Rituaali sateenkaarelle Ritual for the Rainbow
Tumblr media

VIFF 2023 Review: Lynx Man (Ilveskuiskaaja)
Finnish hermit Hannu and his fascination with the endangered Eurasian lynx is the subject of the documentary Lynx Man. The documentary Lynx Man showcases a man who you’d first think to be an eccentric. Over time, you’ll see his work is less of a hobby and more of a mission. The film begins with an old Finnish man finding a dead Eurasian lynx near the street. He picks it up and takes it with…

Original article written by Jarkko Fräntilä for Rumba, published 19.11.2024.
Happening in Mikkeli!
Dinosaurock, which started in 1987, and Jurassic Rock, which began in 2007, are getting a successor. Dinosaurock comes to Visulahti, Mikkeli, from August 15 to 16, 2025.
The first 12 artists to be announced for the festival have now been revealed. The lineup includes names like Joker Out, Ismo Alanko, Sexmane, Stam1na, Etta, Sara Siipola, Irina, Eevil Stöö, and Mikkeli-based BRHG. Additional programmes will be revealed soon.
The band, which rose to international fame with their song Carpe Diem in last year's Eurovision Song Contest, visited Finland for the first time in 2023. Joker Out performed to sold-out audiences at Olympia, Tampere, at Logomo, Turku, and at two shows at the Tavastia Club, Helsinki. The tickets were sold out in no time. The band performed at Tavastia¹ in the early 2024.
¹Translator note: Concert location in the early 2024 was Kulttuuritalo, Helsinki

Dinosaurock of Visulahti makes a comeback next summer - organising the festival are Jurassic veteran Mikko Jokipii and Jonna Vuolle from Mikkeli
Original article writte by Anssi Mehtälä for Mikkelin Kaupunkilehti, published 19.11.2024.
A dream had for many years of many live music lovers in Mikkeli is about to come true next summer, on on the 15th and 16th of August to be precise.
Mikkeli will then once again host a rock festival, and in what many even consider to be the only right venue too, Visulahti Travel Center.
On Friday and Saturday, around a dozen domestic and foreign artists will perform in Visulahti, of which about half will be announced at this stage.
Among others, Stam1na, Ismo Alanko, Bloodred Hourglass, Sexmane, Irina, Saimaa, Mokoma, Etta and Eevil Stöö will be coming to Visulahti.
One international guest has been confirmed so far: Joker Out, the Slovenian indie rock band that made a name for themselves at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023.
The band has since visited Finland, performing for instance twice at the Tavastia club in Helsinki and at Ruisrock last summer.
“We are still looking for two or three international performers. The essential thing is that they'll strengthen the festival's repertoire” says Mikko Jokipii, one of the festival's creators.
The festival carries a name that can only be described as legendary, Dinosaurock.
The organiser is a joint-stock company of the same name, founded this autumn and backed by Jurassic Rock's long-time background figure Mikko Jokipii, who is also a film producer, Jonna Vuolle from Mikkeli, and Mikko Linnansaari, who has extensive experience in festival production.
“Our goal is to create a great event for the people of Mikkeli, a celebration of life and joy. It will be a medium-sized rock festival with lots of fun things to do.”
“As a Mikkeli resident, I feel really great to be able to create an event like this with great professionals” festival's producer Vuolle sums up.
“There has been a tremendous amount of positivity about this everywhere.
Let's take a look at the festival history of Mikkeli.
Dinosaurock was a festival organised by the live music association Melmu in Visulahti between 1987 and 1990. It revolutionised Finnish festival culture with its high quality, diverse lineup and relaxed atmosphere.
The Jurassic Rock festival, on the other hand, was held from 2007 to 2018, first in Visulahti and then in Kenkävero.
The new Dinosaurock can be seen as a continuation of the work of Jurassic Rock, which many still fondly remember. So why the name Dinosaurock?
“Dinosaurock is the original rock festival from Mikkeli. We want to honour that, it simply felt better to return to that name” explains Jokipii.
“Additionally, the name Jurassic Rock is now owned by Sanoma Group. It’s better that it stays there” Vuolle adds.
“In any case, our Dinosaurock aims to be liked by both Dinosaurock and Jurassic Rock visitors” Jokipii sums up.
The two-day event is being built in line with its predecessors, as a warm-hearted event.
“Visulahti has always been important to me. It was the number one aspect of Jurassic Rock and once the venue was moved to Kenkävero, the event wasn’t the same for me anymore” Jokipii says.
Visulahti will have two stages, a bigger and a smaller one.
“The planning of the festival area is already underway. Now we are scouting the best possible locations for the stages and other infrastructure” Jokipii says.
Services will cater to even the most demanding audience.
“The time has changed quite a lot since the early years of Jurassic Rock when it comes to festival services. At the same time, the customer expectations have risen regarding the quality of food and drink sales, accessibility, and VIP services. We are working hard on these aspects in collaboration with Visulahti” Jokipii reveals.
The organisers are pleased with the reception the festival project has received. The preparations were started well in advance.
“At the beginning of summer 2023, I was in contact with Mikko for the first time, when I got the idea of organising a music event in Mikkeli.”
“Due to Mikko having a busy schedule with films, the idea was left to simmer and the serious planning of Dinosaurock began this spring with the first meetings in Mikkeli” Vuolle explains.
“It feels like Mikkeli’s music scene now has a space for at least an event of this size” Jokipii describes.
“People everywhere have been incredibly positive about it. Ticket buyers, concert organisers, bands, everyone has been totally like, “Yeah!” And yes, the word ‘legendary’ has come up quite a few times” Vuolle laughs.
This positive reception has also convinced the organisers that the project is worth pursuing.
“If the feedback had been more along the lines of ‘meh, I’m not sure’, we probably wouldn’t even be talking about Dinosaurock right now” Vuolle says.

Next summer, the organisers of Dinosaurock expect to attract approximately 5000 people per day.
“It’s a modest goal. But we want to create an event that grows sustainably, if it grows, and that it can be organised practically, repeatedly, and every year” Vuolle notes.
“The program is curated so that every performer matters. And, of course so that the selection is diverse and interesting” she concludes
Dinosaurock’s ‘Aikainen Lisko’ (early lizard) tickets are now on sale today, November 19, 2024. A limited number of tickers are available here.

Tumblr media
[Extended version of this text.]
There’s Bonus Beats, a new compilation from Cold Blow Records that brings up quite an onslaught of memories for me.
Tumblr media
Namely, of those times when we had our own Club Telex at Tampere’s Yo-Talo (Student Union House), and also hanging out at the electro parties in Helsinki (remember Helsinki Turbo?) and Turku, with those lovely freaks of Rikos Records (the defunct cult label from Jyväskylä, also represented on Bonus Beats), Op:l Bastards, Imatran Voima (with the late lamented Perttu Häkkinen), Mr Velcro Fastener (who specifically informed me that “Mr” in their name is spelled without the full stop), Nu Science (the unofficial “house band” of Club Telex -- now there’s one act who would deserve their own retrospective compilation), Mono Junk, Jori Hulkkonen too, the ever-present Erkko (who curated this compilation), and so on.
Tumblr media
The first Club Telex, with Nu Science and Op:l Bastards performing, took place on the 27th of March, 1999, at Yo-Talo, Tampere’s traditional Student Union House. I remember our concept of having electronic live acts was somehow inspired by a club named Osasto in Helsinki. What we added there was that we also showed short films early in the evening, making it a sort of – for a lack of better expression – multimedia event.
“Electronic Avantgarde Excursions” was the tagline of Club Telex, even though in the end there was less experimental music as the average member of local audience – usually consisting of students, indie hipsters and perhaps an odd raver -- was craving for something to dance to rather than to listen some weirdness while scratching one's chin and nodding one's head knowingly.
"Perkeleenmoinen groove" (loosely translates as "hell of a groove") was another expression that was favoured in our plugs to specifically promote the event.
Tumblr media
There was also DJ music, usually by the resident disc jockeys Mikko “mini” Niemelä and yours truly but sometimes also guest DJs spinning records. Alongside mini and me, organising the club were Antti Vuorio (R.I.P.) and Olli Sotamaa, both familiar from the academic circles in Tampere, Vuorio also representing the Monroe film club where he then worked as a president. Monroe was an important collaborator for Club Telex, specifically providing us with the short films. As was also the Student Union of Tampere University, who would assist us in booking the nights at Yo-Talo.
The name “Telex” was inspired by the Belgian synthpop act of the same name, having also a nice retrofuturistic ring to it in an era when e-mails and the Internet were already replacing the old telex and telefax machines as a primary means of rapid global communication.
Some Finnish artists who performed at Club Telex:
Acidroot Soundsystem, Ektroverde, Ever Had, Helsinki Bass Machine, Imatran Voima, Jimi Tenor, Kemialliset Ystävät, Kukka, Anton Nikkilä, M.A. Numminen, Mono Junk, Mr Velcro Fastener, Nemesis, Nu Science, Op:l Bastards, O Samuli A, Ovuca, Pan sonic, Pink Twins, Planet Lander, Spektor vs. Nukleon, Tero, Unidentified Sound Objects, Ural 13 Diktators, Virtalähde, and Ylikulju.
And the international artists who performed at Club Telex:
Alexei Borisov (RU), Chicks on Speed (AU/DE/US), Fennesz (AT) (who played as a duo with the late Mika Vainio), Hecker (AT), I-f (DJ set/NL), Jeans Team (DE), Peaches (US), Nicole Willis (US), Pluxus (SE), and Skot (AT).
Some of these artists we had in collaboration with Avanto Festival and Helsinki Turbo, who arranged for them a gig also in Helsinki (for some of these people, there might have been some live action in Turku, too). There were also some events in collaboration with Kaukana Väijyy Ystäviä and Mindtrek festivals. Fennesz, Hecker and Skot were courtesy of Austria's Mego label.
As guest DJs for Club Telex nights we had, among all, such people as DCom, 6M4 (a.k.a. Gamma), Indigo, Kauko Lampi, Kuuro Kädetön Paisti, Marko Laine, Mike Not, Randy B., and Stimulus Progression.
As for the films shown during our nights, we had at least Futuro and Thank You for the Music by Mika Taanila, then the world premiere of Routemaster by Ilppo Pohjola. The director himself would have liked to show it with a 35 mm film projector, but dragging such heavy and expensive equipment to the club premises of Yo-Talo, which originally served as a bank in the early 20th century, would have been sheer impossibility, so we had to compromise, and another video projection it was to be. Also the legendary Eino Ruutsalo’s experimental 1960s shorts and episodes of such classic Finnish children’s animation series, from the 1960s and 70s, as Kössi Kenguru and Käytöskukka were often seen.
youtube
Jyrki, at that time perhaps the most watched pop music TV show in Finland, visited the Commodore 64 theme night of Club Telex in January 2001. Interviewed here are Mikko "mini" Niemelä (known for Polytron, later also as the promoter for Ruisrock festival), Tero (Mäyränen, who released 8-bit type of electro for Rikos Records) and Nu Science, with Mikko Ojanen (who later wrote his doctorate thesis on Erkki Kurenniemi) and Henri Tani talking at Yo-Talo's legendary backroom while the third member, Aku Raski (later known for Huoratron), smiles contentedly.
Tumblr media
From 1997, when I witnessed I-f’s (playing as Ferenc) set at Jyväskylä’s festival and instantly became converted, to perhaps 2005-06 when I quit DJing, it was electro (or to be more precise, its second or third wave, if we take into account its Stateside originators in the 80s) that ruled supreme, with some other related genres also squirming into our sets, such as IDM, EBM, synthpop/futu, Italodisco, Hi-NRG, even a bit of dub & hip hop, and yeah, some good old 4/4 techno, with also some occasional, erm, electroclash (once a hip genre cursed among all "real" electro fans) – yes, it can be confessed now since there isn't any personal “street cred” to hold on to anymore (if there ever was).
Alongside Club Telex, there were also some events dedicated purely to electro. In February 2001 we had as electronic live acts from Holland, representing the legendary Bunker Records, both Legowelt and Orgue Electronique.
Tumblr media
Was the electro journey worth taking? Sure, there were a lot of things that, in retrospect, should have been left undone, should have been left unsaid. Maybe there’s still someone out there who harbours resentment. Apologies accepted or not, call it a learning process. But despite any personal blunders there might have been, the music was good, and that’s the only real thing worth remembering.
Musical fashions change rapidly. For a couple of years in the late 1990s and the first years of the Noughties, electro was "hip", then something else came along. Since the millennium we've had EDM, trap, vaporwave, synthwave, and loads of other new genres born almost every year that it's totally impossible to keep up with them anymore. Also techno has been revived for the Berghain generation. Classic Italodisco of the 1980s seems to hold its cultish popularity among the club hipsters, year after year. As for electro, probably there will be another full-fledged revival one day, as it seems any type of electronic music will eventually create its own "trad" following, in the way of "classic rock", as can also be witnessed from the ever-rising popularity of analogue instruments.
But enough with the ranting, get this compilation if you want to get a little taste of what it was all about. It's full of lost gems, such as Imatran Voima's 'It's Time to Testify' from their first EP (Kostamus Records, 2000).

Top Advantages of Using Seamless Holographic Films in Sivakasi’s Fireworks Packaging
Tumblr media
This bustling hub of activity produces a significant portion of the country's fireworks, with packaging playing a crucial role in differentiating products in this competitive market. One of the most innovative and impactful trends in recent years is the use of seamless holographic films in fireworks packaging. These films offer a blend of visual appeal, security, and branding advantages that make them an ideal choice for manufacturers. In this blog, we’ll explore the top advantages of using Seamless holographic films in Sivakasi fireworks packaging.
1. Eye-Catching Visual Appeal
The fireworks industry thrives on excitement and spectacle, and this begins right from the packaging. Seamless holographic films in Sivakasi bring an unmatched visual appeal to fireworks packaging. These films create stunning, three-dimensional effects that captivate customers' attention, making products stand out on store shelves. The shimmering, dynamic visuals are particularly effective during the festive season, where vibrant packaging can significantly influence purchasing decisions.
2. Enhanced Brand Recognition
In a crowded marketplace like Sivakasi, where multiple fireworks brands compete for consumer attention, seamless holographic films offer a way to enhance brand recognition. These films can be customized with unique patterns, logos, and designs that reflect a brand's identity. By using distinctive holographic elements, manufacturers can create a memorable brand image that resonates with consumers, helping them distinguish their products from the competition.
3. Increased Perceived Value
The use of Seamless holographic films in Sivakasi in packaging instantly elevates the perceived value of the product. Customers often associate holographic effects with premium quality, and when applied to fireworks packaging, it creates a sense of luxury and exclusivity. This perception can justify a higher price point and encourage customers to choose a product over others that lack the same visual appeal.
4. Counterfeit Protection
Counterfeiting is a significant concern in the fireworks industry, as fake products can be dangerous and damage a brand's reputation. Seamless holographic films offer an effective solution to this problem by incorporating advanced security features that are difficult to replicate. These films can include micro-text, hidden images, and other tamper-evident elements that help ensure the authenticity of the product. For manufacturers in Sivakasi, this added layer of security is crucial in maintaining consumer trust and safeguarding their brand.
5. Versatility in Design
Seamless holographic films offer unparalleled versatility in design, allowing manufacturers to experiment with various colors, patterns, and effects. Whether it’s a subtle holographic sheen or a bold, eye-catching display, these films can be tailored to suit the specific needs of a brand. This flexibility enables fireworks manufacturers in Sivakasi to create packaging that not only protects the product but also tells a story and engages consumers on an emotional level.
6. Durability and Protection
Beyond aesthetics, Seamless holographic films in Sivakasi provide practical benefits in terms of durability and product protection. These films are resistant to moisture, scratches, and other environmental factors that could compromise the integrity of the packaging. By ensuring that the packaging remains intact and visually appealing, even during transportation and storage, manufacturers can deliver a product that meets consumer expectations in both form and function.
7. Sustainability
As environmental concerns become increasingly important, the use of sustainable materials in packaging is gaining traction. Seamless holographic films can be produced using eco-friendly materials and processes, aligning with global sustainability goals. For fireworks manufacturers in Sivakasi, this offers an opportunity to adopt greener practices while still benefiting from the visual and functional advantages of holographic packaging.
Conclusion
The use of Seamless holographic films in Sivakasi in Sivakasi’s fireworks packaging is more than just a trend—it’s a strategic move that offers numerous advantages. From enhancing visual appeal and brand recognition to providing counterfeit protection and sustainability, these films are a game-changer in the industry. As the fireworks market continues to evolve, manufacturers who embrace this innovative packaging solution will be better positioned to capture consumer attention and drive sales.
In a town where fireworks are synonymous with celebration and joy, seamless holographic films add an extra layer of magic, ensuring that the excitement starts the moment customers lay eyes on the packaging.

🚨 ISABELLA HADID ... YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT 🚨 i happen to think you look beautiful in the color orange. i hope you're not claustrophobic.. the cell where you'll be serving your sentence is not as big as your new york city apartment.
The luxurious and sunny city of Cannes welcomed Bella with open arms, she never felt more delighted to return to what she knew best and meeting attendees who were just as excited as she was. When Bella remained absent for the past two years of the film festival, she disliked her illness tampering on what should've been the best time of her years; her rapid incline as a supermodel and the takeover on billboards or magazine covers because she became sought out by everyone. However, she became reluctant to place her career on the backburner because she'd been too busy basking in the attention that she received on the daily. In the end, Bella fell victim to the horrible symptoms that arose by pushing herself a little bit too hard when it came to working. She'd constantly wake up, alone, drowning in tears, that she eventually had enough of feeling powerless. She tried her best to delay treatments but ultimately, she knew that she had to take a step back and prioritize her health to return back to the industry. As she returned to the noisy and beautiful New York City, she decided to start tackling her errands so she wouldn't have to continue procrastinating until she actually completed the task. She threw on her headphones, dressing up in casual wear before hitting the supermarket. She's glad that she can usually stroll around the city without being bombarded by paparazzi's, compared to los angeles. She completes her groceries, hauling them back to her apartment and seeing Beans run to greet her. She gives her tummy rubs before she starts cooking pasta for dinner. She starts to put her hair up in a claw clip to reduce the annoyance of her hair strands falling in her face. A second later, she receives an anonymous text message. Bella scrunches her face, her chest starting to feel heavy. "No fucking way.." She trails off, nervously biting on her lip as she doesn't know if this is a prank or having someone out there know her darkest secret of all, something she's never told Gigi or Anwar about. Was it her friend who was currently serving a jail sentence for her? She paid her generous amounts of money, though. maybe she's getting payback for obtaining a felony DUI charge and spending a 3+ year sentence in prison while Bella was living her best life not behind bars. Bella instantly saves the message, knowing that she immediately sends it to her attorney.. and her team, as she recognizes that they will have to do damage control to show her in good graces. 'Trying to scare me isn't going to work. I don't know who the fuck you are, you need to leave me alone.' She sends the message impulsively, before she tosses her phone to the side, wishing to forget about this daunting message that's beginning to make her paranoid.

What is Independent Cinema?
Tumblr media
In preparation for our long-awaited trip to the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, my fellow film enthusiasts, and I learned a lot about independent films. So, what exactly are independent films, you ask? Let me try to explain what I have learned so far.
When I think of indie films, I think of films that are different from the normal Hollywood style films, those produced by major studios speaking to mainstream ideas. Indie films are more realistic and less escapist and focus on niche subject matter addressing more relevant thematic topics that are important to the filmmaker and important for the world to see. Arbitrage (2012) is such an example, portraying the pitfalls that can come with wealth, power, and privilege. Indie films also use stylistic features. For example, Stranger Than Paradise (1984) was filmed only in black and white, and its scene transitions always cut to black. From an economic perspective, often, these films are low budget as they do not have access to the money the major studios have. An example of this is The Blair Witch Project (1999) which was filmed in eight days costing less than sixty thousand dollars and with only three characters. Also, early indie films did not have much star power but currently, you can find major actors in many of these films like Richard Gere in Arbitrage. This can be for many reasons. Often it is because they believe in the film and its message and so are willing to reduce their salaries to take part in a film that is important for the world to see.
All of this is indeed true. However, in Michael Z. Newman’s Indie: An American Film Culture, he claims that indie films cannot simply be defined in economic, stylistic, or thematic terms but rather, needs to be understood culturally. He states, “It [independent cinema] is most centrally a cluster of interpretive strategies and expectations that are shared among filmmakers; their support personnel, including distributors and publicists; the staffers of independent cinema institutions such as film festivals; critics and other writers; and audiences. All of these different people are audiences who employ these strategies, and it is only because filmmakers are also film spectators that they are able to craft their works to elicit particular responses from the audience. Indie constitutes a film culture: it includes texts, institutions, and audiences. Indie audiences share viewing strategies for thinking about and engaging with the texts—they have in common knowledge and competence—which are products of indie community networks” (Newman 11).
Newman developed three strategies for viewing indie films which relate to three important aspects of independent cinema: character-focused realism, formal play, and oppositionality (Newman 15). “These strategies often overlap with each other and often in mutually reinforcing ways” (Newman 29).
The three strategies are characters are emblems, form is a game, and when in doubt, read as anti-Hollywood (Newman 29).
Characters Are Emblems
This refers to characters representing a segment of the values of society.
An example of this can be found in the film Arbitrage directed by Nicholas Jarecki. Two of the main characters represent the current state of societal behavior today. The main character, Robert Miller, signifies much of what is wrong with today’s society. He uses people to get what he wants. To stay out of prison, he was willing to throw his own daughter under the bus for things that he was responsible for. He likes to be well thought of, however, he is lacking in character.
Contrasting him is Jimmy Grant who is held out as a beacon of hope compared to Miller. He believes in keeping his word. He is not willing to betray Robert to save himself even though the legal threat he faces is entirely Robert’s doing. He has trouble believing that the police would tamper with evidence to convince him to talk. Jimmy is the opposite of Robert and seems to be outnumbered in society. Later in the film when he decides to accept the two million dollars from Robert, he does it with the acknowledgement that his debt is repaid and that he will do something good with the money.
Form is a game
This is defined as how the viewer experiences the film. Here the viewer becomes a player in the movie helping to work through the puzzles.
Both The Blair Witch Project and Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989) created films where the viewer is more of a player trying to understand what is happening.
Through Myrick and Sanchez’ immersive style in The Blair Witch Project, the viewer uses their imagination to determine what is really happening throughout the film as the three protagonists pursue their investigation of the reality of the Blair Witch. It is up to the viewer to determine if it is all real or not. The missing map, the piled-up stones, and the stick bundles that the protagonists find all contribute to the thinking that there is something wrong going on. It is a mystery and the viewer, along with the protagonists, is trying to figure it out.
When in doubt, read as anti-Hollywood
This references movies that appear to lack the usual attributes of what we are accustomed to seeing in a movie and therefore, can be considered as anti-Hollywood. Some of these attributes in a typical Hollywood movie include: a happy ending, special effects, background music, more complex camera work, and editing to name a few.
An example of this can be found in Stranger Than Paradise directed by Jim Jarmusch. Here the cinematography is as basic as you can get. Per Winters, the film was “shot on location in purposely drab black-and-white” (Winter 123). The film is shot using one camera. It does not move around in scenes, nor is it repositioned. There is some tilting or zooming but for the most part they are static shots and there is no repositioning of the camera for different angles in the scene. There is no sophisticated editing. The ending of all scenes is cut to black.
The Blair Witch Project written and directed by University of Central Florida film school classmates, Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez is another good example. It is evidently lacking in camera setup and what would be considered normal scene shots. The resulting effect makes it seem that the film is unplanned, and it is being shot live as the actors experience it. This is true in the minimal direction the directors have given the actors. Contrast this to the detail and planning of all scenes shot in what we would consider a normal Hollywood movie that has storyboards detailing the proposed shots made up prior to the filming.
These three strategies help us differentiate between mainstream Hollywood movies and independent films.
All in all, I agree with Newman’s claim that indie films cannot simply be defined in economic, stylistic, or thematic terms but rather, need to be understood culturally. Identifying these films requires the use of his methods as it is not as simple as checking off a list of criteria that qualifies a film as indie. How films are accepted culturally compared to mainstream Hollywood movies identifies it as indie.
Hope this has provided you with some insight into what independent cinema is and how you can evaluate it.

Floris Vanhoof (°1982, lives and works in Antwerp, Belgium) ( Re:Voir ) Floris Vanhoof (1982) is interested in the hybrid form of music, photography and film. His first projections, experimental films on 16 millimeter, evolve towards pure visual experiences in which he questions our viewing patterns. Inspired by structural film and early electronic music he makes audiovisual installations, expanded cinema performances and music releases. Vanhoof builds his own instruments to discover the border between image, light and sound. As media-archeologist, he confronts the digital spoiled audience with flickering 16 mm films and 35mm slide installations, formats doomed to disappear. Purposefully he choses analog technology due to the greater transparency of the workflow and rich dynamic range. Regardless of nostalgia he experiments with what used to be hightech. Vanhoof searches for ways to make new images with old media. He makes his own translations from sound to image and vise-versa, by connecting one medium on the -not always compatible- other. He’s especially curious to what his work elicits in the viewer. How does our perception operates and which new perspectives appear? Installations were shown in LLS387 Antwerp, SMAK Ghent, Castlefield gallery Manchester, Vooruit Ghent, Netwerk Alost, Bozar Brussels, Filmfestival Ghent, Beursschouwburg Brussels, De Centrale Brussels, FOMU Antwerp. Performances took place in ISSUE Project Room New York, Aural Mexico City, UH Budapest, Hangar Bicocca Milan, Centre d’art contemporain Dijon, ZKM Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie Karlsruhe, Internationaal Filmfestival Rotterdam, Flagey Brussels, Café OTO London, Extracity Antwerp, Witte de With Rotterdam, Kaskcinema Ghent, International Mystery Los Angeles, The Wulf Los Angeles, Ancienne Belgique Brussels, Museum of Elsene, KMSKA Antwerp, Les Urbaines Lausanne, Xing Live Arts Week Bologna, Electrónica en Abril Madrid, Lal Lal Lal Tampere en Helsinki. In 2015 received the price of the public at the Young Belgian Art Prize ( Meakusma Festival ) https://florisvanhoof.com/ https://florisvanhoof.bandcamp.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_6WdDX5RN4

Free form, free no-fi, free-whatever gets you thru the night. ( it's alright it'salright.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaaRvXIGMg4&t=696s
SAMI BERGOLD / fr
To Live and Die E.P. Aids a.k.a.
