How has the Taliban Controlled Women's Education in Afghanistan?
According to a recent BBC report, the Taliban has instructed the schools not to allow girls over the age of 10 to attend schools in Afghanistan. This development has come after a total ban on Afghanistan womenâs receiving secondary education and attending colleges late last year. Since the withdrawal of US troops and the subsequent Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021, women have beenâŠ

I understand that thare are horrible things happening. I also understand that personnally, the best thing i could do is share.
But tumblr is the one space i use that is only for my interests. I barely post anything myself. My pages are chaotic enough in what i will see today that i don't want to accidentally alter it and only see things that upset me.
And i dont mind the posts, for the most part. Because i recognise that even if i dont have the emotionnal energy to deal with them, there are people that can help and these posts are the best way to put both sides into contact that i know of for tumblr.
What i DO mind?
Is when the first thing i see is a picture of a bloody, anorexic, human being first thing in the post. Not hidden by anything. No warnings. I can't handle seeing this. I know my hurt at seeing it is is nothing compared to what these people go trough. But if i dont have the means to help anyone else, then i might as well protect MY mental and emotionnal health, because it's thin enough as it is.
There is NOTHING wrong with that.
And that's my experience with it. If only seeing ONE image for a couple seconds before u scroll can severly fuck ME up like that, i cant even imagine what people with actual TRAUMA feels.
So yeah. Take care of yourself. Dont be a dick to people who cant handle it. And if you can handle it but dont wnat to ruin your tumblr space, you can always make a new account dedicated to it. I considered doing it but between the pictures, the lack of knowing how to vet posts, and my adhd making having an actual blog posting consistantly unreliable at best, i cant be the one doing it.
With all the events going on recently I think itâs time to post this image againbc iâm tired of this shitÂ
#I well and truly hope that the victims of any and all conflicts going on at the momment get to have a better future#But i remember when afghanistan got taken over by the taliban#And how i kept going after the news. Keeping informed. How much it hurt me inside.#Until i hit burnout and stopped watching any news at all.#And when the war in Ukraine started after that#I realised that i couldnt do that to myself again. I kept enough on an eye on it to be informed#But nothing more.#And i feel like i found a middle ground that works for me; and i do wish sometimes that i could do more#But realisticly i know it's not the case.#And while i dont know if those posts woth the pictures have trigger warnings in the tags#I am not going to ban some tags that i cannot handle when its Irl people when i move it in fanart and it's 95% of what i see#I just feel like it's not too much to ask to at least put those kind of pictures under a âread moreâ#I know it's for shock value and to make you look more at the post but that's such an awfull thing to do to anyone

Personal travel bans
Russia - because I can't keep my mouth shut about Putin. And that wouldn't sit well with me over there.
Afghanistan - because I couldn't overlook the discrimination against women. And I didn't want to.
Saudi Arabia - because I despise their system. Even if it is against Iran.
Iran - because I despise their system. Even if it is against Saudi Arabia.
North Corea - because I couldn't get in. And even if I could, I couldn't get out afterwards.
Nigeria - because it's way too dangerous. But I wouldn't actually want to travel to the country.
Syria - ditto. Although I would really like to travel to the country.
China - because my attitude towards those in power would not earn me enough "social points" to be able to move around freely.
United Arab Emirates - because it's all fake.
Antarctica - because I like it warm and cozy.

if what the Taliban is doing to women was happening instead to a minority racial group, especially if the oppressors were white, iâm just saying, there would be A LOT more outrage.
there would be encampments, huge protests, everything you see with palestine but probably a hundred times more extreme. Weâd be listing the stage of genocide this is, and calling it a second holocaust.
I mean IMAGINE a certain racial groupâs voice is made illegal in public, and they have to wear a HUGE, ridiculous, uncomfortable garment like that. They arenât allowed to leave the house without an (oppressor) escort. Banned from education or employment. No protections from violence and rape, basically less than an animal in law. IMAGINE IF ALL THAT HAPPENED TO A MINORITY RACIAL GROUP. this IS whatâs happening to women.
But itâs just women and itâs just their culture so thereâs nothing we can really do, who cares. Maybe weâll do a march or two, and maybe weâll post about it on twitter, make a few articles. But itâs just women.

- Talk about an Olympic comeback!
1. U.S. proposes ban on airline fees for seating parents next to kids
Parents should't have to pay a fee to sit next to their children when flying, according to the White House, which is moving to ban airlines from charging families extra to be seated together.
Under a rule proposed Thursday by the Department of Transportation, airlines would be required to seat parents and kids 13 and younger together free of charge when adjacent seating is available at booking.
2. A spinal injury killed Adriana Ruano's dream as a gymnast. She just won Guatemala's first Olympic gold medal as a shooter.
Ruano was training for the 2011 world championships in gymnastics, a qualifier for the London Olympics the following year, when she felt pain in her back. An MRI showed the then-16-year-old had six damaged vertebrae â a career-ending injury.
But on Wednesday, she came back as a shooter and won Guatemala's first Olympic gold medal.
3. Woman swept out to sea rescued after surviving 37 hours in 6.5' waves, drifted over 50 miles.
A Chinese woman who was swept out to sea while swimming at a Japanese beach was rescued 37 hours later after drifting in an inflatable swim ring more than 80 kilometers (50 miles) in the Pacific Ocean, officials said Thursday.
4. Afghan Sisters Escape The Taliban To Achieve Olympic Dreams
Sisters Yulduz and Fariba Hashimi are set to become the first female cyclists from Afghanistan to compete in the Olympics. The siblings fled their country after the Taliban seized power in 2021 and cracked down on women's rights, including banning women from participating in sports.
5. Stem cell therapy cures man with type 2 diabetes
A 59-year-old man had been suffering from diabetes for 25 years, needing more and more insulin every day to avoid slipping into a diabetic coma and was at risk of death. But then Chinese researchers cured his disease for the first time in the world. The patient received a cell transplant in 2021 and has not taken any medication since 2022.
6. Seventh person likely 'cured' of HIV, doctors announce
A 60-year-old German man is likely the seventh person to be effectively cured from HIV after receiving a stem cell transplant, doctors announced on Thursday. The man received a bone marrow transplant for his leukaemia in 2015. The procedure, which has a 10 percent risk of death, essentially replaces a person's immune system.
7. Every country has now banned the use of leaded gasoline in cars
Three and a half decades later, in 2021, Algeria became the last country to ban it. Leaded gasoline is now banned from being used in road vehicles in every country. It is a big win for the health of people around the world.
