A huge thank you to all who came out to the Revenge of the Dragon event this past weekend.

The crew and I at the Kingdom of Loreamour, AKA Sword camp, had such an amazing time.

It's events like this that make all the hard work worth it and remind us how important community can be for the soul.

Thank you to everyone involved, and for all the new memories that we'll cherish for a lifetime.

Making a jacket I can wear for pride, inspired by the singular ✨Chuck Tingle✨

The color choices were inspired by pride flags. I tried to fit in as many as possible, and I have room on the rest of the jacket to add more in the future. Rather than representing my specific identity I aimed to include as many gender and sexual identities as I could fit. We are all blooming together.

Chuck Tingle’s writing often reminds me to express my joy and creativity out loud, and helps to focus me on creating art through love. I’m so grateful and glad to live in a place where I can celebrate myself and my community. This jacket is an expression of that emotion.

A highlight of my summer- I wore my pride garden jacket to the Camp Damascus book tour, and got my bandana signed! It is now my favorite decoration in my sewing space 💖

Hey Portfolio Day, I'm Heidi!

I'm a storyboard artist and illustrator with 6+ years professional experience. I've worked for Disney TVA, Dreamworks TV, and Disney Lorcana TCG! My previous shows include an unannounced Disney TVA Pilot, Jurassic World Chaos Theory, The Croods Family Tree, Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous, and Spirit Riding Free.

I'm currently looking for union storyboard work and freelance illustration work, and I also stream on twitch in my spare time.

In addition to Sword and Sorcery stories, there's other popular culture - the Blob movie is an infamous example from 1958. I also found a 1968 Conan story by Sprague deCamp (Curse of the Monolith) that features a slime monster almost identical to how they're portrayed in DnD, down to having an acidic touch.

Oh, definitely – I was aiming for the earliest example of the trope in its modern form that I could think of with my Lovecraft example, not necessarily the most proximate inspiration for D&D's slime monsters. For the latter you'd almost certainly want to look at sword and sorcery literature from the late 1960s or early 1970s, which places the de Camp example around the right time-frame.

I think that Orym actually does doubt Imogen, but this isn't a thing that is unique to Imogen. Orym doubts all of them to an extent, because paranoia is something he struggles with (and this is continuously reinforced by the story).

It's not a 'good' thing that he should never get over, nor is it an immoral character flaw that proves he actually hates Imogen. However it's also not something I think he can get over as long as the threat of having to possibly fight his friends exists.

I wish I could tell the original artist that this drawing permanently changed the entire direction of my life in 2009. I want to shake their hand, look them in the eye, and admit I would not be who I am today if this drawing didn’t exist.

I like to think that on some level Shanks is just a little upset (Beckman knows the truth; that he is deeply, simmeringly, furious) at the unfairness and hypocrisy that is Mihawk still wanting to fight Zoro.

That he still thinks Zoro’s going to be his greatest challenger- the one to usurp his throne, that even though he’s down an eye, even though they are both “lacking”. Zoro is somehow still worthy of Mihawk’s attention when Shanks has been judged and found wanting.

Shanks lost an arm, and they still can’t talk about it, and Mihawk still won’t fight him, but he’ll fight Zoro. Trained Zoro. And he knows it’s not the same, he doesn’t even want the title, doesn’t want to be Mihawk’s “destiny”. He knows that he’s being childish but Mihawk started it and it’s not fair.

He's literally just the spirit of a sword. Like how does he get up to so much shit when Fi just chills in the master sword like a Siri I keep setting off by accident? Like they both took “being born to serve” to mean very different things lmao.

One thing I think about a lot is that when Nargothrond falls, it is heavily implied that as good as everyone perished or, if not, got captured. Like, unlike with the Fall of Doriath, there is no mention at all of any refugees removing to the Mouth of Sirion - and yet, I assume that is very likely where Celebrimbor, at least, went? I definitely think he would have fought, but clearly he survived and neither Doriath nor Gondolin really were an option for him, and I doubt even more that he would have gone back to his family.

And there are a lot of implications to all that, but maybe the one that keeps me up most is that this means he would have likely been there when the refugees of Doriath arrived, when they told of what his family did. That his father is dead. What would he have been thinking? What would the survivors of Doriath been thinking? Like, I know there were technically several different camps to some extent, but I doubt they would have been wholly separate, especially upon arrival. What kind of horror to find someone who looks just like one of those guys who just slaughtered your friends and family. What kind of horror to look like someone who just committed such horrors.

He also would have been there when the third kinslaying occurred, or at least very close to it. What an experience, to end up on the other side of it. To see exactly what might have become of him had he not foresworn his father years ago, and also to see yet again what became of his family. Like yeah, everything before/during the Nargothrond Disaster would have already been formative for him and his future choices, but I do feel even being in the vicinity of all of that would have been such a dire reinforcement of all those convictions and reasons that made him disavow them in the first place. And especially in terms of the third kinslaying, it's also why I personally really doubt that there is a chance at any kind of reconciliation with any of the brothers, whether it's his father or I don't know, Maedhros or Maglor. Like, I just don't think there is any coming back fromt hat, really, if there ever was.
