Extended credits for Museum at Tomorrow episode 5
Below the cut are all of the folks who I used (and asked to be credited) for recordings in Museum at Tomorrow episode 5- specifically, the "This is not for You" recordings.
(The list was too long for podcast episode descriptions)
These recordings were mixed into the soundscape of the show, heavily processed- so you may or may not be able to pick out your voice. Each unique recording is preserved as rhythem, timber, and shape within the episode.
Thank you for your work in creating the canvas of this piece.

Cage nodded his head thoughtfully, realizing that it would have added a whole extra layer of awkward, Tamara working with his brother on a regular basis, unsure of what to say to him, if they could be friendly. And Elliot was exactly the kind of person to be friendly with, that would have ended up making everything … tense, the last thing that he wanted. "Everyone's home," he said after a moment. "Kellan's retired from football, he's running the farm. Elliot's still working at the ER, he's dating one of the Hartman girls," he leaned back, looking up at the ceiling as he ran through his siblings. "Ash just got back, she's going through a tough time, Lucie's pregnant, because apparently none of us learned birth control…?" at that, he let out a little laugh. "Clem's around, still the baby, still babied." If nothing else, everyone had been drawn back together, and he'd always be grateful for that.
"No, no," he shook his head, reaching for his cup of coffee to take a sip, the liquid already cooling after being discarded on the coffee table. "She was born before Cordelia and I reconciled. But she's mine in every other way, you know?" Called him dad, let him brush her hair, ate the scrambled eggs he made for breakfast every morning. Chewing his bottom lip, he nodded when she said that it was fine, hoping she meant it, that it was, that she didn't still ache when he spoke; God, was this all uncharted territory for him. Cage Newman? Horrible at being friends with his exes. But in this case? He wanted to be. That was a first.
Relaxing a little bit as she said that she missed him, he nodded, resting back against the couch again, fingers idly raking through the stubble at the side of his jaw. "It was just sort of surreal," he admitted after a moment, letting out a soft laugh, "looking up and there you are, in my shop, in Merrock. I guess a part of me always figured you'd run off to greener pastures, find that perfect partner who could actually give you what you wanted, never look back or think about us here. The lobster, sure," he added, trying to keep the conversation light and airy, remembering fancy dinners at Sandcastles with her, sharing a bottle of wine and eating their way through the nicest dishes, enjoying just as much the rushed nights after work, with take-out fish and chips. "It's why I didn't really keep in touch or reach out -- I wanted you to go, have a clean break, find happiness."
Tumblr media
“I’ve seen Elliot around at work. I haven’t had the guts to talk to him yet. I wanted to talk to you first.” She admitted softly, speaking of his siblings. Their friendship had blossomed during her marriage to Cage, so she did hold a soft spot for him in her heart.
“Rosalyn.” Tamara repeated with a nod. “It’s a beautiful name… Did you choose it?” Curiosity sometimes got the better of her, and as much as she willed it not to in fear that it would evoke something in her, Tamara found herself speaking them anyway. “And it’s fine, really.” It had all been so long ago. It wasn’t right to dwell on things that weren’t directly connected to her. Offering a forced smile, it didn’t take long for it to broaden genuinely as soon as the snort escaped him.
“If he’s anything like his father, then I wouldn’t be surprised.” Tamara countered with a cocked brow, amusement softening her gaze further. She could see the twitching of his lips as he fought a smile, giving him a playful nudge on the shoulder all while letting out a giggle. “I really did miss you, Cage. I don’t want you to feel bad. It’s done, now… you’re happy with Cordelia, and that’s all I want. For you to be happy.”

Nov 27 | Neoliberalism and Administrative Law
Bassichis, Morgan and Dean Spade. 2014. “Queer politics and anti-blackness.” In Queer Necropolitics, edited by Haritaworn et al.Routledge: 191-210.
History is more about the future than it is about the past. The origins of democracy were founded on the exclusive ability of white male slave owners who were the only ones allowed to vote. The history of racism is something systemic because The Enlightenment gave birth to liberalism, to what we have now is neoliberalism. “Hartman calls ‘the continuities of slavery and freedom’ – the ways in which the legal, social, political, and emotional structures of slavery have been re-inscribed throughout an allegedly post-slavery society (and its global neoliberal dominion), highlighting how anti-blackness constitutes the condition of possibility for the United Sates itself.” (192).  Nation states (often colonial states) are being taken over by ‘liberation movements’ (armed forces) to protect colonizing power that consist of an army, a police force and a whole practice of protecting the interests of the corporations and laws.
Formal legal equality in neoliberal terms can be understood as a parallel universe. When you start suppressing things with bureaucracy, this imagined future is pushed into this ‘other world’, a distant future that is only conceptualized but impossible to operationalize. I argue that formal legal equality in neoliberal understanding is seen as impossible to operationalize because they consist of impossible subjects – deterring from hegemonic ideology and whiteness. When you suppress imagined futures with bureaucracy; you see an increase in stigma, social, class and race divide. Legal ‘fixes’ can be understood as one side of the coin. Masked as freedom, liberation and equality (200) whereas the other side is white supremacy and neoliberal ideology (to say the least). Human rights are blaming the state - though are we asking the perpetrators to result the problem? this is ludicrous to me, although I am not surprised.
Agathangelou, Anna M., M. Daniel Bassichis, and Tamara L. Spira. 2008. “Intimate Investments: Homonormativity, global lockdown, and the seductions of empire.” Radical History Review: 120-143.
Using Richard Florida’s ‘creative class’ ideology. You can draw parallels of how tourism, immigration, attracting the creative class is inextricably linked to colonialism under the guise of a progressive ideology. The branding for attractive cities is that they are welcoming, inclusive, and LGTBQ+ friendly. “Gentrification increasingly displaces queers of color through criminalities of racially anthologized spaces” (126). However, they are only welcoming, inclusive, and LGBTQ+ friendly to white queers or POC LGTBQ+ queers who adopt a constructed white narrative, in hope to pass within constructs of white aesthetics and identity
Those who disidentify and reject to be indoctrinated by white constructs and ways of being – they are deemed bodies that produce anxieties. Usually bodies that produce anxieties are marginalized folx such as qtbipoc, womxn, and disabled folx. Bodies that produce anxieties face more stigma by society and are highly surveilled, policed, and governed. Therefore they are put in prisons and silenced. Savages are marked as people who do not uphold what it means to be Western. If you turn a human into a victim, you have dehumanized them.
