I know we (rightfully) give Attack of the Clones a lot of grief for Obi-Wan just being able to show up unannounced and for him to just be given the literal biggest state secrets possibly of the entire war, in addition to how this cloning operation has been going on for like a decade without anyone knowing anything or any documentation crossing Mace Windu’s desk, but considering Sifo Dyas or Dooku or whoever was able to somehow erase an entire planet from (allegedly) every known bit of data collection or documentation, it could be argued that maybe Dyas and Dooku were just master forgers and had fake correspondence and reports going between them and the Kaminoans for over a decade now.

It’s not that far of a leap to say they got their hands on some heavily encrypted software on some very expensive computers and were able to imitate different speech patterns and documents and handwriting and official stamps or even holograms and holocalls. As far as the Kaminoans know, all of their contacts are fully aware and in the know about this clone army (because as far as they know, Sifo Dyas is alive and had to have been in communication recently)— When Obi-Wan shows up, it just happened to be at the exact time Dooku was the one supposed to be there in person himself that day. The Kaminoans did greet him as Master Jedi and said he was expected.

Obviously that could have only worked in the movie if Dooku had shown up and we saw him having to keep his cool/sneak around when some other Kaminoans tell him his “assistant” has already arrived, would you like us to escort you to him?

Internally Dooku’s thinking “WHOMST??” but externally he’s keeping his chill while searching the Force for whoever else might be— is that OBI-WAN KENOBI??

It’s soooooo tasty for Qui-Gon’s master and Qui-Gon’s apprentice to meet under these circumstances. Both of them know the other shouldn’t be there right now. They’re both having to play it cool in front of the Kaminoans, and this is even besides the fact Kenobi was there to find the bounty hunter assassin in the first place.

“I didn’t think you… were still as active in the Order,” Obi-Wan says slowly and diplomatically, knowing for a FACT that Dooku left the Order a long time ago.

“I… retired from active service,” Dooku says, equally diplomatically. “I act as a… consultant from time to time.”

“It’s soooo funny how I’ve never heard anything about that or this clone army the Jedi ordered,” Obi-Wan says, making direct eye contact with Dooku and probably trying to read his mind (to no avail). “The one they ordered ten years ago before there was ever any thought of the Jedi being actively involved on the frontlines of what isn’t a declared war. What would the Jedi want with a military in the first place?”

“How old are you, young one?” Dooku deflects in that fake kindly condescending grandfatherly voice. “How long have you been on the Council— Oh you’re just a Kniiiiight, that’s right, okay I see. How interesting. How much information are you actually privilege to, Obi-Wan?”

And this is all happening even before Obi-Wan Nancy Drew’d his way to Jango Fett’s private quarters!

Obi-Wan KNOWS he can’t go rogue right now when he’s that far from his ship on a city surrounded by an ocean and a literal army of clones soldiers (of that one super efficient bounty hunter, whenever it is he finds that out) all apparently under the command (?) of someone who definitely definitely super should not be speaking or doing or ordering anything under the name of the Jedi Order.

Count Dooku (who he doesn’t even know is a Sith yet) could very easily accuse him of being an impostor and have him detained or attacked or killed on sight. Zam Wessel was already established to be a shapeshifter in this movie, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility for Obi-Wan to not be who he says he is (which is kinda true?? since he WASN’T the Jedi ambassador for the Temple there to pick up his to-go order of a quarter-million identical men, with a million more on the way??). The Kaminoans might not even know much else about Jedi and Sith aesthetics besides “Wears robes” so if Dooku pulled a red lightsaber it might not even faze them, since he’d be able to provide more information and correspondence proving he’s the ‘actual’ Jedi anyway

Like can you imagine a fight breaking out not just between Kenobi and Jango, but a team-up of Jango and Dooku against Kenobi? That would have jumpstarted some of this clone army business a lot earlier in the movie and actually addressed what should have been the biggest conspiracy, coverup, and militaristic move of the MILLENNIUM

this isn't intended to be a judgment on anyone in particular, but I'm surprised on how few people in the cccc fandom write image descriptions for their art considering the existence of a character who would realistically need to use them {whether you interpret heart as low vision or light sensitive or fully blind} it's just kind of ironic how the characters in the media couldn't even access the content made for it

anyways, if you have the ability to write image descriptions for your work, I highly recommend doing it! it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it :-)

I need to thank you so much for this! I had a collection of loose ideas knocking around in my head that I wanted to use somehow and your prompt just made them all click into place, thank you! I think some variant of this ficlet might work its way into my longfic? But for now, this should work as a standalone.

Some context: the inspo for this was your lovely prompt (ofc) + a line Solas has in his fight with Elgar'nan ("Once the blight is free, it will rule this world, and you will be its attack dog. You will burn this world at its command, as Andruil did at yours, and you will leave only ruin behind you.") + the symbolism of Andruil being represented by a hawk + also the possibility that her name was derived from Andúril, Aragorn's sword in LOTR.

The People prayed to either Mythal or to Elgar’nan when they sought revenge, and it depended heavily on the kind that they hoped for. Mythal’s vengeance was cold, calculated, and exacting. Hers was the knowledge that she had all of eternity to look forward to, and with a flick of her wrist she could ensure that you did not.

Elgar’nan, on the flip-side, had more of a flare for the dramatics. His vengeance was all fire, angry and passionate, fury beyond measure. And when he didn’t have the time or, perhaps, inclination to deliver it himself, he would send her. His sword.

It was why she was pulled from the Fade in the first place. He couldn’t be in two places at once, and he had needed a general. Someone to lead his armies in one battle while he fought in another. And it hadn’t ended with the war against the Titans, it never ended in the shallow spells of peace between the Evanuris and those who would become The Forgotten Ones.

She was a god, with her own temples, followers, slaves, armies. And still, when he called, she came. A trained bird, given just enough free rein to feel unencumbered, sent out on his whims to attack his targets at his command- and yet always, she came back to his hand.

And it was fine. Mostly, it was fine. Her role wasn’t to question, to think, to pass judgement in these situations. She was a weapon to be wielded, a flaming avenger, burning bright, sent out by the Sun-tamer to see his will delivered.

But some days, his will was cruel even by her misguided reckoning. Sometimes she was set upon those she would sooner spare, breaking into homes to deliver his righteous fury upon people she would herself have sided with, cornering them in spaces they had once thought themselves safe and delivering swift, just deaths that were not in any way artful, creative, did not provide her with the chase she craved and the adrenaline rush it brought with it. And always she was unflinching, all through the act itself, holding the pieces of herself together until she was alone and could shatter in private.

And so she sat, knees pulled to chest, face hidden, folded in on herself and trembling in the aftermath.

She heard Ghilan’nain coming, would recognise the sound of her footsteps against the forest floor just as she would her own name. How she found her, she wasn’t sure. It was possible Elgar’nan had told her where she would be. All she would’ve needed to do was ask sweetly, flutter those long, deer-like lashes of hers. He, like his favourite general, would rearrange the stars at Ghilan’nain’s request. He was fond of her, protective, and it was… nice. Like a father ought to be, perhaps, if any of them knew how that was supposed to look.

She was aware of Ghilan’nain falling down to sit beside her on the forest floor.

“Do you wish to talk about it?” she asked.

“No,” Andruil replied, voice muffled by her knees, because she couldn’t spare Ghilan’nain from all the horrors of the world but she could shield her from this.

She felt Ghilan’nain lean into her, resting her head against the back of her shoulder. It was so improbably tender, in a way that clashed ferociously with the drying blood caked into her fingernails, splattered across her face.

“Ghilan’nain,” she said on an inhale, fighting to keep her voice steady as her throat and chest burned with the desire to just cry. “Da’ghil, you deserve…” Better.

“Hmm?” Ghilan’nain shifted beside her, lifting her head momentarily to adjust her hair before returning it to its rightful place. “I deserve…. what?” There was a lightness in her voice that made Andruil’s heart lurch anew, because she knew that if she looked at her, she’d see her teasing smile, and she didn’t feel worthy of it, of this, of her.

“I could have a palace built for you,” Andruil said, clutching her knees tighter. “Somewhere far away, peaceful. Somewhere nice.”

“And what would I do there?” Ghilan’nain asked, with a small, imperceptible sigh that Andruil only caught because she was so close. “It sounds ever so dull.”

“You could do anything you wanted. I’d provide everything you’d need to be happy.”

“Everything but you, I presume.”

She didn’t respond, and felt Ghilan’nain shift beside her, moving to wrap a slender arm around her shoulders.

“I love you,” Ghilan’nain said. “And I trust you, and I choose you. And if you send me away, I will find you. If you kill me out of some misguided attempt to spare my heart, I will haunt you for the rest of your days.” Her free hand snaked around to rest atop Andruil’s, and it was all she could to do keep from sobbing. Fingers practised in the art of creation, capable of drawing life forward as others drew portraits, slipped between those honed in the name of destruction.

“Would that you knew what I had done,” Andruil said.

“I do not care.”

“It wasn’t pretty.” A half-hearted attempt to make her see.

But she just hummed, snuggling closer, holding the pieces of Andruil together with her embrace. “I don’t expect it was.”

She kept a-hold of her, for as long as it took for Andruil to eventually lift her head from the sanctuary her knees provided. Ghilan’nain ran her thumb over the back of her hand, squeezed her shoulder with the other, and did not even flinch at the tear-streaked gore she knew still lay on her skin.

“You are mine,” Ghilan’nain said, lifting her head to rest her forehead against hers. “And I am yours. Whatever you do.”

Andruil exhaled slowly. “I am yours, as you are mine.”

Ghilan’nain smiled, brighter and more captivating than Elgar’nan’s sun could ever be. She removed her hand from Andruil’s shoulder to cup her cheek. “My god,” she whispered.

“My favourite,” Andruil replied reverently, and pressed her lips to hers.

I’d love to hear you explain your thoughts on Ralsei Transitioning (saw it from your theory list) cuz for me, I don’t imagine it happening, since it would mess with the even gender ratio of the fun gang (not being negative just curious)

I dont know how to properly articulate it and I was exaggerating a bit when I put it so high up, but it's mostly because I am convinced a key part of ralseis arc will be in some way about his identity and his 'role' in the prophecy conflicting with his friendship with the lightners, his dynamic with Susie is apart of this as he goes from wanting her to play along to admiring how good it is that she's 'susie'. If Susie's in the role of resisting the narrative then i'd like if her dynamic with ralsei involves him becoming his own person more than just the guide and more than just the prince in the prophecy. Not that ralsei isint his own character but i think a sort of broken pedestal moment like what flowey has with chara happening with him and US would be very interesting. He likes the fun gang! Their his friends! Hes never had friends! And i kinda hate evil ralsei or the idea that hes in some way malicious or conniving but i DO like the idea of him being mislead, so if susies the 'hero' of the story her 'saving' the prince by making him realize he wants to be his own person appeals to me. Also ties in with him possibly being a reflection of kris ideal self and simultaneously a nostalgic reflection of asriel. The guy was basically handmade in a lab for people to point at screaming "ASRIEL?!?!?" and transitioning is like the biggest thing he could do to possibly assert his identity as RALSEI and not just anything else he's a reflection of.

I want him to learn what it's like to be himself for himself :)

Nonbinary ralsei is also very good and I also really like generfluid ralsei, tbh the gender ratio is something I don't really pay attention to. I like the berdly egg jokes and the nonbinary Noelle stuff I've been seeing is cute too. chapter 7 is going to end with the fungangs debut as a girl group, trust me!

ALSO adding on to my last post I have seen a bunch of people around all social media say things about the state of shoujo anime in recent years all along the lines of saying there are less shoujo anime bc women's perspectives and stories are viewed as less profitable than shounen and that's probably not untrue in terms of executive's reasoning but also every time there is a shoujo anime made literally all I ever see people talk about are the guy romantic partners and if anyone says anything about liking the woman main character it's always through the filter of saying things like aww the guy loves her so much and it's like. The girls on the shows aren't talking to each other about anything but men the audience isn't talking about anything but men etc. You want women's perspectives. But the only perspective you want is to only keep talking about liking men.

Completely self indulgent post but here's one of the post-canon scenarios I have in my head for G Gundam.

Maybe skip this post if you don't like dark themes. Not all of what I've outlined is dark (most of it isn't), but I do cross the line past what appears in the show in regards to DG cells and abduction.

The shuffles all get roped into restoration projects on Earth between the 13th and 14th gundam fights, partially to have something to do alongside their training, partially out of inspiration by the common points of the Kasshus' and Master Asia's goals, and partially because netting their countries some decent publicity is likely to earn them favors during the Gundam Fight's off-years.

Sai is contacted by Kyral about an effort to clear out the infamous buildup of trash and cadavers on Everest; he wants Sai to leverage Neo China's help as something of a reparation kind of deal and Sai goes sure why not.

Sai recruits Argo because Bolt Gundam is built to withstand the cold, and he thinks Argo and Nastasha could help reverse engineer that quality to enable the use of their Gundams as both heavy work equipment and protection from the harsh environmental conditions that normally prevent this kind of operation.

George gets involved because someone he knows has a distant relative who died on the mountain a century ago, and they wanted him to check in with the forensics team on the project. This detail is important because eventually it becomes clear that there is a mystery to solve (that I myself haven't figured out all the details of yet but broadly know the setup and conclusion); DG-infected people are disappearing and not being investigated due to stigma. Our heroes are naturally going to be pissed about this, and will need an "in" with the field if they want to do anything about it.

First massively self-indulgent element: The forensics/body identification team inexplicably includes the real-world author Kathy Reichs, who somehow exists in this universe, and there's a little side bit about her having written a Bones book right before the 12th fight that featured a cooked cadaver found inside a gundam after entry into the Earth's atmosphere. There are a lot of weird coincidences in the book that parallel the DG incident, which creeps everyone out, but the similarities are merely born of the writer threading the needle of being believable and interesting in a way that became very true to life.

What does become relevant is when the Shuffles eventually meet up, she's able to explain the implications of a bunch of weird shit the fighters discovered (also Marie Louise read her book, and one of the in-universe liberties Reichs took writing about the gundams' black boxes that she explains in the afterword leads to ML realizing something important; that Neo Germany does not have its gundam's remains.)

While the Everest project is happening, Domon, Chibodee, and Allenby all want to continue their training somewhere on Earth, and receive a proposal from (an OC of mine who is) a historic preservationist (and an acquaintance of Allenby's): she has acquired the grounds of an abandoned castle in Europe* after submitting a plan to restore it, and needs to hire people to help with the labor.

*the castle is probably somewhere in Germany because I also want this pitch to have drama over Schwarz (pre-13th fight), Schwarz (Kyoji), and Schwarz (the next guy who was supposed to inherit the mask when the older ninja retired). Also Germany is fucking pretty.

In exchange for the help of the three gundam fighters, they and Rain get paid, plus room and board anywhere on the grounds, plus full access to the grounds and miles of sparsely-inhabited countryside for training purposes, and the privacy and ability to practice with their gundams that comes with being in the middle of fucking nowhere. Rain sets herself up to work a clinic in the next town over as well as practicing pro re nata wilderness medicine (I'm convinced every medic supporting the gundam fight would need to be able to do this.)

The group involved in the Castle project sticks around for a time, makes some good progress, and engage in occasional Shenanigans that come up when you put a bunch of weirdos in a Situation.

They aren't in town a lot save for Rain, but when they are they eventually start to pick up on gossip and news about the Mysterious Disappearances correlated with DG cell infection (as well as details that turn out to be important later). Eventually Rain brings this to Domon and Chibodees' attention and they decide that, yeah, this is tied to the DG, this is their problem, they should convene with the rest of the Shuffle Alliance about it.

Also of course Schwarz is involved because I'm the one writing this; the culprits' DG-tissue harvesting operation relies on having him captured and helpless, using cells from his body to "update" other victims' DG infections to a less aggressive strain. One thing I haven't decided is whether I want a reinstantiated Wong to head this shit, or make up my own morally bankrupt opportunistic asshole looking to twist the DG to their own benefits. I also need to decide where on the planet the center of all this insanity is, and it needs to be a place that isn't going to have any unfortunate implications (because that's a genuine risk with dark story elements)

... That's about as much as I have that is thought-out enough for me to explain. I return to thinking about this scenario a lot because it puts most of the characters way out of their element (and has a bunch of details that appeal to me specifically), and it kind of evolved into an incomplete plot outline that I don't currently have any plans to flesh out.

I think it's an interesting enough direction to go, because it follows through with a lot of the themes present in G, but takes advantage of the genre shift to avoid DBZ-crazy power scaling and adjusts the conflict more to a matter of where the main characters' prowess is most effective (Both in and out of the gundams. I'm assuming there are a ton of guys similar to Michelo's gang that just need fighting interspersed with everything else I described. In fact, kicking Some Group of Douchebags out of their protection racket is probably how team Castle even gets ahold of evidence related to missing persons.)
