Do you have any headcanons of the hosts, both SFW and NSFW?

(2/2) ...Actually, when I mean “NSFW” Headcanons for the hosts, don’t include Honey, obviously. Have a couple of random thoughts on all the hosts. Not too much for the SFW, as I recently answered something similar, but a couple of NSFW headcanons for each of them below the cut.

SFW Headcanons

Tamaki

Finally realised he was pansexual in his final year of university, which really should've come sooner. Had a whole, elaborate coming out party, during which Kyoya just yelled inarticulately and stormed off. That's when Tamaki found out his best friend had been in love with him since middle school. (Depending on what you ship - I ship everything - that would be when Tamaki and Kyoya got together)

Haruhi

Finally gets fancy tuna in university. It wasn't the hosts who bought it for her, however, but a classmate who was incredibly thankful for the tutoring Haruhi gave them. Yes, the hosts were all incredibly upset (showing it in their own ways), and it was just a massive headache for Haruhi in general. They did admit it was stupid of them after about a week, though, and apologised.

Kyoya

Started med school in an effort to catch up to his brothers. The subsequent mental breakdown was not worth it, and he dropped out. Took the rest of the year as a gap year and then took the usual business and finance degrees when he got back from his travels. (The new septum piercing was discarded not long after he got back, however, after too many comments from the twins and Akito.

Kaoru

His fashion design degree nearly killed him. He was living on ramen (because it was convenient) and energy drinks for so long, just working on his projects day and night. The other ex-hosts had to host an intervention and make him sleep. He woke up after being dead to the world for nearly 20 hours, and everyone (except med student Kyoya) thinking he'd slipped into a coma.

Hikaru

Conversely to his brother, Hikaru spent a lot of time in university going to parties, especially those held by the chem majors (iykyk). Had a lot of fun, made a lot of friends, and dragged Kaoru with him by his hair more often than he probably should've. It was good stress relief for the both of them, though.

Mori

Very popular at university, in both senses of the word. While Mori's not the type for too many trysts and one night stands, it didn't mean he didn't have a lot of offers. Had a couple of girlfriends, and a few boyfriends, during this time.

Hani

Buckled down during university, in terms of studying, but still retained quite a few of his childish traits. Usa-chan did frequently accompany him to lectures, and was a bit of a hit with the rest of the class. In fact, Usa-chan became the class mascot not too long into first term.

NSFW Headcanons

Tamaki

Versatile. Can go from a good boy whining but taking it like a champ one minute, only to switch up and use that charisma and princely desire to pull one over on his partner (consensually, ofc) the next moment.

It may have been a joke in the beach episode, but this boy is indeed into bondage! Restraints, blindfolds, harnesses. He doesn't mind if he's tying up his partner, or if he's the one being tied up!

Okay, I put full CC on pet business lot this time since I found it less interesting with only Maxis versions. I added a few animals that can be categorized as pets, so there will be a few glitches that can happen along the way, therefore I suggest you download recommended pet cc and mods for fixing some issues you might encounter.

The floor plan is similar to Pepe Pets, however, this is its remake version. I always thought that Pepe Pets has potential it just needs to be expanded and upgraded. The lot size is 3x3, enough for every pet service we usually have daily. I added the cow plant just for fun, but if you want to feed him/her you need to make your sims to be able to teleport (since it's dangerous to have townies get eaten hehe) otherwise your cowplant might die of hunger. Since my cowplant was already named I suggest install this mod by Episims, and this mod by Pforestsism

Unfortunately, this lot has already been used for quite some time, because I need to see whether this lot is safe to play for you guys, and turns out it does give a lot of problems; mostly burned trees (use it at your own risk :3). To prevent glitches I suggest you download these fixes:

FFS Lot Debugger: for force errors

Fire mod V2: preventing sims from going nuts

Rug Fix

Visitor controller: To prevent bad witches

Stuck Object Remover: So you don't have to constantly use 'move objects' cheat, make sure you don't nuke your selectable sims on the lot otherwise they won't be able to comeback, sims inside or on the objects are safe to nuke

Book of Talent: for those who are too lazy to go on vacation hehe

If your customer happens to leave before the bar is full, that's because the tree is invisibly burned, to fix it you either nuke the tree with stuck object remover or just manually remove it, and the fire will spawn on its own. All you need to do is to get Fire Safety Skills to extinguish it or get a fire alarm outside.

I think another problem of the whole "FF is a prequel, its all conected" thing is that now instead of looking at reused design tropes or maybe even unintentional simmilarly looking charachters, one has to allways look at them through the lense of how they are connected and what it says about his previous work/hidden motives ect. Like Gopher looking like Yu - does it mean anything, like fake Eibon reflecting Vulcan who Yu liked, so Gopher likes Noah (but in a yucky pseuod incest way now...)

As I’ve said before, it’s bothersome looking at Tamaki, then thinking how that alters what came before with Maka and Tsugumi. 

And before revealing just how Rekka ties into Black Star, I just thought it was weird that the two had star motifs--which, as I’ve also said before, seemed like Easter eggs or creator’s shout-outs to his previous work, not that this was foreshadowing (again, Ohkubo kept mixing together Easter eggs and actual foreshadowing in such a messy fashion that neither worked for each other). 

I tend not to worry about Yu reflecting back on Gopher, in part because I haven’t seen the same visual similarity between Vulcan and Noah to get bothered by how that leads to unfortunate implications around Gopher’s attraction to Greed!Noah (and the already unfortunate implications inherent to Gopher’s attraction to Wrath!Noah and the numerous unconscious Noahs). 

Granted, there are other characters that I see visual similarities and think, “Huh, that’s curious.” Not anything unfortunate (“I can’t look at Tamaki getting mortified and how that reflects back onto Maka and Tsugumi”), just, “Huh, weird,” such as very passing visual similarities between Patty and Iris, and Liz and Lisa, or how my friend elliotthezubat saw similarities between Hiro and Arthur.

On the meta stuff in FF, are you against it on principle or just because of the execution, like the whole weird Tamaki twitter rant, ruining Soul Eater by proxy, etc?

I'm against the meta stuff in Fire Force just because of the execution, not on principle.

I'd be hypocritical to criticize meta stuff on principle when I've enjoyed, and likely written online repeatedly, about specific moments of meta stuff that work for me, whether it's a fourth-wall break, an Easter egg, a mythology gag, a reference, whatever.

I'm the guy who enjoys Chowder despite how much whining people at the end had about the fourth wall jokes. I'm the one guffawing when Catwoman in that Adam West animated Batman film offers to give herself up if Batman reenacts the ending of the third Nolan film and Robin says, "Holy unsatisfying ending"--because the entire Adam West series was a campy wink at the camera that reinforced the comedy and the superhero fantastic. I grew up on Animaniacs and Looney Tunes and Tex Avery cartoons talking right to the audience, acknowledging they are cartoons within their own world, breaking the suspension of disbelief, even when I'm watching the old Looney Tunes shorts on TV instead of at the movies but understanding the gags when Yosemite Sam is talking at someone in the movie theater audience: I can appreciate this stuff, I enjoy these meta gags, I laugh at them. But notice that all of those examples are comedies. Ohkubo instead wanted this stuff taken seriously--and it falls flat on its face.

This isn't even like forcing references for the sake of it, however awkwardly done to the point that they take the audience out of the story: see every remake, every bit of recent Sonic the Hedgehog content, every mythology gag in Doctor Who that feels tacked on. (And even Who did better with the fourth-wall break because it is, intentionally or not, eerie and discomforting in order to make the mystery more engaging.) At least Buckaroo Banzai was, again, a comedy and an overall pastiche of the serial narrative that you jumped into it right in the middle so of course you don't know what the watermelon is for: that is the joke, the meta stuff is integral to the gag.

But there is next to nothing integral to the two major meta moments in Fire Force: Tamaki's role in this world, and the book Maka's parents read to her at the end.

The former is the one time we have someone as a symbol of any larger aspects to this world that, without them in it, the world collapses. (The story tries to make Shinra, Sho, and their mother take on those roles--but they are hardly embodiments of any detail, they aren't even cliche enough to be archetypal.) If it turned out that just about every character was purposefully so archetypal as to be needed for this world, maybe the meta stuff would fit better: Akitaru is the father to his soldiers, Takehisa is the blunt honest guy, Maki is the hot-blooded passionate one, etc. But, because Ohkubo managed to make these characters _not_ so one-note as that, he fails at even that setup. It's Gomez Addams trying to be a failure and succeeding despite himself, or The Producers: he failed at failing--he could have made this all so one-note then, surprise, it was like that on purpose, and he wasn't even that conceited, hipster, pseudo-intellectual enough to do that! Gah!

And the latter is just confusing: why is there now this book that has the exact same name as the manga? Why would a story about the origin of the world be called Enen No Shotobai--was the book at all about that amazing brigade, or was it about the origins of the world?

As I've said, the Tamaki rant was frustrating: Ohkubo was getting offended over his story being criticized, he broke the fourth wall to complain that readers didn't understand him (similar to the presence of the doppels of Joker and Benimaru allowed the original characters to complain how those characters are misunderstood) all to defend something I find reprehensible, where he tries to excuse his perving on an underage girl by claiming it's all about declining birth rates and idealized sexuality (which, again, he is saying is in the form of an underage girl: fuck this guy).

And, yeah, it ruins Soul Eater by proxy when it's part of the shared universe and shared timeline, rather than just a work by the same author or even, as someone else has suggested, if it was an alternate world or part of a multiverse.

And ending the story with Maka being read the entire manga as if it was a children's book account as to the origins of this world is one last middle finger to the readers. Anything more I can say on this would probably be the same nitpicking I've done: why is this the last moment for the story, why is Ohkubo reminding us of his better work (Soul Eater, with Maka here) within his inferior work (Fire Force), is this children's book selection something that we should shrug as a Death Child thing (of course Maka's parents would read this violent account to their child)?

Funny how next to none of this is ever brought up in Soul Eater. I know that a work, especially one trying to be quote-unquote "realistic," would not have characters suddenly saying, "Hey, remember how the Big Bang happened almost 14 billion years ago, and how dinosaurs died off 65 million years ago," because no one rehashes and info-dumps their world history and lore building like that. But seriously, no one ever brings up, "Yeah, this world used to be entirely on fire--that's why the soil is so full of carbon or whatever happens when you burn everything"?

So, yeah, that's another reason it bothers me: it's not just that it's trying to be meta, it's that even the meta stuff screws with pre-established details that make the worldbuilding less enjoyable and gets in the way of plot, setting, and character progression.

I have achieved ultimate bingo.

I'm not sure what my favorite movie of the bunch was, but "Nope," "Across the Spider-Verse," "the Black Phone," "Totally Killer," "Words on Bathroom Walls," and "the Batman" are all pretty up there.

I tried to watch a movie every Saturday of this year. I didn't hit them all, but I did manage to watch a whopping 33 movies, exposing myself to stories and genres that I normally wouldn't, and I'm very happy to have gotten that far.

I probably won't watch anywhere near that amount of movies in 2024 (I have other plans for the year that are going to be fairly time consuming), but this was a fun experience.

Every day he always found himself stealing glances of you in class, occasionally the two would lock eyes. You'd smile that brilliantly bright smile of yours and make Amajikis stomach do back flips and his heart flutter, he would always turn away before any further contact could be made. On one particular day Nejire had asked you to sit with the big three at lunch, to which you happily agreed to. Amajiki almost had a melt down when Nejire had told him, to which Mirio patted him on the back giving him a "you got this dude!" a grin, and a thumbs up. It made the poor boy feel...slightly better but as you approached them in the cafeteria Amajiki tried his best to keep himself together. Why did you have to be so attractive? how dare you, it was unfair really. He just couldn't take his eyes off you, confidence radiated from your form. Mirio once told him that if he waited to long that someone would steal you, Nejire agreed. You were after all one of the most popular students at UA, not only was your quirk amazing and your fighting skills godly but your looks where beyond words, Amajiki was painfully aware of these facts. "Hi guys!" You grinned and Tamaki almost fainted. "Glad you could join us!" Nejire smiled as she took you by the wrist and dragged you to their lunch table, you couldn't help but giggle at her excitement as she asked you a bunch of questions about you and your quirk. Most of the quirk questions she asked she most likely already knew the answer to, you four being in the same class and all. Nejire took a seat next to Mirio, across from you and Amajiki. "Soooo Y/N...Do you have a crush on anybody?" Nejire asked suddenly, making you choke on the tea you where sipping on. "I-I uh-" You tried to avoid looking at Nejires grinning features, she already knew the answer to her question. Of course you did and it was none other then the boy you where sitting next to, you didn't answer her question, simply coughed and continued to sip on your drink. She sucked her teeth, unsatisfied with your answer, if you could even call it that. Mirios eyes wandered to Nejire then to Tamaki who was silently eating his food, his face was beet red at how close you and him were, your shoulders where brushing against each other. Then Mirio looked at you, whos cheeks were dusted with a light shade of pink as you tried to brush off the last conversation topic. He rolled his eyes and had to fight the urge to just blurt out that the two of you should date each other already. Soon the lunch bell rang and it was time to head back to class, Amajiki let out a soft sigh as the four of you started heading to your shared classroom, you and Nejire chatting about a show that she had starting watching recently. Mirio fell behind them a bit so he could walk beside Tamaki. "So, When are you gonna tell them?" He asked, knowing full well that it would take some sort of miracle to get Amajiki to confess to his crush of two years. The shorter gave a small shrug before slipping his hands into his pockets. "I-I don't know...Really i don't think i ever will. " He again let out a gentle, almost sad sigh "I dont think i'm good enough for them, they're so amazing." "Aw come on Tamaki! you're part of the big three!" Mirio gently nudged him with his elbow, to which Tamakjis eyes wandered to the opposite direction. "They think you're awesome" "Well yeah but they're right behind us on the list of top students" Amajiki informed him. It was true, you were almost part of the big three yourself but you ended up failing a test by 6 points and getting knocked to fourth. You didn't mind, you where pretty comfortable in your spot. "What're you guys talkin' about?" Nejire asked, walking backwards and looking at them with the same sweet smile she always had gracing her soft features. "How awesome Y/N is" Mirio patted Amajikis back, making him let out a soft hum. You tilted your head "Oh yeah? im honored." You smiled "You guys are way cooler then i am." Nejire giggled, Tamaki stiffened at her sudden question "So which of our quirks is your favorite, Y/N?" You hummed, tapping your chin for a moment. Tamaki expected you to say Nejires quirk seeing as you two have been friends since you both stepped into class 1-A in your 1st year at UA. "I think Amajikis quirk is the coolest" You smiled to him, Tamaki noticed and then you smiled it was as if your eyes where smiling to, his heart practically exploded, barely able to get out a 'thank you'. You giggled at his shyness, finding it adorable as always. Nejire couldn't help but giggle at the two of you, Mirios grin widened as he two watched you to. "Nice choice Y/N" Nejire smiled as she took you by the hand as you four made it to class, seeing as you and her sat next to each other she lead you to your seats, ready to take on the rest of your day you sat down as class began. As the end of the day rolled around you stretched as you made your way to the front of your dorm building. You had some homework to do as well as some studying, then you thought you could train a bit then- You had bumped into someone, not to hard it just startled you a bit as you where to deep in thought, planning out the rest of your day. You quickly bowed "I'm so sorry I wasn't paying atten-...Amajiki? what're you doing here?" You had bumped into Tamaki, not only that but he was standing in front of your dorm room. "O-Oh I uh- I-I" He stumbled harshly through his words, on top of that he was mumbling. You noticed a small piece of folded paper in his slightly trembling hands and smiled, just as you noticed it he stopped mumbling and actually spoke up a bit. "I-I just- I wanted t-to give this to you" he held out the slip of paper, avoiding eye contact with you at all costs. You gently took the paper from him but before you could get another word out he scurried down the hall and disappeared around the corner. You watched him leave, letting out a small chuckle before unlocking your door and walking in, closing the door behind you with your foot and gently setting your school bag down. The day before, after class Mirio had suggested to Amajiki that he should write you a letter if he couldn't just out right tell you. "Like...A love letter?" Tamaki tilted his head. He didn't know how he felt about that, his writing skills weren't bad he just dreaded having to wait for your response, not only that but even considering rejection as a factor made him wanna puke. "Don't worry, i'm like 90% sure that even if they do reject you they'll be nice about it" Mirio gave a thumbs up as he finally convinced Amajiki to start on the letter that could make or break him. It was a huge deal, you were his first ever crush and he never thought in a million years he would be confessing to you. "They're nice about everything" Tamaki mumbled as he continued to write his letter. Miro chuckled and nodded in agreement. "Exactly, you have nothing to worry about." Tamaki wondered why he was so confident about this, maybe Mirio knew you would turn him down? Thinking about that being a possibility created a pit of nervousness in his stomach. Really it was the opposite, Mirio knew you would say yes, he was just excited to finally see his favorite ship finally become a couple. Back to the present you took a seat on your bed before unfolding the note and beginning to read it. Your eyes where wide as saucers when you finished reading it, the final sentence replaying in your mind at least a hundred times "Will you go out with me?"Butterflies invaded your stomach and your cheeks flushed, you decided to give him your answer tomorrow, wanting it to sink in that the boy you've had a crush on since the dawn of time liked you back. Amajiki was dying in his room as he awaited your answer, Mirio who had come over to study with him was laughing his ass off at the boys struggle. The next day you where standing in front of Amajikis dorm room with both Mirio and Nejire at your side, they had their phones out ready to take pictures of this momentous occasion. You took a deep breath before gently knocking on his door three times, it took him a moment or two before he opened the door, he immanently stiffened as he locked eyes with you. Bracing himself for rejection he waited for it but all he heard were the words he had been wanting to hear for the past two years "I like you to Amajiki" Nejire squealed and clapped as Mirio laughed "finally oh my god" Mirio said crossing his arms. Amajiki stood frozen, having to register what just happened, after coming to the conclusion that the love of his life did indeed just agree to date him he felt a sudden rush of adrenaline and pulled you towards him by the wrist, placing his slightly quivering lips against your silky smooth ones. Nejire practically screamed as she took about a thousand pictures, Mirio looked away jokingly acting disgusted but he couldn't hold back his happiness for his friends, they found love and he was beyond proud of Amajiki for going through with his plan.   Your eyes where wide and your face was crimson by the time Amajiki pulled away. He started to apologize profusely as he realized what he just did, which resulted in you having to tell him it was fine over and over again. The two where walking together hand in hand as you made your way to class, as shy as he may be he still wanted everyone in the world and their mother know that you belonged to him now and nothing walking this Earth was going to change that.

I think ironically the best execution of the "doppelganger" idea was not in FF but the first Clown in the factory in SE - it was creepy, original, stylish and in a way meaningful. Sadly the later clowns just got more and more lame and felt just as generic bad guy filler villians (Think Justins clown and Medusas little Purple one were still kinda cool, guess video-gamey anime powerups are a guilty pleasure😂🤷🏿‍♂️)

…Oh, wow, that is a good point: we have Clown Maka right here as the similar-but-different-enough version of our main Maka. 

(I’m not going to use that L-word, given the disablism inherent to it.) 

Let me talk about the later clowns first, because what I have to say about Clown Maka and the Fire Force doppelgangers is going to take a lot of time. 

Ohkubo has shown before he can make even minor villains have eye-catching designs, compelling personalities, and a memorable presence and impact on the story. You point out that you like video game power-ups, similar to Justin’s clown and Medusa’s little one. Think about even the minor antagonists you fight in boss battles in the Soul Eater video game Monotone Princess, where Kill Bell and others still have eye-catching designs, compelling (if simple) personalities (“simple” as these are mini-bosses, not the main adversaries), and a memorable presence (because they need to be a memorable fight) and an impact on the story (because it builds up to facing off against Ponera and Grimoire later). 

The clowns, then, should have that kind of approach: eye-catching designs, compelling personalities, and a memorable presence and impact. But those clowns on the Moon in the final arc just didn’t. I work with my friend on revising these original tales for fanfics--and just now I had to check over notes and the Soul Eater Wiki to remember who Kaguya, White Rabbit, and Moonlight are. The three had memorable designs, but Kaguya was about the only one with any personality (and not a memorable or engaging one at that), and their presence was just to be antagonists. At least when My Hero Academia tried this boss battle approach in the Shie Hassaikai arc, you had characters who either helped define our protagonists (Rappa helped define Eijiro), helped define each other (Tengai defines Rappa, Chronostasis defines Overhaul), or defined antagonists (Mimic’s short temper defines how smart Toga and Twice are despite their initial goofiness). But what was gained in Soul Eater? What did we learn from seeing Kid, Stein, Marie, and others against the Moon Clowns? None of them seemed to gain new character dimensions. 

As for Clown Maka: I don’t think that arc quite did a good enough job at establishing why the Clown Maka is important. Granted, moments of making Maka feel self-doubt, while welcome, can feel tacked on or not as impactful as they could be: see how abrupt it is to have Maka jealous over Soul’s stalker and her own feelings that she is not worthy to wield his Death Scythe form. But the Clown Maka story was enough to introduce her own self-doubts, and it had enough “magic” to have it make sense (“the Madness just makes you feel bad and not in a sound mind,” that’s enough justification). So, yeah, it’s meaningful. 

The more I re-read the doppelgangers in Fire Force, they seem to exist as Ohkubo’s soapboxes against the audience. “Oh, people hate on how I write Tamaki--so I’ll have Doppel!Assault call her a whore and make it seem like any readers criticizing my writing are just prudes and SWERFs and the real bad guys.” “Oh, people think I under-wrote Benimaru and Kurono and didn’t plumb their depths of character complexity, or vastly misinterpret who those characters are--I’ll just make the Doppels of Benimaru and Kurono into exaggerated walking caricatures.” 

It ends up robbing any meaning from what we should get from other doppelgangers. As I say in another post, we needed Mari to be something more as a character so that the Evangelist’s flaws are emphasized. We abruptly wrap up Iris being a doppelganger to give Amaterasu a far-too-late redemption moment before we even really made Amaterasu much of a character when she was pretty much just a plot device or just an opposing force of nature. The doppelgangers of Burns and Konro are just here to show how much more powerful Burns and Konro are. Hibana’s doppelganger…existed, I don’t know why (or was that just Jonah in disguise?). Akitaru’s doppelganger disappears right after killing Akitaru, just here for a jump scare--which would be fine if we had just a hint of characterization to again show how that doppel is not who Akitaru is. 

The problem with the doppelgangers, as I talk about in the other post regarding Mari being the doppelganger of the Evangelist, is that the story could have taken a simpler approach--just make the doppelganger the opposite of the character, to characterize the character by negatives, by showing us all that they are not--and instead took a more complex approach that, while ambitious, did not work. The more ambitious, complex approach was that the doppelgangers are who the world imagines that person to be…but that didn’t work, for two reasons. 

The first reason is lore: we were told someone gains pyrokinetic abilities without becoming an Infernal if that person and their doppelganger merge and if that person and their doppelganger are exactly the same--that who they really are, and how the world sees them, are perfectly the same. By that argument, Shinra, Arthur, Tamaki, Maki, Takehisa, Hibana, Benimaru, Kurono, and so on are exactly the same as who they are and how the world sees them…but that’s not true. No person is exactly how the world sees them. That’s not even getting into how you are not the same person in all contexts and settings, around all the same people, around your family as you would be around your friends. Shinra is seen as a killer; he is not. Tamaki is seen as a flirt, a whore, someone trying to get into people’s pants and expose herself in public: she is none of those things, she’s not even interested in dating, the entire point of her final arc is her refusal to embrace that “symbol of life / symbol of fanservice” shit. And on and on. I know this gets swept under the rug later as “well, the physics of the world are changing so much, so that rule about doppelgangers and gaining pyrokinetic abilities no longer matters, hence how Benimaru can still have his doppel show up even though he should already be merged with his own in order to have pyrokinetic abilities,” but that rule change doesn’t negate what I just pointed out about Shinra and Tamaki and so on. 

The second reason is thematics: what is learned about this? At least if a doppel is your opposite, you are characterizing your character by contrasting them with the person they are not. But when you take the approach Fire Force does, where a doppel is how the world sees you, what is gained? This was a missed opportunity. Maki could have faced a doppel to really emphasize that, while people see her a cute daddy’s girl and someone in love with love and someone they would like to date, they are ignoring that, even if she is daddy’s girl and in love with love, she is also a passionate fighter who will protect her friends and is willing to beat the shit out of someone. Hibana put up a front that she hates the past, hates the world, hates her sister, just wants to make money and advance science--but that is not all she is, and we don’t see her fight a doppel who is a caricature of all of those traits, or, better yet, confront a doppel who actually is more like her real self, who is someone who is traumatized, who wants to enjoy the beauty of nature and the world, who loves Iris, who would love to get back to her faith and her family but instead fills that void with work and inhuman experiments. It feels like a failure of the theme.
