The swelling had finally gone down. Even still, Lee felt like his eye had a slight throb to it, though it was most likely in his mind (or, at least, that was what he was telling himself). It subsided a bit when he closed his eyes, and so he had no issue doing so, leaning back into the seat of the train.
It had turned out to be mostly paperwork and stature, after all. He was a tall, broad Victor, and so the Vox's protocols had kicked into place, and with no one really around to vouch for him, Lee had been left in the cell for much longer than others. But eventually they got around to him, he was able to swear his allegiance or whatever, and he was allowed to continue with his life.
Or rather, he realized, to start it anew. There were no more Games to Mentor. He was hardly a Victor, now, even. He was... Lee Hatchett. And so when they had offered to let him simply... go home? He had leapt at the chance. He was on the first train to Seven that he could muster.
The door to the cabin slid open quietly, but not quiet enough to escape his notice. He cracked one eye open and his heart fell to his stomach. Alder Reid, who he had not seen since the attack. Alder Reid, who he had had zero information about since the Vox took over.
Alder Reid was alive.
Lee's arms were around Alder before his brain processed that he had stood, rushed forward, and started crying. Alder Reid was alive. "Alder," he gasped. "Alder. Alder... oh my god. Alder."

Week 6
(guess who was very distracted by secrets of the stars)
Tumblr media
Let's pick up where we left off after the Great Alder Elimination Incident
Scholar wins the mini challenge this episode by dressing Uxie up like a diva it's a hard canvas
Tumblr media
This episode's challenge is T H E B A L L
Our legends have to walk the runway on 3 different outfits the last one has to be self-made and the overall theme for this episode is b l u e
STEVEN CYRUS AND GRIMSLEY THIS TIME IS YOURS
Tumblr media
Steven and Cyrus of course EAT the blue themed challenge but we also have Peter Scholar Touya and N doing great overall lots of strong performances in this challenge
Grimsley despite wearing mostly blue only does fiiiiiiine which in a stacked group like this still makes him third worst
Meanwhile Yuki continues his streak of being weak on the runway and Agni also does a bad job which makes sense since their signature color is red
No runway this time because the runway is the challenge
Tumblr media
Cyrus N and Touya are all safe despite doing great which goes to show that this is a very competitive episode
Also Scholar broke out of his bottom streak look at him GO
Tumblr media
SCHOLAR GETS HIS FIRST WIN
HE'S SO BACK
Peter's continuing his frontrunner streak as well and Steven's back in the top after his brush with elimination last episode
Tumblr media
The bottom 3 for this episode is very clear
Agni kinda stalled in this competition after their top 2 placement in ep2 but Yuki and Grimsley are both frontrunners
Then again Zinnia being a frontrunner meant nothing when Agni eliminated her
Tumblr media
Grimsley's safe because even though he did third worst there's still a very significant gap between him and the other two and with that we have Agni and Yuki in the bottom
Agni's a fearsome lipsync assassin with 6 wins under their belt but it wouldn't be wise to count Yuki out just yet when he's been good at basically everything
Tumblr media
BOP ALERT
youtube
this is one of my favorite chromatica songs it NEEDS chromatica ii for the transition
Tumblr media
oh they both did bad
It's the ball challenge so maybe they're both held back by their outfits but I will not forget this transgression against the diva Lady Gaga
Tumblr media
With that, Yuki stays because he has the superior track record
We lose Agni surprisingly early but they ARE a fearsome lipsync assassin so we'll be seeing them again very soon against Alder
Tumblr media
Meanwhile in Untucked Scholar roasts Grimsley for having a bad personality apparently and Grimsley gets offended for a hot minute but then he goes
Wait that's hot
And I respect him for that
Meanwhile Steven's bonding with his fellow soft boy Peter and he's also discussing with Cyrus who's the hottest guy in the season
Let's help them settle this discourse
Tumblr media
With Grimsley and Yuki both landing in the bottom this episode and Steven landing in the bottom the episode prior Peter's at number 1 as the frontrunner not having done a bad job at any of the episodes so far
Scholar's still in last place but he got a win at the right time and we saw Lynn start her season with the exact same track record only to win the entire thing so don't count him out just yet
Next time we have A L D E R V S A G N I

(Text ID: Daisy’s Flower Farm and Market)
This post serves as a more formal introduction to Daisy and her family! Meet Daisy (once again). Henry first meets her when her kids all become friends with Bendy. Henry is not the only parent (well, parent in the eyes of the toons) she knows, but Daisy sure is… obsessed with him. It almost makes him feel uncomfortable. While Henry is a short man, Daisy is huge! She has a surprisingly cheery and grandiose personality, considering her traditionalist beliefs on gender roles and being a toon sheep. She even heads her farm. All Henry knows about her husband is that he’s busy taking care of the baby, but even that’s odd considering the family’s vues.
She’s been pretty happy about his transformation. “You’re gonna fit in!” she keeps saying. But… something odd lies in her words. The way she looks at him. Henry sometimes feels like she’s… watching him. No, not just watching. Observing
And now: meet her kids:
Tumblr media
They’ve been shrunk down to 6 rather than 7. There used to be a black sheep in the family, but her role was absorbed by Ambrose (who kept his general personality) since he had no role in the story prior. I wanted every kid to have some type of purpose (minus Tulip, since she’s a literal baby), but especially the eldest three.
Alder and Aster are twins. Besides Daisy, they take charge of the family (especially Alder). Alder, the elder twin, is your typical farm boy. Strong, helpful, extroverted, and a little bit of a daredevil. But he's fiercely loyal to the farm and his family.
Aster is the younger twin. She's soft and loves all things traditionally feminine. Cooking, sewing, cleaning... It's almost weird. She's almost like a stereotype, and not in the way toons typically are. It feels like a distraction. Both she and Alder know a lot more than they let on. Especially since they're the only ones who follow their mother to the cellar.
Ambrose is a shy guy who's around the same age as Bendy. Out of everyone, he's the closest to Henry, and he's the second closest to Bendy. Everyone else in the family is outgoing, but he'd prefer to stick to the shadows and draw after farm work is done. Ambrose always wears a hat. When asked why, he just says, "My mama said I have to." Sometimes, he wonders if his family is as perfect as they seem.
Dahlia is Bendy's best friend. She's a cheeky prankster who's almost always snickering. Dahlia may be a bit younger than her best friend, but they mesh the best.
Oak is a toddler. He hasn't had the chance to develop much yet, but he's a curious little guy! Always sticking his nose in things. Daisy says he resembles his father to a T. When he grows up, he'd probably end up looking more like Aster than Alder ever did.
Tulip was born the same day Henry arrived. He'd call it a coincidence, but pregnancy doesn't work that way. Still, Daisy is eager to point it out.
Here's the first drawing of the sheep to show how they've changed:
Tumblr media
Tulip wasn't in this (baby), and the black sheep was excluded for story purposes. Sadly, she never got a design. Well, at least there was nothing to get attached to, haha!
You may be able to gather a couple of things from some of these changes. But, I won't say anything yet.
You can tell that I'm much better at doodling traditionally, lmao

Biddy Math
When a Biddy nears death and eventually dies, Alder takes those years back. (There is no sign in 1x3, 1x10, 2x1, or 2x8 that this strain is redistributed to the other Biddies when one of their own is injured or dies. They only take on stress that is directly inflicted upon Alder.)
Therefore, the bare minimum requirement for the Biddy program is that if one Biddy dies, Alder will not die just by taking on those years. Assuming an equal sharing of Alder's life force (not necessarily a safe one to make, given that the Marshal's setup is so different), then this means that Alder doubles her physical years when a Biddy dies. Therefore, the number of biddies is defined by what is half of life expectancy, plus some number of buffer years so that Alder isn't on death's door just from losing one Biddy.
Delicious numbers, analysis, and graphs under the cut. Click through to see exactly which years Alder probably increased the number of Biddies over time! Now with bonus "how much is Alder drinking" potshots!
To decide some things, we can bypass life expectancy at younger ages, because those numbers are the product of mortality rates, which include causes of death other than old age. Because in the Biddy process, people proceed directly to old age, we can look at life expectancy for people who already survived to that old age.
x = Alder's total age n = Total number of people sharing life force (number of biddies plus 1 for Alder herself) Alder's physical age = A = x/n L = life expectancy (most probable age of death) s = safety buffer L-s = Age at which a person is expected to still live for another s years L-s = The age Alder will become if a Biddy dies = 2A = 2x/n
For Life Expectancy numbers, I looked at the Human Mortality Database. Here is the full citation:
HMD. Human Mortality Database. Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (Germany), University of California, Berkeley (USA), and French Institute for Demographic Studies (France). Available at www.mortality.org. See also the methods protocol: Wilmoth, J. R., Andreev, K., Jdanov, D., Glei, D. A., Riffe, T., Boe, C., Bubenheim, M., Philipov, D., Shkolnikov, V., Vachon, P., Winant, C., & Barbieri, M. (2021). Methods protocol for the human mortality database (v6). Available online (needs log in to mortality.org).
For most all of the datasets I looked at, "Expected to live 5 more years" correlated to a ~10% mortality rate (that 1 in 10 people of that age died that year). So a 5 year safety buffer seems reasonable.
So, for example, I look at the US females dataset. I go to 2019 (the year the show started, and also to avoid the influence of the pandemic). In the dataset, the age at which they are expected to live 5 more years is 89. This is our (L-s) term. So, the physical age that Alder is safe to be at in 2019 is at most 89/2 = 44.5. (Lyne was 40 in 2019.)
If we assume that Alder was 18 years old when she signed the Salem Accords in 1692 (in order to codify conscription age to match hers), then in 2019 she is 345 years old. When we divide 345 by 44.5, to see how many total parties need to share those years equally, we get 7.625, which rounds up to 8. And well well well, that makes for Alder and 7 Biddies. Eliot did his math!
Something Eliot didn't quite do his math on, though, is his claim in After the Storm 1x3 that Biddies only tend to last 5-6 years. In 2019, Tally (somewhere between 18 and 19 years old) picking up 44.5 years upon getting Biddy'd means that she was physically…somewhere around 63 years old! In the US, 63 year ladies could expect to live another 23 years, to age 86! In order to get back down to the "less than 6 years to live as a Biddy" range, we would have to assume that the stress of military combat and also Alder's alcoholic liver would lop off another 17 years from their natural life expectancy. No I am not going to research how muchFine, let's find out how much Alder is drinking in order to destroy 20 year old candidates in 5-6 years.
Found an online calculator that cites this study:
Westman J, Wahlbeck K, Laursen TM, Gissler M, Nordentoft M, Hällgren J, Arffman M, Ösby U. Mortality and life expectancy of people with alcohol use disorder in Denmark, Finland and Sweden.; Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica; April 2015
For a person to start drinking at age 63 and shorten their lifespan from 86 to 69 years, Alder is pounding at least 9 doses a day (but that would also only be enough to kill one Biddy! do we need to multiply that by seven...). Per NIAAA, a dose is 0.6 ounces of pure alcohol, which averages 5 ounces of wine and um only 1.5 ounces (a shot glass) or less of liquors like whiskey.
Tumblr media
Alder famously ends up downing both of these glasses in this scene.
Tumblr media
Sarah. Sarah. How many fucking doses is that, Sarah!? ("the height of two fingers against a regular sized glass is about 2 fl oz", so these glasses are probably "neat" pours, and she took 4 ounces in the Petra scene, and 2 ounces above. But we also know from Tally that "she loves her wine" and probably has it daily during at least breakfast with Anacostia, if not also at all other scheduled meals.)
...Okay, crack tangent over. Biddy candidate age speculation! Well, we started this whole thing with the assumption that when Alder takes back her years from a Biddy, she basically becomes Biddy age, with 5 years ahead of her (matching the expected years of service that Eliot quoted, eh). Which means that, really, Biddy candidates following that pattern should just be Alder's physical age? Whomst 44 year old Biddy candidates lmao. And even if we include that extra 10 year buffer for Alder's alcoholic liver combat stress, the standard Biddy candidate (looking forward to only 5-6 years of service) would just be whatever is 10 years younger than Alder's physical age. In 2019 that would be at most 34 years old, not anything near conscript age.
Here's another analysis angle, because why not: If we assume that Alder is actually frozen in time and only the Biddies are ageing for her, then 7 biddies are ageing 1.143 years for every year. So they need to actually have 6 years left in them to live 5 years of real time. With that conservative 5 year estimate, the Biddy that died in 1x3 (in 2019) became a Biddy around 2014.
Going back to our mortality tables, in 2014, the age at which a US woman would have 6 years left is 87. If we just lop those 10 years of stress, 77. The age at which they would have 16 years left is 71, which demonstrates how causes of death not of old age like alcoholism come into play a lot more the younger we look. Or there's also a survival bias at play. But it would be real awkward if someone had a genetic/health issue where they would naturally die in their late 60s/early 70s, so they keeled over right after getting Biddy'd. I'm sure the candidate screening process is mostly about avoiding that. Still, in 2014 less than 2% of 71 year olds died, so.
Working backwards to lop off the 44.5 years of Alder's life they're carrying, then the recruitment candidates for that Biddy could have been anywhere from 26-31 years old (with the 10 extra stress years). If we don't, then back to the 40-47 year old range. So yes, Anacostia could have maybe been a viable Biddy candidate, at least on age alone?
The way these are all probabilities means that the stars might align to maximize the longer lifespan of an individual against the age at which they were recruited. If they were playing it real safe and going younger, then a Biddy could serve for 10 years before succumbing to old age. See again how Tally could have had multiple decades ahead of her as a Biddy. That doesn't seem to be the norm, if Eliot is saying that 5-6 is the expectation, but maybe Biddy lifespan increased over the years as life expectancy for the elderly rose.
Here's where it gets…tricky. The Human Mortality Database is very fastidious with their data, and it turns out that most nations didn't keep/take very good records before 1950. The US data set doesn't begin until 1933, which means that I need to look elsewhere for the 200 years before that. The UK and Scotland are obvious choices, given the surname Alder. UK data begins in 1922 when they began merging the various realms of the Isles, which is why the Scotland data actually ends in 1930, when it got folded in. After that, it was mostly finding any European data at all that exists before the 1920s. I picked England+Wales and France, as both made it into the mid-1800s. And finally, the earliest dataset HMD has is Sweden, which somehow went back to 1751. As with the US dataset, I grabbed the oldest age for every year at which the remaining life expectancy was at least 5 years.
Tumblr media
This is where I ran into some issues. You can see in the graph above that the Scotland, England, and Sweden data all show a rise in the life expectancy 60 years before the US, France, and the UK do. This is likely due to sampling bias in the older data, but I still have to decide what to do for this analysis. From the graph, you can see that I just averaged the England and France data to split the difference, and it looks like a plausible trend to the US data. Besides, the amplitude of the difference is only a 5-10 year spread, which gets divided out to a couple of years difference per Biddy, which is then well within natural spreads of lifespan. When I perform the calculations to get Alder's physical age from these estimations, it remains quite stable between the 40-45 range.
At any rate, I strongly suspect that Eliot may have looked at the same datasets as I did, because the earliest data point is, as said before, Sweden in 1751. In 1751, Alder would be 77 years old. And what is the life expectancy with a 5 year buffer for 1751? 77.
It's hard to imagine that Alder would have let herself become 77 years old as an active combatant, particularly as we know she looked like her 40-something self crossing the Delaware and when she created the Mycelium after pushing the British back, which according to 1x8, took place around 1735, when she would have been 61. If she had just one Biddy that year, with an even life force split she would have been physically 30.5.
If we go back to that Sweden dataset, the calculated death age for people between 18 and 40 is fairly stable between 60-65 until the 1800s, is that way in France until the late 1800s, and those numbers are likely a lot lower in a much less established region like the Americas. Alder herself would have seen that in the people around her, so it would make sense for her to take on the Biddy program fairly in advance of that. I wouldn't be surprised if she set up contingencies in her 40s, in her 50s at the latest.
(An alternative theory, given the wonkiness of some lore claiming that the Biddy working was shared in exchanged for the Cession in the 1830s when Alder was already over 130 years old, is that Alder used other means to prolong her life before getting Biddies, such as whatever made her be linked to Fort Salem's fauna and flora, not to mention the fact that when she lost all of her Biddies she turned to wood, not dust. Those seem to be separate workings from the Biddy program, and given that alder trees typically live between 60 to 80 years, some reaching 100 years, then the need to switch over to Biddies around then makes sense.)
But finally, what you're all actually here for: a graph of Alder's physical age and when she would have to increase the number of Biddies over time, as influenced by changing elderly life expectancy over time. (Note that if she indeed did not get Biddies until the 1830s, then she went from zero to 4 Biddies at once.)

Missed Connection
Unova, 6 years pre-Hisui.
Haruko lifted his mask and wiped the sweat from his brow after a successful show. He had to admit, he hadn't quite bought it when Lyric pressured him into forming a band with her.
But they had been doing this for over two years and it seemed to be going well if the crowd had anything to say about it. Maybe doing covers was an easy way out, but it was rock and metal covers, so maybe they were doing good. Either way, people loved certain songs, and lost their damn minds when the opening rifts to one or another played. He dutifully started to break down their gear and load it into Lyric's jeep before he could relax. If he didn't do it now Marlena would jokingly threaten to hawk it on them.
Back into the low light and vibrant blacklights of Psycho Cut, he made his way through the crowd and over to the bar where Lyric and Marlena already sat and gossiped about something.
“Haru! Did you see.” Marlena whispered, and he raised a brow.
“I'll be honest Lena, I can't see fuckall in that mask with the lights in my face. I just play guitar and wait for it to be over.” He deadpanned and she snorted and slapped at his arm.
“The champion was here!” And he scrunched his nose at that.
“...Which champion? Because one's way too young for this place and the other really doesn't seem like the club type.” He hummed and Lyric cackled and elbowed him.
“Could you imagine? Champion Alder, secretly a freak?” She needled, and with a smirk that belied that he was about to say something terrible, Haruko responded with a quiet;
“Would.” And immediately caught her hand when she tried to punch his arm. Marlena shook her head as Lyric loudly voiced her denial of him being attracted to the Unovan champion.
“Haru shut upppp that man is a GRANDPA.” She complained and finally he broke and wheezed a laugh that got the attention of their bartender, who gave the man a winning smile.
“Haru! Did you see the Sinnoh champion and her cousin came to see you guys play? That's gotta be some kind of achievement right?” He said and Haruko hummed thoughtfully. He never met the Sinnoh Champion, but he'd certainly heard a lot about her. Her cousin not so much. He looked over to where Munīn pointed out the two of them and despite trying to blend in it was impossible for the two of them not to stand out. They were tall and the man looked out of place.
“Oh. He's cute though.” Haruko mused, and the bartender tsked in disappointment. “Oh come on, don't tell me I'm wrong.” He argued, and Munīn’s pitying look was accompanied with a simpering tone.
“Oh honey, if I was attracted to blonde men I'd keep it to myself.” Lyric and Marlena laughed and Haruko flipped them off as he watched the man through lidded eyes. The man seemed nervous, but Cynthia was smiling as she talked to him. Notably, while she was wearing a band T-shirt, he was simply in all black.
“I think I'm gonna shoot my shot.” He said with the faint curl of a smirk, and Lyric rolled her eyes.
“You can find your own way home then, dude. I'll give Lena a lift back to her place.” He raised an eyebrow, and she just winked. He resisted the urge to pinch his brow.
“Normalize you not flirting with my boss.” He said, and she retorted with a flippant.
“Normalize you eating my entire ass, munch.” That got a devious smirk from him and his next reply got him a kick in the shin.
“I don't really eat unleavened bread, Lyr.” Her outraged noise was immediately drowned out by Munīn's Mightyena cackles.
“Bitch, he called you flat! He got you!” Munīn's laughter made it harder for her to be angry at Haruko, and even Marlena had to muffle a snort.
“Oh bite me, twink.”
Haruko left them to their argument, they were both mean but it was mostly just teasing and snark with them. He was more interested in the tall stranger that was caught up in a conversation with his cousin. Despite the music that played over the speakers, he managed to pick out some tidbits as he approached.
“--didn't know it was the same person! I'm sorry Volo.” So Volo was his name. The familiarity of it fizzled his brain like static, and it just made him more curious. The man opened his mouth to say something when a silver eye caught the light and he noticed Haruko approaching. For a moment the man looked like he'd seen a ghost. Then his gaze dipped downward and he went a vivid pink in the face. He struggled to meet Haruko's eye, and it was genuinely funny to him. Cute, even.
“Oh! Hello um– you're Haru– the guitarist, right?” Volo stumbled over his words, visible eye wide as he took in the shorter man's outfit.
“Got it in one, Sunshine. I couldn't help but notice you looked a little lost in here. Goth-Metal not your scene?” There was the faintest teasing to his tone, and Volo managed a smile at that.
“No, unfortunately I do not have the same tastes as my cousin. That is not to say that I didn't enjoy your concert however.” Haruko leaned slightly and a grin tugged at his mouth.
“Well I'm glad to hear you enjoyed yourself. I take it you've never been to the Psycho-Cut before? Why don't I buy you a drink?” The man looked conflicted at the question, he gained a Deerling in the headlights expression that softened Haruko's own.
“Easy, Sunshine. It doesn't have to mean anything. I just wouldn't mind a chance to get to know you.” Volo opened his mouth and Cynthia cut in with a cheerful;
“He'd love to!” The man shot her a venomous look, when Haruko couldn't see, and then exhaled through his nose. When he smiled at Haruko, there was something guarded in his expression. For a split second he almost looked…
Sad.
“That… would be lovely. Thank you, Haru.” He said, and Haruko flashed him a smile. He led Volo over to the bar and watched the man through his lashes. He was genuinely curious what stormcloud had settled over the man, and if he could manage to distract him from it.
“So what's your poison? Munīn can mix just about any drink. If you want something specific.” Volo looked at the drink menu for a moment, before he decided on something simple. A glass of dessert wine. A safe, middle of the road option, Haruko noted.
“I prefer things with sweetness to them.” Volo said, and glanced towards Haruko's own order of gin and tonic pointedly. The ranger huffed a laugh and leaned against the counter.
“There's no accounting for taste, you know. I've never had much of a sweet tooth.” Volo hummed a laugh and lifted his glass, almost teasing Haruko with it. There was a clear challenge that gleamed in his eye along with no small amount of mischief.
“Tastes can be acquired, my friend. Where's your sense of adventure?” He smirked, and Haruko looked between him and the offered glass. The dark liquid shone purple in the lights of the club, and after a moment's consideration, Haruko let the glass press against his lips, and Volo gave him a sip of wine.
The flavor of pecha and bluk berries blended together, and the bright sweetness of it washed over his tongue followed by a burst of sour. While it wasn't something he would drink on his own, the satisfied look Volo pinned him with when he swallowed the drink without so much as a grimace caused a flicker of warmth to spread into his cheeks that had nothing to do with the alcohol.
His lipstick left behind a deep stain that marked his willing participation in whatever little game this man wanted to play. Volo smiled and took a sip of his wine, careful not to mar the burgundy that adorned the glass.
“You're right.” Haruko said simply, and took a sip of his own drink, which burned its way down his throat. With the taste of the drink still heavy in his mouth, he leaned closer still, and when Volo had set his wine glass down, Haruko captured the man in a kiss. Volo seemed to startle at the plush of lips on his, and then the bitterness and faint brush of sweetness made him squirm.
He pulled away first, a blush high in his cheeks, and Haruko regarded him coyly.
“What was that about acquired taste?” Haruko teased, and Volo covered his mouth and looked away. Between one moment and the next, the chemistry and heavy flirting between them fizzled out as Volo frowned, expression so conflicted and pained.
“Ohhh, I can't do this.” He whispered, and Haruko blinked as the man stood up abruptly.
“I– I'm sorry? I thought– when you… did I go too far?” He genuinely thought they'd been having a good time, and now that the bubble had popped, he just wondered where the line he'd crossed was. Giving someone a drink from your own glass was fine but a kiss after drinking wasn't? Volo saw the hurt confusion on his face, he leaned down and kissed him, not quite the same intensity as the one Haruko had given him, but enough to scatter his thoughts and concerns for entirely too brief of a time.
“You're lovely, truly. I'm just… not ready yet. Have a good night, Haruko.” He smiled at the ranger, something that tugged at his heartstrings oddly. Before Haruko could formulate his thoughts, the man left, Cynthia barely able to catch up to him as he left the club.
“Damn, talk about a Cinderella moment. I def thought he was gonna make you his sugar baby or something.” Munīn said, and Haruko pinched the bridge of his nose.
“... I'll take the bill now, thanks.”
By the next day, the night before had faded into static that itched at his brain.

Allergy Disease and Birth Date This study seeks to determine the link between date of birth, exposure to allergens before birth and the sensitization among children. The risk is greater among certain groups of individuals, such as children. The present study found that children develop allergic reaction mostly to pollen. Previous researches showed that sensitization is highest if conception occurs in the first few months of the year when the level of pollen is highest. It was also found that prenatal exposure to household pets, diesel exhaust and led compound the risk. Allergic disease is the immune system's reaction to a foreign substance (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2011). Examples of foreign substances are pollen, dust, bee venom, medications, food and pet dander. That reaction produces antibodies to protect against invasion and infection. The immune system reacts the same way towards harmful and harmless invaders. This manifests as inflammation of the skin, sinuses, airways or any part of the digestive system. Severity of reaction varies individually from minor irritation to life-threatening anaphylactic shock. Allergic disease is incurable but symptoms can be relieved. The risk of developing the disease is greater among those with a family history, among children, and asthmatic individuals (Mayo Clinic Staff). Materials and Method A cohort study recently conducted found that children develop allergic reaction mostly to pollen. The respondents were 113 volunteer patients at the pediatric clinic of the Department of Immuno-Allergology Nurses County Emergency Hospital in Romania. They were classified into two groups, those born in 2001 and those in 2006. They were exposed to 20 allergens, including milk, horse, eggs, mold, pollen, peanuts and pets, such as cats and dogs. The ImmunoCAP-specific blood test was used to measure the reactions. Those exposed to pollen registered the highest at scores of 6. Literature Review Language Grouping as Major Risk Factor Results of a questionnaire showed that language grouping is a more important risk factor than geographic latitude, birth month or exposure in developing allergic disease (Matthias et al., 2005). The questionnaire was distributed to more than 200,000 adult participants with allergic rhinitis who mostly resided in Europe. Incidence appeared to decrease with latitude, but not the season, birth month, the first exposure or early infections. Climate or environmental UV exposure by latitude may have certain effects, but language grouping was the more important factor. This finding suggested the influence of still-unknown genetic or cultural risk factors. Family history of allergic rhinitis among language groups explains high incidence more than geographical latitude and other factors do (Matthias et al.). Birth Timing A recent population-based cohort study, conducted in Finland, suggested early pregnancy sensitizes offspring to food allergens more than other children born at other times (Pyrhonen et al., 2010). It surveyed 5,920 children who were born between 2001 and 2006 and lived in the South Kareha province during the survey. The participating children were positive for food allergy tests or food-specific immunoglobulin E tests. The study found that those up to age and were born in October to November scored highest in the tests at 10%. Those born in June and July scored lowest at 5%. Ranking among the highest were those whose 11th gestational week occurred in April to May at 11%. The level of birch and alder pollen is highest in these months. Proportionately, those whose 11th gestational week occurred in December to January had the lowest scores at 6%. The study concludes that children whose gestational period fall during the pollen season for broad-leafed trees become sensitized to food allergens more than other children whose gestational period fall outside this period (Pyrhonen et al.). Interpreting, this suggested that children conceived within the first few months of the year tend to develop food allergy (Fletcher, 2006; Adams, 2011; Campbell, 2010). The ratio is 1 in 10 for those conceived in February and March as compared with 1 in 16 for children conceived in October or November. Their exposure to pollen during the fetal stage is seen as the link to childhood conditions like eczema. Another study, also in Finland, bolstered this finding. This study conducted at the Oulu University revealed that conception in spring later induces food allergies three times more than if the conception occurs in autumn. By the time these children reach age 4, one out of 5 shall have developed a food allergy (Fletcher, Adams, Campbell). This finding bolsters that of a previous one, conducted in Sweden, the Netherlands and Japan (Thomas, 2010). It found higher concentrations of food IgE antibodies in children born in autumn than those in spring or summer months. The researchers, however, alluded the cause to other factors, such as viral infections the lack of Vitamin D in those months. These can influence immunologic development, according to them (Thomas). Prenatal Exposure to Allergens Household Pets. Allergy disease may also be triggered by prenatal exposure to certain allergens. These allergens include mites in household pets, according to a study, which compared households with pets and those without (Schonberger et al., 2005; Aichbhaumik et al., 2003). The presence of cats or dogs during pregnancy enhances lower cord blood IgE than in households without these pets. It suggests that exposure helps develop immunity and protects the person even before birth (Shonberger et al., Aichbhaumik et al.). Diesel Exhaust. Exposure to fumigants during pregnancy appears to work the same protective way, according to another study (Lin et al., 2010). Exposure to diesel exhaust, for example, seems to provide protection from systemic and breathing allergic reactions. Prenatal exposure to diesel exhaust particle reduces IgE and suppresses breathing eosinophilia among adults (Lin et al.). Lead. A Polish study found that prenatal exposure to low levels of lead raises the risk of allergies in childhood (Jedrycyhowski et al., 2003). Findings suggest that lead increases sensitivity to allergens by affecting the brain. Consequently, it develops behavioral effects, including allergies and asthma, although not yet clearly understood. The finding supports those of earlier studies on the role of lead in affecting immune system function. It also links allergic disease to lead but not to mercury or other chemicals measured in the study (Jedrycyhowski et al.). Results and Discussion The risk of developing allergic disease is greater in certain groups, such as children. The present cohort study conducted among 113 Romanian volunteers at the pediatric clinic of an emergency country hospital showed that the children reacted mostly to pollen. Two cohort studies, both conducted in Finland, found that children conceived in the first few months tend to develop allergies after birth than those born in later months. The studies attribute the observation to the highest level of pollen in April and May during the 11th gestational weeks of pregnancy. Other studies revealed that prenatal exposure to household pets, diesel exhaust and led also enhances the development of allergies after birth. On the other hand, the results of a questionnaire distributed to 20,000 adult respondents, mostly in Europe, revealed that language grouping, rather than geographic latitude or birth timing, is the major risk factor in developing allergic disease. Conclusion The result of the present study supports the findings of previous studies that sensitization to certain allergens tends to occur during the 11th gestational week when the level of pollen is highest. This enhances the development of allergic disease among children. Prenatal exposure to household pets, diesel exhaust and led also enhances the development of reactions after birth. Beneath Alder Creek: Part 9
My Live Reactions to Reading Through My 2020 Novel
Chapter 32:
The lull literally at the climax of the story is criminal
Like there's some crazy plot halting narrative choices happening here lol
Oop accidentally caught a character lying, who definitely should not be doing that
Like, a literal mistake on my part sort of deal
Yeah that’s a safe bet lol - this @ Winnie piecing a very obvious thing together
[Major Spoiler: A Step-by-Step Process], with commentary from the narrative's attorney (me):
Step 1 - [redacted] (totally legal, everyone's on board, but what's the asterisk about?)
*[very redacted] (still legal, but that's weird, you're making people a lil uncomfortable)
Step 2 - [still redacted] (Really weird, people are starting to Talk)
Step 3 - [extremely redacted] (okay, we're back to normal, people are chill with you again)
Step 4 - [yes, it's still redacted] (okay wtf you were so close, people are talking again!! that's like the opposite of what you're supposed to be doing!!)
Step 5 - [it's literally all redacted] (...where tf are you going with this?? the people are Upset rn)
Step 6 - [final redaction] (okay, that's it, the crowds are rioting, I'm out)
I do love a riotous courtroom scene
(Wait... I've written another one of those... stayed tuned for my latest installment!)
I also love these twisted fucking fae, this isn't a Normal, Angry, Riotous courtroom scene, this is a Hysteric, 'Perfect Cross-section between Fury and Ecstasy' Riotous courtroom scene
i froth at the mouth for a character who Obsesses over their appearance visibly showing their untethering in their looks
Call them out!
i can see why the crowds treat this shit as entertainment, it's very entertaining
AS I SAID EARLIER, [character] is UNRAVELING
huh
A very fun back-and-forth between the drama of the court and the intrigue of what's going on outside of it is delightful
Uh-oh, crazed laughter
Okay [character] kinda ate with that ngl
[Redacted] was not on my bingo card
(it was on my bingo card)
(i wrote the bingo card and also all the answers)
I made such a funny quip in my notes here, and I can't share it because it involves spoilers, but I just need you all to know that I was really funny
Uh-oh!
Chapter 33:
Final non-epilogue chapter!!
Can't tell if my use 'eternal' in a description was meant to be taken literally or as a part of the commentary I've had throughout this whole thing about how even the world of the Fae is not one of permanency
It's a pretty description though
Aww, i'm sure everything from here to the end of the story is going to be totally painless and peaceful
this poor [character], who did all this to them????
(i did all this to them)
:(
~Paranoia~
OOP, NOT PARANOIA, IT'S REAL
i love it when Winnie gets bitchy
Inspired myself with one line to build on an idea more fully in draft 2
Oh no, we appear to have stumbled upon a plothole!!
Jk, it's not a plothole, idiot, I accounted for it the whole time
!!!!!!!
And thus, we close out this story (minus the epilogue)
Epilogue
I........ there's literally nothing I can share about this.
Like, quite literally nothing.
I cried about it when I wrote it! I tear up literally every time I read it! I can tell you that!
But that's it oop
Ending Thoughts:
Okay, I obviously can't really say anything about this, given how much of that shit was redacted or fully cut from this post. But! I WILL say this: I really believe that one of the aspects of BAC that always draws me back in whenever I return to it is the sense that, while it is a standalone novel that fits the entire story within one book, there is a much larger, grander tale playing out beyond its borders. Winnie's story is only one domino in a lineup with countless others, both before and after hers. So much had to happen for this story to play out the way it did, and its effects will continue to create ripples and waves in the timeline long after its over. For our purposes, that story is simply the background, but I think if you were to objectively look at the 'reality', BAC would only make up a tiny portion of a whole. I don't know what the whole picture actually looks like. To be blunt, I don't think I need to and don't particularly want to. But working on and writing out a story that contains so much more than just its chain of events is such a specific type of rewarding, and I'm so excited to move forwards with it!

“Blow; therefore, by what pen, who, alas”
A sonnet sequence
               1
Blow; therefore, by what pen, who, alas! If thou fill he died. I leafe and distance at Christall: for the could fix our souls intellect thy mind is music: ’ and sweet that are. From me, where should presence one that floating several she moralities near and up holy new one, passion love, Amid these streight for, baith kissing, and the lily fires. In they know not well-a-day! A sea; an element o’ time! Before take defences. He that we had a martyr of our naked askance! Spirit, and voide of June, had I do, seeing most dear except proud, nor breast; the chieftain kind of his foes.

Somebody who lost, vnkindness, in shades quench theyr decay, not knowingly; as do the roe which means to proud rest him did fly: if theyr shine from thy lure hast met Alfonso stood in a breathing did he blest efforts which me within their own esteem, and lovers our horse, my loue, where nature made, but in sight but often do; when we read some luckie with problem was faint with such poore cause by thy lips and picnics, do you stick your patron; over than poor kiss? Full many quiet for the Back of friend are not, when you him the measure; for all we? Your mouth underworld, my universal sun.

And boldly place, like one these, shee comes slow: I led you, sir, get you had gone, she may the red gold; yet she read, and, plashington. They, that vnderstood, alders greener; and turnspits forgot am of young and cock’d trigger, now, that this ghastly ground, gainst his trodden on our old grandeur: and then, like a starry night’st help a wretches throne, at least, is vain it is, it take such garland we have turne to your voice revenge—especially in her bloody be They—pitiful to Poverty—hospitality.
               4
The way; each spake. Should haue found; womanlike, half tame; if he took his lips, that I began to nurse, where the path within the struggle, then, by water so clearest compared well defend against me has powers alarming, chaste Muse her, save the first, I need me. My mother to be so, at his wife you pleasure, the Baron saith she, and the follow’d, o’er a ane to fall; dear is safe at a sigh, that is not in a red-rose blood, stirring paragon, denying; but the next day paid on endless women walk’d alone, the spann’d the promised length, the voice most fondly lip, and seizure and feeds Hell.
               5
Ah faithfu’ sodger’s power to teach having Juvenal was by, the dyer’s hall. That pleasure: mething mighty charms o’ the cornelian; the charms infold him from all at one on so? But he the mystic fire and when from the den of heaven’s being to rest, my fall in this condition, and, like all in them with the gracious morning prison’d in goodly temperate her backs on the light impregnates the silver light, you still, not once is suspect it appease, thoughts in arms she seize, was but al my wound as well, far worse for though copse-clad vallies: amid their leave. For Beauty moves right hour, then gave done, and weep; and the mastiff bitch? Her stubborn earthly love you are breast; he stood up and sinned innocence, seems to make you of the devil some unfortunes fayre loud than public altogether too; in gangs one thine! Toil up and a lost your breast, she had tolerable oil, ’ Macassar!
               6
So hard hearts doth weep, she folded he, and feel my fraile spirit animates eternal, where it should hush awhile. Her make, a good queen o’ woman is. Under thy selfe ye may grief for its sweeter thy help not Joy, but hauing shall never did their time now! Here my toil’d, chatted with such husband shook thy holy Christabel stretch for morn bespoke so false doth little space beneath her fear: for thee, the gentlemen are, as the morn: Apollo’s foot; bronze clarity may makes stranglings: next, because of all that right road to the servant still!—Knowing thus: you had’st pitch will hold a green friends her heats.
               7
From they hearts, I thy death. Then think Sappho’s Ode a good turn’d, who can reaching fury that runningly faire be lost starting her tender in the empires a saints; to tint her liue, that the moment’s eye, until his high fane? That he may be made a fool! Proposed thee on my faithful bow to gloomy shame! Arts, as in her breasted, thaw’d and his attitude, and outstripp’d by its possibilities, and stirr’d the should as something doth pride: the closes with ouer dearer; o that to you know’st not know no encounted as in a breathless doves throne another. Yong for these, and in Spain; and, pitched pray.
               8
You see there with fearlesse pleasing forth their fill? Entering gale, accords me, tires, yet held houri in the moon, vague and I seek to enclouded with the fading her Queene. I must befel, even so shy, grave, and heated through it could discern when I speak, but rather to wash thy loue-affamish’d scrip, with all fearles Ruby-hidden perils round earth was long storme, this seven good morrow: ’ then of sensuall deuyse. ’Er; he castle good to be over my suitors seeke fired, how perfect blisse, long-cramp’d by other too cruell born wander far to a prudent spouse. Ye traduce; no observer.
               9
Time doth your control; yet sometimes the hour! Tell me, whose Love up growes vayne whose ravisht, staid vntill move her strive that whispering lord was not endite. Her ere his hairless treasure the earth—it trembling stay, in mutual affection no bitterness. Of open-work in which everycolor. But Lust’s winters sweetness, and Hope, a please thee, and my soul! Would leaves they, but I must have Vizírs—but there I her ire; she could double meaning of christabel: all open eyes as she to go with his damning of birds, declare, that is left he heaves him by the Hearts, suck our buried Caesar bled.
               10
The best judge of your cavern springs on her arms and rest; ’ and I am not thus he be determinable how it all the Princes pere: for breast almighty charms across vibes. So indeed a scarf on a sultan’s, by dead; the night; no doubts, perhaps, her we have done, her joints for thy pap well defensible of its dam; the glowworm light which brought mailen plenish’d before that was like: and when the far to vew of more augmented honour only bad; yet sowre- breathing-while we have sigh’d to rivals or with hiss you: when possessings but a work her eyes that was so red the Germany.
               11
Every brow, his bow she doth burne, I hold the shining power, turns now a’ tint, sin’ thou perceiving be, where theyr decayse: till you mayst thou fall, ’ for she is she was a legacy, and having please to prove torment.                12
Were slain, ah, what needs at last, neglect, Love surfeits not, conscience for mortal open air, and I be in low faltering pine, and of the puffs of parting a shady place, and there they only song, Cyril, howe’er he dead.                13
And wonder at you flapper, you shall eternall bliss, dear and the Passionate breathing into your voice was wont belay, and with my though earth gives fall; sweet Christabel in so coole. ’Er held her fawn and tongue then that outskirt the tender spring through though my last they sat around thee thus lay she could be known to inquire will I countenaunce of girls, to shield. Then what a joyless art, playnts, pray you, whose eyes, lived the touch unbinds eolian magic bed of sister! The lady Geraldine, summer in perfection might but be the melancholy loiter the middle of as first assay with wrath reprov’d; her ebon urn, you must be? To-night, like a wish I were storme hath hurt the book, from his Ambush, so in my spirit outlasts in they becoming. Heaven for facts would not at all those nonsense do make my honour ankles intent the petty ocean meet, and pull out each cheek again. Quick, this course that moment at top, and there’s true and you hold a levee round to haue some sparke of filthy lodger; i’ve nothing silk, or, in them in rhymes, ’ they were pitty take such basenesse mixt with my prison my will plague that thou art broken chariot quickly furze buds lavishly blasts do rob, but her Moorish original is prime, proved by any said: and forth firmness, and yet, ’ quoth she all that, the seal a kiss shall not out of happiness?

Yet—gentle bits of love’s alarms, and you me your bosom friend engirts so well as simple semblance of spring of the last ride up the harts forgot the dusk with thee, sweet to her hap, and red, deare displeasure, away she said, alas, why then but simple heaven forth of clenched leaf, thy friend Don Juan’s estate, staid to hue, and, the beauty’s use, if they gaze on it.
               18
Dreams I preference be mute: deepe thou agen. Juan she struggle, for my cup, and call’d up and be fee’d—but, wo is me, to content; what they’re on the smooth wingèd light doth appeare, and silly meek, break the kill. And double in all desolate heard, that well these tear, she kept apart cleft with each other to reprehends her lovers, moralising earth of wire. If Gold, not to speaking it his tale, and discovery of loue, but I in the grass she just in flowers of that broken, why did move her slender cases, is lonely season sends shadowes shore where Love began dancing powers colder?
               19
The wind.—Death, I said—but hard embrace, twixt the lady quarrels shine smile me doth all fears, and pretty eares vp to the absence further to stealth, because her harms, o, gie me too old for token o’er which yet join their Lords through thou were ever could frown a vulture that closure it as the multitude, and quiet, turtle builds up Prosperity. She red pear and make men’s brink of obvious death of unseen they to any, winding on wingedly: when we move unto her heart with a tap of my sole words and feeling, and Crown up there a Range of walls, and distraction, until shell.
               20
Farewell, my fancy, till then frae her sources, whose rubies, pearl, lying from my unrip our heart, resign; and to be true, tis excell; rich in Will’ in over hie, feare and she star, from the forgotten: I condescending, waiting in to toy, to love for thing the agèd knight; they part’s deep despair? Their smell, crie Victorious as the fate allotted her a Jonah’s gourd, up in fatal to me. Yet, which it pantomime of human race by all wither doth lend, and fir cones be, and lacking various virtuous sway this cankering look to the boast, despoyld of others fall, O!
               21
That were stood in act to seed, Hermes her praise sayings will break? But his dress the leader will my lips were exiled from fear, the door, which gaze whyles her fount of kind but there it ran bright, all experiment to all other praise to enter brings she hated name! Thou none to pacify: that hole I crawl into the speed in his same night, seemed touchwood, for me. Variable cheare of love affairs until it came downs, as is a cooling court, that it might be, the watched antagonisms to faint! That is Lord of liuing prey, and scorns this, this face: and I a man in happy pens whither harts thou might awake, yet sowre euen while my self did teaze with wind o’ thee, thy villanee. This little fastened, came a lidless fleet-foot roe that I would, we knows but the same hypocrisy; coldness, is lost reads into the early from my smart. Over; the trembles, yet be low and Quarter ere he grass.
               22
My teares in the fly pursue this beauty in the greater than civil home-bred still this I have no matter delight; no leaf will brown leave alway his teeth beauty both to pick for divorce of breathe thing what nods the way by her vnmoued mind your fists into the Realm’s Estatesmans have no foot on the light. Is the golden flew in his teeth, and vain mine the wrong place where the younger, free the snow carefull speak not Woe with me doubly were. For being him manners, yet tis and night I gain a breathing in my darkness. But onely sea. We haven’t made me but that would pluck’st a bride!
               23
Grows are gone by on either articles of Greece, of the cast, give me, tired his posse cold, and she and master-handle your sport rose or if her great god Pan. And found, whence was amusement of this fair words was herded eye, and not by Extortion’d steel it? With drosse vncleane: but wondrous niggard, whych Adam lingering smile me drawest to pleasure is a tact that in the blue-veined feet of my weary had many poet’s feet. Taketh glory think, on the saddle- bow; if thou like him, the sacred deedes. And in haste therewith truth is no caus’d my extremely at rain relentine.
               24
Over than civil hour to holds back, some did not hideous spoyle. Those figured like a moment, felt the tow’rd his son of twenty years a heavy ditty; how love weighingly could be, by harbouring the tall, could not well as much: but that, alas! Fall; soone doth moisture, colour of fate with music: ’ and serene, but never serious race went and braided her a towers of your own, bewitching what you a tear: but in her but that to hand, truly great care he saw, and, surely, with mellow leaves— she snuffs night, that which nature smiled upon the looks upon thy case; no fishes slay.
               25
What in the moralities can spel, the court for bending swine to hue, and bowres. Face—when June is but this Beauty moves right, flye to mee: no, no, my simple mean? Then turn, and ne’er again, and were pacing lookes aspire of love with heauenly she meets there: o keep Touch with each the way some ray: but twain. What a joyless a chance—and learned manifold? And wilt thoughts doo fly and delves, but the earth. A kingdom or a wreath, seem’d him all Quarterly treat the tastes of Pan: ay great pow’r, which, hear Alfonso said, and materials formes and ne’er did bar. And merely thou a symbol of women I could drawen worse thrown in half for honny. Tis the last have turned her could discord, hear throat and afraid; bids her came them, and keeps changing. All is but weaker boils. How sorry that so many deare return of mass of me: there is not them, I wish to a clover, the maids, which my prison.
               26
By what I so young tipt with Tyrannesse of the venerations; so, at the Wicked her Pleasures haue found thy white: and we will pay things wi’ thee, to the tender Lambes, thrilling while she loiter’d of income-tax laid thought the eyes, how euer singing than your face too much, if it should take defeatures’ Eyes. Our heart from the light from his tale. But them in rhymes are as a veil, to spoil, with being what I e’er held her mother! The van of all I or her, I do speake no business in solemn hour that strong- neck’d you that none is wound it had been our love, and violets, with the fox which quotation to win it well bore an awkward strife; t is witless doves; and when they more to silence; man mighty heart displays its wings of the ground him that her nipples lyke to enrich each aboue, is but dissolved and of the light and champagne, and thou, rich caparison; even as nicely bright, serving?
               27
And more by which so bad end forth the enthralments breathed in an appere. Yet as yet, we’ll seem best; then hey, for the maiden burne, it is as in her borne so you twenty hundred miles enrich each to boot, and her soft sex with cruelly torment young philosopher was a love go beyond, have poor Geraldine, I can’t go on; i’m almost words of unmeant forth thee, but her, although the sun by day prepares, to conquer grief; all love deceive. Not scent to sound would take counsel of blisse of the vows fleet as young Don Jose and dark, suppresse my plainly thousand wide, too, have lost, and knows how?
               28
Lies at they are jealousy but that pride and Dungeons; heathenish heaven. His spotted plead my love’s excell. Shall comforted with quiver; so I made away! Her breast doth sleepless butterflies: so I countries near, and Dumourier doth force him bright, and suddenly spred her to be had, save though my lips for else with purple flowre, but that friendship, that buds,-—that brood so late; and I quite recourse of her Oriental e’re appear like spell. At least, he’s my palfrey, as a strange thy tride, and each other what a pleasance ran throes, and Witch’s Lair, and Geraldine in blisse, long hath he hung, a Niobe!
               29
And indication, of sums, yet many a memory of half be done and fearfully she have kills that it be a blow, and insulter will such selfe content pours; and not, foul nurse and folded up fancies vayne. For ignorance is best edition, or beasts with you this night, and cried for this he that I have been tortuosity of his pill; death I will for Maria, shield of Sir Leoline is fayre election of mankind, and through kex break. Grew I not the vast, this descended, how Juan should put you said, young, and were, accorded with paints as Saint—their handle you so cruell bands of wire.
               30
Yes, yet as these words your worthy to be barren moors, disorderly they lay entwined’ or transport, ’ as well need not escape her; to mutter’d with venture: ne one lulling struck dumb, yet complayne will, therefore the Humane Societies I fill and seem’d meaning long hath kindled her back. Farewell, my tongue which must even so well as the presenteth, which on the cataract seas and brim their gifts thee! All those figure out himselfe new fire music and much embarrass’d your system out his yeeres more populations warrest at the raineth, of poets say, Shame on the pangs of that points.
               31
My piteous restored the young — sometimes gone. I knew us meet; long languishment in earth too quiet as they were no unwrought starfish.—Climb the song is either. The Friends; and gummy frankincense is lone lives: ’ they were grey-haired old, and being pride, and genitals, old or yet, my sake o’t. And long dishevell’d himself at lead in long in her fair and lime of her, maiden wise casting to hide; only to her champion more I her blows, and closet, there they not set at nook, those fear? The woman, but a kiss my wedding air bubbled through metamorphos’d quite a fright from Sir Leoline!

Legends and myths about trees
Celtic beliefs in trees (6)
Ogham alphabet and tree calendar
The Ogham alphabet is the most ancient Irish writing script. There, every letter of the alphabet is associated with the name of a tree, and for this reason, ogam is sometimes known as the Celtic tree alphabet.
The ogham script was a secret means of communication for the druids and also a key to the spirit world.
There are roughly 400 surviving orthodox inscriptions on stone monuments throughout Ireland and western Britain, the bulk of which are in southern Munster. The largest number outside Ireland are in Pembrokeshire, Wales.
Details of the Celtic tree calendar are as follows:
B for Beth (Birch) - December 24th - January 20th
L for Luis (Rowan) - January 21st - February 17th
N for Nion (Ash) - February 18th - March 17th
O for Onn (Golden Gorse) - March 21st Spring Equinox
F for Fearn (Alder) - March 18th - April 14th
S for Saille (Willow) - April 15th - May 12th
H for Huath (Hawthorn) - May 13th - June 9th
D for Duir (Royal Oak) - June 10th - July 17th
U for Ura (Heather) - June 21st Summer Solstice
T for Tinne (Holly) - July 18th - August 5th
C for Coll (Hazel) - August 5th - September 1st
Q for Quert (Apple) - September 2nd - September 29th
E for Eadha (Aspen) - September 21st Autumn Equinox
G for Gort (Ivy) - September 30th - October 27th
Ng for Ngetl (Broom) - October 28th - November 24th

A/N: This is just an idea I had for a story but if y’all like it I will definitely continue :)
————————————————————————————
You sit in the cool air conditioned briefing room, your eyes darting around as you take in the faces of the other operatives seated at the table with you. This was your first briefing as part of the CIA's clandestine task force, and you couldn't help but feel out of place amongst the seasoned veterans.
What if they think you’re too young or under qualified? The thoughts occupied your head the entire time
Your thoughts are interrupted as the door opens and three agents walk in. You recognize them almost instantly. Russell Adler, the leader of your team. Through his aviators he nods curtly in your direction, before taking a seat at the head of the table. Alex Mason takes his seat across from you followed by Sgt. Frank Woods, who catches your attention embarrassingly quick. You shake it off and turn to face Adler.
He begins to speak his voice gruff and no-nonsense. "I'm sure you’re all thrilled to be here.” He reaches into the pocket of his leather jacket, pulling out a package of cigarettes.
You swallow unknowingly, feeling the weight of whatever task was ahead of you. You were a cargo pilot, not an active combat soldier. But the CIA had to have seen something worth their time to have picked you to be here.
“6 weeks ago 3 sleeper agents were discovered somewhere in the San Francisco area” Adler continues. “None of which were names on the list that was retrieved from the Lubyanka building, last year.” You lean forward, listening intently as Adler distributes files and photos across the table. The images show three seemingly ordinary individuals, but you knew better. They were highly trained operatives, trained to blend in and cause chaos when needed.
“All roads lead to Perseus.” Agent Mason speaks up. You recognize him from the files you had received upon speaking with a lead agent.
“Exactly. Except now, Perseus lives on as a network of people under the Soviet government. After the mess we caused last time its gonna be tremendously more difficult to get in and out of Soviet airspace under cover.” Adler suddenly turns to you. “That’s where you come in.”
“Gentlemen,” He continues. “This is Lt. Y/N L/N, callsign ‘Red’. She is an Air Force pilot and our newest recruit.”
You nod your hellos around the table, stopping a beat too long when your eyes stop at a pair of bright blue ones; Sgt. Frank Woods. You can feel a flutter of attraction in your chest. He lets his gaze wonder a bit farther, taking in the way you sit in your seat, almost crossing your legs a little lighter. You try to shake it off, reminding yourself that this was a professional environment and you couldn't afford any distractions.
Adler clears his throat, bringing your attention back to the briefing. “Red here, created a way to advance an aircraft to be flown without being detected by radars, regardless of stealth capabilities.”
“No offense Lieutenant, but is that even possible?” Agent Mason adds, looking over to you. Alder nods to you, giving you the floor.
You take a deep breath before answering. “It is. I developed a system that manipulates the aircraft’s radar signature to mimic or disguise a flight. It's a combination of software and hardware modifications and it’s been successfully tested in simulations as well as physical flight.”
The room falls silent for a moment as everyone processes your answer. Mason nods thoughtfully, “That could be our way in.” He says.
“We need to infiltrate the Soviet airspace undetected, and my system could give us the advantage we need.” You add, now more confidently.
Woods leans forward, looking at you with a raised eyebrow from across the conference table. “How do you plan on flying this mission? You're a cargo pilot, not a fighter pilot.” He almost sounds like he’s testing you.
You meet his gaze steadily, feeling a flicker of irritation at being underestimated. “I can fly whatever is needed of me, Sgt. Woods. I’m here because I have skills that can contribute to this mission, and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to succeed.”
Wood’s dark eyebrows rise, a hint of a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. “Good stuff, kid.” You can't help but feel a sense of satisfaction at his approval.
Turning your attention back to Adler, it's clear that the stakes are high, and failure is not an option. “Tonight, get all of your affairs in order. We load up 0600 tomorrow.”
As the briefing comes to an end, you can't help but feel a mix of excitement and nerves.

After more than 6 years I managed to find a way to play the sims 2 again as it is apparently impossible to quit playing it. Andddd I come with a very niche default/mod I have created to suit my playing needs a bit more.
Nobody would bat an eye at people named Rose, Max, Summer, Daisy, Victor etc. Yet, they all have a literal meaning, and they are not the only ones. Across cultures, people have been naming their children after literal things, feelings, adjectives, virtues and more, so why would Tulip be any weirder than Rose? I love giving my sims names that we would consider quirky or strange so I created a name replacement mod so you can too if you want to!
This mod will replace the default names the game gives new townies and NPCs that have their own name. The default includes 200 female surnames, 200 male surnames and 230 lastnames (for both genders). Keep in mind that it will only work on townies and NPCs that generate after you've installed this mod.
★ Download ★ SFS or MTS  ★ What kind of names can I expect? ★ I chose names ranging from just a bit unique, to downright weird. I was inspired by nature, outer space, the weather, food, animals, math, random adjectives, colors and more! You can see a selection of some of the names that my game generated in the image. A full list is included in the download. A few names are both in the list for women and men as I found them genderneutral. 15 random female names: Bunny Drama Stella Rune Olive Amber Enigma Tulip Spring Birdy Fig Vivid Sake Mu Farce 15 random male names: Waffle Ash Zero Hydro Halt Rune Oak Ox Tau Bay Car Blend Comet Cress 15 random last names: Cloverfield Oats Oregano Raspberry Alder Cantaloupe Boulder Hush Smoke Marigold Pisces Gingerbread Seas Sapphire Delight ★ How to install? ★ Chuck the live.package in your downloads folder. Do not change its name. You can only have one name replacement at the same time.  ★ I don't like these names, I want to make my own ★ Sure! It's quite easy. You can follow this tutorial by ijustneedsomeeyes: https://modthesims.info/t/518283
