Man... the vast majority of people just uh... do not get geopolitical stuff at all
#I was watching a show that... mhh... I don't know if it used to be good; but it was enjoyable; and then the last season was bad#(like... they forgot how to write it... I... assume some corpo meddling)#anyway; the finale for the whole show thankfully did end up being pretty good despite being mixed in the writing#cause it really did show a lot of respect for the past with the show and brought back a lot of one off characters in ways that worked#but... and this is what the post is about; China had developed a new bunker buster; and someone stole it#and they were gonna use it to start world war 3 (it turns out by... blowing up a damn in russia)#and... a) no one gives a shit about a new bunker buster; like yeah in that situation the US would rather China didn't have it#but the US doesn't like the fact that China's working on hyper sonics; and frankly no one likes anything anyone does#every country's ideal game plan is they get the ultra mega doom weapon and everyone else isn't even allowed sticks#but no one's really gonna care about a bunker buster; and it's unlikely to even be a game changer#between probably expense and... the existence of bunker busters already; and a finite number of hardened targets worth hitting...#just a bunker buster doesn't matter; it really doesn't; neither in terms of starting a war nor in terms of military application#it's like how F-16s have been good for Ukraine; ...whatever the acronym for attackems is good for Ukraine#(sorry; HIMARs and such are easy to remember; but it's like... ATKMs? I'm not looking that up)#but none of them are single handedly winning the war; russia's 'hypersonics' aren't doing shit#systems definitely matter; but you're not going to have one that just totally tips the state of the world#second though... that's not going to start ww3; russia blew up a damn in Ukraine and no one even gave a shit#(it's horrific; to be clear I'm furious at the lack of international response; we should have made it a clear red line on par with a nuke)#(but we didn't; despite the massive ecological devastation it caused; not to mention human lives lost; I'm so so so angry)#but even though the world values russia more... it would raise tensions; and there would be saber rattling but...#sorry; I don't think you could really frame this is something the US did and it would mostly just escalate tensions#just not believable in the slightest#no... what would be very bad is if China ever decides to invade Taiwan; if anything would be the spark it would be that#though even then it's likely to be more localized with US intervention (if our useless asses can even do that)#...that right there is one of the scariest actual... flash point situations on the table#(and the west has totally failed because the best way to make sure that didn't happen would have been overwhelming support to Ukraine)#(send a clear message that invading your neighbor gets your teeth kicked in by the west as they funnel unlimited military aid in)#now hopefully China never does that... but... that's the really scary one#not that there's not a lot of bad all over the world but like...#the middle east... while it has effects everywhere (most of all on the people living through things)

This event is making my head spin. I really thought the only gambling component was pulling, but this event’s ranking rewards are also a gamble. Theoretically, 500 keys = 1 item. Theoretically, 7 items = 1 rank up. So my dumbass thought 500x7x35 meant we could just finish the event after 122,500 keys but NOPE. The items that come out of the boxes are freaking random, which means it’s totally possible to use thousands of keys and not go up a single rank.
So currently I’m stuck on rank 14, but have used over 100,000 keys to do so. That’s over 7100 keys per rank. For a 9 day event, every day we need to clear 4 ranks to have a chance of finishing it and getting the UR coin at rank 35…. But how many keys do we really need to get there? At my current rate I am guessing 250,000. Is anyone else feeling like this Live Emotion is predatory? Jesus.
Currently I've heard a lot of people are getting the max UR between 200,000 and 280,000 keys. Entirely depending on luck, so yeah it's....rough. But we have a long time to do it, and as people are getting further into the event, more people will have at least the base UR and SR as their guests, or have given in and pulled for Nagi and Shion. And that will up your keys a lot.
I've definitely seen some people already call out how predatory it is to make tiering as a whole, and now just getting decent rewards with this event type, almost dependent on the gacha cards. Because it's not like the cards are gonna match the event boy, so you're likely pulling for a boy you don't want. And they're doing this with a Heavens gacha which is liked the least??? It is...unfortunate.
But unless you're tiering, it should??? Still be as feasible as the previous events, just a bit more work and luck dependent than before. And we're gonna hope they listen to complaints and change it.
There's also a kinda random pity system? It's not consistent at all, I've gotten after only 1 dupe but sometimes not even after 5 dupes. But occasionally one of the boxes and the remaining items will start shaking. Click the shaking box! It will guarantee one of the items you need! But it's random when it shows up. And I think I saw someone say the auto pull might ignore it sometimes?? It's clicked the shaking box the couple times I've seen it though so idk.
Tips to maximize your keys, song length and difficulty matter the most! ESPECIALLY LENGTH. So you're just gonna want to play Masato's solo the entire time. I think I get 100 more keys on his than any other? And I've seen people say if you wanna not have such a long song, Shion's solo is a bit more time efficient. Also Shion's solo matches the color of the Nagi card, so you'll see more Nagi guests there. But people can set, and you can see, Nagi on Masato's as well.
Difficulty def matters a bit. I can only hand play on normal and hard typically, and I get 60 more on hard. Auto subtracts enough I'm still better off playing on normal before I auto expert. So hand play the highest difficulty you can manage!
And honestly, just scour/refresh the guest page to find those with the event boosts. Don't bother with just any guest. The boost is a LOT. And if you find like a max Nagi (because they're out there), use 5lp or the most you can. Probably not 10 unless you're tiering and spending bottles, because the it's still not very efficient for your lp. 10lp is really only when you need to be fast and don't care about your lp.
People are still figuring this stuff out but that's what's been learned so far!

hello friend! for a while now i've seen some of ur DnD ocs and i was just curious, do you have any advice for beginners getting into DnD? i've always heard about it, but doing research is a bit overwhelming sometimes with all the different things there are to know?
Anon, you have come to the right place!!! I love talking about dnd! And I absolutely am willing to answer questions about it! And don't worry, I totally get it. There is a lot that goes into DnD. But the good thing is that you don't need to know all of it, at least not at first!
I've only been playing for a little over a year. My first real exposure to dnd was watching Critical Role, but I had wanted to play for a long time before that. That got me pretty familiar with the rules and how the game works in general. (I started with Campaign 2.)
Watching some kind of dnd show (there's a lot of them, so look for one that really captures your heart!) is a good intro because you get to watch other people play, and so you learn the rules and the game flow, but you don't have to worry about keeping track of it all yourself. (Just bear in mind that some of them may be using homebrew rules that are different from the regular ones. But even so, you can still get a feel for the game!) (Like I said, my go-to recommendation for people just starting out is Critical Role Campaign 2, but I've also heard amazing things about Dimension 20, and Not Another DnD Podcast, among others.) (If anyone has any DnD show recs, feel free to put them in the comments!)
Another tip is: If you are in high school or university, check out your local clubs! I can guarantee that any university of a decent size is going to have a tabletop club, and depending on the high school they might also have a tabletop club. They often have "beginner's night" or something similar where more experienced members run oneshots specifically meant to introduce people to the game! (This is also a great way to find people with shared interests and make friends on campus.)
If you aren't in school, check if your local library hosts any kind of tabletop event! I know some do. And if that doesn't work out, then looking for a group online is a good thing to do. The subreddit Looking For Game (r/lfg) is a good place to find groups to play with. (Either oneshots or full campaigns.) It can take a lot of trial and error to find a group and DM you feel comfortable with, but I found a pretty good group through there, and I know several other people who have, too! (There's also a "beginner friendly" flag that people use if their game is geared towards / accessible for people who are new to the game, so check that out!)
I'd say start with a (relatively low-level) oneshot before you dive into a full campaign. Test out how comfortable you are with the mechanics and everything. Also, make sure that you have a good DM for your first experience. Having a bad DM for your first experience will definitely sour it, and make you more reluctant to play again. But, if you do have a less-than-ideal first experience, don't write the game off immediately! Give it another shot. And if you decide DnD isn't your thing, that's totally fine! But try not to let one person ruin the whole thing for you.
But at the same time, if you're not having fun, don't force yourself! It's okay to leave a group because you don't enjoy it, no matter what the reason is! DnD should be fun and enjoyable, and you shouldn't ever feel uncomfortable.
Oh, and one more thing. DnD is far from the only ttrpg system out there! There's one for just about every theme or concept under the sun, if you look. (There's a Star Wars version of dnd, there's Vampire The Masquerade, there's Pathfinder, and those are just the big names! There's also tons and tons and tons of indie ttrpgs!) So if you find yourself not really vibing with DnD for one reason or another, maybe another ttrpg is more your speed!
Please let me know if you do end up getting into DnD! I would absolutely love to hear about your OCs and campaigns!! I really do mean it!! And if you feel comfortable coming off anon, I have a discord server for simmers who also play DnD. It's pretty small and cozy, and we aren't always super active, but everyone there is really sweet. And I've always intended to run a oneshot for some people in there. (I keep saying I'm gonna do it, but I never get around to it. My ADHD is kicking my ass lately. But it is an eventual goal!!)
Sorry for rambling so much. I do hope some of this is useful to you! And like I said, I'd love to hear an update in the future if/when you do end up finding a group!

Hey so how did you get started in making tabletop games? I really wanna start but I don't really know where I can look to even get basics. I haven't been able to find anything applicable to it.
Especially since I didn't really have much experience with any games that weren't video games til like a few years ago. And I can for sure see it as a case of a big part of learning is doing both playing games then tweaking those games to be somewhat different in ways that suit you but I just don't have anyone with the time to play.
i mean part of it is just. this has been a huge part of my life literally since elementary school
i loved pretending to be fantasy heroes and whatnot with my friends, and at some point long before i'd heard of D&D i was like "wow i sure am tired of forgetting what my character can do, i should write it down" and made my first ever character sheet which (a) was totally incomprehensible like a week later and (b) got lost super fast
after that i think i encountered the official warrior cats rpg, Warriors Adventure Game, and that inspired me to start making my own games using Word on the family computer. they were not good, as you might expect from a 4th grader
this post is turning out to be Long so
i got more serious about it in middle school. my school had a LARP program, and that was my first ever brush with actual organized RPG stuff. i loved it so much that i wanted to keep doing it over the summer, but didn't have access to the official rules, so i made my own for my friends and I.
one of those LARP friends got me into D&D, and i almost instantly ruined the campaign i ran for him and our other LARP friends with broken homebrew items because ough game design
i got serious about indie ttrpg design in high school. my big project was Reclaim, a sci fi RPG focused on supersoldiers reconquering the planet for humanity after an apocalypse (which gradually morphed into a critique of the military-industrial complex and american imperialism as my brain pathways connected properly in the later half of high school). it was the focus of my college application essay, but the game itself was not great in retrospect
nowadays i've further refined my approach to game design for my high power sci fi/fantasy anime bullshit project, Field of White Flowers, which is definitely the game i'm proudest of to date (it will probably have a basic version of the rules available for free some day, but the full game is enough of an undertaking that I will be charging some money for it)
the issue with advising people on how to make RPG systems is that there isn't necessarily a "right answer." RPGs can be anything. I can say "making a fun game is the most important part" but different people are going to have different definitions of fun.
like some people want crunchy systems with an answer to everything and rules for how many moles of oxygen you can hold in your lungs, while other people want stuff that's more rules light and lets them get right to the narrative and the roleplay. so i think the main thing when designing a game is pick an audience and stick to it: my games' primary audience is usually myself (i like systems with a lot of room for customization and optimization)
the other big tip i have is to play and read as many RPG systems as you can. almost everything has at least one good idea in it somewhere, and even stuff that's just Bad might give you a moment of inspiration while you're laughing at it.
as a suuuper bare-bones outline of what a game might consist of:
Resolution Mechanic: how does your game solve questions like "can i jump over this gap" or "can I cut this mountain in half?" for example, D&D does the whole thing with a d20 + modifiers compared to a number. other systems handle this in different ways. as a baseline it's nice for players' choices to matter, so i like to keep it somewhere between "flip a coin" and "consult thirteen tables based on your Class and Sense of Style, and then add four if you're a Gemini"
Combat: not every RPG needs combat, but the hobby has its roots in wargaming and so a lot of RPGs end up having some element of combat. your combat can be as simple as a more narrative game saying "make a skill check to kill this guy" (and thus overlapping entirely with your Resolution Mechanic) or it can be a multiple-hour tactical engagement like in Lancer
Stakes: what happens if players fail? can they fail? this is stuff like hit points in combat games, or the king finding out about your plans for the revolution in an intrigue game.
Character Creation: you need a Guy to be. how do you make the Guy? can the Guy be a dragon. an offshoot of this is progression: can my Guy get stronger? how?
this is very much an abstraction. games don't necessarily need all of these things. you can have a game without combat, and if you get silly enough with it you might be able to avoid character creation of any sort. it's harder to make a game without a resolution mechanic or stakes and have it be fun, but it's possible someone out there has done it
but that list of four things, in addition to more literary things like tone and setting, are sort of the basic framework my brain operates off of while making games.
at the end of the day, if you want to get good at something, the first step is to get out there and try it! good luck and happy game development!

To define how many genders there are, first you must define the differences between them.
On the old model you have two genders, which are defined by a physical difference. Then that broke down instantly because each person is different to each other person in a different way. So then they updated it to a biological difference, which also instantly broke down because biology is not consistent at all. So then they tried to update it to a purely psychological definition, and they couldn't because psychology doesn't work like that. Finally, they tried to make a logical definition, which didn't work (at all) because it has 0 components.
I tried to do this myself a while back, and it didn't work either, but i got much closer.
First, you have to ask yourself what a gender *actually* is. It is part of a person's identity, so to define it, you can use other parts of the person's identity, in other words, a list of questions; questions like "Do you see your body as male or female?", "What qualities in a person do you find attractive?", "How does someone's voice affect this?", "How does clothing affect this?", "Do any of these beliefs conflict?", "How have these things changed over time?", and other such philosophical questions.
This is where you run into a wall, because you need accurate, unchanging, solid answers, but the answers are the complete opposite; changing constantly, some being outdated or obfuscated in some unknowable way, some are tied to the wrong things, some are just outright impossible to express, and worst of all: every single one is continuos and fixed in some undefinable range. Every question adds new rules, and when you zoom in there are exceptions to the rules and exceptions to the exceptions, there are rules to the rules to the rules to the exceptions to the rules.
Very early on, people gave up. They drew a line in the sand and said "This is the divider. Here is here, and there is there". To keep the line, to stop people from going around or over or under or any other way, made a big square around the line. Today, there is no line anymore, just people claiming knowledge passed down through generations and intuition that there *should* be a line here, and that it shold be *somewhere in the ballpark* of here, and saying that there is no border line and there is nothing outside the border line. Unsurprisingly, this doesn't work.
So then a couple years ago, boxed-out 'outliers' got enough leverage to point out that there was a border, and the line was fake. These people tried to make a 'brand new' solution, never thought of before. they came up with 'Just make more lines bro'
And so we ended up with too many lines; fake lines, upside down lines, lines in the corner than nobody even uses, imaginary lines and lines on the wall, lines in the middle of nowhere that you can't even get to.
Stupid lines. Useless lines.
'yo this group of people kind of almost maybe share a quality that the other people mostly maybe hopefully don't have, we should draw a line to separate them', 'bro you can't just walk over the line bro', 'bro you're standing in the wrong place, go over there', 'yo this guy is standing on the line, we should make more lines around him'
Then there's people who think they're really smart, and say 'There are no lines, but the perimeter is totally real and not arbitrary at all'. This is still stupid, the perimeter line is still a line and people can still just walk over it.
Decades wasted on discussion and redrawing and rearranging lines, but still no real-world use for such a division.
No matter how concise, how incredibly specific, how well thought out your classification system is, there will always be outliers. There are 0 genders, you made them up.
pro tip: you can eviscerate any* transphobic argument if you just google 'ad natura' and 'surgery'.
note: antinatalist arguments can't be countered with pure logic, you have to use morality and ethics for those.
"it's going against nature" my guy, humanity is literally defined by its ability to modify its environment and itself.
if you love natural things so much then go die of influenza at 8 years old like nature intended.

Leech Lord: Quirks
Handling critique:
Troy:
He doesn't know them by name and they aren't showing respect when he turns to apprehend who just dared interrupt him rudely in front of others?
Dead. Immediately. There's no pause to hear them out or explain themself, their head will be crushed in that spined fist before he even finds out what they were about to say was criticism. There is no concern or regret over this later, he won't even care enough to remember their face.
Far more forgiving in private as he’s not needing to play up to his persona, but still - respect has to be shown.
Someone he is aware of by name/rank, or sees as having value?
Stay polite and factual and he'll listen. Hands clasped behind his back and shifting his eyes down their body as they speak, like they’re being measured, or read. He'll listen. The more numbers they can provide, the more clear data they can give that shows his information or his actions are wrong and what they are suggesting is better, the more likely he will take it on board. The God King is surprisingly polite and coldly calm when approached correctly, regardless of if he likes what he is being told.
- A close friend?
Nervous, picking at his teeth with the tips of his nails and finding it hard to meet their eyes. Hunched over himself and back bent even if he still towers over them, like a child who just wants to go hide. Stuttering. Apologetic to the point of becoming self deprecating even if what they were raising was only minor. It's not a big deal Troy, it's not, it was just some feedback. Calm down pal it's not worth getting worked up over, really. No you don't have to redo the whole thing, that's stupid come on y.. no you aren't stupid Troy, don't delete it all.. Oh, Troy.
Tyreen -
She does not hear, she does not see.
From anyone. It doesn't matter who they are. Unless you are her you're wrong, because she cannot be incorrect. She is infallible... you get it, right sweetheart?
She is omnipotent. She is a GOD. It's not that she's not listening to them, they don't mean enough for her even to be able to hear.
Seifa:
A stranger she views as someone below her in position?
Lol who are you. Who the fuck are you to think your opinion has any value, let alone matter to her? She's not even hearing what you're saying, you should be out of her presence by the time she stops eyerolling by the way, she's a busy woman. May not be healthy to waste more of her time.
Above her in authority or experience?
Silence. Not quite making eye contact, she's focusing on breaking down what you're saying and digesting useable information. A quick "Got it, I'll consider what you said" afterwards is genuine. She will consider it. That doesn't mean she will take it onboard, but she knows not to waste valuable data.
Friend?
A mix of both. She'll make it clear there's a very good chance her opinion on this is going to supersede yours, but that yours still has value for her. She might not make change changes right now based on it.. but it could affect how she approaches things in the future.
Pet Peeves:
Tyreen
A pet peeve, one she's irked by but doesn't spend a huge amount of time lost in rage over, is people treating her like she's airheaded. It happens often, especially when she's around Troy. She's not dumb. At all. Just because she's not a giant, brooding, scowling asshole who stands in silence while death-glaring everyone in the room, doesn't mean she's vacant or stupid. Just because she's louder, and more animated, doesn't mean she's ditzy.
In talks, the conversation always gets pointed to him for any discussion regarding anything with business or technical depth, she hates it. He's good at this shit, he's great with numbers and logic, but just because she communicates differently doesn't mean shes terrible. It's irritating.
Seifa:
Bullshit. She cannot abide hearing someone talk complete wank, and wants extremely direct clearcut conversation at all times bar if she's talking shit with friends. That's totally different.
She wouldn't manage to be in the same room as someone like Rhys or Katagawa for more than 5 minutes before she'd be ready to peel her own face off and eat her hands, so takes a lot of comfort from the "Please fucking kill me oh my god" gestures and grimaces Troy makes towards her from out of the speakers sight in meetings where they are dealing with the waves of verbal shite emanating from some corporate tool.
Troy:
Sleeping. It's just a fucking waste of time. It's completely pointless. Shut yourself down for hours so your body can release chemicals it needs? Fuck sake, just take the chemicals and stay awake, wow, well done, now you have 1/4 of your life back!
Dreams suck, waking up feeling like death sucks, spending hours laying awake staring at your ceiling while trying to make your "brain be quiet for once, just please.. be quiet.." for hours till you eventually pass out sucks, it's all stupid and wasteful and humans are dumb. He's dumb. Everyone's dumb.
Tenderness:
Tyreen:
She'd see wanting it as being weak in a way, Ty doesn't need anyone for any reason, so she doesn't need intimacy or tenderness. Why would she? She's not weak, or soft. Not being able to touch others isn't even a factor here, don't you dare imply it is. Intimacy is for people who aren't strong enough to exist alone, don't insult her by thinking she'd ever want it. She watches those romcoms for the PLOT and the character development, did you see in that last episode of Skags of fire that Miguel finally got with Santia-
Seifa: Born 2 Tender (physically and monetarily)
She thrives off receiving and giving affection to close friends and partners, it's a part of herself she masks off from her general authoritative persona for a lot of reasons, people often see being caring or gentle as weak, and that's not something she can afford in day to day life.
People close to her know she's very tactile platonically, and an arm around a waist or shoulders is the norm if you're spending much time with her and she's in good spirits. She doesn't shy away from touch in general and has no problem initiating contact with anyone she trusts and is close enough with that she doesn't feel like being caring is a risk around. Intimacy and close tenderness with a partner is her main love language, and something she absolutely expects be provided to her.
Troy: Viciously envious of it
The last time he encountered freely platonic intimacy was in his childhood, both with Leda and Tyreen before Ty started to resent showing affection more and more as they got older. He's desperately, pathetically lonely and fully aware of that, even if he lies to himself that he's fine.
He can't request it from the people he sleeps with as it means showing them the real man under the persona, and he's learned that people do not like the real Troy, so he's starved of real intimacy despite having so much access to other people's bodies nightly.
Not all bad:
Troy
His intelligence.
It's one thing he can think back on and remember only ever receiving positive comments on, right from as early as he can recall. He's always been able to consider problems in a way that lets him break them down and approach them from a unique angle. Dad said he was able to "Think outside the box", but he never really understood what that meant till the twins landed on Pandora and he watched so many people run themselves into the ground when such simple solutions were right there. Maybe not moral solutions, but simple solutions regardless! He absorbs and retains information very easily without any real effort, and when he found out that wasn't the norm, it became a genuine point of pride for him. Something he was great at, unrelated to his persona.
Hips and thighs
While most of his upper body causes him physical pain or he dislikes in general for multiple uhh.. reasons, he's never had any issues with his lower body. He loves the definition of his hips and lower stomach, his knees haven't ever had any joint pain, his legs have always been toned and strong without really needing any focus on them. He's worked himself to the bone trying to fix the things about his upper body that he hates, but his legs? Nah. Nice :ok_hand:
He's really good at looking after plants
He's really good at it. Lots of people can't keep plants alive but he can :) No one knows about it, but he does. It's nice to be good at something. It's just ...nice. :)
Seifa
Her waist and stomach.
Sei is relatively curvy for her height and is very thankful for her narrow waist, or she'd look like a solid rectangle in heeled boots no matter what she wore. It helps her keep up the soft fem aesthetic she likes to mix with punk bullshit without much effort, gives her a shape in baggy engineering overalls, and keeps belt pouches ON. Like, ON on. Shit is never going to move. She has a slight soft curve to her lower stomach she used to hate, thinking it made her look overweight , but as she grew into her twenties learned to love. Other people liked it, she was just being a dumb kid.
Physical strength
Years of working with lugging heavy machinery has given her an unexpectedly solid core, and she'd have no problem lifting something, say, Troy weight, and flipping it over her low center of balance without a sweat. Which is very fun. On things that are Troy weight.
The loyalty she builds with others without trying
She's not sure what it is exactly she's been doing to prompt it, but over the last few years she's come to realise she has a genuine support network across the system of people who are very loyal to her, and are there when needed to back her up in trades, or filling positions she needs, or getting her in touch with a group she's got no foot in. People she works with or gets to know trust her and remember her even years later, it's been a nice thing to find out about herself, though she wishes she knew what exact thing about her was the source of it.
Asks are Open!

you're overthinking it. also, being structural has to do with social systems, not just characters having motivations for their actions.
no, characters having motivations for their actions is not enough to be structural. i’m not saying that.
however, SU sees patterns of causality between character arcs. being in a position of privilege is more likely to have a negative impact on yourself and others through creating imbalanced relationships. it shows how societal factors - such as homeworld’s hierarchies of idolization and dehumanization - contribute to these outcomes, rather than blaming “bad apples” who are seemingly acting out of some Intrinsic, Biological Badness.
THAT’S when you start seeing structural storytelling at play.
many people prefer the morally individualistic narrative, because it stresses autonomy. it says society is no more than the, well, individuals who make it up, but i’m very tired of that lens. it often sort people into good vs evil based on arbitrary character deficiencies without a real cause, rather than questioning the societal forces that shaped them.
some people protest to that - they say that this implies, for instance, that people in unprivileged positions can never cope with their circumstances. to which the structuralist replies - they can! but these systems still exist, and impact people.
THAT is where steven universe excels. not merely providing character motivation, but showing how every character is impacted by their socialization. how the idolization of the figures on top leads to suffering for everyone in the hierarchy - including the diamonds themselves. not because the individual diamond is good or bad (rose had to give up the diamond role before she could adequately challenge it - it was never enough to be a “better” diamond), but because the system itself is deeply flawed.
this is also replicated in “smaller” systems, down to individual character parallels.
for instance, take jasper and amethyst. what really separates them isn’t some biological moral difference - they have rather similar temperaments. what matters is their socialization. how one grew up with an overall supportive family who, albeit flawed, valued her for herself, while the other’s main source of structure was the unjust hierarchies of homeworld. one was taught such social systems were good, the other was taught their own value outside the system.
that’s why amethyst sees jasper as a kindred spirit. she knows that, in another life, that could easily have been her.
as someone who’s taken developmental psychology can tell you - even in those miraculous recovery stories where individuals overcome tragic odds, there tends to be more resources available to them than maladaptive cases. very few people become maladaptive without any struggle whatsoever, and very few people rise up without any kind of resources.
and most of those resources? you guessed it, are sociological / structural in nature - a secure attachment to a caregiver, supportive family, friends, access to a safe neighborhood, the values instilled by society, ect.
heck, pearl very specifically calls out individualistic narratives in season one:
as her rant continues - “they want to blame aaaaall the world’s problems on some single enemy they can fight, rather than a complex network of interrelated forces beyond anyone’s control”.
like. pearl TOLD YOU this was going to be a structural story in season one, and yet you all kept making these weird assumptions about how there’s Totally gonna be a 100% evil villain above white, who is just super duper evil, and just wants to control everyone for no reason and Definitely can’t be redeemed.
pro tip: next time you’re making a steven universe theory, do it from a structural lens. discard your individualistic assumptions. it will save you so much trouble.

best options trading subscription service South Carolina While it is certainly a wise thing to look towards the trading methods of a successful trader, duplicating the steps of the trader alone may not prove to be the best strategy. The reason for this is that there are other factors that go into the process of developing a trading strategy than just the execution of the trades. Personal factors will go into the development of a methodology. In some instances, there will be psychological factors that will be developed into the trading plans. Understanding such components is vital to exploring a trading method to make sure it is valuable to your goals. Actually, it would not hurt to explore your own psychological factors and facets prior to looking seriously at trading.

No, that is not said as a means of undermining anyone's motivation, morale, or desire. Rather, it is meant as a way of properly forecasting the management of your venture and assessing the risk of getting involved with options trading. You also need a plan for when the market goes against your strategy, so that you don't make decisions because you're panicking. Yes, trading in options needs to be looked from the perspective of managing a small business. When operating a small business, you need to assess the risk associated with a venture. You also need to assess the risks and potentials associated with the success or failure of the business. This same ideology needs to be put towards options trading. If you can honestly assess yourself as someone with the self discipline to follow through with a reliable options trading strategy, then you may very well be extremely successful with options trading. Also, how well can you handle losing trades? Are you able to handle losses and pick things up and start the process over again? If you are then you may very well embody the proper psychological makeup for succeeding with options trading. Those that cannot handle the pressure of the occasional loss would be better served looking towards another investing strategy. It has been said success starts with the right mental makeup. options trading how to South Carolina These are excellent options strategies but only if you trade them using a specific and definite stop loss point. Yes, most options trading beginners trade such unlimited loss potential credit spreads with stop loss points but most of them give in to emotion when it's time to stop loss and hold their positions beyond their stop loss points in hope that things will turn around, which most often, they never do. Professional options traders always trade unlimited loss potential positions with an AUTOMATED stop loss point. That's right, automated stop loss that works without human involvement. This can be in the form of a stop limit, contingent order or trailing stop loss order. As long as you do not have to physically execute the stop loss. Physically executed stop losses are stop losses that rarely gets executed. Remember that. Buying options with your whole account and trading unlimited loss potential options positions without stop loss points are the two main reasons most options beginners lose their shirt. Take heed of my advice here and you would go through your initial options trading years in much more safety. How to Learn Options TradingMost people think they can learn options trading the very same way they learnt stock trading, which is just buying an options on stocks they think will do well. It's just that simple isn't it? Well, the simplicity ends when they discover that there are not one kind of option but two and each kind of option has countless strike prices and expiration dates! That's right! They suddenly realize that there is much much more to options trading than stock trading. Yes, stock options are a totally different ball game from stock trading even through they are used for the very same purpose of profiting from moves that stocks make. Yes, the fact that you are presented with so many different strike prices and expiration dates instantly tells you that there is no way to just pick on and profit. Much less trying to learn by trial and error. Yes, trial and error is very expensive in options trading as you cannot hold on to a mistake like in stock trading forever hoping for a come back. Options expire so options don't give you the ability to hold on to your mistakes forever. So, what is the correct way to learn? To learn how to trade options, you need to first of all learn what call options and put options are. All optionable stocks come with both call options and put options. Call options allow you to buy a stock at a fixed price no matter what price the stock is and put options allow you to sell a stock at a fixed price no matter what price the stock is. This means that if you buy a call option and the price of the stock goes up, the call option would make a profit because you still have the right to buy at a price lower than the stock price.
spx options trading course South Carolina
However, when you buy call options on stocks that didn't eventually move up as expected, the call options can expire worthless by expiration, taking your WHOLE account with it if you bought those call options with all the money you had! This problem is made even more pronounced by the fact that options have a definite expiration date that goes from a few months to a year for some stocks but never forever. This means that you do not have the luxury of holding on to bad trades forever, hoping they will come back in a few years time. Professional options traders like me only enter a single position with money we can afford to lose. If I intend to lose no more than 10% of my account on any one trade, I do not use more than 10% of my account in a single trade. That's right, you NEVER buy a single options position or options contract with all the money you have! Although that would have made sense in stock trading, it is pure suicide and gamble in options trading. The other reason is trading credit spreads or naked option writing without using stop loss. Many options beginners were taken in by the apparent "free money" phenomena of writing naked options positions unaware that most of these credit strategies have unlimited loss potential. For instance, if you wrote call options (shorting call options), you would make a fixed premium in profit if the stock went downwards or sideways. Some "gurus" call this "playing bookmaker". Well, they are right that you are playing bookmaker to gamblers by selling options to them but they forgot to mention the fact that sometimes, gamblers win big too. When you write call options, your position will make an incrementally bigger loss as the stock price rises! It will continue to make bigger and bigger loss as long as the stock continues to rise.
m3 options trading system South Carolina These stories have no doubt cast a shadow over options trading and there are even people who now tout that options trading is as risky as futures trading. Well, strange thing is, after more than 15 years of trading options, I have never experienced losing all my money within a few days nor going bankrupt. This led me to wonder why these things happen to some options traders. After some investigation, I conclude that it is not options trading that breaks accounts but specific things some options traders tend to do, especially beginners, that opens the door to such financial disasters. I narrowed these reasons down to two main ones. The first of these is that some options traders trade options just like they trade stocks; buying call options with their whole account on that one "hot stock. "Yes, this is the number reason why most options beginners lose their shirt. Most beginners to options trading do with call options exactly what they do with stocks when they have a "hot tip"; throwing their whole account into that single "hot" trade. Now, this isn't that big a problem in stock trading because if the stock didn't move as expected, the trader could simply continue to hold the position until it does, sometimes for years. When you write call options, your position will make an incrementally bigger loss as the stock price rises! It will continue to make bigger and bigger loss as long as the stock continues to rise. This is what is known as an unlimited loss position. This loss is often, or always, much bigger than the premium you received from selling the options. Before you know it, your entire account is wiped out on this one trade because the stock refused to go down as you expected it to. Does that mean we should not trade credit spreads or naked writes ever again? Not really. These are excellent options strategies but only if you trade them using a specific and definite stop loss point. Yes, most options trading beginners trade such unlimited loss potential credit spreads with stop loss points but most of them give in to emotion when it's time to stop loss and hold their positions beyond their stop loss points in hope that things will turn around, which most often, they never do. billy williams options trading course South Carolina So, unlike stock trading where you simply buy the stock when you think it will go up, options trading make you think one more step deeper into the possible degree of move in order to maximize profits.
1 options trading course South Carolina For instance, if you wrote call options (shorting call options), you would make a fixed premium in profit if the stock went downwards or sideways. This will certainly help promote your ability to discover the proper answer to whether or not you are cut out for options trading. How can you discover whether or not you have the mindset of an options trader? The first step involves honestly answering whether or not you are someone that possesses the discipline to be an options trader. Some may believe they have the discipline to succeed. However, believing you possess certain attributes to a specific degree and actually possessing those attributes to the proper degree are two completely different things. Knowing exactly where you stand in terms of your mindset and your levels of discipline will aid in boosting your chances of success. For example, someone who needs to keep fiddling with their account by buying and selling every few days isn't someone who should be investing in options! The commissions alone will eat you up. Similarly someone who like a lot of excitement in their trading should probably stay away from options. Having a quality options trading strategy is helpful. Putting the options trading strategy through to fruition is even more helpful. But, once again, there is a big difference in having the desire to follow such a process and actually following through with it. Those that are able to follow through with such steps may be limited in number.

so i heard you're a dm-- i'm trying to assemble my party and write a story but i have no clue what i'm doing. do you have any tips???
I’m gonna start this with a disclaimer: I’m a pretty new DM myself, so if that makes you want to take this with a grain of salt, that’s totally fair and I would definitely recommend getting advice from a bunch of people. That being said, here we go:
I think the number one thing to remember when you’re a DM before you even get started preparing ANYTHING is that your job is to make the game as entertaining as possible for your players. That means keeping in mind what their interests are and what they want to be doing in the game. The way I did this, and in my opinion the easiest way, is to have a session zero and talk with your players about what exactly they want to have happen. Are they all about action with little actual plot, or would they want to be interacting with NPCs all the time? Do they like puzzles and riddles, or do they absolutely hate them? My players happen to really like figuring out the puzzles I throw at them, so when I was designing a cave system at one point, I leaned more heavily towards puzzles than just straight up combat. I also asked them before I started planning out the next leg of their journey if they would be interested in exploring their character’s backgrounds or not, and once I got a positive answer I started to incorporate them more. Even when we’re in the middle of a session, I’ll check in with them and make sure they’re all having fun. Even brutal encounters that leave them just a few hit points away from dying or intense moral dilemmas that leave them scrambling should still be FUN on some level, even if that’s a little morbid. To summarize: if the players are having fun, then you’re doing your job right, so check in with them to make sure everything is going well.
Okay, on to the rest of it. Here’s another important thing to remember: no matter how carefully you plan out something ahead of time, your players WILL find some new solution to the situation you didn’t plan on. My first session with my current group, I ended up improvising a story for a solid hour and a half because instead of the party sneakily stealing a map in the dead of night like I’d naively assumed they’d do, they just grabbed it right out of the owner’s hand and demanded information from him, which lead to a lot of key information being revealed WAY ahead of schedule. My point is this: get used to improvising, and don’t get too attached to the story you have prepared. Sometimes your players will come up with something better than what you wrote. Don’t squash down their idea just because you wrote something else ahead of time! Get ready to make stuff up on the fly, and reward creative solutions. Or, if they’re making bad decisions and messing up something you thought wouldn’t be a problem, let the natural consequences of their actions happen in game. NOTHING is set in stone, and the game is more fun that way. You’d be surprised at some of the really awesome stuff you can come up with under pressure. So let your story evolve based on what your players decide to do, and don’t be afraid of improvisation.
What else, what else… okay, another important thing is to avoid a TPK early on, especially if you’re all new, but not to be afraid to rough your players up because the game isn’t any fun if they automatically win everything. Sometimes it can be really tricky to find the balance. Erring on the side of too easy is probably the way to go early on, because if you’re all new and figuring this all out together you’re all going to start out by making some pretty dumb mistakes and having your first ever character die in their first battle isn’t the best introduction to dnd ever. Plus, it’s fun to feel like a badass when you totally destroy something sometimes. On the other hand, if you make an encounter way too hard, there are ways to come back from that as well. Don’t let your players get away unscathed, but maybe your monster “forgets” to recharge their breath weapon, or an NPC ends up rolling 10 points of damage instead of 22. Or, maybe someone finds an old potion of healing inside a chest that you definitely planned on being there ahead of time. Just remember that THEY don’t know exactly what you have in your notes, and adjust accordingly. The Kobold Fight Club is your best friend for encounters, by the way. Sometimes the CR is a bit off, especially for larger groups, but it’s been really useful for me to help scale encounters so far.
As for inspiration for planning the story, I’ve found that pulling from character’s back stories is great. It grounds your players in the setting, and helps them feel like they really are incorporated in the game instead of being random murder hobos. I’ve also gotten inspiration from poking around the dnd subreddit and the tag on tumblr. You probably shouldn’t copy other people’s ideas directly, but there’s nothing wrong with using elements in them as a stepping stone towards your own campaign’s plot. Think about what you find interesting in a story, and TALK TO YOUR PLAYERS about what they would find interesting. Just run little things by them, like, “Hey, how would you all feel about doing a murder mystery arc” or “Would you like to really get into so-and-so’s origin story?” Getting a direction to go in from your players can be fantastic, both for you and for them.
Last point I’m gonna make since this got pretty long (sorry about that lol): DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP! I ask people (who aren’t my players) for help planning the campaign all. the. time. My twelve year old sister knows EVERYTHING I have planned since I’ve used her as a soundboard for different ideas so often. If you scroll through my dnd tag, you can see all the times I’ve asked my followers and other blogs for help planning and running a campaign. There are tons of people on tumblr and Reddit and all over the internet that would be more than happy to help you with any specific questions you have. If you feel stuck - feel free to ask for advice! There’s probably someone else out there who had the same question at one point and would be willing to help you out.
GOOD LUCK YOU CAN DO THIS I BELIEVE IN YOU

Considering Making Some Changes? Home Improvement Tips To Help Even people that are not experienced will be able to do home improvement projects. Besides making your home more livable and attractive, good home improvement work can significantly boost its market value. The article below has tips to help you start improving your home sans stress. If you are planning a major project, hire someone professional to create the plans. You risk some serious design and structural errors if you or a friend don't understand some basic principles. A professional designer can create meaningful plans that also meet safety restrictions and requirements. Do you have bubbles in your vinyl floor? Simply cut a small slit in the bubble to release the air pocket. This part of the fix is only temporary, however. However, you will need to put some glue in there in order to keep it attached to the floor. Syringe glue is a great choice for this task. When you are painting, remember to put down plastic to protect the floors. This will help ensure wet paint doesn't ruin them. One inexpensive and effective way to protect flooring is using layers of old newspapers. Alternatively, you can use plastic sheeting or a painter's tarp to keep paint drips off of your floors. If you want to make changes to your home, start with your kitchen. First, mix TSP and water half and half and scrub the walls. This mixture will not only remove grease but also prep the walls for a new coat of paint. Neutral, tan colors work well in all kinds of kitchens. Once you've finished re-painting, you'll be impressed with how dramatic the difference is. Ask a reputable professional to help you inspect the condition of your existing floors before you decide to lay down all new hardwood. You may already have wooden floors that are hidden by old carpet or vinyl flooring that are waiting to be uncovered and refurbished. If this is the case, you'll just need to strip the old carpet or flooring and refinish the natural floor underneath. Take a good look at your porch when considering improvements. Your porch will be the very first thing many visitors will lay their eyes on when coming to your home. Keep your porch clean and add tasteful enhancements. Flowers, nice furniture and great lighting can be used to dress up an otherwise boring and bland porch. As an added benefit, you can enjoy an increased home value. Know what you;re using to unclog your drains. Not all cleaners are made the same, and some are extremely harsh. Do not use crystallized drain cleaners that will damage your pipes over the long run. Use drain cleaners that are compatible to your septic tank. Be sure to install a peephole in each of your exterior doors. Before letting anyone in, see who is lurking outside. Installing a peephole is affordable and can be done quickly. The only tool you'll need is a drill, and the project takes very little time to complete. A peephole will offer you some peace of mind when someone is knocking at your door. A design philosophy that many people are using is the age-in-place design strategy. This meas that you should age before the improvements on your home do. Age-in-place additions will increase your comfort both now and in the future, whether you are planning to sell your home or not. Try to use only natural materials for any home improvement projects being done inside. Materials such as stone, ceramic and wood are much better than their synthetic equivalents. They are more durable and attractive than man-made alternatives. You will find that you will save money by not having to replace them over many years. Making the inside interior walls of your home soundproof is a sound investment, pardon the pun. It would be quite luxurious to soundproof your entire home; however, this would be quite an expensive project. Bedrooms, equipment rooms, and bathrooms are the most vital areas for soundproofing. The kitchen could also use some soundproofing if it's fairly enclosed. You might want to update the window treatments in your home, so that you can make it fit with the season. To make the ceiling "raise", put the curtain rods higher. This will make the eye think the room is higher as well. Always paint before doing anything else. Painting your ceilings and walls will go faster and easier if you get it done before installing your flooring. No matter how many drop cloths you lay down, a little paint is bound to end up on your lovely new floor. When deciding on a home renovation, think about your local curcumstances. Do you really want a deck if the wind frequently blows strongly where you live? If you don't take the weather into account when making your improvement, you may be stuck with an improvement that is useless. Ensure you plan thoroughly when you are beginning a home improvement. Before starting your project, it is best to have all your costs mapped out along with the time it should take you. If you are making repairs to your gas system, you need to turn off the gas first. Smoking is not the only thing that can cause sparks. Also, just because you're not disconnecting the line doesn't mean you didn't let any gas loose when moving things around. You can easily accent alcoves in your home by applying an accent color or adding wallpaper. If you're only painting a small area, consider purchasing sample sizes of paint rather than a full gallon. Do not underestimate home improvement projects as you begin them. It is not possible to be 100% positive of anything that can happen during a project, but you should know the risks associated with it. If you are well-prepared at the outset, you will have no problem navigating surprises along the way. This article explained that there are many types of home improvement that can be done without the help of a professional. Although fixing your home can seem intimidating, you will reap many rewards. It is hoped this article has provided some information about home improvement projects you can easily accomplish.
Home Improvement Guidelines For Success And Safety
Partaking on home improvement projects is a good way to improve your house's needs and it could also save you a lot of money. This article provides a host of ideas and tips that will be useful to you no matter how far along you are in the planning process.
If you are unable to get rid of a persistent squeak in a door, you may need to replace the hinge. You can purchase hinges online or at your local hardware store. Just take apart the hinge and simply attach every side to the frame and door. Line up all the parts and put in new pins.
Use empty two-liter bottles as storage containers for your kitchen. These bottles are clear and see-through and can protect virtually all your dry goods, including sugar and flour. You can store these on a shelf or in the freezer or fridge. To use the contents of the containers, simply take of the cap and then pour.
There is a lot that one person can get done in terms of home improvement, but you should never be afraid to seek out help from family and friends. Get commitments beforehand. They may have other things to do if you ask them once you start. It might take you quite a while to finish up, which may put additional pressure on you to get it done.
When doing any repair work or home improvement project, debris will be generated. It is therefore necessary to designate a space for the debris. Removing the materials can be costly, so planning ahead is a great way to realize substantial savings and keep the project moving.
A coat rack mounted on your wall is a nice way to display necklaces and other jewelry. Only display costume jewelry - nothing expensive. If you display your jewelry nicely, it keeps things organized and looks pretty too. Keep your favorite necklaces within easy reach.
Think about installing motion detectors near the door that you use as the entrance. You can save significantly on your electricity bills by only turning on lights when they are needed. They are also a great tool to scare of any potential thieves, as the lights turn on as they approach the house.
If your home does not already have a shower, you should definitely consider installing one. A shower is better when you have children and is easier to use than a bathtub. A shower that takes five minutes will use only one-fourth the water of a full bathtub.
Often, people will cut costs by purchasing cabinets that come without any hardware. However, you can visit a home improvement store for cabinet knobs, handles and drawer pulls. There are also online options. Choose hardware that has a vintage appearance or an Op Art look, whatever matches your decor.
Place furniture away from your walls to make your rooms appear larger. In addition to making your room looker bigger, it also makes it look more modern.
A simple and inexpensive way to give a new look to any room is to purchase and install new outlet covers. Outlet covers become dirty and worn with use. Installing new ones can help make everything look fresher.
If your bedroom set is tired and worn, you might want to consider building a new set yourself. This may be hard to do, but with some patience and effort, you can make a beautiful piece that you can be proud of for many years.
Wallpaper borders in your bathroom change the whole look. Wallpaper trim is inexpensive and come in a wide variety of styles. Wallpaper trim is very easy to use. Putting up a piece of art in your bathroom can make it look nice.
You can get a bug savings by doing fast and easy improvments. Your incandescent bulbs are a drain on power; convert to EnergyStar certified bulbs, and you may save 75% on lighting. Adding insulation to a water heater helps save you money and cuts down on energy waste.
Before doing any work on any kind of gas appliance, you must be sure the gas is turned off completely. Remember, failing to do this can result in dangerous burns and even a gas explosion that causes a total loss on your home. And simply moving things around may cause some gas to leak.
One of the most commonly overlooked considerations for home improvement projects is finding an appropriate way to dispose of debris. Large projects will make for a lot of debris that needs to be hauled away, and you need to know how to move it off your property easily and safely. Before getting started on your project, designate a particular spot to hold the debris and garbage until you can have it removed.
Give yourself time to prepare before tackling a project around the house. When painting, for example, you will need to cover all your furniture in that room before starting. If paint ends up splattering on your furniture, it may be nearly impossible to remove. Sheets can be used to cover the furniture and protect it from possible drips or smears from paint.
Join your community to improve and build your toolbox to save money on your home improvement jobs. This can prevent you from having to purchase an expensive specialty tool that you'll use only once. Instead, you can borrow it from the neighborhood handyman who uses it on a more regular basis. You can also go a step further and share home improvement tips.
Make sure your home is balanced. Improve the sound quality in your house. Balancing can help fix a wobbly, noisy ceiling fan. Tighten the screws attaching the blades and blade holders to make sure your fan is properly secured. Take the time to thoroughly clean dust off of the blades and motor housing when adjusting screws, because dust can cause a noisy imbalance in your fan.
The tips from this article will help you complete your home improvements like a professional. By following the tips in this article, you will have a home that looks great and fits in perfectly with your needs. The more work you do, the better your home will be, so use this home improvement advice.
