely immersed in this instrumental like few instrumentals ever make me.
eraser at the beginning makes me think i'm driving through some godforsaken part of the american west and the radio is on and the people in the car are making funny noises over the radio static. then that drum kicks in and the bass layers like i'm about to enter a boss battle. it's a cobra with those cartoon eyes that are swirls and it wants me to kiss it. then it all snaps apart for trent to swoop in riding a hurricane screaming: kill me.
reptile, the start has me thinking i'm back in the backroom of an empty grocery store trying to sneak away from a killer. the sudden smash in at the one minute mark is me hitting the ground. dead. the rest of the song i feel like i'm overhearing sex between an angel and a devil while i'm tied like a dog on the floor at the end of the bed.
the title track!!! the downward spiral at the start of it has me feeling like a fly buzzing against a broken glass window after escaping a dish of honey, too drunk to find my way out from the gap directly in front of me. once trent's voice comes in, with those screams in the background.... i feel like he's leaning into my ear and confessing to this in a darken movie theater watching a goresplattering flick.
and goddamn. hurt. i had heard the johnny cash cover of this before i ever heard this one, and then i listened to the original shortly after and it's the only other song i've heard before (closer was the other). but once again, with it in context of this album..... it feels like a baptism in wine you're not quite sure isn't just blood that trent reznor poured out for you from his own wrists. just. goddamn. godamn. it sounds like he has salvation right in his trembling hands and is asking you to take its heavy burden from him, please, but instead it’s a knife he guts you like a fish with, and you still say thank you.
conclusion: if i had heard this album in middle or high school i would have become a very different person i think. i might have burned down the catholic church i grew up in. i might have had sex even. that's how powerful and solid and sensual this album is. it has its reputation for a reason, and i can't believe i hadn't heard this album in full before this. but i have now. also robin finck i need your gender NOW
#nine inch nails#this is so fucking long but hagdjksfgdsaj i wanted to document my reactions and emotional imagery i feel on listening to this#this is also filled with references that only make sense to my personal lexicon of sense memories#sorry for the long post on your dash tonight oops

(not a req) would you perchance be interested in sharing general dirkjaye headcanons... youve made me obsessed with them
jaye has more money out of the two of them and they take great joy in buying stuff for dirk. in return dirk is the driver and the coordinator he's the type that's silently involved with several reddits of their general area and sends stuff going "ok we're going here" and jaye pays for it bc half the fun for them is the fact that the other person is enjoying it
jaye loves the snow. dirk does not. jaye's favorite holiday is christmas. dirk's is halloween.
they have a big orange tomcat that is obsessed w jaye even though dirk is much more of a cat person. he is only slightly jealous that the cat only meows in pure agony when jaye is not home
they're the type to spend hours reading shitty fanfic or shitty fiction and comment on it. jaye watches booktubers and stands there in dirk's computer room and goes "i have to tell you about sungate" and he's like . Ok. What.
dirk vc jaye you're autistic jaye vc NO IM NOT. im just Quirky.
jaye is the type to sit there in the living room knowing that dirk is coming home at a certain time and stand there at the door when he pulls up in his old truck that he got for cheap and the millage is horrible but it actually has a tapedeck that he does actively use from dave's gifts
jaye is an active listener when dirk infodumps and dirk is a passive one but will bring it up a week later
as a collective i think we need to make jaye loud and emotional but not in a cruel way. tired of him randomly blowing up and yelling at people. maybe he's just loud and dirk can always find him in a grocery store bc he's talking to a check out clerk.
#answers#Anonymous#dirk strider#jaye crocker#dirkjaye#everyone should ask me more abt dirkjaye. thank you

Farm Fresco
Driving home in winter, the sun tucked behind the horizon for the night, mom hummed along to the cassette stuck in the tapedeck as she kept her eyes fixed ahead - headlights slicing a gap in the dark curtain where the streetlights stopped and country began.
We welcomed a sudden thud-crunch of tires moving from the subtle hum of asphalt to the pockmarked gravel road drawn across the prairie like crayon lined portraiture on winter whitened looseleaf.
A final scribble of curve in the road gave way to the house on the hill with a light burning; and the broad silhouette of dad watching for us outlined in front picture window - his shadow painted across the snow framing the front of the house. The house was nights of dinners around the table and songs sung at bedtime. It was green shag carpet that became forests for Hot Wheels and GI Joe. It was a collection of cat bones each buried with gentle hand and childish tears underneath a pussywillow tree.
Post Bugs Bunny Saturday mornings pulling on rubber boots and pouring out of the front door, we played biologist in sloughs, scavenging for specimens in old jam jars.
Winter built us snow bank fortresses. Spring found us slough-splashed with mud. Summer sang us to sleep against the spark of campfires. Fall raked cool air across our cheeks.
We slugged through farm yard mud to the barn – a solitary splash of red on the horizon like our cheeks in winter. We would play hide and seek in the stables and peek precariously out of the hayloft door on the top floor, daring each other to creep closer, army crawling through dust and dried pigeon droppings to hang our heads over the side and see the landscape of farm and prairie that we painted ourselves into.

honestly i owe it all to the group of crust punks that took me in when i was 19

More about myself
You may know me as Simmer but I go by many names, my second most preferred online alias being Brian.
I'm non-human and identify strictly as a Mule Deer! I'm also musickin with shoegaze.
My main aesthetics are SSPUcore (coined by me), flowercore, weirdcore and cottagecore. My favourite colour often changes over time but crimson has been one of them for the longest time. Just know that I will always love the colours on the album cover for Swoon! 💖
I abbreviate commonly used phrases! The biggest being "for real" being shortened to "fr".
My favourite songs are: Simmer, Panic Switch, The Wild Kind, Cannibal, Toy Soldiers, We Are Chameleons, Ragamuffin, Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings), Connection, Tapedeck and Common Reactor! There isn't a single song by Silversun Pickups I hate!
My 3 favourite albums are: Neck Of The Woods, Swoon and Better Nature
I'm working on a book called Scenic Route! My favourite character being Ragamuffin!
I'm an inclus, left-wing liberal, white-passing POC, LG(B)(T)+, MOGAI, neurodiverse and physically disabled person. I was professionally diagnosed with Autism among other things at 15 years of age, around the same time I came out as transgender to my irl people! My special interest being Silversun Pickups.
I have two pet budgies and I collect houseplants.
My birthday is December 19! My signs: Sagittarius sun, Taurus moon and Libra rising
My favourite season is winter but spring is close just behind fall! I despise summer with a passion!
Nature is a huge importance to me and the things in it that you will see me post most often are: flowers, mushrooms, trees, deer, birds, insects (big tw on maggots, moths, ants, etc.), poisonous plants and endangered species.
I'm planning on becoming a surgeon someday! Something about amputation and saving lives has me curious! The idea of being the first openly non-binary surgeon also is thrilling to me!
I'm a Luciferian and Celtic Pagan!
And I'm a Canadian.
Not to mention: I love cats, my favourite nut is the hazelnut (I'm always consuming something made out of them), I play Among Us, I designed characters for Teelia's book series Strong Hearts Are Mandatory, I voice act and I have an interest in scary things (true crime, creepypastas, cryptids and urban legends to name a few).

Do you have a favorite toy that you feel like not enough people on Tumblr post about?
Cricket or maybe TV Teddy.
I just got Cricket a month or so ago and I love her. She’s a bit like Teddy Ruxpin in that she takes cassette tapes and reads to you, although she’s more focused on learning/the real world than Teddy was and his fantastical adventures. My girl is so incomplete. I don’t have any tapes for her and she came naked. I dressed her in a 2 year old’s dress I had laying around and she’s adorable.
She should look like this btw for reference:
I’m fighting the urge to rename her “Dolly” after Dolly Parton since I’ve only played a country music tape in her to see if her tapedeck works (it does but her mouth seems broken).
There’s not a lot online about her.
I mentioned TV Teddy and he get’s talked about even less.
TV Teddy is a little known anamatronic bear toy that watches cartoons with you and seems to interact with your TV. It really works and even today it seems like magic. I have two tapes for him, his “original” tape and another one. I want to collect them all; there weren't that many. On this blog I actually once lamented on the fact they were selling most of them on eBay for VERY cheap but the shipping was so expensive!
Both of these toys aren’t mentioned enough on the internet as a whole, let alone Tumblr. If I had to pick one that’s big elsewhere but not so much on Tumblr then I’d pick Teddy Ruxpin (I have one too). He seems to be just a big joke on Tumblr if he does get mentioned. Don’t search his name if you’re squeamish. Most of these toys people think are creepy and so make creepy versions. Anyway, those are my picks.

#Tapedeck multimedia full#
Select the speed of the tape transport between 7.5 and 15 or 15 and 30 inches per second (“ips”), depending on the tape machine used. If perfectly identical left and right channel processing is a must, simply disable this feature. This is good and part of the analog recording mojo! The T-RackS Tape Machine Collection perfectly recreates these subtle differences to deliver the real experience. “Repro” passes your signal through the entire analog recording system: input-> recording amplifier -> recording head -> tape -> playback head -> playback preamplifier -> output stage.Įven a perfectly aligned tape machine will have slight level, EQ and distortion differences between the left and right channels. Depending on how the recorder is designed, the “Input” path can sound extremely transparent or just slightly more colored. With “Input,” the signal only passes through the input and output electronic stages of the recorders, bypassing the tape. This is the essence, and the T-RackS Tape Machine collection faithfully bring all this magic right to your DAW. It's subtle but you can feel that it is not. The program coming out a professional tape recorder is very similar to the one coming in, just better.
#Tapedeck multimedia full#
This model now works in symbiosis with a powerful dynamic convolution engine that captures the full essence of the real machines, creating what we believe is the only way to faithfully bring the complete picture of these complex analog engineering marvels to the digital realm. Then IK’s DSP engineering team took each of the stages apart, studied and analyzed them in-depth, thus producing a model of the entire magnetic tape recording process. Each machine went through a complete electronic and mechanical restoration to bring them perfectly back “to spec” before the scientific modelling process started. The T-RackS Tape Machine collection is the culmination of two years of full-time research and development on real world-class machines.

Angels Egg by Gong. If u have heard it
my favorite lyric
Now you're here and now you're Gong/ now you're back where you belong/ Meet the wizard of the keys/ and he'll reveal the mysteries/ of Angels' Eggs and Octave Doctors/ Radio Gnome and Love Projectors
my favorite song (that's not i niver glid before?)
the song that makes me cry I just think about how when I had a radio show in college this one guy who worked there just made everything such a pain in the ass for me because none of the songs I ever wanted to play were in their collection so i had to edit and send them in every week and then find them again in the database then put my show together and the only one he seemed to recall was Radio Gnome Invisible and kept giving me shit about it and one time I gave him a ride up to Atlanta with me I think he was really into me but I was playing an XTC tape because it was my damn car and all I had was a tapedeck driving through middle Georgia and he kept trying to freestyle rap over it for over an hour and it made me never want to see him ever again I hope he feels as embarrassed about that as I was for him.
the song that’s a fucking bop I Never Glid Before, I'll make a case it's very danceable. The live recording with Bill Bruford is especially good.
the song i most dislike/least love Prostitute Poem.
i have but not in years, had to give it a relisten. been meaning to watch the film of the same name for a long time now as well... i'll get on it

yea sure why not
mom's house: my trash collection's gonna be went ham on, maybe wind up my music box/jewelry case to open it, sort my cassettes and one falls out that'll playa code when you put it in my tapedeck
dad's house: arles flower bit with my skull/flowers poster, and actually i don't have much here at the moment so that's it
If your room was a Rusty Lake/Cube Escape location, what puzzles would be in it?
- I've just got a box of matches in my dresser, I'm already set
- You knock some dice off of a counter and the numbers given are the code to something
- some kind of music puzzle with my ukulele? maybe turning on my radio and then having to recreate the song bit it played
- Toss some peanuts outside, check back later and a squirrel will be there, eating it (might shit out a key or note or something cuz that's how Rusty lake works)
#no door or wall at my dad's either :(#i'm in a loft. it sounds cool but in florida it gets so hot up here even in april
