Heroes of Both Sides 07. Field Day
Cadet Roban Queens was happy to be back on Iridonia. For all its dangers and hazards, it was still his home. Captain Tyre, bless his kind soul, had given him permission to take everyone to his hometown of Joharic. Which was why they were here, a hundred and twenty kilometers from their training zone, engaging in some questionably sanctioned downtime. Joharic had a lot to offer in terms of entertainment; it had three retired master chefs who had opened an affordable restaurant to cater only to the locals—and their friends. There was a museum of history, full of replicas and interactive programs on Zabraki history. There were many sprawling vineyards, including the one owned by the Queens family. There was a large ranch where race berogs were reared. There was a local hot spring, though it was dangerous to use it for longer than forty minutes at a time. There were also enough bars and cafes for those seeking hookups. All of his squad mates and trainers were perusing a different one of these attractions, but Roban decided to tour the spaceport. It wasn’t large, but it had some of the most elegant architecture he’d seen in such a facility. The whole place had bas reliefs carved on every one of the bricks and tiles that it was built up of. The pillars, the domes, the arches, the spires… they were all beautiful. A visiting Alderaanian had once remarked that it was all a little much, as if someone was trying to fit every known kind of architecture into one, amorphous mess. Which was why no one exported wines to that world anymore. And the master chefs, who held a banquet on Coruscant once every year, had implemented a no-Alderaanians-allowed rule. Today, Roban was admiring a statue of Bao Dur, the genius scientist who had helped end the Mandalorian Wars, three centuries prior. He stood beside the woman everyone believed he held as his one, true love: the Jedi Exile, Raya Kol. “It’s gorgeous, isn’t it?” a human beside him sighed. “Such artful craftsmanship!” “That, it is.” Roban turned to find a beautiful human woman standing by his side. She had long hair which was dyed electric blue at the ends, and pink above the roots. Her lovely eyes were the same blue as a jolly sea under a summer sky. She was a little on the plumper side, a far cry from the grizzled, sculpted men and women he was used to training with. Her lustrous hair was held in a ponytail by a pretty butterfly clasp.

went down a deep rabbithole of thinking about blorbos, and my SWTOR blorbo is Quinn, so... I made him a little family :3 I like to think about them interacting with my Sith Warrior, Nes'ria, who also has a decently-sized family, so when she and Quinn get married it's just a huge clan now lmao
All of them except for Rymar are OCs; Rymar we know the name + rank + death of from the SWTOR Encyclopedia under Quinn's entry. I did make up what I think he looks like, though.
miscellaneous facts about the Quinn clan that I couldn't fit in the headshots:
Solesta has a dislike of droids, finding them creepy. She also dislikes cybernetics and cyborgs. Ironically, and unbeknownst to her, her grandson Malavai will eventually end up with a woman whose family owns a large cybernetics company.
Solesta disappeared during a top secret mission when Malavai was around 15 years old. She and her crew were declared officially dead a year after her ship disappeared.
Solesta's husband passed when their kids were young. I imagine he was on track to being a rising star in the Imperial military, but he was cut down by a Jedi or something.
Rymar and Ridal are twins (Rymar is the older one).
Ridal disapproved of Rymar’s marriage to Mianna, believing she was too fragile for him. Despite this, she helps her son care for Mianna.
Ridal is lowkey disappointed that neither her son nor her nephew followed her footsteps into Imperial Intelligence. She doesn't know Halic refused to, given what happened to his father (murdered by a petulant Sith Lord). At least in the medical corps, any Sith he deals with are unconscious or too weak to threaten him.
Halic calls Malavai his baby cousin, despite only being a few months older than him. It annoys Malavai, who nonetheless reciprocates Halic's familial affection.
Halic jokingly complains that Malavai slept with a Sith before he could. He privately thinks Malavai is insane for falling for a Sith in the first place, and worries about his cousin (he later learns he doesn't have to, given Nes'ria's equal devotion to Malavai).
Halic has flirted with every member of Nes'ria's crew. Vette thinks he's a riot, Jaesa was flattered but embarrassed, and Pierce is debating sleeping with him to piss off Malavai.
Mianna witnessed her husband's death at the hands of the Republic force, and the trauma of that, plus her subsequent injury, rendered her largely nonverbal. She has only spoken Rymar or Malavai's name since being admitted to the hospital. The rest of the time, she communicates via either writing or signing.
Many Imperials view Mianna's situation with disdain, describing her as weak-willed and a drain on resources. It's only the lingering prestige of the Quinn family name, combined with threats from her sister-in-law Ridal, that keep such whispers behind closed doors.
There was a brief period after the Battle of Druckenwell that the family feared Malavai had been killed in action. It wasn't until a few weeks after the battle that he contacted them from Balmorra, informing them that he'd been court-martialed and demoted by Moff Broysc.
Ridal assists Malavai in bringing down Moff Broysc, using her old Inteligence contacts to help him abduct the Moff.
My personal headcanon is that Malavai knew Baras would go after his family if he didn't follow his orders, hence the betrayal. After Nes'ria spared him, he reached out to Halic and Ridal, warning them to watch out for any signs of retaliation from Baras. Nes'ria used her family's connections to have Malavai's family taken to a safe place until Baras was defeated.

My favorite characters are actually women who show up in for 0.5 seconds to be love interests to more prominent male characters because you can just OCify them and rewrite them the way they deserve

If I moved two of my Star Wars oc's over to this blog, would anyone be interested in writing with them?
Both are Old Republic era, but entirely malleable for other timelines. One is a Sith Inquisitor and the other is an Imperial Agent.

Six Sentence Sunday Monday Tuesday!
Thanks for the tag, @captainderyn :)
(I don’t know whom to tag. uhhhh.... @the-sith-in-the-sky-with-diamond @swtorpadawan ?)
This is from the upcoming chapter 64 from Book of Lightning. It might get added to a different part of the series instead, since it deviates from the current “book”’s main story... but maybe I’ll keep it in to add a few High Nobility houses among the Sith. And to add a little extra conflict to pad out Balmorra.
It also introduces Kairegane Rooks (aka Darth Kaimeryn), my new Sith Warrior. Like Vajra, she’s an original species, the Muintiri (I’m trying to draw her at the moment, but can’t make her look like the gorgeous but frightening badass she needs to be). In this chapter, she’s preparing to meet her fellow High Nobles after becoming the first of them to gain the ‘Darth’ title since the death of Marka Ragnos. Oh, this takes place much before Sith Warrior chapter 3 for... reasons.
Lady Kai chose an outfit that, in her eyes, embodied both words ‘skimpy’ and ‘intimidating.’ Her black-and-red blouse covered her breasts but little else, allowing the world to see the scales on her bosom and the feathers on her upper arms. Her dark silver gauntlets and greaves had spikes and talons. A little excessive, perhaps, but she had loved these the instant she’d found them in her mother’s wardrobe. A red sarong was draped around her long white harem pants, her black Lightsaber hilt hooked onto her belt. The only jewelry she wore was a heavy iron crown with her ancestor’s orange Lightsaber crystal embedded in it.

okay i (accidentally) lied i actually don't think the scene of Osha killing Sol was that emotional (though it was intense), i just figured it was supposed to be emotional to the viewer, that's why i called it that in a previous post, figuring i just didn't get it bc i only started watching last weekend, but now seeing other people say it was a let-down and underwhelming...yeah

Why I have to suffer like this?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just wanted to google "Why Sith Warrior has only one apprentice". I didn't want to see bad takes about how "Ashara's development is ass because she doesn't "have "persona" or "doesn't even fall to the Dark Side". EXCUSE YOU. That's HER DEVELOPMENT. She doesn't fall because she is not the type of Jedi prone to that. She is a Jedi who QUESTIONS the Jedi teachings and who doesn't understand why emotions are considered to be bad to the Jedi. THAT'S WHY SHE DOESN'T FALL. People who follow the teachings of the Jedi without any questions (with obedience like Jaesa) or who question but are denied bare human emotions (like Anakin) are usually more prone to falling because they were deprived of skills they need. Because Jedi Order is teaching them that emotions are bad they don't learn how to cope with emotions and when you don't know how to cope, you just fall like a fucking rock to the bottom of the pit. There is no control, no rails to catch yourself on. Coping allows you to descend down rather than fall, it helps you to control your investment in the Dark Side. See Lana Beniko and her amazing not a mad woman persona. She is not acting like a typical psycho because she has skills to manage her own emotions. Siths are about using emotions for battle. Managing your emotions is the most improtant skill they may have. Uncontrollable falling into the Dark Side, or chosing corruption and becoming a mad driven lunatic is the worst thing that Sith can do. That's. the. point.
I will not judge or riddicule people who pushed Jaesa to the Dark Side but I will definitely make a fucking problem from people who lack the ability to UNDERSTAND the world they're playing in and its nuances. Ashara is fine. Her development is not worse than Ahsoka's - hell, she actually keeps to her views about the Jedi Order while Ahsoka, even though she actively rebelled against the Order, turns around later in life and still doesn't get why her Master had fallen. (If anybody here is badly developed it's Ahsoka in Mandalorian and Ahsoka TV shows. Her portrayal in Clone Wars animation showed that she had the greatest potential to understand all the wrongs of the Jedi Order, but no, Filoni was like "oh attachments make you vulnerable to fear". Shut the fuck up. The contradictions you are creating drives me mad!) Is Ashara's story a bit bland? Yes. But so is every other companions' in this game. After their recruitment you never get anything more meaningful so saying that "Xalek had a persona while Ashara didn't" is bullshit. The only true statement in this bad take is that Xalek deserved more than what he got. He is very interesting character and I hate it that he is just relegated to the "alien apprentice" whose name you are not allowed to respect. He sounds very dedicated and loyal when you speak to him, and I think he could be treated with much more care than he is. And the same is true for other companions too. Every single one of them deserved better, but Xalek specifically was treated like a decoration.
Ashara not having a persona. Seriously!? I constantly keep talking with her about the Force and stuff, and I saw how she behaved in the quest when we were recruiting her. I liked her approach and the way she was thinking about the Force and how she asked questions and rebelled against Jedi's bullshit. She has a personality of a Jedi rebel. That's it! Her not falling to the Dark Side is the feature not a mistake, dammit! It's very clear to me that someone mistook blodthirstiness for persona.
