Swirling cosmic rainbow madness is FUN,

But hear me out:

Shits a fucking png. In real life.no matter what angle you look at it. No matter how far you move. It's the same gods damned still image of swirled rainbow madness. It's like an image burned into your corneas. Because it's so fucking big and you are so insignificant that no matter how close you are its still the same static image. Enough to drive someone to insanity. On security footage, it's the same. In black and white footage, it is the same cosmic rainbow mess but it's s t i l l.

i had this spider creature from 2016 whose abdomen just so happened to have a fun little swirly on the tip, i thought it was a very cute trait

however, outside of the creature editor, in the actual sporepedia preview or anywhere else, the abdomen swirly is gone

i used obs to display the textures as they were loading just to see what was going on. this is the creature editor and sporepedia texture respectively

you can see that even the uvs are different, so the game had to regenerate the texture entirely, and so it didnt end up creating the swirl

i think the ingame models are just lower poly than the creature editor models. usually this isnt noticeable, but one of the ear parts Panhear gets a really nasty lod outside of the creature editor

and sometimes your invisible limbs will work great in the creature editor but will break outside it, or, in rarer occacions, vice versa. since the entire model gets recreated and so in one instanceo r another it might create a skin connection between the body and the invisible limb, thus making it visible. you always have to look out for that sort of thing when making creatures with invisible limbs (in vanilla anyway)

this also confirms that the creature png is based off the model used outside of the creature editor. as you can see this one has limbs in the creature editor, but not in the other models or in the thumbnail

a rough draft LOL

some design ideas i had, i'll probably fix this up later:

the planets that swirl around danny's head are made of ice

the staff isn't something he always carries on him but is stored in an infinite "pocket dimension" he has access to. at the very end of it is an itty bitty black hole. is it a real one? who knows. just don't get hit with it

his ghostly tail fades off into space cloud dust

similar to nocturne, his cape is of a static png of space that shifts whenever he moves. the rest of his outfit is very astronaut themed (the nerd...)

not visible but a cool idea: in this specific iteration of equinox, he's in a bnha x dp crossover/halfa!izuku au that i've picked up after abandoning it for years. equinox is danny's ancient form after he leaves the throne to establish a council. i think it'd be fun if there were scars from the crown and ring from his time as king visible. obviously it won't be here and his hands are covered but that's a design note!

Idk how to draw beards so I did one with and one without it! I traced the tail from a cookie cutter shark png but the scars and holes were done by me ^^. He should have swirling black markings but I forgot them and they're hard to do.

MY BOY!! Brachium is the one who started this all because I immediately knew he needs an absol.

Hello!! Not a request, which I hope is okay, but I was hoping I could ask: What do you use (as in like programs/apps) to make things like your mood-boards or outfit boards? And if possible, do you have any tips for making some myself? I've made a couple before but I always seem to struggle with thinking of objects and stuff to put on them. I use Ibis Paint X (freely available for android and iOS) and have been for multiple years. It's actually a drawing up but it's GREAT for editing too!! It takes a bit getting used to but once you get the hang of all the controls it's super easy I promise :D

Outfit Board Tips:

- Stick to a specific theme (i.e. The Zoo)

- I like to start with the outfit (I'm a big fan of shorts if it wasn't obvious), you can also use it for color guidance!

- I usually like to include at least one outfit, one food item and one plushie

- I think it's also important to keep the age group you want to make the board for in mind, it helps with searching for toys

- As for choosing the items, I usually think of me and my childhood and what I want(ed) to play with myself! You can often find specific toys/food items with a google image search (i.e. i searched for Zoo Cookies, Capri Sun Orange, Monkey Board Game)

- In my opinion, a big part of making something look nice is composition. I usually work with three sizes of images: big, middle and small. I try to only put two big elements (one being the outfit) and put them farthest apart from each other. I place middle images randomly and fill in the spaces with the small images (which are usually "clutter" like legos, shells, gummies etc. all the same thing but different colors/shapes)

- As for where to find pngs, I usually use Pinterest, Google and Tumblr (#agerepngs) and I make my own pngs with background remover websites such as remove.bg or pixian.ai BUT you can also make them yourself with Ibis Paint X or PicsArt!

- And lastly, I like to do fun little swirls & patterns around the object to fill the empty spaces even more

Here are two Linux distributions running in a virtual machine on Distrosea. They are Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon and Debian 12 MATE.

These images show some of the themes which you can select in each distro. Linux Mint uses two themes, known as 'Mint-Y (Arc)' and 'Mint-X (Greybird)'.

Mint-X is a redesign of the Graphical Toolkit 2 (GTK2) version seen in older versions of Mint made to work with the newer GTK3 and 4 versions. All themes are available in a range of colours and include light and dark variants.

In Debian 12 MATE, there are a range of retro themes including 'Green Menta' which is the default.

This is Debian's background featuring the 1999 Debian red swirl logo, which also features in Pixar's Toy Story, rotated around on the chin of Buzz Lightyear!

The name for this version of Debian is Bookworm, all releases since 1996 feature the names of various Toy Story characters.

I have selected a theme called 'TraditionalOK' which is a GTK3 theme based on a classic GTK2 version called 'Clearlooks' which was built from a similar theme used in the old free version of Red Hat Linux.

Most Linux distros use either GTK3, Qt4 or OpenBox as a theme toolkit.

The original GTK was developed in 1997. It was inspired by the success of the KDE project.

Using GTK3 or GTK4 has many advantages over GTK2 such as the ability to support modern features such as HiDpi as GTK3 uses vector graphics (SVG files) instead of PNG files to display all the windows on screen.
