Bonsai?

Tempo fa, quando ancora ero in padania a lavorare, avevo iniziato a seguire dei bonsai. I bonsai non si coltivano, si seguono, dal mio punto di vista. Bisogna capire da che parte vogliono andare e assecondarli, ma senza fargli perdere di vista che sono... bonsai.

Il bonsai ti insegna molto, anzitutto ad avere pazienza, aspettare, che nella vita di oggi è una delle cose più dimenticate e di cui c'è più bisogno. Il bonsai non cresce dall'oggi al domani, come se bastasse mandare avanti veloce il video o saltare la pubblicità su Youtube.

Questi nella foto erano i due bonsai con già un paio d'anni di vita da quando li avevo acquistati quasi in fasce. Quello di destra è più miserello perché l'avevo comprato in un market che era praticamente un legno secco; e pian piano ero riuscito a riportarlo alla vita.

Poi, purtroppo, quando sono tornato 'in patria' lo scorso anno, li ho dovuti lasciare alla signora che ha acquistato la casa, perché non riuscivo proprio a metterli sul camion. Speriamo che ne abbia avuto cura!

Ora che sono di nuovo a casa mia, qui in Calabria, ho pensato di ricominciare a fare la scuola dei bonsai. Ma ho decso di iniziare dalle elementari, cioé dalla pianta creata dalla talea. Perciò un paio di giorni fa ho reciso quattro talee di pitosforo, le ho piantate e le ho leggermente sfoltite (per dare più spinta alle radici).

Eccone due piantine.

Sulla prima ho lasciato più fogliame, sulla seconda ci sono andato giù pesante per vedere alla fine quale scelta è stata la migliore. Tenete tuttavia presente che in fatto di bonsai sono pressocché un neofita!

Ora dovrò aspettare 6-7 mesi per vedere se le talee hanno attecchito ed iniziare, eventalmente, a trattarle per farne dei bonsai. Dopo il pitosforo voglio, nei prossimi giorni, invasare anche un olivo e un arancio. Poi, andando vedendo.

Intanto, per avere un minimo di soddisfazione, ho acquistato una piantina già cresciuta di olivo e da domani comincerò con lei la 'cura bonsai'. Eccola.

I also love the part in this book where Talea mentions getting money for herself by gambling and just making sure to find a new card house before too many people get angry/suspicious of her lucky streak, vs kihrin in the last book, who employs the same strategy a couple times but doesn’t stop until people are so convinced he’s cheating they start beating him up multiple times.

Thinking about Morea and Talea. Because Morea was the lucky one, wasn’t she? She was bought by someone who treated her well, who let her work towards her eventual freedom. While Talea ended up with Darzin D’Mon, famously cruel and sadistic. But Morea’s proximity to Kihrin (ironically the goddess of luck’s favourite person) was what got her killed while that same fact saved Talea, got her sent away to Yor where she was freed, met Xivan, trained to be a warrior and eventually… became the new goddess of luck.
