it's day four? i think? time is slippery at the best of it, and this has been, well, not even vaguely the worst. just weird.

it's a middle class neighbourhood, that i can no longer tell the signifiers as to if it's slouching up or sliding down, or is just resolutely planted. the houses all feel huge. but they're falling apart in pieces too. too old and expensive to maintain. paint flaked off. paneling removed in some half-finished reno leaving insulation out to the elements. a garage wiv a caved-in roof being eaten by moss. if you took away the maintained lawns, this could fill in nicely for a low-budget early-years post-apocalyptica.

there are many Trump-Vance signs; a smaller, but not insignificant number of thin blue line American flags. there are so, so many American flags. this irrepressible need to remind ourselves we are here, and our claim to the land is valid, i guess.

my uncle speaks wiv praise veiling some mixture of jealousy and cupidity about the Indian casinos. i half listen, to be polite, both halves. if i gave him my full attention, we'd probably wind up fighting, and there's still two weeks left to this trip.

he is over to the house constantly. his girlfriend can't get my name right. not even a mispronunciation, which would be understandable, but not even in the same linguistic ball park.

neither of them has managed to get my pronouns right even 5% of the time. which comes up a lot. people talk about me as if i weren't here. but they talk about everyone as if they weren't right there in the room.

the degree of love-in-shape for military and country is, frankly, bewildering. they prattle on the telly about how wonderful it is that Harris is getting even the younger generation to be proud of being American again, how she's taking back American Exceptionalism from being a stigma to the Dems. it is hard to repress a shudder of disgust.

da watches CNN constantly. CNN and golf. CNN and golf and Yellowstone. i do not understand what Yellowstone is. rah rah cowboy bullshite. not even fun, dyke cowboys. just Kevin Costner. maybe? i don't know. some actor i look at and my brain says "Kevin Costner," and for all i know my brain is right.

i discouver i loathe television. this is not a nose-in-the-air snob there is better to be had in [insert media x]. television, for me, is un-unwatchable. i demands my attention, and i seem helpless to not give it. the word that comes to me is resent. i resent its insistence. i resent that i am incapable of being in the same room as it and not giving it my near undivided attention. i spend most of my time on the back porch. it's quiet, there are squirrels sometimes.

CNN was banging on this morning about some hostages what got waxed in Gaza. it felt like hours. how sad for the families. how callow and vile of Hamas to murder, the word murder was stressed, them. not so much time given over to the hostage of Palestine. the families burying loved ones for almost a year now. daily. the takeaway seemed to be, at least, that the military activity was a failed path, so i mean, i don't know. like, i'm glad their point is (i guess?) maybe Israel shouldn't be bombing the ever-living fuck out of Gaza, but less because it is, in fact, evil, and more because it wouldn't secure the release of the hostages. which, right for the wrong reasons here is almost as infuriating as completely wrong. i had to keep leaving the living room on account of my blood pressure was twisting itself up dangerously high, so it's possible i missed some threads.

being back has been weird so far, i guess. as isolating in its own ways as being in Tokyo running myself ragged was. maybe i'd feel more of a pull to come back to the States if i were visiting somewhere bigger, busier, more in the mix, so maybe this was the best place to be? i don't think i'll feel the pangs of homesickness when its over.

i feel like this is all playing in a minor key, and i don't want to give the entirely wrong impression. the break away from the constant worry of how am i going to make tomorrow work. how am i going to fit a life into the scant time left from maintaining the capability for living. being away from all that has be an immense help. i feel distance from my family, but i know that's on me more than it is on them. they love their weird daughter more than she allows herself to feel or take part in, and i deeply appreciate that. i'm looking forward to seeing Jilly more than i can express. so, like, there's a lot of good to this trip.

but damned if i don't feel up to my tits in the uncomfortable weirdness that is the US.

Hey everyone! So this is my first time writing fanfiction for the Camp Camp webseries (If you haven’t watched, please do as it is amazing) and Makki is probably hands down one of my favourite ships! I hope you like this and enjoy! A huge thank you for the requests that were sent in and I’ll try to tackle those ones as soon as possible!

"Hey Max? Do you think that aliens exist?" asked Nikki as they stared up at the night sky. Max raised an eyebrow. "You're asking if I think extraterrestrial life exists? Where's Neil when you need him?" The two campers were sitting on a hill a few meters away from camp. Neil wasn't feeling well so he went to bed early after dinner. Max and Nikki were technically breaking the rules by being out of their tents at night but they had no plans for anarchy so there was no harm done.

It was a clear night and because of the lack of light pollution at Camp Campbell, the stars were bright over their heads. "I feel like Neil would have a few arguments against aliens existing-" Nikki began but was interrupted by a squeal from a bush behind them. "Did someone say Neil?" an obnoxious yet familiar voice giggled and out popped Tabi, her one eye wide as she looked for Neil. "Oh fuck," Max groaned as Sasha and Erin followed Tabi the two glaring at Tabi. "Seriously Tabi why the hell did you blow our cover-?" Sasha trailed off as she saw Max and Nikki together and she smirked. "Well won't you look at the two love birds! I gotta say Max, I thought you had better taste but clearly you don't," said Sasha with a flip of her hair and her accent ringing in Max's ears. Max heard Nikki growl angrily next to him. "If better taste meant someone like you, then sorry Sasha not I don't like leftovers." Sasha went red with anger and then looked at Nikki with a smirk. "Tell me Nikki, have you had your first kiss yet? Probably not because no one wants to kiss your ugly ass face." Nikki felt her cheeks go red with embarrassment. The flower scouts had teased her relentlessly when she told them that she hadn't had her first kiss the year before and it had become a running joke whenever they saw her. Nikki never wanted to admit that she was sorta jealous of the girls who had their first kisses. Ered had her first kiss already and even Nerris had gotten her first kiss! Max looked at Nikki and immediately saw the reaction on her face when Sasha had mentioned her first kiss. He had to do something to stand up to these girls. "It gotta say Sasha, I thought you'd know by now," Max said with a roll of his eyes. The flower scout narrowed her eyes. "Know what?" she demanded and gasped when Max wrapped her arm around Nikki and gave her a smirk. "Nikki and I are dating. And the only reason Nikki hasn't had her first kiss yet is because I was planning to do it tonight but you morons interrupted us." Nikki couldn't believe the words coming out of Max's mouth and she knew that she had to say something to make it seem realistic. "Yeah Sasha, our evening was going so great but then you just had to butt in. Oh and be a dear and remind me who your first kiss was? What was his name? Mark Plonsky?"

Erin and Tabi gasped and Sasha went beet-red and growled at Nikki. "How the fuck do you know!?" she screeched. "I have my sources. Now, run back to your camp otherwise I swear, the whole flower scout troop 789 will know you haven't actually kissed Brad Spencer by tomorrow morning." Sasha screamed in frustration and stormed off with Erin and Tabi tailing behind her.

“Sasha? Mark Plonsky was your first kiss? He's so gross!” Tabi said disgustingly.

Once the flower scouts voices faded Nikki sighed in relief.

“Damn, I wasn't sure if that was the right name but looks like I was right!” Nikki said in relief.

“Who’s Mark Plonsky? He sounds like a weirdo,” Max said as he looked at Nikki in curiosity.

“Only the next grossest thing to Jeremy Fartz! He was this super gross guy who lived from around the corner at the flower scouts campsite and he flirted with every girl.”

“Wait, then why would Sasha kiss him if he’s that fucking gross?”

Nikki was giggling with excitement as she continued the story.

“I’m getting to that part! So one night we were all playing truth or dare. I was forced to be there but I actually ended up enjoying my time there since all the dares I got were super easy like eat a whole bucket of chocolate pudding or go skinny dipping. Then it got to the truth part of the game. The question was ‘Nikkiiii, have you eva had your first kisss?’” Nikki mimicked Sasha and Max laughed.

“I hadn’t had my first kiss and I told the truth since I didn’t see the reason to lie. Suddenly I was the laughing stock, all because I hadn’t had my first kiss. Sasha and the rest of the flower scouts taunted me constantly about it and still talk about it to this day. But! This is where Mark Plonsky comes into the picture! The day before I was run out of the camp, I was breaking the rules and going for a night walk when I heard noises from behind the bushes. I overheard Sasha saying things like ‘You better make this good Plonsky! I didn’t pay you to kiss me for nothing!”

Max’s jaw dropped. “She paid someone to kiss her? Just because she wanted her first kiss?”

Nikki nodded enthusiastically.

“She had been bragging at the truth or dare that she had kissed some hot guy named Brad Spencer who was a model and how pathetic I was for not having my first kiss yet. So finding out that her real first kiss was Mark Plonsky was Christmas and Halloween all rolled into one! I never told anyone because I knew there would be a right time to use it, like now! Hopefully they back off of me now! Plus Tabi can’t keep her mouth shut at all, so Sasha should be suffering for the next few weeks.” Max stared at the green-haired girl in wonder.

“Nik, if I had known how devious you were, I’d be a little scared,” Max grinned and she laughed.

I’m only like that with the people I don’t like. So don’t worry Max, you’re in my good books.”

Max realized his arm was still firmly wrapped around Nikki’s shoulder and he thought about the way Nikki had reacted with the first kiss comment from Sasha.

“Nikki...you haven’t had your first kiss…”

Nikki sighed, “Yes Max, I haven’t and I don’t need another person reminding me.

“No! It’s not that...it’s uh...well...a first kiss is supposed to mean something right? Well that’s what all the movies say…” he mumbled.

“Yeah? So?” she asked.

“Nikki, listen...I know that it should be special. And I guess I want that for you….”

“Max, what are you trying to say?”

“Nikki. Can I kiss you?”

Her jaw dropped and she went bright red.

“Y...you want to...kiss...” she stammered and Max instantly regretted what he said.

“It was a thought! A thought that has now left the fucking atmosphere!” Max rambled trying to save the situation. “Me? Kiss you? What? That’s just fuc-”

Max didn’t finish his sentence when he suddenly felt a pair of cool lips on his. His eyes widened in shock because holy sweet fucking hell Nikki was kissing him.

Thank God Gwen forced me to watch all those chick flicks with her ,he thought as he remembered to breathe and gently touched Nikki’s hand. He closed his eyes and relaxed.

After a few seconds, Nikki broke off the kiss and she opened her eyes slowly. Panic suddenly took over.

“Sorry! I just went for it and you asked but I didn’t really say anything and oh my word Max, I’m so sorry! We can still be friends and pretend like this never happened! I’m pretty sure that Campbell must have a memory-erasing thing somewhere-”

Max gently kissed her and she froze. He gave her a rare genuine smile and shrugged his shoulders.

“Nikki, it’s okay,” and the girl sagged in relief at his words. “I’m okay….are you?”

Nikki nodded shyly and she saw Max’s hand squeeze hers.

“Well at least my first kiss wasn’t paid for…” she grinned and he followed.

“And it wasn’t with some random gross guy,” he added and Nikki laughed.

“Oh and can we...keep this between us? I don’t really want Gwen to be smirking at me or Nerf singing that annoying ‘Max and Nikki sitting in a tree’ song,” Max groaned and Nikki smiled.

“Obviously! I’m not like Sasha to kiss and tell. And Max...you made it special...thanks,” she said with a blush.  

Max took off his hoodie and wrapped it around Nikki and the two looked up at the stars with their hands intertwined, a memory made between them that would always stay in their hearts.

BDRRM KWENTUHAN with one of the Barangay Councilor of Brgy. Dalig in Cardona Rizal

Welcome to my Blog! This part is where my conversation with one of the barangay kagawad in Brgy. Dalig in Cardona, Rizal. where in She answered question regarding the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in the Barangay. Hope you enjoy reading our conversation!! 

Hello po! Ako po si Althea Sta. Ana, isang estudyante mula sa University of Santo Tomas. ito po ay para lamang sa Modulo ng aking NSTP. Maraming Salamat po Gng. Nikki Perpetua at tinanggap niyo ang aking pakikipanayam sa inyo.

Una ko pong mga katanungan ay tungkol sa Hazard Identification o Pagtukoy ng mga Bantang Panganib.

1. Ano-ano ang mga kalamidad/hazards na tumama sa ating barangay? Paki-kwento.

        Maraming kalamidad o hazards ang tumama na sa ating barangay, tulado noong Bagyong Ondoy bumaha ng sobra dito sa ating barangay dahil sa pag-apaw ng tubig sa ilog sa tulay at ang pagiging barado nito dahil sa mga basurang tinatapon dito. Isa pa ay pagkakaroon ng masang-sang na amoy nang dahil sa mga nabubulok na basura na nakatambak sa labas ng kani-kanilang bahay at ang mga basurang hindi nakokoleta kapag oras ng pagkuha. 

2. Ano ang iba pang mga panganib na nakaapekto ng matindi sa ating pamayanan? 

        Ay ang pagbaha, paglaganap ng sakit tulad ng dengue, lagnat at ang hindi magandang amoy ng naiipon na mga nabubulok na basura sa bawat labas ng bahay ng ating mga kasapi sa barangay .

3. Paano nalalaman na may parating na bantang sakuna? (maaring siyentipiko at/o lokal na palatandaan at babala)

         Ito’y nalalaman sa pakikipagtulungan sa punong mayor at pamahalaan lalo na sa NDRRMO ng Cardona na sila talaga ang nakakaalam kung paparating na ang isang sakuna sa bayan na makakaapekto sa bawat barangay dito sa cardona.

4. Gaano kadalas ito nangyayari sa ating pamayanan? 

         Ito’y nangyayari sa pamayanan siguro ay dalawang beses sa isang buwan, tulad ng pag apaw ng ilog sa tulay na nagiging sanhin ng pagbaha sa kaliwatot at lambingan dahil sila ang malapit dito. Kaya umaapaw ang tubig sa ilog dahil sa malakas na ulan at sa mga basura na napupunta sa ilog. Ang pagkakaroon ng masang-sang amoy dahil sa mga hindi nakokolekta na basura ay araw-araw dahil sa hindi pagsunod sa oras ng pagkuha ay naapektuhan ang lahat.

Ang mga susunod naman pong katanungan ay ukol sa Vulnerability, Elements and People at Risk Assessment po

1. Saan ang may pinakamatinding mapipinsala? Bakit kaya ang mga lugar na ito ang may pinakamatindi ang pinsala?

          Pinaka matinding mapipinsala ay lahat ng malapit sa ilog lalo na ang mga nakatira sa manukan, kaliwatot at lambingan. Katulad nga ng sabi ko sila ang pinaka malapit sa ilog at ang mga lugar na yon ay mababa kaya kapag umapaw ang tubig sa ilog ay naapektuhan sila agad.

2. Kung tumama ang mga bantang panganib, sinu-sino kaya sa ating lugar ang pinaka-maaapektuhan? Tukuyin ang ilang mga tao. Bakit kaya sila ang pinaka-maaapektuhan? 

         Ang pinaka-maapektuhan ay mga taong nakatira mismo sa tabi ng ilog. Mga pamilyang nakatira tulad ng mga Dinisio, Reyes at iba pa. sila dahil napakalapit talaga ng kanilang bahay sa ilog maaring isang metro ang layo ng kanilang tirahan sa ilog. 

3. Ano kaya ang epekto ng pagtama ng sakuna sa mga tao, pangkabuhayan, serbisyong panlipunan at imprakstruktura ng pamayanan?

         Epekto nito sa mga tao ay hindi alam kung kaylan maging handa sa sakunang ito. Isa pa ay maaring walang tao sa kanilang mga bahay kapag tumama ang sakuna. Sa pangkabuhayan naman ay maaring masira nito ang mga paninda ng mga may tindahan o sari-sari store sa kanilang tahanan, maaring may masira ng importanteng document na kailangan sa kanilang pangkabuhayan. Sa serbisyong panlipunan naman ay maapektuhan ang pagpasok ng mga nagtratrabaho sa pamahaalang bayan sa imprasktruktura naman ay may masisira dahil sa sakunang ito lalo na kung ang mga materyales na ginamit ay hindi ganon kaganda at matibay

4. Saan ang pinakaligtas na lugar sa pamayanan kung may bantang panganib na dumating? 

         Pinakaligtas na lugar sa pamayanan ay ang matataas na lugar na malayo din sa panganib dahil wala mababa lamang an gating bayan at pamayanan kaya eto ang isang pwede maging lugar na mayroon kaligtasan.

5. Saan naman ang pinakadelikado na lugar sa pamayanan kung may bantang panganib na dumating? 

       Pinakadelikado ay siympre ay malapit sa ilog at kung saan naiimbak ang mga basurang nabubulok na mayroon masang-sang na amoy.

6. Anu-ano ang mga suliranin/problema na kinakaharap ng barangay na humahadlang sa pag-unlad ng pamayanan at pumipigil sa pagbangon mula sa pagkasalanta ng mga kalamidad?

         Siguro ang hindi pagsunod ng mga ka-barangay natin sa kung paano dapat sinesegrate ang nabubulok, hindi nabubulok at ang mga gamit na pwede pang gamitin muli. Hindi sa pagsunod sa tamang oras sa pagliabas ng kanilang basura kapag ito ay kinukuha na ng mga nangongolekta.

Ito na ho ang huli kong mga katanungan sainyo ukol sa Capacity and Disaster Management Assessment

 1. Ano-ano ang ginagawa ng pamayanan at barangay sa paghahanda/pag-iwas at kung sakaling may mga bantang panganib tulad ng bagyo, baha, lindol na dumating? 

             Madaming ginagawa ang pamayanan at ang barangay tulad ng pag-aanounce na kelangan nilang mag-ayos ng mga gamit at kelangan umalis sa kanilang tirahan kapag may malakas na bagyong dadating na makakaapekto talaga sa kanila. Isa pa ay ang pagkakaroon ng alarm kung magkakaroon ng baha sa lugar ata ang pagkakaroon ng mga seminar o talk sa bawat barangay kung saan inaanyayahan ang lath na dumalo dahil dito natuturo ang mga dapat nilang unang gawin kapag nagkakaroon o magkakaroon ng bagyo, baha o lindol na dadating sa pamayanan o barangay

2. Ano ang nilalaman ng plano ng Barangay pagdating ng sakuna? (kung kaya hingin o hiramin ang BDRRM Plan, Hazard and Safety Map, Barangay Projects for different sectors like Youth, Women, Children, Elderly, Poor, PWD etc.)

           Ang nilalaman ng plano ay ang mga lugar kung saan pwedeng pumunta ang mga tao sa barangay kapag may sakuna. Dito nakalatag ang mga dapat gawin ng bawat kagawag, mga tanod, mga tao at lahat kapag talagang dadating na ang sakunang sinasabi. May mga proyekto ding nakalatag ang barangay at ang sanggunian ng kabatan tulad ng pagkakaroon ng once a month na paglilinis ng mga kanal, paglilinis ng kapaligiran at pagsusunog o pagsisiga ng mga natutuyong dahoon na nakuha mula sa mga bakuran ng mga kabarangay. Isa pa ay ang pagpapausok para hindi magkaroon ng dengue ang mga taong nakatira sa barangay.

3. Sa kasalukuyan, anong programa, sistema, gamit, pasilidad o kakayahan meron ang barangay na makakatulong sa mga tao , serbisyo at kabuhayan na makabangon mula sa epekto ng kalamidad? Isa-isahin natin.

         Siguro ay ang paglilinis ng kapaligaran na makaktulong sa mga tao dahil kapag malinis ang kapaligiran ay magiging maayos ang pamumuhay at hindi magkakaroon ng sakit. Isa pa ay ang pagpapausok nga para mawala ang mga lamok na nakatira sa mga naimbak na tubig sa likod bahay. Barangay hall, barangay healt center ay maar imaging evacuation ng mga mamayan kapag tumama ang isang sakuna at bukas silang tatanggapin ng barangay dahil sila ay parte nito. Ang pagbibigay ng mga relif good o tulog upang maayos o malinis ang kani kanilang bahay pagkatapos ng sakuna. 

4. Sino ang mga taong namamahala sa paghanda, pagharap at pagtugon sa kalamidad? 

       Ang mga taong namamahala ay ang pamahalaaang bayan, mga barangay captain, mga kagawad bawat barangay at pati ang mga tao na nasa barangay dahil maaring sa kanila na mismong manggaling ang paghanda sa mga kalamidad na mararamasan ng bayan at ng barangay. 

Maraming Salamat po sa pagsagot ng mga katanungan ko. may isa pa po ako gusto, maari niyo po ba ako samahan upang ikutin ang Barangay at makita po ang mga ginagawa ng barangay ukol sa paghahanda sa kalamidad.
