I just like how scott pulls one over on gerard at the end of s2. very satisfying. he’s been stuck between derek guilt tripping him and psychopathic grandpa blackmailing him for half the season, and he dupes them BOTH. A+ trickery and not something you typically expect from scott.

@valeswolf asked: ❛ i’m not afraid of you. ❜
The faint clink of his armor echoed softly in the empty hall as Jaime leaned against the cold stone wall, his gaze fixed on the Stark girl. Swolf’s glare that bore into him with the full weight of her family name. She was her mother’s daughter, through and through—unyielding, her stance defiant despite the shadow of the Kingslayer before her.
A corner of Jaime’s mouth tugged upward, a faint ghost of his trademark smirk. “Good,” he replied, his voice smooth yet strangely earnest. “Because I’m not here to give you a reason to be.” Jaime stepped forward, slow and deliberate, his golden hand catching the faint torchlight as he raised it in a gesture of peace. “I’m not here to hurt you, Karlyn.” He paused, letting his words settle between them. “Whatever stories you’ve heard about me, whatever truths you believe—know this. I swore to your mother that I would keep her daughters safe. I don’t break my promises, not the ones that matter.”
He sighed, his voice softening as he added, “If I were here to harm you, you wouldn’t have had the chance to tell me you weren’t afraid.” It wasn’t a threat—just the truth, delivered without the sharp edges it might’ve carried from another man. Jaime wasn’t looking for her submission, only her understanding. He had made his vow to Catelyn Stark, and though the gods may have laughed at the promises of men, Jaime Lannister did not.

finished season 1 yesterday, and I still can’t get over how scott, still confused about all this werewolf stuff and barely having started to come into his own as the sort of person he is going to be, doesn’t hesitate to save jackson the moment he realizes he’s in danger. the kid who is currently blackmailing him and is making moves on the girl he likes and is just overall a giant jerk to both scott and stiles. and then scott goes and saves him twice. scott, who despite how mad the fact makes him, could never just leave him to die if there’s something he can do about it. and if that doesn’t sum up scott’s overall character I don’t know what does.

Here's a surprising fact: elite swimmers convert only 9% of their energy into forward motion. The remaining energy simply dissipates into the water. Many experienced swimmers face challenges with their freestyle swimming technique and waste valuable energy through unnecessary movements. A simple form might help you cross the pool, but becoming skilled at advanced freestyle swimming stroke technique will enhance your performance in the water. Our team has researched proper freestyle swimming technique extensively, from breathing patterns to body positioning. You can learn to fine-tune every aspect of your freestyle swimming, whether you're preparing for competition or just want to swim more efficiently. Are you ready to convert those energy losses into powerful forward momentum? Let's take a closer look at the advanced techniques that will enhance your freestyle swimming. Understanding Swimming Efficiency Metrics Your path to becoming skilled at freestyle swimming begins with tracking the right metrics. Let's look at how we measure and analyze swimming efficiency to help you perfect your technique. Key Performance Indicators for Freestyle Swimming technique analysis relies on several significant metrics. These essential KPIs include: Performance Metric What It Measures Stroke Rate (SR) Arm strokes per minute Stroke Length (SL) Distance covered per stroke Free Swimming Speed (FSS) Velocity during continuous swimming SWOLF Score Combined efficiency score Measuring Stroke Length and Rate The relationship between stroke length and rate plays a vital role in optimal freestyle swimming technique. Your swimming velocity comes from these two factors: V = SR × SL. Measuring these metrics during training helps you find your perfect balance between power and efficiency. Using Technology for Technique Analysis Technology has transformed our approach to analyzing proper freestyle swimming technique. We use these essential tools: - Smart wearables track stroke metrics live - Underwater cameras provide detailed movement analysis - Force measurement devices analyze propulsion - Advanced motion tracking systems give us a full picture Our expertise combined with these technologies helps us spot improvements in your freestyle swimming stroke technique that you might miss otherwise. Mastering Advanced Body Mechanics Proper body mechanics can revolutionize your freestyle swimming performance. Research shows that becoming skilled at these advanced techniques will reduce water resistance and increase propulsion. Optimizing Body Roll and Rotation Proper body rotation is the quickest way to master freestyle swimming. The rotation should occur along your body's longitudinal axis, from head to toes. The optimal rotation varies by speed: Swimming Speed Rotation Angle Sprint Pace 30-35° Middle Distance 35-45° Long Distance 40-50° Advanced Core Engagement Techniques Your core serves as the power center for freestyle swimming technique. Strong core engagement helps maintain body arrangement and transfers power between your upper and lower body. Your core acts as a solid foundation that connects your shoulder rotation to your hip movement during freestyle strokes. Perfect Streamline Positioning The ideal streamline position is vital to reduce water resistance. Analysis shows that proper streamline can reduce frontal drag by up to 10%. These points need focus: - Press your biceps against your ears - Maintain a neutral head position with eyes down - Keep your core engaged and spine straight - Point your toes and keep them together - Lift your hips to maintain horizontal body position Swimmers who implement these advanced body mechanics improve their freestyle swimming efficiency. These positions must be maintained throughout your stroke cycle, particularly during the power phase of your pull. Advanced Propulsion Techniques Our extensive research of freestyle swimming technique shows that propulsion offers swimmers their biggest opportunity for improvement. Let's explore advanced techniques that will improve your power in the water. High-Elbow Catch Mastery The high-elbow catch is the foundation of powerful freestyle swimming. Research shows that keeping your elbow above your wrist during the catch phase creates a larger surface area for propulsion. Here's the optimal positioning: Catch Phase Elbow Position Initial Entry Slightly above shoulder Mid-Catch 2-3 inches above wrist Power Position Arranged with shoulder Advanced Pull Pattern Development The most effective pull pattern starts right after a well-executed catch. The power in swimming comes from your core muscles, extending from your neck to your knees. You'll effectively use these powerful core muscles by keeping your hand and elbow anchored in the water at the catch spot. Power Phase Optimization The power phase represents the most propulsive point of your freestyle arm cycle. Your power output reaches its peak when you focus on these critical elements: - Keep palm orientation facing backward throughout the pull - Speed up hand movement progressively through the pull - Involve your upper back and shoulder muscles - Synchronize your body's rotation with the pulling motion - Link your core movement to your arm movement Swimmers who apply these advanced propulsion techniques substantially increase their distance per stroke while using less energy. Note that the acceleration of your hand through the underwater pull, combined with your core rotation, creates the optimal power phase of the freestyle stroke. Elite Training Integration You can reach elite levels in freestyle swimming when you combine land-based training with pool work. Our research shows that a well-laid-out approach gives the best results. Dryland Strength Training Connection Adding targeted dryland training improves freestyle swimming performance by a lot. Our elite training program blends specific strength exercises with pool work: Training Component Focus Area Benefits Core Stability Rotational Power Enhanced Body Roll Upper Body Pull Strength Improved Catch Phase Lower Body Explosive Power Better Starts & Turns Race-Specific Training Adaptations Our work with elite swimmers taught us that training must mirror competition demands. We build our sessions to develop both front-end speed and back-end endurance. Race-pace training with specific rest intervals helps swimmers keep proper freestyle swimming technique even when tired. Recovery and Performance Monitoring We use a detailed monitoring system to optimize recovery and performance. Our key metrics include: - Heart rate variability during morning readings - Neuromuscular function assessments - Daily wellness questionnaires - Sleep quality tracking - Training load metrics Proper recovery is a vital part of training success. We track each swimmer's response to training loads and adjust their freestyle swimming technique work based on the results. These parameters help us spot early signs of fatigue and optimize training adaptations. This comprehensive program helps swimmers improve their freestyle swimming efficiency, especially when competing in important events. Each training aspect works together to boost performance. Conclusion Becoming skilled at freestyle swimming just needs you to perfect multiple aspects of technique and training. Our research shows swimmers improve remarkably when they focus on body mechanics, propulsion techniques, and proper training integration. Success comes from attention to detail - from optimal body rotation angles to advanced propulsion patterns. Smart training choices with technology and performance monitoring separate good swimmers from exceptional ones. You can schedule a swim stroke analysis if you want help with your stroke. Small adjustments in technique can lead to most important gains in speed and efficiency. With consistent practice and proper guidance, you'll develop a more powerful, efficient freestyle stroke that saves energy while maximizing forward propulsion. Your trip toward freestyle excellence never ends. Each training session helps you refine your technique and build on your strengths. Focus on these advanced concepts and you'll keep evolving as a swimmer. FAQs Q1. How can I improve my freestyle swimming efficiency? To enhance your freestyle efficiency, focus on increasing your stroke rate and length, perfecting a high-elbow catch, and improving your kick efficiency. Additionally, work on body rotation and core engagement to maximize power transfer and reduce drag. Q2. What are the key metrics for measuring freestyle swimming performance? Key performance indicators for freestyle swimming include stroke rate (arm strokes per minute), stroke length (distance covered per stroke), free swimming speed (velocity during continuous swimming), and SWOLF score (a combined efficiency metric). Q3. How important is body rotation in freestyle swimming? Body rotation is crucial for efficient freestyle swimming. Optimal rotation angles vary depending on swimming speed: 30-35° for sprint pace, 35-45° for middle distance, and 40-50° for long distance. Proper rotation reduces water resistance and enhances propulsion. Q4. What role does core engagement play in freestyle technique? Core engagement is fundamental to freestyle swimming. A strong core maintains body alignment, transfers power between upper and lower body, and connects shoulder rotation to hip movement. It acts as the power center for an efficient freestyle stroke. Q5. How can dryland training improve freestyle swimming performance? Integrating dryland strength training can significantly enhance freestyle swimming. Focus on core stability exercises for improved body roll, upper body training for a stronger catch phase, and lower body workouts for more explosive starts and turns. This comprehensive approach complements pool work and boosts overall performance. Swim Stroke Analysis Read the full article
