Speaking of that big ass risk I took buying kh on switch bc I dont have access to play it on any other platform and I wanted to treat myself---the game has been fine (save for bad framerate in cutscenes) all the way thru until I got to the whinnie the pooh area. It keeps on freezing and not letting me complete the level at all! Theres a chance that the issue is on my own internet and latency so Im gonna try again in a day, but if the issue persists Im gonna file a request for a refund. If its literally unplayable whats the point. :(

Entry #1 and 2: What Dreams May Come?

There was always something special about the Shroud and those native to Gridania knew it. Yvaine hadn't really had good control of her magic in fact she had difficulty tapping into the aetherflow that was until she met her husband. For some reason something woke inside of her that she couldn't explain. When they were both in danger during a camping trip she had somehow created a shield after Renias had been hurt because of her clumsiness. What was dangerous about this was she was using her own aether from within. Many found such a thing dangerous and immediately after the incident her training became more focused by the conjurers' guild to make sure she didn't make such a mistake again. It was through her training that memories hidden away within her started to come forward. Shades of the past that felt real and in fact were. Locked away in her mind were memories of past lives and hidden knowledge that made things like drawing a bowstring feel natural to her. And part of those memories were variations of her husband and those she had met in this life.  

Whenever she able to dream these memories would form giving her a view of that time in another place where she was an archer, a thief or even a conjurer. Every emotion could be felt as she relived these moments to where in the middle of the night she'd wake up realizing it was just a 'dream.' Constantly she was plagued by these memories but it was her fighting them that caused her the most pain. When she started to accept them she was able to pick what she wanted to see and even allow her husband to view them in a bond formed with aether. Seeing themselves together enduring hardships or even finding love again seemed to make them stronger. They promised not to tell anyone about this as the mark on her back labeled her as a 'reborn' thus she had to hide until she knew she could trust those around her with this secret. A heavy burden for one only twenty-one autumns old.  In a journal she kept writing down the memories she had seen even if they weren't in order to help her reference them later on if something seemed out of place. 

The fog was dense in what seemed like the Shroud before the founding of Gridania was official. It was hard to tell what this fog was but it wasn't like the sort one would see in the morning after a heavy rain where the cool air meets with the warmth of the morning sun. Everything was so quiet and in the distance the sound of heavy hooves were heard. She stayed huddled with him hoping they would go unnoticed in the thicket where they had taken refuge from the rain earlier. It was still night and not even the sound of a cricket's chip was heard. The chill in the air felt like Death itself was paying  a visit to take those who had been slain at the camp just moments ago. They were part of the few that managed to survive. Was this Death coming to take them because they cheated it? No. It couldn't be. 

The heavy steps grew louder as it seemed to come closer to where they hid. Their hands held tight to each other while both tried to calm their hearts while keeping the urge to run buried. The echoing of her heartbeat rang in her ears and made it feel like at any moment her heart would burst from her chest out of fright. A glint of steel was seen along with a fearsome visage of a tall figure wearing armor that could have been crafted by Death itself sat upon a horse with red eyes that glowed. Despite the fog this was clear to them and both held their breath. For a moment the horseman stopped near the thicket taking a moment to decide if it would go forward or move another direction. It felt like an eternity before both were finally able to breathe again. Odin had left them in peace finding them unworthy. Children weren't worthy to kill. It was dishonorable. At least this is what she told herself. Eventually the fog lifted and all seemed back to normal in the Shroud. For now. The two left their hiding spot to see another hoping to find another place to call home after losing theirs to bandits that seemed to have met their fate at the hands of Odin. 

As Yvaine looked over the entry she shuddered remembering how it felt during that memory despite just reading her own recounting of it from the journal. Her eyes closed as she let out a deep breath then opened her eyes again. It was hard hiding the memories of the past while pretending to be a perky youth that was due to have a baby in the spring. She hoped that her child wouldn't have to deal with memories like this but if he or she had to then Yvaine would do all she could to help them through it. A mother's work was never done when it came to shielding their child or children. Carefully she put the quill down then closed the journal seeing the ink had dried and locked it away in her desk. Leading a double life or in her case many lives was exhausting and chaotic. Maybe once she had viewed all of them they would stop haunting her. Until then she'd just smile and pretend everything was okay.Theme(s): Specter and Synthsis
