Watched a video abt nakayama miho and found that the relationship between her, kimura takuya and kudo shizuka is a bit complicated. miho and shizuka used to be besties until miho’s bf tahara toshihiko cheated on her with shizuka. It was a huge shock to miho. She felt deeply betrayed by shizuka and decided to cut her off.
Love this pic of miho and shizuka cos you can see they were close with each other at that time
Here’re two lovely pics of miho and toshihiko I found online
hard to find a pic of toshihiko and shizuka tho
However, she seems to have a really good relationship with takuya as he has tried to set her up with some of his friends. He first introduced the footballer nataka hidetoshi to her. Dunno too much abt this guy but he’s a playboy and has dated many Asian celebrities. Later, he introduced another playboy friend noguchi tsuyoshi to her, who’s also his long time stylist. Miho was really into him and even considered marrying him but he can’t be faithful to her so she ended up breaking up with him too.

9 Border
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
9 Border (2024, Japan)
Director: Momoko Fukuda, Takuya Sakagami & Kana Torii
Writer: Arisa Kaneko
Mini-review:
9 Border doesn't break any new ground, but it goes through the usual tropes and clichés with flair and cleverness. The main character is very relatable, and the show has quite a few interesting conversations and ideas about aging, expectations and life as a whole. The romance storylines are mostly solid too, especially the one focused on the central couple, which is very sweet. I did feel a bit uncomfortable with the way it handles other topics, like cheating or child abandonment, but at least it doesn't devote much time to them. So yeah, not the best drama ever, but it's fun enough and leaves you with a pretty important message.

Summary:
SMAP's Katori Shingo will star in Fuji's signature TV series "Journey to the West" on September 9 (Monday at 9 p.m.), playing the well-known character Sun Wukong. This will be Katori Shingo's first break since "Super Dad" in 2002. Starring again in the 9th drama in 4 years. "Journey to the West" is a Chinese classic and is also very popular in Japan. It has been remade into Japanese dramas many times, with Masahiro Motoki, Touaki Karasawa and others playing the role of Sun Wukong. This new Journey to the West is the first Japanese TV series of Journey to the West since the 21st century. It is scheduled to be broadcast from January next year. The other main characters have not yet been determined. Among them, the role of Tang Sanzang is highly regarded. Pay attention, because actresses have been invited to star many times before, such as Rie Miyazawa, Riho Makise and others.

BLCD Review: Saezuru 7
Title: Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai 7 (囀る鳥は羽ばたかない 7)
Author/Artist: Yoneda Kou
Shop: CD + Manga
Release Date: 2021/07/28
Cast:
Hatano Wataru + Shingaki Tarusuke
Okitsu Kazuyuki
Masuda Toshiki
Ookawa Tooru
Ueda Yuuji
Satou Takuya
Miyake Kenta
Ito Kentarou
Nara Tooru
Synopsis: Adaptation of the 7th volume of the series.
Review Proper
I'm not sure what's gonna end first: the series or my fucking life.
As much as I love Saezuru, it's gone on for so long that it's starting to get old literally and figuratively. You know, I wouldn't even be mad if Yoneda Kou ended the series by killing Yashiro off in 6. 7 is still well-written to a point and the BLCD did deserve to rank second AGAIN in chil-chil 2022, but I'm not sure about the future of this series (it wasn't nominated in 2023 tho which is one of the few good things about 2023's).
I say a lot of things, but I'm still invested in vol. 7 & 8.
I don't know who I'm jealous of, BUT THAT SHOULD BE ME! This scene is in vol 8, not 7, but I wanted to include it anyway.
I do agree that Saezuru portrayal of the whole yakuza deal is the realest 'cause happy endings over there are quite rare, but this isn't a novel that comes out in one go. Doesn't help that June is ass. I've heard from several friends who've read the latest releases that it feels like it's lost its way and that just makes me sad. I'm still hopeful tho.🤧
As I've already stated, this placed second in 2022's awards. I mean, it's Saezuru. Frontier doesn't spare a penny for it lmao. All the major characters are voiced, and they managed to bring the A-listers back again. Sometimes, I forget that Saezuru is actually based on a manga whenever I listen to the BLCDs 'cause the production is just that good.
Shingaki slayed as usual. I've said this many times before, but no matter how bad or how well he does in another role, he will always be Yashiro. I just came from Tsunaida and we're in the middle of a Rei event in Nu:carnival, so I would expect myself to adjust to Yashiro, but I didn't need any of that lmao. Yashiro is truly Shingaki's magnum opus. I'm not at all surprised that he placed 3rd best seiyuu for Yashiro. Deserved.
Speaking of Nu:carnival, I will forever be obsessed with Yashiro's relationship with the other characters aside from Doumeki. Nanahara's voiced by my one true love, Okitsu, but like Yashiro, I love him for his character and not his voice. It is nice having the other veterans in here with him, too. The slut trio is complete with Daddy Complex SatoTaku, Boss Ass Chaser Okitsu, and Damel in Distress Shingaki. #BLESS I want Kamiya to end up with Nanahara.
I haven't heard Wacchan in years HAHAHAHAHA. His Doumeki is still amazing as always. My issues with the story aside, I'm really looking forward to his "break" in vol. 8. EEEEEEE
Special mention to my Ryuuzaki and Miyake Kenta who made their comebacks here too. I missed him so much! LMAO
The BLCD is pretty accurate to the... magazine at least, but June does sell the translated tanko (fortunately). Like the previous installments, reading the manga while listening to the BLCD was so smooth because it was so accurate. Now 7 does end in a cliffhanger, so I don't really advise listening to it if you still don't have 8. But if cliffhangers aren't an issue for you, then break a leg!

Seiyuu Birthday: Cater's Kobayashi Tatsuyuki
Happy birthday to Cater’s voice actor Kobayashi Tatsuyuki!
In addition to voicing Uchihama Akira in Phantom of the Idol in 2022 (alongside Sebek’s VA Ishiya), in 2023 he voiced Muda Velgear in “Yu-Gi-Oh! Go Rush!!” and he performs as Ito Satsuki in the live stage adaption of paradox live.
He is also a part of “Aoyama Operetta,” performing as Takuya Yagio and doing promotions such as radio spots.
His most recent recording went out on April 6th, viewable here:
youtube
In 2022 he was featured in “HAPPINESS for ALL” and “INNOCENT STORY” from TV anime “Phantom of the Idol,” which both sound a lot like Cater singing.
youtube
He has also been collaborating with fashion brand LIVERTINE AGE to produce his own clothing line. While viewable at this link, items are listed as out of stock.
In February he visited the Twisted Wonderland exhibition in Tokyo, pictured here (on right) with Ace’s VA Yamashita.
Kobayashi is very active on Twitter and honestly tweets a lot like how one might imagine Cater tweeting ww

The Liminal Zone
Junji Ito has to be my favorite manga creator. During a time when it's difficult for me to read, I can count on his mangas not only to add to my reading count but also to let me take a break from the world.
The Liminal Zone goes through 4 stories: Weeping Woman Way, Madonna, The Spirit Flow of Aokigahara, and Slumber.
Weeping Woman Way is about a couple, Yuzuru and Mako, who came across a funeral where a woman was crying louder than the rest. After returning home, Mako began to cry uncontrollably. They returned to the town where the funeral was but found no weeping woman. After a bit of looking around, they eventually come across Weeping Woman Way, home to many weeping women.
Madonna is about a young girl, Maria Amano, who transferred to a private Christian school and noticed the strange practices they follow. She quickly becomes favored by the principal and is told that she is the Virgin Mary reincarnated.
The Spirit Flow of Aokigahara is about a man named Norio Taniguchi, who planned to kill himself at Mount Fuji. His girlfriend, Mika, joined him on his trip. While camping out, they found a strange light and tried to follow it the next day. However, what they found instead were slanted, pale trees. Following the path of trees they come across a cave called Dragon's Mouth, which is rumored to have spirits spill out of the cave every night.
Slumber is about a man named Takuya, who is haunted by the memories of a murder scene before waking up. Every time he woke up, he was convinced that he killed the victims and that he would soon be discovered. He tried different tactics to avoid killing others, even going so far as to stay up for as long as possible.
All the stories were good. I don't really have any criticisms. They all felt perfect to be short stories and didn't need anything extra. My favorite was Madonna because I have a thing for catholic aesthetics and stories with religious undertones.
I'm going to try to read something that isn't a comic or manga, but I make no promises.

Hi Days! I just watched the Kabuki documentary with Ikuta Toma the other day and it was really interesting! I was surprised (and happy) to see Shun Oguri there too! I'm curious though if you've watched/followed other shows of any other Japanese celebrity? I also just finished watching "First Love" with Takeru Sato and Hikari Mitsushima the other day, it was a lovely series ❤️
Hello born!!! The Kabuki documentary was really, really interesting, right???? Finding out about how he was just coasting through being a trainee and realizing one day that everyone (Arashi ahhhh) was debuting except for him, it's like 💔 But he really found his own path!!! And I was also surprised to see Oguri Shun there! Just, like a surprise treat for all the fans??? I had no idea that they were such close friends.
*big sighs* I don't have the time to invest in regularly watching dramas. I do really, really want to watch First Love! Mostly because I want to support Netflix in carrying more Japanese dramas. Also who doesn't love Utada Hikaru.
I'm not sure if you're asking about current or in the past, but when I was a teenager, I watched
Hana Yori Dango starring MatsuJun, Inoue Mao, and Oguri Shun
Nobuto wo Produce starring Kamenashi Kazuya, Horikita Maki, and Yamapi
Kurosagi (2006) starring Yamapi - they've remade this recently starring Hirano Sho (King & Prince)
Gokusen 1, 2, and 3 starring Nakama Yukie
Kisarazu Cat's Eye starring Okada Junichi (ok did you watch him in The Fable on Netflix because if not, you absolutely must!!!)
Dragon Zakura starring Abe Hiroshi
Hana Kimi starring Horikita Maki, Ikuta Toma, and Oguri Shun
1 Litre no Namida starring Nishikido Ryo and Sawajiri Erika
Liar Game 1 and 2 starring Matsuda Shota and Toda Erika
Densha Otoko starring Ito Atsushi and Ito Misaki
Koizora (film) starring Miura Haruma and Aragaki Yui
Tantei Gakuen Q (film & drama) starring Kamiki Ryunosuke, Shida Mirai, and Yamada Ryosuke
Seigi no Mikata starring Shida Mirai and Yamada Yu
My Boss My Hero starring Nagase Tomoya
Ryuusei no Kizuna starring Ninomiya Kazunari, Toda Erika, and Nishikido Ryo
Chekaraccho!! (Check It Out Yo!!) (film) starring Ichihara Hayato, Inoue Mao, and Hiraoka Yuta
Hero SP starring Kimura Takuya
I am certain that there's others that I don't have listed here, but basically I mostly watched dramas that starred Johnny's idols in the mid-2000s. I was a big Toda Erika, Aragaki Yui, and Shida Mirai fan. By 2008, I was moving onto Taiwanese and Korean fandoms, so like Takeru Satoh? I didn't watch anything with him in it even though he's a big name actor now, he was only just starting to get name recognition in 2008.
I have watched a few current films!! So actually I recently watched Mitsushima Hikari in Tang and Me starring Ninomiya Kazunari. She was so good. The plot of Tang was awful, but everyone's acting was SO HIGH TIER that the film was worth watching. I have high expectations for her in First Love. Also I watched The Fable film series on Netflix starring Okada Junichi, and yes. Yes. One of the best movies I've watched this year.
In terms of current dramas... I saw the first episode of Koi Nante, Honki De Yatte Dousuru No? (Who Needs True Love?) which stars Matsumura Hokuto and Hirose Alice. I really want to watch the rest of this because I think it will help me finish writing my fic "Genghis Khan." But. The Japanese is slightly too difficult for me to understand :( I heard from my friend that Hokuto's sex appeal is to-die-for in this drama. If I can't watch him in Koi Nante, I know that I'll at least get to hear him voice act in Shinkai's Suzume no Tojimari once it hits American theaters.
I also watched the first episode of Silent, which stars Meguro Ren and Kawaguchi Haruna. It comes highly recommended by my friends. It took a ton of brainpower for me to understand the first episode, though. My friends have way better Japanese comprehension than me. It really seems like Matsumura Hokuto and Meguro Ren are names to keep an eye on in Japanese entertainment these days.
My friends also really want me to watch Cherry Magic starring Akaso Eiji and Machida Keita. I feel like I've watched it already because I've seen so many clips of it here on Tumblr haha.
I'm sorry this was a huge response 😓 for a simple check-in. I guess I just summarized and relived several years of Japanese pop culture obsession in the past two hours of writing this out. Thoughts on anything I've written here? :D

Oh wow! This might kill me.
I just started watching Ashita no Nadja, and the animation and characters art feel very similar to the animation and character art for Princess Tutu. Looking it up though, im not finding any cross between who worked on the shows. I would say it might be in part due to them being made around the same time, as well as the director of Ashita no Nadja (Igarashi Takuya) worked on Sailor Moon: Sailor stars, and the director for Princess Tutu (Sato Junichi) worked on the first two seasons on Sailor moon as well as the show creator (Ito Ikukoh) worked on much of the Sailor Moon Franchise but not the Sailor Moon: Sailor Stars.
It may be due more in part to Toei Animation? Like a lot of the people behind Princess Tutu worked at Toei at one point or another, and Ashita no Nadja was produced by Toei so...
