Sweet & Sour Tofu with Hoisin Green Beans 🍃 When you don't want to buy Chinese food the next option is to make it yourself. 🍃 To start, after drying the tofu it was rolled in cornstarch and fried in some oil until golden. 🍃 Meanwhile, a sweet and sour sauce was made with orange juice, lemon juice, tamari and sweet chili sauce. 🍃 After the tofu was cooked the sauce was added to the pan to reduce for 5-8 minutes. Tofu was then added at the end just to coat, then enjoyed over rice with the Hoisin green beans. 🍃 The green beans were stir-fried for a couple minutes as I love them still crunchy. #RoadtoSustainability Day 244 Tomorrow, I will receive a sock from a book, possibly a diary, and then I can finally be free!!! *wink* for those who got that 🙂 I woke up very excited today because I thought I can finally go out and do the things that I needed done that I cannot do online...like work. Apparently, I got my dates mixed up. Waking up at 5AM and finding out how wrong I was really put me off, and a gloomy morning wasn't helping either. But, I sucked it in, cleaned the house, prepared food for my dog, and then I prepared food for myself. Fun fact: Did you know that eating yellow and orange colored foods can lift up your mood a bit? I cooked a nicely done turmeric rice and a shockingly delicious sweet and sour tofu (of course its vegan). After plating, I honestly felt better. I have things that I can still accomplish now (like my thesis but whoops!), so, I'll do those. 𝐒𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐓𝐨𝐟𝐮

I bought a few blocks of firm tofu today to prepare sweet and sour tofu, the vegetarian version of the Sweet and Sour Pork 咕噜肉.

Tofu should not taste bland if it is properly cooked and seasoned. This sweet and sour tofu will surely make your mouth foaming uncontrollably!

I doused in a sweet and sour sauce, with the intermingling of flavors from ketchup, vinegar, and soy sauce. It is then stir-fried with the crisp and crunchy vegetables to deliver a well-balanced texture and flavor.
