   Tails had made a major mistake in dodging the Wolf Triplets by ditching his pants. He had to double down on the scent blocker cologne. He was hoping that their hunt for him would calm down. After drinking a lot of water, his heat returned to normal, but the guys who knew about his secret seemed to only double down on him.

   "Oh god," Tails whimpered as Shadow was just in a towel brushing his teeth. He had just taken a really hot shower, so the steam in the room was carrying his alpha scent.

   "You know... I shouldn't take my rut inhibitor just because you brought it on me," Shadow said, and Tails stamped to his sink and brushed his teeth, annoyed. "Wider," Shadow said, and Tails instinctively opened his mouth wider.

   "Hey! Don't do that!" Tails shook his head back into reality and lightly slapped Shadow's arm. Shadow's husky laugh was so intoxicating it sent shivers down his spine. 

   "I could barely hold back before," Shadow said, walking and backing Tails against the wall. He pressed his arm against the wall and leaned closer to Tails's face. But... now I don't know what I am capable of... you are driving me nuts, Tails," Shadow said, whispering in Tails's ear before lightly nipping at it.

   "Shadow..." Tails moaned, and Shadow chuckled before letting Tails free and walking into the dorm room to change clothes, leaving Tails flustered and panting out of lust. "Damnit, Shadow," Tails muttered as he changed his underwear and doubled his scent-blocking fragrance.

   "I looked up what that chest thing you wear was," Shadow said, and Tails gulped, glaring at him, then bashfully looking away as Shadow dropped the towel.

   "So..."

   "So... You are intersex?" Shadow asked, and Tails didn't answer. Which made the hedgehog bite his lip, "Fuck... You know you're driving me crazy, aren't you, fox..."

   "Y-Youre scaring me," Tail squeaked as he looked in the mirror. Shadow was cornering in on him... he could see the bulge of Shadow's dick under the towel.

   "I am not trying to scare you... Fox," Shadow bent down and whispered in Tails' ear, visibly affecting Tails. The little fox fluttered his long eyelashes. You could smell he was slicking up from his ass and pussy along with pre-cumming... you could even see it through his shorts. "Are you afraid of me?" He said, inching closer to the fox's ear. It might be ideal to hide out until your heat subsides or until you get another doctors appointment."

   "No," Tails quickly shook his head, "I-I have never missed a day of school in my entire life, plus I have nowhere to go. I never want to be in the same room as my mom again," Tails, with the help of Silver, has gotten to think about what happened in the summer, and he has a healthy anger toward her... She scarred him for life, getting the abortion, and he thought about it every day.

   "Tails? Where did you go?" Shadow snapped his fingers in his face, returning him from his mind. "What is more important to you, keeping your perfect attendance or the Wolf triplets out of your fur?"

   Tails sighed and looked down... which was a bad idea because he saw Shadow's hard cock as it clung to the wet towel... and how muscular his thighs were. "I... I still don't have anywhere to go,"

   "Uh, yeah, you do... My Manor," Shadow raised an eyebrow as if it were obvious, and Tails widened his eyes.

   "You are in danger here, Tails. You can't go to classes until your heat is up," Shadow looked like Sonic when he was worried and adamant about something to Tails. "The Wolf Triplets are pigs... they will rip you apart like they did with Beatrice Green, and she wasn't even an omega,"

   "T-That was them?" Tails squeaked. He remembered when it happened. The first person to find Beatrice in the quad had to go to therapy, and Beatrice had dropped out of school and was in a wheelchair.

   "Yeah, we should get you to the manor. I can probably take you there and get back to you... I'll text Espio to get you a doctor's excuse,"

   "B-But my friends... they will be worried," Tails looked down at his feet.

   "C-mon, I will deal with everything..."

   Knuckles was out on the field practicing some drills with Scourge, and Silver was running around the trace with Espio, just killing time for classes to start in another 30 minutes. It was a cold day in hell, and Shadow would willingly go to the football field. Usually, he would rest in bed before classes started or ride on his motorcycle.

   "Is that Shadow?" Scourge raised an eyebrow, missing the ball so it hit him in the face. Knuckles would have apologized if he hadn't heard what he said.

   "Espio," Shadow said, walking to the track and calling the Chameleon's name so he didn't have to chase after him.

   "Oh, Hey, Shads," Espio smiled, walking up to him. Shadow held out his hand for Espio to give him the papers. "Rings up first, bud," Espio winked, and Shadow rolled his eyes, pulling out his wallet and shoving a couple of hundred bucks at Espio's chest. "Ah, here you go, bud. Tell Tails to raise hell,"

   "Tails? What's going on with him?" Silver tilted his head, worried. Shadow looked at Silver and across the field to Knuckles before nodding them to follow him away from prying ears. "Shadow, Is he okay?"

   "What? Is something wrong with Tails?" Knuckles widened his eyes, and Shadow rolled his eyes as if he hadn't even gotten a chance to talk.

   "Look, you guys are the only people who know that Tails is an omega," Shadow said, and both flinched.

   "Wait? You know?" Knuckles raised an eyebrow.

   "Wait... you are fucking Tails?" Silver clenched his fists together, getting fighting mad.

   "Youre fucking Tails?" Knuckle gasped, "Dude..." Knuckles held up a hand for Silver to high-five. "I have beat off every night to the scent of my little guy," Knuckles said before freezing and looking over to Shadow. "Are you fucking Tails?" He asked as he took in Shadow, taking entertainment in Silver about to deck the shit out of the echidna.

   "Shut the fuck up, both of you," Shadow said, about to yawn, "Silver and Tails have been seeing each other all summer, and Knuckles saved Tails from the Wolf Triplets the other day," Shadow explained.

   "Shit..." Silver palmed his head, "I knew I should have walked him home, I knew he was about to hit his heat."

   "Just shut the fuck up and let me finish, Douche Nozzles," Shadow snapped and pinched the bridge of his nose, "I just entered my rut, and I got drunk on Tails' scent... that meant that anyone could smell his scent since he is careful about his scent. I have him at the Manor until his heat subsides,"

   "Oh wow..." Silver said, calming down, knowing that Tails was safe.

   "Tails is right... you have changed. You're not that bad after all," Knuckles said, and Shadow huffed.

   "Yeah, and I will fucking kill you if you let anyone know," Shadow snapped, "You can't visit Tails at my house because you are idiots and oafs that will break everything... but I will let you on Ghost Hill to visit Tails. Silver needs help to get through his heat. You can use my RV,"

   "Woah... I want to fuck Tails, too," Knuckles whined.

   "Over my dead body," Silver muttered, crossing his arms and tilting his head at Shadow. "Thanks, Shadow. We will make up something to tell the others."

   "I'm going to run by the office and give these forged doctor's notes to Tails," Shadow said, nodding for Knuckles to go. "Silver, what are you and Tails?" Shadow raised an eyebrow.

   "Hmm?" Silver asked, confused.

   "You looked like you were about to jump Knuckles with the mere thought he was fucking Tails too,"

   "No-No, you got it all wrong, dude," Silver played it off, "Tails' and I are just friends,"

   "No, I think you have it wrong," Shadow said intensely, not even trying to hide his feelings or being uninterested. "You need to get your feelings in order and communicate them with Tails, for his sake. He is going through something, I don't know what... but he doesn't need your shit to fuck with his emotions even more," Shadow said, and Silver blinked as Shadow stormed off... leaving him alone to think.

Longclaw Courtyard, Mobius City, Mystic Heights

   "Oh, you guys are finally talking again?" Amy and Sonic approached Tails and Silver as they exited the courtyard. Silver had told a joke about Dr. Robotnik messing up 70% of the projects he was working on, and Tails was laughing his ass off. He hadn't laughed long, mostly because Robotnik was a strange teacher.

   "Buddy," Sonic was so happy when he saw Tails not frowning or crying. If it were anyone else, Sonic wouldn't have noticed. It was so out of character for Tails to do anything other than giggle and smile. He pulled him up in a hug and twirled him around.

   "Are you two coming on the couple weekend to Green Hill?" Rouge asked with Knuckles' arm around her waist. Knuckles and Sonic were oblivious to Silver and Tails' sleeping together, but the girls knew otherwise. It was the way that Silver would look at Tails when the fox wasn't looking, the way he touched him so softly and smiled when Tails smiled.

   "They don't have girlfriends, but you guys can still come. I will see if Blaze and Cream want to come along for you two to have company," Sonic said without a second thought.

   "Nana wants me to come for a visit," Silver said, giving Tails a chance to devise his excuse.

   "I'm just going to hang out around here and hopefully start the project with Shadow," He said, and Silver sighed. He was hoping he wouldn't mention Shadow to Sonic.

   "Oh, so what I am hearing is you don't want to hang out with your best friends, and you want to hang out with my mortal enemy?"

   "No, Sonic. I just want to get my project done. You know how important grades are—it is 80% of my overall grade all year."

   "Whatever..." Sonic muttered and ran off.

   "I'm Sorry, Tails. You know how he is about Shadow. I'll talk to him," Amy said before walking off.

   "He'll get over it," Knuckles patted him on the back, and everyone dispersed.

   "Text me when you are in Las Vistas," Tails said, upset again.

   "Don't listen to Sonic. He can be a jerk sometimes. You can focus on getting a good grade on your project. Charmy and I will work on it separately over the weekend," Silver hugged him.

   "Bye, Silver," Tails said before jogging to his dorm. He assumed Shadow would be either sleeping or leaving soon. He was lucky to make it to the dorm right before Shadow left. The Dark Hedgehog was already packed up to go back to Ghost Hill. "Where are you going, Shadow?"

   "Home,"

   "Oh..."

   "Why?" Shadow rolled his eyes.

   "I wanted to start our project," Tails said with big, pleading eyes. He thought they could finish it by the semester's end and get extra credit when they turned it in early.

   "Would..." Shadow closed his eyes and huffed, "Would you like to come to Blackbourne Manor..." Shadow muttered just below a whisper. Tails widened his eyebrows. No one had ever been invited to Shadow's house, but Tails had proved to be respectful of his things and a good roommate.

   "Oh, um, yeah, sure, thank you, Shadow. I need to pack a weekend bag, and I will meet you there,"

   "You have a car?"

   "No, I can fly, remember?"

   "You're tiny and weak, and Ghost Hill is 30 minutes away, plus it's like a mile incline up," Shadow said, looking Tails up and down. He had to be at least 90 pounds and mostly fluff. His tails were so floofy they looked like they would feel like clouds to lay on... that's why Shadow has found himself daydreaming about the fox so much.

   "Shadow, why are you staring at my tails?"

   "Just hurry up and pack your things. You can ride on my motorcycle," Shadow grumbled, "Meet me out in the parking lot,"

   Tails grumbled, he didn't like loud sounds, but Shadow was right. He could only stand to fly for 10 minutes at most. He packed his favorite tools, pajamas and sweats, and the project he had been working on all summer. He almost forgot his pillow. He took it with him everywhere.

   When Tails reached the parking lot, he gulped when he saw his friends packing up Amy's Car. " Are you coming?" Shadow asked, tugging on his biker gloves and tossing a helmet at him.

   "What if I fall off?" Tails asked, scared. Shadow rolled his eyes and hurried back, "Is this safe?" Shadow scooted back and patted for Tails to sit in front of him.

   "Yes," Shadow lied, and Tails was comfortable enough to climb on,"

   "Bye, guys! See you Monday!" Tails waved to his friends, and everyone waved goodbye to him but Sonic. Tails put on his helmet, which was too big for him. Shadow's eye shield was open so he could look back to Sonic, gave him a wink while he revved up the engine, and take off. He succeeded in pissing off Sonic without Tails noticing.

   The helmets were noise canceling, so Tail's didn't have to worry about the loud sounds they would face. They also had Bluetooth speakers to listen to music or talk to each other. Booming in Shadow's ears was the pure joy of Tails. He was giggling and cheering as they were going over 90 mph. The bike could go faster, but Shadow didn't feel like being pulled over or going on a police chase.

   Tails felt like he was doing one of his favorite things. It felt like he was riding a rollercoaster. He held up his hands and almost lost his balance, but just as he was about to be knocked off by the wind, Shadow quickly placed a hand on the Fox Boy's waist to tell him to pay attention and put his hands in the holds under the seat again. Shadow didn't correct his face since his face shield blocked it... but he was smiling.

   "Thank you, Shadow," Tails understood, and he needed to calm down. For the next 30 minutes, Tails took his time looking around and enjoying how fast they were going, "This must be how Sonic feels when he runs," Tails thought out loud, "Sorry..." he said after he heard Shadow growl.

   "Are you hungry?" Shadow said it made tails shiver slightly. Shadow's voice did things to him, especially when it was right in his ears. "We can go by Meh Burger,"

   "I am okay. I want to get there and sketch out a design and blueprint for our project," Tails said, then raised an eyebrow. "Do you not have any food in your house?" Tails asked and was still waiting to get an answer. 

   He hated that he was giving Silver's theory any light, but as he thought about it, he never saw Shadow eat before. If he had just asked, Shadow would have told him that he hadn't gotten the chance to order groceries yet and would order them when they got to the Manor.

   Shadow slowed down as he pulled onto the mountain's winding roads. Tails couldn't wait to get into the house. Ghost Hill was so scary to him and everyone. He was hoping that the Manor wasn't scarier than the outside. Shadow didn't have to worry about thieves because they were too afraid to make it up the mountain without being spooked out.

   Shadow stopped the motorcycle after waiting for the garage door to open. Tails could have managed to step off the motorcycle on his own. It was a bit too tall for him. Shadow lifted him so he could pull his legs to one side and hop off.

   "That was so awesome!" Tails smiled from ear to ear while hopping around excitedly. Then he saw his tail. "Oh wow... I have wind fur," he said, seeing that his tails were tripled in fluff. He started combing his hands through his fur to tame it down, but it was so mesmerizing that Shadow reached down to pet one of the tails before he realized what he was doing. Tails smiled at him disarmingly, but Shadow held back a gulp and tended to his bike.

Just finished watching Sonic 3 and it was awesome!! Haven’t seen anyone written for movie Shadow yet sooo.. 👀

Warnings?: No spoilers for the movie in this! But maybe him being out of character, I haven’t wrote anything in years lol

- I feel like his love languages would be quality time and physical touch, he wouldn’t be used to touch at first but would gradually warm up to it. Definitely wouldn’t be the type to be over the top with public affection. Maybe handholding or a hand on your waist in public, but that’s probably it

- Might would be one to get jealous, needs reassurance that you’re not leaving and that you love him, truly. He’s been through a lot and needs to know that you’re not leaving him too

- Likes looking at the stars with you!! Reminds me of that one meme

“Ya, they’re cool”

- Likes to watch moves with you too! Just please don’t have him watch movies that have ‘aliens’ that are considered bad guys in it :( Just watch cat videos on YouTube with him, he’d be content with that

- Try and show him video games! He’d be really confused on how the controls work, a lot has changed in fifty years

- I feel like he’d like the game Stray, cause cats!! I feel like he absolutely loves cats. Would also probably like Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing. Anything that’s a calm game where you can just do whatever

- Speaking of cats.. he’d love going to a cat cafe with his s/o, would probably want to take them all home afterwards though

- Would end up having a black cat come up to him, rubbing against him and purring. He’d just pick up the cat and ask

“..can we take him home?”

- You can’t say no to Shadow, especially when he’s holding a cat in his hands.. so needless to say, you guys have a new pet now

- But besides cafe dates, just staying at home and cuddling would be perfectly fine with him as a date, anywhere with you, he’s happy

- I feel like he’d genuinely be a really good boyfriend, just takes him time to warm up a bit and get more comfortable with romantic stuff

- And motorcycle rides!! They’d be so fun, but if you get scared if he ever goes too fast, just ask for him to slow down or go a normal speed, he’d probably listen (cause it’s you)

- Gets all blushy and flustered when it comes to physical affection and kisses, he’s not used to it but he loves it

- He’d also like music, specifically older songs. Likes to put vinyls on a record player and dance with you to the song :’)) even if you don’t know how to dance, he’ll try and guide you

summary: as the assistant in training for Stone, you’re tasked with keeping an eye on the black and red haired hedgehog

a/n: just watched sonic 3, I love it so much I immediately wrote this as soon as I got home, please enjoy and go watch it as soon as possible (I LOVE YOU SHADOW AUAGHH)

You watched as Stone left the Crab, running a quick errand so he could finish the suits he was making for Robotnik and his grandfather Gerald. You had a strange feeling about him and you could tell Stone did too but as assistants all you could do was brush it aside.

As Stone left you looked towards your right, Shadow stood near you his eyes staring at where your mentor was standing only moments ago, before his head tilted to glance at you. His eyes scanned you, as you scanned him back, you knew what he was capable of, you were warned but you couldn’t help but keep looking.

Shadow held his gaze on you before he turned away, looking at the television still playing in the background, the telenovela now capturing his attention.

You watched him as he stared ahead. Deciding you had nothing else to do, you sat down on the floor, not daring to get near Dr Robotniks chair, knowing he’d notice if it was moved even a centimeter. A sigh escaped your lips as whatever was going on in the strange show kept going on, you tried to get into it but it felt too generic for you.

“Why are you here,” Was the first thing you’d heard him say. You perked up at his sudden question, this was the first time since you’d met him that shadow had talked to you.

“What?” You asked him, curious as to what he meant.

He looked back at you, no longer paying attention to the show, “I asked why are you here”

You slightly raised a brow still somewhat confused, “Well I’m uh- an apprentice here so it’s like kinda my job?” You shrugged at the hedgehog, slightly raising your arms.

Shadow didn’t seem satisfied with your answer. The room settled into an uncomfortable silence as Shadow continued to just stare at you.

Nervously you glanced around the room, not out of fear but just confusion as to what he even meant.

“Are you alone?”

“What.” You asked, deadpanning at the straightforward question, “Obviously not-“

“No” Shadow cut you off, “Why are you with them?”

You knew who he was referring to, Stone and Robotnik. Obviously they weren’t your parents, it was easy to see from the way they treated you. Stone was kind but he wasn’t very parental, he was more of a teacher. Robotnik was definitely not parental, he was more like a demanding boss who didn’t give his workers equal pay.

“They’re all I have,” you bluntly responded to the hedgehog, as you slowly brought your legs closer to you.

Noticing the uncomfortable feeling you were getting Shadows gaze somewhat fell, maybe it was empathy or something else that you couldn’t quite understand.

Nervously you fiddled with the necklace around your neck, a two little star emblems given to you by your late mother.

Shadows eyes widened, he stepped closer to you trying to get a glimpse at the necklace. You looked up at him, an arm around your legs, the other gripping the necklace tight.

“You like?” You asked him, noticing how his legs uncontrollably moved him closer to you. His gaze was still fixed on it, as if he was remembering, “My mom gave this to me before she passed, she loved the stars, I do too honestly.”

He slowly sat down in front of you, both of you now looking at each other. Slightly noticing his distress you hesitantly took off the necklace, passing it to him so he could get a closer look. You knew he wouldn’t take it, of course you’d just met him but it felt as if you two had known each other before.

The necklace was silver, it was nicely kept; obviously cleaned regularly although it was a bit too small for you by now but that didn’t seem to stop you from wearing it. On it were two stars, one big star and another smaller star, it looked as if they were shining, but one was brighter than the other.

“A light still shines even though the star is gone,” You mumbled looking at the necklace in Shadows hands. His gaze quickly snapped up, his usual angry demeanor faltering to show a small look of shock.

“What?..” Shadow asked, as he looked between you and the necklace.

You laid on your back, your knees up letting out a sigh, “It’s just, you know something I like to say when I think about her,”

Shadow got up from his sitting position, he walked over to your side, handing you the necklace back as he laid down next to you. There were no stars inside the Crab, just a bunch of machine and technology that you truly didn’t understand half of.

There was a comfortable silence now, as you two laid down next to each other; Shadow sighed, for the first time it sounded like he was free, like the demons from his past were no longer attacking his every thought.

He turned his head to look at you, “You remind me of her,”

Snapping out of your trance you looked back at him, eyebrows slightly raised, “Who?” You asked, your tone soft as to not startle him.

His gaze was, soft, no longer angry at the world, maybe at himself, you really couldn’t tell, “Someone I used to know a long time ago,”

You let out a hum of acknowledgment, “She sounds nice,” you said, looking back towards the roof of the contraption.

Shadow still looked at you, you were no Maria, but you made him rethink; that maybe, maybe the world isn’t as bad as he thought it was, maybe there were people worth saving.

“She was.”

Tom: Who’s Rouge?

Sonic: Knuckles’ girlfriend.

Maddie: Knuckles has a girlfriend?!

Knuckles: She’s not my girlfriend.

Tom: How long has this been going on?!

Tails: Four months.

Knuckles: She’s NOT my girlfriend.

Maddie: So let me get this straight, for the last four months Tom and I have been asking you three “what’s new” and none of you thought to tell us that Knuckles has a girlfriend?!
