Anyway, Here’s my entry for @kururu418‘s Tales of Mewni: Legends Contest. I originally planned on sharing the link on here shortly after I uploaded her on DA. But her bio & story weren’t fully completed at the time. So I chose to wait until both of those were finished. Anyway, I hope ya’ll like her.

This is my first entry to @kururu418 Tales of Mewni: Legends Contest. I made a Tiefling. But this is not just any tiefling, she if a former Chief of the Tiefling Tribe and with @sluumber's permission, Arty's ancestor. Thanks you @sluumber for telling me all about your tiefling tribe.

Name: Luna Sigrin

Title: The Innocent/Blue Demon Dodger

Note: Only the tieflings called her The Innocent.

Age: 22 (The age of her death)

Sexuality: Demiromantic, Lesbian

Birthday: January 6th (Capricorn)

Species: Tiefling

Alignment: The Tiefling Tribe (Formerly; Before her Death), The Titanic Ten (Currectly; When she is resurrection)

Appearance: Luna is a black-coded tiefling by 6'1" ft. tall with blue skin, sharp teeth, and dark blue hair styled in locs. Her eyes are a solid orbs of gold. She has two sets off horns coming from the side of her head, as well as pointed ears, and a sizeshifter monster-esque tail. She wore a purple medival styled attire; A purple blouse with ruffle around her shoulders, puffy sleeves, and a corset. She also wear a dark purple skirt with yellow outline. She prefer to walk on bare feet, but on occassion, she wore sandals. Her white colored battle armor consist of a separate chainmail jacket, hand dyed silk tunic, chainmail leggings, combat boots, and 2 armor plates that interlock at the top. The silk chiffon piece under her tunic can be detached so she can choose to move freely, or use it to strangle her enemy.

Powers/Abilities/Skills:

Tiefling naturally have a resistance to fire and see in the dark. Luna's prehensile tail allows her to grab onto objects with relative ease. Her tail is strong enough to not only support her own body, but also an adult mewman completely off the ground, and is deft enough to fight with a spear or blunt object. Luna have the best dodging skills since Luna is a master acrobat things to her flexible bone structure. Her bone structure allowed her to have great flexibility. She can remain in a crouched position for a longtime and perform contortionist, without causing any damage to her spine.

Weaknesses:

When someone touch her tail, she will become vulnerable because her tail is sensitive.

Weapon(s): Beside her silk chiffon piece and tail, Luna used a spear calls Night's Shines and a shield, The Protector.

Fightning Style: Luna fights like Okoye from MCU: Black Panther. She also used her shield, not just to defend herself, but to attacks as well. The shield attacks is similar to Maple from Bofuri. Luna can throw her shield, The Protector likes a boomerang similar to Captain America's shield throwing technique. For last resort, she used the silk chiffon piece under her tunic to strangled her victims.

Background:

Despite the fact that blue skinned tielfings are a recessive traits, they are said to be superior of them all. The Sigrin Family are the only family to have blue skinned tielfings even though some are wed to different colored skinned tielfings and have different color children, but those who are blue tieflings outside of the family, will either be adopted to the Sigrin family if they are orphans, or have the choice to wedded a member of The Sigrin Family to raise a higher percentage of blue tieflings so their heirs can be in line to become the chief of the tribe.

Luna is the third child and only daughter of The Tielfling Tribe's Chief, Matthias and Stella Sigran during the era of Solaria. Her 20 years old brother Glen became the next chief after her father, Chief Mathias got slain by a knife from the Butterfly Queendom. The position, the deputy (a title suited for the heir) was suppose to go to Glen and Luna's brother, Finn Sigrin until Glen have kids of his own, but Glen's twin brother, Finn ran away from his tribe to be with a succubus in the Underworld, leaving his people, his siblings, his wife, Serenity, and son, Moonstone's behind (they are both purple tieflings). So Luna Sigrin became a deputy at the age of 8. Luna is trained and studied to be a chief. She learned how to fight by brilliant fighters so she can protect not just herself, but for her people as well. Luna Sigrin often goes to the tribe's library studied to become the next chief at tiefling history, math, astronmy, their laws, and tradition from her elders, and her mother, Stella, a white tiefling who is the tribe's librarian, historian, and teacher.

At the age of 15, here village was under attack by Queen Solaria and her army of Solarian Warriors and Queensguard knights. They slain the tieflings and set fire to the library, burning most of their knowledge written in scrolls, and the rest of the village along with it. Luna, her brother, and her people were able to escape Solaria and her army before being killed too.

As a young Luna watched the burning remains of the village, something burn inside her chest. And that was anger. 220 tieflings were killed, along with Stella Sigrin, who stay in the library to save what was left in the burning library. Only 5 ancient scrolls were saved. These scrolls contained the last of previous' generations' history, laws, traditions, legends, other languages, likes Demon's Tongue, stories, astronomy, and the secrets to life.

Luna Sigrin picks up her spear and shield and demands the remaining survivors of her people that they have the decision to either rise up or stand down. She swears by her spear, Night's Shines, a gift from her mother that they are in and get on board, everyone raised their hand up in the air and salute as they were ready as they ever be.

With her big brother's permission, she leads her people and recruited many monsters to fight against the Butterfly Queensdom and their allies to get their homeland back, and making sure no territories is ever taken by the filthy hands of nobleman. Luna even made an alliance with a monster rebellion group whose have suffered poorly (either losing a family or their home being taken) from the mewmen, especially the Butterfly Queensdom.

Luna became a legend by being a great warrior, and gained the title, The Blue Demon Dodger. She was feared for the strength of her tail, since it would be easy to launch mewmans and such with it, as well as her acrobatics playing a part with how she could easily dodge people in battles. Her battles are recorded in a scroll written in the languages called "Tiefling's Tongue", written by her nephew Moonstone in hope for the next generations to know the story of how Luna Sigrin have gather an army of tieflings to fight for a better future for them.

Luna Sigrin became the chief at the age of 17 as her brother, Glen died from an unknown illness. He was only 29 that time, and have left his pregnant red tiefling wife, Milky a widow. Soon, she gave birth to a blue tiefling and named her kid after her aunt because it is a miracle that they finally have a blue tiefling in the clan to take Luna's place when she is gone. However, Milky passed away from childbirth, and Luna is left to taking care of her niece. Luna ruled her clan in a great authorian manner and a mother toward the little ones, especially her niece, Luna Jr.. She still continue battling to get their rights for 5 years.

At the age of 22, Luna Sigrin passed away. There was a battle between the monsters and Solaria, the Solarian Warriors, the Queensguard, and the Magical High Commission. A mewman child interefere by stepping into the battlefield. The child is confused and panic as his play day turned into a nightmare. Seeing blood, cries, and corpses. The child try to escape. Suddenly, a Solarian Warrior start to acts crazy and swings his sword wildly attacking not just monsters, but also his fellow knights. The Solarian Warrior is now under the negative effect of Solaria's Solarian Warrior Transformation Spell, or a few people it is incomplete. Everyone fled the area for their own safety. Except for the child whose have fallen down as he close his eyes as the Solarian Warrior plunge his sword at him. A scream have been heard, meaning that the person is now dead. But it is not the child because the cry does not belong to a child male's voice, but a female tiefling's cry. The child opens his eyes and see someone have saved his life, he thought it was a knight, but instead it was a monster, and that monster was none other than Luna Sigrin. The child suddenly have a mental breakdown and then started to cry, not because he was cover in blood, but under mixed feelings that Solaria's words about monsters being evil are a lie. The tieflings, Solaria, and the MHC witness Luna's demise. A few of them grabs Luna's corpse and flees from the battlefield to retreat. After the battle, some people started to doubt that monsters were actually evil, and thought they are the evil ones, questioning Solaria's plans to wiped out monsters, and her spell. To avoid people from leaving the army, and the decrease in numbers of people have fallen. The Magic High Commission made up a lied that Luna have kidnaps a child and dragging him to the battlefield so she could used him as a hostage to gains advantages to win the battle, or else he be either eaten or killed. While Solaria used Mind Eraser to erase the kid's memory of Luna saving his life, and tell him that Luna Sigrin was gonna take him to his tribe to eat him. Some of the knights and Solarian Warriors who witness this were either have their memory erased of what happen, or were threaten by the MHC that if they tell anyone that a monster saved a child's life, they will be punish for treason. After the MHC tell their side of the story, everyone in the Butterfly Queensdom believe in them, and started to warn young children telling young children to never go into the battlefield again or else monsters will captured them to be hostages or foods.

Luna's false crime quickly turn into a ghost story in the future as some parents used them to scared young children to never go into the battlefield alone, or else the ghost of Blue Demon Dodger come, and get them, and take them away, and never to be seen again.

A random succubus got the informations after seducing a fellow knight, and decided to spread the word (for money). Soon, news travels fast as words get out from monster tribe to monster tribe. The tieflings found out about this, and were furious because it is all a lie. Some saw Luna's heroic action to have her own life taken away to saved the kid. However no Mewmen ever believe them, and those who did not were either have their memory erased, or do not have the guts to be on the tieflings' side due to feared of treason. This gained Luna's second title, The Innocent, and only the tieflings called her that title.

After her death, the tielfings went on their separated path because being just one group could caused them to be spotted and be slain by the mewmen again. Most of the tielflings, such as Serenity, Moonstone, Luna Sigrin the Second goes to the Underworld to blends in with the demons, when they got there, they found 35 years old Finn Sigrin, all alone with a succubus-tiefling hybrid baby in his arms after his succubus lover two-time him. He became the new chief and ruled with his ex-wife, son, and his deputy, Luna Sigrin the Second once the Tribe have been reformed. Others stayed in Mewni because this is where their ancestors live. Some were captured by the Mewmans. A few tieflings search for any members who are allied with The Titanic Ten, or at least find someone who have connections to them and Typhon in hope to go to Typhon's kingdom for protection.

Her legacy is passed on through many generations for her kind and mewmans, but in different perspectives. The tieflings call Luna a saint, and the mewmans calls her a criminal and would tell the ghost story to little children to never go into the battlefield, or Luna will come and get them, and endanger their life.

The current generation used the 5 ancient scrolls and the scroll containing histories of battles that Luna Sigrin have fought, and a bit of autobiography about her are in a the reformed tribe's library to learnt about themshelve, and what happened in the past, and why they left Mewni and settled down in the Underworld. The library is well protected by the guards so that the library will never ever be destroyed.

Personality:

A cool and composed demeanor whose ruling is more motherly than authorian. Despite her position and her serious attitude when her duties are concerned, she shares a relaxed, friendly nature.

Luna have great sense of justice and pride in being a member of her tribe.

Luna have immense bravery and loyalty to Mewni.

Luna is a fiercely loyal protector of tribe who isn't afraid to question her anyone who is stronger and superior than her, but would defend them with her life, fiercely protective of them despite their warrior abilities.

A traditionalist who is as formidable with her golden spear, Night's Shines as she is with her tongue.

Sometime Luna is very impatient, disliking people who don't answer her questions quickly enough.

She does not open her heart to people, and at the same time, doesn't bottled up her emotions, often letting them show in sudden bursts of destructional rages, mostly in battle.

She is ruthless. She’s tired of the anti-monster prejudice.

Luna describe herself as someone who was always crying, since she wasn't able to protect those dear to her. 

She is good at making decisions in a snap and gives morale-strengthening remarks.

She is a family person. Yeah her tribe is her only family she have. And Arty is family too. She would try to kidnaps him and convince him to leaves;

Luna have a genuinely motherly disposition about her. She adopted and raised Luna Sigrin the Second like she was her own.

Focus on her goal to keep protecting and guiding her tribe so they can be alive to thrive for many generations and hope that the new generation learn about their history and their traditions.

Even though she believe in revenge, she is an honorable type. For example, she gave her fallen enemies a proper burial, rembering their names, the date of their birth, the date of their death, and how they die. She often bring them flowers to their graves.

Relationship

The Earth Nymph Tribe: They were trading partners whenever the tieflings venture to the Tribe, trading their scrolls, silk, and spears for the finest fruits. Bud knew about the tieflings' existence, and believe that the tiefling are now we extinct just like other extinct monster species. He does not know whether of not Luna is innocent or guilty as the Earth Nymphs are always neutral.

Family: Luna is extremely close to her family, and love them very deeply. Especially her brother, Finn. Luna moans alot when she lost her parents and big brother. She thought of giving up everyday, but she did not because she thought about them and they would be disappointed in her, and do not wants her to be sad. So she treats her tribe as a second family. When Luna Sigrin the Second was born. Luna was happy that the bloodline will continue on. And giving Luna another purpose to fight. She fought hard for Luna to make sure her niece will not suffered the same experience as her. If she found out about her brother, Glen and Finn's descendants, she be overjoyed. Luna would be sad about her fate of her people, some separated from the Tribe, and most of them are in the Underworld in a tribe, but under poor conditions because she failed them. And she wanted to picks up where she left off, but cannot because she is under the controls of the Titanic Ten. But she is glad that someone is taking her place and hope he did a better job as chief than her.

Arty: Luna is shock that Arty, a tiefling become a knight for the Butterfly Queensdom, the same Queensdom whose knight have slained her own father. Believing that Arty is brainwashed, Luna will try to bring Arty back to her tribe that have been reformed in the Underworld where he belong. These two do not realized they are related, and would be close if they get to know each others.

Stellaluna Nightray

Stellaluna is a tiefling-succubus-unknown demon hybrid and is a black sheep in the Sigrin family because, she is a direct descendant of a succubus who seduce Finn that he ran away from his tribe to be with her. Stellaluna is treated like a servant to The Sigrin Family than an actual member. The Sigrin Family only let her stay to boost her reputation, and not out of pity and following her parents' dying wish. Stellaluna carry around a necklace to remeber her parents. Stellaluna ran away and become an assasin to gains money to take care of herself. She was about to be killed by her target, a Mewman knight when Luna Sigrin saved her life under the member of The Titanic Ten's order. Luna at first is confused on why she saved Stellaluna until Stellaluna tell her who she is and know about her. Luna is in disbelief until she spotted the necklace Stellaluna is wearing. The necklace is actually made by Luna Sigrin herself as a birthday gift for her brother, Finn. Overjoyed, Luna hugged her, take Stellaluna with her, and Stellaluna become an ally to The Titanic Ten.

Slick: Luna thinks he is a bad influence on her descendant, Arty as she heard how irresponsible he is on his duties as a knight. Although, she does admired his spear mastery and his ability to never die.

Solaria Butterfly: Luna despise Solaria because of her goal in wiping out all the monsters is wrong, and how she used her allies as pawns, stepping stones to achieve her goals, one by one. During the battle, Solaria is shock that Luna sacrifriced her life to save a Mewman child, slowly questioning herself if monsters are not evil than she thought it was. But then Solaria brushed it off and accept and believe what the Magic High Commission said about Luna, using innocent Mewman children as hostage, and eat them if she does not get what she want to protect her reputation on her experiment, The Solarian Warrior Transformation. Which will become one of the biggest mistakes Solaria ever made, and possibly one of the biggest regrets she have.

The MHC: Luna have the same hatred for them as much as her hatred for Solaria. But her hatred grew more, when the Magic High Commission have made a story that Luna have kidnap a Mewman child and have them be in hostage to gain favors to win her last battle. Luna would be like "What the hell?! I would never do that. That is so low."

Astro Butterfly: A person she will hate of Luna ever meet him. Not only he is the Prince of the Butterfly Queensdom, but also resemble Solaria the Monster Carver. However, she questioned on why some members of the Butterfly Family, who have history of hating monsters, discriminates them, and killing them would ever married/mated to a monsters if Astro tell Luna he is half-monster. Luna would be absolutely shock when she found out that Astro is the son of Typhon, King of the Monster.

"My name is Luna Sigrin, the 30th Chief of the Tiefling Tribe," She said as she twirl her spear around and raise her shield up. Luna is ready for battle. "Tell me your name and birthday, so I can buried you as I spilled your blood and guts."

"Gives me back my squire, you weird bitch!" Slick demand as his spear go toward Luna. Luna's tail grabs the spear and pulled it away from Slick's hand.

"Never! I am taking him home. You cannot stopped me." said Luna.

"I don't care!" Slick said.

"I don't care about your "I don't care attitude" or you being so slick. Because you are not slick than you think." She said.

Luna grabs Arty by the waist using her tail and run off.

"Damn...." said Slick.

"You are Luna Sigrin," said Stellaluna as she saw the nobleman who was going to killed her die from Luna. His blood flow out of his body, and the knife is not in his hand anymore. Luna nods. "Yes dear one.... How did you know?"

Stellaluna pulled her necklace up for Luna to see. Luna is shocked to see the necklace made of stones and feather with the initial of F.S. on the center of a heart shaped stone.

"My name is Stellaluna Nightray. I am a descendant of your brother, Finn Sigrin. Thanks you for saving me."

Tears starting to flow out of her eyes. She hugs Stellaluna tight as she sobbed. How could a child, her niece by default have forced to became an assasin for a living. What kind of hardship did she face- her people have face when she was gone?

"They will pay." Luna said with her teeth gritted in silent rage at one thing in her mind. The mewmen.

"Hello, Hekapoo," said Luna as she threw her spear at Hekapoo. It struck on the wall instead of at Hekapoo's forehead.

Hekapoo gasped and threw fire balls at Luna. But Luna swiftly dodged all of them. While she used her shield, The Protector to dodge the second group of fire balls. She threw her shield, it hit Hekapoo in the nose, and it bounce back likes a boomerang. Hekapoo's nose started to bleed.

"What are you doing here?! I thought you were dead!" She cried out as she saw the living image of the victim of the MHC's action.

"I am just here for answers," Luna explained. "How dare you accuse me of a crime I have never committed! I never kidnapped a kid, and used him as hostage!"

She jumped and grabbed her spear and the two spars with scissor against spear.

"What was I suppose to do?! It was only the past, and I was young at that time. Plus I cannot let Solaria's achievement goes to waste."

"You should have told them the truth!"

"But then no one would volunteer to fight to protect their lands!"

"It was belong to all the peaceful and benevolent monsters!"

"Benevolent?!"

"Well the Mewmen made us savages! So are you! You are all evil! Especially that Solarian Warrior who tried to slain his own kind!"

"At least Solaria improves one of her spells!"

"That is not the point," Luna snapped. She stabbed Hekapoo in the eye. Rage is flowing in her. "The Mewman child could have die! I only saved his life because he reminded me of Moonstone. His childhood have been so miserable ever since his father left him, his home been destroyed. And he could have a normal childhood, only to force to grow up and record only the history. As for my niece... She was only 5 when I left her... She have to be in hiding, so no mewmen would spotted her because she is blue. She would be waiting for me every time I left for battle, and fearing I would never come back. I was like a mother to her ever since her biological mom passed away. How would you feels if your child or your nephew ever get slain by a Solarian Warrior?! Have you ever wonders what a face of a mother have as she watch her kid be killed by them? Well what if they came back and saw one huh? Thinks about that!"

Hekapoo stopped what she is doing as her face froze. She never thought about that, then her skin started to pale even more as she imagined a resurrected Solarian Warrior slain Ambrosine and she disappear from existence by the curse Solaria made to get rid of the monsters.

Luna kicked her away.

"You disgusted me."

- Luna is named Luna after the moon because in the past, tiefling worship the stars, ised the constellations to travel, and astronomy.

- Luna Sigrin is based off of Ezra Scarlet from Fairy Tail and Nightcrawler from Marvel: The X-Men.

- Night's Shines and The Protector are hung in the Weapon Chamber of the Reformed Tiefling Tribe Chief's Hut. Shined and polished.

- Voice Headcanons: Teenage Voice (Susie Carmichael from All Grown-Up), Adult Voice (Abishola from Bob ♡ Abishola), Warrior's Voice (Okoye from MCU: Black Panther), and Voice as Chief (Erza Scarlett from Fairy Tail)

- Everyone in the tribe know that Luna is a demiromantic lesbian, because she always talks about girls to her friends rather than boys. Serenity sometime arrange Luna to date a girl when Luna have free time.

- Since Luna is the 30th chief, her father is the 28th chief, her brother Glen is the 29th, Finn is the 31st chief, Luna Jr. is the 32nd, Therai is the 58th chief, and his son is the 59th chief of the tribe.

- The reformed tiefling tribe is planning on having a trading partnership with the fire nymph tribe and the small succubus tribe, and if the Butterfly Queensdom discover that there is a tiefling tribe.... The Butterfly Family would try to ask them for forgiveness and start over. But they will refuse after the shit the Magic High Commission have pulled, even though the MHC have not controls the kingdom anymore.

Nico’s Eyes of Heka

With ‘Eyes of Heka’ ability that Nico got from his mom’s mummy ancestry, he can see the flow of magic. It gives him a near 360º field of vision that allows him to perceive the flow of magic, use telescopic vision that can see through solid objects to track a targets through magic, and read the flow of magic within people’s bodies. He can clearly see magic pathway, determine key weak points, and to some degree predict opponents moves by reading the fluctuations of magic/soul in a person’s body. Legends even say that masters of the ability can also see through invisible barriers that connect between dimensions. While an incredibly powerful ability, it can be pretty taxing on a person’s body and mind if overused or if the user isn’t physically fit.

Lunar New Year Cuties🧧🐯🎇

“Xin nian hao! Rawwwwr!” Rain said, wearing her tiger onesie and striking a pose.

Mei blinked her pink slitted cat eyes at what her best friend was wearing, unable to hold back her smile at how utterly adorable Rain looked. “Raindrop, love the look but I don’t think that’s what Auntie D meant when she said we should dress for the New Year.”

“It’s the Year of the Tiger, Mei-Mei. So I had to be a Tiger!” Rain said, hugging Mei. “Now we’re cat twins!”

“I suppose we are.” Mei snickered.

Here’s the new Jake/Juniper next gen kid that’s made to replace Junji in the verse. Since he’s Junji’s replacement, I think that basically means everything that’s Junji’s done so far in verse has been Jun now. Anyway, he was fun to make and I hope you like his design! 😁

Prozzak AU

This is a response to @moringmark​ to help create an AU. This is an AU I’ve been sitting on a while now, so let’s get started.

First a bit of background. Prozzäk was a animated Canadian pop duo that was active between 1998 to 2008, then again in 2015 to 2019. Prozzak told the tale of two friends Simon and Milo as they searched the globe for true love. They released four albums before disbanding in 2019. I’m going to setting the AU using roughly the same story, but with Star and Marco replacing Simon and Milo.

The Legend of Star and Marco:

In another world, there was a large battle for between the kingdoms of Mewni and Monsters. In the Kingdom of Mewni, the next princess received the royal magic wand in order to lead her people to victory. One day, the princess was chosen to lead a sea mission. So she boarded a large warship as a part of her kingdom’s grand invasion strategy. As her ship turned the corner, there were dozens of enemy ships waiting for her.

In a distant time, there was a young man who had just reached the age to become a warrior in his tribe. He had completed his training and earned the name Red Dragonfly. His tribe was locked in battles for territory and power. He set off across the plains to conquer the neighboring tribe. But just as his band had turned the corner, they were ambushed by the enemy.

At the same time, both the princess and the young tribal warrior were locked in combat against well matched opponents. It appeared they were locked in a dead heat. The only question was how dead and how hot.

All at once there was a thunderous noise from the sky. The battles and the sea were plunged into the darkness. Out of this darkness, a huge vortex opened in the sky and a brilliant light ripped apart the dark clouds. It settled on the princess and the warrior and their struggles. 

The great unseen voice called from the sky, “You two have been chosen, chosen to live in a time and place that is not your own, sentenced to walk the earth in search of true love. Only true love holds the key to your destiny.”

And all at once, the princess and the warrior were transported from the blood, sweat and salt water of their battle and sent into the present. Through the princess’s magic, they learned to understand each other and their strange new world. Red Dragonfly adopted a new name for his new life, Marco Diaz. They settled in an abandoned castle as their studio slash compound. 

The duo began to document their worldly travels in song. This is the story of the musician Star and singer Marco as they travel the modern world in search of true love. Only their friendship keeps them going from port to port, city to city, from love to loss, with the hope that the right person will capture their restless hearts. How long will they search the world? How long until they realize that the keys to their hearts lie in each other?

tl;dr version

Star and Marco are taken from time and place to find true love (it’s each other) and they document their travels through music and become a pop duo.

The only warning I have to give you is that while I love Prozzak’s music, I know it’s not for everyone. They have their animated music videos on YouTube, but if you don’t like their music, I guess just plug in your own. If you want, you could even called this Pop Duo AU.

🖤- The worst nightmare they ever had.

Globgor felt very confused as he made his way through the vacant halls of the Monster Temple. He didn’t know where he was going or how long he had been walking. Where was everyone?

His brow furrowed as he noticed a familiar blue glow shining in the room ahead of him. Despite his confusion, he knew he wasn’t going to like whatever he found by the twisted feeling he suddenly felt in the pits of his stomach. He charged for the room, still seeming to take forever to reach it despite it being right in front of him. 

Once he finally reached it, it took everything in his power not to fall to his knees. 

There stood Eclipsa, frozen in place by one of Rhombulus’ crystals, terror and panic scratched across her beautiful face. 

“ECLIPSA!!”

How did this happen?! W-When….how did he not notice it happening?! He should’ve known the High Commission would pull something like this! He never should’ve let his guard down! He was such a fool!

“My love, hold on!” Globgor clasped the sides of the crystal tightly. “I’m going to set you free!”

Oh and how the monster tried. He tried clawing at it, kicking it, biting it, scratching it, but it was all to no avail. As big of a buffoon Rhombulus was, there was no doubt that mere mortal hands were not enough to break through his crystals. No matter how much strength was behind them. 

Globgor sighed and rested his forehead against the cool surface. “Don’t worry, sweetie. I’m going to find Rhombulus right now and make him release you! He won’t get away with-”

His words were cut off as suddenly, a beam of green light struck the crystal. His eyes widened as the crystal entrapment suddenly began to crack. Before he even dared to hope that his wife was being released, it shattered….

….breaking Eclipsa along with it. 

……..

Globgor really fell rather than sank to his knees as his brain struggled to process what the heck just happened. Even if his mind couldn’t comprehend it, his body sure could. He was suddenly cold all over, shaking and struggling to sit up. He just wanted to fall into the bits of crystal and die. He never wanted to move again. 

And then, the blasting pain as his brain finally caught up with the rest of him. 

“N-NO!!” Globgor sobbed uncontrollably as he tried in vain to put shards back together. Tears streamed freely from all four of his eyes. He tried in vain to wipe them away so he could see the shards better, until he finally realized how useless his attempts were, leaving him with nothing but the ability to cover his face as his body shook from his grief. 

“ECLIPSAAA!! NO! NO, THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING!! YOU CAN’T BE GONE!! DON’T DO THIS TO ME! I NEED YOU! PLEASE!!”

His sobs continued as he grabbed fist fulls of shards and held them against his heart. 

“E-Eclipsa…..please….don’t leave me here alone….I can’t do this without you….”

“Is this really the King of Monsters everyone has feared for so long? You really don’t live up to the hype of the legends.”

Globgor’s eyes fluttered open as he took in the sound of a voice he didn’t recognize. All at once, his sorrow was replaced with an intense anger he never felt before. That crystal…..it had been attacked. Someone did this! Someone killed his wife!!

Globgor threw back his head and released a mighty roar. He could feel his blood pounding as he got up to face whoever had torn away the other half of his heart. This creature wanted to see the Globgor of legends?? Well, he hoped they appreciated the sight, because it was going to be the last thing they ever saw!!

Once he saw the guilty party, he was instantly confused. It was an old woman with ragged hair and a wrinkled face. She had a malevolent look on her face, clearly enjoying the pain the other was in. 

Globgor had no idea who she was. 

The woman clearly took notice of this. “What’s wrong? Are you having trouble recognizing me?”

Globgor bared his fangs. “I don’t care who you are! I’ll make sure you suffer as long as you’re alive for what you’ve done!!”

The woman’s smile instantly vanished. Slowly, she placed a wrinkled hand against her cheek, causing it to glow. In another instant, a green clover appeared between her fingers. 

“I’ve already suffered my entire life because of you.”

“…..!” Globgor’s voice caught in his throat. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. This had to be a trick of some kind! He took a hesitant step forward, unable to desire the other’s destruction any longer. “M….Meteora?!”

The woman’s face sneered. “My name is Ms.Heinous. I lost that blasted name you gave me years ago, when I was thrown away to be raised by a machine!”

Globgor shook his head. His pupils shook as he looked down at the shattered remains of his wife before looking back at his daughter. “M…Meteora…th-that was-”

“I’m perfectly aware of who that was.” She carelessly kicked aside a shard that had landed near her boot. “She’s is-or rather, was the woman who gave me up.”

The past tense only added to pain of the woman’s words. “No! No, Meteora, that’s not true! Your mother never would have-”

“Why did you two have me?” Meteora’s eyes struck deep in the Size-Shifter as she took a few menacing steps towards him. “Were you two so caught up in your little fairy tale that you never once considered what kind of life you were giving me by becoming outlaws?!”

“W-We didn’t plan on having you!” He cursed himself for his choice of words before continuing. “I-I mean, we didn’t even know it was possible for a child to be born between a monster and a Mewman! We were already enemies of Mewni by the time you came along!”

Meteora arched an eyebrow. “Oh? How dreadful that I had to put a stop to your little happy ending.”

Globgor shook his head. “No! You’ve got it all wrong! We didn’t expect you, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t want you! We instantly loved you with everything we were!”

“Then why was I left alone to rot??”

“They kidnapped you! They trapped us! There was nothing we could do!”

“Ha!” His daughter gave a humorless laugh. “Globgor, King of Monsters, could get an entire army of monsters to listen to him, cause the Mewmans to shake in their boots, yet couldn’t be bothered to find a way to save his own daughter?!”

Before he could say anything else, his daughter began to change. Her hair began to grow down to her waist, her pupils became slit, a tail and horns emerged from her person, and her hands began to sharpen into claws. She grabbed her father by the long hairs of his chin so that they were practically nose-to-nose. 

“Look at me, ‘Father’! Look at what you made me! If you had been a Mewman, I would’ve been able to take the throne! No one would have thought twice of giving me my birthright! But because you gave me this blasted tail and claws and fangs, they considered me an abomination!! I was exiled before I had even said my first word!! YOU DID THIS TO ME!! YOU MADE ME LOOK LIKE THIS!! YOU MADE SOMETHING NOBODY COULD EVER LOVE!!”

Tears once again flooded Globgor’s eyes as he crumbled to the floor. He shook his head, trying to silently deny everything his daughter was telling him. Self-loathing washed over him in a black tidal wave. These were always things he had mulled over in his head, but to hear them said out loud, by his own child no less…..he felt like he was drowning. 

“N-No….Meteora…..your mother and I-”

“Mother is dead.” She spat in the direction of the shards. “And now, you shall die as well.”

“…….” A sad smile appeared on his face as he looked at his daughter through the mist in his eyes. “Would that……really make up for all that I’ve done to you?” He tilted his head back, giving the girl a clear shot of all his most vulnerable areas. “Then go right on ahead. I can’t live in a world where I don’t have you or your mother. Let my final act be allowing you to have your vengeance. I can’t think of a better way to go at this point.”

Meteora’s face remained still. She was obviously not moved by his words. A grin split across her face as she lifted a hand full of green magic. “As if I was going to give you a choice anyway….”

Globgor took one final look at the crystal shards before closing his eyes. At the very least he was grateful that he could die by his wife’s side. In the end, isn’t that all he had ever wanted? His final moments were going to be with his family….even if they weren’t alive and/or happy. it was all he could ever ask-

His hand shot forward, grabbed on to Meteora’s arm. 

….What?

He opened his eyes, watching the frustrated expression of his daughter as she struggled in his grip. “What are you doing? Let go of me! Let go right now!!”

But Globgor wasn’t doing this. He hadn’t reached his arm out…..but that was definitely him holding on to his daughter like that. It was as if something was controlling him. He couldn’t even move his mouth!

He suddenly felt himself grow in size, still hanging on to Meteora’s arm. He watched as she dangled helplessly in grip, her eyes widening in terror. No doubt if he dropped her, she’d be in for a very painful experience. 

What was going on?! Why was he growing?! He didn’t do that! Stop it! Shrink down now before she got hurt!

He watched as changed his hold on Meteora, now wrapping a fist tight around her. He saw her grimace from his tight hold. She looked at him with furious eyes. 

Then Globgor opened his mouth. At first he thought was to speak to her, until he saw his hand slowly raise her up to his mouth…

No. 

Meteora’s face changed to one of horror.

NO!!!

Globgor screamed in his own mind, trying desperately to regain control. No, no, no, no, please! Anything but this!! ANYTHING!! PLEASE!! He couldn’t do this!!! He couldn’t!!! Somebody do something!!! SOMEBODY!!

Before she entered his mouth, Meteora’s form changed again, this time into the little baby form he last remembered. Her gentle eyes filled with tears as she looked at him. 

“B…..Baba?”

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

“Globgor, old boy! Wake up! We’re not losing you like this!!”

Globgor cried out as he felt cold water splash over him. As soon as he opened his eyes, he was greeted by an intense pain burning through the right side of his body. He weakly searched for the cause. 

His eyes met with the blasted red slashes of the Solarian Warrior’s blade. 

…Oh, right. He was in the middle of dying. 

He struggled to look at the pair of Mewmans who were determined to save his life. River, being one of them, sighed in relief as he patted the monster on the forehead. 

“Oh thank goodness. You gave us quite a scare there! We thought we’d lost you!”

“…….Had……terrible dream….” It was all Globgor could muster at this point with the pain he was in. Ironically enough, it was still a more welcome experience than the horrors he had just endured. “M-My family….”

“Your family is going to be just fine, Globgor! Right now you need to worry about yourself!” He motioned for his Mewman friend to grab the other side of the carrier they had the monster on. With a heave, they lifted him up and continued their trek. 

Globgor took a few gulps of air, trying to force himself to forget the horrors he had just seen. It was all just a nightmare. His family was okay still. That was good. That was all that mattered. He didn’t care what happened to him that day as long as they were safe. All was okay as long as his girls were alive. 

Apparently River didn’t agree. “Don’t you go dying on me now, Globgor! Your family needs you! You’re not going to just up and leave them after having finally reunited with them, are you?”

Globgor paused, considering the other’s words. He thought about the Meteora in his dreams, about how enraged she was at his for not being there for her. No. He needed to stay strong. He was the King of Monsters. He had survived several impossible ordeals to protect his people. He needed to do more than that for the sake of his daughter. 

“I…..I won’t, River.” He closed his eyes, trying to will himself to sleep enough to not feel the pain, but not too much so that he didn’t wake up again. “I….will never leave my family again. I promise.”

Vaylon's Crazy Theory #1: Pony Head will die, and Marco will use her horn as a weapon.

I told you these theories would be crazy, even for me.

Perhaps you're thinking to yourself, "Vaylon, you crazy person, you, how on earth could you even begin to possibly justify such an outlandish theory?!" Well, what if I told you that it starts all the way back in episode 1b: "Party with a Pony"? But before I can tell you that story, I have to tell you this story: let's talk about the Holy Grail.

Not This @#$% Again!

If you're a regular follower of my blog, then I'm sure by now you're sick to death of me talking about the Holy Grail theory and how I think Lekmet's horn will come to play a big role in future seasons. Well, too bad! It’s a good theory, and I’m proud of it. There’s plenty of evidence for it, in my opinion -- but I missed something related to the Grail. Something big.

You see, I'm kind of an idiot for not realizing the possibility of this Pony Head theory sooner. The answer is literally right in front of my face every day. Have you ever seen my profile picture? It's the Lance of Longinus from Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Evangelion's Lance is based on an actual legend in medieval Christian tradition. The legend says that a Roman soldier named Longinus wanted to make sure that Christ was really dead, so he stabbed him in the side with his spear. (The use of the word lance instead of spear is debatable, but I like the alliteration, so I'm going to use it.) All sorts of stories and magical powers are associated with this weapon, and lots of different relics claim to be the "true" Lance. But here's the thing I had forgotten: in order for the Grail to catch the blood of Christ (and thus become the Grail), there has to be a sizable wound. The Lance, then, is what causes that wound.

The Holy Grail is only half of the picture! You can't have the Grail without the Lance; they go together. I felt like a fool when I realized the connection I’d been missing -- the hint was right in front of me the whole time.

In Arthurian tales, the Grail and Lance often go hand-in-hand -- one or both are depicted as continually dripping with blood -- and there have been lots (and lots) of books written about the symbolism behind the two mythical objects. One reading is that the Grail and Lance symbolically represent feminine and masculine aspects, respectively. Or, more irreverently, they represent Venus and Mars. Any of this starting to sound familiar yet?

I've written previously about Star being associated with the goddess Venus. Marco, then, of course, is associated with the god Mars; not only is his name ultimately derived from Mars, but he has a strong connection to the color red and to martial arts. The Roman god of war is depicted as carrying a spear as a weapon -- indeed, it's part of his symbol, which has now become the traditional symbol for "male." If there is indeed a Lance in Star vs. the Forces of Evil, then it seems only fitting that Marco -- the Lancer of the series -- comes to wield it.

Once I started thinking about the Lance, it was easy to find references to it (some more subtle than others). I've divided the theory into two sections: the first part will deal with connecting Pony Head to the Lance (and hence to Marco). The second part will deal with the foreshadowing of Pony Head's death. Let's begin!

Pony Head and Marco

Remember "Party with a Pony" -- the very first episode we see Pony Head in? Do you remember what game Pony Head and Marco play at the Amethyst Arcade?

Lance Lance Revolution! I was stunned when I recalled that scene. (I also wonder if it's a stealth reference to the opening of Revolutionary Girl Utena -- watch for the flying horses!) Notably, Pony Head loses the game to Marco. Indeed, for what it's worth, there are a number of references to sharp objects in "Party with a Pony":

The series is trying to establish a comparison between lances and Pony Head. Sound far-fetched? Perhaps -- but that's the point (so to speak) of this post. This theory's reading opens up the episode to a lot of irony in lines like this, for instance:

Pony Head: Look here, Earth Turd. This night is really important to me. You mess that up, and you’re gonna get the horn.

Marco could literally receive the horn from Pony Head. And there is another line in "Party with a Pony" that is much, much darker upon re-interpretation, but I'll save that for the second half. For now, let's move on to some other episodes.

Both Star and Marco make use of Pony Head several times throughout the series as a tool:

Her role as a tool in "St. Olga's Reform School for Wayward Princesses" and in "Pizza Thing" could foreshadow the eventual use of her horn as a weapon. "Pizza Thing" is particularly interesting as it focuses on Pony Head and Marco's relationship -- indeed, every time we see Pony Head on-screen, she is somehow causing trouble for Marco -- and there are odd lines in it like this one that seem to hint at something else going on:

Pony Head, however, does have a sharp edge to stab someone with. Marco using her horn as a weapon would be symbolic of the friendship between him and Pony Head; we would think of her every time he uses it. This shot is probably the most symbolic one in the episode, however:

Bowls, as I noted before in my post on the Holy Grail, are symbolic of the Grail; the symbolism, I think, is reinforced by Pony Head putting eggs into it. (Pizza dough does not ordinarily have eggs in it!) Remember: the Grail and the Lance go together. They are a pair, just like Star and Marco.

Finally, there's a pretty unusual passage in Star and Marco's Guide to Mastering Every Dimension:

It seems likely to me that the writers intend far more meaning behind Pony Head and Marco's relationship than is apparent at first glance; if this theory is correct, then perhaps Marco and Pony Head will become much closer than they are now just before she is killed, and he will commit himself to keeping her memory alive in a way she would have wanted.

Word Associations

I think "The Bounce Lounge" -- another often-overlooked episode -- is important, too, for establishing darker themes associated with Pony Head: that of old age, finality, and death. Yet, before we get into those themes, there's something odd going on in this episode, something that I've previously remarked on: shot-for-shot, "The Bounce Lounge" and "The Hard Way" have similar composition. (If you play both episodes at the same time, you'll see for yourself what I'm talking about.) In particular, I would like to focus on these two shots:

Visually, Pony Head is being compared to a pillar. Pillars play an unusual role in the series; for one thing, they're connected to Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade -- a film about the quest for the Holy Grail. For instance, the pillars that mark the clues that Indiana Jones follows are echoed in the second half of season two of Star vs. the Forces of Evil:

Pillar is a word with an interesting etymology. As you can see, it's ultimately derived from the Latin pila -- a word with some interesting connections (among them: mortar and pestle, pistil) -- but, more to the point (again, so to speak), it’s also etymologically connected to the Latin word pilum -- the famed javelin of the Roman soldier. Both pila and pilum probably have their origin in the proto-Indo-European root *peys- meaning "to crush."

The word pillar is ultimately derived from a root meaning "to crush." If you’re skeptical about the significance of this, just consider what a pillar does at the end of "The Battle for Mewni":

Yeah.

I don't think there's any need for us to balk at this sort of word association -- with cleaved in "Storm the Castle" and Janna sleeping in the grave in "Bon Bon the Birthday Clown," the writers have clearly demonstrated that they're aware of the meanings and etymologies of words. (As an aside, think about how much importance the word crush has in episodes like "Sleepover" and "Starcrushed"!) If Pony Head can be compared to a pillar, then she certainly can be compared to a javelin (or, more aptly, a spear).

The amount of suffering in "The Battle for Mewni" -- and the sheer number of times that the words dead or kill are used -- hint that the series as a whole is moving toward a darker, more serious tone. Would the death of a supporting character really be that out of place? There are some elements scattered throughout the series so far which hint at Pony Head's death; let's take a look at them.

The Shadow of Death

Even from the beginning of Pony Head's introduction, there's an air of danger and death around her; after all, in "Party with a Pony," she does try to kill Marco:

In the same episode, Marco responds to Pony Head with some violence of his own:

If this theory is right, and Pony Head is destined to die, consider how darkly ironic King Pony Head's incredible line at the end of "Party with a Pony" becomes:

King Pony Head: Ah, kids... You have 'em, and then you... wish they weren't around.

And that episode isn't the only one like that; as I noted earlier, "The Bounce Lounge" is entirely themed around old age, finality, and endings. There's a crow in the decrepit Bounce Lounge, an omen of death (if you watch the scene, note how the sound travels to the left channel, drawing your attention to the crow):

There's some visual metaphor going on as well: when Star starts to cry, all of her glass unicorn figurines shatter into pieces. Could this be foreshadowing Star's sorrow at her best friend's death? Indeed, the entire episode seems dedicated to priming the audience for -- something -- some kind of major loss or death:

Furthermore, Milly Sparkles says "six customers" -- and the show wants us to pay attention to what she says and how she says it -- but there are actually seven characters present:

At first, I wondered if something would happen to Marco, since he's the only one not reflected in Milly's shades, but in light of this theory, I now think it's Pony Head. A stretch, admittedly (isn't it all?), but it's hard to deny that "The Bounce Lounge" is a grim portent. To a lesser extent, “Running with Scissors” also presages death in what could be an ironic fashion:

This theory of mine about Pony Head may also help explain something I'd been puzzling over for quite a while during the season two finale livestream, which featured Marco and StarFan13 talking about Easter eggs to watch for during "Face the Music" and "Starcrushed":

StarFan13: Did you find all the Easter eggs? Did you find the unicorn skull, the pizza nuggets, and the shoulder tassels?

As far as I know, there's no unicorn skull in either "Face the Music" or "Starcrushed." However, there are some bones near the flytrap-like plant in "Face the Music":

But those don't look like unicorns to me; look at their teeth. (Also, the clues indicate we're looking for a single unicorn skull.) Perhaps this connection is far-fetched, but I always thought the hint of "unicorn skull" prefigured some other death -- and now I think it may be referring to Pony Head's eventual demise. (If someone has an alternate explanation for the unicorn skull hint, I would be happy to hear it!) But this is just a minor point compared to what I think is the biggest clue of all...

In a post about "Starcrushed," I wrote about how, among other things, the Magic High Commission and Star's group of friends all seem to run parallel to one another:

Emergency Friend Meeting: Star, Pony Head, Kelly, Janna, and StarFan13. Magic High Commission: Moon, Lekmet, Omnitraxus Prime, Hekapoo, and Rhombulus.

Thanks to Moon in "Return to Mewni," we know for a fact that Lekmet is gone for good:

Since "Starcrushed" implicitly compares Star's group of friends to the Magic High Commission, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to posit that one of Star's friends could die as well -- and the closest one to Lekmet in terms of kind and symbolism is Pony Head.

Lekmet is associated with healing (as is the Holy Grail); similarly, real-life legends about unicorns are also associated with healing -- their alleged horns were valuable, sought-after items believed to be cure-alls and were purchased by medieval nobles wanting to protect themselves against poison and disease. Both Lekmet and Pony Head have prominent horns, although Pony Head uses hers for magic, and it hasn't been revealed -- yet, anyway -- whether or not Lekmet's horn is magic (but I think it will be soon).

If Lekmet's horn is to be used as a magic item by Star, then is it really that much of a stretch to imagine Pony Head dying and her horn being used as a weapon by Marco?

How It All Goes Down

From what I've been reading, plenty of fans dislike Pony Head; in any case, I would certainly not characterize her as a popular character. I think she's fine in small doses, and at times she can even be hilariously off-beat: her appearance in "Running with Scissors" attests to that! A moment of redemption for her -- something to truly bolster audience opinion of her, perhaps even a heroic sacrifice -- would fit perfectly, I think, into the development of an otherwise unlikable character. It makes a whole lot of sense to me.

And, if it is to happen, then it seems obvious how: Miss Heinous. From "Heinous" -- an episode that I love due to how utterly off-the-rails demented it is -- it's clear that Miss Heinous is quite involved in the process of losing her grip on reality, and she's also become far more bloody-minded than previously shown. Here's a possible chain of events:

Miss Heinous threatens to kill Marco.

Pony Head sacrifices herself to save Marco.

Marco takes Pony Head's horn for revenge.

Implausible? Sure. I freely admit that this theory is crazy -- it's in the title, after all -- but I absolutely think it could happen, and that's what makes it so deliciously tantalizing. Given the show's running theme of transition, I think it would also be influential in terms of character development for Star if she lost her childhood friend; not only would it be symbolic of her transition to adulthood, but it would provide Pony Head a means of redeeming herself and allow the show to reveal just how dark it can truly be. I can’t wait for November!

Star - WENT DOWN IN HISTORY

WENT DOWN IN HISTORY- Your muse’s story is passed down through the ages, sometimes being stretched or exaggerated in places until it becomes a legend told in storybooks and campfires as poems, tall tales, etc.

It’d been a hundred years since the reign of Star the Merciful, who was beloved by the people. Like all rulers, there were people who disliked her, even now. But those people were few and far between, and were most often shunned for the reasons why they disliked this past Queen of Mewni.

During her reign, Star had passed into law that monsters were to be treated the same as mewmans, and were allowed to get jobs and homes within the Butterfly Kingdom. Many people were unsurprised by this, considering how by then it had been public knowledge that the Queen was on great terms with many monsters, who had frequently visited the castle and been treated like family. People were distrustful of the first monsters who moved into the kingdom, but those who lived nearby had nothing but good things to say about them. And over time, it became commonplace for mewmans and monsters to live as neighbors, and even as a family.

Another of the most notable things that the Merciful had done was early in her reign, the abolishion the celebration of Mewnipendence day, to the outrage of many. It was a celebration of monster oppression, and she would not have it in her kingdom. This was before her ‘monsters are to be treated as mewmans would be treated’ decree, as the celebration of Mewnipendence Day might have caused actual harm to the monsters who would be living within the kingdom had she done them in the other order.

Later in her reign, Star had contracted the help of scientists, architects, and people of various other professions from Earth to help bring Mewni to the technological heights it is at today, and thus began a prosperous relationship between the two dimensions that continues even still. The hierarchy of the past still exists, though the disparity between the upper class and the peasantry is nowhere near as bad as it once was. Now, everybody has electricity and plumbing, as well as access to the internet, and these things are seen as basic rights for all the people. They harnessed the power of the sun for their electrical needs, which produced more than enough energy for everyone.

Yes, the reign of Star the Merciful was one filled with change. And will be remembered and beloved for all of time, by monster and mewman alike.

The darker side of her reign is often left unspoken. Left forgotten. Not by any decree, but out of intentional omission by her supporters. The tales of the most powerful Queen in history, who could kill the immortal Septarians. The Queen who once leveled a mountain with a wave of her hand. The Queen who singlehandedly protected the entire kingdom from assault by the more militaristic people of the Earth Dimension. Who destroyed an entire army, leaving nothing but a smoldering crater where they once stood, ending a war before it began.

Tales that are used to scare little children to ensure they behave, of her alliance with the Queen of Darkness. An alliance that few believe to have been real, as Eclipsa had been dead for hundreds of years before Star had even been born. But they are told nonetheless. Fables of her mastery of dark magics that surpassed even her ancestor. Some say that she was even capable of bringing the dead back to life, but that they never came back the same way.

Star the Merciful was sometimes called by another name, in hushed whispers: Star the Merciless. For those who rose against her kingdom and her people were given no quarter. If they could not reach a peaceful agreement, those who sought to harm were destroyed, utterly and completely. Without even a body for their families to bury.

Star the Merciless, or Star the Merciful. Which was the true title? None could say for sure, because both were true. For she could be merciful, and she could be merciless. Though the one thing that all agreed on, was that she never started a fight. Any battle she was in, any war she waged, all were started by others. She never started a fight during her reign. But she always finished them, one way or another.

My second entry for Tales of Mewni: Legends Contest. Originally she was suppose to be my third entry to the contest. She would be a squire for Slick Spiderbite and a heir to Ponymonium, but instead I scrapped her due to seeing better entries, like Jackson and Arty. After listening to Kururu418's Honorable Mention Video, it inspired me to bring back my Ponyhead, and made her a legend knight.

Background

The Dragon Tribe, now a smaller and less known monster tribe. A combination of strength, speed, and wisdom gained over the years made the tribe to be feared in the past. They also can live as long as seven hundred years. Some even make it to a thousand. Sadly, even if they’ve lived through the toughest times in Mewni, they came out worst in the wars. Their population have been declining ever since they have fought their battle against the Titans, and the MHC. This forced them to be separated into small groups (to avoid being spotted by the mewmen), became peaceful and secluded into the mountains covered in mist. In the Era of Hearts, the Star's second reign, the tribe leader, Drayos Dragonbreath decided it time for the Storm Dragon Tribe, (one of the small dragon groups who conquered storms, using their powerful wings to make a windstorm, and gather clouds to make huge rainstorm that caused flood. They are known for their weather manipulation as well.) to shown themshelves. He sent his son, Kiru hoping to spread words to the monster community that the monster kingdom. And he hope Kiru would marry a woman that is worthy of carry the descendant of dragons and if it must be a noblewoman or princess, then they will forms an alliance in order to thrives, but no kingdoms ever wanted them, except for Ponymonium where he lays his eyes on the most beautiful floating unicorn head in all of Mewni (who just had happened staring herself in the reflection of the pool), Khrysthalle Pony Head. That is the day he fell in love. After a few agreements with the elderly and former King Pony Head and the current Queen Ponyhead, the Dragon Tribe and Cloud Kingdom are allies as Kiru and Khrysthalle got married. Khrysthalle lived in the tribe, becoming the 1st member of the tribe to joined despite being in a different species. A year later Kaizo was born. Then 3 years later, Effie was born. Effie is the second born child of Khrysthalle and Kiru. She was born and raised in the tribe, yet visit Ponymonium at 13. Even though she was royalty and a daughter of the chief, Effie was not next-in-line to the throne to Ponymonium, only the second-in-line to become the chief of her Dragon Tribe. Effie does not mind at all, and did not bother in joining the competition in stealing the title as heir from Jackson (whose she never met, but heard about him), or bother training/studying to be a chief since it is Kaizo's thing. Effie preferred to be a racer in a flying competitions her tribe hold, especially an annual flying championship to see who is the fastest, and hanging out in the thunderclouds.

Effie Ponyhead was a Ponyhead with dragon ancestry – two species that could not be more opposite in nature, which made her never quite fit in with either group. Other dragons were envious of her beauty and disliked the horn on her head, while the Ponyheads were unimpressed by her wings. However, whenever she goes to towns, people hated her and ridicule her just because she is a half-breed and she did her best to ignore them. Effie seek shelter in the dark and stormy clouds, where she discovered she can absorbed lightning and shoot them back.

When the rebels and raiders had invaded Cloud Kingdom to hunted down the floating headed unicorns for their magic that have been leaking out of their neck and their mane, she was the first person to defend her, by generating bolt of lightning from her horn and awakened a new ability, an omnidirection raibow wave, creating a brilliant and powerful rainbow that could be seen throughout many regions of Mewni. Which would be the first step of gaining her title.

She was recruited by the former captain of the Queensguard Fifth Division at the age of 13 and given an offer to join the Queensguard and be his squire. Effie accepted the offer to strengthen the bonds between the Butterfly Queensdom, Ponymonium, and the Dragon Tribe. As well as making Effie the first Ponyhead to become a knight. For 7 years of being in the Queensguard, evil-doers were beware as a storm is coming, and that was Effie. During her service she was given the name, "The Stormbringer" because she was fast like the storm, generates electricity from her horn and strike it like lightning, and finally it due down with a rainbow.

Suddenly Effie died in line of duty of protecting her tribe, she was attending a celebration of her return with her captain she invited, until she have to battle a monster, a Dragon-Eater. It was attacking her tribe. When her fellow tribe members retreated by her brother's order, she was the only one to boldly fought the monster. She was going to win, thanks to her omnidirectional rainbow wave. The monster was finally dead. Well almost, before the monster die he caught her, teared off her wings, and she die from shock. Kaizo and her captain were the two people whose witnessed this. As the monster finally die from Effie's powerful ability, the injured captain and Kaizo took her corpse, and tell the tribe what had happen. All the dragons gave Effie their respect that she was truly one of them, but only to have die to become one of them. Her body is rested in the Field of the Fallen according to her, she wanted to be with her fallen comrades. The Cloud Kingdom and the Storm Dragon Tribe will never forget how she put her live on the line and fought bravely to protect the kingdom whose discriminates her. There is a statue remembering her sacrifriced in both kingdom and tribe.

Personality:

She discovers her passion for speed and for "winning," after winning a flying dragon race as a filly.

Her mood swings is her greatest weakness as Effie's mood can be as changeable as the weather. Partying is a negative influence for her because she will be a party animal. But thanks to her commitment in the Queensguard, she is able to keep her temper in check. Because of her dragon ancestory, strong-winged, wild and ferocious. But deep down, she is pure of heart, having held no grudge against the dragons and unicorns for shunning her. She is loyal to her friends and the Queensguard and will always try to help them in their time of need.

She maybe average smart, but she is only high intellect in Dragon histories tha ked to her father, whose also trained her to fight.

Appearance:

Effie is describe as the most beautiful unicorn and dragons. Effie's unicorn half consist of the head and neck of a unicorn. She has pale, light grayish cerulean scales, a brillant vermillion mane teal eyes with pink hearts for pupils, and a moderate purple, striped horn. On each side of her neck, there is a cloud with a yellow thunder bolt.

Effie's dragon half consists of 4 clawed legs, tail, feathery wings, and pale, light grayish cerulean scales. 

She wears an armor for her limbs and her helmet is similar to Thor: Godness of Thunder.

Relationships:

Her parents

They are overly supportive of their daughter and inadvertently embarrass her often, causing them to have a delicate relationship. Yet she loves them very much and is thankful for their overenthusiastic support that made her the successful flyer she is today. She also thankful for her father to teaching her how to fight. And if anyone ridicule her mom for being in love with a monster, Effie will hunts them down.

As Effie earns the respect of her people and joining the Queenguard to strengthen the relationship between her tribe and the Butterfly Queensdom. Her mother, Khrysthalle cry alot while her father boasts on how great his daughter is.

After their only daughter's death, Khrysthalle develop depression that she stay in bed almost 24/7, and Kiyu doing his best to comfort his wife, and have been failing almost his tribe's duties and responsibilities ever since, which pissed off his father, Drayos.

As for Kaizo, they used to be close, until as he got older, 23, their relationship became distant due to the fact that he have hatred toward Mewmans for slaying his ancestors long ago after meeting great dragon warriors who shared their perspective, and focus more on training and studying to be a chief. He was one of the dragons who called any half-breeds a mistake which made their relationship even further. She sometime go into the middle of his ridiculing if Kaizo went too far. After her death, he regret that he did not have time to bond with her. He wondered why Effie choose to be a knight, and protects Ponymonium, the kingdom that had used to shunned her almost all her life.

Jackson Ponyhead

According to his bio, his cousins bullied him because he is a half-breed even if he is a guard or not, so.... Jackson and Effie neither met each other due to their reasons; Effie being in the clouds and taking her duty as a knight of Queensguard, and Jackson training to use magic and swordmanship, partying, and trying his best to be the guard and heir whether he likes it or not. Effie really wanted to meet him, but understand that Jackson have always go somewhere else to avoid the same treatments she have gone through. After her death, Jackson would learnt from his mom or aunt that he have another cousin whose was also a half-breed. He would visit her funeral, wish he would meets her, and find out more about her.

Other Cousins

They often bullying her everytime she visit Ponymonium because she is a half-breed. Even when she saved the kingdom, they did not show any appreciation or gratitude for her. After her death, they seem to be satisfied that she is gone.

The Former Captain of the Fifth Division, Logan Wolfang

Logan Wolfang was a great knight to her. This man was the only person she met who does not hate half-breed. He is a monster who does not discriminate Mewmen and half-breeds. The captain can handled her moods very well. He retired after a serious injury from the monster attack at the Storm Dragon Tribe and old age. He witnessed Effie fought the monster with bravery and watch her demise.

The Butterfly Family

Effie is very close to Corona Butterfly (before Corona was the captain of the healing division), probably because they are not part of the royal line. They hangs out talking about magic. Effie is only one who know about Corona's love for Morel, and kept her secret safe. Corona is another person who can handled her moods. As for Astro and Effie... Well, she more of a hater, and would often say he is not worthy of being a knight and a prince. Nobody know why Effie hated him, either Effie herself.

When (resurrected) Effie found out that Astro is a half titan, the descendant of one of the Titans who wipe out dragons long ago after she was resurrection, she developed trust issue toward him even more. The reason for Effie to hated Astro is actually because of her dragon blood flowing through her vein that have an ancestral hatred for titans.

As for Nia... Well let's just say that she constantly asked her to carry her for a ride. But Effie refused because she knew that of she do it, Astro would be piss. And she cannot do it for free.

After her death, Corona grimace that she lost a friend, and wished she could have come to help her. If she was here, Effie could have been alive. Astro still remeber her, and respect her as an honorable knight. The two Butterfly Royals often visit her grave to bring flowers.

Slick Spiderbite

She heard story on how he defeated his kidnappers, and admired him alot. So she believes that Slick is stronger than Astro and Astro will lose to him one day. Slick lowkey admired her energetic nature, strength, and agility.

Puff

Mixed feelings for him. She thinks he is shy and would gives him space, and the other time she thinks he is boring and wish he can talks more.

Morel Moringstar

Effie does not see why Corona see Morel. He is lazy and unmotivated, he is only take actions if Corona is around. Which is confusing. She sometime take him to parties that are so crazy a few times in hope he could be active, and this caused Morel to avoided her because the partying broke 2 of his thumbs, but at least he got stamina after meeting some girls at the club.

"But you are suppose to be dead," He said.

"Dead? I'm not....." Effie said as electricity from her horn charges up. It fired, Jackson dodge it by going sideways and rolled over to take cover. The blast hits the tree. It caught on fire, and timber.

"What the hell?!" Jackson cried. He glared at her. To his surprise, her appearance looks dull and her eyes are blackened. He have heard about the titans and rumors about one of them could bring back the death. But he knew it was just a myth, but he thought wrong.

"No.... The titan resurrected her?!" He thought.

Effie flew up and is floating above Jackson. The clouds are gathering to make a big dark cloud. Thunders can be heard.

"I do not know who you are, but you are a Pony Head, but different..... Never mind then, shows me what you got. Proves to me that you can face THE STORM!"

Jackson got his sabre, and levitate. He gulped.

"Oh fuck...." He thought.

Trivia:

• She is loosely based off of Rainbow Dash from MLP: FIM and Whirlwind from Skylander.

Effie was suppose to be my third entry for my previous contest, but been scrapped due to lack of motivation, fear, college, and believing that there are other people who are making Ponyhead kids are better than her.

Effie denied the promotion of being the captain because, she believed that she is not that someone whose is responsible in leading people. She is not her big brother, Kaizo. Her former captain was sad and accepted her decision.

Effie is a battle class monster.

Effie means "well-spoken" or "pleasant speech" in Greek. While Dragonbreath is named after the book series, Dragon Breath. She preferred her last name to be "Ponyhead-Dragon Breath".

Effie does not have weather manipulation like her father and brother, she only generate lightning/electricity, breath fire, fly, and make rainbow.

• She won some third place ribbon, second place ribbons, and until she finally won 1st Place ribbons in the annual flying dragon races thanked to practices. Due to her ego, was declares the fastest creature in Mewni alive. That is until she got defeated by Sear, and Astro high-key reminded her on how his brother defeated him.

• Dark and stormy clouds are her second home. First is the tribe, and third is Ponymonium.

Tales Of Mewni: Legends Contest

Alright, let me just start off by saying I’m totally stoked about all the Tales Of Mewni content I’ve been seeing since the last contest! So many new characters and ideas popping up! So I thought I’d make this little contest to mix things up a bit!

As some of you may know, the next Arc in Tales of Mewni will be taking place in Mewni and be focused will feature a group from the past called the ‘Titanic Ten’. A powerful group of monsters that were all insanely strong and served under Astro’s father Typhon during his reign. They’re going to be the main antagonist of the next arc, BUT, they won’t be alone!

You see, one of the members of the Ten may or may not have the power to bring back the dead (think like Edo Tensei from Naruto) so they’ll not only have to do with them, but some of the most legendary figures in mewni’s history!

So the idea for this contest is to fill the ranks of their numbers by creating some of your own legendary figures in mewni!

This is something I think people can get really creative with. Maybe you want to make a characters who was a legendary warrior from hundreds of years ago, or maybe you want to expand on a current characters deceased family/ancestor?! A famous knight of mewni?! An ancient feared monster?! Whatever you want to try, go for it!

This will probably be a little more loose than the last one since it more or a mini contest, but hopefully people are still interested enough to join in. There will be some guidelines I post later, and a bio for some characters to get an idea of what I mean, but for the most part you have free reign here. So get creative!

I don’t have a set deadline right now, and the prizes will most likely be some one-shots. Of course the ones I like the most will be featured more in the actual story. Let me know what you guys think!

The question of genre in Star vs. the Forces of Evil.

In this post, I’ll be discussing the importance of genre in Star vs. the Forces of Evil -- in particular, demonstrating how the series tips its hand as to what its genre is, and why understanding the genre of the series is important.

This post is possible in part thanks to two users from the Star vs. the Forces of Evil subreddit who directed my attention to the episode “By the Book”: /u/ElHijodelQuesoDragon and /u/Pedrogi. Their names link to their respective posts; without their observations, I would have overlooked some otherwise crucial lines of dialogue.

As I mentioned before, the reason I have these analysis posts is because there’s an incredible outpouring of love, effort, and creativity that goes into the show's production, from directing to writing to storyboarding, and I believe that our duty, as an audience, is to fully explore the wealth of significance that the series creators have given to us -- it would just be a damn shame not to -- and, as a critic, I feel obligated to illuminate that significance so that all of us, including myself, can come away from the work having realized more meaning in it.

Now back to the topic at hand: genre.

My old Shakespeare professor would say that, when trying to understand an unfamiliar piece of literature, the very first thing we ought to do is determine its genre. The genre of a piece of literature informs everything about it: its language, tone, conventions, effects, audience expectations, ending -- all of it. If knowing a work's genre is the first step toward understanding it, then what genre is Star vs. the Forces of Evil?

The series itself draws attention to genre in the episode "By the Book," in the "romantic comedy" or Twilight parody scene:

Marco: "Glossaryck, you'll miss the whole movie if you stay in there. I thought you liked romantic comedies."  

Glossaryck: "Yeah, yeah, oh, yeah. I've seen this one before, and the squid lady dies in the end."

Many people take this scene -- just check the YouTube comments for yourself -- to be foreshadowing: the film's characters, they claim, are analogues for Star and Marco. In other words, because Squid Lady and Werewolf Man can't be together, Star and Marco won't be together, either. Admittedly, this theory could be right, and this scene could indeed be the series meta-commentating on itself; I've seen some convincing arguments of this. On the other hand, I think we should seriously consider the possibility that the Twilight parody is actually misdirection. Why do I think that?

Simple: the film shown is not a romantic comedy at all!

If Squid Lady dies at the end -- if the story is about her and Werewolf Man being kept apart forever not only by society but by death -- then the Twilight parody isn't a romantic comedy, it's a tragedy.

Before going into further detail about that scene in particular, I’d like to discuss each of the genres -- that is, romance, tragedy, and comedy -- and their definitions, both modern and classical: some of their meanings have changed over time. The use of these words -- and Star vs. the Forces of Evil, if nothing else, is very conscious of what words it’s using -- reveals some interesting things about the series.

Romance is a genre whose meaning has shifted radically over the years. There's medieval romance, historical romance, Renaissance romance, and modern romance -- you can find a useful glossary to these terms here. Famous literary examples include The Song of Roland, The Tempest, and Don Quixote. Interestingly, every single one of the definitions of romance fits the series: it's an episodic tale about a particular warrior, who is in fact part of a much larger chronicle of warriors, as she rescues fair maidens and confronts supernatural challenges on exciting, wild adventures while simultaneously developing passionate feelings about someone. Check, check, check, and check; the show is most definitely a romance in every sense of the word.

A tragedy, in terms of classical drama, is a play that ends in catastrophe -- usually death and destruction, whether of people or an entire society. Lovers are kept from being together, families are torn apart, and entire ways of life are destroyed. Famous literary examples include the Illiad, Hamlet, and Death of a Salesman. The meaning has stayed fairly consistent over time.

A comedy, in terms of classical drama, is a play that ends happily. Sometimes they were amusing (i.e., comic), while at other times they could be quite serious -- but they always end happily. For Shakespeare and other Renaissance writers, this happy ending usually meant that the play ended with marriage: that is, with two different things coming together in harmony. Famous literary examples include the Odyssey, Much Ado About Nothing, and Harvey. Over time, the meaning of the word comedy has shifted in sense so that now, in modern usage, it means any amusing work. The series is certainly funny -- but is it a comedy in a classical sense?

That’s the central question of this particular analysis: is Star vs. the Forces of Evil tragedy or comedy? If you believe it’s tragedy, then you might take Squid Lady and Werewolf Man’s plight at face value as straightforward foreshadowing: like them, Star and Marco come from two different worlds, and, because of that, they can never be together.

I think the clue here, however, is that Marco calls the Twilight parody a romantic comedy when it clearly isn’t. This is the equivalent of the writers sending up a warning flag to the audience and shouting, “Hey! Pay attention!” Pay attention to what? The rest of the episode itself, actually: “By the Book” contains subtle but convincing evidence that the show is, in fact, a comedy in the classical sense -- and that therefore will end with Marco and Star being together.

Remember how I said that Renaissance comedies end with two different things coming together in harmony? Star and Marco are those two different things: Mewni and Earth, respectively. Star is quite literally an otherworldly being -- a magic-wielding, winged fairy -- and Marco is an ordinary Earthling. That the two of them should meet and fall in love is a tale as old as storytelling itself, replete with stories of gods, goddesses, and other supernatural entities falling in love with mortals -- just open any book of Greek myths for an example.

Sound far-fetched? Maybe at first -- but “By the Book” subtly reinforces, throughout the episode, the theme of two different things coming together:

Warnicorns are a mixture of something cute -- a unicorn -- and something meant for actual battle, but it isn't until Star reads from the book that she manages to cast the spell correctly and combine the two attributes.

Similarly, there's Star's cotton candy cloud which drops spaghetti and meatballs down on Marco -- again, the contrast reinforcing the notion that her magic isn't working right; in other words, in order for two different things to come together appropriately, she needs to do things by the book.

Even the Incantationdance itself is an example of harmonious union, since an incantation uses spoken language, and a dance uses body language, yet somehow it all works together when performed.

"Earth eleven o'clock or Mewni eleven o'clock?" "They're the same, Star."

Finally, the most important example of the harmonious union theme is, believe it or not, the Boom Nuggets and the soda stolen by Glossaryck. There's an urban legend that Pop Rocks (i.e., "Boom Nuggets") and soda pop together can kill you, and "By the Book" playfully references it. Interestingly, Glossaryck instead uses the (allegedly) deadly combination to "rocket [him]self from a trash compactor" and "save the day" -- a creative if unusual metaphor reinforcing the theme of the harmonious union of two different things which normally would be in opposition. Crazy, right? But it works: Glossaryck turns what might have been a tragedy (Pop Rocks and soda together kill people!) into a comedy (Pop Rocks and soda together can ... save the day!).

Oh, and one last thing, in case you still aren't convinced: Greek comedies originated in festivals celebrating Dionysus. They involved revelry, music, merriment, and dancing and singing.

So let's say all of this is right, and "By the Book" is pointing to evidence that Star vs. the Forces of Evil is, in fact, both a romance and a comedy (in both classical and modern usages of the words) -- what does it mean? Why is it important? Well, I believe that people have the wrong idea about the Twilight parody scene: instead of foreshadowing that Star and Marco won’t be together, it actually foreshadows that the series will indeed end happily: that air and earth, normally opposing forces, will be wedded in harmony -- cleaved together, if you will -- and Glossaryck, as demonstrated by this episode, will be the catalyst that causes that to happen. (The phrase “by the book” itself has some interesting connotations as well, but those might be left for another day.)

To sum up: I believe the Twilight parody in “By the Book” is the best indication yet that Star and Marco are destined to be together and will, in fact, be married by the time the series ends -- and as far as romantic comedies are concerned, that's about as by the book as you can get.
