BONUS AIRHEADED S/O HEADCANNONS: Zoro (One Piece)
An: I wanna face plant in his tits. 👉👈
---------
Zoro knows you're stupid
He knows
But he'll still take your advice like you actually know what you're talking about
Resulting in it back firing at him 90% of the time
"Hey! Which snakes are poisonous again?" He asked after getting bit by one.
"Red and yellow will kill a fellow. Red and black are friends of Jack." You recite proudly, remembering what Robin thought you.
"Okay, so what does this count as."
He holds up a bright yellow snake.
"Um.... Probably not venomous."
It was indeed venomous and poor Chopper had a heart attack trying to come up with an antidote.
Especially after Zoro kept insisting 'he was fine' and 'he'd tough it out.'
Honesty, he doesn't care if you're stupid most of the time.
Luffy's just as dumb and look at him.
Well, maybe don't. But it doesn't change the fact that he's already following one idiot around.
What's one more?
You leave out food? For the ants??? So they don't get hungry?????
"You're gonna cause an infestation in the kitchen...Wait, never mind. You're doing a good job."
He'll help you put the blame on Ussop just so Sanji can continue to suffer.
"What do you mean you broke the fish tank!?!? Franky's gonna be pissed!"
"That stingray was looking at me funny."
You gesture towards a fish that was not a stingray.
Honestly you give him a headache most days.
But he's too lazy to worry about what you do
As long as you don't rope him in.
He also won't baby you.
Rather, he helps cover up whatever trouble you caused or just laughs off your antics.
Partner in crime, at least until Nami finds out
Then you're officially on your own.
He still loves you tho
Just from a distance 👉👈
You probably came along a little after Thriller Bark.
Joining from the island they were currently resting at because according to Luffy, 'They're really cool.'
Which is never enough reason to join the crew.
But it's not hard to see what he meant when he asked you to 'do the thing' and you tore a tree up from its roots.
Yeah, you can stay
Just don't cause trouble.
He warms up to you after a while.
Namely seeing you interacting with Nami and her actually smiling.
If Nami likes you, then either she was gonna hurt you or you must've been genuinely a good person.
(It's because she'll tell you to do something and unlike their captain, you don't complain.)
You also get on Sanji's nerves, which immediately puts you in his good graces.
There isn't an isolated moment or anything leading up to him falling for you.
He was just watching you mess around with Luffy and Chopper when he realized he liked your laugh.
Then your smile
And when you caught him starting, you waved with an overly excited expression.
Like a puppy
And it makes heat flood to his cheeks, forcing him to turn away.
Zoro is about as romantic as a rock.
There's no way he's going to court you
If you're expecting a date, then I've got some bad news.
However ☝️
Zoro's way of flirting is inviting you to train with him
You're the only one allowed in the Crow's Nest when he's in there.
He's a man who admires strength, what can I say.
Toss him over your shoulder, punch him, hell lift some weights and he's 💗💗💗
It's also a way for him to show off
Slightly flexing to see your reaction. But of course, you're stupid so you don't really notice when he does it.
Tell him he's strong and he'll carry that with him the rest of the day.
If your weapon of choice is also a sword, he's smitten
In the stupid way tho. Like trying to teach you his techniques or critiquing yours.
"You're not doing it right." Is an excuse to correct your form and touch you
If he really loves you, he'll invite you to nap with him.
Sit on his lap or he'll sit on yours. He doesn't give two shits.
Either way, he's tired and wants to cuddle.
Let's you smoosh your face between his boobs if you ask nicely.
Only you 🫵
He'll glare if someone's watching and laughing.
"Yeah? Jealous it's not you?"
Zoro loves fighting with you
He won't hold you back if you want to fight
Not only can you keep up, but you move a little faster than him.
Seeing you sink marines gives him a feeling of pride.
Like, look at you!
That's his S/O!
He'll be excited to see your bounty go up along with his.
NEVER go exploring on an island alone
You two will not be found for days
Somebody who isn't an idiot and has a good sense of direction has to go with you.
It's probably Sanji tbh
Does Zoro get jealous?
He doesn't have the attention span to get jealous
Someone's flirting with you?
Eh, you don't notice it anyway. That person can try but they'll never get anywhere.
You haven't been spending a lot of time with him?
He'll just sleep with the full confidence you'll be back when he wakes up.
He just isn't worried about you losing interest
BUT he'll be damned if that cook comes anywhere near you.
Again, about as romantic as a rock.
He's not gonna be calling you lovey dovey names.
He also finds it embarrassing.
You won't catch him pulling that 'Nami-Swan!' crap.
He'd rather die
But on a very rare occasion where it's just the two of you, he'll call you baby or babe.
Nothing other than that
And he'll deny he ever said it
No confession to be found
He likes you and you seem to like him, so you're his.
Unless you say otherwise, you're dating.

Someone please give D.C.!AU Soundwave a medal and a drink for dealing with the shenanigans. Also have to wrangle Tarn's general Tarn-ness.
First he had to deal with the donar clause was activated by Tarn and Tarn imprinted?! Wait he's seeker-kin and a has been a tank for ages." The telepath knows exactly why stascream was torn between lsughter and tears. Which means he has to be constantly be on guard that Tarn might try to trine with Lord Megatron.
Then he had to do with the twice accidentally very married couple being well married and also expecting more bitties. He knows in his spark his cassettes are to blame somehow regardless of the lack of evidence.
Then the chaos on board the nemasis caused by Tarn bringing back a pregnant conjux and a flock of bitties. Tarn being hyper protective made everything super hazardous just existing on the same ship. At least they gained two hyper compatatent medics. Even if Tarn's sexual tension was so high Soundwave had to take active measures to prevent three quarters of the ship from entering heats or ruts.
Then the Overlord Incident(s) culminating in premature newsparks, one very dead Overlord, an Soundwave discovering This nurse isn't some agent assassin, Camians, especially medical professionals, are just like that. Also that Camus has hazards that are insane and the planet is best avoided.
Speaking of which he had to browbeat Megatron into encouraging Tarn and the Nurse to call the Nurse's Mentor/Foster-sire so he could meet the bitties because Soundwave will be damned if he ends up gunning for the cause because of a misunderstanding. Also perhaps they can arange for him to teach medical techniques.
To top it all off inspite of the fact Tarn's dangerous broken coding and the couple are literally spark resonants powerful enough to smash through two layers of outlier grade baffels, Megatron wants the nurse to consider other potential sires or code doners since they are capable of kindling.
And all of this mess was basically caused because Tarn was a touch starved socially isolated virgin who wrote the damn doner clause with such specificity. Soundwave and Starscream have already pushed through amendments that allow the carrier to have their choice of potential doners amoung the unit responsible for the sire's demise.
The Donor Clause Au is such a mess. It has different versions at this point, depending on the take like 'What if Tarn had to be present at officer meetings," "What if Megatron was a High Priest of Megatronus Prime," and the current thought of "What if sparklings were ridiculously rare on Cybertron because Reasons."
In the verse where sparklings are super rare as in one newspark per full carriage (not the back-to-back-to-back clutches of three), Soundwave gets all the spiked tea he wants, his own spike milked by hand as he's one of the few mechs that 1) you actually like outside of the Peaceful Tyranny and 2) Tarn pre-approved in a very detail breakdown of very short over acceptable mechs in case your legal spouse isn't around, and he gets chirpy sparklings crawling into his lap.
Purring and happy with simple, one-tracked minds and emotions that don't give Soundwave migraines or induce distaste. He actually indulges the little ones as they paint his legs or tug on his plates or, in the case of the sparkling with a mess of a mouth full of sharp teeth, Soundwave utilizes his more heavily protected data-cables for the bitty to chew on.
Soundwave has never thought of parenthood as tapedecks can't carry sparklets, and finding a mech with a viable gestational chamber is akin to becoming a long-standing reigning Champion of Kaon, but...
Soundwave also nips those family yearnings because then he would need to deal with Tarn as a potential code-sharer along with your own idiosyncrasies as a Camien. Nor does he want to constantly deal with Ravage's and Ratbat's complaints of Tarn's super-charged, lust-addled repression. While the leader of the Justice Division may have the iron control to keep his highly charged field to his plating, any mech with a finely tuned sense of smell, like the majority of beastformers, would sneeze at Tarn's presence.
(If Tourniquet is around, the Hub would be fielding an immense influx of comms ranging from the Camien Healer's approval to take Decepticon personnel onto hazardous planetoids for a 'complete training experience,' Hook's bombardment of pulling the colonists into his division, and a flood of troops' terrified complaints/hopeful messages thanks as the Healer would literally hunt and drag any mech into his care, kicking and screaming with an unholy sense of cheer.)
The Cassettes, despite their denial, do get jealous the sheer amount of racket all six bitties make when the Justice Division troops back. No amount of patty cake, violent nursery rhymes, and edible paint will match the warmth and deep rumble of Tarn's frame or the Pet's yankable mane.
The bitties are defiantly chirping at their imprisoned state, being trapped by hard-light in mess hall.
As everyone goes through the usual song-and-dance because the mechs want to pick up a sparkling, but you're already at gate as a grim, no nonsense warden because the Justice Division are filthy from gore, dust, and dirt. You're on a third carriage and have no wants to deal with a sick clutch on top of it because the sparklings would try to lick it off a random, filthy armor piece.
It's usually easier to shoo Tesarus and Helex into Nickel's awaiting care, considering those two are the messiest and have a habit of inconsistent personal care. Kaon has his servos full tugging the Pet away to the communal showers. Vos enjoys being an ass because you tend to nick his cables with quick swipes of a scalpel as Tarn lingers and winds up both clutches over their papa and uncle.
Meanwhile, Soundwave is trying to make his escape because he knows Tarn is thinking about cuddles and you're projecting filthy X-rated scenes, but he's trapped by social convention and that sparkling still chewing on his data-cable.
Nurse blames the alcohol for the second clutch as well as disbelief since you shouldn't have sparked up. Not that fast.
The third clutch was just plain weakness because you could have put your pede down and stayed on the ship. But you didn't (and you're not thinking about the implications, no sir, not at all, you're most definitely not thinking about the taste of your legal Conjux's Energon and how his neck-cables felt beneath your denta-)
Tarn can be dense/oblivious as the Head of Idiot Sandwiches. Still doesn't know he had imprinted. He just knows he enjoys Nurse's company and the family life and feels more well-rested even with the chaos. (Aka his Seekerkin-coding is finally getting sociality it has been screaming for by latching onto a carrier-mate and resulting bitties). Tarn is patting himself on the back, being an excellent donor and upholding Decepticon creed, and thanks to Lord Megatron's clarification, he will do his Conjunxal duties!
(Cue everyone else staring at this walking disaster that's in deep denial he's been doing the enthusiastic husband role for a long while already, and Kaon is still awaiting for the orn that Tarn and Nurse will figure out their true feelings until then he has his evidence board, holos, and all the gifts under his floorboards that he's slowly giving to the intended couple.
The communication specialist was giddy, and Sixshot had done a sigh of relief when Tarn, miracles of miracles, had finally given into the impulse to bite a coaxing door-wing. The result had the poor guy hailing Nickel because your reaction was intense.)
High Command is in a deadlock on whether or not to update the Donor Clause, considering said ridiculousness is highly effective.

My OCs
Just a little intro post for the two ocs most often talked about on this blog :)
Ibakha Malqir
My main WoL. She’s a tank with a strong preference for paladin but will bring dragoon or monk if the situation calls for fewer tanks. Ibakha originally hails from a small, semi-isolated tribe on the western Azim Steppe. She lived a traditionally nomadic warrior life until she traveled to Eorzea after listening to the giant crystal in her dreams repeatedly tell her she needed to and her story very closely follows the MSQ from there. Her best friend is a hawk named Ajanga who made the journey to Eorzea with her and is both much too old and too smart to be a regular hawk (despite his claims otherwise). She was viewed as quiet and perhaps not too bright early in her journey because she rarely spoke but this was mostly due to the fact that while the Echo helped her know what everyone else was saying, it didn’t help her be understood by those around her. In her mid/late 20′s by post-Endwalker. She/her or they/them lesbian currently in a relationship with Y’shtola Rhul (was previously in a relationship with Minfilia Warde). Overall loyal, self-sacrificing, adventurous, unwilling to admit weaknesses, and in over her head 95% of the time (not that she’d admit to it).
Khutulun Dotharl
Blacksmith, Paladin, Dark Knight. The tribe celebrated when she was born because the khan declared that The-Warrior-Who-Won-10,000-Horses had finally returned to them and would lead them into a new era of prosperity with her martial prowess. Unfortunately Khutulun would much rather be the The-Warrior-Who-Forged-10,000-Blades. She traveled to Eorzea seeking a blacksmith apprenticeship to improve her craft with techniques not found on the Steppe and prove herself worthy of the soul she inherited even if she didn’t want to be a warrior. Realizing she possessed the Echo and what that meant put her blacksmithing endeavors on the back-burner and she picked up sword and shield (that she forged herself) because she could never say no to people in need. Failure to protect her friends at the Bloody Banquet drove her to pick up dark knight because if the world wasn’t going to peacefully let her be a blacksmith, then she wasn’t going to give the world peace either. Barely 20 at the start of Heavensward, with a very typical Dotharli outlook on both gender and life expectancy. Sapphic but not currently in a relationship.

I just re-read the entire Gojo vs Sukuna fight and all together it flows really well and the foreshadowing to the conclusion is there pretty consistently.
But fight mechanics aside, it strangely re-ignited my waning interest in JJK (not because I hate Gojo or love Sukuna), because I find it really interesting how it focused on Gojo's character as the "strongest" - what it cost him to get there, the choices he made, the goals he had about reforming Jujutsu, but also how scarily he fit into the value system of the old Jujutsu, where sorcerers fight for the thrill of the fight more than to protect something.
It's also a haunting full circle. How the old jujutsu system created both Gojo and Toji, how Gojo perfected his technique when he killed Toji but also became the strongest and lost Geto, how Toji in the moment of his death remembered Megumi entrusting him to Gojo, how Gojo raised him to serve his goals, which put him in Sukuna's path, leading to his possession and Gojo being beaten by Sukuna using Megumi's technique and by losing being "strongest", how in his death, just like Toji, he also reconnects to his loved ones.
Gojo is the pinnacle of the modern sorcerer, his technique is untouchability - and yet he couldn't win over Sukuna.
In a strange way, it makes me hopeful. Because as innovative and genius as Gojo is, he doesn't break the foundations of Jujutsu society. He's still playing the old game by the old rules.
I think this is where Yuji and Megumi come in. They are both characters who over and over choose each other over getting stronger. With disastrous results so far. But still they defy the conventional value system of Jujutsu society.
If Gojo and his isolation was the highest peak of power, I think the bond of Yuji and Megumi is what can surpass it. Megumi has the same potential as Gojo and who knows, tanking limitless, experiencing how Sukuna can use 10S so freely may have opened inside him something that will help him fight back from the inside while Yuji fights from the outside.

Did I never post this??? Found it in a folder and then searched my posts and apparently I didn't.
Anyway...
My Notes While Watching Daredevil 2003
First, the NYC building lights changing to braille, changing to text? Cool.
DD draped around the cross? Iconic.
DD splatting on the floor of the church? Typical.
My kiddo giggled.
Me: Oh Matty, you're so good at superheroing...
Oh wow, the young!Matt actor looks shockingly like Charlie Cox. Even more so than the kid in the Netflix series (which is fine though, that kid was a hell of an actor!)
Is his dad already retired from boxing at this point?
Special effects for Matt's senses is pretty cool. Possibly better than the 'world on fire' stuff in the series.
Ah, I see. Jack is going back to boxing, to get out from under Fallon's thumb?
No Stick? He's training himself?
Parkour!Matt
Oh damn, he's there in person? Hearing the whole murder?
OK this is all a little over-dramatic.
TF? He's in a sensory isolation tank? Weirdo.
Yikes, that is truly some hair.
LOL, Foggy is Happy Hogan, OMG.
Matt is a little too uptight for my liking. Maybe he'll feel better after punching somebody.
Woah, he's gonna start something in front of all those people? No back alley? Dude, at least take him out to the hallway...
Fuck. Flashing lights. There wasn't even a warning on this.
And apparently no descriptive audio??? Fail. HBO. Absolute fail.
Got my kiddo to tell me when the flashing lights were over. God I hate that shit. My head was already splitting.
Woah. Did he just let that guy die???
No no no. He left a calling card? Who is this? #NotmyMatthew.
He has a secret lair? And/or his apartment is in the church crypt? What even...
Why does Heather sound like she's calling from the 80s?
He just pulled out a tooth. Gross.
Wait wait wait... He *sleeps* in the isolation tank? Dramatic bitch.
Oh, they went full 'Irish priest' on the priest, huh? Irritating. Offensive.
Matt really is uptight. And do he and Foggy even like each other?
Oh its the hot girl radar.
Aaaaaand we get our first blind joke as Foggy has a coronary in the background. This feels more normal.
Oh, Matt, creepy stalker is not a good look.
WTF is this? In broad daylight? I assume this is Elektra?
Did not like any of that.
Well here we have someone who is obviously Fisk. Smarmy looking weasel is Wesley?
Mr. Natchios *daughter* would willingly and easily take your head off, Wilson.
Bullseye is a skinhead? A skinhead who is also Colin Farrell. OK then.
Oh look, finally a good fucking hallway.
You're not the bad guy, huh? You just stand in the rain like a sad puppy and convince yourself.
I love how Foggy assumes he's the plus one.
Why does Foggy put up with him being like that?
Self pity?? Get ahold of yourself Matthew.
"What happens to that lie detector of yours when it detects your own bullshit?"
Good question Fog.
Foggy has to know about his senses then, yeah? But it doesn't seem like he knows about Daredevil? That's... strange.
Oh god, it's the rain trope.
Definitely prefer the boxing ring sex scene. This is boring. Zero chemistry. Possibly because Ben Affleck has no emotional range.
Party time.
All the cigarettes and cigars must be hell for Matt.
Eww, he *sniffed* her. My Matt would never.
Aaaaaand the glasses trope. And now we're sad about his blindness. Gross.
Fight time!
Meh.
Oh damn, that was unexpected. Are we going to pit Elektra against Daredevil now?
Damn, more flashing lights.
Time for guilt and self flagellation...
No no no no.... It's Evanescence, I can no longer take this movie seriously.
Matthew left his billy club behind like an amateur.
Also, I just realized his cane is really short. Like... really short. That's weird. His sighted guide technique seems inconsistent too. Somebody needed more practice.
More Evanescence. Please send help.
Elektra's training montage looks like it was copied straight from BTVS. Could easily have been Eliza Dushku in that scene. In fact, maybe Eliza Dushku would have been better.
Well now what, kids? She's just gonna believe him that it wasn't his fault? Could we get a little emotion from these people?
Bullseye & Elektra fight! And it's over real fast.
Oh no, really? Is she getting fridged? Shit. That's disappointing. I wanted a full-on team-up to take down Kingpin.
Apparently Matt's radar has been knocked out a bit.
I dislike the smugness of this Bullseye. Our Dex was somehow more sympathetic, even if he was a horrible person. Granted, when is Colin Farrell ever sympathetic?
They really went for actors who refuse to emote. It's a whole theme here.
Oh damn, using the church bells against Matt? Clever.
None of these fights are doing it for me.
Damn, Wilson is just gonna Hulk smash our baby.
The lightning is killing me. And now with way too much rain. Like visual snow. Sensory nightmare. Can't even watch this fight.
Mr. Fisk, you've just made yourself an archenemy.
This is better Matt and Foggy banter. I guess Matt got some stuff out of his system. Apparently he's not that sad about Elektra?
Oh, that's a nice t-shirt.
Urich, you aren't gonna out him are you?
Nah, I didn't think so.
Woah. A mid-credits scene? That's a surprise. I recently watched The Incredible Hulk, and mentioned to kiddo that the final scene felt like it should have been a mid-credits scene. But I said that was less of a thing at the time. But this is even older. Weird.
OK. Thoughts. I feel like the entire script needed more editing. I feel like it didn't do enough to make Matt likeable. I needed more Foggy & Matt friendship and less snarking. Idk if part of it was Ben Affleck's acting, making Matt too stoic?
Elektra was incredibly disappointing. Especially the fridging. Yikes. Way to really counteract any build-up of the character and the little bit of agency she had, just to take her out like that. She should have been way more formidable.
There was definitely some cringey moments of ableism and stale blind tropes that easily could have been avoided if they'd had someone read the script with that in mind.
I've lost all respect for Joss Whedon over the years, but I feel like back in 2003, if he'd had the opportunity to edit this script, it would have been better. I kept looking at how they played Elektra, and all of the church imagery and stuff, and it felt almost like a knock-off of Buffy/Angel. So if you're going that route, just get the guy who knows how to do it successfully, right?
Anyway, it scratched a bit of the Daredevil itch. But there was a lot that I feel like could have been so much better with a little more effort on the script, and maybe a few different acting/directing choices.
And it could have had 100% fewer flashing light scenes. Damn, I really didn't remember movies being that bad about that in the early 2000s.
Speaking of the early 2000s, how about that soundtrack, huh? Ode to 2003 pop radio, lol. I had flashbacks to the office I worked in at the time and how the radio station was playing Evanescence like every third song all day long.

alone, hunt, fear, and monster for both watchful eyes and hammerfall plsssss
oh Fuck yeah absolutely!!
context for the unfamiliar: they're both pf2e characters; watchful eyes (she/her) is my gnoll barbarian and hammerfall at high noon (or hammerfall) (any but mainly they/he) is a leshy gunslinger (as well as some fire bullshit)!
(from this ask meme)
alone: How does your OC deal with loneliness? Have they ever been completely alone before? How do they act when there's no one around to see them?
watchful eyes: uhhh badly! like really badly! in fact, being abandoned and alone is her deepest fear!! jfdklsajfdskfdls she was definitely completely isolated after she was separated from her original family until she found the orcs who ended up taking her in and she never wants to go through that again. but when she's alone at home, she ends up just being... quiet. meditative, almost. tends to talk to her mentor's skull to fill the silence when it goes on a little too long.
tbh i feel like she won't sleep alone if she can help it. part of why she loves going on missions is having a convenient excuse to sleep wrapped around her friends
hammerfall: hammerfall actually.... tbh i don't think he'd mind being alone. they've spent a lot of their time either actually or functionally alone, sometimes for working reasons and sometimes for traveling reasons. there was definitely a period where he was traveling through the mana wastes all on his own and he doesn't think much of it! they act pretty similarly alone to with people -- perhaps a little more willing to divulge their gunsmithing secrets bcus no one's around to hear them and they want to talk themselves through a project, or to the project.
hunt: Who or what is your OC hunted by? A person, a feeling, a past mistake? Is your OC able to let their guard down, or are they constantly alert?
watchful eyes: watchful eyes feels like she is constantly outrunning a moment of failure, a moment where she will no longer be strong enough to protect the people she loves. if she trains hard enough, she feels like she can out pace it for longer, even if she doesn't do so with that thought consciously in mind. she's often on alert when on missions, but at home at the lodge she will turn into a big, cuddly puddle for a while.
hammerfall: hmm... i feel like, even if he doesn't realize it, hammerfall is running from what happened to Pops. they're consciously chasing new gun techniques and new skills, but some part of them knows that going home means facing the changes Pops has gone through, and continues to go through now that they've left. he doesn't know what to do about it, or if he can, but that thought's for another day, as far as he's concerned.
also, 100% always has a hand near their gun. even when among friends. there's a reason his clothes are leather but his holsters are made of his body.
fear: What is your OC's greatest fear? What do they do when confronted with it? Are they open with their fear, or do they hide it away?
watchful eyes: see above jfkdlasfjds being abandoned and alone is her deepest fear, and she tries very, very hard not to let that happen. she starts to buckle whenever it comes up, though as much as possible she pushes off that melting until she's safe again. i really don't think she'd talk about it, though, not to others, because she doesn't want them to worry unnecessarily about her! she's supposed to be a tank, after all.
hammerfall: so canonically? the answer is that they... don't have one. hammerfall grew up in a terrifying environment and is an immortal soul temporarily bound to a physical body. fire is just a thing that Lives In Him. they have no reason to fear god nor creature, because at the end of the day, this is one lifetime of many, and they're the best shot they know. i feel like this shows, tbh, esp when the people around him are experiencing Horrors™
monster: Is your OC monstrous in any way? Is there something that makes them monstrous? Are they aware of their own monstrosity? Do they accept it or reject it?
answered watchful eyes here!
hammerfall: so here's like. the thing. i honestly?? honestly?? think hammerfall is fucking unsettling to look at. like, even if they look like any other sagebrush leshy, the smoke constantly rising from their body and the way they hold themself, plus the gun and the fact that they stand like they're always ready to shoot clearly makes them an outlier. i don't think he's necessarily monstrous, but unless someone is used to dealing with magic bullshit, i think you'd struggle to be around him for very long. and that's before they open their mouth to start talking about guns or the mana wastes or their life before the current mission and make vague references to doing crime and eating meat and their six-armed Pops.
thank you so much for the ask : D!!!
#ciaran attempts socializing#literalliterature#listen. i love them both so much#hammerfall is fucking Wild bcus he fears nothing and understands slightly more than that#they're just. like they're a little guy. i also think they'd be weird to hang out with#fun fact we got to see watchful eyes's worst fear in another adventure and she literally starting crying out about it.#like full on animalistic howling crying out. it was great

btw, a detail i think has been lost in the egghogs conversation is that eggman has a LOT LOT LOT more territory than in canon. he is still being challenged, but his sons are OP and he doesn't know just how good he has it until two of them are gone. and sonic can't pick up the slack. which makes them lose territory. and sonic starts getting deployed less and less which makes him even more isolated. and his self esteem tanks. all the while, all the work he did with his family is falling away and being undone. pain and suffering on evil baby technique

VERSE 005 ( doors to the deathless )
The doors of the deathless are open, Brahmā, for those who have ears. They enter with veneration, devoid of hatred, the beings in Magadha listen
Suguru's teacher verse is based on a small alteration of the canonical timeline. The main difference is that the curse at Nanako and Mimiko's village was assessed to be a grade two instead of one. So Kento Nanami was dispatched in Suguru's stead. This then leads to a chain of events that eventually land Suguru in Kyoto as a teacher. But before I venture into what I will portray Suguru's disposition to be like in this verse, I wanted to clarify something else about my portrayal.
Suguru's built up frustration was never directed towards jujutsu society. Unlike Gojo, who believes the higher-ups' schemes are to blame, Geto saw a greater problem that referred to the practice of jujutsu in general ( as long as non-sorcerers keep producing curses, jujutsu sorcerers will keep dying thankless deaths to protect them) Suguru himself has always expressed contempt towards those weaker than him in canon. However, being the other side of the coin to Gojo's vanity, this contempt translated to a responsibility to protect them, justifying the power imbalance and the suffering he had to endure. I as a writer subscribe to this interpretation of the character and as a result Suguru's contemptuous attitude towards nonshamans continues to be evident in this verse. However, since there was one less violent experience throughout his downward spiral ( poor Nanami takes the blow instead ;~; ) we can say the proverbial glass of his hatred towards them was filled to the brim but did not overspill.
VERSE SUMMARY:
Suguru is a special training teacher in Kyoto High. Albeit his specialty being martial arts, he is very knowledgeable when it comes to curses and utilizes his technique to create simulations for his students to practice. Suguru is known for his whimsical teaching style and prompting his students to think on their ideals and goals through practicing jujutsu. Much like his Tokyo counterpart, Satoru, his practices are frowned upon by the higher-ups and he is considered a bit of a wild card, especially because of how liberally he expresses his dislike for non-shamans.
This verse will primarily be used to build dynamics with muses that can't interact much in the canon timeline as well as explore 'what-if' scenarios. Kenjaku will not be present in this verse.
Suguru's default age for this verse is 27 years old. As this is just a skeleton for the verse, the status of Mimiko and Nanako's adoption is left vague ( either took custody of them from Nanami, they are being raised in Tokyo High, they are being raised by Gojo, etc etc ) Suguru's parents are also alive in this verse ( so if anyone wants to ask for his hand in marriage you'll need permission )
Verse Timeline & Tidbits under the cut.
VERSE TIMELINE:
March-May 2006: Riko Amanai is assassinated by Toji Fushiguro. Suguru takes in his cursed inventory spirit.
Summer of 2006: Suguru begins to develop severe PTSD symptoms as a result of the encounter.
Autumn of 2006-Winter of 2007: Suguru's mental health is at a steady decline, worsened by the consumption of curses and isolation from his friend group.
August 2007: Satoru Gojo officially becomes The Strongest. Suguru's mental health has tanked severely in the previous months. A conversation with Yuki Tsukumo leads him to the inevitable conclusion that the root of the problem are non-sorcerers. Whilst bidding goodbye, Yuki tells him that a new vessel has been found for Tengen.
September 2007: Suguru is sent on a mission that is soon discovered to be staged by TVA members in order to attain Tengen's new appointed vessel. That tips the glass for Suguru, leading him to annihilate the cult's members instead of taking over — automatically being branded as dangerous and ordered for execution. A petition is signed by Jujutsu High staff members to settle a court date before the execution takes place.
October 2007: His friends and juniors vouch for Suguru's integrity and buy out his freedom, in exchange for limitations on his cursed technique. Suguru is given the choice to either retire from the frontlines and instead be given a teaching job after he graduates with a binding vow/cap on his own cursed technique, or be executed. He goes with the second option, but Gojo interferes and essentially backs him up into a teaching job. That inevitably drives a wedge between the two best friends. aka they break up in front of the KFC still
2010: Suguru officially graduates highschool and is appointed as a special training teacher in Kyoto.
CURSED TECHNIQUE BINDING VOW:
After trial, the higher-ups forced Suguru to take a binding vow that limits him from using his cursed technique, unless he or another sorcerer is under imminent threat. That implies there would always need to be another sorcerer present in order for Suguru to summon spirits, thus he'd only be able to use jujutsu under supervision. Windows and affiliates are included in this vow.
In addition, he cannot use Maximum: Uzumaki without sacrificing his own life in the process. If utilized, Uzumaki will be performed at a 300% of its standard power, but Suguru will be consumed by it first, similarly to how Mahoraga works, yet not exactly. Suguru has figured out a way to merge cursed spirits on his own accord, however there are limitations in regards to the power level of the outcome.
RELATIONSHIP WITH THE STUDENTS:
Suguru is not exactly a favorite among the students, although he is the one they flock to for most of their troubles. He has a great relationship with Noritoshi and a rocky one with Mai Zenin, especially after publicly declaring that he refuses to train her. Momo also dislikes him for that reason.
TIDBITS & CHARACTER QUIRKS:
Suguru is known for his impossibly hard training regimens. He's quite brutal when it comes to discipline routines.
Suguru maintains a relationship with Yuki in this verse, often texting back and forth or meeting up to talk outside of work. Yuki has scouted students for him at times. It's a colleague based thing. He still hasn't answered her question as to his type.
Once per year Suguru travels back to Tokyo with a heavy heart to participate in the exchange event with his students. He hates the teacher nomikai parties.
Suguru has a pet cat-like curse based on the bakeneko yokai. He has named her Wasabi. This curse is non-hostile unless the user is threatened, wears a napkin on its head and does little dances.
In addition, Suguru has kept Fushiguro's inventory spirit and does sometimes utilize it, although usually he keeps it in its shrunk form in his uniform pocket.
Suguru will still accompany his students on missions at times, in order to watch over them. His consumption of curses is very gradual and rare, technically forbidden by the higher-ups, however Suguru still makes pacts with his students to acquire higher grade cursed spirits with the pretext of ensuring they won't be respawning if consumed.
He has his own room in the Kyoto High dormitory.

headcanon. douma's blood art origin.
Hello uwu In the past I've made some headcanons on the way Douma's blood art works and his ice sculpting abilities. So, today I'd like to talk a bit about my take on the way Douma's blood art manifested. My personal take is a 50/50 on canon compliance, meaning I have built it around canonical information and added but not altered anything. Douma's backstory offers a lot of room for creativity, after all!
Before I go on my little rant, here's some stuff about demonic blood art that I base these headcanons around:
Each demon is capable of developing a unique 'blood art', the techniques of which can be utilized solely by them ( but can be known and identified by Muzan Kibutsuji )
The way each demon will develop their individual blood art seems to rely on both their psyche ( who they were before they were turned ) and their own physical and mental capabilities or skills! For example, Akaza got to keep his Soryu Style and develop it with his blood art.
Blood art seems to be a reflection of the demon's emotional world and attachments from their human life as well. For example, some demons' techniques were shaped by their artistic talents, such as Gyokko's pots, Kyogai's tsuzumi, Nakime's biwa etc
The strength of one's blood art depends on several factors, such as their anciency, the number of humans they have consumed but also ... just practice! As shown in Akaza's case, where he prefers to physically hone his martial art rather than eat to grow stronger, as well as Kokushibo's case, who, despite being a picky eater as well is still leagues above any other demon created after him.
The use of blood art requires the user to actively focus in order to perform the attacks. The better the focus, the more accurate the results. If a demon loses their focus, their blood art will lose its potency as well — as shown when Douma's ice clones begin to crack and shatter because he is melting alive from Shinobu's poison.
Other information this headcanon is based on:
The practice of cold exposure in Shinto; 'cold water purification'
The concept of the 'float tank', invented in 1954 by John C. Lilly
Misogi ( ablution ) aka washing oneself in cold water for cleansing purposes
Buddhist cold exposure practices meant to cultivate mental fortitude
tw; mentions of child abuse, traumatic events
When Douma was born, his parents believed that he had otherworldly powers because of his striking features. Specifically, he was seen as a messenger from the Gods. That implies an expectation for a message to be delivered. So, from the moment he had learned to talk, every noise that came out of the prodigal child's mouth was taken, analyzed, assigned several possible meanings and then used to spew confusion and chaos among the faithful — so they would flock to their Lord Founder even more in an attempt to alleviate their existential anxieties. But Douma was just a child back then. And that sometimes became apparent; he could not always conjure a story that would convince the adults, after all. He didn't have the answers. So, in frustration of being given this impossible task, he often cried in the hearings.
Concerned, his parents believed it to be a result of spiritual turmoil, because he was a being that belonged to the Heavens but had been sent as a herald on Earth. There was a discrepancy between body and soul. So, they sought to help him isolate mentally from his physical body in order to become more in tune with his dualistic nature. Douma was taught how to meditate from a young age, but because it often involved long fasts and sleep deprivation, he couldn't always follow through. They looked for a way to 'force' a state of deep meditation on him, a sort of 'numbing slumber' that would detach his immortal soul from his physical shell.
On of the more questionable techniques they tried were the ice baths. The child would be slowly submerged in a tub filled with dry ice and river water and held there until his skin reached the condition where pressing on it left a mark. Then, he would be brought back out and towel dried. It was thought that, while in this state, Douma would communicate with the Other World and carry the truths he learned back into the physical one. Initially the room was supposed to be dark and empty to allow him to concentrate better, but eventually it became sort of a cult ritual. To be held down in ice water until your skin grows numb is one thing, but being pulled out of the torture into a room full of people commenting on it was so traumatic it caused a violent dissociation in Douma.
And that's where he gets his blood art 'focus' from, primarily. That's Douma's equivalent to, say, Akaza's mental fortitude or Kokushibo's relentlessness. When utilizing cryokinesis Douma's mental state mimics that dissociation — it is his lack of emotion that makes the attacks accurate and calculated.
Of course that's not all there is to it; many metaphors could be assigned to why ice in specific is Douma's true element. Water, fresh and living, is an element that has flow and the ability to move; whereas ice is rigid and stiff, just like Douma was incapable of moving past his traumatic beginnings in life. Ice is also uninviting and makes for hostile environments where life cannot flourish and grow; just like Douma himself is a toxic individual that leeches off of people's lives and, eventually, adds them to his own. Unlike heat, ice has a passive/deathly element to it as it is essentially when particles become sluggish. Just as fire is often paralleled to desire, ice symbolizes hatred and indifference.
tl/dr; If we go by the theory that a demon can choose their blood art subconsciously, then Douma's was created as a blend of the things that shaped his human life, aka the cult's practices, but also his personal traits that tie into the element's intrinsic themes.
#(( Ive referenced this in threads at times but I wanted a more comprehensive post bc it is a big part of my portrayal ))#♛ ¦ ʜᴜᴍᴀɴꜱ ᴀʀᴇ ꜱᴏ ɪᴍᴀɢɪɴᴀᴛɪᴠᴇ ༺ headcanon.#child abuse tw#long post tw

re: group-think and thought-control and your two examples (dusty internet corner think tanks and radical bipartisanship) i think it definitely DOES still count, only that the central figure of unquestionable power has shifted from a concept of a leader to an enemy... its not about blindly worshipping god anymore so much as it is about blindly fighting against what you are taught to perceive is the devil. and i think that's almost more dangerous, this rallying AGAINST an 'other'/outsider instead of FOR an 'other'/outsider...
sorry you didn't ask LOL i just have thought about this before and noticed this slow transition of focus... same techniques they're just being weaponized differently...
Ok I’m going to kind of ramble hold on
Perhaps it’s the Information Age in which we live where the currency of data trumps the charisma of the singular but like. I think you’re so right. The invention of the other or “them” isolates and entangles followers just as effectively as a single person inventing the “us”. In traditional definitions a singular person and conduit of a singular doctrine of ideas and power was required to maintain control in what we think of as cults or fascist regimes.
But nowadays those same symptoms of group think and control are seen in entirely decentralized spaces- best seen on the internet. The concept of the idea and the information fleshing it out has evolved into what I can only accurately describe as a creature? Where it grows the more eyes and minds and voices it has but can mutate and asexually reproduce into smaller factions under the freedom of forum discussion. There is so much secret sneaky hate speech online that you have to be CONSTANTLY vigilant unless you want to accidentally adopt it without knowing where it comes from. The language is the tool.
Like, people are quite literally indoctrinating themselves. There’s no evil big bad Guy at the top of any of these micro movements. Usually at least. And we know. FACTUALLY know. These Are slip n slides into racist and white supremacist and antisemitic and transphobic etc thought. No amount of education on dog whistles and red flags can prepare you for something that is constantly changing with the man power of an internet collective and impossible to pinpoint in a faceless comment army.
I think it’s way more dangerous nowadays the nature of the internet, it’s ability to create these intense micro communities, enables a culture of self policing to remain within the community as opposed to a policing imposed by a singular force (that you could then blame/oppose when the community no longer serves you). I love my niche little community here, but so easily something as harmless as an aesthetic can transform.
The idea AND the “leader” is the power of people. and some are so deeply embroiled in it that it’s us or them without someone to look up to. I honestly think the quickness at which some groups turn into webcults is symptomatic of how isolation and demeaning capitalism is. I could go on and on about how the old structures were like substrate for these new ones to bloom but I think we all get it already. Sometimes I think the phenomenon has bifurcated too.
Hate groups and propaganda thought creature communities on one side, and totally “benign” idolatry in the modern cult of celebrities on the other. The way some people are so fucking QUICK to defend a stranger bc they’re a celebrity is as dangerous and brainwashed as a real cult, and most of the time the celebrity has nothing to do with the community that’s gathered around them to worship them. It’s fucking WEIRD. all bc the internet gives us intimate and encouraged access to the lives of people we do not know and will never know. Again, commodification, capitalism, etc.
The most heinous situations are those celebrities that see the following they’ve amassed and weaponize it- those I think are cults closer to traditional definitions even if mostly online. And even if they don’t have the same hallmarks. Sometimes an online life and fandom is as draining and isolating as the real life work a brick and mortar cult might do. Give your resources, time, energy, love, renounce those who do not understand, support the leader blindly, etc.
idk. I could probably go on for another 87 pages but I won’t lmao
I hope this made sense <<33

From Reality to Fiction: How CIA Documents Inspired Stranger Things
Stranger Things: A Blend of Sci-Fi and Real History
Since its debut, Stranger Things has captivated audiences worldwide with its eerie storytelling and supernatural mysteries. But what many fans don’t realize is that the show’s foundation is deeply rooted in reality. The secret experiments at Hawkins National Laboratory and Eleven’s powers draw heavily from declassified CIA programs like MKUltra and STAR GATE. These aren’t just wild theories—they’re backed by real documents, freely available in the CIA Reading Room for anyone to explore.
The Real Inspirations: MKUltra and STAR GATE
MKUltra: Mind Control by the CIA
From the 1950s to the 1970s, the CIA conducted MKUltra, a top-secret program exploring mind control techniques. Experiments ranged from LSD administration to sensory deprivation and hypnosis. In Stranger Things, the parallels are clear: Eleven and other children are subjected to intense experiments to develop and harness their mental powers, just as MKUltra sought to manipulate the human mind.
STAR GATE: Remote Viewing and Psychic Powers
From the 1970s through the 1990s, the STAR GATE program investigated the potential of Remote Viewing, where individuals attempted to perceive distant or hidden locations using only their minds. In Stranger Things, Eleven demonstrates this ability repeatedly, using sensory deprivation tanks to locate people and objects far away.
Techniques: The Real Meets the Fictional
1. Sensory Deprivation Tanks: A Portal to Other Worlds
In Stranger Things, Eleven uses sensory deprivation to amplify her abilities. This method directly mirrors real-world experiments where tanks were used to isolate subjects from external stimuli, fostering deep mental focus. The concept traces back to John C. Lilly’s isolation tank studies, which also influenced MKUltra.
2. Remote Viewing Protocols: Fact or Fiction?
In STAR GATE, participants were trained to describe distant locations by focusing their minds on specific coordinates. While results varied, some successes, like accurately identifying hidden military sites, were striking. Eleven’s mental explorations mimic these techniques, albeit dramatized for effect.
3. Numbered Test Subjects: A Nods to MKUltra
In the series, Eleven is designated as “011,” implying many other test subjects. Similarly, CIA experiments anonymized participants with code names or numbers, especially in MKUltra studies involving vulnerable populations like orphans or prisoners.
Stranger Things and CIA Documents: A Tangible Connection
What makes these connections fascinating is that the history behind Stranger Things isn’t pure fiction. The CIA Reading Room, an extensive online database of declassified documents, offers everyone the chance to read about programs like MKUltra and STAR GATE in detail.
How to Access the Documents:
• Visit the CIA Reading Room.
• Use search terms like “MKUltra,” “STAR GATE,” or “Remote Viewing.”
• Explore millions of pages that reveal the extraordinary lengths governments went to in their pursuit of power.
Conclusion: Stranger Things Is Closer to Reality Than You Think
The creators of Stranger Things skillfully blend real-world inspirations with supernatural storytelling. By borrowing from programs like MKUltra and STAR GATE, the series offers a chilling reminder of how far governments are willing to go in the name of science and security.
While Eleven’s adventures take us to alternate dimensions, the truth behind the experiments she endured can be found in history itself. The real question remains: how much of this is truly behind us?
Want to dive deeper into the connections between Stranger Things and real government experiments? Don’t miss the music by Betweenzone, a band inspired by mysterious stories and thought-provoking narratives, blending reality with artistic imagination. Their tracks will take you on a journey that perfectly complements the intrigue of these stories.

Advice for beginner audio drama writers- Gabriel Urbina
Gabriel Urbina is known for Wolf 359, and as humble as he is, I feel like anyone with a published show as popular as that one is qualified to offer at least a few tips for newbies. His article on his blog can be found here.
Do your homework
The first step to figuring out how to write an audio drama is to listen to a lot of audio dramas. Not just in your genre, either! The more you listen to, the more you understand how it's done. I suppose trying to write one purely from how-to articles is like trying to write a novel purely from craft books. It will feel formulaic and not quite 'right.' You need to see a story played out and the devices writers use to get a feel for it.
Urbina points out that you might be able to be inspired by a technique you find interesting or a way to get around something that might just not be possible in audio drama. He likens it to building an arsenal before going into battle.
And don't just listen to modern ones! Urbina recommends Wyllis Cooper, the Mercury Theater, and Lucille Fletcher from the "Golden Age" of the 1930s-1950s.
2. Put fuel in the tank
Listen, read, and watch things that get you excited, not just audio dramas. Watch your favorite movie again, or read your favorite book. Anything that lights up your brain and gets you inspired to create something that awesome. As Urbina puts it- 'if something can give you the drive to spend another day or hour or minute toiling away at your story it's worth it.'
3. Write for the ears
Constantly think about how the audience is going to be listening- and they will be listening. So some things just won't work- you won't be able to pull off visual gags or complex scenes that require the audience to see what's going on to get it. Find another way to do it or somehow sum it up in an interesting way, or leave the idea by the wayside. [And a side note from me: keep those ideas in a separate document. You'll never know when you'll think of a way to use them.]
In general, make sure the story is clear and focused, and give enough information that the audience fills in the gaps in the way they need to.
4. Structure backwards
Start with the last piece of the puzzle- where does the plot end at the episode, season, or series? If you don't know that yet, try to see if you know where the audience needs to be emotionally and mentally. What will they have learned by the end? How will you leave them? If you know your destination as well as your starting point, the journey there is easier.
And don't be afraid to get messy with it. Urbina says he uses notebook pages and scrawls down bad ideas to get them 'out of the way' so he can get the writing done. But the bad ideas are just as useful as the good ones. Think of it like clearing a pipe. You're gonna have to get the gunk out and run the dirty water until you get to the usable stuff. And if you keep going, you will get to the good stuff. I promise.
5. Restrictions are your friends
Urbina uses a simile that writing is like a jigsaw puzzle, but the pieces are mixed in with different puzzles' pieces. If you keep trying to dump out every piece of every box, you'll end up with far too many pieces. Resist that urge and instead say 'I'll only let myself get more pieces once I've done everything I can with the pieces I have out right now.' Urbina says it's helped him be more efficient with his writing.
Wolf 359, if you don't know the story, is about four characters' audio diaries recorded in and about an isolated space they can't leave. Even with these fairly limited conditions, Urbina sometimes made even stricter ones- only two characters, or only in one room. Figuring out how those pieces fit will stretch your writing capabilities for sure, and it will also make you a better writer.
6. Don't be defined by the medium's strengths and limitations but be aware of what they are
There are some stories that are better suited for audio- comedies and horror, for example- and some that aren't, like romances. But that doesn't mean it can't be done. You're the creator of your world, and if you figure out how to do something, all the more power to you. You should experiment and innovate. At the same time, be aware of how hard the process will be and gather supplies as needed.
7. Listen
Read your script out loud at least once. The written word is one thing, speech is a different beast altogether. Read it by yourself, of course, but also listen to your actors. You'll catch awkward phrasing. And this step also encapsulates listening to suggestions from others. If you try out the suggestion, something that will probably only take a couple of minutes, you'll feel if it's working or not nearly immediately.
8. Don't follow every piece of advice
If a bunch of people are bringing up the same problem in your writing, then it probably is a problem and you should work to fix it. If only one person says it's a problem, it may be more of a taste thing, or even something you intended! If you, say, laid some foreshadowing and someone picked it up without realizing its importance, then leave it. But if ten people say 'this part was confusing,' then maybe work to straighten it out and not make it as obscure.
As Urbina writes, 'sometimes [criticisms] have as much to do with the individual who's engaging with your work and their subjectivity as much as with your work itself.' In other words, everyone brings their own experience and hang-ups and preferences to every work they read, so don't be surprised when two people have vastly different opinions about the same line.
9. Be kind to yourself
Be proud of smaller accomplishments along the way, not just the very end. After all, the only way to get to the finish line is to pass a whole lot of mile markers. Doing anything creative at all almost requires anxiety and despair and self-doubt, but most of the time you have to ignore those voices. Sure, sometimes tough love is necessary, but if you let yourself be ruled by those feelings, this thing you love will turn into something you despise.
10. Be ready for it to be difficult
You will most likely not nail the whole 'audio drama' thing your first go-around. Audio drama, as a medium, are hard. They require the audience's undivided attention but offer less stimuli than TV, movies, and books. You can't exactly do chores and read a physical book at the same time. I personally don't know a single person who sits and listen to a podcast without doing anything else. It happens. But don't let the fear of sucking stop you. The only way to get better is to do more. And while podcasts are becoming more popular than ever, the subset of those people who listen to audio dramas is incredibly small compared to the rest of the world. It's niche, and the truth is that not everyone will like your particular story.
Be patient. It might take years for people to discover your work, but if you don't create it in the first place, then there's nothing to be discovered.
11. Be ready for it to be amazing
As much as the last ten points cautioned you, this point is about all the positives. Audio dramas are fast- you can finish a script on Monday, rehearse on Tuesday-Thursday, record on Friday, and have a finished product by the start of the following week. It's fast in a way that TV shows, movies, and novels aren't.
And, if you'll tolerate an aside from me: audio dramas don't need to be pitched to seven major companies that run everything in the medium. You can do it with yourself, some friends, and a little bit of spare money if you really want. There's no one saying you can't, so you might as well give yourself permission to say 'I can.'
12. Finally
Your process is just that- yours. You can read all the guides and advice you want, but you will have to find ways for you to do it yourself. It's just you, your brain, and a keyboard/notebook in the end. If some piece of advice everyone swears by doesn't work for you, disregard it! Try everything of course, but don't try to adhere to something that 'everyone uses so it must be the way to do it.' As Urbina writes: 'the products of your writing are for the world to enjoy, but the steps you take to get there are for an audience of you alone, so be as selfish, self-centered, and self-aware as you possibly can.'
Another aside from me: there's nothing wrong with making stupid jokes in the margins. I remember personally writing in religion class that Jesus Christ and His Apostles were 'J.C. and The Boys.' It's for you, and just have as much fun as you can. Like Urbina points out, your process is private. You don't have to share every (or any!) part of it with anyone.
Urbina finishes the article with a 'TL:DR' that sums up the main points, as well as shares a guide from Stephen Sondheim's 'Finishing the Hat:'
Content dictates form
Less is more
God is in the details
which all serves
CLARITY.

Hot tapping services are specialized procedures that allow for connections to be made to pipelines, tanks, or vessels under pressure without the need for a shutdown. This technique enables safe drilling into active systems to install branch connections or to isolate sections of a line for repairs. Often used in industries like oil and gas, chemical, and water, hot tapping minimizes downtime and reduces operational costs while maintaining safety standards.

How Effective Sewage Treatment Can Save Ecosystems Worldwide
Introduction
As urban centers burgeon and industrial landscapes expand, our ecosystems stand at the frontline, often facing relentless pollution from untreated or inadequately treated sewage. Effective sewage treatment is no longer just a matter of convenience or urban planning; it is an essential measure for safeguarding aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems worldwide. From freshwater bodies to coastal marine areas, untreated sewage seeps into these delicate environments, overwhelming natural processes and contributing to the erosion of biodiversity and natural resources. In addressing this growing challenge, we must consider a holistic approach that champions sustainable sewage treatment methodologies, preserves water quality, and supports environmental resilience.
The Gravity of Untreated Sewage on Ecosystems
Untreated sewage contains a cocktail of contaminants, ranging from organic waste and pathogens to hazardous chemicals and heavy metals. When this waste infiltrates our waterways, it alters the very chemistry of these ecosystems. Excessive nitrogen and phosphorus — key elements in untreated sewage — can lead to nutrient pollution, resulting in rampant algal blooms. While these blooms may seem harmless on the surface, they deplete oxygen levels in the water, creating hypoxic zones where few organisms can survive. This phenomenon, known as eutrophication, devastates fish populations and disrupts entire aquatic ecosystems.
Beyond the water, untreated sewage impacts soil quality, groundwater, and terrestrial habitats. Pathogens from sewage infiltrate these areas, posing threats not only to wildlife but to human health as well. In essence, untreated sewage sets off a domino effect, impairing entire ecosystems and reducing the resilience of natural habitats to withstand environmental stresses. To tackle this issue at its core, implementing robust sewage treatment systems is imperative, capable of effectively removing contaminants before they interact with the environment.
Key Elements of an Effective Sewage Treatment System
A truly effective sewage treatment system operates on the foundation of innovation, sustainability, and environmental consideration. Modern systems utilize a multi-stage process to isolate, treat, and neutralize harmful pollutants in wastewater. Here are a few fundamental components of an advanced sewage treatment plant:
Primary Treatment — This initial stage involves the physical separation of large solids from wastewater. Using screens and settling tanks, the sewage treatment system removes floating debris and allows solid waste to settle at the bottom. This sludge is then collected and treated separately.
Secondary Treatment — Here, biological processes are harnessed to break down dissolved organic materials. By introducing aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, wastewater is metabolized, reducing the presence of harmful pathogens and organic pollutants. This step is essential for ensuring that effluents meet environmental standards.
Tertiary Treatment — To further purify the water, tertiary treatment uses advanced filtration, chemical disinfection, and nutrient removal techniques. This stage targets residual nutrients and chemicals, transforming wastewater into water that is safe for release into the environment or for reuse.
Sludge Treatment — Sludge is a byproduct of sewage treatment and requires its own distinct treatment process. Through digestion, dewatering, and stabilization, sludge is transformed into a manageable, less toxic material. Efficient sludge treatment not only protects the environment but opens possibilities for converting waste into energy.
Slurry Separation — Industrial and agricultural wastewater often contains a mixture of solid and liquid waste, making slurry separators a critical tool for effective waste management. Slurry separation technologies help isolate solid waste from liquid effluent, facilitating safer disposal and reducing the burden on treatment systems.
Each of these steps is an integral piece in the overall framework of sewage treatment, enabling waste to be managed efficiently, responsibly, and sustainably. These processes, when optimized, yield effluents that can be safely returned to the environment, creating a cycle that supports ecosystem preservation.
Advanced Technologies Shaping the Future of Sewage Treatment
To meet the challenges of modern sewage treatment, innovation is essential. With climate change impacting water scarcity and quality, advanced treatment technologies are stepping up to reduce the environmental footprint of wastewater management. Let’s explore a few promising technologies that can redefine the sewage treatment landscape.
Membrane Bioreactors (MBRs) — MBRs combine biological treatment with membrane filtration, offering exceptional filtration capacity for both solid and dissolved contaminants. These systems are ideal for areas facing limited water resources, as they enable treated wastewater to be reused with minimal environmental impact.
Anaerobic Sludge Digesters — Utilizing the anaerobic digestion process, these digesters transform organic sludge into biogas, a renewable energy source. This dual-purpose approach not only reduces sludge volume but also contributes to the sustainable energy grid, making it a win-win for environmental and energy goals.
Eco-friendly Disinfection Systems — Traditional chlorine disinfection poses its own risks to aquatic environments. In response, eco-friendly alternatives like ultraviolet (UV) and ozone disinfection are gaining traction. These systems eliminate pathogens without releasing harmful byproducts, ensuring that treated water reenters ecosystems without compromising native flora and fauna.
Smart Valves and Automation — Efficient water flow management is crucial in sewage treatment. Slide valves offer precise control over wastewater movement within treatment facilities, allowing systems to respond in real timeto varying loads and environmental conditions. Automated monitoring ensures that treatment plants operate with maximum efficiency and minimal waste.
These technological advances representa shift towards more responsible and efficient wastewater treatment. By integrating these solutions into sewage treatment infrastructure, municipalities, and industries can mitigate the environmental footprint of wastewater, protecting ecosystems from excessive nutrient pollution, pathogen introduction, and chemical contamination.
Environmental and Economic Benefits of Effective Sewage Treatment
Effective sewage treatment delivers a host of benefits that extend beyond environmental protection. Economically, investing in advanced sewage treatment infrastructure can save governments and organizations significant costs in the long term. The costs of cleaning polluted ecosystems, managing waterborne diseases, and repairing degraded natural resources are substantial. Sewage treatment, therefore, is not merely an operational expense but a preventative measure that yields returns through avoided ecological damage, health-related expenses, and resource degradation.
Ecologically, sewage treatment helps restore the balance of natural systems. By curtailing the influx of pollutants into waterways, treatment systems create an environment conducive to biodiversity and habitat stability. Clean water enables fish populations to flourish, vegetation to thrive, and larger predators to sustain themselves without the bioaccumulation of toxins. In coastal areas, proper sewage treatment safeguards coral reefs and other sensitive marine ecosystems, which are often the first to be affected by nutrient and chemical pollution.
Global Examples of Sewage Treatment Success
Several countries have pioneered exemplary sewage treatment programs, showcasing the profound positive impact these systems have on local and global ecosystems.
Singapore — Known for its sustainable water management, Singapore treats wastewater to potable quality using its NEWater initiative. Through advanced treatment techniques, including microfiltration and UV disinfection, Singapore produces high-quality reclaimed water that supplements its drinking supply, minimizing the environmental impact on surrounding water bodies.
Netherlands — The Dutch sewage treatment system is renowned for its integration of anaerobic digestion and biogas production, effectively converting wastewater into energy. Additionally, the Netherlands has invested in nutrient recovery technologies, ensuring that phosphorus and other valuable nutrients are recycled, reducing reliance on fertilizers.
Japan — Japan’s sewage treatment plants are equipped with high-efficiency sludge processing systems, allowing for energy recovery and minimal sludge disposal. This has significantly reduced pollution in its rivers and coastal areas, preserving native aquatic species and sustaining local fishing industries.
These examples serve as a testament to the power of sewage treatment, underscoring that with the right technology and commitment, ecosystems can be safeguarded even amid urban and industrial growth.
The Path Forward: A Global Mandate for Ecosystem Preservation
In a rapidly urbanizing world, effective sewage treatment is indispensable to ecological resilience. To realize its full potential, stakeholders — ranging from policymakers and industries to local communities — must collaborate in building robust sewage treatment frameworks. Legislation and regulatory standards must evolve to enforce sustainable sewage treatment practices, while public awareness campaigns can foster a deeper understanding of the issue.
From enhancing local treatment facilities to investing in cutting-edge technologies like MBRs and biogas generation, the solutions are within reach. As we collectively move towards a future of sustainability, the role of effective sewage treatment in saving ecosystems cannot be overstated. It is our responsibility to ensure that these technologies and practices are not confined to affluent nations but are accessible globally, particularly in regions facing the highest environmental risks.
Conclusion
With a proactive approach, sewage treatment can become a global movement toward ecosystem preservation, helping to restore and protect our waterways, forests, and coastal habitats. As we step forward with purpose and resolve, every advancement in sewage treatment brings us closer to a world where ecosystems and human communities coexist harmoniously, grounded in mutual respect and sustainable stewardship.
