"A cute girl confesses her crush to him, and he thinks she’s instead confessing to being a fan of the mainstream manga series he… not-secretly is the author of? The thing is, he’s a very tall, masculine, serious looking high school boy, who sometimes tells classmates in a very casual, flat tone that he is in fact the creator of a super cheesy, girly, romance-focused manga, so they always take it as a joke. So like, he thinks it’s natural for word to have gotten out that he’s the author, but there is in fact zero word, because again, nobody believes him. And that’s just a summary of the plot of maybe the first five minutes of the anime/first ten pages of the manga, so as you can see, the autism is instantly blatantly obvious.

In general, he has the aforementioned inexpressive face and voice, doesn’t understand social rules, especially around gender (feels no shame around: trying on women’s clothes in public, professing his love for romantic manga, revealing that he’s an excellent cook, etc), takes things too literally/seriously (like the time he and some guy friends took turns pretending to be a girl so the other boys could practicing talking to a girl in a group blind date setting, but then he got too invested in his girlsona and started acting out whole storylines that did jackshit to help his friends practice casual conversation), and has an extreme passion for reading, writing, and drawing shoujo manga."
