Call for Submissions: Windward Review Vol. 21 Myths and Hauntings

This is an invitation to submit your work and take part in the TAMUCC literary journal "The Windward Review" for the year 2023, taking inspiration from the theme 'Myths and Hauntings'!!!

IMPORTANT INFO: Deadline is March 5th, 2023, both journal submissions and flash contest submissions are the same theme and can be found here, and top three submissions will receive a cash prize, prominence in the journal, and two physical copies of the Windward Review Journal for themselves!

We would love both literary or artistic submissions from everyone- yes, even you- which offer a unique and/or personal representation of the theme!

Interpretations of the theme can include:

myth as recycled storytelling

myth as a vessel of culture

myth as either stretched truth or tall tales

myth representing our relationship to the land and its people

myth as something that follows you/ haunts you

haunting as lost friendship or familial relationships

haunting as places that don't exist anymore

haunting as a memory or experience

First family event I took my kids to on the TAMUCC campus was an orchestra performance. There was a CCPD Officer there working the parking lot in a CCPD uniform.

"That's that bitch that thinks she's a police officer."

Just like with the Corpus Christi Independent School District, the university police chose to bury my complaints for the sake of protecting one of their own.

I never took my kids to another event on campus.
