“it’s not as bad as it looks.”
Word Count: 1,026
Warnings: Stab wound, fainting, blood loss, brief mention of secondary infertility and miscarriages, brief mention of premature birth, brief mention of temporary deafness, brief mention of neonatal health issues, brief mention of the COVID-19 pandemic
Fandom: Spider-Man (Raimi films)
Pairings: Peter Parker x Mary Jane Watson
It seems to be a running trend of mine this month to write for new fandoms. So, over the past few weeks, I’ve just fallen down the rabbit hole of anything Spider-Man, and right now, the Raimi trilogy has quite a hold on me. A good percentage of this fic is me dumping my post-trilogy headcanons on you.
Enjoy!
————————
Mary Jane was no stranger to exhaustion. But the last however-many hours had been challenging her ability to keep herself going on minutes of sleep.
It was one of the two days of the week on which her alternate would perform, as well as a parent/teacher conference day for the kids’ school district. She and Peter decided to make it a family day before they would have to go to meet with their teachers.
Then, there was this flash of sparkling gold, a few seconds of darkness... and then another flash of gold.
They were still on Time’s Square, with their first stop planned to have been the Disney Store, but she couldn’t place just why it felt so different from a few seconds ago.
Peter had been the first of them to notice one of the newspaper stands, all of the papers blasted with headlines talking about how Spider-Man was a murderer and a criminal. Before she could roll her eyes, she realized that the man-- or, rather, boy-- on the image was not her husband.
Although Mary Jane and the three older children-- seventeen-year-old twins Maisie and Annie (soon to be eighteen), and thirteen-year-old Benji-- were silently thinking the same thing, three-year-old Susan had blurted out, “That’s not Daddy.”
The children, of course, knew of their father’s secret identity as the web slinging hero-- Mary Jane could only imagine how difficult it would have been for them to keep such a secret from their own children when they resided in the same house-- and had been taught from day one to keep it. Though it was tempting to brag about it to their friends.
“We’re still in New York, just not-- our New York,” Peter had tried to explain.
Even as he tried to explain the concept of a multiverse, most of the scientific jargon went over Mary Jane’s and the children’s heads-- at least, except for Maisie.
Peter immediately went to buy the newspaper bearing the likeness of his other... self? Honestly, Mary Jane didn’t know how else to describe it.
“Whoever the Peter Parker in this universe is, he needs my help,” Peter said. “I... I know he does. And not just about this. Something... something’s gonna happen.”
Mary Jane took his hand. “What do you need me to do?”
“Take the kids and find someplace safe,” he told her. “I’ll call you whenever I can, but if you have to move, tell me where you are--”
“I will,” Mary Jane promised.
“I’ll come with you!” Maisie offered.
“Me, too!” Annie offered. “We can help--!”
“No, you’ll be safer if you stay with your mom,” Peter told them. “Okay?”
Maisie was visibly grinding her teeth in frustration, but Annie-- ever gracious and accommodating, the only one of the twins who never had to be scolded twice for the same misdeed-- said, “I understand, Dad.”
Peter hugged the twins, kissing the tops of their auburn heads, before he addressed Benji.
At thirteen years old, Benji looked every bit his father’s son, but had a solemn and quiet disposition that reminded both of his parents of the man that he was named for.
Benji-- their miracle baby after two miscarriages.
Whom they almost lost during a high risk pregnancy, an emergency C-section in Mary Jane’s twenty-eighth week...
“Benji, I need you to listen to your mom while I’m gone,” Peter instructed. “Can you promise that?”
“Yes, Dad,” Benji promised.
Peter picked little Susan up from the stroller. Their little surprise, conceived and born in the midst of an unprecedented pandemic, but had been welcomed into the family with open arms.
“Daddy, you leaving?” Susan asked, her small voice breaking Peter’s heart.
“Just for a little bit,” he said. “I’m going to help someone, but I swear that I will be back as soon as I can. I need you to be good for Mommy and your sisters and brother, okay?”
“Okay,” Susan agreed.
Annie helpfully took Susan into her arms, allowing her parents to share an embrace
“Whatever’s going on, I promise that we’ll be home soon,” Peter swore to her. “I love you, M.J.”
“I love you, too,” Mary Jane said, kissing him. “Stay safe, Tiger.”
Over the next several hours, Peter kept sending her texts, telling her about what was going on. After Susan continued begging, he answered a video call, looking like he was in some sort of lab. She caught sight of two other men in the background-- the baby-faced boy that she had seen, and the other looking like he was ten years younger than her Peter, both of them wearing their own versions of her husband’s suit. The boy from the pictures looked significantly beat up, making her stomach sink as she wondered what in her Peter’s history had just happened for him.
Almost an hour after the video call, everyone else around them began talking about “Spider-Man livestreaming with the Daily Bugle.”
One man had been gracious enough to show Mary Jane the video. It wasn’t her Peter, though. But as she heard the Peter of this world speak, her heart breaking for him as she heard his voice.
“Mom, is Dad there?” Maisie asked, looking over her mother’s shoulder.
“I... I don’t see him, Mayday,” Mary Jane said.
She couldn’t even recall how much time passed before she saw that flash of gold again. But, in an instant, they were standing in the living room of their townhouse.
Peter-- her Peter-- was standing before her.
Without a second thought, she rushed into his arms. The kids almost turned the hug into a full tackle, but he didn’t seem to mind. Mary Jane’s hands began to run up and down his back before she felt something on her hands. She pulled her hand back, and her stomach dropped.
Blood.
“Peter, what happened?” she asked.
“MJ, it’s not as bad as it looks, I swear,” Peter tried to reassure her.
But, he failed as he began to keel over.
“I’ll call 911,” Annie was the first to jump to the occasion, while Mary Jane put her hand over where she had found the wound.
Please... please be okay...

The Amazing Spider-Man (vol. 3) #15: Spider-Verse: Epilogue
Read Date: July 27, 2023 Cover Date: April 2015 ● Writer: Dan Slott ● Penciler: Giuseppe Camuncoli ● Inker: Cam Smith ◦ Roberto Poggi ● Colorist: Justin Ponsor ● Letterer: Chris Eliopoulos ● Editor: Nick Lowe ◦ Devin Lewis ●
Tumblr media
**HERE BE SPOILERS: Skip ahead to the fan art/podcast to avoid spoilers
Reactions As I Read: ● I'm so glad this is the epilogue. I'm kind of burnt out on this story arc… and that's even without me reading the dozens of connected issues! ● the farewells seem kind of light-hearted considering the trauma they've all suffered ● Otto flipping out because he learned that he loses in his timeline kind of tracks, actually
Tumblr media
● oh please don't make Silk the Master Weaver! she just got out of 10 years of solitary confinement (the trauma of which has not been addressed, btw). at least they're paying lip service to the fact that her taking over in the web would be another prison sentence ● British Spidey realizing his whole world is gone and there's… barely a ripple of impact? sigh ● 👏👏
Synopsis: After recuperating, the Spiders open a portal to Earth-982 to send Mayday home. Before leaving, she apologizes to the Peter Parker of Earth-616 for her harsh words, but he tells her that she suffered more than anyone else and that he's proud of her for not letting that break her. Returning to the ruins of her home, Mayday encounters Ben Parker from Earth-3145, who reveals that Mary Jane and Wes survived Daemos' attack. After a tearful reunion, Mayday asks if her father survived, but is told that he died protecting his loved ones. Uncle Ben chooses to remain on Earth-982 and live out the remainder of his life as Mayday's and Benjy's grandfather, and Mayday is given Peter's old costume, renaming herself Spider-Woman.
On Loomworld, the remainder of the Spider-Army bid their goodbyes. Miles Morales laments that he and Earth-616 Peter didn't get to spend more time together, and Peter states that they'll meet again, jokingly suggesting that they hang out in Earth-616 next time. Hobie Brown tells Spider-UK to keep an eye on Karn, stating that while he may seem reformed, he still killed a lot of Spiders. When only Spider-UK, Gwen Stacy, Spider-Man 2099, and the Spiders from Earth-616 remain, Peter prepares to say goodbye to Miguel when their Spider Senses collectively overwhelm them with agony. Karn realizes someone is tampering with the Web of Life and Destiny, and they rush to the Web to find Otto Octavius hacking at it with Morlun's dagger. When Karn shouts that he could destroy the Multiverse, Otto sneers that he's aware of his destiny and rejects his fate, revealing that he figured out that Peter is from the future and that no one will decide his future but he before going back to destroying the Great Web.
On Earth-616, Julia Carpenter awakens from her coma and shouts that the Great Web is being destroyed, and that she can see nothing of the future. As Otto continues to cut the threads, Karn states that at any moment he could erase them from existence and Spider-UK states they're losing portals home. Peter tells Gwen and Miguel to head to their home dimensions before it's too late while he leads the Earth-616 Spiders against Otto. Gwen complains that she never found out how the story ended, and Miguel reveals that he was there when the Superior Spider-Man traveled in time and that in the end Peter takes his body back from Otto and the good guys win.
Otto battles with Spider-Woman and Spider-Girl, stating that by destroying the Web he's giving them free will. When Anya sees that there's totemic script on the dagger and tries to take it, Otto attempts to stab her before being punched away by Peter. Otto sneers that Peter is a coward for ganging up on him, but Peter points out that he did the same when he founded the Sinister Six. Taking advantage of the distraction, Anya immobilizes Otto's arm and reads that there shall always be a Master Weaver spinning at the center of the Great Web. Silk recalls that the Inheritors referred to her as the "Spinner at the centre of the Web" and wonders if her destiny is to take the Weaver's place. Otto again tries to stab Anya, snapping that he has to change his fate at any cost as his world needs him since he's the greatest Spider-Man ever. Peter and Jessica knock him back, and Anya secures the dagger, reading that any Spider Totem can take the place of the current Weaver, but only death can free the Weaver from their sacred obligation. Silk, having spent most of her life trapped in one room, balks at the idea of spending the rest of eternity trapped again, and Karn commiserates with her.
Otto accuses Peter and Jessica of hypocritically claiming to fight for freedom while trying to lock him on a fixed path that ends in his death, and Peter snaps that it was Otto himself who set that path in motion. Silk resolves to take the Master Weaver's place, unmasking him and expressing confusion at not recognizing his identity. Karn states that he knows who the Master Weaver is and unmasks himself, revealing that he and the Master Weaver are one and the same. Otto punches Spider-Woman away, challenging Peter to a one-on-one duel to see who the better hero is once and for all. Peter retorts that a real hero wouldn't have tried to murder Anya or destroy the Mutiverse in order to save himself, revealing that Otto will understand what it means to be a true hero when he willingly sacrifices himself and gives up their body of his own free will.
Analyzing the Master Weaver's armor, Karn notices a slot that fits the prongs of the spear he made as a child, which acts as a key to open the mechanism. When Silk asks how he could possibly be in two places at once, Karn states that the flow of time differs in Earth-001, using the coexistence of Peter Parker and Otto Octavius as an example. When Anya states that only a Spider-Totem should be able to repair the web, Karn states that he's consumed enough Totems for their essence to enable him to take the Weaver's place, donning the Weaver's mask and stating that this shall be his penance and hopefully salvation. Peter defeats Otto, who feigns surrender but puts Anna on a 100 day standby. Anya asks Karn if he can repair the damage done by the Inheritors and Otto, and Karn states that in time he can fix the Web, but that in the meantime all the Spiders' connections to it will be diminished, weakening their Spider-Senses.
As Karn prepares to return him to the past, Otto swears revenge on him, which Karn dryly retorts that he already got by killing his future self. As Otto swears that he'll find a way to survive, Peter shoves him through the portal and he reappears months ago in the aftermath of the chronoton implosion that time-displaced him in the first place, his memory of the recent events erased. Karn remarks that weaving and repairing the Great Web is new to him, but that the existence of Earth-616 has been stabilized. However, he is unable to open a portal to Spider-UK's dimension, Earth-833, discovering that it was somehow destroyed. Spider-UK reveals that Incursions between dimensions have been erasing entire realities, including his own, and laments that he wasn't able to help his fellow corpsmen face the danger. The Earth-616 Spiders console him, reminding him that without his efforts they wouldn't have stood a chance against the Inheritors. Silk asks if the Inheritors will be able to survive on Earth-3145 without draining the essence of Spider-Totems, and Karn remarks that his family can subsist off the life force of any animal, and that the búnker they are in is teeming with mutant spiders for them to feed off of.
Peter says that it's more than they deserve and laments at the loss of his brother, Kaine, gazing at the Other's corpse and stating that he deserved better than to die a monster. Spider-UK remarks that all the lost Spider-Totems deserved to live, volunteering to travel the Multiverse and protect the worlds that lost their Spider-Totems. Anya volunteers to join him, to Spider-Woman's surprise, but Anya insist that there are too many female Spider-Totems on Earth-616 as-is and that she can put her totemic knowledge to good use. Karn dubs them the Warriors of the Great Web and charges them with helping him repair the severed threads, and when Anya wonders if they can do it alone, Spider-UK remarks they made a number of Amazing Friends, as images of Earth-982's Spider-Woman, Spider-Ham, Spider-Man Noir, Pavitr Prabhakar, and Gwen Stacy appear in the Web of Life.
Karn opens a portal to Earth-616, and the Spiders bid farewell, with Jessica fussing over Anya and Peter teasing Spider-UK one last time. After they depart, Karn offers Anya and Spider-UK a tour of the Inheritor's palace, while unbeknownst to them a hand erupts from the Other's corpse, revealing that Kaine is still alive.
On Earth-616, Silk realizes they've been gone for days and hopes the Fact Channel hasn't fired her. Jessica remarks that, as his own boss, Peter doesn't need to worry about such things. Peter corrects her, stating that for a long time he didn't feel ready to run his own company, but that after leading the Spider-Army he feels ready for anything. As he swings across Times Square, Peter wonders if he can ever go back to the small stuff after everything he's seen, but as a woman being mugged calls out for help, chides himself, apprehends the thief, and returns her purse.

REBEL (ordered to pilot)
based on the life of Erin Brokovich
Annie "Rebel" Bello is a blue-collar legal advocate without a law degree. This funny, messy, brilliant and fearless woman cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. When Rebel applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win at almost any cost.
Cast (thus far)
Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy) as Annie “Rebel” Bello, a blue-collar legal advocate without a law degree. A funny, messy, brilliant and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. When Rebel applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win at almost any cost. Julia Roberts played Erin Brockovich, the real life basis for this character, in the 2000 film. (Jan 23)
John Corbett (Northern Exposure) as Grady Bello, a charming jack of all trades who never grew out of his dirty-sexy bad boy looks; even has the vintage mustang to prove it. Grady shares one adopted teenage daughter, Ziggie, with his wife of almost 10 years, Rebel. Although he’s her third husband, Grady has been with her the longest of any man. He thinks of himself as a good guy. Other people, for the most part, think of him as a pathological liar. But Rebel loves him — and he makes the most of that. (Feb 12)
Andy García (Ballers) as Julian Cruz, the lawyer for whom Rebel consults, though sometimes it seems like it’s the other way around. Cruz is a powerful attorney — sexy, smart, down-to-earth and strong in all the best ways. He was widowed two years ago and still is reeling from the loss- his late wife was Rebel’s best friend. Frequently irritated by his most famous employee, Cruz is weary of being guilt-tripped by Rebel into taking on another demanding case. (Mar 10)
James Lesure (Las Vegas) as Benji, a corporate lawyer who was Rebel’s second husband, and he is Cassidy’s father and Lana’s brother. A polished man, Benji is still welcome in Rebel’s life — but he knows that he’ll always get lambasted for siding with the fat cats instead of suffering humanity. (Feb 13)
Tamala Jones (Castle) as Lana, Rebel’s former sister-in-law, Cassidy’s doting aunt — and Benji’s sister — Lana does not suffer fools gladly.  Aware that Ziggie is in a bad place, and inclined to help her niece over the rough patches, Lana is a recovering addict herself — and though she’s employed by Rebel as her investigator, she occasionally turns her well-honed sense of scrutiny in Rebel’s direction. (Feb 18)
Lex Scott Davis (Training Day) as Cassidy, the daughter of Rebel and Benji Ray, one part attorney and one part recovering juvenile delinquent. She’s inherited her confrontational skills from both of her eloquent, argumentative parents, but she’s learned to hide her irritation — a skill her mother never will master. Obliged to act as Rebel’s attorney again and again, Cassidy doesn’t love being on call for Rebel, especially since Rebel was never on call for her. (Mar 12)
Ariela Barer (Runaways) as Ziggie. The rebellious adopted daughter of Grady and Rebel, Ziggie is going through a bad patch. She got hooked on pain medication after an injury, but has been drug-free for the last 72 days. A teenager who needs to attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings on a very regular basis, Ziggie is vulnerable as hell and needs her mother — only her mother is busy-busy-busy with her latest cluster of tormented clients. (Feb 20)

Benjamin “Benji” Hardy // Ricochet // Dark Spider
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Faceclaim: Austin North Age: 16-28 (Verse Contingent) Aliases: Ricochet, Black Spider, The New and Improved Spider-Man, The Unstoppable Spider-Man, The Dark Spider-Man Affiliations: The Sinister Seven, The Dark Avengers, The Thieves Guild Date of Birth: December 20th Species: Homo Sapiens Superior (Inherited powers from two mutate parents) Universe of Origin: Earth-14321
Universe Inspiration: Original, taking conceptual inspiration from PS4 Spider-Man. Also takes some cue from MC2 ideas and interpretations of his parents.
Appearance Benjamin is a tall man of muscular build, one that he isn’t eager to disguise with clothing like his biological father. In fact, it’s been pointed out that he bears a strong resemblance to his step father Flash Thompson, which allowed the brief period in which Flash was married to Felicia an easy enough transition in simply telling people that he WAS Flash’s son. Like his mother, though, Ben has very light blonde hair, almost a trademark in its unique appearance.
As Ricochet, Ben would wears a one-piece jumpsuit, that extends up to the neck, which connects to a silver mask that covers his face up to the forehead. This suit is covered by a leather jacket that has four stacks of throwable discs fixed to each sleeve, which serves a double purpose of protection and offense.
Personality True to form, Ben is Felicia’s son, with a reserved and polite high society persona as Benjamin Hardy, and a wild, free-willed, personality as Ricochet. This Ricochet personality is more close a reflection to how Benji feels he is, as a person. With an impulse to steal valuables, and attack criminals, Ben plays to this personality as a means of acting out to his situation, and the world.
Resentful of Peter Parker, who he knows is his father, and suspects that the reverse is true as well, Benji has a hostile relationship with any of his half-siblings in that regard. Regardless of his persona as a civilian or a vigilante, this will be the case.
In terms of the nature of his powers, Benjamin was able to inherit a blend of his parent’s abilities, to the scale of his own physicality, appearing to be a Spider-Man with tychokinesis, without an ebb on any of their abilities. This gives him something of a complex in regards to other children that Peter Parker has, who may, in his mind, possess weaker versions, or a mix-mash, of those same powers. Due to this Benji tends to have an air of superiority when speaking to other second-generation spider heroes.
Benjamin is distrustful of men in general, often being accused as a momma’s boy, but this is due to feelings of abandonment from Peter, as well as the fallout of certain experiences as a child. As a result, Ricochet is often wary of male heroes, and behaves accordingly.
Biography The relationship between Spider-Man and Black Cat was largely a flirtation, with neither spending much time single, and rarely at the same time. However, those stars would occasionally align, and these two passing ships in New York Harbor would meet for brief, passionate, affairs. Felicia, not the type to often worry herself with caution, particularly when Peter was involved, didn't care much for diligence with her birth control. And Peter, ever the unlucky type, wouldn't realize he'd nabbed a box of condoms that had been part of a recall due to sabotage of the product. And through one of these nights, Ben Hardy would be conceived.
Her pregnancy would be a sobering experience for Felicia, as she had no intention of aborting hers and Peter's child, but just as much didn't want him to grow up with the kind of chaotic home life that being a child of Spider-Man came with. At the same time, she didn't want to NOT raise her child, and be uninvolved in his life, like how circumstance had forced an absence for her father.
And so, the story would go that Felicia would disappear for over a year, only reappearing after Ben was born, had an opportunity to bond with his mother, and could be cared for by a nanny during any times that Felicia was absent. While an infant, Ben's existence would remain a secret from Peter. It wasn't until he was three years old that Felicia would publicly "adopt" Ben, seeking permission to use the first name Benjamin as a way of honoring Peter for making her grow into the person who would adopt a child.
Benjamin Walter Hardy would grow up in Felicia's home, briefly having a Step-Father in Flash Thompson, although this would only be for several years as the relationship ended in a divorce. Ben would not know the identity of his father until adolescence, and grew up attending prestigious private schools. However, a keen mind and quick learner, Ben would often find himself unchallenged by school, and choose to act up in order to amuse himself.
Around his twelfth birthday, Felicia would reveal the identity of his father as Peter Parker, the boy's legal guardian, under the stipulation that he never told Peter. Despite this burst of honesty, she wasn't specific on any details regarding the reasons for why Peter didn't acknowledge Ben (to his perception) or why he was able to raise children as a part of his marriage.
It was around this time that Ben's mutation would manifest for the first time, and Felicia would begin training him in the use of his powers, so that he could keep them under wraps. But, Benjamin had other plans for his powers. Having grown up watching the Parkers, he knew that some of them had manifested powers, and saw this as an opportunity to prove himself their superior, and that Peter would be wrong for not acknowledging him.
Seeking out some of Felicia's contacts from her time as a thief, Ben would encounter Castillo Drake, and insist that the man teach him how to be a thief like his mother once was. To go beyond the simple tricks that his mother had taught him as a means of assuring his protection, or a way of keeping himself from poverty if it were truly that dire, and become a cat burglar.
Training to join the Thieve's Guild, Benji would take one of his father's old identities, Ricochet. His sole purpose for being to antagonize and upstage his half-siblings in their heroic guises as a criminal.
This would be the case for several years, until his identity was discovered by Peter's children, and the misunderstanding is cleared up, although at the cost of Benji's relationship with his mother. Despite this, the now college-aged Benjamin would accept one of his father's old costumes, one that Felicia had given Peter not long after the symbiote incident, telling him it was his now, and Benjamin would begin to fight crime as the Dark Spider, with occasional appearances as Ricochet, though in more of a way so as to infiltrate criminal organizations, and still act as a member of the Thieve's Guild.
Abilities and Skills -Burglary: Ben's a capable cat burglar, able to move stealthily, pick locks, crack safes, disarm security systems, and perform some lower-end hacking. He's also able to escape from many situations, and disguise himself effectively. -Acrobatics: Taught initially by his mother, as a means of mitigating his frustration at school, Benjamin's acrobatic skill became significant enough that he won first place among pre-teens in New York several times, before retiring after his mutation manifested. This is enhanced further by his mutation to allow Ricochet to achieve seemingly-impossible feats of agility. -Gymnastics: Another skill picked up through his mother, Benjamin developed this skill to the point of fanaticism. As much as he was a skilled acrobat, it was joked that he may someday become an Olympic-level Gymnast. However, his powers cause him to supercede the human limits, disabling from from fairly competing. -Martial Arts: Through training from Drake, Benjamin has become a capable hand-to-hand combatant. Learning several styles, he developed his own means of fighting that makes the maximum use of his powers to overwhelm a foe. -Intelligence: Naturally keen of mind and intelligence, Benjamin has little interest in academics or technology. He quickly picks up new concepts and takes this for granted.
Superhuman Powers and Abilities -Tychokinesis: Much in the same fashion as Black Cat, Benjamin is able to passively manipulate probability fields around himself to cause misfortune and other bad things to become more likely to occur. Those who Ben feels enmity towards are more likely to be effected, but after taking on the identity of Black Spider, Benji displays a greater degree of proficiency with the power, able to exclude and targets these fields towards specific individuals. These tychons which he has manipulated are visibly indicated by his current costume. -Spider Physiology: Pound for pound, Benjamin’s spider powers are identical to his father’s. This makes him more or less an analogue to his father in many ways, in terms of performance, which further gives him a superiority complex to his siblings, who might come out short in some areas compared to their father, while superior in others.
Equipment -Ricochet Discs: Fixed to the arms of his jacket, these discs are edged and can double as weapons, able to bounce off of surfaces and bodies without losing momentum, due to being crafted from vibranium. -Web Shooters: Given to him by Peter Parker, these are a current set, with the same bells and whistles of the current spider heroes’s shooters.

Spider-Man
Spider-Man Real Name: Peter Benjamin Parker Born: August 6th, 1995.                                       History: Peter Parker was born to Richard and Mary Parker in Queens, New York. Peter's mother was friends with Emily Osborn and Peter and her son, Norman became best friends. Richard and Mary, unbeknownst to their son, were spies working for the CIA, so they were abroad a lot of the time, leaving Peter in the care of Richards brother, Ben and his wife, May. When Peter was six, his parents were killed in one of the planes involved in the 9/11 attacks, causing Peter to be raised by his uncle Ben and Aunt May. When Peter started at Midtown High School, he and Harry befriended Gwen Stacey, daughter of NYPD Captain George Stacey. Peter instantly developed a crush on Gwen but kept it hidden out of fear it would ruin their friendship. Peter, who was shy and nerdy, was targeted by bully, Flash Thompson. Peter was also a budding scientist, who aspired to be like Norman Osborn, his best friends dad and a famous scientist and businessman. When Peter was 14, he went on a school trip to an Oscorp laboratory, where Peter, distracted whilst looking at some of his pretty classmates, was bitten by a radioactive spider that had escaped its containment cell. Peter instantly fainted and was rushed to the hospital, only to be released a few days later with nothing but a spider bite mark. Peter awoke a few days later to discover he had superpowers and, after telling his friends about his powers and overhearing about his Aunt and Uncle's financial problems, made himself a costume and entered a wrestling contest that had a large payout if won and had many of his classmates in attendance. Peter, calling himself The Human-Spider in reference to his powers, was put up against Max 'Grizzly' Markham and won easily but got ripped off by the wrestling promoter. As Peter was leaving, still angry at getting ripped off, he saw a man robbing the promoter but let him go in revenge. He would later regret this, as when he left the building, he discovered his Uncle Ben, who was suspicious of where Peter was going, had been shot by the robber and killed. Feeling guilty, Peter told his friends about how he had inadvertently caused his uncle's death, Harry and Gwen comforted him. Inspired by his uncle's last words to him, "With great power, comes great responsibility", Peter decided to become a super-hero, naming himself Spider-Man and creating a costume with the help of his friends, who also helped him to fight crime. Spider-Man started to take out low-level criminals and became an internet and New York sensation. Spider-Man attempted to get Gwen's father George to be his police contact but Captain Stacey rejected him as he doesn't think Spider-Man was healthy for the city. Instead, Spider-Man was contacted by NYPD Detective, Jean DeWolff, who agreed to help Spider-Man fight crime. Peter, as Spider-Man, started to target the criminal organisation run by Wilson Fisk, AKA The Kingpin but was often distracted by the arrival of superpowered criminals, primarily The Green Goblin. When Peter turned sixteen, he got a job as a photographer for The Daily Bugle with his classmate Ned Leeds. The Daily Bugle was an online newspaper and podcast and Peter worked for J. Jonah Jameson, who was openly against Spider-Man. Peter finally gained the confidence to ask Gwen to prom, to which she said yes. They went to prom together and kissed but they decided to stay friends. Not long after, Gwen was kidnapped by The Green Goblin and thrown from the Brooklyn Bridge, although Spider-Man caught her, she got whiplashed and her spine broke, paralysing her. Spider-Man, however, believed Gwen had died at first and engaged in a violent battle with the Green Goblin until he was killed by his own goblin glider and unmasked himself as, Norman Osborn. Gwen was designated to a wheelchair but forgave Peter for not being able to save her in time. Eventually, Peter, Harry and Gwen graduated Midtown High and entered Empire State University, where Peter got a job as a pizza delivery guy and gained an internship with Dr Otto Octavius, although he later turned into the villain, Doctor Octopus. Peter, as Spider-Man, also helped DeWolff and George Stacey to arrest Wilson Fisk, but George was killed and Peter, MJ and Harry comforted Gwen after her fathers lost. During this time, Aunt May reconnected with her childhood friend, Anna Watson, who was also a spinster like May had become. Anna and May set Peter up with Anna's niece, Mary Jane on a blind date. The date went well, with Peter and Mary Jane finding out they went to the same university and the two started dating, seriously. After graduating from Empire State, Peter and Harry decided to start their own company, called Parker Industries with Harry as C.E.O, as to allow Peter to continue being Spider-Man. Harry and Peter used Peter's blood to cue Gwen of her paralysis, which worked but gave Gwen spider-powers of her own, with her becoming Spider-Girl. Peter gained many allies, mainly ones with similar powers to himself. When Norman Osborn returned and became The Goblin King, starting the Goblin War and unmasking Peter as Spider-Man, Peter was left defeated but returned to beat Osborn, who blew himself up to try and kill Peter. Madam Web, an elderly ally of Peter's used her powers to erase peoples knowledge that Peter was Spider-Man, although it cost her, her life. After the Goblin War, when he turned 30, he finally decided to retire being Spider-Man, passing the mantle to his clone, Ben Reilly. Peter married Mary Jane and had two children with her: Benjamin 'Benji' Richard and Mary 'Mayday' Mary Parker. Peter and Harry, now married to Gwen ran Parker Industries together, making it into a billion-dollar company and tech aid to the 'Spidey-Team'.
This is me basically getting everything I like about Spider-Man and making my own Universe. Hope you enjoy. All that Marvel copycat stuff as well (But that doesn’t matter).

yes, it is i, your local mess. back with none other than my child ace zhu. as always i’m a mess with intros and i’m just ?? excited to have my lil bab back pls. his STATS page is there, and i have some PLOT ideas --- but otherwise, if you want to plot give me a lil heart ?? or hit me up on d*scord ( STAN PARKER#8932 ). MENTIONS OF FAMILY DEATH,  ATTEMPTED SEXUAL ASSAULT, VICTIM BLAMING, AND ABUSE ( MENTAL, PHYSICAL ), UNDER THE CUT !!
PERSONALITY.
personality wise, as is one of the brightest kids you will ever meet. ever since birth ( or so his mother would say ), the boy has had a genuine grin on his lips. blessed with optimism and an idealistic view of the world, it’s honestly no wonder he’s earned himself the label of the quixotic.
ace has always had a romanticized idea of the world around him ( his parents were the most in love, his siblings gave him the best they could give, his school was the best one around, etc, there was always a naive optimistic view behind everything with him ).
it’s likely not shocking that he falls in love with anyone that will give him attention and or affection. although he lacks romantic experience, ( though there were romances here and there — plot idea(s), wink wonk ), he’s kind of … obsessed with the idea of romance, the feeling of being in love, and all things surrounding the very concept of love.
the moST AFFECTIONATE PERSON EVER. need a hug ?? ace is there. don’t need one ?? he’s still there. loves affection so much, whether giving or receiving; loves skinship and just ?? closeness. what a Nerd.
his heart is eight sizes too big for his body ?? he’s blatantly optimistic and idealistic about everything for the sake of everyone around him. he’s always worrying for others, always asking if they’ve eaten, if they’re feeling okay, and just being altruistic above all?? he really just wants to be a positive source for anyone he can but it can just get  …annoying sometimes ( or so he’s been told ), so oftentimes he has to hold himself back.
he talks so much, about everything and anything. boy has like zero filter somtimes and it even frustrates him at times. he just gets nervous often, and his mouth’s first reaction is to just ramble on about pointless things. before you know it he’ll tell you all about snail hibernation.
korean is a constant work in progress for him. he can speak and understand it almost fluently, but sometimes someone will speak and his brain just like … stops functioning?? but as i said before, the kid talks and asks a lot of questions so if he doesn’t understand what someone is saying he’ll make you talk around it until you’re both on the same page
he is quite confident of the fact that he is both pan romantic & sexual.
small excited puppy that just wants love, honestly.
CHILDHOOD.
ace zhu was born in a small US town in upstate new york, in a town called new paltz. he also has two older siblings; there’s a seven year gap between him and his older sister mei, and ten years between him and his brother, benjamin. ( aka benji ).
his chinese name is jieming but his english name is jason. he went by jace a lot growing up, but in middle school he dropped the j and began to prefer ace over jason and jace bc ?? one kid called him ‘ the ace ’ when he was playing baseball and he was like … oh ym god. ( a Nerd ).
i won’t lie, he had a rather comfortable childhood. his parents loved him as much as they loved each other, and although they were much older, his siblings loved him too. and there were never any money problems he was aware of ( being a rose colored glasses kid will do that, ig ). it’s also likely that he was bullied in elementary school, but such things used to go way over his head as a younger kid.
he has always wanted to be a dancer, and probably always will, (  there was that baseball dream there for awhile but he quickly learned in high school kids his size don’t get scouted unless they’re the best of the best, so that dream kinda blew away ). but it wasn’t until he was 11 that he started taking lessons.
it wasn’t until late spring when he was thirteen that things got complicated; his father was hospitalized after a severe stroke, a fact that he didn’t know about right away — his mother claiming that she didn’t want him worrying about something like that when everything would be okay. being the gullible boy he was, he believed it then.
but after a few weeks of his dad being in the hospital he knew something was up; his brother came home and stayed, began working odd jobs on top of the successful one he landed out of college, and helped way more than he ever did when he lived with them. when ace finally asked him about his reason for being home, benji told him everything.
his father wasn’t in good shape, and his mother was barely holding onto the hope that everything would be okay. there were financial problems that she couldn’t take care of, and benji decided to step in himself. this broke thirteen year old ace’s heart, of course. all he wanted to do from then on was help his family.
so he prompted himself to that summer. any job that would hire a thirteen year old, he was after. dropped his dance classes, started dog walking, babysitting, house sitting, lawn mowing, you name it. it wasn’t much, but he wanted to help.
his father also passed away that summer, a few weeks before ace started high school. he quit baseball shortly after, as the sport was something they shared and he didn’t think he was good enough to go further with it anyways.
he was a sophomore in high school when he was scouted by a south korean entertainment company for the first time. shortly after seeing his potential of talent with dance, they talked him into the idea of becoming an idol in korea, which prompted him to want to audition.
it took convincing his mom for weeks, but she finally said okay after benji had told her it was a once in a lifetime opportunity
so off to seoul he went at age fifteen !! to be a trainee !! fr nearly 3 years !!
TRAINEE DAYS ( first time around )
although he had no prior korean, and he pushed himself hard to learn the new language, he oftentimes found himself sticking around the other english-speaking trainees. at least when he first came to korea.
after about a year or so, he managed to stick out like a sore thumb to some senior of his. and they’d soon taken him under their wing in a way. he was propped up above a bunch of other trainees in his group because this one higher up favored him; given spotlight dances, suggested to directors and managers because they had connections, all because they wanted to see ace happy. or so it seemed. it didn’t make him too many friends.
and although it was a bit lonely, he still had people that he called friends, and a senior that adored him, right ? it was no wonder ace had started to admire with this senior of his above most people he knew at the time.
ooooh boy, bad idea.
one of their encounters had gone a way ace had never expected — or wanted. they were kissing him and touching him in a way he had never wanted. not any off it. he somehow got himself out, explicitly saying just how much the encounter was notwanted, and ran away.
the next day at practice wasn’t a nice one.
or the next day after that
this senior seemed to be after only one thing with ace; and after such advances were denied by the dancer, they became harsher and harsher on ace by the day. no more spotlight dances, and the beginnings of mentions of him being worthless and wasting his time because he didn’t have any real talent. and ace, being impressionable at the time, and extremely homesick, believed them.
then they began to hit him. just once or twice a day over stupid things, but it became gradual over a few weeks. he’d come to practice with markings  he couldn’t explain; or didn’t want too, because he was still in the belief that this senior was a good person, and it was somehow his fault.
he ended up quitting shortly after that ( not soon enough ), with the urging of a friend that had witnessed said abuse ace was enduring, and maybe noticed a change in his demeanor. ( he was more sad than he had ever been and it showed — even more so than he allowed when his father passed on ) — plot idea ?
after he quit, when he was barely eighteen there was a LONG search for somewhere to live. he couldn’t afford a place of his own and no one wanted a kid who couldn’t afford rent for a few months to be their roommate; until he came across jeaki. the two have been living together ever since.
although being a trainee didn’t work out the way he had hoped, and he was internally more sad than he had ever been during his last months of being one, he’s never let go of his kind and benevolent nature. one thing he promised himself when he came to korea was that he wouldn’t change. and for the most part, he hasn’t.
he still hasn’t exactly come to terms with the abuse he endured. because he feels so many others have had it worse, and he was lucky that he had gotten out of that situation. he doesn’t want to confront how it’s scarred him, because it undoubtedly has.
RECENTLY
after about a year and a half of working as a dance instructor ( teaching mostly kids and elderly ), he has fallen back into trainee life by chance thanks to the parents of one of his students. while it was a really hard decision to make, to go back into everything or not, he’s decided he wants to go after his dream.
though the company he’s apart of now is on a much smaller scale than the first. ( think fantagio, maybe even smaller than that ), and he believes it’s a better fit this time around even though he’s working just as hard as he was before, if not harder.
overworks himself ? falls asleep in the studio more than he does in his own bed. he just needs a nap and some food, and to take out his contacts before he goes blind from sleeping in them.

+ Butterflies still making themselves known inside her STOMACH, Mayday felt a bit more at ease once she caught SIGHT not only of Annie and the rest of the Parker clan waiting for their entrance, but also when she caught sight of Andi. God, she looked just as AMAZING as she’d imagined she would be . Smiling back at her love, she winked in her direction before she and Peter fell into step. Annie had DEFINITELY put enough time and energy into her role at rehearsal, and it showed in how well she’d done her part.
Tumblr media
As if she didn’t have enough reasons to be all SMILES, she saw, or rather HEARD, the excitement from Benjy as he caught sight of both herself and Andi. Her eyes scanned the room, feeling a healthy dose of heat flourishing in her cheeks at the amount of EYES on the four of them . The assortment of beings inside the room was almost enough to make one feel completely overwhelmed . Even April had made an appearance, although it definitely seemed she hadn’t DRESSED for the occasion .
Reaching the center point of the entire room, May SMILED as she received one more kiss on the cheek from Peter, before he moved off to take his place off to the side. He gave a KNOWING smile and nod to both Flash and Andi in the process . Turning to face Andi, she smiled brightly, unable to stop even if she had WANTED to .
She was... honestly surprised April came, especially after their last few encounters, but it was nice that April came at all, even if she clearly hadn’t dressed for the occasion. And was that Ashley Barton next to her? Oh no, that couldn’t be good.
Tumblr media
It was weird though, she was so nervous before, so sure she was going to mess this up somehow. She and Mayday had been anxious and excited for this day for so long, Andi wanted it to be perfect for Mayday. From the moment she woke up this morning, she dreaded some kind of disaster, and yet, the moment she saw Mayday in that dress, all the anxiety vanished, Andi straightened her back, held her head high, shot her soon-to-be wife a smile she showed to very few people. She walked more confidently down the aisle, next to Mayday while being escorted by her mentor and father figure.
Flash gave Andi a quick pat on her shoulder before joining Peter off to the side, and the music began to die down as the minister began to address the crowd and the two girls about to be married. Andi began to fish through her pocket for the cards she’d written her vows onto only to realize her pockets were empty! Oh no!
She’d have to wing this!

May “Mayday” Parker is the child of Peter and Mary Jane Parker in a future, alternate universe continuity. In the MC2 continuity, they were reunited with their baby daughter by Kaine, who found the child living with Alison Mongraine, the con artist who had kidnapped the baby on instruction from the Green Goblin. After they were reunited, Peter lost a leg during the horrific final conflict with the Green Goblin. After the battle Peter was offered a bionic replacement from Mister Fantastic but, considering it a wake-up call, decided to retire and focus on being a husband and father (the battle is glimpsed in Spider Girl #7, and fully explained in Spider Girl #49). For years, they chose to keep their past from May and hoped that she wouldn’t develop powers of her own.[volume & issue needed]
Despite her parents’ hopes, May began developing versions of her father’s spider-powers when she was 15. At the same time, Normie Osborn, grandson of the original Green Goblin, set out to restore the family name. May donned Ben Reilly’s Spider-Man costume to stop him and soon took to crime-fighting, at first hindered, then helped, by her worried parents.[volume & issue needed]
May shares traits of both of her parents. Like her mother, she is a beautiful, charismatic, and a popular student, and she is intelligent and bright, just like her father. She also inherited his love for in-fight bantering. In addition, she is a very good athlete and excelled in her girls’ basketball team until she quit, after her powers emerged. On the one hand, May seems to have inherited the “Parker luck” in which her dual identity wreaks havoc in her private life. On the other hand, her superhero career, unlike her father’s, begins with her successfully protecting her family. From the early part of her career onwards, Spider-Girl has developed a reputation for avoiding unnecessary battles and reforming her former adversaries, like Normie Osborn and Raptor. Spider-Girl quickly establishes herself in the superheroic community, gaining reserve status in the Avengers and allies in the New Warriors and Fantastic Five.[volume & issue needed]
In The Amazing Spider-Girl, May promises to give up costumed super heroics, dates Eugene Thompson, and runs for student council. When Mary Jane becomes aware that the Hobgoblin poses a threat to her daughter’s teenage friends, she allows May to resume her activities as Spider-Girl (a situation they wanted to keep secret from Peter). After a battle with the Hobgoblin, May tells her father the truth, and after a conversation with Mary Jane, they allowed May to resume her Spider-Girl identity.[volume & issue needed]
After an attempt at helping the S.H.I.E.L.D. government agency, a case filled with a piece of the Carnage symbiote was released. It attaches itself to May’s friend Moose, who becomes the new Carnage. In exchange, Carnage will bond itself to Moose’s terminally ill father, curing him in the process. Carnage causes a stir at May’s school and kidnaps Peter and Baby Ben, forcing May to confront her friend. May tries to talk to Moose within the symbiote but fails, and it bonds with her brother Ben. Peter escapes as May battles the two symbiotes and gathers sonic gear that may be able to defeat the symbiote. However it is May who uses the weapons, thereby destroying the piece of the Carnage symbiote. Her success is not without a measure of collateral damage: not only is Moose furious at Spider-Girl for dooming his father, but the sonic weapon renders Ben deaf.[5]
Ben’s hearing is eventually restored thanks to the intervention of Normie Osborn. Normie later stumbles on one of Norman Osborn’s former labs, and discovers a fluid tank containing what appears to be a physical duplicate of May Parker. Notes left behind by his grandfather indicate that this Mayday is the original he kidnapped years ago, hinting that the Mayday raised by Peter and MJ is yet another clone.[6]
Fury the Goblin Queen begins acting out the Green Goblin’s final gambit against Peter Parker. While kidnapping the retired Spider-Man, Fury also activates a signal that awakens the unconscious girl within the Osborn labs’ tank. The changeling escapes, confronting Mayday on the roof of her high school just as she is changing into Spider-Girl. The two briefly battle before being caught in an explosion. A critically injured May is rescued from the debris by Araña’s forces. Araña, realizing that May might not survive her ordeal, offers to merge with her. However, she intervenes in a vision quest that Mayday is undergoing. By aiding her overcome a force she was meant to overcome alone, she obstructs Spider-Girl from uncovering whether or not she is the true May. Araña also has an ulterior motive: by assuming the body and power of Spider-Girl she hopes to take the Black Tarantula, an adversary and former lover, by surprise and defeat him. Araña successfully completes the merger and temporarily assumes control of May’s body, leaving May and a third, blond woman who shares her name (later revealed to be the spirit of Aunt May) trapped within Araña’s body.[7]
Meanwhile, the changeling emerges from the blast relatively unharmed and attempts to resume May’s life. However, her presence deeply disturbs Benjy. She later receives a call from Normie, telling her about the capture of Peter Parker, leading the changeling into taking on the role of Spider-Girl.[8]
The two women are restored to their rightful bodies while in battle with others. May, in Araña’s body, runs into the changeling just as Araña, in May’s body, enters the lair of the Black Tarantula. The Black Tarantula is able to see through Araña’s trick and nearly knocks her unconscious, just as May, in Araña’s body, is knocked unconscious as well, leading the two of them to recover their original bodies.[9]
Normie Osborne, along with Kaine, Phil Urich (in his Green Goblin Costume), Darkdevil, and Raptor, try to rescue Peter Parker from Fury’s hands, unaware of the fact that Peter has absorbed the mind and memories of the original Norman Osborn. This leads to a fight between the assembled heroes and Peter, now possessed by the Green Goblin. May arrives just as Peter/Green Goblin reunites with the changeling, who is revealed to have been genetically spliced with the DNA of the Venom symbiote, giving her similar metamorphic powers displayed by Spidercide, but without the need for a host like normal symbiotes.[10]
Bonding with his “daughter” (and, unintentionally, Spider-Girl), the possessed Peter declares himself as “The Goblin God” and begins to go on a rampage, while May finds herself trapped within her father’s mental psyche. With the aid of the spiritual influence of her Great Aunt May Parker, as well as flashbacks to the day she healed Normie Osborn’s psychological scars, Mayday and Peter are able to overcome Norman in a psychic duel and convince the Brand New May that May is a good person. Norman is seemingly defeated, but not before he denies Mayday the chance to discover whenever or not she is the true daughter of Peter and Mary Jane, or the clone. Mary Jane is rescued from near-death by Benjy, who reveals he has developed organic webbing.[11]
With the Brand New May uncertain of her place, May proposes she become a member of the Parker family; Mary Jane agrees, though Peter distrusts her and objects to the idea. May takes a walk, reflecting on how her parents, baby brother, and potential new twin sister have overcome so much and truly become “An Amazing Spider-Man Family”.[12]
The following storyline sees Mayday and her clone (now named April) begin to steadily grow as crime-fighting partners, with April proving at times to be unstable and far more intense and ruthless than her “cousin” Mayday. At one point, April murders Tombstone when she believes him to have murdered May.[13]
In the meantime, whilst trying to control the rising gang warfare in New York City as well as keep her unruly cousin in line with both her temper and powers, Mayday’s relationship with comic book artist and friend Wesley begins to blossom into a deeper bond, and Wes at times demonstrates hints that he knows May’s identity. April briefly attempts to play mischievous match-maker with the pair by posing as May, but Wes sees through her deception. April eventually takes on the name “Mayhem” and embraces her symbiotic, intense, no-nonsense nature and cuts herself off from The Parker family to pursue a life as a vigilante who answers to no one.[14]
The Spectacular Spider-Girl title concludes with May sacrificing herself to save April’s life. However, in the far future, a future incarnation of April uses Doctor Doom’s time machine to return to the present and convince her past self to act responsibly, she does and saves Mayday’s life at the cost of her own and at the cost of the future that came to be. May is later united with Wes, who reveals that he does indeed know May’s true identity and they kiss, beginning a relationship.

Peter’s Childhood & Spider-Man Origin FINAL CHAPTER (MCU Edition/Personal Canons)
With  Great  Power  Comes  Great ______
This check was not just slightly less than commercialized. It’s just one-quarter away from a measly grand. Peter was optimistic that his skills would win him at least most of the money amount that was promoted on the fight show flyers just a week ago.
“Seven-hun and fifty?  I can’t even buy a flat screen with this, you cheapskate!”  The flyer said $5,000 for five minutes in the ring with the opponent. Peter made one minimum wage, forty hour labor paying check as opposed to cold hard Benjis in a small briefcase.
“HEY,” shouted the promoter, “I gotta reputation to hold up, and a sponsor who’s demandin’ a bigger cut now that a ‘Spiduh-Mane’ just hospitalized one of his favorite wrestlas.” Later on, this mysterious fan would be revealed to Wilson Fisk, a man behind bars for a crime elsewhere in the city, but with a still loyal organization doing his bidding here and there.
“Ya good, kid, but you oughta stick aroun’ in dis gig a li’l longer, learn the ropes with someone better experienced than Blacky. Hit the lockers and get the hell outta my face before I call security, punk!”
As he leaves the office, a man in a ski mask is rushing past rent-a-cops in the hall. The mugger’s cardio outdoes the police, who can’t immediately put him down without starting a scene. The masked robber is now in the office of the entertainment center, holding the manager at gunpoint of course, for all the money in the vault below his desk.
“Aren’t you gonna help that guy, Mistah Winner?”  teased one of the officers who is totally capable of handling the situation.
“Someone needs to jip that asshole to let him know how it feels.” said Peter, distraught about his low pay for a mostly fair fight.
Peter swings home, but is halted by an unusual sight in the Forest Hills neighborhood. A coroner vehicle, ambulances, all necessary first response vehicles in front of his home, and May a sobbing mess as she’s being consoled by a police officer. It’s just dark out, but the lights will shine on the red and blue fighter trying to make his way home from above the neighborhood rooftops.
Perched on an oak tree in the corner of the street, Peter takes off his hoodie and mask, a normal t-shirt under his suit that won’t give off the vibe of him having done daring deeds or fought someone three-quarters the size of the Hulk. He gets back to ground level, his suit in his school bag, as he tries to walk as calmly as possible back to his house.
“May, what happened?” he asked, heavy concern riddling his mug.
She is bawling too hard to speak, and simply grabs Peter and embraces him, as his father figure, Uncle Ben, is being dragged out of the Parker home, lifeless, blood drenching the left chest of his shirt and jacket. Ben’s mouth was open, but not to form words, just his final expression before meeting his end by a few bullets shot in his chest.
May told Peter the mugger needed a getaway car. Ben had a fuel efficient Camry with great gas mileage, and it was a few months new for him then. There was no way he’d allow someone to make Swiss cheese out of his affordable means of work commute. The mugger threatened both Ben and May, May hiding out in a locked bedroom while Ben tried to calm the man. But the mugger said he wasn’t having any run-around shit from the elders he was threatening. Two shots at the uncle’s left pectoral, and Ben is falling to the kitchen floor. His keys in the opposite breast pocket of his jacket, the mugger steals them and takes off.
It’s after an engine revs that May leaves the bedroom, believing Ben had tried to get away, or that perhaps a neighbor had dialed dispatch. She screams in agony at what she finds in her kitchen.
And Peter’s world shattered just the same as he realizes he was not there to help. And that would be the final time he’d ever be unavailable to help.
“What does the sketch make of him?” he asked a detective sternly, as the cops were made aware of Ben’s license plate number early on, but weren’t immediately going to chase after the killer on the run.
That same detective gave him the description, and soon enough a fellow officer radio’d in that they found the suspect at a warehouse in Brooklyn. It was time for Spider-Man to pay him a belated visit.
“Could ya pick somewhere less cliche to hide?” he asks the mugger, finally at his hideout.
“WHO’S THERE??!” asked the man, firing bullets to warn anyone intruding on him. Peter swooped down from a nearby wall in the shadows, letting himself be seen through a small shine of city light through the window.
“You’re that punk from the fight earlier,” the mugger deduced that much. Peter was unaware of who the man was.
“You’re the coward who took my old man’s life tonight.” Peter yanked the gun from the killer’s hand, and practically flew toward him with a swift kick to his cheek.
He picks up the mugger and pushes him through a window, shooting a web to catch his fall, and then slowly reeling him in like a fish. “...you... you’re the robber from the arena.”
Heavily breathing, he considers dropping the thug, but he brings him back into the room. “I suggest you run far away from Queens. Don’t ever show your face where I can see you again. And maybe answer to the squad cars five stories below us.” Peter’s voice remained gravelly and stern. At this point, fire and rescue arrived just to prop a ladder far up enough to get the perp down and cuff him.
Peter realizes this is not easy to cope with, barely fifteen now and losing another father. It’s like the world planned to make him happy for so long just to take such beautiful things from him too soon. But there’s no escaping, either, the guilt that follows for refusing to do the right thing. Tonight would be his only surrender to evil of man.
