First family event I took my kids to on the TAMUCC campus was an orchestra performance. There was a CCPD Officer there working the parking lot in a CCPD uniform.

"That's that bitch that thinks she's a police officer."

Just like with the Corpus Christi Independent School District, the university police chose to bury my complaints for the sake of protecting one of their own.

I never took my kids to another event on campus.

The Summer Series 5 2ft x 2ft paintings. Oil paints, sawdust, and chalkline on panel. 2 pieces (2 & 4) contain collaged screenprints. Each is one of a kind. $200 This series is one that had many forms and evolved so much in about 9 months. Not only the compositions, but also the meaning behind them. At first, then began as colour fields that did not belong together and I felt as though they didn’t belong to me. They felt lost, and so did I. I fell in love with a girl and as I changed, the paintings did. Life felt brighter and busier and happier, so the paintings became bright, colourful, and busy. After time, I realized maybe they were still wrong. Something was wrong and I couldn’t place my finger on it. Then I had my heart shattered into an infinite amount of pieces. She told me she couldn’t be with me and life turned dark. The next day, I went into the studio and stared at my paintings. That moment I realized they weren’t mine, they were hers and they were painful to look at. Like our relationship, I spent so much time, money, love, effort, trying to make them perfect and it still wasn’t enough. So I mixed dark colours, blacks, greys, a hint of colour, and sawdust. With those matte colours, I painted over the bright, glossy areas of colour I once loved. I left only the areas that were mine. As I painted over those thick areas with darkness, I felt myself losing not only the painting, but the feelings I once had for her. I was covering up the memories she left with me. I was making the paintings mine and she had no power over them anymore. They now belonged together and they belonged to me. I stared at them with love and finally the love and happiness I felt were for me. I added a chalkline as suggested by my committee. The line slopes up through each painting, but doesn’t quite reach the top corner because I know my journey to finding true contentment and happiness still isn’t completely over. Okay so... I am learning how to manage my time which is so much harder but easier than I thought it was going to be. I really need to step it up in math cause I am falling behind. I think i have decided that I am going to switch my major to nursing which seems so hard but I think I can do it. I am trying to really do good on all my assignments because in order to get into the nursing program I have to have a gpa of 3.5 or higher. So that means I have to work hard starting now. I really hope all this works out for me because I just want to do a good job. Also I’m not sure if I like my roommate. He’s a little inconsiderate tbh but then again I am not the easiest person to get along with.
