Comprehensive Overview of Specialized Labels for Diverse Industries
Labels play a pivotal role across industries, providing crucial information, enhancing product presentation, and ensuring safety. From tamper-evident void labels to luxurious embossed labels, each label type serves a unique function tailored to industry-specific requirements. Let’s delve into some key labeling types, their applications, and why selecting the right label is essential for product success.
Labels are much more than an afterthought in product packaging; they are vital tools for branding, compliance, and customer communication. Whether it's a security-focused void label or a visually striking foiling label, choosing the right label type enhances the product's value and functionality. Each industry requires specific label features to meet consumer expectations and regulatory standards. Let’s explore some of the most commonly used label types and how they cater to different market needs.
Void Labels
Void labels are a form of tamper-evident security label. Once applied, if an attempt is made to remove them, the label reveals the word "VOID" or a similar warning. This ensures the product hasn’t been tampered with before it reaches the consumer.
These labels are commonly used in industries where product integrity is critical, such as pharmaceuticals, electronics, and high-value consumer goods. The visible tamper indication helps prevent fraud and counterfeiting, safeguarding both the brand and the customer.
Labels for Cosmetics
Cosmetic labels are designed with both function and beauty in mind. In the cosmetics industry, aesthetics are crucial for attracting consumers, but these labels also need to comply with strict regulations. They must include ingredient lists, expiration dates, and usage instructions, all while maintaining an appealing look that reflects the brand’s identity.
Materials like waterproof films are often used to ensure the label remains intact even when exposed to moisture, such as in shower environments or with liquid-based products like lotions and creams.
Wrap Around Labels
Wrap around labels offer full 360-degree coverage of a product, typically used for bottles or cylindrical containers. These labels are perfect for brands that want to maximize their labeling space for both branding and mandatory product information.
Wrap around labels are popular in the beverage and food industries, particularly for products like water bottles, soft drinks, and condiments. Their ability to cover large surface areas provides ample space for vibrant graphics, barcodes, nutritional information, and promotional messages.
Embossed Labels
Embossed labels are a premium option where part of the design is raised from the surface of the label, creating a textured, tactile experience. These labels are frequently used in luxury goods and high-end packaging, such as perfumes, fine wines, or exclusive product lines.
Embossed labels not only provide a sophisticated look but also give consumers a more engaging and memorable unboxing experience. This is especially beneficial for high-end brands that wish to convey a sense of elegance and craftsmanship.
Labels for Foods
Labels For Food must meet strict regulatory requirements to ensure consumer safety. This includes displaying allergen warnings, nutritional facts, and ingredient lists. At the same time, the design must appeal to consumers, often using colors and imagery that evoke freshness or healthfulness.
A well-designed food label can significantly influence purchasing decisions by offering transparency and building trust. For example, labels highlighting "organic" or "non-GMO" certifications help brands align with health-conscious consumers.
Foiling Labels
Foiling labels use metallic foils, often in gold or silver, to add a reflective, eye-catching element to the design. These labels are often found in luxury packaging and promotional products, helping to create a sense of exclusivity and high value.
Foiling is a popular choice for limited-edition products, holiday packaging, and premium items where a brand wants to differentiate itself and leave a lasting impression on consumers.
Labels for Beverages
Beverage labels face specific challenges, such as exposure to moisture, temperature changes, and constant handling. These labels need to be durable, waterproof, and resistant to condensation, especially in chilled or frozen environments.
Labels for Beverage also offer significant opportunities for creative branding. Bright colors, unique fonts, and illustrations are often employed to grab attention and convey the drink’s flavor, health benefits, or cultural associations.
Labels for Pharmaceuticals
Pharmaceutical labels are one of the most highly regulated label types. They need to include precise information regarding the drug’s use, dosage, side effects, and storage instructions. Furthermore, these labels often integrate security features like holograms or unique identification codes to prevent counterfeit drugs from entering the market.
Traceability is crucial in pharmaceutical labeling, with many labels including serialization or barcoding to track products from production through to the consumer, ensuring patient safety and product authenticity.
Cassette Labels
Cassette labels are specifically designed for use in laboratory and medical environments. These labels are applied to medical cassettes—containers that hold tissue samples for testing. Cassette labels need to be extremely durable, able to withstand exposure to chemicals, high temperatures, and moisture during medical procedures.
In these high-stakes environments, ensuring that labels remain legible and adhere securely is vital to avoid misidentification, which could lead to serious errors in patient treatment.
Choosing the Right Labeling Material
Selecting the right material for your labels depends on various factors, such as the product's environment, its lifespan, and the level of interaction it will have with the consumer. For instance, cosmetic labels need to be water-resistant and durable, while food labels often prioritize cost-efficiency and compliance with food safety standards.
Understanding the specific needs of your product and industry ensures that your labels remain functional, informative, and visually appealing, making a positive impact on the consumer's experience.
The Role of Design in Labeling
Design plays a key role in how consumers perceive your product. A well-designed label can differentiate your product from competitors and reinforce your brand’s identity. Labels with clean lines, high-quality imagery, and cohesive branding can make a lasting impression and drive sales.
Sustainability in Labeling
As consumers become more eco-conscious, many brands are adopting sustainable labeling practices. This includes using recyclable materials, biodegradable adhesives, and soy-based inks. Sustainable labels not only reduce environmental impact but can also improve brand reputation by aligning with consumers' values.
Technology in Labeling
Smart labeling technology, such as QR codes, RFID tags, and augmented reality features, is becoming increasingly popular. These innovations allow brands to offer more interactive experiences, giving consumers access to additional product information, authenticity checks, or promotional content via their smartphones.
Conclusion
Labels are an essential part of any product, serving both practical and aesthetic purposes. Whether it’s a void label ensuring product security or a foiling label adding a touch of luxury, choosing the right label type can significantly enhance a product’s appeal and functionality. In today’s competitive market, investing in high-quality, well-designed labels is key to building consumer trust and elevating your brand.

What are tactile indicators for the blind?
Tactile indicators for the blind are physical cues designed to provide tactile feedback and guidance to individuals with visual impairments. These indicators help them navigate and orient themselves in various environments, such as streets, sidewalks, public buildings, transportation facilities, and indoor spaces. Here are some common types of tactile indicators:
Tactile Paving: This is a system of textured paving surfaces with raised patterns or bumps that can be felt underfoot. These patterns typically follow standardized designs and are placed strategically to indicate safe walking paths, hazardous areas, pedestrian crossings, and other important points of reference.
Directional Tiles: These tiles have specific patterns or textures that convey directional information, such as arrows or lines indicating the direction of travel or changes in direction. They help users navigate along paths and routes efficiently.
Warning Strips: Warning strips consist of tactile markings with distinct textures or patterns that warn users of potential hazards, such as edges of platforms, stairs, ramps, or other dangerous areas. They serve as a tactile alert to prevent accidents.
Braille Signage: In addition to tactile indicators on the ground, Braille signage provides important information in tactile form, such as room numbers, restroom signs, elevator buttons, and other essential labels, enabling visually impaired individuals to access information independently.
Platform Edge Warning Strips: These are often found on train or subway platforms and consist of tactile strips along the edge to warn individuals of the drop-off or the proximity to the tracks.
Detectable Warning Surfaces: These are typically used at street crossings or intersections and consist of truncated domes or bars that indicate the boundary between pedestrian walkways and vehicular areas. They provide tactile feedback to help individuals recognize where to stop safely.

Kerbstones for Accessibility: Creating Barrier-free Pathways
Kerbstones, also known as curb stones or curbs, play a crucial role in creating barrier-free pathways and enhancing accessibility in urban and public spaces. By implementing thoughtful design and using appropriate kerbstones, it becomes easier for individuals with mobility challenges, parents with strollers, and people using assistive devices to navigate safely and independently. Here are some considerations for using kerbstones to create barrier-free pathways:
Lowered Kerbs: Incorporating lowered kerbs or curb ramps at intersections and crossings is essential to provide smooth transitions between the sidewalk and road or other areas with different elevations. Lowered kerbs ensure that individuals using mobility aids, such as wheelchairs or walkers, can easily navigate between different surfaces without encountering obstacles.
Detectable Warning Strips: To assist individuals with visual impairments, it is beneficial to include detectable warning strips along the edge of kerbstones. These tactile indicators, typically made of raised bumps or truncated domes, alert people using canes or those with limited vision to changes in the walking surface and potential hazards.
Slip-resistant Surface: It is important to choose kerbstones with slip-resistant surfaces to ensure stability and prevent accidents, especially during wet or icy conditions. Textured or grooved finishes can provide better traction and reduce the risk of slips and falls.
Wide and Continuous Pathways: When designing pathways, ensure they are wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and strollers comfortably. Avoid any abrupt changes in width or direction, which can create barriers and make navigation challenging.
Proper Alignment: Ensure that kerbstones are aligned correctly with adjacent surfaces, such as sidewalks and roadways. Smooth and flush transitions between surfaces minimize tripping hazards and allow for seamless movement.
Clear Signage and Wayfinding: Use clear signage and wayfinding markers to guide individuals along accessible pathways. Signage should be easily visible and located at appropriate heights to assist people with varying levels of mobility and visual impairments.
Regular Maintenance: Regular inspection and maintenance of kerbstones are crucial to ensure they remain in good condition. Any damaged or uneven kerbstones should be repaired promptly to avoid hazards and maintain accessibility.
Collaboration with Accessibility Experts: When planning and implementing barrier-free pathways, it is advisable to consult with accessibility experts, architects, and urban planners who specialize in inclusive design. They can provide valuable insights and ensure compliance with accessibility standards and guidelines.
Creating barrier-free pathways with the appropriate use of kerbstones enhances the overall accessibility and inclusivity of public spaces. By considering the needs of individuals with disabilities or mobility challenges, cities and communities can foster an environment that promotes independent mobility and equal access for all.

Why Ada Detectable Warning Surface Required?
Ada detectable warning surface requirements are designed to protect workers from slips and falls. They must be:
Resistant to abrasion
Non-slip
Non-reflective
Ada detectable warning surfaces should also meet the specific requirements of the jurisdiction in which they are installed.
Detectable warning plates are a form of universal design, for their contrasting color and textures act as communication for all users of a space. As they serve as an effective communication system, they can be used on multiple surfaces in any environment, including outdoors.
Detectable warning tile placement
Warning patterns on the ground make walking safer. They can be used to mark hazardous areas, such as on train and subway platforms, where a gap or hole could cause someone to fall in. Offset patterns are placed at the edges of these areas to avoid confusion with a regular grid. They also give pedestrians an indication of where they should be looking while crossing a street or area with multiple entries.
Tactile pavers help make a sidewalk more accessible. They are placed at locations where there is a change in the grade of the surface, mostly on ramps or landings. Tactile pavers are also used around curb cuts, at the end of ramps, just before streets and as a reference for parking spots.
Dome size
The domes on the warning plates that indicate a hazardous area are known as “truncated domes.” They don’t form a full round bubble because they are made from flat-sided segments that go up instead of down. This makes them less slippery and dangerous to pedestrians
Where an indoor space is concerned, truncated dome solar lights are typically used as accents in bathrooms. The interior walls and ceilings often drip moisture into the space, creating a near constant need for forced air circulation. At night, these effects can make even a small bathroom feel stifling and uncomfortable. Indoor truncated domes serve as convenient means for creating a more comfortable environment by diffusing heat and converting it into light that can be seen by people in the room without causing visible shadows.
Methods of installing detectable warning plates
Detectable warning plates come in a variety of materials and finishes depending on where they’re being installed. These plates are usually made from silicone or acrylic, and will often have a textured finish for increased visibility.
Unpainted cast DWPs are commonly used outside, where they are usually laid into new concrete. This durable installation method is the most durable, as the concrete helps cure the plate into the hardscape.
When it’s time to install cast in place concrete, use lifting springs to lower tactile pavers into the concrete. Create a small gap for thermal expansion with an edger, then trowel and brush the surrounding area flat. The detectable warning plate becomes solidly affixed as the concrete hardens.
You will find these tiles everywhere like airports, shopping malls, parks, and in every building. Their use is increasing and so is their demand. There are many companies that make these tiles and together these companies provide a wide range of options to choose from.
The biggest advantage of these tiles is that they provide a safe surface. For example, they remain anti-skid even after getting wet. Also, they allow placing firm feet. Also, they come in different colors and designs to give different signs.

Demon Baby Headcanons: A Reference for “The Baby Assignment” Project
It made more sense to post my headcanons as a single thing since I’ll be working on “The Baby Assignment” headcanons in between the “Quick! Kiss Me!” miniseries.
These will be hinted at throughout “The Baby Assignment” pieces and I just wanted to put them all together. Keep in mind these are demon baby headcanons. I don’t really have any idea about angel baby headcanons since I’m card locked in chapter 21 :/
I think I got them all. I can’t really think right now.
Warning for one headcanon about human eating (obviously discouraged in the Devildom). I wanted to put in a section about how the Devildom handles bad parents (hint: logic first, then with justice) but I wasn’t vibing with it. Didn’t do it. No worries.
Demon children are usually born small but develop quickly until they stagnate around “teenage” years. Most babies (ironically) weight at least 6 pounds. It’s VERY rare to get a smaller baby and they must be taken care of EXTREMELY well
Their eyes will open within an hour or two of delivery and will be their lifelong color
Because they’re typically raised in the darkness of the Devildom and learn to flourish in the shadows, demon babies really struggle with exposure to light. It hurts their eyes and makes them cry. They should be shielded from light until they’re about a year old or show increased tolerance. Unless they need glasses or have a birth defect, most children appear to tolerate light with no problem between 4-6 years old.
Hybrid children are an exception (and hard to record for the census given how many subspecies of demon there are and all the magical co-mingling), but full-born demon children typically nest and seek out sources of heat to stay warm until they’re able to walk, talk, and do more for themselves. They tend to attach to the warmer parent.
Devildom childcare advocates recommend swaddling the child in parents’ clothes or clothes of relatives because it keeps them warm and orients their brain to who the main family members are. Pyjamas are a suitable exception but parents and close family should make an effort to show the child their scent
Demon children latch, and not just on their milk-producing parent. Within the first month of life the tiniest baby talons come out and allows the child to latch onto the clothes/skin of their caretakers. Full demon children latch and can maintain their grip/fully support themself in moments of stress, aggravation, fear, and in moments of cuddling. It is still recommended to support the child with an arm because they will get tired. Half-demon children should be supplemented with an arm or carrying device until the full extent of their latching ability is determined
Latching is also critical to scent development. It is an instinct of the child to tuck itself into or around those that will protect them. Unless absolutely sure of their safety, they tend to latch onto the stronger parent. When they feel safe, they usually latch to the other parent or try to make a nest with both
For babies who latch or show interest in latching, being semi-naked or completely naked is recommended. Their parents’ scent is stronger and seems to be preferred this way.
Devildom children don’t really crawl. The best way it can be described is “skitter”. You’ll hear their little claws go. Most parent describe their children moving in a lupine manner, on all fours. they like to stay low to the ground and move faster than human children.
There have been reports of children climbing up cabinets, walls, and onto structures like chandeliers and fans. This is part of their hunting instinct and preps their claws for the different things they will encounter/handle as an adult.
Most demon children develop their “Devildom” vocal chords first and will define parents/family by individual growls/shrieks. If other languages are not encouraged in the household, it is not unusual for a child to stay in this stage until two or three. They typically gain muscle control/development to speak real words by they end of their first year
Devildom babies aren’t as tactile as human babies but will definitely show preferences. It’s a lot easier to figure out what a Devildom baby hates. They’ll be quick to show you.
Devildom babies purr to show contentment and can start purring within 1-2 months of birth. This is one of the first signs of affection.
Other signs of affection include petting the parent or trying to get them in a state of skin-to-skin contact (see latching, above), snuggling, headbutting, showing nesting behaviors, and gently teething on them.
Full-blooded demon children can expect to cut fangs starting at the end of the first year. They will get their first full set of fangs near age two. For children who can only inherit one set of teeth, these fangs will be with them for life. They will naturally harden and lengthen to a full adult set as the body grows.
Mixed demon children are special cases where fangs are concerned because some species have extra sets of fangs, defense mechanisms where they lose and regrow teeth, and other things of that nature. For most species, teeth are seen in the first year of life.
Fangs typically look pointy and shark-like until they get a little older (somewhere between 3-6, it varies amongst children) and the teeth start to differentiate themselves in a “human-like” smile.
Children with fangs should have a greater variety in their diet for the sake of tooth shaping and development. Fangs need to be kept sharp. They can have slightly tougher food or snacks, and may display the “kill shake” when eating. This is normal. Supplement with teething toys as needed, but keep a close eye on them. It’s best to engage them a little like a tug of war to help develop the biting instinct and lengthening of the teeth.
Tails, like fangs, do not have set rules for growth or appearance. Some children of purer lineages get them as early as 3, and some get them as they move into the teenage years. There is no set age for tail development. If the child itches their back/bottom a lot, tends to streak, and shows general aggravation or discomfort, it’s best to take them to a health specialist to see if they’re developing a tail.
It is a similar scenario for wings. The child may cry or scratch a lot. Be prepared for biting and wrestling your children into shirts. Back rubs, cold creams, and soft textures are recommended. Though VERY RARE, some children can develop their wings within the first year of life. It is more normal to see them sprout between the ages of 3-5
Should the child develop wings young, they will take on a life of their own. They will twitch and flap at random times and this is normal. This is the child’s brain working wing movement into the subconscious, just as it would breathing. Devildom children who have wings go on to move them reflexively and this is how that starts.
Keep an eye on your child. They will try to hover and may be able to pull their body weight and travel short distances (about 30 seconds) within the first year of having them. Within two or three years they will have better altitude and some sense of guiding with a bit of a struggle. Prepare to be dive-bombed “accidentally” and for things to be broken in bad landings
There have been reports of full-blooded and half-blooded Devildom children gaining night vision. You can determine if your child has this by whether their eyes grow in the dark. Remember the rule of thumb: the older the demon lineage, the brighter their eyes. If obtained, this stays with them for life. The degree of clarity varies amongst children.
Children may develop horns. All horns start out as tiny velvet nubs once they break the surface of the scalp. Prior to breaking the surface, the child may scratch at their scalp excessively, rub their heads on things, or headbutt tougher surfaces to counteract the pressure and itchiness they feel. Scratching their head or brushing their hair may help but nothing can be done until the horns breach. If the horns do not breach, take them to a healthcare facility. They may need help.
Horns should be watched closely as they start to take shape. Some shapes need to be regularly broken or shaved to prevent the child from harming themselves
Children are driven to develop their horns and may try to shave off the velvet lining by rubbing against family members or hard surfaces. This is normal.
It is not uncommon for children to try to “lock horns” with each other when younger. This is another way to shave off the lining. Some studies indicate that this type of play may make them develop faster. If one of the parents have horns, it is encouraged to do this with great care
Although not scientifically proven, the vast majority of Devildom parents swear by rubbing horns to soothe tantrums and put children to sleep. Seems to work. Interestingly, this trait carries on to later stages of life but brings a greater variety of reactions.
It is not uncommon to see growth spurts and great deals of change between the first 7-13 years of life (7-13 by human standards). After this, the demon will stagnate. Their rate of development can vary but demons live for thousands of years so it takes a very long time for signs of aging to occur
Old records suggest that feasting on human souls or the blood of other magical creatures may accelerate this process but these records cannot be confirmed.
Certain activities, such as participating in a pact, are prohibited until the child is 1,800 or older. Their magical capacity is not there and they cannot legally be bound in a pact. If a sorcerer or sorceress is pushing for a pact or you believe a pact has been made in bad faith, a grievance can be filed with the magical review board. If the other party is found guilty, a piece of them may be taken for consumption for the sake of “fairness”. Repeat offenders will be handled by Lord Diavolo (and are usually eaten. This has been “tentatively” amended due to the effort to unite the three realms)
Children who come from very powerful lineages (for example: one of the Seven Lords) may exhibit that key sin trait from a very early age. Some children will be hungrier than others, some will want more attention than others, some will be far stronger and may accidentally break things. Be prepared and parent accordingly.
Those born to succubus/incubi/naga lineages may show signs of charming or hypnotism from the age of two or when they can form sentences. If a member of your family has a natural susceptibility to this, brush up on negating spells and personal reinforcement charms.

11, 19, 21, 28 for the OTP ask meme, CorNyx of course
11. Do either try to hide their emotions if upset? Can the other still tell?
Very much so, especially at first. They're both so used to being the one other people look to, to keeping it together on the surface in order to keep themselves from cracking open, that it's hard to let go of that. Anger is easier to admit, especially about outside things like the war, bureaucracy, and eventually even about the way they themselves are treated.
Hurt takes a little longer, which trips them up at the beginning when they won't admit it to each other. They're both so used to not acknowledging it, after all. What starts off the sharing is, somewhat ironically, when the other gets angry on their behalf. Cor sees Nyx worn down, and then attacked and can't help but help. Perhaps he sees someone make a comment about Galahdans only knowing how to run away, hiding behind Mother Insomnia's skirts and leaving their mothers behind. Cor just stares the person down and starts ripping into their argument and their personal choices and motions Nyx to retreat. Nyx actually gets angry at first but takes the out. When they talk later, he yells at Cor that he's been dealing with it for years; he's immune. Cor is quiet for a while and then says "You could survive someone trying to bite your leg off," (a reference to a recent hospitalizing injury Nyx got fighting a daemon), "but that doesn't mean I wouldn't kill the daemon before it got there if I could. Or kill the one on your left leg while you stab the one on your right. They were hurting you." Later that night, after letting off some steam pounding dough in the kitchen and crawling in bed, Nyx will thank him. The next time it happens, he might even admit it did hurt. The reverse takes a while, because Cor's hurts are more subtle, but Nyx has always been a defender as well. Even when it is him doing the (unintentional) harm.
Once they are more settled in the relationship, they do get better at reading each other for the expressions and habits that indicate hurt. They can't always fight the causes, but they can offer comfort and companionship. When they do open up about hurts (both still try to deal with them on their own first, but if that's not enough, they are getting better about reaching out), Nyx will talk about it while they are touching and not looking each other in the eye -- either sitting side by side with hands intertwined, or leaning his head on Cor's lap, or just being held from behind -- and always with his hands either holding Cor's or his own. When Cor does it, he either confesses while working on something else with his hands -- cooking, whittling, repairing his car -- also not making eye contact, or sprawled out on top of Nyx in bed, head tucked under Nyx's chin.
Okay, this is clearly gonna be a long one. Continued under the cut.
19. How do they feel about PDA?
Great when a weapon to make people who know them go away or to tease them, otherwise very subdued or for emergencies only. Subdued touches are kisses to the hands or head, mainly to punctuate a parting or reunion, or to reassure. Fierce hugs on larger reunions or greater emotional distress, if they're both feeling it. (Nyx is very tactile up until he's Not. A certain level of agitation means he does not want to be touched, and struts around puffed up like a cat with its fur on end to warn people away, though he will sometimes accept a grounding bear hug from Cor if he's approached the right way.)
In front of their very good friends in casual settings, Nyx will initiate hand holding or Cor will wrap him up in a hug from behind.
This is, btw, why Nyx and most people are so shocked in "Those Who Wander" when Cor is so very open with physical affection and keeps it up for such a long duration.
21. Who would get into a fight to defend the other's honor? Who tends to the other's wounds?
Hmm...I think I discussed this above fairly well, so I'll discuss methods.
Cor fights for Nyx's honor primarily with very significant silences, glares, and lectures. If the person in question is too high ranking or idiotic for that not to work, he combines pointed demonstrations of affection or Nyx's battle prowess and, if bad enough, revenge is behind the scenes and occasionally via friendly powers (Regis, Clarus, Monica, etc).
Nyx's fights for Cor's honor are steely-voiced demands for proof and statements of fact in direct conversation, with the very rare punch to the face.
Nyx's physical wounds tend to be taken care of by the Glaive, but Cor is very deliberate in helping with the long-term care - helping change bandages, monitoring diet, and the like. His emotional wounds are handled by Cor trying to be a steady and certain a foundation as possible, mentally cataloguing all of the hurts and attacking the underlying pain at strategic moments with pointed, memorable gifts of milestones of physical affection, small tangible gifts Nyx can keep with him as a reminder, and deliberate acts of service and help when Nyx is about done.
Cor tends to hide his wounds much better, both physical and emotional, so Nyx paying enough attention to discover them and care about them is shockingly touching and a lot of the care Cor needs. Nyx does tend to his physical wounds so he can avoid the attention formal treatment brings if he can, and also sprinkles Cor with random small pieces of affection at a constant rate so he can't forget that he is loved and has support, coupled with devastatingly effective Honest Conversations (Lectures, really), when Cor is worn down.
28. What are there thoughts on pet names? Do they have any?
Nyx enjoys naming Cor adjectives in Galahd - adaman (strong one), kopes (a shortened form of many eye related epithets), kaleh (beautiful one), kardiakismu (my little heart, a horrid pun) - as well as "my heart" (a simpler horrid pun), and love. The Galahdan versions started slipping out shortly after he truly fell for Cor, as a natural outpouring, and he felt slightly safe knowing that Cor didn't understand them. And then Cor very deliberately learned what they meant and it was a sign of that understood love. Plus, he loves to be ridiculous and over-the-top, because he thinks Cor deserves to hear it. He mainly saves them for private conversation, though. Occasionally "love" will slip through in the company of friends.
He breaks out the heart ones especially when he is being exceptionally sincere or exceptionally teasing, with little middle ground. When talking to people not in the know, he will refer to Cor as "my own (dear) heart" and snicker to himself. His friends are disgusted and amused.
(I will eventually answer that ask properly, when I have time to work out more of the words I want)
Cor is one of those people who doesn't use names if he can avoid it when he's talking to someone. Names themselves, then, become moments of emphasis. He will occasionally use "love" though, a habit he picked up from Nyx and thus twice as likely to make Nyx smile.

Motion Sickness Chapter 80
pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq
"How are you feeling today, Cloud?" Dr. Caulbaugh asked me. We were alone in a padded office. She had a plant in the corner that looked malnourished.
"I'm alright. Can't really complain." I responded. I stared at the tall plant.
"Oh I'm sure you could. How are you really doing? It's important."
"Fine. I suppose. Been getting into some missions lately. There are these two girls who have been taking care of me recently. Looking after me. They want to help but they're not sure how."
"Two other huntresses?"
I nodded. "Yeah."
"Two other friends?"
"We might be a bit more than friends. The three of us."
"I see. Aren't you a lucky man."
"Am I though?" I laughed a little. She looked away, a touch embarrassed.
"Yes I suppose it's maybe something to help balance out what all happened to you. Something good to come at me with rather than have everything bad." She worried the corner of her lip with her pen. "And everything is working out between the three of you."
"I think so. Except…" I gestured at the side of my head in a circular fashion to indicate my insanity.
"You're not crazy, Mr. Strife."
"Well then I'm right next to crazy, one rung above it on the ladder of sanity."
"You're too cognizant for it to be traditional psychosis. When a patient exhibits that they have no idea that they are showing symptoms of it. You're self aware of what is happening to you."
"Maybe…"
"But this relationship is working out well?" She asked.
"We had some stuff to iron out at first and get the air clear. We still are occasionally. But for the most part yeah." So far my relationship with Weiss and Ruby had been, well, it had been easy. The pieces falling together once Weiss and I talked a little about freshman year.
"Have you been able to have sex? Many patients report problems performing while on the sorts of medications we have you on."
I blushed a little. "So far it's been just fine."
"That's good news. That sort of endorphin rush can only help with depression. It can sort of clear your brain chemistry for a new wave of neurotransmitters."
I'd been kind of able to feel that. Like I was wiping away an old slate with the release. "I thought I had PTSD?" I asked.
She waggled a hand. "They often go together. Sort of a buy one get one free deal."
"But with my brain."
"It's a complex organ."
"I see…"
I looked over at her plant and thought of something else to talk about. We'd only just begun this meeting and I was already running low on topics.
"I've been thinking about getting a plant. You know? Something to take care of. It was Ruby's idea. One of those two girls. Something small and easy to take care of. Weiss, the other, was all onboard with it. I think they both think it'll be good for me."
"Been eyeing at my plant have you? I can never seem to keep any of them alive. What kind of therapist am I if I can't even keep a plant going and my patients need me for their brain?"
I laughed a little. A low chuckle. "That's how I figure mine would go. I can't even take care of myself and then I'm supposed to add something more to that. No way. Nah."
"Those are their names? Weiss and Ruby?"
I nodded. "I worry about them. I'm scared about the things that come through when I'm not paying attention while Mother assaults my subconscious. I feel like she's a shark, just waiting underneath the surface of my thoughts. And she'll spring out at some point I'll have no control over."
"Salem is constantly at your door then, so to speak. You keep calling her mother. Is that on purpose?"
"No. That keeps slipping through. No matter how hard I try that one comes through. It makes me worried about what else is slipping through the cracks on me," I said. "It's an accident. But one that I keep making."
"She is your mother though, in a way."
"Yeah but I hate her and I don't mean to call her that."
"Do you think of her as your mother?"
"At times. But for the most part I think of her as this foreign, nearly all powerful thing that has her hooks in my mind. She's no more my mother than the incubator I was grown in was."
"So she is kind of your mother."
"Kinda," I returned. "She called me her son, her child, that is. I think she thinks of me that way and it influences me."
"Do you think she loves you?" Tanya Caulbaugh asked.
I inhaled a shuddering breath. "Maybe? I have no idea. I've never really thought about that. I mostly just think about how much I hate her. And my father too."
"Merlot? Was it?"
"It was. I think I'm going to kill him if I ever meet him. Is that fucked up of me?"
"The desire to kill one's parents is not unheard of."
"Yeah but in my situation. With how I was made. Is that messed up for me to think about?" I cornered her.
"Probably less than it might otherwise be. If you grew up in a loving home then it would be different. How you were born matters to this. The things that happened to you are awful and unforgivable."
"That's what I thought…"
"Though I'd prefer it if you harbored fewer murderous thoughts. I know killing people comes up on the job but you shouldn't seek it out."
"I think about killing more than just him. There's this woman, Cinder Fall who killed my partner, Pyrrha Nikos. I want her to die too."
"Are you often consumed by thoughts of revenge like this? Between your father and this other woman it seems to be on your mind a great deal. There's this revenge piece that we're only just tapping into."
"Maybe… My friends want me to give it up. But the fact is that I'm one of the only people on the planet that can stop Cinder Fall before she strikes again. I won't say I'm doing it for a purely altruistic purpose but I am doing it for that at least in part. She'll kill people if I don't stop her and I'm one of the few that can."
"Who else could fight her? Instead of you?" She asked.
"I'm really not sure. Almost no one by themselves apart from me. I'm a menace now. I had to surrender myself to Atlas custody. They couldn't bring me in unless I wanted to. She's in a similar boat. She's very powerful. Very dangerous."
"I'm glad you decided to come in. The path you were on with the Marijuana was self-destructive."
"I miss it."
"You do? The Marijuana?"
"Yeah, I doubt the girls would appreciate it if I took it up again but I do miss it. I might not get kissed as much if that was the case."
"You're not going to use on me, are you?"
I shook my head. "Nah. They took my paraphernalia. The girls did. Besides, my word of honor is good. You've got nothing to worry about."
"That's good. I'll warn you right now that THC doesn't play well with some of the other drugs you're on. It can make things so, so much worse," she said.
"Hard to imagine worse than this," I pointed out.
"How have your hallucinations been?" She wondered.
"About the same. Maybe better. It's hard to say."
"Any auditory command hallucinations?"
"Yes."
"Any visual hallucinations?" She scribbled into her notes.
"Yep," I returned.
"And tactile?"
"You bet."
"How have the nightmares been, Cloud. I know that they were worse on the Asenapine but how about on this Vraylar?"
"They've been at my normal level."
"Your normal level is pretty bad." She tapped the corner of her lips with the pen.
"Yeah. Yeah it is," I confessed. I brushed a hand back through my hair. I scratched at my scalp a little. I hated my own weakness. In many ways I was just as weak as I'd been when I first showed up at Beacon.
"We'll corner that eventually. You have my word that it does get better. I've worked with a lot of PTSD cases and I've seen a lot of ones that were worse than yours. We can get you through this."
"We'll see, Doc."
"I think that's all the time we have for today, too. I want you to think about whether it's true that only you can bring the Cinder Fall to justice or if that's a complex you've come up with to justify it to yourself."
"Very well. I will."
pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq
It didn't take me much thought about Cinder Fall to see whether I was one of the only people that can bring her down. I was. Dr. Caulbaugh didn't know about the maidens. She didn't need to know about them and since it was something on a need to know basis I hadn't shared it.
"How did therapy go, Cloud?" Ruby asked me.
"It went good. Even though I didn't have time to practice my lines for it."
Weiss did that thing where she hit me disapprovingly but her fingers lingered at my chest. I loved that. I loved when she did that. It just made me want to say more things she'd disapprove with. "You're not supposed to 'practice your lines.' You're supposed to share just whatever with them."
"Would you be able to? Just go in raw like that?"
"Well…" Weiss trailed. "Your phrasing is a little… I could maybe…"
"See that's what I thought," I said. I took a bite out of an apple at that.
My stomach felt small but my doctors were insisting that I at least eat something like three meals a day so I was snacking a little rather than have a full meal. Hey, it was the thought that counted.
I reclined back on my bunk in Atlas Academy. My point proven.
Ruby plopped down on my legs in the bunk. She rubbed a hand up and down on my leg contentedly. "Are you coming with us to dinner?"
"I got my dinner right here." I twisted the apple at her.
"The doctors say-" Weiss started.
"-the doctors say a lot of things. I'm fuckin' tryin' here." I twisted the apple at her next and took another bite to prove my new point. "I figure I'll leave you to Yang and Blake. I'm tired of coming between your team. I'll give this evening over to them."
"Hey, you don't come between our team," Ruby said softly, still rubbing at my leg in a comforting fashion.
"It's not that I don't believe you Ruby. It's that I can't believe you," I returned. "'Sides I should spend some time trying to turn this needle into a feather."
"Is that what you're doing with that?" Weiss asked.
"Yeah. Why?" I asked.
"I just thought you liked to stare at it," Ruby muttered. She was adorable. I reached out and brushed some hair behind her ear and she leaned into my touch like a kitten. She fluttered her eyes closed and let out a little sigh. I leaned all the way up and gave her a quick kiss.
"Please just come to dinner. Let us worry about how Blake and Yang feel," Weiss said.
I looked away from her eyes. She was disarming me. Trying to pen me in. If I looked at her too hard I'd have to give in.
"Please." Ruby begged, her eyes still closed. "Please."
"You two could literally ask me to jump off a bridge like that and I'd have to."
"So you'll come?" Ruby wondered.
"Got no choice now, do I." I tapped Ruby twice on the leg to tell her to get up off of me and I pulled myself up and out of the bunk. "But if I fall behind and never transfigure the needle that's on you two."
"Pssh. Yeah. Okay." Weiss hit me with the sass.
My feet hit the ground and I gestured for them to lead the way. They did, holding hands while I walked behind them and cored out my apple.
It was a short walk to team RWBY'S room. Literally one door down, was all. It brought back some memories of my team JNPR, when there was a team JNPR, being right down the hall from team RWBY. It was a painful memory. It had its ups and downs to it but really it was just painful as well.
"Yang, Blake?" Ruby opened the door and popped her head in, swinging the door wide open. "We're headed to dinner. You wanna come with us?"
"Sure. Will-uh-Cloud be there?" Yang asked.
"Right here." I stepped into view and waved at Yang.
"How's it hanging, Cloud?" Yang politely followed up.
"Oh you know. The usual."
"For you that could be anything," Yang returned.
"It's a bit of everything to be honest," I said. Weiss bumped me with her elbow. "Mostly good at the moment though."
"Reminds me a bit of getting dinner with team JNPR, you know? We'll be right there," she said getting up and helping Blake up too. Blake looked less enthused but she was coming.
"Yeah, those were… good times…" I trailed and rubbed the back of my head.
"Cloud…" Weiss hissed.
"I'm literally doing my best." I whispered back.
I let them all march in front of me and I took up the distant rear. "Remember when Nora would demand that Ren make pancakes for her, she wouldn't eat the stuff they made for us on pancake mornings," Yang said. "Oh no. She had to have it Ren style."
I didn't much like to think about Ren and Nora. Maybe even less than I liked to think about Pyrrha and what could have been there. When she had kissed me she had meant it. My fault. All my fault.
Not that I was unhappy with my current situation. I walked behind my two girlfriends and their teammates and listened to them reminisce about times past with another team long dead.
"She always just liked him in that outfit, I thought," Weiss said as we made our way up to the dinning hall.
"I didn't think it was about the pancakes. Just Ren's attention," Ruby murmured. "She liked having his attention."
"And they never got the chance to… well you know. Figure the other person out fully," Blake said. "I'd like to say it was obvious what they felt, but it never came from their lips."
"We'll never know, now." I cut in. I realized my mistake when they all turned to look at me. "I mean Nora was asking me for advice on how to get with him. And he was asking me for the same thing. They just…" I killed them. "Ran out of time," I finished. I tried to shake it off and come up with something less depressing to say.
Yang read me though.
"What about Pyrrha? We all knew that she liked you," Yang said. "You're quite the lucky guy looking at things like that."
"I never knew. Not until it was too late," I told her.
"Is there a story to that too?" Blake asked a touch sardonic.
We lined up and got our dinners. I tried to shake my somber mood off but couldn't quite manage it.
"She kissed me before she went and fought Cinder. Then she died."
"Cloud… your life sucks," Yang said as we sat at the table. It felt like there were three missing spots where I sat off to one side of the other four.
I looked at her in shock. "Um…"
"I'm not trying to make you feel bad or anything but you have to admit that your life does suck," Yang said quickly.
"I'm not sure whether to be offended or…"
"Not offended. You have to agree that your life so far has been a series of unfortunate events," Yang pointed out. "You got born, stuck at Beacon where you sucked, Pyrrha died, then Nora and Ren died."
"And it keeps coming," I agreed at last. "Doesn't seem like there's much I can do to get away from it sometimes. I mean I've had the occasional bright spot, all of Beacon was good, I think, but for the most part…" I trailed and shook my head. "What about you girls. It couldn't have all been easy for you either. Yang, you lost your arm for crying out loud."
"Yeah but I didn't kill my friends."
"Yang!" Weiss hissed.
"No, no. Weiss she's right. I fucked up."
"It wasn't your fault," Ruby said tenderly. She reached over to me but I rejected her touch for a moment. I didn't want the things she felt for me at that second. The purity burned me.
"Disagree. But that's not the point. It still happened to me. Is this really the first time we've all spent time together since Beacon fell? At least of those of us that remain?" I asked. At least of those of us I didn't let die, more like.
"Happy reunion," Blake muttered over her dinner.
"I'll cheers to that." Yang held out her glass. I clanked it with mine.
"So much has happened," Weiss said. "Even since that time Ren told us we had all grown so much. And of course you weren't there for that, Blake. I'm sure he would have told you that you had grown too."
"We've all changed. Some of us even changed our names," Blake murmured.
"Hard to imagine things will stay the same as they are now. I mean, I can't imagine working for Ironwood forever," I said. "Things are just going to keep changing."
"Hey, maybe you'll get some good changes out of this one," Yang cheered optimistically.
"Hey, I doubt it." I chuckled. "All things serious though I got Ruby and Weiss. How much better can I expect things to get for me? This is probably the high point of my life."
"You think something bad is going to happen?" Ruby asked.
"I know it will. That's how my life goes, up for a bit then down. Probably run into my sisters or something else awful and then caput."
"Well, family is just like that," Weiss said. I nodded but everybody else at the table shook their heads.
"Your two families are like that," Blake returned. "You leave my family out of this. My family is fantastic."
"Samesies," Yang threw in. "Yeah it's complicated but it's not hostile, well maybe not."
"I suppose we wouldn't know," Weiss murmured. "My father, well, don't even get me started."
"Same but for my momma." I held my glass to my lips. "She's such a bitch. You ever feel like literally every problem on the planet is your mom's fucking fault?" I took a long drink.
Yang laughed at that. "You're in my club on that one."
And Weiss gave a small giggle behind her hand. Blake smiled at me but Ruby just gave me that old worried look.
She reached out and put her palm on my thigh. A small comfort in a big world.
"Well not everyone has the mommy issues that you do. Some of us have our very own mom issues," Yang said.
I nearly spat out my drink. "What? What is it?" Ruby asked.
"I forgot to tell you all. I ran into Raven fucking Branwen when I was on the lamb with Neo checking out Merlot's laboratory in Anima."
"Well did you get her?" Yang asked her tone low and sarcastic.
"She teleported away before I could kill her. Sorry? Or not sorry. Whichever is best."
"Eh that's fine," Yang waved a hand. "She's bound to be slippery. Not sure if anyone will be able to catch her and put her down. She's a coward. She'd probably just run from you the next time you meet. If you run into her again, that is."
"I was sure to cut her nice and good for you, Yang."
"Oh is that why you did it?"
"Not really. I was sort of just pissed off at what I'd found in the lab. Needed a good target and she was just kinda there, I guess."
"Now that I get," Yang pointed at me with her glass hand. "Trust me on that one."
"Fair cop," I returned. Ruby was rubbing my thigh in a little circle and looking up at my face.
It felt good. Talking felt good. I was glad they dragged me out into this. I sighed and reclined. If only life could stay like this forever…

Enhancing Accessibility with ADA Approved Detectable Warning Surfaces
In the realm of accessibility and safety, ADA approved detectable warning surfaces play a pivotal role in creating inclusive environments for all. These tactile paving solutions are designed to assist individuals with visual impairments, promoting safe navigation and independence. In this article, we will delve into the significance of ADA approved detectable warning surfaces and explore their various applications.
Understanding ADA Approved Detectable Warning Surfaces
ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant detectable warning surfaces are specialized tactile tiles or panels installed on pedestrian pathways, transit platforms, and other public spaces. These surfaces feature a distinct pattern of raised domes or truncated domes, providing a tactile indicator for individuals with visual impairments. The purpose of these detectable warnings is to alert pedestrians about upcoming changes in the walking environment, such as approaching intersections, transit platform edges, or hazardous areas.
Key Features and Benefits
1. Tactile Guidance:
ADA approved detectable warning surfaces offer tactile feedback to individuals with visual impairments, guiding them safely through urban environments. The raised domes can be felt underfoot, alerting pedestrians to changes in their path.
2. Durability and Weather Resistance:
Constructed from durable materials, these surfaces are designed to withstand the rigors of various weather conditions. This ensures their longevity and effectiveness in providing reliable guidance year-round.
3. Compliance with ADA Standards:
Strict adherence to ADA standards is essential for ensuring that detectable warning surfaces meet the required specifications. This compliance guarantees that the installations are effective and meet the needs of individuals with disabilities.
4. Versatile Applications:
ADA approved detectable warning surfaces find applications in a wide range of settings, including sidewalks, crosswalks, transit platforms, and pedestrian ramps. Their versatility makes them a crucial element in creating universally accessible environments.
The Installation Process
The installation of ADA approved detectable warning surfaces involves careful planning and execution to ensure optimal functionality. Professionals follow specific guidelines to determine the appropriate location, spacing, and alignment of these surfaces, taking into account the needs of pedestrians with visual impairments.
Conclusion
Incorporating ADA approved detectable warning surfaces into public spaces is a proactive step towards fostering inclusivity. By providing tactile guidance to individuals with visual impairments, these surfaces contribute to the creation of safer and more accessible communities. Whether in bustling urban centers or quiet suburban areas, the implementation of these surfaces reflects a commitment to making public spaces welcoming for everyone.

Independent study
Come to your Senses: Investigate your own senses. Focus on the sense of smell, taste, hearing and touch (not vision).
Currently, as Im writing this I am sitting in my cold, and damp Wellington flat. I am sitting on my couch in my lounge. I am going to investigate my senses from where I am sitting. ( I always sit here while I do my design work). I have never thought of my surrounding in any other way than “just my flat” and never thought much about my surroundings in a deep sensory way. Im excited.
Smell -
I can smell my flatmates cooking their vegan hello fresh nachos. Along with the dusty curtains to my left, and a hint of the flowery perfume I put on this morning, which has now gone stale.
Taste -
I can’t describe the taste in my mouth… its just my spit.. I haven’t eaten anything in over an hour now and Its hard to describe this taste because I am so used to it.
Sound-
I can hear my flatmates food sizzle and the crunch of their coin chip packet, along with the occasional banging of the spatular on the edge of the pan. I can hear the fridge open and close and the sticking together of the magnets. I can hear the eco of our wooden floor under their feet as-well as feeling the vibrations each step makes.
The details of a touch/haptic/tactile experience-
Im currently holding my laptop on my lap. The metal was cold and hard at the beginning of my sit but is now warm and comfortable. I can feel the fan from my laptop spinning and vibrating my laptop against my thighs. My fingers on my keyboard feel a-little greasy and warn now. My track pad has a small blog of hardened glue on it and I can feel it every time I move my mouse. It feels sharp and hard.
2. Undertake some online research to learn about terms like proprioception, body awareness, haptic, equilibrioception, mechanoreception, balance, vibration.
Proprioception/ noun.
Perception or awareness of the position and movement of the body.
Proprioception refers to the body's ability to perceive its own position in space. Such as: Knowing whether feet are on soft grass or hard concrete, without looking (even while wearing shoes). Activities which strengthen you proprioception-crawling, push-ups, or squats. The sense though which we perceive the position and movement of our body, including our sense of equilibrium and balance, senses that depend on the notion of force.
Body awareness.
Body awareness is the internal understanding of where the body is in space. Body awareness is highly influenced by proprioceptive processing, the sensory information one receives from the movement and force of muscles and joint groups.
A person's understanding of his or her own body parts and their capability of movement.
Haptic.
Haptic perception is the process of recognizing objects through touch. It involves a combination of somatosensory perception of patterns on the skin surface (e.g., edges, curvature, and texture) and proprioception of hand position and conformation. Haptics is the science and technology of transmitting and understanding information through touch. “haptic” means anything relating to the sense of touch. (It's derived from the Greek word for touch.) Haptic can be used in design! Such as being used to engage people's sense of touch to enhance the experience of interacting with onscreen interfaces. For example, when an Apple Pay transaction is confirmed, the system plays haptics in addition to providing visual and auditory feedback.
Equilibrioception/sense of balance.
Is one of the physiological senses. It allows humans and animals to walk etc. without falling. Some animals are better in this than humans, for example allowing a cat (as a quadruped using its inner ear and tail) to walk on a thin fence.
This is the same as when you pedal your bike. The speed of the tires on your bike allows it to balance.
mechanoreception.
A mechanoreceptor, also called mechanoceptor, is a sensory cell that responds to mechanical pressure or distortion. There are four main types of mechanoreceptors in glabrous, or hairless, mammalian skin: lamellar corpuscles (Pacinian corpuscles), tactile corpuscles (Meissner's corpuscles), Merkel nerve endings, and bulbous corpuscles.
Balance/noun.
a state of equilibrium or equipoise; equal distribution of weight, amount, etc. something used to produce equilibrium; counterpoise. mental steadiness or emotional stability; habit of calm behavior, judgment, etc. a state of bodily equilibrium: He lost his balance and fell down the stairs.
Vibration/noun.
Vibratory sensation is the sense of vibration, and may refer to: Vibration as a modality of cutaneous receptors (on the skin), referred to as pallesthesia. Hearing, which is sensation of air vibrations.
Select 1x and design an exercise and then do it. The subject can be either yourself or someone you know - record observations, your/their experience, what did you notice.
Proprioception- brainstorm.
Investigation 1 Proprioception
Sensory information you are receiving from your muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
Using your muscles scenes to control your muscles to keep you upright. For examples-walking on sand. Your muscles are adapting to an environment where you aren’t walking on a firm service and your muscles send information to your brain to tell you the position of your ankles and your knees.
(Blind people rely on proprioception sense quite a lot.)
Everyday activity-turning the lights of in my room ( so I can’t see) relying on my Proprioception to find my door handle…or to walk to my bathroom. I will be replying on the information my brain is getting about where my arm is and where i’m walking. Proprioception is what will be giving me this information.
Recorded observations, your/their experience, what did I notice.
I asked my flatmate Ava to try find my doorknob while in the dark and blindfolded. She found this task easy as she knew which location/height my door handle was at but I observed the way she walked and put her arm up infant of her. This was interesting as she walked much slower and was unsure of herself. I noticed she was moving her feet in a way that she was almost using them to make sure she didn’t have anything in front of her such as a step. Her arms went up infant of her straight away as she was using them as a guide as-well. She demonstrated proprioception during this activity.
Resource task.
Browse through the online resources below, select 1 and be prepared to share your findings in a group discussion for next week.

“In The Invisible Collection art-lovers describe their favorite works of art. Originally created by Mediamatic Amsterdam, the project aimed to help the visually impaired to imagine works of art based on audio descriptions by art experts. In 2019, Marres developed a new version of The Invisible Collection, in which we started to collect stories about art (broadly defined) by non-art experts.”
I think this is an amazing project-this is based around the sense of hearing/sound. Art is meant to be enjoyed by all and when you can’t see it or feel it, It must make it extremely difficult for the visually impaired to enjoy art. Using this method is extremely beneficial and can create a sense of the artwork in the minds of visually impaired. By being able to hear how people describe the art people may be able to envision their on interpretation of the artwork. I would defiantly recommend this source to anyone exploring sound as their sense as it gives an insight into how much people you can’t see rely on this sense.

Kate McLean’s Sensory Maps
Kate McLean’s maps are visually stunning, peppered with colourful dots and morphing concentric lines. They could almost be galaxies. In actuality, they are Smell Maps, plotting data from various cities that visualises the distinctive smells from different neighbourhoods. Kate McLean generates this data by conducting “smell walks” throughout the cities she maps, asking participants to record odours and their location, intensity, description, and associations. Smells like “canal,” “leafy fresh rain,” and “laundry” are each given a colour and are indicated by dots on the maps. The distorted concentric rings depict the smell’s intensity and range as they're carried by wind, diluted by range, and mixed with neighbouring smells. By plotting her experiential data, Kate makes smell visual and geographical, and makes a case for what information designer Giorgia Lupi calls “soft data.” “Using humans as sensors is a method that aggregates personal insight”.

The 6 best reasons to use tactile indicators at your space
Tactile indicators warn people about hazards and offer directional assistance. Let us find out why you should use tactile indicators at your space.
Assist pedestrians - Tactile Indicators are made from various materials installed onto the ground surface consisting of a series of raised Strips and Studs. The purpose of Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (TGSI) is to assist pedestrians who are blind, or who have vision impairment. Tactile Indicators are mostly used as a means for alerting people who are handicapped or physically challenged for offering them navigational information so that they can continue to move ahead with safety.
Warn about hazards – Tactile indicators come with warning of hazards and directional information to aid pedestrians. Apart from this, these help pedestrians to navigate the sidewalks of the roads and the sidewalks of Public Buildings. For outdoor applications Polyurethane tactiles or Stainless Steel tactiles are highly recommended.
Aligns with the ground surface - This is achieved by aligning the raised Strips and Studs pattern of the Tactile Indicators on the ground surface, enabling blind pedestrians to feel the textural changes through their feet or with a cane.
Offers colour contrast - Pedestrians with limited vision use the color contrast between the Tactile Indicators and ground surface to detect the modules visually. This is a step towards making the shared space much more convenient for the people who are visually impaired. At Dutco Tennant LLC our team of experts always looks for helping the clients to grow and develop. We believe that laying out tactile ground surface indicators needs a lot of expertise and precision. The raised surface helps them for feeling the difference in the texture of the surface over which they are traveling and also indicating any alert.
Identify public access facilities - TGSI are predominantly used to lead pedestrians to and identify public access facilities such as intersection curb ramps, pedestrian crossings, stairs, lifts, ramps and escalators.
